Kids Travel Journal Printable [Downloadable PDF Template]

Keeping a kids travel journal is not just a great way to remember the details of your trip, but it also captures those precious memories that may later be swept away in the fog of our memories.

Your kid’s journal will become an heirloom more precious than any other souvenirs you can bring back from your trip. Plus, a journal is an excellent way to keep the kiddos entertained during road trips, long plane rides, and other inevitable travel downtime!

While any old notebook or journal works, if you want to encourage kids to keep track of their experiences, you need to provide some travel journal ideas.

Kid travel journal writing

Kids Travel Journal Printables

One thing I’ve learned from my daughter’s teacher is that writing is easier for kids if they are given a writing prompt.  To design these travel journal pages, I talked to my girl about what things she likes to remember from her travels and what types of prompts might make journaling easier.

With her input I put together the following kid travel journal printable pages–including a cover and two inside pages. So if you are looking for a DIY travel journal for your kids, look no further! And if you prefer ready-made kid travel journals — keep reading because I have some options that I like down below.

With this free printable travel journal cover, your child can personalize their journal with their name, indicate where on the map they are going, and record the dates of the trip.

I’ve also put together two interior pages. Just print as many of these (double-sided if you can) for the number of days of your trip.

The first page lets your child record the date and location and choose how they felt about the day (loved it, liked it, meh, ugh, tired, or sick.) Kids can also write about what they saw, the best thing they ate, where they stayed, and their favorite part of the day.

There are also icons to select how they traveled (plane, train, car, taxi, subway, boat, bike or walking) and what the weather was like (hot, sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, snowy or cold.)

The second interior page gives plenty of room to draw a picture that represents their day, to help those that are more visual than verbal. It also provides space to write about something they learned to keep track of all the amazing education that comes through travel like facts about a place they visited, a new word in a new language, or something about the culture you are visiting.

Before you leave just print out the number of pages you need and staple it, bind it, or put it in a pocket folder with room to save ticket stubs, programs, and more.

When on the road, don’t wait until the meltdown at bedtime to think about writing in journals. Stick it in your day bag along with some crayons and pencils and use it as a way to keep kids entertained while waiting to be served at restaurants or other downtime throughout the day.

By the way, if you really want to get your kids involved in the travel planning as well as the travel journaling, use these vacation planner worksheets for kids !

Many thanks! Sincerely appreciate the free downloads. Your time & talent is appreciated.

These look fab, I’ve pinned to print off in the pre-holiday panic

Thank you for creating theses pages We3Travel, they are beautiful! I’m just seeing this while on a trip in Spain without printing facilities, but will be using thes on our next trips!

I’m so glad you like them! Have a great trip. We loved visiting Spain a few years ago.

My Daughters School (Palm Valley Elem) shared this for as a summer activity! I am so glad they did!! this is exactly what I was looking for for my 8 year old! she needs the writing prompts! I am going to add them to a journal and add a few “pockets” for her to add ticket stubs etc

That’s great!! I made this a few years ago and I feel like I should update it but glad it still works for others!

Love your travel pages, but they would not print for me. Am taking my 10 yr old grand and parents to the Jersey Shore in July and making a list of crafty and fun activities to do with her. Since your pages won’t print, they have still given me an idea of making a simple journal with her and use your ideas as prompts for her to write and sketch. Thanks for the cool ideas.

I’m so sorry to hear they wouldn’t print for you. Were you able to download them or did you have trouble accessing them?

Free printable travel journal template: One Question A Day Diary

The cover of a question a day journal

Are you going on a trip soon and do you want to keep track of all your fun memories? Great news! In today’s post, I’m going to show you how to make a simple DIY travel journal. It’s really easy, low-key, and fun! Plus, if you’re not feeling crafty, you can even download my free printable travel journal template that I made just for you.

Like many travelers, I used to forget the small, fun details of my trips. So, I started keeping track of memories with this one-question-a-day journal.

The idea is simple.

You just answer one fun question every day for a week. And the week after, you’ll answer the same one. It’s not like those big, heavy journals that are hard to carry. And you won’t have to write a lot, just one interesting question each day. This way, you can remember all the neat things that even photos can’t show, without any effort.

So stick with me, and I’ll show you how this easy idea can make your trips even more memorable. Let’s start making your very own travel journal!

Why you should keep a travel journal

Alright, I know you are dying to get started with this DIY travel journal, but just before you grab your crafts and head off, allow me to share a few more reasons why journaling is a game-changer for your travels.  Trust me, after reading these reasons, “forgetting” to journal will be a thing of the past!

  • Document memories: Revisiting your adventures through a journal is super fun. Those quirky anecdotes and hidden gems you discovered? They will all be in your journal waiting to be re-lived.
  • Record thoughts and ideas that you might otherwise forget: Ever had a brilliant idea or a profound realization while traveling, only to forget it later? A travel journal ensures those thoughts are captured forever.
  • Reflect and learn: Journaling allows you to ponder over your experiences, offering insights and learnings that can be transformative.
  • Unleash creativity: It’s not just about writing; it’s about expressing your creativity. Doodle, paste ticket stubs, or write a poem – your journal, your rules!
  • Enhance your journey : A journal adds depth to your travels. It encourages mindfulness and helps you appreciate the journey on a deeper level.

Ready to make your travels more memorable and meaningful? Let’s get started and make your own travel journal!

A set of sample pages for travel journals

A question-a-day: How does it work?

If you’re unfamiliar with the one-question-a-day format, let me give you a quick rundown, so you can make the most out of our free template.

Traditionally, these journals are used for an entire year, containing 365 unique questions – one for each day. The idea is to keep the journal for five years, answering the same question on the same date each year. This way, you end up with a fascinating record of how your thoughts and experiences evolve over time.

What I love about this format is the ease and simplicity. Answering just one question a day is a breeze, making it effortless to maintain a consistent journaling habit – often the biggest challenge for many travelers who want to keep a travel journal.

I adapted this concept for travel. Instead of spanning years, it covers your trip’s duration, with the same set of questions repeated each week. This approach is perfect for travelers who start journaling with enthusiasm but find the task daunting as their journey progresses. With just a short question to answer daily, it’s easy, fun, and incredibly rewarding.

So now that you understand the concept, let’s find out how to make your own travel journal.

I will share two options below; A DIY version and a free printable one . Neither one is better, just pick whichever one suits you best!

two examples of how to make your own jorunal

Option1: DIY travel journal

The first option I’ll share is a true DIY travel journal. You start with an empty paper or notebook and craft your own.

