How Do You Get To Pig Island in Koh Samui?

Getting to Pig Island near Koh Samui is an adventure in itself. The island is only accessible by boat, which adds to the excitement of visiting this unique destination. There are several tour operators that offer day trips to the island, so visitors can hire a private long-tail boat or join a group tour from various locations such as Mae Nam, Bophut, and Choeng Mon beaches.

The journey from Koh Samui to Pig Island takes around 30 minutes by speedboat or 45 minutes by long-tail boat. Visitors can choose between these two options depending on their preference and budget. Speedboats are faster but more expensive than long-tail boats.

Once visitors arrive at Pig Island, they will be greeted with stunning views of the surrounding sea and lush greenery. There is an entrance fee of 50THB / person (cash only) to Koh Madsum that all visitors are required to pay upon arrival. This fee goes towards maintaining the island’s natural beauty and preserving its wildlife.

It’s important to note that Pig Island is a popular tourist destination, so it’s recommended to book in advance to secure a spot on a tour. Tour prices typically include transportation from Koh Samui, snorkelling equipment for exploring the underwater world around the island, and lunch.

LONG TAIL BOATS HEADING OUT TO PIG ISLAND IN KOH SAMUI

Option 1: Private Long-Tail Boat

For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, want to experience traditional Thai transportation methods, or prefer privacy and flexibility, hiring a private long-tail boat is your best option. These boats have an open-air design that allows passengers to feel the sea breeze and take in the scenery at a slower pace.

You can negotiate with the boat operator regarding the price and schedule that suits your preference. The cost varies depending on the distance, duration, and number of passengers. It usually ranges from 2,000 to 5,000 THB per hour for up to six people.

Moreover, hiring a private long-tail boat allows you to customize your itinerary according to your liking. You can decide how much time you want to spend on each island and which activities you want to do. You can also avoid crowds and have more space for yourself.

However, there are some disadvantages of hiring a private long-tail boat as well. First, it can be expensive if you are traveling alone or in a small group. Second, finding a reliable and trustworthy operator might be challenging since there are many scams and frauds in the area.

When negotiating with the boat operator regarding the price, be polite but firm. Do not accept their first offer since it is usually higher than what they expect to get. Try to find out their bottom line and work your way up from there. Also, be aware of any hidden fees such as fuel surcharge or entrance fee that might be added later on.

Top Tip : Do not pay the full cost upfront to the owner of the long-tail boat. Instead, pay half when you first board, and the remaining money upon completion of your tour.

Option 2: Group Tour

If you prefer convenience and affordability over privacy and flexibility, joining a group tour is your best option. There are many tour operators that offer day trips or half-day trips to Pig Island from Koh Samui. These are normally combined with a snorkelling tour to Koh Tan.

The cost of joining a group tour usually ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 THB per person depending on the package inclusion such as lunch, insurance, snorkelling equipment rental fee etc. It is recommended that you book in advance since most tours require a minimum number of participants.

However, there are some disadvantages of joining a group tour as well. First, you have limited time and freedom since you have to follow the itinerary set by the tour company. Second, you might not enjoy some activities or destinations included in the package.

Supporting Sustainability on Pig Island

Interacting with and feeding Pig Island’s adorable pigs is an experience that is a unique, and one that has gained a lot of attention and love from people all over the world. However, as with any tourist attraction, there are concerns about sustainability and responsible tourism practices.

Fortunately, Mr Kitt, the owner of Pig Island near Koh Samui, along with GoJo Tours, has taken steps to promote sustainable practices and ensure that visitors can continue to enjoy this beloved destination for years to come.

One way that Gojo has promoted sustainability on Pig Island is by encouraging visitors not to bring their own food for the pigs, and instead relying on the host’s offerings of tasty corn and watermelon treats. This practice ensures that the pigs are getting proper nutrition. It also gives visitors an opportunity to take an active role in supporting the pigs’ well-being.

