BTS is pulling all the stops for their world tour.  

The K-pop group's style is already incredible, but prepare for their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself World Tour ensembles to knock it out of the park. 

For the next leg of their tour, which kicks off in Los Angeles on Saturday, RM, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, J-Hope, V and Suga will be dressed in the sharpest looks designed by Dior Men's artistic director Kim Jones. The designer shared a sneak peek on his Instagram of what fans can expect the seven singers to be wearing during their upcoming shows. 

Jones' sketches feature the artists in an array of bombers, cargo pants and military-inspired sweaters that fashionably mix a retro and athletic vibe.

The designer -- who met BTS in Los Angeles  ahead of the GRAMMY Awards in February -- was inspired by each of the members' personalities.

"They all have their personal taste and style and it works so well together," Jones told WWD earlier this week. "Each member of the group chose the look they wanted, and we worked very organically to create each look for them. It was very collaborative."

"They are really great guys and super into fashion, and everyone I know is kind of crazy about them," Jones explained about wanting to work with the "Mic Drop" singers . "When I speak to my friends about meeting them, they all are obsessed by them."

On Wednesday, BTS took over the 2019 Billboard Music Awards , sharply dressed in coordinating Alexander McQueen looks. After taking home both awards they were nominated for, Top Social Artist and Top Duo/Group, they took the stage to deliver a high-energy performance of their new song , "Boy With Luv," with Halsey.

Fans and celebs alike couldn't get enough of the group. They were in high demand as Cardi B, Drake, Madonna, Becky G and many more clamored to take snaps with them.

Maluma will be dressed in Dior throughout the remaining dates of his 11:11 World Tour.

Kim Jones, artistic director of Dior men’s collections, adapted pieces from the Summer 2020 collection realized in collaboration with contemporary artist Daniel Arsham for the Colombian superstar to wear on his ongoing trek.

The outfits reflect the sportswear-meets-couture spirit of the Dior men’s universe and include a bold, standout white organza jacket with saturated and shaded blue pleating. The looks will also include monochrome ensembles, transparent jumpsuits with Dior’s iconic “newspaper” print and elegant suits.

“Fashion, just like my music, has allowed me to express myself creatively and be myself without needing to change to fit in,” Maluma said in a press release. “When I met Kim and the Dior team during my first Paris Fashion Week, they gave me the same energy. I am excited that they will be part of the 11:11 vision through design and help me offer fans a full experience of music, fashion, energy with no cultural barriers.”

The Colombian superstar will premiere the designs Wednesday during his show in Greece.

The Dior looks will be worn onstage throughout his world tour, which include stops in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and France.

Dior x Stone Island Capsule Collection Teases a ‘New Kind of Clothing Alchemy’

I n recent years, Dior ’s push into the world of casual luxury has not gone unnoticed. The high-fashion label’s foray into sneakers, while not ground-breaking, was met with widespread acclaim . Throw in a few Nike collaborations that garnered worldwide interest, and you will start to notice a pattern from the Kim Jones-led powerhouse. Now, the brand is going one step further, straying from conventional collaborations and turning to Massimo Osti’s much-loved streetwear brand, Stone Island.

The two fashion icons have unveiled a new Dior x Stone Island capsule collection that is more than comfortable riding the fence. With no foot firmly in either party, the collection manages to pull influences from both Dior’s Parisian haute couture heritage and Stone Island’s Northern Italian functional detailing. The result is a series of releases that feel luxurious by nature but utilitarian by design.

“There is a meeting of Monsieur Dior and Massimo Osti’s work for Stone Island in this collection,” Dior creative director Kim Jones said. “It Is the coming together of ‘obsessives’. They might have people from opposite ends of the fashion spectrum, from a haute couture vision to that of military functionality, yet I think they’d recognised something in each other and in what they achieved through clothing. Here, in the coming together of contrasting traditions, there’s a new kind of clothing alchemy.”

Key to the creative direction of the new collection was the use of silk as a material base. While it might seem a little over the top on the surface, the fabric is regularly used in military clothing production due to its ability to adapt to traditional garment dying techniques. It’s here that you really appreciate the Stone Island influence. Across the collection, we see a series of the brand’s most iconic pieces reimagined, most notably with the Field Jacket in Raso Gommato from Spring-Summer 1988, which has had its rubber and cotton material base replaced with cotton silk and embossed leather.

