My recent tour of Petco Park was absolutely fantastic, thanks in large part to our tour guide, Rudy. Rudy's enthusiasm and knowledge made the tour incredibly engaging. As a Dodgers fan, Rudy's personal stories and insights helped me connect with the history and culture of the San Diego Padres. His passion for the game and the ballpark was inspiring, and he made sure everyone in our group had a great time. If you're a baseball fan, regardless of your team, I highly recommend this tour, especially with Rudy as your guide!

We had an amazing experience on the Petco Park tour, largely due to our incredible guide, Rudy. His enthusiasm for the Padres and baseball in general made the tour really enjoyable. Even as a Dodgers fan, I found myself getting excited about the Padres' history and future. Rudy's personal anecdotes and deep knowledge made the whole experience memorable. He had a way of making everyone feel included and engaged. I highly recommend this tour for any baseball fan--Rudy's the best!

Best tour ever!! Whether you love baseball or not, this is a must-do! They take you all around the stadium including cool places you normally never get to see like the visitor's clubhouse and dugout, press box, back tunnels, and some VIP entrance and lounge areas. It lasts about an hour and a half and then you get a discount at the team store and a local restaurant which is a cool bonus. The tour guides really know their stuff and keep you entertained the entire time. It's definitely great for Padres and baseball fans, but everyone will love the views, the places they take you, and exploring the stadium. If you're lucky you might run into a player or maybe catch some batting practice.
A boy thing to visit & tour ball parks or stadiums .. but mom loves it, too. Since I'm pretty tomboyish, God blessed me with all boys, to continue my tomboyish life to the fullest, so visiting ball parks or football stadiums is an always go2 for all of us. My hub decided to buy us tour tickets to the "so called"voted #1 ball park in the nation". (Bias Dodger fan here ha) Tickets were around $30.00 per person, there is also a parking structure right across the stadium team store. Parking was about $1.00 per hour, not bad in comparison to LA parking Knowing that the Padres beat the Dodgers, and knowing that we are LA fans ... we had to bring our LA gear to the tour, but it was fun seeing some reactions, but all respectful The tour took about an hour and a half, do bring your water, walking shoes, and cap You'll enjoy it and indeed, it is a beautiful stadium.

Pretty goshdarn good tour! The things you learn, the inner workings of the stadium, the secrets it hides from the public, the opulence of the club and lounges inside, the things you just never would expect! Now I see why Petco Park is rated No. 1 among America's MLB ballparks. A real treat that includes the history of the greatest Padres players, sitting in the press box and then the visitor dugout, visits to the suites funded by those wealthy enough to afford such luxuries -- and all of it brought to you by Brad, a tour-guide who really knows his stuff, a tour guide who has personality and all the little insider secrets to share. A worthwhile tour of an incredible venue -- we are still in awe of the architect who could manage to envision such a wondrous structure!
Melanie did a really wonderful job. showed us some cool behind the scenes aspects of the park and some interesting history. Well worth the price.
Wife, son, and I took the tour the day after Thanksgiving. Over an hour long tour that showed most every major aspect of this beautiful venue (visitor locker room, dugout, suites, press box, etc.) As a baseball coach I woul have liked to also see the batting cages under the stadium and their weightroom. Still a very worthwhile tour that lasted over an hour. Our guide Juan did a great job.
This tour was very fun and interesting. It is pretty established now that Petco Park is the best baseball stadium in the USA, getting an inside/out tour of it was fun, and the factoids they tell you about the stadium are very interesting. What I appreciated the most was the history of not just the stadium, but the team and the sport in San Diego. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. We got to see historical, behind-the-scenes of the ballpark while learning about the history of Petco Park and the San Diego Padres. The stops included: Field Warning Track Cutwater Coronado Club Padres Hall of Fame Press Box Private Luxury Suite Breitbard Hall of Fame Awesome how the stadium incorporated the 2 historical buildings, local eateries/breweries, and different price points for all fans to enjoy the game. This was one of our favorite stops in San Diego. If you are a baseball fan you would love this tour. The tour guide was fun and very informative.
" Great Educational & Interesting Tour " My friend and I went on a Petco Park for a 1 1/2 hour tour. We went all over the ballpark, and learned so much from Patty our tour guide. Patty was so energetic as she took us all over Petco Park, and would tell us stories about the history of the Padres, and the other events at the Park. We went up to the broadcasters booth, and all the way under the stadium where the players go. We also visited the Western Metal Building where we could get some great views of the field. Great tour and well worth the time and $$$.