The benefits of promoting sustainability on Pig Island extend beyond just preserving natural resources or protecting animal welfare. Sustainable practices help create more stable economies by ensuring long-term viability of local businesses like Pig Island in Koh Samui. By taking care of our environment today, we can ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy it too.

Best Time to Visit Koh Samui and The Islands

Another factor that affects your experience on Pig Island is weather conditions. The best time of year to visit this island paradise depends on what kind of weather conditions you prefer. If you like sunny days with clear blue skies and warm temperatures, then visiting between December and April would be ideal for you.

On the other hand, if you prefer cooler temperatures with the possibility of occasional rain showers, then visiting between May and October would be better suited for your preferences. Keep in mind that even during the rainy season; there are still plenty of sunny days where swimming with pigs becomes an unforgettable experience.

However, it’s important to note that during the monsoon / rainy season, from late October until mid-December, heavy rains can occur frequently causing the sea to become rough and unsafe for swimming. During monsoon season, it’s best to avoid visiting Pig Island as the weather conditions can be unpredictable.

These are our favourite companies to use when we travel to Thailand. They consistently turn up the best deals and offer great customer service, and overall, are better than their competitors. These companies are always our starting point when we need to book a flight, hotel, tour, transportation etc.

Book Your Flight : The best and easiest way to find cheap flights is to use Skyscanner or Kiwi . They compare all of the available prices across every airline to help you compare flights in one place.

We always search using the map feature to find accommodation in the best location. For hostel bookings, we compare reviews on Hostelworld , then check other booking sites to compare prices.

Book a Tour: We mostly travel independently, however, some places are better to visit with a guided tour. We use both  GetYourGuide   and  Viator to find great deals on tours in Thailand.

Book Transportation: Rome2Rio is a great planning tool which allows us to see how to get from point A to point B the best and cheapest way possible. From there, we book our transportation through 12Go.asia to save both money and time. We believe the best way to explore Thailandis by motorbike or bicycle, and BikesBooking.com offer the most competitive prices. If you are planning a road trip, we always use  Rentalcars.com to find the best deals.

We have been using 1Cover for the past 4 years, however, we also recommend World Nomads as many of our fulltime travel friends swear by them.

The story of Pig Island Thailand - Mr. Kitt with the big heart

As the name indicates, Pig Island, is an island with pigs. Not the usual kind of stable pigs covered in mud for sure, but imagine big pigs and small piglets lounging together in the white sand and swimming in the shallow water. Not an everyday imagination, right? And so is the experience of visiting the mad sum island neither. Searching the internet you will find more different stories about the history of Pig Island and how the pigs originally arrived. But the story we were told by our local boat guide was that once koh mudsum was owned by the Kitt family. And at that time the island was not a popular tourist destination and the family lived in silence and tried just to keep the wheels running. One day mr. kitt went to the mainland to visit some family. He passed a market in Surat Thani and there he saw four pigs huddling together away from the rest of the pigs which were soon sold away to farmers and butchers. Mr. Kitt observed that the four pigs looked underfed and scared, so eventually he ended up buying all of them to rescue them from being killed. He really was a man with a big heart, right?! He later found out that the four pigs acted like a little family.  Mr. Kitt brought them back home to his island but within days we realiazed that the pigs needed a lot of food! So he got a problem .. (continues after photo)

"Pig Island" as a strategy for feeding the pigs

He tried one thing after another to figure out what to do and after hours of reflections he finally managed to team up with GoJo Tours from Koh Samui. Together they created “Pig Island” as a way to support him and the pigs. And today they are the only group working directly with Mr. Kitt and the pigs. Their shared project provides feed for the pigs as they bring visitors to the island feeding the pigs, and they donate a percentage of each tour ticket to the local community as well as they ensure environmental sustainability at Koh Madsum. And the pigs? They are really thriving, we believe. The four pigs are now a group of more than 30 pigs with more than three generations. They spend their day napping in the shade under the big palm tress, cooling off in the ocean and playing with the visitors, when they want. It really seems like these lovely pigs are living the dream life!