If you are looking for the free printable, scroll down to the free printable travel journal template section.

Materials needed

  • Paper (A4 that you fold in two to make a booklet or any type of notebook)
  • Crafting materials (if you want to make it look nice, but this is not necessary)

How to make your own travel journal

Step 1: find a notebook.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter if you just fold A4 paper in half and use a stapling machine to bind it. If you buy a simple notebook, or if you go all the way and buy a beautifully designed travel notebook.

I’m a big bullet journal fan, so I just make a collection and dedicate a few pages of my daily bullet journal to this Question-a-day journal. That way it’s integrated with all my other work and travel notes.

But feel free to do whatever fits you. All that matters is that you actually start and that you enjoy working on it. If you need a beautiful design to feel inspired, then by all means go for it. But the design should not be a reason to not get started.

The size of the notebook doesn’t matter either. I usually prefer an A5 format, because it’s small and easily fits in my backpack. But really, anything works. Lined, dotted, squared, or blank paper, all is fine.

A red ring binder notebook

Step 2: Make the pages

At the top of each page write one of the questions below, followed by a prompt for the right date. So weeks 1, 2, 3, etc (depending on how long you’ll be traveling)

  • What did you eat today?
  • Who or what made you smile today?
  • What did you do today?
  • Did you learn something new today? What was it?
  • What is the most beautiful thing you saw today?
  • Did you come across any challenges today? What was it? How did you overcome it?
  • What was your favorite moment of the past week?

A notebook with a page and a question and five weeks to answer it

Of course, there are many different variations of questions you could ask. I found these seven the most interesting ones. But check the section about other prompts below for more question ideas.

I usually don’t add the answer sections for each week yet (I only showed it in the example above to give you an idea), because I don’t know how much space I’ll be needing for my answers. But you could add those if you want to make sure everything fits on one page.

An example of a question a day journal

Step 3: Decorate your travel journal

Now, I’ll admit. I am not the most creative person out here.

I can’t draw and I have the handwriting of an 8-year-old. So when I get crafty with my journal without any template, stickers, stamps, or premade anything, it will look like a mess. And that’s why I go for simplicity,

But if you are nothing like me, this is where you can get crazy. Get out your markers, crayons, glitter, and whatnot to make this travel journal feel like you. You could even add more blank pages so you have more options for photos, doodles, and other fun keepsakes from your trip.

Step 4: Start answering the questions every day

Now that your journal is finished, all you need to do is answer one simple question a day. No endless essays, writer’s block, or not feeling inspired. You’ll know exactly what to write and it will only take a few seconds.

What I like even more, is that even if I forgot to journal one day. I can easily trace back and still answer that one question from yesterday.

Option 2: Free printable travel journal template

Alright, if you’re looking for a printable travel journal, then I’ve got you covered too. Find out how to make your own travel journal from my free printable PDF below!

  • Paper (white A4 that you fold in two to make a booklet)
  • Printer (that can print in a booklet, though most printers nowadays have this setting)
  • A free printable cover

How to use the free printable travel journal pdf

Step 1: choose and download your cover.

For you to use this journal every day and make the most out of it, you need to be super enthusiastic about it. And one way to get you excited is to help you find a design that matches your personality. And that’s why I came up with five different covers so that you can pick one that matches your spirit best.

Choose your favorite down below, or head over to Canva and make your design, as long as you print it on the right side of the paper in landscape shape, it will work too.

A blue cover of a free printable travel journal

Step 2: Print the cover

Print it on an A4 paper and fold it in two. I deliberately put it on landscape and on the right side of the paper, so you can fold it in two and use it as the cover.

Step 3: Print the questions

Now that we have your cover, it’s time for the questions, which you can download here .

They are in A4 PDF format, but you can easily print them as a booklet by using the right printer settings, I explained below.

The complete set of free printabel question pages

Print instructions

  • Click print once you’ve downloaded and opened the PDF on your computer
  • Go to printer settings and select booklet
  • Print double-sided

With these settings, your printer will automatically put them in the right order, so that when you fold it in two, you will have a book from question 1-7, and extra notes in the back.

printer settings with arrows to print a booklet

The settings might look slightly different on your computer, but it works the same for every printer.

Feel free to add more blank paper so you’ll have more notes. Or simply print more of the last “notes” page.

DIY travel journal tips

There are a few things that can help you to make the most out of this travel journal.

  • Make this journal your own: the more it feels like your own project, the more enthusiastic you will be to write every day
  • Set a specific time or moment when you will answer the question
  • Start each answer with your current location followed by “:” and the answer. As travelers we visit so many different places that sometimes just seeing the name of a city you were at helps you set the mood and remember the content when you’re reading your travel journal years from now

A DIY travel journal with questions

DIY travel journal variations

As you probably already noticed, there are about 1000 different ways in which you can style your travel journal.

I just shared five printable travel journal templates with you, as well as my super simple but effective handwritten method. But remember. This journal is about you. It should be a design that invites you to write every day and create a beautiful travel memoir for your future self.

So go wild and use which ever design you want.

Besides differences in designs, you can also add different questions that are important to you, or that you want to remember from your trip. I’ll share a few of my other questions below.

I use these when I make my monthly travel journal for longer trips (more about this monthly journal below).

  • Who did you meet today?
  • Did you travel with someone today? Who is it?
  • What was the weather like today?
  • When was the last time you did something kind for someone else?
  • What surprised you today?
  • When was the last time someone did something kind for you?
  • Did you fall for any tourist traps this week?
  • What was your favorite accommodation up until now?
  • Did you do something that scared you this week?

The printable travel journal prompts I shared with you today are for a five-week trip, but of course, you can also use them for a two-week vacation or any other duration.

If you’re traveling longer than 8 weeks, I would advise you to make a journal with a question for each day of the month. That way you’ll have more variation in the types of questions asked and the things you will remember from your trip.

Just check out my list of questions above for more inspiration. And if you want more help, or if you’re not feeling creative, Shoot me a message and I will send the full list of monthly questions as well as a free monthly printable that I use as well!

Bullet Style Travel Journal – Free Printable Layout

Posted on Published: July 4, 2018  - Last updated: March 19, 2023

Mockup of a travel journal template page.

Travel journalling is HARD , but having a great setup in your travel journal can make it so much easier.

I do this by setting my travel journal up before I ever leave home! By making my journal entries as easy as filling in a simple worksheet, it’s so much easier to keep the journaling habit and create a travel journal that’s beautiful to look at.

