The Japanese House has announced a headlining tour in North America this fall/winter, her first time stateside in about four years. The 29-day run to support her upcoming album, In The End It Always Does , starts November 1st in Philadelphia and wraps up December 10th in Boston.

In The End It Always Does , her second LP, is due out June 30th via Dirty Hit. Her recent singles “Boyhood”, “Sad to Breathe”, and “Sunshine Baby” featuring The 1975’s Matty Healy, are out now and have garnered international attention. You can pre-order the album here and check out the video for Boyhood while you’re at it:

Before her North America tour, The Japanese House will also be on tour in the UK throughout October.

The Japanese House has announced a North American tour following the release of the dreamy new single "Lilo" in September.

The Japanese House  has announced a North American tour following the release of the dreamy new single “Lilo” in September.

The Japanese House (the moniker for indie solo artist Amber Bain), will begin her eleven-date tour in L.A. on Dec. 1. Tickets go on sale Friday (Oct. 12) at 10:00 a.m. local time here .

“Lilo” is The Japanese House’s first release since her 2017 EP Saw You In A Dream . In a press release, Bain said that she was inspired to write “Lilo” after learning to experience love again after heartbreak. “‘Lilo’ is a song about that relationship, how she was everything I needed at that time,” she said. “I feel very close to this song as I began writing it just before this relationship and came to an end. Now, it is a reminder to me that I am good at falling in love and I can survive falling out of it.”

I had a really really nice time seeing The Japanese House play last night in Cleveland. It was only the second night of their tour and they played amazing. The opener, Blaise Moore was engaging and offered a nice intro. Amber, who fronts The Japanese House was super gracious and humble throughout the show. She introduced nearly every song which was nice. I wasn't sure what the vibe would be but the band clearly loves playing their music and they were cool without seeming cold. I would gladly see them again and I look forward to their upcoming music!

The Japanese House was great! Good sound, cool stage and a lot of interaction with the crowd. Lots of fan favorites and so effortless. Saw them open for the 1975 in the summer at a larger venue, so it was great to see them close up in a smaller place.

The opening act (our girl) was good. Heavy guitars in songs were very cool. Sound was a little muddled, but the guitar jams! Wow!

Good merch table.

The Phoenix is a good venue. Smaller, which makes for great experience.

The Japanese House are a band I had discovered quite a while ago now and have liked ever since. They have so much talent and so I was very excited to see them live for the first time.

The experience was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was great, due to the band being so well known since The 1975 brought them onto the music scene.

Overall, it was a really good night and I even got a lovely picture with Amber, who was very chill!

Amazing vibes and pure talent. Great, great show. They kind of have an 80s thing going on for some of their songs. The groovy guitar sounds I think were the best part. Always great when go you go to a concert and discover more awesome songs you didn't know by the artist.

Fantastic concert! I wasn't sure how her music would translate to live performance, but it fully exceeded my expectations. She was a great performer, super engaging and fun, and her band was on point as well. Hope she comes back to Toronto soon!

Excellent. She gets better each time I see her. So much creativity and power. Good to see a more full band this time.

Great American Music Hall is a top notch, small, venue.

best show ever! venue was clean, staff were friendly, and the show had great sound too. i got there early, and was able to be in the front row. 10/10

this is J. Balvin,

welcome to my house. Let's go.

I ain't got nothing to hide.

The hallway is a whole Japanese vibe

with the natural light.

Really important.

[soft music]

This is my room.

Traveling around the world, you know,

when I went to Japan

I really connect with their energy

that I really love

and it's definitely what I'm doing in this house.

I call it a temple

because it's like a temple, definitely.

I have this place to rest, you know,

to feel calm and relax.

You can see the high ceilings.

Everything is wood around here.

These things on the floor

is because it was raining

but I used to have it outside

and drink some coffee and some tea

on the floor or to meditate.

But, there's one thing,

I don't sleep in this room.

I like to sleep around in different rooms.

Who said you have to sleep in the master room?

I don't like to get bored with my own places.

The closet.

[hip hop music]

It's one of my favorite places.

I like to shop a lot, definitely.

I came out with a deal with sinq dolementos

which are a team of super smart

and talented designers.

It's a cool closet, walk in closet.

You know you can see the whole vibe.

I forgot definitely, man.

And I can't tell you, my mom will, I'll be grounded.

Man, I love everything.

Like, everything, everything.

I love accessories and the hats,

glasses, sneakers, everything.

I love everything, I can't lie.

Alright, this is my master bathroom.

You can check the vibe.

Now everything's real simple, and I like to shower.

And the less the better, at least for me.

It has to be nature all around.

It's kind of like a rainy day,

but you see this green everywhere.

It's a Wabysaby house.

I'm involved of one-hundred, two-thousand percent involved,

In my places.

I'm not the type of client that is just like

I got the money and do this not every thing joy

because this is the place where basically

I'm living now, now that parenting started for

like 3 months now so I'm really happy that

I really create the place that I wanted to do

that is not a place to show off,

it's a place for my soul to rest.

I'm not here trying to flex on no one

I'm on another vibe this is just like to me

and me soul and my people to come and just be relaxed.