How to get to Pig Island near Koh Samui?

When visiting Koh Samui, going on a pig island tour is highly recommended. The only way to get there is by boat and the tour takes about 15-30 minutes from Koh Samui depending on the chosen type of boat. Luckily, you find plenty of guided tours that will take you there. Some of them go there directly and others are a part of a half day trip or full day trip. Really, you cannot visit without booking one of these.    Prior to our visit we randomly talked to our uber driver Soba Jaikwang about our wish to go and within minutes she gave us a list of local operators that could take us.  After contact to more local operators, we can now confirm that some of the best prices for a guided tour to Pig island is found through  GetYourGuide , which offer many different, fun trips to Pig Islands amoung others.

Types of transportation to Pig Island

You have more options for planning a trip to Pig Island Thailand. These include:

  • Private Long-Tail boat
  • Group tour with boat
  • Private Speed Boat

The speedboats are probably the easiest way to get there and also the most comftable, whereas the longtail boats are the classic Thailand boats which is more authentic. We were a small group of four friends going to Koh Madsum and choose to book a private tour to Pig Island with a longtail boat, as we like to do the traditional things.

When deciding on what kind of tour to koh mudsum you want take into consideration how many people you are going . For us, four people, it almost made more sense economically to book a private trip than going on a tour. Also take into consideration the best tour program. You both find half day trips and full day tours combining your visit to Koh Madsum and the wild pigs with other adventures and islands along the way or afterwards. But really, no matter what you choose you will have great fun ! Most of the tours have free hotel transfer service meaning that they will pick you up at your hotel, no matter where you are staying at Koh Samui, and then drive you to the southern most habour of the island, like Thong Krut Pier like us, to reach the chosen type of boat. It is super simple!

If you think whether this trip is worth the money and time, the answer is YES.. when will you ever get the chance to swim with such adorable pigs again ! The price is great value.

In  this  section you can read more about what to do on Koh Madsum or Pig island near Koh Samui .

Entrance fee at Pig Island

Island life at koh mad sum & feeding the pigs.

All around the island you meet the most beautiful beaches, palms and wonderful views to the surrounding islands. Imediately as you arrive you feel like you are in the middle of paradise. And when you feel thirst you find a small beach bar where you can buy refreshments.

And now it is time.. Shortly after arrival you will be met by the small pigs in the waterline. Where some of the pigs are social and hungry, other are relaxing in the shadows of the trees and others are back in their little private pig house. This made us so happy to experience that the pigs always have the option to settle back when they don’t want people starring at them.

In the beach bar you can buy food for the pigs, if you want to. You get the food in a small bag and then you need to fill it into a plate from which the friendly pigs immediately will eat it. Keep tight, we tell you, they are super quick! Also you can fill a water bootle with water from the tank beside the bar and let the pigs drink directly from your waterbottle . Omg this was soooo cute! We have heard that the pigs also love fresh fruit like watermelon and corns , but did not bring this ourself. Let us know, if you try this! Our boat guide was, by the way, super super helpful so show us how to do and what not to do.

And here is a REMINDER for you..!. The pigs are NOT PETS! They are “wild” animals even though they are taking care of  from the owners of the islands and the visitors. They can bite and they will protect their piglets at any time, so remember to approaching the pigs on their terms.

After having fun with the pigs you should definitely spend some time exploring the beaches around the island. You will probably like to shoot a nice photo or two so remember to bring your camera. Go have a dip in the crystal-clear waters and sunbath before you finally hop onto the boat once again and continue your journey from Pig Island, Koh Madsum.

Did you miss the s tory about how the pigs originally came to Pig Island? Read it right  here .

