Force Motors has revealed a new Trax Cruiser designed specifically for jungle safari expeditions. We’ve been told that the first set of these specially designed vehicles are going to be put to work at the Tadoba Tiger Reserve soon. This version of the Trax Cruiser has multiple unique design and utility-related mods that will aid in the forest-related operations it’ll take on.

Force Trax jungle safari SUV: what’s different

With the specially designed Trax Cruiser, Force Motors is aiming to provide a more comfortable experience for tourists on jungle safaris. It comes with a six-seat cabin and a slightly larger glass house. There are fixed glass windows on all sides to protect passengers, and the cabin gets front and roof-mounted rear AC vents. Additionally, it also comes with dual sunroofs, a first for any Force Trax vehicle. There are individual leatherette bucket seats.

A large-ish roof rack has been provided along with specially designed “guards” across the sides of the vehicle. Up front, the Force Trax jungle safari gets a bull bar that stretches across the nose, and another one bordering the front windshield. Creature comforts include mobile charging points.

Force Trax jungle safari SUV: under the skin  

There is no change to the platform or dimensions, which means that under the skin, the Force Trax jungle safari is the same as any standard Force Trax Cruiser or Citiline . At 5.1 metres long, the Force Trax jungle safari vehicle has an over 3-metre long wheelbase, similar to the standard version.

The specially designed Force Trax jungle safari vehicle comes with the Mercedes-Benz-derived 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces 91hp and 250Nm of torque, and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It also comes with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD).

Sources tell us that the Force Trax jungle safari vehicle is made-to-order only, and is priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Initially, a few units are expected to join the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve wildlife sanctuary in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra.

This is the type you will likely use if you decide to take a luxury fly-in safari.   They are almost always found within the parks and reserves and will only pick you up from the airstrip when you flight arrives.

Seating Arrangement On the Open Safari Jeep

As the name suggests, they are open on both sides, making them ideal for game viewing, photography,  bird-watching while offering an intimate and real connection with the African wilderness.

It is important to note that since these vehicles are mostly stationed in the safari camps and lodge – and so there are fewer them stationed there.  That means one will almost always have to content with sharing  with other guests from the camp or lodge where they are staying. If you prefer to have exclusive use of an open vehicle this needs to be arranged, at extra cost, in advance. Some open safari jeeps  are designed with tiered seating, so that nobody’s view is blocked by the person in front of them.

Protection from the Weather Elements

Due to their being open, there is obviously limited protection from the the elements, it is therefore  vital that you protect yourself against the sun. Hats, scarves and windbreakers are all excellent shields from fierce and hot Ultra Violet rays.  Some of these vehicles do have canvas/plastic canopies that can be closed, if the weather becomes un co-operative. Thunderstorms in Africa can be wild, and come on within minutes!

Gir Jungle Safari (3 Hrs)

Gir Jungle Safari is the forest department organized open Jeep Safari ride of approximately 3 hours inside the dense forest of Gir National Park. One may get chance to see Asiatic Lion, leopards, and many other wild animals, birds & rich flora and fauna of Gir forest.

Gir Jungle Safari Package Rate & persons allowed in one vehicle:

• INR 4500/- to 4800/- for Indians (Per Jeep)
• INR 13,800 to 15,000/- for Foreigners (Per Jeep)

One Jeep can accommodate maximum 6 adults and 1 child. Age till 12 years considered as child and more than 12 years considered as adult for safari booking. If number of adults are less then more children can be added up to 7. Since the rates are per Jeep and not per person, rates will be same for 1 person and for 6 persons boarding the safari.

What is Included in this Package?

• Permit issued by Forest department to enter in to the Gir Jungle Trail
• Open Gypsy vehicle (old model), Driver & Guide (G2 Category) approved by Forest Department

What is Not Included?

• Camera fees, if any. (There is no charge for Mobile Phones)

• Gypsy vehicles are subject to availability. If Gypsy vehicles are not available, New Bolero Vehicle will be alloted compulsorily and guest has to pay INR 1500/- extra per jeep.

Reporting Place & Time: Boarding / Reporting point for safari is “Sinh Sadan, Sasan Gir”. Visitor Need to report at least 30 minutes before scheduled Safari time. There is ample parking facility for visitors to park their vehicles and board Jeep.

