What’s a fingerprint poster??

I’m glad you asked! A fingerprint poster is a way to commemorate all the guests at an event like a baby shower or birthday party. Guests add their fingerprint and sign their name as a clever way to complete the picture. Common fingerprint posters are trees where guests’ fingerprints are leaves on the branches. But I have lots of fun designs where fingerprints can be balloons, flower petals, spots on a giraffe, or fill in a pineapple. The same concept applies for signature posters where guests sign an element of the picture. When it’s completed, you can frame it as a keepsake and add it to the room décor!

Safari / Jungle Themed First Birthday Party Part III – DIY Decoration Ideas + Free Printables Included!

Let’s move on to some of the DIY decoration ideas that are so easy and cheap to make and were such a big hit at the party! Because I love my readers, I will provide many printables in this post that you can download for FREE, including jungle animals cupcake toppers & toothpick stickers, ‘Happy Birthday’ pennant banner, ‘‘I AM 1’ high chair banner and others. This is Part III of the Safari / Jungle Themed First Birthday Party post series so if you haven’t read the others go check them out, or you’re missing out on some great dessert , appetizers, finger food & snack ideas!

Another cute idea is to make a PICTURE CLOTHESLINE to show 0-12 month photos of your little ones. You will need a string, tape and clothespins. I’m pretty sure you can find these around your house. You can get creative a bit and use chalkboard clothespins so you can write the months or custom message for each month. I bought these at Michael’s – 2 for $1.50 – and I plan on re-using them at future parties.

All the jungle labels, stickers, banners I used at the party are FREE to download and print. I either found them on some great websites or I just designed them myself. I found these cute LEAVES LABELS on Pinterest and printed them out for FREE. You can find other designs as well with lions, giraffes, elephants, crocodiles and hippos on the same website.

For the HIPPO TOOTHPICK STICKERS I found a hippo image online and designed the round stickers using pixlr.com . You can download the JUNGLE ANIMALS TOOTHPICK STICKERS for FREE and in case you have other hungry animals around, I’ve included some images of giraffes, lions, monkeys and elephants as well. Plus a few Happy Birthday stickers because in the end we’re celebrating a birthday here! Just print them on heavy cardstock paper, cut them out and tape them to toothpicks. Some of the animal photos are from profilepicturemaker.com, just check out their stickers library . They have a cute African Safari Photo Frame as well and other frames, labels etc. that you can customize and download for free.

As I’ve mentioned in my first post, if you don’t want to spend the extra time to make your own fondant toppers no worries, I’ve got you covered! You can download my FREE printable for JUNGLE ANIMALS CUPCAKE TOPPERS . Just print them on heavy cardstock paper, cut them out, tape them to ice cream sticks or toothpicks and pop them on cupcakes! Cute and simple decorations!

You can also print the free “BEWARE OF WILD ANIMALS” banner below from Moms and Munchkins.

This is unrelated but I had to share a few pictures! Daniel got as a birthday gift from his godparents a custom-made book “Daniel Goes to the Zoo” . They had no idea what the party theme was so it was quite funny to see this gift. You can easily adapt most of the ideas from this post for a Zoo Birthday Party as well 🙂 !

Hi… I found this page extremely attactive… I am a rookie mom and completely new to party ideas.. I am planning for my son’s birthday.. You should be able to find it at Walmart… not sure what canon printer you have but most of them work just fine with this type of paper. It doesn’t have to be super thick by the way, just slightly thicker than regular paper so that the toppers can hold their shape better.

If you want, I can email you an image with the pendant without the letters and you can write the name you need. I used http://www.fotor.com/ to edit the photo and wrote the letters using the Lucida Calligraphy font.

Wild Animals Birthday Party with Free Printables

Inspiration and free printables for a wild animal / african safari themed birthday party.

When my oldest turned two, he really liked animals. I bet your children also go through phases of what they like, and of course, the Birthday Party Themes are in line. We’ve had a Planes phase, a John Deere phase, a Pirates phase and a couple of others. I picked the Rainbow and Balloons Birthday Party Theme, though. Today I’m bringing you tons of inspiration for a Wild Animals / African Safari Themed Birthday Party plus a set of free printables. But if you need more inspiration, be sure to check out my Pinterest Board , and be sure to follow me on Pinterest while you are there.

Invitations & Stationary

In the Printable Pack, you will get the invitation (without text, so you can add your own), as well as small labels you can use for party packs or food. I also include three animal print backgrounds; this should help you out with any stationery you need for the party! I found the animal print backgrounds on freepik.com .

Wild Animals Party Decorations

This is a fun theme for party decorations! Use natural textures, like a burlap table cloth or backdrop, wooden chopping boards, and baskets to serve food. Then add some colour and animal prints. I used yellow, orange, blue and green, but you can choose the colours you want. Add some leopard/zebra print serviettes and wooden cutlery to the table.