Snorkeling tour in the coral reefs around Pig Island

Close by Pig Island the bigger island named Koh Taen or Koh Tan is located. Most boat tours to Pig Island will take you close by this island by along the way to your pig adventure. For a good reason! Around these islands you find the most vibrant coral reefs and and stunning marine life. This is the perfect place for snorkelling or diving. Imediately as you jump into the water you are joined by the most wonderful fish in all colors and shapes. Once again our local guide from the boat was a real champ, swimming together with us, showing us all the hidden corners using his best skills to attract the fishs. This was magical! If you wear your snorkeling west from the boat when you snorkle wound you are able to lay completely still in the calm open water and that way I managed to get the fish so close by that they starred directly inside my eyes from just outside my mask.

So another great reason for going on a tour to Pig Island when at Koh Samui is the great options for exploring the marine life in the Thailand archipelago. This is win win!

When is the best time to visit Koh Madsum?

Really, you can go to Pig Island all year round. Though, in our opinion the best time to visit Pig Island (Koh Madsum) near Koh Samui in Thailand is during the dry season, which runs from around December to February. During these months, the weather is generally cooler, drier and more pleasant compared to other times of the year, making it ideal for outdoor activities and beach visits like the one to Pig Island Thailand. Visiting during the dry season not only ensures better weather conditions but also clearer water for snorkeling and swimming, providing a more enjoyable experience for your visit to Pig Island and its surrounding areas.

March to May marks the hot season, with higher temperatures and occasional rain, while June to November is the rainy season. The rainy season comes with heavier and more frequent showers, which might affect your travel plans and ability to enjoy Pig Island. This is not being said you won’t have a great adventure and cannot plan to go. We visited in October and the weather was sun and a few clouds in between, but no showers. You cannot trust the weather forecast in Thailand during rainy season. The local operators will let you know if heavy rains and storms will come and will not go, at least not in the longtail boats. As a safety rule, always look for weather conditions prior to your visit to Pig Island (Koh Mudsum).

We recommend visiting Pig Island in Thailand early in the morning or late at the afternoon to avoid the crowd – especially in the main season – cause the island has started being popular! You might even be lucky to have the most wonderful sunsets at Koh Mudsum!

Packinglist for Pig Island day trip

To get you the best tour to Pig Island from Koh Samui, we have created a packing list to make sure you get the most out of the boat tour adventure.

  • Sun Protection . The tropical sun in Koh Samui can be rally intense, especially when you are on the water. Bring along a lot of high SPF sunscreen from back home as sunscreen is expensive in Thailand. We recommend to use allergy friendly, waterproof sunscreen  and this one is our favorite .
  • Eco-Friendly fodder for the pigs. If you plan to feed the pigs, why not bring some pig-safe snacks? However, always check with your tour operator about the appropriate treats to ensure the health and well-being of these adorable animals. They love watermelon, corn and classical dry fodder for pigs.
  • Your favorite swimwear. Your visit to Pig Island will definetely include swimming in the crystal-clear waters alongside the island’s famous pigs. Pack at least one set of swimwear so you can take a dip not to mention to shoot some awesome photos at this paradise island with the pigs.
  • Toilet paper & sanitizer. Yup yup 😉 The toilet facilities at Pig Island well as on the boats, are either non-existing or very poor in relation to hygiene. If you would like to be sure, bring your own toiletpaper and sanitizer and you are good to go.
  • Camera . You cannot visit an island full of pigs without shooting a photo so make sure to bring you camera or iPhone. If you are not having a camera yet, the Sony 7 IV could be a great place to start.
  • Snorkeling gear. While some tours provide snorkeling equipment for the tour to pig island, bringing your own ensures a perfect fit and a more personal experience as you explore the underwater beauty near koh mudsum.
  • Reusable water bottle. Stay hydrated in the heat with a reusable water bottle.
  • Cash for entrance fee and activities. Make sure to bring cash for the entrance, if not included in the price paid at GetYourGuide or other places, and for the bar if you would like some cold refreshments. Also you will find some services like kayak rentals on nearby beaches, which definetely would be fun to do on your tour to Pig Island.
  • Waterproof bag: A lightweight beach bag or backpack is essential for carrying your items during the boat trip and your time on the island. Though, we highly recommend bringing a waterproof or water resistant bag to keep your belongings dry, especially if you are going for the longtail boat tours from Koh Samui. We have this one and really regret we did not bring it on this trip in Thailand.

The Story of Pig Island and How it Began

As you have probably guessed the pigs are not native and it all started with a local man called Mr Kitt.

Mr Kitt lives on Madsum Island with his family and runs a small beach bar. He took a trip over to the mainland to visit family and whilst in the town of Surat Thani he passed through a market selling fresh produce and livestock.

Whilst he was not on the lookout for any livestock Mr Kitt could not help but notice four pigs all huddled together on their own away from the others . All of the pigs here were being sold to farmers and butchers, the four huddled together looked scared and underfed.

Seeing these scared pigs pulled on Mr Kitts’s heartstrings and he decided he could not allow them to be sold for slaughter so he purchased all four of them and loaded them on his boat to return to Madsum Island. He later found out that the four huddled together were a male and a female along with their 2 piglets so he had saved a family.

However looking after what was originally 4 pigs but now many more has been hard, Pigs eat a lot of food – because of this Mr Kitt teamed up with Gojo Tours and opened up to tourists, this helps Mr Kitt to feed his family and his pigs whilst tourists get to see Thailands famous tropical island pigs.

What else is on Madsum (Pig) Island?

Once you’ve had your fill admiring the pigs you can either take a stroll up and down the beach, grab your snorkel and head into the ocean or grab something to eat and drink at the restaurant.

The island is also not only home to pigs, there are also rescued dogs and puppies to have some fun with!

Staying on Madsum Island

If you enjoy the tranquillity of this tiny tropical paradise and would like to stay on Pig Island then you can check out The Treasure .

The Treasure is the only hotel located on the island and is found on the south side.

Snorkelling on Koh Tean

Once you have taken in all there is to see on Pig Island it will be time to head over to its neighbouring larger island Koh Tean often known as Coral Island.

Here the boats stop for about half an hour allowing you to snorkel in the waters just off shore.

Unfortunately when we visited it was very windy so we didn’t have much visibility but we could see plenty of fish swimming below.

The Best Time to Visit

Koh Samui is a year-round destination, however, there are best and worst times to visit depending on what you’re looking for.

Koh Samui is hit by the worst of its rain in October, November and early December , due to this accommodation is much cheaper and the island usually a lot quieter.

If you are looking to dodge the rain then late December – April are the best months to visit, with the temperature rising and rain decreasing as the year goes on.

Final Thoughts

If scratching pigs on a white sandy beach in the tropics is on your bucket list then Pig Island is most definitely the day trip for you!

Running daily from Koh Samui make sure you don’t miss out on seeing these curious Pigs and head to Pig Island to see them lazing around in their tropical paradise.

Discover Pig Island: Koh Samui’s Hidden Travel Gem

Introduction to pig island: koh samui’s hidden gem.

Thailand, a country renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and mouth-watering cuisine, is home to countless hidden gems. One such treasure is the lesser-known Pig Island, or Koh Madsum, located just off the coast of Koh Samui. This idyllic island offers a unique travel experience that combines natural beauty, exotic wildlife, and a tranquil atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for any adventurous traveler.

Discovering the Unspoiled Beauty of Pig Island

Unlike the bustling tourist hotspots of Phuket and Pattaya, Pig Island remains largely untouched by commercial tourism. This unspoiled paradise boasts pristine white sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, and lush tropical vegetation. The island’s small size allows visitors to explore its entirety in a single day, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The Origin of the Name: Pig Island

While the island’s official name is Koh Madsum, it is more commonly referred to as Pig Island due to its unique inhabitants. A small herd of friendly, free-roaming pigs call this island home, providing a unique and delightful sight for visitors. These pigs, unlike their farmyard counterparts, are known to swim in the sea, adding a whimsical touch to the island’s already enchanting atmosphere.