Safari Timings and Availability of Permits: There are 3 Safari timings as mentioned below & Forest department issue limited Permit for each time slots. 100% of Permits are available for advance booking, on the spot booking is not available.

Gir Jungle Trail remains closed from 16 th June to 15 th Oct every year. However, you can enjoy Devaliya Jeep Safari throughout the year.

It is mandatory to provide ID proof detail of all members while booking. ID proofs submitted while Safari Booking will be verified with the original ID proofs at safari boarding time. Boarding will not be possible if any discrepancy found and refund will not be processed in this case. No ID proofs are accepted other than mentioned in the Booking Form.

Once the safari is booked, any kind of modification is strictly NOT possible, like Change in the ID proof number, name of person including spelling mistake, addition or deletion of person, change in safari date or time slot, etc.

There are 13 routes for this jeep safari. Any of the routes will be allocated to each jeep randomly. Possibility of lion sighting is equal in each route and it is purely on your luck. One can get a chance to see lots of wildlife animals including lions & Leopards.

We will refund full amount within 2 working days in case of unavailability of requested jeep safari.

Forest depart reserves the right to cancel the permit or modify the timing in unavoidable circumstances. Decision of the forest department will be final in such case.

There are two types of vehicles permitted for Jungle Safari in Ranthambore National Park - the 4 wheel drive jeep (Open top roof Maruti Gypsy) and   Canter (open top roof bus). Both safari vehicles are open from all sides to explore wildlife in the forest of Ranthambore National Park, due to which they provide the best viewing wildlife experience in the forest.

A limited number of safari vehicles are allowed to enter Ranthambore National Park in each shift. A maximum of 140 vehicles are allowed to enter the park at a time by the Forest Department. A total of 88 jeeps and 52 canters are allotted in all the safari zones of Ranthambore National Park, which includes 58 jeeps for regular safari, 20 jeeps in tatkal quota, 5 jeeps in special category quota and 5 jeeps for full day / half day safari. Canters are allocated in all safari zones except zones 7 and 8.

All these vehicles are associated with the forest department and are owned by the local people. Only those vehicles that are registered with the forest department are allowed inside the park for a jungle safari. Vehicles that have not been registered with the forest department for a jungle safari tour are not allowed inside the park. All safari vehicles in Ranthambore National Park are registered with the Forest Department under vehicle model conditions. Private vehicles are not allowed inside Ranthambore National Park.

Jeeps and canters are booked in advance by visitors for a jungle safari tour at Ranthambore. Booking of Jungle Safari in Ranthambore can be booked 365 days before the date of Safari. Visitors are strongly advised to book their safari well in advance, especially jeep safari. Unlike other parks in India, a seat can also be booked for Jungle Safari in Ranthambore National Park. You are not obliged to book the entire vehicle for yourself but if you want a more personalized wildlife safari experience in Ranthambore National Park then there is also an option to book a full jeep by paying the required fee. It is mandatory to pay a fee of 6 people to book a private jeep. A limited number of vehicles are sent to the park for safari by the forest department, so to get a safari, it is advisable to book it in advance.

Ranthambore Safari by Jeep

A 6 seater open top Gypsy

Jeep Safari in Ranthambore is one of the most popular options to explore wildlife and admire the beautiful landscape of the park. The Jeep is a 4 wheel drive Maruti Suzuki Gypsy which is fully open from the top and can carry 6 passengers at a time to enjoy the Ranthambore Jungle Safari. You can enjoy the personalized and enriched experience of jeep safari in Ranthambore either in the morning or in the afternoon with naturalist.

Seats in jeeps are booked on a sharing basis with other visitors. If you want to book an exclusive jeep for yourself, then you have to pay the entire jeep and with this option you can experience a private jeep safari in Ranthambore National Park. If you value the location and privacy, we recommend opting for a private jeep safari in Ranthambore. To book a private jeep, you have to reserve all six seats, which mean that there will be no one else in your jeep besides you, your naturalist / guide and your driver.