In this article, I’m sharing with you my best tips for using a bullet journal approach for your travel journal, plus, a free download of my most popular travel journal layout!

[ click to jump to download ]

Every time I try to keep a regular journal on the road I give up- it’s way too much effort. Bullet Journalling, though, has been a perfect companion to travel. Most of us take lots of photos when we travel, but I created this layout to record the experiences and memories that photos can’t quite capture: bringing experiences of all five senses into a layout that can be quickly jotted down over breakfast or a coffee break. Scroll to the bottom of this page for instructions to download a printable template.

How to make a bullet journal style travel journal layout - free printable

Why Bullet Journalling over Long Format?

You probably know the drill: You pack a  journal for your trip, make a plan to journal faithfully all the memorable details of your travel destination, and inevitably the journal returns home stuffed under a pile of dirty laundry with a few scribbled pages at best.

So what if there was a better way to travel journal? I think that way is adapting the bullet- type journal to travel journaling!

Maybe you have already experimented with bullet journaling as a speedy way to record important events, thoughts, and to-do lists, or maybe you are completely new to the bulleting style of journalling- my travel bullet journal style layout works great for bulleting pros and amateurs.

Bullet journalling is increasingly associated with elaborate photogenic spreads created painstakingly for social media- but don’t be thrown off by these complex layouts- your journal does NOT have to be pretty to serve as a tangible record of your travel memories.

The Unique Role of Travel Journals

Travel Journaling feels like a  way to remember everything that my photos cannot capture: my camera roll records sights I saw and a few faces of people I met, but the photos never capture the essence of a place in the way that a few words in a  journal can capture. In fact, research indicates we remember things far better when we describe them than when we take a photograph.

My First *Successful* Attempt to Travel Journal

When I set off on my first solo international trip, I had the chance to experiment with several different methods for keeping a journal on the road from Italy to Bosnia and back.

Follow me on Pinterest for more Travel Art and Journaling Ideas:

Previous trips attempts at travel journaling would find me exhausted in a hotel room after a long day trying to write paragraph after paragraph of the day’s experience. It wasn’t fun at all, and I have never once looked back over the long format journals kept during those trips. Experimenting with different formats of travel journaling helped me figure out what works for me. It turns out, two formats work really well for me: 1.   an art/doodle style visual travel journal, and 2. a bullet journal layout specifically made for capturing the meaningful moments and experiences of traveling- without the time or energy investment that long format travel journals require.

After experimenting with various layouts while I was in Italy, I created this minimal version.

One of the bujo layouts i tried while traveling in italy

Travel “Bu-Jo”: Keep it Simple

Staying minimal is important. If you have the time, and it brings joy, you can embellish your layout with sketches and illustrations of things you see on your travels, but for me, I find it helpful to keep my art and my bullet journal separate – or at least on separate pages of the same notebook. When I sit down to bullet journal I want to be able to collect my reflections and memories and no more than 10 or 15 minutes. This means more time for adventure and less time stressing over making my journal pretty – in fact, the travel layout pictured here is a page I created after I came back.  HINT: My bullet journal – like most real people- is a mess. I find layouts to be helpful for planning and organization, but also know that mistakes and overflowing sections are part of the process. I make my bullet journal work for me, not the other way around.

Mindfulness, Travel, and Journaling.

A recent University of California study revealed what psychologists suspected:  taking a photograph of something actually decreases your mind’s ability to remember the thing photographed. However, mindfulness was shown in a study by UC Santa Barbara to improve memory and recall. Why do I mention this?  Because of journalling, which by definition is a process of mindfulness, actually changes the way you remember and integrate your experiences during travel in a way that photographs cannot.

One huge benefit of travel is how we come to know ourselves better as we experience different environments. The personal growth that comes through these experiences is largely related to how mindfully we engage those experiences.  One way to maximize these kinds of experiences for personal growth is to be mindful in those experiences. Mindfulness involves turning an eye towards one’s felt experience – growing awareness of being in one’s body and experiencing the world through our senses.

To help you take a few moments to mindfulness to mindfully reflect on your travel, this layout invites you to journal things that your camera can’t catch: The flavor/scents/textures/sounds of places you went, reflections on meaningful experiences, your favorite part of the day, and the moment that most challenged you. These five categories make a balanced layout that is so fast to fill out and a great way to quickly record a travel journal in a bullet style format while you are on the road.

I hope this #travelbujo layout and thoughts on why journalling matters have been helpful and inspiring. You are free to create, build, and reimagine for your journal based on this layout.

Introduction

Traveling is an incredible way to explore new places, experience different cultures, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re embarking on a weekend getaway or a long-term adventure, keeping a travel journal can greatly enhance your journey. Not only does it provide a means to document your experiences, but it also serves as a personal keepsake that you can treasure for years to come.

While a blank journal may seem overwhelming, using a travel journal with prompts can guide your writing and make the process more enjoyable. These prompts are designed to spark your creativity, help you reflect on your experiences, and capture the essence of your travels. In this article, we will explore the benefits of using a travel journal with prompts, discuss how to choose the best one for your needs, and highlight some of the top options available with free printable and fillable PDF formats.

Using a travel journal with prompts offers numerous advantages that can enhance your travel experience. First and foremost, it provides structure and direction to your writing, making it easier to get started and stay motivated. The prompts act as triggers to help you recall specific details and memories, ensuring that you capture the essence of your travel experiences.

Furthermore, a travel journal with prompts can make the process of journaling more engaging and enjoyable. The prompts can inspire creative thinking and encourage you to delve deeper into your thoughts and emotions. They can also prompt you to explore aspects of your journey that you might have overlooked or taken for granted, leading to a more comprehensive and meaningful reflection on your adventures.

Another benefit of using a travel journal with prompts is that it can serve as a practical resource for future reference. By recording important details such as accommodation information, transportation arrangements, and notable landmarks, you can easily retrieve valuable information when planning future trips or reminiscing about past ones.