Similarly, there are touches of Dior classic tailoring thrown in for good measure. The Maison’s unique double pleat motif appears across the collection, with Jones revealing the designs primarily referenced Dior’s Spring-Summer 1952 haute couture collection. Of course, embroidery also makes an appearance within the capsule, albeit in an entirely new way. For the first time ever, Dior and Stone Island have employed a garment-dye embroidery technique, using examples from the haute couture archive, from Autumn-Winter 1955 and Spring-Summer 2013, respectively.

Going back to Dior’s recent footwear collaborative approach, the new Stone Island capsule also introduces a number of new shoes to the mix. Classic derby and boots cop a healthy dose of Dior DNA through the use of traditional construction elements, while the sneaker borrows much of its design influence from Stone Island. 

Somewhat remarkably, the new collection manages to capture both brands at very different points on the fashion spectrum, and it does so with consummate ease. Even the icon Stone Island compass rose has been overlayed with Dior’s cannage design to create a true blending of worlds, and it must be said, it just looks right. The new Dior x Stone Island capsule collection is available in-store and at the official Dior online boutique.

Beverly Hills Hotel pool -5-24

A touch of Dior has landed at the Beverly Hills Hotel just in time for summer.

For the second year in a row, the French fashion house has taken over the legendary hotel’s pool area, decorating it in Dior motifs and installing an adjacent Dioriviera pop-up boutique unveiling a capsule collection evoking a Mediterranean beach vacation.

Placed around the pool and lounge areas are life-size, seashell-covered animals such as lions, giraffes, monkeys and tigers, adding a jungle feel to the space surrounded by tropical plants.

A few steps away, a pop-up boutique features the Dioriviera collection, which was first designed in 2018 by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri . The space is made to look like a beachy apartment with raffia wallpaper, bamboo accents and decor. It’s filled with styles geared for the beach and beyond with ample daywear.

There are swimsuits, belted striped cardigans, dresses, scarf tie blouses, mid-length skirts, handbags, totes, sandals, straw hats, towels, pareos, silk scarves and Dior Book totes. In addition, Dior Maison items are on offer including tableware sets and linens.

More Dior Maison items are on display in the nearby citrus garden separating the hotel from the pool where there are Dior Maison Dioriviera deck chairs, umbrellas, floor pillows and cushions on display.

To experience Dior’s beauty offerings, visitors don’t have to go far. This year, for the first time, there is a Dior Spa Residency located inside the hotel’s large spa. Three treatment rooms are decorated with vibrant coral pink toile de Jouy Soleil accents. Last year, a smaller spa was located in a poolside cabana. This year’s spa expansion allows outside guests to take advantage of the six signature face and body treatments Dior is offering.

For example, there is a 90-minute treatment called the Californian Glow by Dior, which is dedicated to skin recovery. There is also a 60-minute high-performance antiaging treatment, called the Kobi-Dior, inspired by Kobido techniques developed in Japan.

In addition, there is a selection of Dior’s skin care and fragrance collections for sale, including L’Or de Vie, Dior Prestige and La Collection Privée Christian Dior.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of six Dioriviera pop-ups around the world, including locations in France, China, Turkey and South Korea. They join eight Dior boutiques and 12 resort concept stores.

“Following the tremendous success of last year’s collaboration, we are thrilled to once again partner with Dior to create a transporting experience that is as stylish as it is sensory,” noted John Scanlon, the hotel’s general manager. “The timeless appeal of our legendary pool provides the perfect backdrop to celebrate summertime with a splash of sophistication and whimsy, while the spa’s toile de Jouy aesthetic and specialty curated treatments capture the radiance of the restorative summer season.”

The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the oldest resorts in the Los Angeles area and an iconic luxury location. It was commissioned by Margaret Anderson for a 1912 opening, two years before Beverly Hills became a city. The original hotel was designed by Pasadena, Calif., architect Elmer Grey in a Mediterranean-revival style. At the time, it was more of a dude ranch in the midst of bean fields, with horseback riding as one of the main highlights. Beverly Hills remained a small town for a while; in 1920, the now world-famous city had only 674 residents while neighboring L.A. had 574,000 people.

But the city and its fame have grown since. The hotel, affectionately called the “Pink Palace” for its pink exterior, has had several Hollywood moments and brushes with fame. A number of movies were filmed here, including “Let’s Make Love,” with Marilyn Monroe; “Designing Woman,” with Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall, and “California Suite,” written by Neil Simon. Hotel guests in the 1950s through the 1970s included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Princess Margaret and John Wayne. John Lennon and Yoko Ono hid out in a hotel bungalow for a week.