Okay, let's go and see another room.

As you can see the rooms here, this is slide door,

with a natural light really important

this are the doors they're like invisible doors

In our guest room.

So here is one of the room that I-

I slept here yesterday, last night.

Calming, relax.

This tree in this house

and floor with the people that work here

and you see this huge garden here too.

This not a lot of things this is just like wood and

basically tomateros.

This is our bathroom.

You know the idea is like feel that you like

in the hotel you have all the amenities you need.

If you walk here, this is the other guest room.

There's another bathroom,

another closet, but everything is really one level,

but definitely I love it.

the next phase of the house it has like three or four

yeah three floors

Japaneses vibes hundred percent.

My dog Enzo.

We wanted to put a statue here,

some thing happened with the sculpture,

and we were like,

lets bring the nature here and it's look so dope,

because you see the tree here

but if you see over there this another tree.

Positive energy.

The whole place is basically a piece of art so,

we done put art inside.

[Funky music]

This living room, I spend mostly all the time

in this house it's just like being here

being a lot of cool books,

kind of like a library design, architecture, of fashion,

we have a lot of those around here.

Oh and here you can find

for the sake

for friends and family man, I definitely don't drink.

And uh, there is no TV.

Why do a TV, you need when you have this view.

I basically be sitting down here and

just where I spend all the time when I'm here.

I draw here I have color books here,

and I have the whole view.

I don't have nothing,

nothing of my professional life in this house.

There's nothing that says J Balvin around here.

There's no a-

there's not a single city, there's not...

Everything I send it to my mom's.

You know here is jose.

There's nothing.

It's the kitchen right here.

Everything is like wood around here,

of course wood can match with everything.

As you can see the fridge.

It's here, you know,

just like to...

I just drink water honestly,

but these were my whole family came here and my friends.

They were drinking a beautiful cocktail as you can see.

I don't drink no alcohol so,

but it's for my family you know?

We have this whole Japanese,

everything for the sake.

You know like...

We brought everything from Japan and just like,

amazing to have all these.

We can come here of course.

There's more natural light.

We've got extra food for everyone.

We never know, I like to have people around

so I like to always have more.

We have some helmets here, super bikes and dirt bikes.

Um, here we have some Pilates.

I don't, my girlfriend does.

I'm trying to be nice, but I have to try it.

So it was raining, but we can go here.

[Upbeat music]

The pool, it's always hot.

A really beautiful vibe.

We have this place where we can, you know, walk and relax,

Here with the bonsai's and everything.

You can see a one-hundred year old bonsai over there.

One-hundred years, we've brought it from Japan.

To me it's like the most beautiful piece of art

that we have here.

And actually this one too,

this one have like fifty years old.

I mean when I was a kid, I was living,

I mean it wasn't in a house but it was in neighborhoods so.

We didn't have open places like this you know but,

it is definitely what I love,

being in contact with the nature.

I mean I love the city, just I mean I live in New York

when I'm not here, but-

but this definitely this is a badass for me, you know?

Right now we are in Jon Grande.

It's outside the city,

It's like in the mo chines and um...

As you can see everything is just,

it's- we surrounded by forests.

You know this is a whole forest.

There's no one near to me.

Just nature.

Like I want the nature to be the art and the place itself.

I love all the hopsum, some what but, not here.

I mean look around.

Oh, you can see the other shower here.

Beautiful vibes.

We have the barbecue here too. Barbecue.

You see we do a lot of barbecues here.

We do a lot of, a lot, trust me.

Lobster rolls, we do it here, we got

everything it's crazy here.

The basketball court.

I mean it's not a basketball court,

I put it in the outside just to play around.

We play here, sometimes.

Yeah we shoot around.

We got this beautiful tree here too.

The texture is amazing when you touch it,

it's just like...

I think this is where they use the-

the wirelets.

That's culture.

This is my boy Enzo.

That's the king of the house.

I love motorcycles, there's some motorcycles here.

There's even a garage and I love the classic Defender.

I don't like to flex, that's not my style.

But, there some toys here,

Chulandulo,

Superbikes.

The classic Testarossa, which is one of the most emblematics

from Ferrari and my two babies are the most important ones.

Look, my dogs.

Here's another motorcycle.

Yeah, but you know.

Let's focus on the house.

So you can the house is black, everything is black.

You have another hidden bathroom here.

Crazy lighting.

Everything is black, the toilets are black, it's fire.

You can check it out if you want.

Black is really elegant man, and things like,

it's a powerful color.

You know it's serious.

You know, and the contrast between the black and the wood.

It just, it's really dope.

My life is colorful in my inside.

But my place has to be like more relaxing.

Yeah so I told you this is the first phase, basically

we trying to...

Build my own like village.

But this is the first, the second phase is gonna be

you'll be here.

Royal Opera House Announces Cast Change for Japan Tour’s ‘Turandot’

Update: “ Following the first announcement of the cast change in the role of Turandot, we have further discussed with Artistic Director Antonio Pappano to find the best possible artistic solution for audiences in this situation. The title role will now be sung by two sopranos, Maida Hundeling (on 23 and 26 June) and Ewa Płonka (29 June and 2 July). We apologise to our valued audience members who have been anticipating the original casting, but appreciate everyone’s kind understanding. We hope you will enjoy the performances.”