Benefits of Using a Travel Journal with Prompts

Using a travel journal with prompts offers numerous advantages that can greatly enhance your travel experience. Here are some key benefits to consider:

  • Structure and Guidance: A travel journal with prompts provides structure and guidance for your writing. The prompts act as cues to help you brainstorm and organize your thoughts, making it easier to get started and stay motivated. This structure eliminates the blank page syndrome and allows you to focus on capturing the essence of your journey.
  • Creative Inspiration: Prompts can inspire creativity and encourage you to think outside the box. They can help you delve deeper into your experiences, prompting you to reflect on your emotions, observations, and personal growth throughout your travels. This creative exploration can lead to a richer and more detailed journal entry.
  • Comprehensive Reflection: A travel journal with prompts helps ensure that you don’t overlook any important aspects of your trip. The prompts cover a wide range of topics, from capturing sensory experiences like tastes and smells to reflecting on cultural nuances and personal interactions. This comprehensive reflection allows for a more holistic and meaningful record of your travels.
  • Easy to use: Using a travel journal with prompts eliminates the need for extensive planning and brainstorming during your journey. The prompts provide guiding questions, eliminating the stress of coming up with content for your entries. It allows you to simply fill in the relevant details and expand on the prompts to create a well-rounded and engaging journal.
  • Efficient Organization: With a travel journal featuring prompts, you can easily organize and categorize your entries. This makes it simple to refer back to specific events or places in the future, allowing you to easily relive those experiences or use them as a reference for future trips. The organized structure provided by the prompts allows for efficient journaling and retrieval of information.

In addition to these benefits, using a travel journal with prompts can also serve as a treasured keepsake and a way to share your experiences with others. You can revisit your journal at any time to relive the memories and emotions associated with your travels. It can also be a valuable resource for sharing your adventures with friends and family, providing them with insights into the places you visited and the experiences you had.

Now that we understand the benefits of using a travel journal with prompts, let’s delve into how to choose the best one for your needs.

How to Choose the Best Travel Journal with Prompts

Choosing the right travel journal with prompts is essential to ensure that it aligns with your preferences and enhances your travel experience. Here are some factors to consider when selecting the best travel journal:

  • Prompt Categories: Look for a travel journal that offers a variety of prompt categories to suit your interests and writing style. Common categories include daily reflections, cultural experiences, favorite meals, and memorable encounters. Choose a journal that covers topics that resonate with you and will inspire meaningful reflections of your journey.
  • Journal Format: Consider the format of the journal that suits your preference. Some journals offer guided prompts for each day or section, while others provide a combination of prompts and blank pages for more flexibility. Think about how much structure you prefer and choose a format that allows you to express yourself comfortably.
  • Size and Portability: Think about the size and portability of the travel journal. A compact and lightweight journal is ideal for travelers, as it can easily fit into your backpack or carry-on luggage. Consider whether you prefer a pocket-sized journal or a larger one with more writing space.
  • Material and Durability: Assess the material and durability of the journal. Opt for a journal with a sturdy cover that can withstand travel conditions, such as being tossed around in your bag or exposed to different weather elements. Additionally, check if the paper quality is suitable for the type of writing instruments you prefer to use.
  • Additional Features: Look for any additional features that might enhance your journaling experience. Some travel journals may include maps, stickers, or pockets to store mementos like ticket stubs or photographs. These extras can add a fun and interactive element to your journal and make it even more enjoyable to use.
  • Accessibility: Consider whether you prefer a physical journal or a digital option. Both have their advantages and drawbacks. Physical journals provide a tangible and tactile experience, while digital journals offer convenience and the ability to easily make backups or share your entries online.

By considering these factors, you can select a travel journal with prompts that resonates with your style and complements your travel goals. Remember, the best journal is the one that inspires you to write and captures the essence of your unique travel experiences.

Next, let’s explore the top features to look for in a travel journal with prompts.

Top Features to Look for in a Travel Journal with Prompts

When browsing for a travel journal with prompts, it’s important to consider certain features that can enhance your journaling experience. Here are some top features to look for:

  • Thoughtful Prompts: The prompts should be thoughtful and engaging, encouraging you to delve into different aspects of your travel experiences. Look for prompts that inspire creativity, reflection, and capturing vivid details. They should spark your imagination and help you express your thoughts and emotions effectively.
  • Customizability: Consider whether the journal allows for customization. Being able to add personal touches, such as inserting additional prompts or sections specific to your interests, can make the journal even more tailored to your travel style and experiences.
  • User-Friendly Design: Look for a travel journal that has a user-friendly design. This includes easy-to-read prompts, intuitive layouts, and sufficient space for writing. A well-organized journal will make it effortless to navigate through the prompts and ensure a smooth journaling process.
  • Quality Paper: Pay attention to the quality of the paper used in the journal. Opt for thicker, acid-free, and archival-quality paper to ensure that your entries withstand the test of time. This will prevent ink bleeding, smudging, or yellowing, preserving your memories for years to come.
  • Binding and Durability: Consider the binding and durability of the journal. Lay-flat bindings or spiral bindings are ideal, as they make it easier to write and prevent pages from falling out. Additionally, choose a journal that has a durable cover, as it will protect the contents from wear and tear during your travels.
  • Additional Resources: Some travel journals offer additional resources, such as maps, travel tips, packing lists, or language guides. These resources can be valuable companions during your trip and provide practical information that complements your journal entries.
  • Compatibility: If you prefer digital journaling, ensure that the journal is compatible with your preferred writing app or software. Look for travel journals that offer printable PDF or fillable PDF formats, allowing you to type directly into the prompts or print them out for writing by hand.

By considering these top features, you can choose a travel journal with prompts that meets your specific needs and preferences. Remember, the goal is to find a journal that enhances your travel experience, inspires meaningful reflection, and allows you to capture your unique adventures.

Free Kids’ Travel Journal Printable

Posted on Last updated: November 21, 2019

This amazing free printable kids travel journal is perfect for family vacations and kids’ travels. It’s the ideal tool to inspire observation and learning about culture and geography.

How would you like to have a super easy activity for the kids on your next vacation? What about one that involves reflecting on their day and writing and drawing about their impressions and experiences?

Look no further!

I love this free Kids’ Travel Journal printable, and so does my daughter. With this notebook, she is able to keep track of what she did each day, how she felt, and her favorite aspects of it.

In addition, there’s a reflection page that lets kids write or draw the weirdest thing from the vacation, the funniest thing, or what they’d like to do next time, etc.

Why do you need a Kids’ Travel Journal?

First of all, I would suggest all travelers keep a journal. Why do you ask? There are so many times you are in the moment and the sights, impressions, feelings, and experiences are all crystal clear, and you may think you’ll always remember them exactly that way.

Unfortunately, that is not always the case, and as time passes some of those start to muddle. Moreover, if you take the time to write out what you are seeing and experiencing you can go back to that at a later time. Then your mind will more easily recall all those senses from your journey and make it a reality.

I love to go back and re-read my travel journals and look at the photos together from that time.

A kids’ travel journal is important for all of those same reasons, but more as well. When a child writes out in sentence form about their day and what happened it causes their mind to process it in a new way. They will see it from a different perspective and remember it through that writing and also drawing.

