10 Of The Best Gold Coast Caravan Parks For Your 2024 Getaway

By Danielle Read

22nd Dec 2023

gold coast tourist caravan park

Nothing quite beats life on the open road. Whether it’s for the stunning landscapes, glimmering beachfronts or lush wild rainforests to call home for a night, we love a good caravan adventure. So chances are, the Gold Coast/Yugambeh language region is on your radar for pulling up at a caravan park.

With an impressive selection of waterfront sites, wilderness escapes or central stops to sample the finest Gold Coast tipple, eats and nightlife, you’re in luck. So pitch a tent, roll out the swag, park up on a concrete slab or get cosy in a cabin. Here are 10 of the best caravan parks Gold Coast has to offer, according to the Urban List team.

Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park

1544 gold coast hwy, palm beach qld 4221.

Ask any seasoned van-lifer— Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park is on high rotation for good reason.  Roll in to check out your front row seat to the much-loved Tallebudgera Creek. This you-beaut caravan park is tucked just off the Gold Coast Highway and welcomes you with a waterfront view begging you to either crack open a cold one or take an idyllic dip. We vote both.

A quick meander across the road to Custard Canteen for flaky, fresh pastries and you’re just steps from Tallebudgera Beach. If it’s a break from that camp kitchen life you’re after, we have good news. Located just across the road, Tallebudgera Surf Club is your go-to for beats eats and cheeky events like musical bingo.

Kirra Beach Tourist Park

10 charlotte st, coolangatta qld 4225.

two women at one of the gold coast's best caravan parks

As much as it pains us to say, treating the doggo to the best pet-friendly Gold Coast Airbnbs can’t go on forever. Deep down, you want them to do some character-building travels, too. So booking a caravan or cabin stay at one of Kirra Beach Tourist Park’s 40 furry-friend welcoming sites is a top choice. Varying in sizes and configurations (the dog-friendly powered sites, but we suppose the dogs too), tow in your caravan or camper trailer and wink at your new vanning paradise.

With an impressive fit out featuring a recreation room, sprawling pool, camp kitchen and dog wash, the little tackers can run a muck at the playground or twist your rubber arm to head down to the nearby patrolled beach. Kirra Beach Tourist Park is the perfect Gold Coast caravan park for picturesque seaside sunset strolls every day of the week.

Ocean Beach Tourist Park

22 hythe st, miami qld 4220.

Nestled within Gold Coast’s pristine coastline, park up at one of the Gold Coast’s best caravan parks, a stone’s throw from the ocean’s shores. Swing open the gate of your Ocean Beach Tourist Park stay, and be welcomed by Don Macksween Park. Also known as the lush baby parkland your summertime BBQ dreams are made of.

This tent-loving locale’s set at the foothill of North Burleigh Lookout, where it’d be rude not to climb the stairs and take in cityscape views. If you’re lucky, locals have been known to spot whales, pods of dolphins and rogue turtles catching a wave. This has got to be one of the Gold Coast’s best caravan parks for riders and walkers alike.

Burleigh Beach Tourist Park

36 goodwin terrace, burleigh heads qld 4220.

a retro caravan at one of the Gold Coast's best caravan parks

You’ve likely seen picture-perfect snaps of Burleigh’s iconic hill overlooking the ocean. Now, call that glimmering baby your front yard. Set directly opposite the breezy hotspot, we’re dubbing Burleigh Beach Tourist Park the best caravan park on the Gold Coast for an unbeatable location. If not for its moment’s walk to the surf beach, National Park walk and picnic hotspot, then certainly for its proximity to Burleigh’s best eateries , and hidden bars .

Not to mention the Coolangatta to Broadbeach express bus line that’ll get you south to north lickety-split. With air-conditioned cabins, retro caravans for hire and powered caravan sites up for grabs, get in quick to book this holidaymaker’s dream.

Nobby Beach Holiday Village

1 hillcrest parade, miami qld 4220.