The Royal Opera House has announced a cast change for its Japan tour.

The company said, “It is with great regret that Sondra Radvanovsky has had to withdraw from the title role of Turandot on The Royal Opera’s Japan tour due to a severe ear infection and sinusitis. She will be replaced, at the recommendation of Music Director Antonio Pappano, by soprano Maida Hundeling, who is scheduled to sing the same role with The Royal Opera in 2025/2026 season, gaining greater attention.”

Hundeling has performed with the Wernigeröder Schlossfestspiele, the Thüringer Nationaltheater in Eisenach, Houston Grand Opera, Utah Opera, Edmonton Opera, Opéra de Montréal, and at opera houses in Hamburg, Leipzig, Braunschweig, Wiesbaden, Freiburg, Saarbrücken, Dortmund, Bielefeld, Münster, Ljubljana, Vienna, Venice, Bolzano, Modena, Milan, Brno, Ostrava, and Bratislava.

The soprano is set to join a cast that includes Brian Jagde and Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha . Sir Antonio Pappano conducts the opera which is set to be presented between June 23 and July 2.

Soho House will finally reach Japan , after the global private members club for creatives revealed plans for a Tokyo house that is set to open in 2026.

Located in the Tokyo’s upmarket Aoyama district, an area known for independent boutiques, fashion stores that is a stone’s throw from the Omotesando shopping area, Soho House Tokyo will become the company’s fourth branch in Asia .

Now that a building has been found, the company revealed drawings of the potential members spaces, as well as a rooftop pool. Soho House Tokyo will also have 42 bedrooms and event spaces.

The company says the interiors will “blend the beauty of Japanese minimalist design with the warm and comforting style of Soho House.”

Soho House has been on a rapid expansion track for a number of years, opening up branches in cities across the world in an effort to scale and to meet the demands of an increasingly global clientele. The company has, however, faced questions over its aggressive growth strategies and in February came under scrutiny from Wall Street short-sellers.

The London-based group currently has three houses in Asia, including Hong Kong, Mumbai and the recently opened Bangkok house. Soho House has confirmed that in 2024 and 2025 houses will open in Charleston, Manchester, São Paulo, Madrid and Milan as well as additional houses in Barcelona and Miami.

Additionally, Soho House has revealed plans for its first Australasian house, with a Sydney location set to open between the creative neighborhoods of Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, although no confirmed opening date for that branch has been given.

“Who could ask for anything more?” is a famous line from “I Got Rhythm,” a classic tune by George and Ira Gershwin that’s included in the latest show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. It’s not a bad question to ask.

You’ve got two solid stars up front, dozens of attractive singers and dancers behind them, and a wealth of both clever and romantic Gershwin songs. And, as if that weren’t enough, the inimitable Sally Struthers comes onstage to fill two comedic roles that supply some of the best laughs in the show.

Chalk it up to a production still coming together, but “Crazy For You” showed a few seams in terms of pacing in its first performance after opening night. But the impeccably performed vintage music and the let’s-put-on-a-show spirit of the book by Ken Ludwig carried the 2½-hour show through for an entertaining afternoon at the venerable summer theater on the southern coast of Maine.

The dynamic Max Clayton sang and danced like a veteran performer who knows where the audience-pleasing theatrical goodies are hidden. His banker character Bobby soon became a faux showbiz master as he falls for a girl and decides to revive her father’s theater in Nevada rather than foreclose on the property.

Clayton’s tap talents are many and were all smoothly executed with whirling flourishes that truly dazzled. His voice sold such long-time Gershwin favorites as “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” the latter accompanied by an impressive chorus of lovely, talented female singer/dancers.

Taylor Aronson plays Bobby’s love interest Polly, adding her own very natural-sounding delivery to such classics as “Someone To Watch Over Me” and “But Not For Me.” Aronson also held her own in romantic song and dance duets with Clayton on such tunes as “Shall We Dance” and “Embraceable You.” Director Angelique Ilo’s take on the show’s original dance moves, choreographed by Susan Stroman, fit the pair well in both upfront showy and more elegantly flowing moments. The 76-year-old Struthers again proved her brilliant comedic timing in scenes with Clayton and Jim Borstelmann, the latter as a companionable British twit. Her double takes and little exclamations were hilarious as were some timeless bits of physical comedy performed by others throughout the show.

Angie Schworer and Peter Kendall got hot and heavy on “Naughty Baby” while a Cowboy Trio and a group of layabout ex-miners spiced up several pieces. Alexandria Van Paris, Delaney Bailey, Jack Doyle and Tony Roach also stood out in secondary roles. All were backed by a jauntily swinging offstage band led by Ken Clifton while some occasional onstage percussion from the players, tapping feet and more, served to bring things forward.

The sets by Adam Koch and costumes by William Ivey Long mix old-style Broadway flash and rustic cowboy folksiness, placing the audience in a world closer to an earlier, 1930s incarnation (The Gershwin brothers’ “Girl Crazy”) on which this award-winning 1992 show was based.
