Get The Barbarian In The Corner Another Drink In Tavern Management Sim Travellers Rest

Stardew valley beginner walkthrough: how to start playing, roblox: motorush codes, quick links, keep a simple menu, mine minerals daily, use your aging barrels overnight, focus on being self-sufficient, plan your schedule, do not hire a lot of staff, use strategies to serve efficiently, refill your water bucket often, do not spend much on agatha's shop.

Tavern management may seem like a daunting task as a beginner in Travellers Rest . You need to work fast to ensure your customer satisfaction while focusing on the growth of your bar. While the game's tutorial does teach you a lot of things, you need much more than that to maximize your profits.

The tavern simulation and adventure video game Travellers Rest has officially opened its doors for business on Steam’s Early Access program.

There are a few beginner tips that you should keep in mind to avoid mistakes during your gameplay. You will also be able to run your Tavern more efficiently if you take a few steps in the right direction.

Granted that Travellers Rest has a wide variety of recipes , you might be inclined towards adding more dishes to the menu. However, that might not be a good move for a beginner, especially when your restaurant staff is limited. You will end up overwhelming yourself with the preparation of various dishes while neglecting customers which will damage your reputation .

It's best to start with a few simple recipes that use fewer ingredients . You will be able to manage your resources efficiently while also increasing your profit. Some profitable beginner recipes include Grilled Steak, Porridge, and Bread . It's safe to focus on two drinks at a time since you have two Aging Barrels in your cellar.

You need a lot of coal, stone, and other ores for crafting purposes, especially during the later part of the game. You can smelt Iron ore into Iron bars on your crafting table to craft items. At the Stone Workstation, you can use the stones you gathered. You will be wasting a lot of resources if you skip mining daily as the Mineral Lodes reset every day .

Coal is an excellent fuel source, and you need a lot of it throughout your gameplay. To make almost anything in Travellers Rest, you need fuel to get your equipment working. It also saves you from the effort of chopping down multiple trees to get Kindling and Firewood.

Aging takes a lot of time, but you can cut that time short if you go to bed and sleep to start the next day . You can store items that require aging in the barrels in the cellar, once you have some time left after closing your Tavern. This is an efficient way to make use of your time while you are sleeping.

Sell the maximum-aged drinks to earn maximum profit

The market in the town will provide you with some of the basic items, including meat, vegetables, and fish. However, to make the maximum profit, you may want to cut down on your expenses while shopping. It might take a while before you unlock fishing and livestock, so focus on growing vegetables.

You cannot keep serving your customers Water and Gruel – as you will get very little profit , so it's important to grow some produce that you can use in your recipes. We recommend you to grow plants and fruit trees that you can harvest repeatedly. Additionally, growing two to three vegetables is enough to make Vegetable Broth.

When purchasing seeds, keep in mind that specific crops will only be grown in certain seasons.

Tavern management can be overwhelming especially if you do not plan ahead. However, planning your day can help you get through it easily. There are a couple of steps that you have to take early in the morning before opening your Tavern.

As soon as you wake up, you should head to your kitchen to prepare a few recipes , as they take a little time to complete. Once your food starts processing, move out to tend to your crops . You can also take care of a few other tasks such as shopping, mining, or fishing .

Head inside the Tavern again once you are done and place the cooked food on the menu . Once you open your Tavern, we recommend you focus on it solely . If you try to do other tasks, you might cause your customers dissatisfaction while they are waiting for you.

While additional hands do help with the smooth running of the Tavern, they are also costly and can leave you bankrupt. Do not hire any staff as beginners unless you earn a stable income every day.

When you do get a bit of stable income, hiring staff will still give you much more freedom while your Tavern is open. You can hire either a Waiter or a Bartender for starters, since they will help you with food and drinks.

Your customers are travellers who are visiting your restaurant after a tiresome journey, so it's best not to make them wait too long. There are a few serving strategies that can help you serve them quickly. You also want to avoid a huge line at the counter .