The moment you get past the weird name, for many, Nobby Beach becomes a treasured Gold Coast locale. So, it’ll come as no surprise that Nobby Beach Holiday Village wins popularity contests as one of the Gold Coast’s best caravan parks on the Gold Coast Highway. Its ninja playground, swimming pools and waterslide draw a crowd of families and fun-seekers alike.

With incredible convenience, like the onsite mini mart, free Wi-Fi and in-room massages on offer, it’ll be hard to leave your villa, house or powered site. We are curious about those in-tent masseuse table shenanigans, though. Choose to explore? It’ll be well worth your while to take the short stroll to nearby seashores or check out one of Nobby’s next-level restaurants, bars and cafes .

Main Beach Tourist Park

Set a smidge away from Surfers Paradise’s dazzling lights, nightlife and hustle bustle, this expansive caravan park features endless activities at your fingertips. Stroll down nearby patrolled beaches, try your luck at King Tutt’s iconic putt putt, or even venture up the road and get flung into the air in a giant slingshot.

Fit with cabins sleeping up to six happy campers, ensuite sites and grassy knolls to roll your swag out on, Main Beach Tourist Park is the closest you’ll stay to The Spit’s waterways lined by luxury yachts, restaurants and the underwater wonderland that is Seaworld.

Broadwater Tourist Park

169 marine parade, southport qld 4215.

Snuggled just 17 minutes walking distance north of Australia Fair, this Gold Coast caravan park is brimming with hidden gems. Like creek view cabins, sprawling meadows and even an onsite tennis court.

A wander away from the ever-popular Broadwater Parklands, Broadwater Tourist Park is situated close to Southport’s Chinatown and within reach of Mr PP’s Deli & Rooftop and live music haunts like Vinnie’s Dive Bar. With 28 villas and its own boat ramp, lounge in one of two pools or cook up a feast in the camp kitchen. Hands down, one of the Gold Coast’s best caravan parks.

O’Reilly’s Campground

3582 lamington national park rd, canungra qld 4275.

aerial view of a Gold Coast caravan park

Fill the thermos to the brim and road trip to the Gold Coast hinterland to visit this sprawling camper’s delight. Situated within the lush rainforest of UNESCO World Heritage Lamington National Park, O’Reilly’s Campground is home to 17 powered safari tents, 24 campsites and 15 powered campervan sites.

With a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, accessible pathways and a location impressively close to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, make a day trip up to explore misty rainforest trails, rub shoulders with wildlife and feed flocks of birds. Come sunset, light your lanterns and head to the communal camp kitchen for a bird’s eye view of the McPherson Range. We swear this is the best Gold Coast caravan park for a front row seat of a star scattered sky.

BIG4 Holiday Park

66-86 siganto dr, helensvale qld 4212.

A trip to the Gold Coast wouldn’t be complete without an adrenaline-filled day at one of the many thrilling theme parks. Featuring cabins, caravan and camping sites galore, Helensvale’s Big4 Holiday Park is the best Gold Coast caravan park for theme park junkies. Actually, it’s so close to Wet ‘n Wild you can almost hear the screams of delight.

Across the road from Movieworld, Topgolf and Outback Spectacular, there’s fun for your whole gang. If Dreamworld and White Water World are more your style, take the whip two minutes up the road, and you’ve arrived. Or, opt to stay in and explore the monster Water Park, pool area and onsite cafe for morning cuppa Joes.

Rock Pools Group Site

Springbrook.

Unwind under a wound up rooftop tent and recharge the batteries at this picturesque Rock Pools Group Site snuggled into the Gold Coast hinterland. Seriously, you’ll need those wheels to be ready to roll in the morning. With 14 tent or RV sites available with up to 8 guests on each, you may even snag this locale to yourself.

While caravans aren’t allowed, campervans and cars are. A mere four km from Springbrook’s Natural Bridge, marvel at the adjoining rock pools, nearby views over the mountain range and greenery as far as the eye can see. With outdoor showers, friendly cows and kangaroos who frequent the rolling hills, this has got to be the best Gold Coast caravan parks for getting up close and personal with the great outdoors.