Jeep is the most preferred safari vehicle for jungle safari in Ranthambore National Park. The jeep being a small safari vehicle provides a more intimate experience and takes you into the dense forest of the park which increases the chances of seeing wildlife and tiger. The Jeep is capable of easy access to the park's nooks and narrow paths. A shared jeep safari is an ideal option for visitors who want to reduce the cost of their safari trip and enjoy meeting new people. Jeep Safari is recommended for small group of six people or less.

In particular, a jeep safari is recommended for wildlife photographers, so that they can capture a clear view of big cats and other species of wild animals in their camera. A shared jeep safari at Ranthambore can be reserved online in advance for morning or afternoon shifts. Jeep Safari in Ranthambore is always subject to availability.

If you do not get seats in Jeep Safari, you can book seats in Canter Safari, Canter is also a good option for Ranthambore Jungle Safari. Both safari vehicles use the same route in all zones of the park, canters are not allowed in zone 7 and 8 only, so both vehicles have equal opportunities to see a tiger and other wildlife during a jungle safari.

Ranthambore Safari by Canter

A 20 seater open top Safari bus or truck

Canter Safari is a very enjoyable safari style for observing wildlife in Ranthambore National Park. The canter is a twenty seater open top safari bus or van. Canter Safari is also booked by the Park Authority. Up to 20 people can enjoy a jungle safari simultaneously from the canter. Most visitors and wildlife lovers prefer to go on a canter safari because the height of the canter is higher than a jeep which makes it easy to see wildlife amidst the distant forest and dense bushes. It provides a special wildlife experience to visit the park and enjoy the spectacular views of the national park. Canter Safari in Ranthambore can be enjoyed at two different times - one in the morning shift and the other in the afternoon shift.

Limited canters are allowed for jungle safari in Ranthambore National Park. The canter is recommended for a large group of tourists at Ranthambore National Park Safari. The Cantor is the ideal safari vehicle for large families or groups. Canter is a very good safari option for those who want to share the experience of safari together instead of traveling in different vehicles. For the family or group, the canter safari in Ranthambore ensures that every member gets the same experience, if a group of people take a safari with different vehicles, some of them may be lucky to see tigers and others are not.

In addition, the canter is the right option for those who want to see tigers and other wildlife in Ranthambore with an economically low cost safari vehicle. A major advantage of the canter over the jeep is that due to its large size, you are in a higher position and can probably look further into the forest than a jeep.

Park Opening Times

Ranthambore National Park has two safari slots each day, one starts in the morning, and the other in the afternoon. The safari time of the year varies depending on the sunrise and sunset. Ranthambore National Park is usually opened to tourists shortly after sunrise and is closed shortly before sunset. Both morning safari and afternoon safari last for about three and a half hours. Safari departure times vary in winter, summer and rainy seasons, so check the Ranthambore National Park website for the safari timetable. Zones 1 to 5 of Ranthambore National Park are closed to tourists during the monsoon (July to September) while other safari zones 6 to 10 are open for safari in the monsoon.

Safari Costs

Safari booking of Ranthambore National Park is done by the Rajasthan Forest Department. In Ranthambore, 20 seats in a canter and 6 seats in a jeep are booked for forest safari by the forest department. Canters are not booked for safari in zones 7 and 8 of Ranthambore. Safari Charges are different for foreigners and Indians in Ranthambore National Park, which includes many components including park entrance fees, vehicle fares and guide fees.

It is better to take a jeep than a canter for Ranthambore safari, it is much more comfortable, as well as fewer people, and the jeep can navigate better and move faster. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the park, but only for Ranthambore Fort and Ganesh Temple.

How to book jeep and canter safari?

Safari can be booked online in advance. To book wildlife tickets in Ranthambore, please provide details of all visitors, including name, age and gender. Please mention Safari Date, Safari Shift and Safari Vehicle i.e. Jeep / Canter. To book a wildlife ticket, it is mandatory to provide a copy of the photo identity card of all visitors going on safari. Any government photo identity card for Indian citizens and only passports for foreign nationals are accepted. A full amount is required for a confirm safari booking as we have to pay the entire amount to the forest department to reserve your safari. Once a safari is booked and confirmed it is non-refundable and non-transferable.

• Travel Tips

Ranthambore National Park is close to Delhi and is very popular due to the fact that it is easy to see tigers here. Safari vehicles are highly regulated in Ranthambore National Park, with the number of vehicles entering the park being restricted. Though Ranthambore National Park has 10 zones for jungle safari but some zones, especially zones 1 to 6 and 10 are considered better than other zones for sighting tigers. The zone can be selected only through online safari booking in advance. If your request is accepted by the forest department, the zone can be changed by paying a substantial fee. Online Safari Booking of Ranthambore is open for the whole year from your Safari date.

Attention is paid to seeing tigers in Ranthambore.  Safari drivers take you to areas of the park where tigers are more likely to be seen. But some disturbances in the park arise when several jeeps all gather at one place and people shout between vehicles. In such a situation, you are advised to maintain peace in the forest and follow the rules of the park. Your jungle safari experience depends on the driver and nature guide. Some guides speak English better than others, and are better trained.

During jungle safari, note that many paths inside the park are bumpy and dusty, so sit with tight hold during safari. Take care of things like your photo identity card, wallet, camera, room key and mobile etc. during safari. Do not carry plastic bags, plastic wrapper with you during jungle safari. Do not throw these things in the park. Plastic is banned in the national park. Keep a water bottle, sun hat, sunglasses, anti-mosquito cream etc. with you during the safari. In winter, it is very cold in the morning safari shift, so wear clothes according to your needs.

Sariska Safari Booking Details

All the procedures of the Sariska Safari ride for Jeeps and Canters are fully administered and managed by the Sariska Tiger Reserve forest officials. The tiger reserve area is divided into multiple safari zones or routes which can be entered from 3 different Sariska gate (Core Zone), Telha gate (Core Zone), Baraliwari gate (Buffer Zone), Bala Quila Gate (Buffer Zone).

Kindly note that choosing the safari driver or naturalist guide is not in our hands. All these are solely decided by the forest officials on a random basis managed by the automated computerized system to make sure the distribution of Sariska safari vehicles is equal in every zone. 

According to the current Sariska National Park Safari Booking policy, 15 jeeps of 6 seaters and 15 Canter of 20 seaters are allowed to enter the Sariska Tiger Reserve from Sariska Gate and 5 jeeps each from Telha & Baraliwari Gate in one shift. At Sariska, the safari tours are of 3.5 hours of duration and  are allowed in two shifts; morning shift and Evening shift. You have the choice to choose your safari shift time.

The Sariska tiger reserve online safari booking is done on a first-come, first-served basis and you must pay the full fee in advance for the Sariska Tiger Reserve safari booking. The vehicle is allotted on the day of the Sariska Forest safari and the fee for a confirmed seat in a Jeep or Canter is non-refundable and non-transferable.

There are 2 types of safari in Sariska, Jeep Safari & Canter Safari. Both the safaris are operational in 2 shifts Morning & Evening and the duration for safari is generally 3.5 hours. Jeep Safari – Jeep safari in Sariska is done via 4 by 4 maruti suzuki gypsy, which can accommodate max 6 visitors in a gypsy excluding driver and guide. If you want to capture and experience the wildlife closely, then it is a recommended option for you. 

Canter Safari – Canter safari is done in an open mini bus, which can accommodate max 20 visitors excluding driver & guide. If you are coming in a group, and you don’t want to spend on multiple gypsies then canter is the best option for you.

Chances to Tiger Sighting in Sariska:

The increase in the Tiger population every year has increased the chances of Tiger sightings in Sariska. If we take a rough percentage, 60 to 70 % of the visitors will see a tiger in Sariska.

Summers have higher chances of Tiger sightings in Sariska as compared to winters, as the temperature shoots up to 46 degrees and the big cat can be seen in and around water bodies.

Sariska Safari Booking & Boarding Procedure:

Sariska Safari Booking Procedure : Visitors can easily book a safari in Sariska by following the 3 easy steps given below.

Step 1 – Check Availability: Check the safari availability by filling form availability on this page. Step 2 – Fill in visitor details : As soon as the safari availability is confirmed, kindly fill the visitors details like, Name, age, Nationality, Id type, Id Number

Step 3 – Make Payment : Last & the final step is to make safari payment, as soon as the payment is done voucher would be generated and the safari boarding point location would be shared. Sariska Safari Boarding Procedure :

On the day of the safari visitors have to reach the boarding point 10 mins prior, and will find our representative who will assist them with the safari vehicle & guide.