Getting to Pig Island

Reaching Pig Island is a relatively straightforward process. From Koh Samui, visitors can take a short boat ride to the island. Several tour operators offer daily trips to Pig Island, with the option of either a private charter or a shared boat. The journey itself is a scenic experience, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding islands and the vast expanse of the Gulf of Thailand.

What to Expect on Pig Island

Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the island’s friendly pig residents. While the pigs are undoubtedly the main attraction, the island also offers a variety of other activities. Visitors can relax on the beach, swim in the clear waters, or explore the island’s natural beauty. There are also a few small beach bars and restaurants, where visitors can enjoy a refreshing drink or a delicious meal while taking in the stunning ocean views.

Responsible Tourism on Pig Island

As with any destination that involves wildlife, it’s important for visitors to practice responsible tourism. This means not feeding the pigs, as human food can be harmful to their health. It’s also crucial to respect the island’s natural environment by not littering and by sticking to designated paths when exploring. By doing so, we can ensure that Pig Island remains a hidden gem for future generations to discover and enjoy.

Exploring the Unique Attractions of Pig Island

When you think of Thailand, the first things that might come to mind are bustling Bangkok, the historic temples of Chiang Mai, or the beautiful beaches of Phuket. But there’s a hidden gem that’s waiting to be discovered – Pig Island, or as locals call it, Koh Madsum.

Located just off the coast of Koh Samui, this small island offers a unique experience that’s unlike any other in Thailand. Here’s a closer look at what makes Pig Island a must-visit destination.

The Famous Swimming Pigs

One of the main attractions of Pig Island is, of course, the pigs. These aren’t your ordinary farm pigs, though. They’re swimming pigs! Yes, you read that right. These adorable creatures love to take a dip in the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island. It’s a sight that’s both amusing and endearing, and one that you won’t want to miss.

Stunning Beaches and Clear Waters

Aside from the pigs, Pig Island is also known for its beautiful beaches. The sand is soft and white, and the waters are clear and blue. It’s the perfect place to relax, soak up the sun, and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Plus, the island is relatively uncrowded, so you can have a peaceful beach day without the usual tourist crowds.

Snorkeling and Water Sports

If you’re a fan of water sports, Pig Island won’t disappoint. The clear waters are perfect for snorkeling, and you’ll find a variety of colorful fish and other marine life. Kayaking and paddleboarding are also popular activities on the island.

Delicious Local Cuisine

No trip to Thailand would be complete without sampling the local cuisine, and Pig Island is no exception. There are several beachfront restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood, traditional Thai dishes, and refreshing tropical drinks.

Responsible Tourism

While Pig Island is a fun and unique destination, it’s important to remember that it’s also a home to these wonderful creatures. Visitors are encouraged to respect the pigs and their environment, and to practice responsible tourism. This includes not feeding the pigs anything harmful, not chasing or harassing them, and keeping the beaches clean.