Place the tables close to each other , and if they are near your counter, you can take care of your customers faster. If two or more customers order drinks, use your tray to carry a few . Keep the mop selected in the toolbar below so that you can clean your tavern quickly while also getting rid of unruly customers.

Water is one of the most used resources in Travellers Rest, so make sure to fill your water bucket every time you come across a well . This will save you from the hassle of leaving your Tavern to get some water whenever you need some for a recipe.

Make sure to fill up the Keg with Water before opening the Tavern to serve it quickly, as many customers will be ordering it even if you have some alcoholic beverages in stock.

Buying some decorations for your restaurant might seem appealing and will improve your Tavern's environment. However, do not spend a lot on expensive decorations . We recommend you craft some simple items like the Candle Holder to increase your customer's comfort.

TR-woodCuttingQuest

To cut it down the player needs to equip the axe (select it scrolling the mouswheel or pressing the number relative to the axe inventory slot, open the inventory with the I key and drag and drop it in one of the numbered slots if its not already there) and not be in Decoration Mode. Then go close to the tree and keep the F key pressed when there is the relative promt. The character will walk in position and start cutting down the tree. The wood and the other items will be dropped after the end of the falling tree animation, it's important to pick them up because they will be needed in the next quests.

Search other 5 trees and repeat the process. Once the final tree has fallen, the game pausing pop-up will appear, rewarding the player with a Sawmill, a Copper Scythe and 1 XP. The player will recive a new quest: "Fabricate Planks".

Fabricate Planks [ ]

"Fabricate 20 wooden planks at the Sawmill"

The "Fabricate planks" quest becomes available at the end of the "Cut Down Trees" quest. To complete it the player has to fabricate 20 wooden planks, but to do so it's necessary to clear the ground with the Copper Scythe and position the Sawmill (both gained as a reward for the previous quest).

To place the Sawmill the player has to go outside the tavern, find a spot in the grass, possibly without rocks, ore veins and tree (the tree can be cutted if needed but rock and ore can't be removed, so they will occupy space). Remove the tall grass using the Copper Scythe with a LEFT CLICK after having equipped it (to equip items scroll the mouse wheel or press the number relative to the desired item slot, open the inventory with the I key and drag and drop it in one of the numbered slots if its not already there) . Once the spot is completely clear, the player can enter Decoration Mode (pressing the B key), select the Sawmill (same process as described above) and place it using LEFT CLICK. Every cell of the 10 by 8 grid you can see when moving the Sawmill in the ground (only visible in Decoration Mode) needs to be completely free, if its not, the cell will be coloured red and the player needs to exit Decoration Mode (pressing the B key) and clear eventual grass and trees. No item can be placed directly adjacent to the map border (1 cell of free space it's needed) or on the road .

TR-woodenPlanksQuest

A correctly placed Sawmill, in the 10 by 8 area there are no obstacles. A Wooden Plank has been crafted and the product needs to be collected.

Once the Sawmill has been correctly placed, the player can deactivate Decoration Mode, go close to the machine and interact with it by pressing the E key. The Sawmill crafting menu will be open and the player can then craft Wooden Planks. To do so the player has to click on the correct recipe, making sure to have the required ingredients (2 Woods). Once the recipe has been selected, the menu will automatically close and a timer will start. Once the process has finished (the circle above the machine is completely yellow) the player can walk close to the Sawmill and press the E key to collect the product. Every Wooden Planks crafting produce 5 Planks (without skills), 20 Wooden Planks will be needed for the quest, so the process needs to be repeated 4 times, for a total of 8 Wood required.

Once the player has the 20 Wooden Planks in his inventory, the quest will end. The reward is a Copper Pick and 1 XP, the "Mine Metals" quest will also be unlocked.

Mine Metals [ ]

"Mine 4 metal seams with the Copper Pick"

TR-characterMining

Character mining a medium size iron vein.

The "Mine Metals" quest is unlocked after the "Fabricate Planks" quest has been completed. The goal of the quest is to mine completely 4 veins of materials . Even if there is written to mine "metal seams", mining stone or coal vein also count towards the quest goal, even if they are not metals. It is however recommended to mine Iron vein , since it will be required in the next quest.