Furthermore, journaling one’s adventures and feelings is a skill to be learned and practiced. I find it calms you down at the end of the day, and we all know traveling can be exhausting!

Make it part of the routine each evening before bed, and the relaxing familiarity of it will help to comfort kids. Inevitably this makes the entire trip more enjoyable for everyone!

Document Your Adventures!

Traveling is a great time for personal growth, meeting new people, and discovering what the world has to offer.

One thing you’re likely to do while travelling is to snap photos to document what you see.

While photographs are lovely, things like thoughts, feelings, scents, noises, and even conversations are frequently lost with the passage of time.

However, if you keep notes about your trip, you will be able to chronicle those things that the camera will not be able to catch.

Each colorful page gives you the opportunity to jot down all the details of your trip, including subjects or points of view that you may not usually consider making note of.

You will then be able to relive the memories by just reading your travel journal and looking at your pictures.

Reliving our vacations is why I write (and share!) my Disney trip reports on my blog!

Is This A Guided Travel Journal?

Every travel adventure is different, so, this isn’t a guided journal as such, but there are ten questions to get you started, as well as motivational quotes to inspire you.

  • Talk about the places where you are considering traveling.
  • Which destination seems to keep drawing you back? Why?
  • Do you have a goal or specific reason for traveling to the next place?
  • Write about your expectations regarding the upcoming trip.
  • Write about the destination research you’ve done so far.
  • What “Must See” suggestions have you gotten from others? Which of these are a good fit for you and interest you the most?
  • What fascinates you about your destination and why?
  • What is the funniest thing that’s happened in your journey?
  • What surprised you most about the people, culture, food, etc.?
  • What advice would you give others about going to this destination?

How To Use Your Free Printable Journal

Remember that the more frequently you write and the more information you include, the more you will appreciate your travel journal after you get home.

Here are more ideas when journalling your travel adventures:

  • Plan your vacation with the help of your journal. Discuss why you choose the destination, time, excursions, and so forth.
  • Write about how you picture your trip unfolding and what you want to accomplish, then compare that to how it actually happened!
  • How did you travel? Plane, train, automobile? Did anything noteworthy happen? What did you enjoy (and not enjoy) about traveling?
  • Write about what happens to you and how you feel while you’re on your journey, as well as your daily activities and experiences.
  • Discuss someone you met or something you witnessed that left an impression on you.
  • Consider what surprised or shocked you, what made you smile, or what you learned on that day.
  • Include photographs , ticket stubs, and other vacation keepsakes.
  • Include a map and highlight the locations you visited.
  • Document your thoughts once you return from your travels. Would you have changed anything, would you return for another visit – why or why not?

Fill your printable travel journal to your heart’s content! You can always print more pages to fill!

Every trip deserves to be remembered!

More travel journaling tips.

While journaling, remember to:

  • Add the date and title to your entries and memorable moments.
  • Write every day and include plenty of details like sights, sounds, smells, feelings, and thoughts.
  • If you’re in a rush and cannot document your day, at least make a few notes with any important details. Bullet points are your friend! Then finish the entry as soon as possible as memories tend to fade after a few days.
  • If you’re journaling for someone other than yourself, (much like I do with my trip reports!) consider questions they might ask and information that might be helpful to the reader at a later date.
  • Once you’ve completed your travel journal, the precious memories of your trip and all that you saw and learned will be safely documented forever.

Hi, I'm Jessie

what type of traveler are you

there are many reasons i love travel; the way it connects people and allows them to share an experience, the feeling of ultimate freedom it provides, the way it awakens a sense of curiosity.

While I think guidebooks can be a helpful resource, I believe the beauty of travel comes less in seeing sites and more in experiencing places.

Now, I realize that the definition of an amazing trip varies from person to person, which is exactly why I designed this quiz to provide unique travel recommendations based on your personality.

Get ready to explore the world #BeyondTheGuidebook!

A little bit about me:

  • I started traveling solo after friends bailed on a summer trip through Europe. It is now my preferred way to see the world.
  • I'm passionate about not putting off your dreams, whether they're travel-related or not. The time to live your life shouldn't be restricted to two weeks per year vacation or retirement. It should be NOW.
  • Some of my favorite trips have been trekking through Nepal's Annapurna Himalayas, backpacking solo through South America for three months, exploring remote Bhutan, and hiking and wine tasting my way around the Azores.
  • I've been featured in top publications like USA TODAY, CNN, Forbes, Business Insider, and AOL Travel, as well as a travel web series with Bravo and a featured guest on BBC Travel TV (twice!).

The travel journal prompts cover adventure, food, vacations, and more!

Travel Journal Ideas for Kids

I think downtime during the summer months is really important for kids but I’ve also seen what happens when they don’t pick up a pencil for a few months ( yikes !)  It can be a rude awaking when they head back to school so I’m always looking for fun ways to encourage them to write a little throughout the summer.

We’re all about DIY which is why I like to create a Road Trip binder and include things that are very specific to our trip.

If you’re just starting to travel with your kids, check out Why Kids Need to Travel & What They Learn on the Trip for inspiration!

If there’s one thing I love it’s family vacations (and the occasional couples trip when we get the chance). If there’s another thing I love it’s making free printables. And if there’s another another thing I love it’s combining the two. Okay, that’s a lot of things I love and more than slightly confusing. Anyway, today I’ve got some free printable pages for you to create a travel journal. This is a perfect homeschool project for your kiddos to assemble before your vacation and then work on while you’re gone. Or just work on one together as a family to record all your fun trip memories! Some links contain affiliates, all opinions are my own.

Assembling your travel journal.

Assembling this DIY travel journal might even be more fun than filling it out. You start with a stack of brown paper lunchbags. Three or four is a good number for this project. Stack them on top of each other alternating between fronts and backs. You want the lunch sack opening between every other page. Then fold the stack in half and either using a stapler or a sewing machine create a binding. Then all you have to do it cut out the squares from the free travel journal printable pages and glue them on the lunchbag pages.

free printable pages

what can you do?

You’ll get two free printable pages that you can print out as much as you want. You can glue them to the pages of your lunchbag book, or you can even use them to slide into the “pockets” created from the openings in the bags. Those openings are also great places to store pictures or mementos from your trip!

pictures and printables

I wanted a lot of variety when I was creating the pages so your kids could have fun with it. There’s space for journaling, drawing, recording details, or whatever their imagination decides! And of course these printables can be used for more than just a travel journal. It can be used for a book report, nature project, daily journal–the sky’s the limit!

This is the best laid out PDF planner I've ever used. I've tried several and my favorite stopped being made. I downloaded this to try on a Boox Air 3 but it works just as well on my iPad Air in ZoomNotes. The Home Page, the icons, the well thought out Year, Month, Week, and Day pages are truly amazing. Also, the layout and amount of links on each page is terrific. One thing I disliked on previous planners is navigation -- always multiple steps. With this, all of those connections are well linked. I also love the minimalist design as a result of making this for e-reader screens. No fluff, just elegant lines and tons and tons of helpful pages. PLUS you can customize by picking from various templates for the different elements of the planner. Overall a superb design and planner. Tip: watch the help videos before you customize.

A travel journal is so much more than just a keepsake. A kids’ travel journal is a great way for your children to reflect on their experiences and remember each trip. It’s also a unique and fun way to get their creative juices flowing.

sequoia national park with kids

I also love that keeping a journal helps children improve their writing skills. Plus, creating your travel journal lets you personalize it based on your kids’ personalities, interests, etc.

If your family enjoys traveling as much as we do, a travel journal is a great way to help your kid remember each adventure. Here’s a round-up of tips that can help you make the perfect travel journal for your kids.

How To Make A Travel Journal For Kids

What You’ll Need

  • Blank journal
  • Blank envelopes
  • Writing utensils ( pencils or pens )
  • Colored pencils or crayons
  • Travel-themed stickers

Instructions

Step 1: decorate and personalize the cover..

Before your child begins filling the inside of their travel journal, have them take a few minutes and decorate the outside, making it their own.

Tell them to let the creative juices flow as they decide how to cover the front and back cover. They can use stickers, and scraps of paper, or create artwork.

It’s fun to write out the year on the front page of the blank journal so when you go back years later, they can reminisce about all the fun adventures.

Step 2: Create tab pages.

Tab pages make it easy to find and separate each location during the year they visit. Tab stickers like these make it easy to make the tab pages. Once you have several tab pages, you can write the place they traveled to on each tab.

Step 3: Glue an envelope onto each tab page.

I like to have my child glue an envelope onto each tab page to have a place to put random keepsakes and mementos from the trip. It’s the perfect safe place for tickets from museums, extra photos, receipts, and anything else they want to keep inside the envelope.

With the envelope, they can easily pull out those souvenirs and reminisce about all the fun adventures they had during the trip.

Step 4: Create!

This part is entirely up to you and your child! Encourage your child to create a travel diary they can be excited about. Crafts are among the best activities to reduce screen time.

Your child can decorate and organize the pages of their travel journal however they want. You can use a portable printer to print photos and then glue them to pages in the journal. They can draw pictures to remember their trip.

Or, they can write entries for each trip using the prompts listed further down in this article.

Printable Travel Journal for Kids

A printable travel journal for kids to use during a trip

One of the things I have exercised with my kids for many years is having them travel journal during our trips.  Keeping a travel journal is a fun activity for youngsters and an incredible way to preserve memories.  My kids and I often go back and read the things they wrote on various holidays.

A printable travel journal for kids to use during a trip

When Noah was in 4th grade we went and lived in Honduras for 4 or 5 weeks. I had each kid journal off and on while we were there. A few months ago we came across his journal and read it. As I write this he is now a sophomore in high school, so this was about 6 years ago. In his travel journal, he goes on and on about how disgusting the bathrooms were!  Now keep in mind, we have done all these unbelievable things in Honduras. We snorkeled in the Bay Islands, went zip lining in Copan , and lots more.  It was amusing that all he wrote about was the bathrooms, but he was right, they were awful!  This was his first time in a 3rd world nation and he was making observations only a 9 year old boy can make. It was neat to find out what made the biggest impression on him even if it was a little silly.

Travel Journal for Kids

To help you get started, I have printable travel journals for kids. This one is for preschool and young elementary children. All you have to do is print them out and then let them start filling them out. There are three different pages you will need to print out.

Cover Page Printable

This cover page allows your child to take ownership of their travel journal.

Daily Journal Printable

You will want to print out one of these travel journal pages for each day that you will be traveling. For example, if you are traveling for 5 days print out 5 copies.

Daily Drawing Printable

In addition to the daily travel journal sheet you will want to print out this page for each day you are traveling. Sometimes the best way for kids to document is through art. This printable allows them to draw what they did that day.

activities for kids

I recommend getting a 1-inch binder and hole punching the sheets and keeping them in the binder. Or you could just staple them, that works too!

And don’t forget some pencils and crayons.

Printable Travel Journal for Tweens

This printable Kid’s Travel Journal and Fun Guide is more for upper elementary students and tweens. The travel journal includes  26 Pages of Trip Planning Worksheets, Car Games, Travel Journal Pages, Travel Itineraries, and more! You can customize your journal by printing out as many copies of the journal pages as needed.

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner !

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO . If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld .

Rent Clothes

Rent clothes for your trip with Travel Style Expert for only $50 a month! The first 30 days are free!

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator . If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar . They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If I am going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean I use Apple Vacations .

Rent a Car or Take a Lyft

More often than not Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit ! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars .

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase .

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.

Travel Journal

Sweet, sweet journey! But how to keep all beautiful sights in mind?

One way to do that is to start journaling! A travel journal is a written account of one's trips that serves as both a personal record and a way of sharing experiences with others. It is a medium for capturing the essence of a journey, both in words and in images. A travel journal can be as simple as a notebook filled with scattered thoughts and observations, or as complex as a professionally designed scrapbook. Regardless of format, a travel journal is a timeless way of documenting a journey and preserving memories for posterity.

The key advantage of a travel journal is that it gives travelers the opportunity to record their experiences in real time. This allows them to capture the essence of a place before time and memory cause it to blur and fade. It also allows travelers to observe and reflect on their world travel experience, to recall moments that may have escaped them, and to look more deeply into their short, but precious adventure.

However, creating a travel journal can be a time-consuming task that requires creativity, patience, and a good eye for design. That's where premade travel journal templates come in.

Start a Journaling Habit with Premade Templates!

If you are searching for a nice method of starting a journal, you are almost there! Using premade templates for travel journals can have lots of benefits that can make your travel experience more enjoyable and efficient. So let’s take a look!

Firstly, journal templates can save you time. Rather than starting from scratch and designing your journal layout from the ground up, you can simply choose a template that suits your needs.

Secondly, premade templates can help you save money. Here, on TheGoodocs, one may find only free resources without the necessity of a subscription and email confirmation. You are free to choose whatever template you need and save it quickly.

Another benefit is that our free travel journal templates can provide inspiration and structure. Sometimes when we're overwhelmed with the sheer amount of things to document from our travels, it can be hard to know where to start. A template can provide you with a starting point that can help you organize your thoughts and memories. Apart from that, templates are editable documents that can be changed multiple times and even provide access to previous versions. Thus, it is convenient to work on Google Docs, Slides, or Sheets.

Saving a Template

Here, on TheGoodocs, it is easy to find all kinds of templates, including different designs of free travel journal templates in Google Docs: bright, elegant, watercolor-themed, abstract, and illustrated.

Of course, when it comes to traveling experience, it is better to choose printable travel journal templates with nature and sightseeing elements.

To save a template, simply click the Edit Template button and follow simple instructions.

Let’s Customize the Journal!

And now it’s time to be creative (if you need that)!

Premade templates are customizable to fit your specific needs. Many templates come in formats that can be edited, meaning you can change the colors, fonts, and even the layout of the template to make it unique to your travel journal. This allows you to create a design that reflects your personal style and preferences.

If you are working with a travel journal template in Google Docs, it is easy to use the upper menu and the toolbar to insert images or add additional blocks to write. If you are a big fan of writing, simply copy the page and you will have the same formatted page to continue with!

Live, love, and travel! And don’t forget to use a free printable travel journal template to make lasting memories :)

Make a Printable Travel Journal

A Travel Journal…everybody needs one!

Hello my Graphics Fairy Friends! Heather from Thicketworks here with a fun and easy Printable Travel Journal Cover.

After all, even if we can’t fly to Paris or Istanbul tomorrow, we need a place to dream about the day we set sail!

Make a Printable Travel Journal

I’ve prepared a set of Four Printables for you.

Each image is sized to print on an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of plain white cardstock.

Note: Laserjet prints were used in this demonstration. If you choose to use Inkjet prints, be aware that they may smear when Distress Inks are applied.

Printable Travel Journal printable with hole punch and trim

Here’s a list of the items used to create this Travel Journal…

  • 4 Sheets of midweight white cardstock, printed with the provided image files
  • 2 sheets of midweight chipboard
  • 3 One Inch Book Rings
  • A Hole Punch
  • A Corner Rounder
  • Dresden Trim
  • Spray Mount
  • A Metal Ruler
  • A Craft Blade + cutting surface
  • A Sanding Sponge
  • A small container
  • A paint brush
  • Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel
  • A Heat Tool
  • Distress Inks: Black Soot , Salty Ocean , Mowed Lawn , Wild Honey , Ripe Persimmon
  • Ink Blending Tool
  • A Spray Bottle of Water
  • Black Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue
  • A pencil or pen
  • Standard 3-Ring Notebook Paper
  • VersaMark Pigment Inkpad
  • Your favorite Script Stamp
  • Gold Embossing Powder

How to create this Travel Journal:

Begin by printing each of the Free Printable Travel Collage Sheets – one each on an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of white cardstock.

Use a good quality Spray Mount to carefully adhere each sheet of printed cardstock to either side of a midweight chipboard sheet , aligning the edges as accurately as possible.

When finished, you should have two sturdy covers with printed images on each side – one for the front, one for the back.

If necessary, trim the cardstock to fit the chipboard:

cutting pages with ruler and knife

Use a sanding sponge to neaten the edges:

If you like, round the corners:

For a slightly distressed glossy finish on the “Travel Journal” & “Home Again” labels, try embossing with Glycerin!

A close up of a bottle of vegetable glycerin with printables

Pour a small amount into a container, and paint it onto the surface of the label area:

painting glycerine on travel journal page

Moving quickly (to prevent the Glycerin from drying) – cover the area with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel:

adding embossing powder to travel journal page

Tap off the excess , and use your Heat Tool to melt the UTEE , creating a glossy, yet slightly distressed protective surface over the text:

Next, apply Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of all four pages using a Blending Tool.

Be sure to work in a swirling motion:

inking edges of page

Now add intense areas of Salty Ocean Distress Ink!

I decided to use this gorgeous blue for the Oceans on the map…

adding blue ink to pages

Color in the Land Masses with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink:

Add touches of variety with Wild Honey Distress Ink:

adding yellow distress ink to page

Continue this process on the other side of the Travel Journal Covers , this time adding Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink to warm up the imagery…

adding orange ink to page with lady

If you like a bit of blotchiness (I do!) – sprinkle or spray large drops of water onto the surface of the blended Distress Inks.

Allow the water to ‘bleach’ the inks for a minute or two, then dry with a Heat Tool.

spraying water on page

Once the surface has dried completely, draw a bead of adhesive along the outer edges of the Travel Journal, and adhere strips of Dresden Trim:

adding tacky glue to edge

Using the 3-hole notebook paper as a guide , determine where to add holes for the book rings:

pencil with rings and paper

Align the paper exactly where you want it to lie in the completed book, then trace the holes:

marker holes with a pencil

Punch the holes , and then use the first cover to determine the placement of the holes in the other cover:

punching holes in journal

Add splatters of watery Black Acrylic Craft Paint to create more depth:

adding black splatters to journal page

Tone down the Dresden Trim , and reinforce the darkened edges with the same mixture:

adding ink to Dresden gold trim

For the final touch, add a layer of wispy gold embossed script in random areas on all four sides:

The 3 Book Rings secure a generous amount of notebook paper inside…and this Travel Journal is now ready to use!

Time to start dreaming….

The splattered and blotched Distress Inks create a glowing backdrop for the delicate gold embossing:

I love the way that the water droplets create organically shaped blotches , adding  subtle complexity on the surface of the rich pigments:

While we may not be venturing to London or Paris anytime soon, we can now record all of the wonders that we dream of visiting one day…

Thank you Heather!!

January 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm

Oh Heather!! My heart is beating really fast again and it’s all because of your GORGEOUS journal! I have a real weakness for pretty journals. I love, love, love traveling but since I have to earn a living too, I travel in my imagination all the time. This journal embodies all that I dream of. I have seen people create such beauties but given my very limited PS skills, I could only drool. I even bought a printable journal set on etsy last year to satiate my journal obsession. Now, thanks to you, I can create multiple ones with different stamps/color schemes etc. I have scored some pretty paper packs in letter size that could be the insides of my journal. I think….I could even use the designs you shared in your Printable mini-book project without folding them…..wheels are churning fast and smoke is coming out of my ears:) As usual, you just know what your readers love and you know that we love EVERYTHING you create! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this and everything you share!! PS: If I may suggest….if one doesn’t have the 3 rings, you could take the whole journal (incl. inside papers) to a local office supplies store and they will do ring binding for under $3 in most cases. You can also substitute sketch paper/water color paper etc. inside this journal if you wanna doodle during travels.

January 27, 2017 at 11:56 am

Yay! I’m so happy that this will be of use to you, Rupa! It’s SO exciting to witness your creative excitement! I have such a wonderful time designing with Graphics Fairy Images…it’s as though the entire creative Universe is available to work with…

I love all the suggestions that you have made, from binding, to using WHATEVER papers you choose! I selected Notebook Paper only as a way to make this super-accessible for all. Bless you for your enthusiasm, your support and your Creativity! xoxo

January 28, 2017 at 9:21 pm

The three ring binding though makes it easier to add papers when needed. You are inspiring all of us to try new things, techniques and push our creativity. Most of all, it is giving us confidence and joy everyday. What a journey you are taking us along!

What a lovely message, Rupa! I like the versatility and simplicity of the Book Rings, but I love your suggestions, too. If you feel inspiration and are growing in creative confidence, then I’m THRILLED! So blessed to be taking this journey with you. xox

Heather, I have decided I need a Crop-A-Dile…yes I do! There are several diff hole size punches that come in Crop-A-Dile. Which is the most common size or most versatile if you are able to make a recommendation please? I wish I could get multiple Crop-A-Dile punches but it ain’t happenin’ 🙂 Thank you in advance.

January 26, 2017 at 4:18 pm

Hi Rupa! I’m thrilled you will be giving yourself this gift…I waited for years before investing in one, and I wish I hadn’t waited…I find that I get the most use from the Standard Crop-A-Dile – 1/8 inch and 3/16 inch holes are a breeze to cut through paper, cardboard, plastic, even thin wood and metal. It can set eyelets in these same sizes as well. For my needs, this is perfect.

Thank you for your recommendation.

My pleasure Rupa 🙂

Heather, I finally finished this journal with some Dresden trim directly from dresden ? My sister in law was visiting there in Feb and I got some trim, it is really pretty. I missed using corner punch and had missed gold stamping too but the latter is now taken care of. It adds a gorgeous touch. I should follow instructions every step of the way instead of looking at finished photos at times and doing my own thing. I once again concluded that you are a genius, even in the placement of stamps that makes all layers so cohesive. My stamp had a border and some of that boundary is showing, not desirable. Anyway. Thanks so much for this simple yet gorgeous, useful project, will be making more. I had previously just covered a note book with pretty travel themed paper but this is now ready for travels,

June 9, 2017 at 8:23 am

Wow! Oh, Rupa – I want to see your journal! It sounds divine…and Dresden from DRESDEN?!?! How glorious. I love it that you ‘do your own thing’…that’s always my goal, darling. And yes, the added layers of gold embossed stamping really make it all come together, don’t they? It’s always a joy to hear from you, and I wish you deliriously happy travels – whether Imaginal or REAL! xox

Download your free kids’ travel diary for the holidays

Keeping a diary can help your kids manage their feelings, develop their writing skills and remember all their adventures.

Many schools tell parents to keep a travel diary if they plan to take the children on a holiday during school time.

Often the children will present news about their holidays with the diary when they return. A diary can help them put their thoughts together.

Travel diary

Here are a few tips on how to incorporate a travel diary into your holiday.

  • Pick a regular time for the kids to write. One of the best times is when you return to the hotel room at the end of the day. That way the adventures are fresh in their minds. It’s a nice way to wind down before bed.If you have early risers, you could get them to write when they wake up – so you can get a few more minutes snooze time. Or take the diary to the hotel breakfast buffet – then you can linger over coffee while they write.
  • It helps if the kids have a set of questions to answer. A worksheet can prompt discussion. Otherwise, the travel diary can turn into a written version of the bland dinner table conversation: “What did you do today? Answer:  Nothing”. Be specific. Try questions such as: What was something red you saw today?
  • Bring a pencil case with coloured pencils. Kids love to draw. For little ones, who are just starting to write, this may be easier than writing a story. Primary school children often write a story then illustrate it in class. They will be used to this routine.
  • Bring sticky tape or glue. Kids love to collect entrance tickets. They can stick them onto the pages.

  • Bring the travel diary out when the kids are 18 or 21. They will love the memories of their adventures in their own words.
  • You don’t have to go on holidays to keep a holiday diary. The school holidays are almost upon us. Even if you are having a staycation – get the kids to keep a diary to remember what they did each day and practice their writing. We know that the first writing task in the new term will be “What did you do on holiday?”

Family Travel has created two FREE travel diaries for you to download. One is for kids travelling to a holiday destination. The other is for kids staying at home these holidays.

Included in both are worksheets for the kids to fill out with specific questions they can answer such as “What was the best meal you ate on this trip?” and “What was noisy today?”. The diary also has plenty of space to draw and stick daily treasures. It will keep your budding travel writers entertained and it’s a great way to show teachers what they have learned overseas.

Zurich to Buy AIG’s Travel Insurance Business for $600 Million

travel diary worksheet

Zurich early Wednesday said it is purchasing the global personal travel insurance business of American International Group (AIG) for $600 million.

The deal, according to Zurich, may include an additional payment if specific targets are met after the sale, which is expected to close by the end of 2024. .

Zurich called travel insurance a “priority” and said AIG’s Travel Guard business will expand its U.S. footprint as a part of Zurich’s travel insurance provider, Cover-More Group, making it a leader in the line.

“This transaction is a great strategic fit, which enhances Zurich’s existing capabilities and makes us a leading travel insurance provider across all regions,” said Cara Morton, CEO of Zurich Global Ventures. “The acquisition expands our retail customer base and aligns with our ambition to continuously enhance our offerings, while providing world-class protection during every step of our customers’ travels.”

Cover-More’s capabilities will be enhanced by AIG’s global IT platform. The deal also includes AIG’s global service centers. AIG said the transaction excludes travel coverages offered through AIG’s A&H business.

AIG CEO Peter Zaffino said the sale is “another important strategic step in positioning AIG for the future.” He said AIG will work closely with Zurich “to ensure a seamless transition for employees, customers and our global distribution partners.”

Zurich said the bolt-on should result in annual gross written premiums of about $2 billion for the new Cover-More Group.

Bank of America analysts said Zurich looks to have made a “sensible acquisition” that could increase earnings per share 1-2% after integration.