It is a well-known Hollywood gathering spot and the hotel’s Polo Lounge is known for its power lunches for movers and shakers in the entertainment industry.

The 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival just wrapped up in the French Riviera. This year's affair, well attended by A-listers, supermodels, socialites, influencers and film industry folks, didn't disappoint in delivering high-wattage fashion moments. 

The red carpet events featured glamourous, straight-from-the-runway looks, countless Met Gala-level gowns, and even some red-carpet drama between attendees and security. I was disappointed to see too many men opt for black suits and basic tuxedos. But there were still plenty of standouts to highlight overall. Here are the most notable looks from the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The star of The Substance , which had its world premiere at the festival, wore Chopard jewelry and a strapless, black and white Celine dress with a statement bow to the closing ceremony. The sleek look was styled by Canadian-American Brad Goreski, who also dressed Moore in looks by Schiaparelli Haute Couture, Elie Saab and Loewe over the course of the week. 

Leomie Anderson

British model Leomie Anderson stood out in Damiani Mimosa jewelry and a black strapless taffeta gown by Sophie Couture. Featuring an oversized train and an abundance of black and bright yellow feathers, this look was as stunning in motion as it was in photos.

The Belgian-Congolese musician, actor and filmmaker — and a co-president of this year's Caméra d'Or jury — sported some very stylish suits at Cannes, including a black skirt suit look featuring a Café Costume tuxedo jacket. Gold jewelry, black nail polish and a Superduper hat added the finishing touches. 

Rawdah Mohamed

A model, influencer and former fashion editor of Vogue Scandinavia, Mohamed wore two eye-catching looks to Cannes this year, including this sculptural, custom dress by Cheney Chan (who also dressed Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha in a similar silhouette at the festival) styled with coordinating glasses by Austrian brand Neubau Eyewear. 

Leonie Hanne

Hanne, a fashion influencer, wore several beautiful black and white gowns at Cannes. Her top look was an all-white, custom gown by bridal brand Milla Nova, featuring a lengthy train and oversized bow, accented with De Beers jewelry. It's a look that made a bold entrance, and an even grander exit.

Mitchell Akat Maruko Raan

At the red carpet event for Grand Tour , the model looked regal and radiant in UAE-based Filipino fashion designer Harvey Cenit's "Medusa" dress. The three-dimensional, gold breastplate is arresting, and the winged, removable sleeves add just the right amount of drama.

The French singer-songwriter wore a custom Dior look inspired by the French fashion house's iconic 1947 "Bar" suit by Christian Dior, which became a symbol of the influential "New Look." She paired it with all-black accessories: a hat by London milliner Stephen Jones, leather gloves and pumps.   

Steven Doan

For the premiere of Bird , the celebrity stylist wore a couture look by Ho Chi Minh City-based label Le Thanh Hoa, which he describes as a beautiful "man dress." Styled without a shirt and layered over two delicate necklaces, the all-white Vietnamese silk suit was a sartorial standout. 

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Model and actress Huntington-Whiteley wore a stunning, strapless Victoria Beckham jumpsuit with floor-length silver fringing to the red carpet for The Substance. Styled by Hollywood pro Dani Michelle, the look was completed with Jimmy Choo shoes and major earrings from Tiffany & Co. 

Greta Gerwig

Barbie director Greta Gerwig, who is also the Jury President of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, chose a bright pink gown and black opera gloves for the L'Amour ouf red carpet. The dress is by Balenciaga Haute Couture and Gerwig's earrings are by Chopard, and the winning look was styled by Canadian dynamo Karla Welch.  

Izabel Goulart

Several current and former Victoria's Secret models attended Cannes this year, and Goulart was among the best dressed. The Brazilian model wore a backless coffee brown jersey and gazar haute couture Stephane Rolland dress to the red carpet for L'Amour ouf . Her slicked-back, centre-part hairstyle offered a modern counterpoint to the dreamy, cloudlike neckline.

Actress Joey King made her Cannes debut in two conversation-starter custom gowns: a blue sheer number by Cong Tri and this butter yellow dress by Miu Miu. Oh, and there was a haircut in between the two red carpets! The sleek latter look, styled with an outfit-making pair of black, crystal-embellished gloves, was a chic complement to King's youthful new bob.     

Cate Blanchett

The Australian actress and producer wore a customized version of a dress from Haider Ackermann's collection for Jean Paul Gaultier, paired with a Louis Vuitton necklace made from repurposed pearls and diamonds. The look led to some online debate as to whether the pale pink, black and green gown was a pro-Palestinian fashion statement from the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.

Having lost against tech giants, now the agency is going after luxury handbags. That’s more its speed.

Occam’s razor , or the principle of parsimony, says that when seeking to solve a puzzle, first try the simplest explanation. So: Perhaps the Biden administration, with its pronoun police and it’s-for-your-own-good-that-we-are- coming-for-your-stoves annoyances, is riddled with Republican moles bent on making progressivism ridiculous.

How else to explain the Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust worrywarts mounting their high horses and galloping off to rescue affluent consumers from the threat to “affordable luxury” or “accessible luxury” in the market for women’s high-end handbags? Those phrases are, however, semi-oxymorons. And what can “monopoly” mean concerning entirely discretionary purchases?

Tapestry, which owns Kate Spade, Stuart Weitzman and Coach, wants to buy, for $8.5 billion , Capri, which owns Versace, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors. The two firms’ combined 2023 revenue was about $12 billion. This is about $80 billion less than the revenue of the Paris-based luxury giant LVMH, which owns, among many other status conveyors (e.g., Tiffany, Bulgari, Dior, Louis Vuitton), Hermes, which makes Birkins, the ne plus ultra of to-die-for handbags.

The head of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition is spurred to action by a hypothetical : Tapestry, he surmises, wants to become “ a serial acquirer ,” and merging with Capri would “further entrench its stronghold in the fashion industry.” “Stronghold”? The Tapestry-Capri combination would leave slightly more than 90 percent of the U.S. luxury goods market to competitors. If, however, 10 percent market share triggers FTC antitrust nightmares, the commission’s trust busters will never want for work, which might be the point of its foray into high fashion.

The FTC, which has brooded about the Tapestry-Capri menace for months, thinks the merger might raise prices in the fashion accessories sector. The FTC fretting about the prices paid by the quite affluent who are eager to emulate the seriously wealthy misses this point: Among luxury goods, high prices can be selling points.

In 1976, British economist Fred Hirsch distinguished between the “material economy” and the “positional economy.” The latter concerns things — e.g., luxury handbags — that are inherently enjoyments for the few. When affluence satisfies basic material needs (food, housing, transportation) and yesterday’s luxuries become necessities (e.g., cars, air conditioning) positional goods — e.g., a “choice” suburb, an “exclusive” vacation spot, an “elite” education, beachfront property — gain importance. They are delightful because they cannot become majority enjoyments.

(Paintings are durable positional goods: They are not making any more Monets. Positional goods can, however, be perishable. Is a Columbia University degree still one?)

Thorstein Veblen (1857-1929) understood this in 1899. He was an economist whose mordant prose expressed his unenthralled assessment of the world and everything in it. (He considered a walking stick “an advertisement that the bearer’s hands are employed otherwise than in useful effort.”) He saw everywhere what a Veblen scholar called “the virus of competitive emulation.”

Hence the concept of a “Veblen good” : something for which, in defiance of basic economic reasoning, demand increases as its price does. Inflated prices inflate the buyer’s self-esteem and the envy of the many who are excluded from a small community of positional consumption. Virtue-signaling is an ostentation for the many, available to anyone with strong opinions and moral vanity. Wealth-signaling is for the fortunate few.

The current FTC, which thinks it has a roving commission to prevent all imperfections, actual or anticipated, in the U.S. economy, also opposes the Tapestry-Capri merger because the firms’ hourly wage workers might suffer from diminished competition for such labor. Making a mountain from this hypothetical molehill will strain even the FTC’s imagination: The two companies combined have only 33,000 employees globally , fewer than Walmart has just in Wisconsin .

The FTC might feel less anxiety about the potential exploitation of “conspicuous consumption” customers if it remembers what psychologists call “the hedonic treadmill”: Human beings experience spikes of happiness from many causes — marriage, children, handbags — but soon revert to a stable level of contentment. At least until a new handbag or other luxury good triggers an urge for emulation.

Then the wheels of high-end commerce whir. And purveyors of luxury, while wary of the FTC’s scolds, must calibrate how “affordable” or “accessible” they can make luxury without spoiling the fun of tormenting the excluded.

Today’s FTC is becoming the Cleveland Spiders of federal agencies. The 1899 Spiders lost 40 of their last 41 games en route to a 20-134 record, baseball futility never subsequently matched. The FTC, having lost big cases against Meta and Microsoft, might think it has found in handbags a crisis commensurate with its capacities.