With a nod to nostalgia and a focus on fun, the 2024 Fair will give our yesteryears another moment in the San Diego sun. Bop your way around the happy days of the ‘50s. Twist, shout, and shake it into the bewitching ‘60s. Move and groove through the disco nights of the ‘70s. Moonwalk it back to the gnarly age of big hair, shoulder pads, and parachute pants of the ‘80s. And enjoy the era of flannel and floppy drives of the ‘90s.
Del Mar Racing Season
San Diego horse racing takes place where the "turf meets the surf" at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Racetrack racing season, mid-July - early-September. Be part of the magic and nostalgia of this long-time horse race tradition dating back to 1937 when Bing Crosby greeted the first guests, and Seabiscuit won by a nose in the infamous race in 1938. This season features the nation's top racehorses, trainers and jockeys, and plenty of fun in the sun.

Game and Pre-game tour are both wonderful!
If you are in the SD area, I would highly recommend taking in a Padres game. The stadium is beautiful. The landscaping is gorgeous. If you have an hour or two, take in the pre-game tour that the stadium offers. Our tour guide was very informative, pointing out landmarks and even showing us the south-westernmost tip of the US (hope I wrote that right!) from the top level of the stadium. The game was great too. Tickets are reasonably priced and it was a fun time!
We have made a habit out of visiting a few new baseball stadiums every season, and this one was unique and enjoyable even though the team was struggling. We arrived early to see what the stadium had to offer, and everyone was very helpful and friendly. I knew about the Tony Gwynn statue, and an usher made sure I saw the Naval display on my way out to the right field concorse where the statue is displayed. We liked the lawn seating that was available, and thought the sand with the Padres logo was a nice touch. And even though our seats were upstairs, we were allowed to explore the main/field level, unlike some other stadiums(Dodgers/White Sox). The gentleman working at the beer stand also helped me select a local beer that would best fit my taste, and I was not disappointed.
First tour of a MLB baseball park. My son (age 8), cousin & I left the family for the morning and decided to catch the tour. $9 for adults and $5 under 12. For a 90 minute tour it was overall well worth it. Began the day in Park in the Park. My son was able to pitch and run the bases in the Park. There is open access in the outfield where everyday people and play in the park. This area is closed off on game days and is basically the SRO seats with a large screen showing the game. (Note: When attending a game in September I went to purchased a ticket to the game and the box office person sold me a $5 ticket to this area - Since the attendence is so low made my way down the 1st base line and watched the game). Tours begin on the opposite side at the front of the Park facing the Hilton. Our tour guide was great. First up to the Toyota Terrace Level and shown around the Press Box area. Next we walked around as saw the sights of San Deigo (Coronado Bridge, Conv. Center) and worked our way to a Luxury Suite. Following was a walk to The Western Metal Supply Building and walk to the field level seats. Walked our way down ot the Padres dugout along the warning track and over to the visitors dugout. There was a visit to the visitor locker room followed by a trip to the Premier Club. Got to see a hitter taking indoor batting practice. The tour then went to the visitor bullpen and out the back gate. No time to the Padres Bullpen (not much out there). Overall my son enjoyed the morning and being able to check out the Padres dugout and walk around the warning track. My cousin and I joked around we should have pretended to be interested in season ticket as there were numerous people being taken around the same areas as us. Just a thought
I highly recommend a $9.00 tour of the park. Discover "writer's row" in the press box, learn about the historic Western Metal Supply Co. Building and explore the Padres dugout and much more on a approx 2 hour tour. Of course if you have tickets to a game this a fabouls park to watch a game in!!