Things to keep in mind for Sariska Safari Booking:

• You have to pay full fees for safari booking in advance.
• ID proof is a must for every visitor.
• No refund or cancellation is permitted on confirmed bookings.
• Booking is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged with anyone.
• You must carry the same ID card that you have submitted during the online booking.
• The difference between Sariska Gate and Telha Gate is 68.9 Km.
• Choosing a gate depends on your stay or which gate is near to your stay. If you are coming on a day trip then consider Sariska Gate. 
• The child age 5 and below are exempt from the safari charges.
• Your Safaris can be booked 365 days in advance.
• Passport details are mandatory for foreign tourists for making reservations.
• A Safari permit is issued on a first-come, first-serve basis (subject to availability).
• Park may be closed without any prior notice to visitors.
• In case of any revision of fees after the booking or incomplete occupancy visitors will be liable to pay the difference at the time of entry into the park.
• The visitors are required to report to the boarding place 10 min before the scheduled departure of the safari.
• There is a heavy rush on weekends and holidays so it is always advisable to book safari and hotels in advance.
• The morning safari usually starts half an hour after the sunrise and the Evening safari concludes half an hour before the sunset and the night safari an hour after sunset.
• The timings changes accordingly with the changing of seasons. Each safari is allowed for a maximum of three and a half hours.

Gagarin cup (khl) finals:  atlant moscow oblast vs. salavat yulaev ufa.

Much like the Elitserien Finals, we have a bit of an offense vs. defense match-up in this league Final.  While Ufa let their star top line of Alexander Radulov, Patrick Thoresen and Igor Grigorenko loose on the KHL's Western Conference, Mytischi played a more conservative style, relying on veterans such as former NHLers Jan Bulis, Oleg Petrov, and Jaroslav Obsut.  Just reaching the Finals is a testament to Atlant's disciplined style of play, as they had to knock off much more high profile teams from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg to do so.  But while they did finish 8th in the league in points, they haven't seen the likes of Ufa, who finished 2nd. 

This series will be a challenge for the underdog, because unlike some of the other KHL teams, Ufa's top players are generally younger and in their prime.  Only Proshkin amongst regular blueliners is over 30, with the work being shared by Kirill Koltsov (28), Andrei Kuteikin (26), Miroslav Blatak (28), Maxim Kondratiev (28) and Dmitri Kalinin (30).  Oleg Tverdovsky hasn't played a lot in the playoffs to date.  Up front, while led by a fairly young top line (24-27), Ufa does have a lot of veterans in support roles:  Vyacheslav Kozlov , Viktor Kozlov , Vladimir Antipov, Sergei Zinovyev and Petr Schastlivy are all over 30.  In fact, the names of all their forwards are familiar to international and NHL fans:  Robert Nilsson , Alexander Svitov, Oleg Saprykin and Jakub Klepis round out the group, all former NHL players.

For Atlant, their veteran roster, with only one of their top six D under the age of 30 (and no top forwards under 30, either), this might be their one shot at a championship.  The team has never won either a Russian Superleague title or the Gagarin Cup, and for players like former NHLer Oleg Petrov, this is probably the last shot at the KHL's top prize.  The team got three extra days rest by winning their Conference Final in six games, and they probably needed to use it.  Atlant does have younger regulars on their roster, but they generally only play a few shifts per game, if that. 

The low event style of game for Atlant probably suits them well, but I don't know how they can manage to keep up against Ufa's speed, skill, and depth.  There is no advantage to be seen in goal, with Erik Ersberg and Konstantin Barulin posting almost identical numbers, and even in terms of recent playoff experience Ufa has them beat.  Luckily for Atlant, Ufa isn't that far away from the Moscow region, so travel shouldn't play a major role. 

I'm predicting that Ufa, winners of the last Superleague title back in 2008, will become the second team to win the Gagarin Cup, and will prevail in five games.  They have a seriously well built team that would honestly compete in the NHL.  They represent the potential of the league, while Atlant represents closer to the reality, as a team full of players who played themselves out of the NHL.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
