Kia Cee'd: Trip computer / Driving information mode

This mode indicates 3 kinds of driving Information.

All stored driving information (except odometer, distance to empty and instant fuel economy) resets if the battery is disconnected.

1. Distance to empty (km or mi.)

This mode indicates the estimated distance the vehicle can be driven with the remaining fuel. When the remaining distance is below 50 km (30 miles), “---” will be displayed.

The meter’s working range is from 50 to 999 km (30 to 999 miles).

2. Average fuel economy (L/100 km or MPG)

This mode calculates the average fuel consumption from the total fuel used and the distance since the last average fuel economy reset. The total fuel used is calculated from the fuel consumption input. For an accurate calculation, drive more than 50 m (0.03 miles).

To clear the average fuel economy to zero (--.-), do as follow;

• When the “AVG Fuel Economy” of “User Setting” is in the “Auto Reset”

If the vehicle speed exceeds 1 km/h after refueling more than 6 l, the average fuel consumption will be cleared to zero (---).

• When the “AVG Fuel Economy” of “User Setting” is in the “Manual Reset”

3. Instant fuel economy (L/100 km or MPG)

This mode calculates the instant fuel consumption during the last few seconds.

• If the vehicle is not on level ground or the battery power has been interrupted, the “Distance to empty” function may not operate correctly. The trip computer may not register additional fuel if less than 6 liters (1.6 gallons) of fuel are added to the vehicle.
• The fuel economy and distance to empty may vary significantly based on driving conditions, driving habits, and condition of the vehicle.
• The distance to empty is an estimate of the available driving distance. This value may differ from the actual driving distance.

Trip Computer as standard?

Hi Guys, Whilst I wait to visit Mr Bank (and hope I can kiss up enough to get a nice big loan for a shiny new (used) Cee'd) I am looking at some that are out and about, and have seen a few I like, although in the description, I cant see any that state "Trip Computer" - Do the Cee'd's come with a Trip Computer as standard?  

I believe they all do yes. Hope you find a suitable one and Mr Bankers nice.

Well dub, I would normally agree with you and probably just run to Kia now... The problem is my focus currently has about £4800 remaining on the finance, it wont sell back for that amount and I need to get the money together when I sell it, within a month (unfortunately I am no pro footballer, nor on par with there wage!) so the loan would be there to buy the car outright and pay Ford off all in one go (hopefully with a little left over!). Your right though its always worth exploring, so if mr Banker says no, then its probably going to be the next step!  

Please speak to somebody who knows what they're talking about (i.e. not me) but it sounds like your quote is 6.2% flat rate. I believe this means you pay 6.2% per year of THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT in interest. i.e. over 1 year you pay 6.2% of £10k, or £620. Over 4 years you pay 4 times that: £2480. This is where your £12600 most likely comes from, what with a £150 final settlement fee etc just to fleece you one last time before freeing you from your debt. If it were APR I think you'd pay something like (VERY rough figures intended to demonstrate the principle by breaking the term into 4 years - that's still too simplistic): Year1: £10,000 balance means you pay £2,500 in repayments plus £620 ish (a bit less in practice) in interest. Year2: £7,500 in balance means you pay £2,500 in repayments plus £465 in interest, based on the amoutn YOU PRESENTLY OWE, and NOT the original amount. Year3 and Year4 follow suit with you payinf £2500 off the car plus a diminishing interest amount. Actually, you don't change the repayment amount as it gets "averaged" over the 4 years, but the bottom line is you pay much less interest overall, despite the same "6.2%" headline figure. Remember, it's finer resolution that year by year - I'm trying to explain how I think it works, not giving figures to within a penny! Thus 6.2% flat rate is most definitely not the same as 6.2% APR. 6.2% flat rate over 4 years is (6.2 * 4) = 24.8% charge for credit. 6.2% APR over 4 years is about 12% charge for credit. That's my opinion - I'm not an expert - please feel free to correct me. However, it DOES tie up pretty accurately with your quoted figures!  

Thanks Ed, that makes sense. I guess they gloss over the fact it's not APR. It's all kinda greek to me, and to be honest I feel we got a good deal on the Pro_Ceed so am happy enough anyway. Just thought it worth pointing out the rate's not actually better than a bank loan.

trip computer/cruise control not working

Hello everyone I'm new on this forum and I need some advice/help if anyone can give me. I've got a Kia ceed 2012 car Is a first generation upgraded model I think because has sat nav and camera rear parking included. I do have unfortunately few issues with the car. 1. Trip computer doesn't work.Bassically is on showing trip A but I'm not able to change anything on it . I'm pressing trip button in stering weel but nothing change. 2 Cruise control doesn't work at all. 3 Just yesterday I did realised that air con starting blow hot air on driver side and cold air on passenger side when I do set temperature for example below 20. For me passenger side blow air at the right temperature set is the driver side where is problem. 4. Sat nav gps showing wrong location and doesn't move from that point even if I'm driving. I'm living in Northamptonshire and GPS is in Scotland (following MOT history first owner was somewhere there). I did bought car recently with 109000 miles and clutch has been replaced recently by de garage/dealer from where I bought the car. I did book the car back to this garage next Saturday and hope they will sort something put. Can anyone give me any advice? Thanks  

Hmm.. is cruise control on the steering wheel too? I've the 2010 and my trip button stopped working and then gradually all steering wheel controls stopped working including the horn and I needed a new "clock spring" - hope that helps some, the rest I am unsure on.

Trip information (trip computer)

The trip computer is a microcomputer-controlled driver information system that displays information related to driving.

Some driving information stored in the trip computer resets if the battery is disconnected.

Fuel economy

The average fuel economy is calculated by the total driving distance and fuel consumption since the last average fuel economy reset.

Fuel economy range: 0 ~ 99.9 km/L, L/100 km or mpg

The average fuel economy can be reset both manually and automatically.

To clear the average fuel economy manually, press the OK button on the steering wheel for more than 1 second when the average fuel economy is displayed.

To make the average fuel economy be reset automatically whenever refuelling, select the "Energy Consumption reset" mode in User Setting menu of the LCD Windows (Refer to More Details ).

OFF - You may set to default manually by using the trip switch reset button.

After ignition - The vehicle will automatically set to default once 4 hours pass after the Ignition is in OFF.

After refuelling - After refuelling more than 6 litres and driving over 1 km/h, the vehicle will reset to default automatically.

The average fuel economy is not displayed for more accurate calculation if the vehicle does not drive more than 10 seconds or 50 metres (0.03 miles) since the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is turned to ON.

This mode displays the instant fuel economy during the last few seconds when the vehicle speed is more than 10 km/h (6.2 mph).

Fuel economy range:

0.0 ~ 30 km/L, L/100 km or 0.0 ~ 50.0 mpg

Accumulated driving information mode

This display shows the accumulated trip distance (1), the average fuel efficiency (2), and the total driving time (3).

Accumulated information is calculated after the vehicle has run for more than 300 metres.

If you press "OK" button for more than 1 second after the Cumulative Information is displayed, the information will be reset.

If the engine is running, even when the vehicle is not in motion, the information will be accumulated.

Drive info display

This display shows the trip distance (1), the average fuel efficiency (2), and the total driving time (3) information once per one ignition cycle.

Fuel efficiency is calculated after the vehicle has run for more than 300 metres.

The Driving Information will be reset 4 hours after ignition has been turned off. So, when the vehicle ignition is turned on within 4 hours, the information will not be reset.

If you press "OK" button for more than 1 second after the Driving Information is displayed, the information will be reset.

Kia Cee'd: Trip computer / User Settings

In this mode there are 3 kinds of the submenu.

Do not adjust the User Setting while driving. You may lose your steering control and cause severe personal injury or accidents.

1. Stop the vehicle with the ignition switch in the ON position or engine running.

2. Press the ▲ or ▼ button until the User setting mode is displayed.

4.You can change the item by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button and select an item by pressing the button.

• Auto Door Lock

Off - The auto door lock operation will be canceled.

Speed - All doors will be automatically locked when the vehicle speed exceeds 15km/h (9.3mph).

Shift Lever - All doors will be automatically locked if the shift lever is shifted from the P(Park) position to the R(Reverse), N(Neutral) or D(Drive) position. (for automatic transaxle shift lever)

• Auto Door Unlock

Off - The auto door unlock operation will be canceled.

Key Out - All doors will be automatically unlocked when the ignition key is removed from ignition switch (or smart key is in the OFF position).

Shift Lever - All doors will be automatically unlocked if the shift lever is shifted to the P(Park) position. (for automatic transaxle shift lever)

• Headlamp delay (if equipped)

If the headlamp delay function is checked : The Headlamp delay and Headlamp Welcome function will be activated.