We recently got back from our annual trip to Petco Park to see the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Padres. Again, we enjoyed our baseball experience. Our son is getting older, so he didn't go to the children's mini-field to go play ball as he always had in the past. When he was younger, we would have to take turns taking him out there to play, as this was something he couldn't get enough of. This is great for the kids! Also the lawn area is a great way to see the game, as well as the bleachers in the outfield that have a sandy beach for the children to play in during the game, while their parents cheer for their favorite team. All for $5. We also thought the food prices were comparable to other stadiums, including minor league stadiums. During our current visit, we took advantage of the 5 for 5 deal that is now being offered.: $5.00 for a hotdog, soda, popcorn, peanuts and a cookie... not bad at all. The hot dog was pretty good. For $10.00 you get the same thing, but instead of a soda, the adults can get a beer. We also did Friday Friarworks... fireworks after the game. Great firework show! Our son loved it! This is a great ball park to take in a game, and is very family friendly! This is what keeps us coming back year after year.
I have been to several big league parks around the country (also several football stadiums). By far this park has the worst sight lines. We purchased bleacher seats with an obstructed view - OBSTRUCTED?! You couldn't even see what was happening on the field. We did move to right field seats which were better but still the sight lines were not great. The fans are not baseball fans. Most were not even paying attention to the game (and it was a good game - plenty of offense and some good defensive plays). We sat in three different locations in the park - in each the people around us were swearing, using very rough language, and they were not even talking about the game. The aesthetics of the stadium is nice and it is located in a neat area but if you really want to see a ballgame go somewhere else.
Padres pregame: David Peralta getting in the swing of things; Manny Machado sits again
David Peralta serving as Padres’ DH in fifth straight game; he reached five times against the Diamondbacks on Saturday
- Show more sharing options
- Copy Link URL Copied!
David Peralta pumped his fist, half in jest, as he surveyed the three right-handed starting pitchers that the Diamondbacks had lined up to start a four-game series at Petco Park.
“I have a chance to play,” he said with a laugh.
Left-hander Blake Walston’s subsequent move to the injured list means Arizona is at least starting a fourth game with a right-hander as Scott McGough will serve as an opener on Sunday (1:10 p.m. first pitch). The Diamondbacks also recalled left-hander Tommy Henry from Triple-A Reno to presumably handle the bulk innings, but Peralta is also riding a wave of momentum after going 3-for-3 with two doubles and reaching base five times in Saturday’s romp.
With Manny Machado still sidelined with a mild hip flexor strain, Peralta will serve as the DH in a fifth straight game. The job figures to go back to Machado temporarily when he’s ready to ease back into action, especially with Oakland throwing two left-handers in the upcoming series.
Mazur takes the mound! pic.twitter.com/FLzMJCADbR — San Diego Padres (@Padres) June 9, 2024
Peralta understands that is his role at this point in his career.
“I have to be ready for anything,” he said. “That’s how it is. When we have a bunch of lefties, I have to be ready to come off the bench. Now it’s my time to help the team do something.”
Peralta is hitting .241/.333/.310 in 13 games (nine starts) since joining the Padres. After a three-hit effort in his second game with the Padres, he was 0-for-14 with a walk before going 1-for-2 on Friday in his first game against his old Diamondbacks teammates.
Peralta is 4-for-9 with two walks, two doubles, a hit-by-pitch and three runs scored in this series.
He will bat sixth, wedged between fill-in third baseman Donovan Solano and center fielder Jackson Merrill .
After giving way to Kyle Higashioka for Saturday’s Matt Waldron start, Luis Campusano is back in the lineup in the nine-hole to catch right-hander Adam Mazur’s second career start.
The 23-year-old allowed one run on two hits and four walks in six innings in his MLB debut on Tuesday in Anaheim. He struck out two. Mazur is ranked No. 88 in Baseball America’s top-100 prospects list.
McGough, 34, has allowed 12 runs in 17 innings out of Arizona’s bullpen, striking out 11 against 10 walks and allowing opposing hitters a .290/.373/.532 batting line.
He has topped out at two innings and 25 pitches this season, meaning Henry could find his way into the game soon. To make room for Henry, former Padres left-hander Logan Allen — one of three relievers used by Arizona on Saturday — was designated for assignment. Allen allowed six runs in inning, while McGough struck out a batter in a scoreless seventh.
Henry is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in six starts in the majors, striking out 24 against 11 walks. Hitters have a .302/.369/.517 batting line against Henry, who allowed five runs in 4⅓ innings in his only appearance against the Padres, back in 2022, and has allowed home runs to two current Padres:
Here is how Arizona will line up for the finale:
