Kshira chora gopinath temple.

Akhandalamani Temple

This temple of lord Shiva is located on the bank of Baitarani River at Aradi, which is 37 kilometers away from Bhadrak. On the day of Mahashivratri the devotees inside and outside the state assemble and worship at Aradi.

Panchalingeswar

Simlipal National Park

Barehipani Falls

It is a two tiered waterfall located in Simlipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district and is also one of the highest waterfalls in India. The primary attraction of this town is the unique beach wherein the sea recedes to as far back as 5 km during low tide; this often happens twice a day. Visitors love to use this opportunity to go strolling along the dry seabed, with some trying out cycling and driving as well. Because of the gradual gradient, the water seeps in slowly during high tide, making it perfectly safe to explore the seabed during ebb tide.  

Chandipur Beach Festival:

One of the most grandiose events in the region, the Beach Festival is celebrated in the month of January/February each year and includes a number of cultural programs, dance shows and sporting events. Also known as the Golden Beach Festival, the celebration lasts for four days and drives huge crowds of tourists to the town.

Day 1 Howrah to Blasore by train. Upon arrival at the Blasore railway station, you are received and driven to your Hotel at Panchlingeswar. This place is close to the Panchlingeswar Hill After lunch we will visit to the Panchalingeswar Temple. Tourists are primarily attracted to the village of Panchalingeswar to visit the Panchalingeswar Temple, which is the shrine of Lord Shiva. The temple is located on a hilltop near the Nilagiri hills and is renowned for housing five shivalingas, immersed in a small flow of water. You need to ascend 263 stairs to reach the temple. After visit this holy Temple we will go for Panchalingeswar Watch Tower. Tiffin & lunch will be served at Hotel. Night Stay at Panchalingeswar Hotel.

Day 2 Early morning we start our journey to the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Orissa spreads across an area of 272.75 square kilometers. The Forest ecosystem of Kuldiha provides an ideal habitat for the largest herbivore, the Gaur as well as the burrowing Pangolin, tiger, elephant, leopards, sambar, bison, gaur Rhesus-Monkey, Malabar Civet, Sambar, Barasingha, Hanuman Langur and giant squirrels. As one reaches the perfect clearing in the jungle, leopards can be seen licking themselves clean on extended branches of trees, while elephants and deers forage the ground. Jungle Fowl and monkeys are common sight there. After visit Kuldiha Forest we will go to the Devkund.

Devkund Water Fall a Beautiful Picnic Spot , which is a part of the Udala division of Similipal Forest Range can be visited via Nilagiri from Panchlingeswar. This dense forest surrounded with hills. The lake formed by a waterfall jumping from a height of 50ft to the Devkund. There are four other falls too and each of them makes a Kund or lake so there are five Kunds in total; and that explains the name—Pancha Kunda (Place of five lakes). Climbing up more than 100 steps from Devkund, at the source of the river, there is the temple of Devi Ambika Mata (Durga temple), which is worth seeing. Pujas are still performed in the temple built by the kings of Mayurbhanj in 1940. The chirping sound of known and unknown birds, the multi-coloured butterflies add to the charm of Devkund. After Visit Devkund our next destination Jagannath Mandir, King’s Palace, Chandi Mandir & Nilgiri. Night stay at Panchalingeswar Tourist Lodge.

Day 3 Early morning after breakfat visit Bhitarkanika National Park. Unesco World Heritage Site, Bhitarkanika is a Hot-spot of Biodiversity. It’s home to largetst population of salt water crocodile in India. The land of lush green mangroves, migrating birds and turtles, the menacing estuarine crocodiles, meandering water courses, tranquil surrounding intercepted by the chirping of birds and the ever embracing nature, entrails visitors from near and far off places to flock these unique places of tourist importance. This winter, the total number of crocodiles stands at 1,610, which is 38 more than last year. Out of 1,610 crocodiles, 1,485 are inside the sanctuary and 125 live on the fringes. Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) is the most common sea turtle in Indian waters. Large nesting sites are found in Orissa, the largest nesting site ever recorded is Gahirmatha adjacent to Bhitarkanika. After Visit Bhitarkanika we are shifted to Chandipur. Night stay at Chandipur Hotel.

Day 4 Early morning we will visit to the Chandipur Sea Beach. Watching the sea vanish right in front of your eyes and then observing its return is a very rare site. And to add more to this hide and seek of water, the Casuarina trees and creeper sand dunes seem to be swaying on a melodious musical note. Chandipur, where Jatin Chandra Mukherjee (popularly known as Bagha Jatin) was shot twice during his encounter with the British force. But he swam across the river and managed to escape to Barabati where a doctor along with six attendants operated on Jatin to take out the bullets. After a while, Jatin managed to reach the hideout at Chashakhanda village where the freedom fighters used to store ammunition. Unable to find the door key, he could not open the storeroom. Exhausted Jatin fell unconscious due to excessive bleeding. Later police reached the spot and got him admitted to a hospital at Barabati. Bagha Jatin was put under detention in Dhyari jail.

At 3.30pm we will visit for Buribalam, where the encounter between Bengali freedom fighter Bagha Jatin and the then British commissioner, Charles Tegart, took place. Night stay at Chandipur Hotel.

Day 5 Morning free for lisure. At 1pm we will shited to the Balasore Railway Station. At 6pm we will reach at Howrah Station. Moreover, the combination of a Jungle, serene sea and hilly terrain of the Eastern Ghats often proves to be a nature lover’s paradise.

Chandipur: soulful walk with the waves

A trip for self, a trip for isolation, a trip for soul and a trip for the wonders of nature. It’s a hidden beach.

The waves play hide and seek here, once you see the bare beach and the wet sand ,the next you see are huge gushing waves. This is what I knew before we could reach the place.

We were three girls on this trip, got down at Balasore Railway station and took an auto to Chandipur which is around 16-18 kms away. On the way are beautiful villages and green fields. We could feel the cold wind and knew we are very close. Got to the hotel must tell you that there are not many hotels and we were lucky enough to get a room in one. By evening we went to the beach and what we saw was no waves but only the wet sand. We walked towards the sea with few more wanderers soon it was dark. We saw people returning to the beach so did we. We sat at the shore on rocks. It grew dark and so we sat there waiting for something that we knew is about to come but didn’t know what. It was a memorable night the star studded sky, the safety red lights far in the sea and the sound of the waves from the far. Starting with small waves and by 9:00 pm there was the high tide we were amazed to see that.With all happy feelings we went back to the hotel which was not more than 400m away.

We planned to go early to the beach and watch the sunrise so next morning we went to the beach at around 5 – 5:30. Again there was only wet sand and no waves, it was calm and seemed like nothing has even been there. With a seekers heart we walked towards the sea unknown of what in ahead. We walked around 2kms and there was the sun rising on our left and the hidden waves ahead of us. This morning was one of the most beautiful one, it was one of the most peaceful one. We were walking with no fear and full of hope . As we moved ahead we found lots of sea shells and other creatures some small too tiny to be observed some big. They were wonderful to look at, colors that we never saw on the crayons set, where do these come from, it’s the nature, the creation of the almighty. Soon we reached close to the waves or should i saw the waves came close to us? This was an experience of a different world. There were fishermen putting their net and others collecting the one which they caught on net, there were fishes of different size and shape, crabs small and big.

We stopped by watching the fishermen putting their net and here I realized there is beauty in every detail of nature.

What a surreal view it was: sun rising to shine in glory and the little waves underneath our feet growing to kiss the skies and behind us was the whole world busy and engrossed in so many work. We could feel the little waves and with each one kissing our feet it grew so we walked back to the shore. We would stop by, face the sea and feel the waves and hear the cold wind blowing. I had the best time of my life with the waves and the sea creatures. With each step back to shore we had a little wave following us and this was wondrous. Reaching the shore we sat on the steps built there and the waves were huge and soon we were drenched by these magnificent waves. It was 10 am and there were now few people on the beach still this has so far been the least crowded beach. There are very few tourists which is the best thing about this place.