  • E6292FMjackb 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Didn’t even get to go thanks to company cancelling our booking Cancelled our booking weeks in advance less than 48 hours before with no prior warning or explanation given. We had booked the private greater Bangkok explorer tour and were extremely excited only to get a sudden email today saying it had been cancelled with no reason given. Shameful business behaviour. Leaves us with no time to rebook with someone else or investigate other ways we can spend the day. Read more Written January 12, 2023
  • thedreramwinner5115 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Local life experience and the GIGANTIC Dragon Tower! Me and my colleague went on the weekend. We watch them make coconut sugar that is my first time to see it. The train market is amazing, there are a lot of local food. The highlight is the dragon tower we went up 17 floor and the view up there is very worth to see! note: please wear comfortable shoes I enjoyed the tour and the guide was very helpful and has knowledge about the places. • Matthew G 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Friendly and Fun! Aem, our tour guide, was super friendly and a pleasure to hang out with. She provided an overview of the history of Koh Madsum from when the pigs first arrived to its current popularity as a tourist destination. She even knew all the pigs by name and knew how to best pet the pigs. Hint, they love their belly rubs! From her words and actions it was obvious she cared for the pigs and wanted her guests to understand how to care for and enjoy them too. We next visited a secluded beach on Koh Madsum where you can relax in the crystal clear waters away from other tourists. The last stop was for snorkeling. It was disappointing to see other tour guides letting their guests stand on the coral reefs. Aem reminded us this is not a good practice and made sure we knew not to do that. I was proud that she scolded the other tour guide a bit for letting their guest do this. This tour operator really tries to minimize the negative environmental impacts caused by tourism and positively support the local community. Highly recommend you use them. • missamy1981 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great tour! Just back from a wonderful day with GoJo Tours in and around Bangkok! Started at the coconut farm (my least favourite part of the day, but still enjoyable and informative nonetheless!), then onto the train market and ended up at Wat Samphran (dragon temple). Enjoyed some delicious food and coffee at the train market and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 baht train ride! The dragon temple was spectacular and had lovely grounds to enjoy too. Our guide, Anne, couldn’t have done a better job and as it was just the 3 of us and her, we pretty much had a personalised tour. Our taxi driver was also lovely and was happy to stop whenever we wanted during the journey. Highly recommended tour! Read more Written September 13, 2020
  • Wanderer34045314448 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Hidden Gems Having just moved to the city, this was a super choice to discover Bangkok and some of its hidden places. Gojo were really helpful from the first inquiry and arranged a private tour for our group of 8. Our guide Tee knew lots of interesting facts and places and clearly loved to show us all around with warmth. The trip in all was 5 hours but we spent quite a bit of time escaping the heat in local cafes and art galleries, discovering new foods and places. I'd highly recommend to anyone interested in exploring the less visited spots of the city. Read more Written September 1, 2020

  • CKF 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fantastic Day! We live in Bangkok and have been wanting to see the Dragon Temple (Wat Samphran) and the Maeklong Railway Market for a long time. I came upon this tour offered by Gojo Tours, and it was perfect for us. We and another couple signed up for a Sunday, since right now (Aug 2020) you can climb to the top of the Dragon Temple only on weekends. Our guide, Anne, was simply wonderful. She met us at the assigned point and time, greeting us with a friendly smile and with lots of enthusiasm. Her English is very good, and she was happy to answer all questions and provide needed information along the way. We had a comfortable van for the day. Our first stop was a coconut farm, the name of which I didn't catch. We saw part of the sugar-making process and even climbed a coconut tree. Then it was onto the Maeklong Railway Market. I really appreciated Anne's help with asking questions about prices and products when we wanted to purchase. That really makes the experience more comfortable and more enjoyable for someone who does not speak the local language. She took us to a place selling the most delicious rolled noodles--for 14 baht per bowl! I could have eaten them all day. As train arrival time approached, we made our way to the tracks and found a good spot. It was fun to watch the vendors move their wares and their awnings (umbrellas) away from the track when the horn sounded. The train came through, within two feet of each side! To continue the experience, we then got to ride the train back out, actually through the market! Anne was willing to take any and all photos for us, and she got some really great ones, which she shared with us via Whatsapp. Our last stop was the Dragon Temple, a very unique pink cylindrical temple with a dragon sculpture wrapped around it. Lots of great photo opportunities. Everything about the trip was perfect. Anne was kind, helpful, enthusiastic, and lots of fun. We highly recommend Anne, Gojo Tours, and this tour in particular. Our tour guide, Anne was super sweet and we really enjoyed learning about the history of Bangkok. Discovering and observing the street art was really interesting. Another great part was finding tiny cafes mixed into these streets and observing how people spend their day. Highly recommend this tour :) Thank you Anne! Read more Written August 1, 2020

Our guide, Tee and our driver were excellent hosts and made the day even more enjoyable with their knowledge of the sights we visited. They were very good at adapting the itinerary after we got stuck in traffic. This included finding the quaintest train station to enable us to board the train to go through the market! The Train Market was incredible and the view from the top of the Dragon Temple was spectacular! This trip is a must for anyone in Bangkok! Read more Written July 26, 2020