I wrapped our cutlery holders with the animal prints as well, and you will see small dollar store wild animals hanging out on the table too.

You can also make big cutout animals and paint them in fun colours to display all over your garden. I just let them lean against the plants and fencing. The kids started playing with the animals as well, which was a lot of fun.

How to Make Wild Animal Cutouts out of hardboard:

• Draw the animal silhouettes (also in the printable pack) onto the hardboard using the grid method.
• Cut them using a jigsaw.
• Paint them in fun colours and use them as decor for the party

Party Packs

I always use brown paper bags for party packs. I placed a strip of animal print with a small name tag on all the party packs. With the treats, I included one small dollar store animal and homemade binoculars.

How to make binoculars from toilet paper rolls:

• Save up toilet paper rolls (ask your colleagues at work and family to help if you are short on time).
• Glue the animal print of your choice to the rolls individually with double-sided sellotape.
• Attach two rolls with hot glue, and you are done.
• Add felt trimmings if you want the extra detail with some hot glue.

Some fun activities for the children are colouring pages, which is also included in the printable set. Some more activity ideas:

• Pin the tail on the zebra
• Get a fun themed pinata
• Throw the ball into the lion’s mouth or
• Toss hoops around a giraffe’s neck

Stay Wild Jungle Party Free Printables

I have been working on this funky and trendy party for a while. I am so excited to see it in all its Jungle Birthday Party glory! You see, my adorable and ever-so-chubby nephew is turning 2 and I was pumped to be able to design the party art and these Stay Wild Jungle Party Free Printables  for the big day.

My nephew LOVES everything jungle related. He runs around with his stuffed lion roaring up a storm. I am quite sure if he could drive he’d have a daily safari in a camo Jeep. He is the ultimate adventurist!

My sister-in-law and I settled on the theme “Stay Wild” and I can’t wait to see what she has planned for the big bash!

This party design started out with these 5, yes FIVE, poster printables. She is using them for a staggered background for the main party table. You can download and print them by clicking on the link below each picture design. Don’t miss the special instructions on how to personalize them with the birthday boy or girls name at the bottom of this post.

Party Palette

When you design and set up this party, there will be a base of black, white, and metals. It is a monochromatic party that is all the rage these days. Just remember, when you have a monochromatic party, you need to have a pop of color to grab the eye and make it all come together. The pop of color is the best part because you can personalize this party with the color pop. Bright blue for your nephew, hot pink for your daughter, or lime green for your niece!

These pops of color can come through helium balloons, streamers, fans, and banners. You can also provide a bright cake as the party centerpiece for a great effect!

The pops of color are key to the party, but the monochromatic printables are oh-so-hip! To get the best printing results, first, download the image to your computer before you try to print. I often get asked what type of paper I prefer for printing. Here is my recommendation for cardstock and I would also recommend this photo paper for a glossy, professional look. Another fun tip is to print out on these sticker sheets and then cut to size for personalized stickers.

Party Personalization

You can personalize your party signs easily! You can add a name like I did with my nephews above, or you can write Happy Birthday! Welcome to the party! or anything else, with  PicMonkey , where you can customize these Thanksgiving coloring pages free printable. If you need a step-by-step tutorial (with pictures!), see this tutorial I have here.

To get the best printing results, first, download the image to your computer before you try to print. You can also print at your favorite 1-hr print place.

“Well… I had no choice but to throw an epic first birthday for my son. Initially, I wanted to just order pizza and toss everyone in the pool. Try these safari cards:

1. box card.

Create a happy home for your safari animals in this pop-up box with cut-out leaves, grass and trees.

• Using the box card template , cut the box design out of kraft card. Matt and layer the flaps with green card and leaf print printables.
• Cut two 2.5 x 11cm strips of green card. Score a 1cm-wide tab on either side of both. Put double-sided tape along the tabs. Attach inside your box, at 2cm intervals from the front, and approx. 1.5cm down from the top.
• Cut some grass for the front of your box card. Snip randomly into a strip of green paper, or die cut strips of grass using the Funky Floral die set. Attach using PVA glue inside the front and back of the box, so that tufts are poking out.
• Fussy cut a lion, crown, large tree, medium tree and monkey. Pierce a hole through the monkey’s paw, and attach to the large tree using a brad.
• Position the elements inside the box card as desired. Finish by backing the ‘Go Wild’ sentiment onto a die-cut circle and attach using acetate.

2. Hear me roar!

Tuck foliage behind a stitched aperture and hide a tiger among the grass for an on-safari feel! Hide loose ends by adding a frame over the top of the aperture.

3. Circle of life

Cut circles in the design for your safari animals to pop through and say hello! Tuck leaves and foliage behind the circles for added jungle vibes.