The Forest ecosystem of Kuldiha provides an ideal habitat for the largest herbivore, the Gaur as well as the burrowing Pangolin, tiger, elephant, leopards, sambar, bison, gaur Rhesus-Monkey, Malabar Civet, Sambar, Barasingha, Hanuman Langur and giant squirrels.

As one reaches the perfect clearing in the jungle, leopards can be seen licking themselves clean on extended branches of trees, while elephants and deers forage the ground. Jungle Fowl and monkeys are common sight there.

After visit Kuldiha Forest we will go to the Devkund.

Devkund Water Fall a Beautiful Picnic Spot , which is a part of the Udala division of Similipal Forest Range can be visited via Nilagiri from Panchlingeswar. This dense forest surrounded with hills. The lake formed by a waterfall jumping from a height of 50ft to the Devkund. There are four other falls too and each of them makes a Kund or lake so there are five Kunds in total; and that explains the name—Pancha Kunda (Place of five lakes). Climbing up more than 100 steps from Devkund, at the source of the river, there is the temple of Devi Ambika Mata (Durga temple), which is worth seeing. Pujas are still performed in the temple built by the kings of Mayurbhanj in 1940. The chirping sound of known and unknown birds, the multi-coloured butterflies add to the charm of Devkund.

After Visit Devkund our next destination Jagannath Mandir, King's Palace, Chandi Mandir & Nilgiri. Night stay at Panchalingeswar Tourist Lodge.

Early morning after breakfat visit Bhitarkanika National Park.

Unesco World Heritage Site, Bhitarkanika is a Hot-spot of Biodiversity. It’s home to largetst population of salt water crocodile in India. The land of lush green mangroves, migrating birds and turtles, the menacing estuarine crocodiles, meandering water courses, tranquil surrounding intercepted by the chirping of birds and the ever embracing nature, entrails visitors from near and far off places to flock these unique places of tourist importance.

This winter, the total number of crocodiles stands at 1,610, which is 38 more than last year. Out of 1,610 crocodiles, 1,485 are inside the sanctuary and 125 live on the fringes.

Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) is the most common sea turtle in Indian waters. Large nesting sites are found in Orissa, the largest nesting site ever recorded is Gahirmatha adjacent to Bhitarkanika.

After Visit Bhitarkanika we are shifted to Chandipur. Night stay at Chandipur Hotel.

Early morning we will visit to the Chandipur Sea Beach.

Watching the sea vanish right in front of your eyes and then observing its return is a very rare site. And to add more to this hide and seek of water, the Casuarina trees and creeper sand dunes seem to be swaying on a melodious musical note.

Chandipur, where Jatin Chandra Mukherjee (popularly known as Bagha Jatin) was shot twice during his encounter with the British force. But he swam across the river and managed to escape to Barabati where a doctor along with six attendants operated on Jatin to take out the bullets. After a while, Jatin managed to reach the hideout at Chashakhanda village where the freedom fighters used to store ammunition. Unable to find the door key, he could not open the storeroom. Exhausted Jatin fell unconscious due to excessive bleeding. Later police reached the spot and got him admitted to a hospital at Barabati. Bagha Jatin was put under detention in Dhyari jail.

At 3.30pm we will visit for Buribalam, where the encounter between Bengali freedom fighter Bagha Jatin and the then British commissioner, Charles Tegart, took place.

Chandipur, or Chandipur-on-sea, is a serene beach in the state of Odisha, near Balasore Village. Day 2 : Visit Panchalingeswar & Kuladiha wildlife sanctuary

After breakfast visit Panchalingeswar temple (40km)from Chandipur, which is the shrine of Lord Shiva, located on the hilltop near Nilagiri hills. It is renowned for housing of five shivlings immersed in a small flow of water. But you need to ascend 263 stairs to reach the temple. Have lunch on the way. Then proceed to Kuldihaa wildlife sanctuary which is 17 ‐24 Km from (depending upon entry point). Kuladiha Wildlife sanctuary spread across an area of 273 square Kms. It is an ideal habitat for the largest herbivore, the Gaur, pangolin, elephants, leopards, bison, sambar,langur and giant squirrels. O/n at hotel in chandipur.

