The bike: 2018 R1200 GS with TFT screen I read the manual and followed the instructions to reset the trip computer screen on the TFT; however, everything reset except the trip meter. Is there a trick to getting that to reset?
We may have a terminology issue but the "odometer" is the record of all the miles on the bike and can not be changed at the user level. The trip meter A and B can be reset as you see fit. Let us know

Not noted in Lee's linked video is the ability to set Trip #2 to automatically reset whenever the fuel tank is filled. Just check the "Automatic Reset" box and push the wonder wheel left.

I have not filled the bike enough times to know what method I'll use on a trip. I liked the R1200 setup on trips. Trip one was reset at gas stops. Auto reset itself each night so I could see how far we went in a day. Trip 2 I let go for the trip so I could see my trip mileage and gas mileage for the trip. With one bump of the wonder wheel I could see all those values on one screen of the Nav V.

Noobie can't reset trip odometer

instrument cluster board damage is all i can think of... to reset the odometer, all it should take is a forefinger push for at least 2-5seconds, and you're done. If there is no response, then, you possibiliites are: 1) the contacts of the reset button are corroded; 2) the program on your instrument panel is corrupted; 3) you are not pushing the right button; or, 4) (if you are not the original owner) it's possible that the odometer has been previously tampered with...
aaargh... Many thanks darkhorse, I wondered if because I have the onboard computer tv thing there was a way to reset on there.

I have an e34 5 Series and couldnt reset my trip meter. The left button just wouldn't register. I discovered that the button is a little 'tapered' rubber sleeve that slides over a plastic pin. Inside the sleeve should be a little rubber bump stop to stop in sliding too deep over the pin, and in my case this wasn't functioning as it should. it meant the taper on the rubber sleeve was hitting the hole through the front of the cluster plastic and didn't allow it to push deep enough to actually engage the reset button. Pulling off the sleeve showed the reset button worked, so I found a replacement at a wreckers and problem solved!

Trip reset button not working

I just got this car and with my first tank of gas, I went to reset the trip meter and found out the button does bupkis. Am I missing something about the operation of it here? I don't know what's going on with it, has anyone seen this issue before? I did some Googling and can't find this having been an issue for anyone on this gen 7.
Resetting it via iDrive doesn't reset the one in the cluster for some reason, and the button doesn't do anything when used as instructed. I'm worried the cluster has to be replaced to fix it, which would be expensive and annoying since that button is also used to reset the service interval after an oil change.
Do you have any way of reading error codes from the diagnostic port? Like a Foxwell NT530, or ISTA with an ENET cable? It doesn't say in the instructions above how long to hold the button, and I have never actually reset mine. Maybe you need to hold it down for 30 seconds or something. I use ISTA to reset my service intervals, but some other code readers can do that also (like the Foxwell NT530). Maybe you need to hold the button down while the engine is off, and while still pressing the button, start the engine to reset the odometer?

The upper button on the turn signal stalk is where you toggle thru the different settings that appear on the right side of the instrument cluster. When you get to the screen that has the odometer and the trip odometer hold that button in for a few seconds and the trip odometer will reset to zero. Appreciate 2. MystroX5.

The left stalk also works on my 2014 and 2017 BMWs. tested. If you press the button on the instrument cluster, you clear the trip mileage (shown in the cluster only!). If you rest trip meter in iDrive, you clear every value that shown there - avg speed, mpg, mileage, travel time.

The trip computer function is set on automatic re-set, but that has never included the trip odometer, which requires pushing the odd shaped button on the lower left of the "instrument cluster." Having said that, there has to be a way to call up the odometer and toggle that display. Tap the button and the odometer comes up, if you remove the nav and fuel economy screens it will only have your odometer. The seocnd button isn't stricly for the M40i. It actives your auto higher beams when optioned appropriately.

You may need to press the "BC" button on the left steering wheel control stalk to see the miilage and trip odometer frist (I am not sure about that). You may also be able to reset the trip computer using iDrive-. Via iDrive: 1. "My Vehicle". 2. "Driving information". 3. "Trip computer".