Paris is going electric — for a new perspective on the city, take a low-carbon car tour

With its sights set on banning fossil fuel cars by 2030, Paris is embracing electric vehicles — and you can take one for a spin around the capital’s landmarks.

Vintage cars, with vintage engines, typically have a lot to say: they grumble around corners, groan up hills and continue to mutter to themselves even when they’ve come to a stop. But this one isn’t like the others. The white-and-blue Renault 4L, which rolled off the factory floor in 1955, should be as talkative as the rest of her kind. Yet, all I can hear as we stop at a red light between the honey-coloured apartments of the 8th arrondissement are wafts of French radio, blowing in through the sunroof on the breeze.

From the back seat, it’s hard to tell exactly where it’s coming from — beyond one of the cast iron balconies on either side, perhaps, or the next car over, where a blonde woman is cradling a miniature poodle on her lap.The light turns green, and the little Renault sparks into life. The engine sounds like a spaceship powering up— there’s an electrical whirring that grows increasingly high pitched. And then we’re away, speeding over the cobbles.   “She’s surprisingly powerful,” driver Renaud Garza calls back with a chuckle from beneath his navy chauffeur’s cap. “With the battery, I can drive at around 75mph.”

Increasingly, the streets of Paris are going electric. Like our Renault 4L, battery-powered cars have become a more popular sight over the last decade — together with a burgeoning herd of e-buses, bikes and even unicycles. It’s all part of the city’s plans to outlaw all but electric vehicles by 2030 in preparation for becoming carbon neutral by 2050. Officials have run incentives to boost the use of e-vehicles over recent years, such as the €100 (£85) per month leasing scheme that had to be phased out early due to the vigorous uptake. Infrastructure is being upgraded, too, with charging points appearing around Paris at increasingly regular intervals and a trial electrified motorway, which can charge cars as they drive, under construction nearby.

Renaud typically drives a fleet of petrol Citroën 2CVs between Paris’s blockbuster sights for his tour company 4 Roues Sous 1 Parapluie. But over the past few years, they have added an electric version alongside the Renault 4L. Both have retrofitted, specially designed batteries.

“Get ready — I’m about to drive in the most dangerous place in Paris,” Renaud calls from the front seat as we approach the Arc de Triomphe, the sound of sirens growing steadily louder as the traffic thickens. Here, 12 major roads, including the Champs-Élysées, converge into a vast, eight-lane roundabout with the alabaster arch at its heart, vehicles endlessly circling like planets around the sun.As we’re pulled into orbit, the little Renault judders across the cobblestones, rattling on a circuitous trajectory past uniformed gendarmes posing for photos and the arch’s intricate friezes. “The French invented the roundabout,” says Renaud with a proud nod. The Etoile, as this one is known, is the proud maman of them all.

We turn right down a shaded thoroughfare lined with plane trees, past cafes heaving with suited workers lunching beneath gold parasols, and bump across a bridge over the Seine to see our next stop piercing the sky. “The Eiffel Tower was built as the centrepiece for the 1889 World’s Fair,” Renaud explains as we draw closer to one of its broad, latticed feet. “Parisians didn’t like it at the time — they’d just finished their city with all of this nice stone and then this popped up. It was ugly, too industrial. But it was useful as a radio tower, so they kept it.” Soon, we’re close enough to see its ornate ironwork and the mechanics of the lift, the cogs slowly rotating. The garden around it is closed, in the process of being preened in preparation for its starring role in the Olympics’ opening ceremony — athletes will travel on boats for six miles down the Seine before coming to a stop here. It’s been 100 years since Paris last hosted the Olympics in 1924, and the tower is being repainted gold — closer to the colour Gustave Eiffel originally chose — to mark the occasion.

“The French are quite proud, it’s true,” Renaud says as we do another lap. “We want to impress the world.”