The material vein are scattered north and south of the main building, in different dimensions and colors. Iron is a rock with bluish pieces, copper is a rock with browny pieces, coal is a rock with black pieces.

To mine any vein of material, regardless of size, the player has to walk close to it, equip the Copper Pick and keep the F key pressed when there is the relative promt. The character will walk into position and start mining the vein. Every few swing of the pickaxe, a chunk of material will fall of and can be collected. Once a vein has been collected, the pieces embedded in the rock will be missing and the vein cannot be excavated until the next morning.

Once 4 veins of material have been mined, the player will be rewarded with a Smelter , an Anvil , a Stump with Axe and 1 XP. The "Make Nails" quest will be available.

Make Nails [ ]

"Craft 10 iron nails using the Smelter and the Anvil"

The "Make Nails" quest activates at the end of the "Mine Metals" quest. To complete it, the player has to craft 10 Iron Nails using the Anvil, but only after having placed an Anvil and a Smelter and using the latter to melt the iron ore.

TR-fuel

Highlighted in red the things related to fuel in the Smelter: on the left under the fuel value there are the slots with the fuels, close to each recipe there is the needed fuel value.

The player needs to clear a 10 by 8 space as has done for the Sawmill , a Copper Scythe and a Copper Axe help if needed. Then, open the Decoration Mode (press B) and place the Smelter . The Anvil can the be positioned inside the Smelter working area . Remember to turn off the Decoration Mode when everything has been placed. Now it's possible to interact with the Smelter.

To craft Iron Nails, Iron Bars are needed. The crafter used to fabricate Iron Bars is the Smelter. Once opened the Smelter menu (by pressing E) it is possible to see that for every batch of Iron Bars, 2 Iron Ores and a fuel value of 10 are needed. The left side of the menu is dedicated to fuel: on top there is the current fuel value present in the machine, underneath it there are three slots representing the different fuels that is possible to use. Every fuel type has a different value of fuel: Sticks add 1, Firewoods add 5, Coal adds 50. The game starts with 20 Firewood, so you can use it, or you can also use the Sticks you gained by cutting trees in the previous quest or the Coal you gain by mining the deposits with black pieces scattered around the map. If more Firewood is needed place the Stum with Axe (gained in the previous quest) in the Sawmill working area : by interacting with it it's possible to craft 5 Firewood using 2 Woods. For every batch of Iron Bars its needed just a fuel value of 10, so add enough fuel by clicking on the wanted one on the left part of the menu, click the Iron Bar recipe and wait until the clock has turn yellow.

Two Iron Bars will be enough, so you can enter the Anvil and check its menu: even in this machine fuel will be needed. Add enough fuel (15 for a batch of 5, so 30 total are needed) and craft two batches of Iron Nails. After creating the second batch of Iron Nails, the quest is over and you have been rewarded with a Work Bench and 1 XP. The "More Tables" quest has also been unlocked.

With ancient mountain ranges and historic trails, Travelers Rest truly gets more beautiful with age. Today, Travelers Rest still lives up to its name, serving as a haven for nature lovers, food enthusiasts, and those seeking adventure. Wherever you go in town, scenic views and good stories are never far. Here are 14 ways to make the most of your visit to TR.

“Tomorrow online passport renewal will go live for the first time ever for the entire country,” Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma said at the Skift Global Forum travel conference in New York on Tuesday, September 17, according to Reuters .

Online passport renewal has been available since mid-June through a public beta test . It offered a limited number of daily slots to U.S. citizens age 25 and up. Around 200,000 people participated in the online passport renewal program, said Verma.

Online passport renewal eligibility requirements

While the program is now available to more people, it’s only offered for renewal of regular tourist passports. Diplomatic, official, and service passports can’t be renewed online. In addition, travelers must meet certain eligibility requirements to renew their passport online , including:

  • Living in a U.S. state or territory
  • Current passport is or was valid for 10 years
  • Age 25 or older
  • Not changing name, gender, date of birth, or location of birth
  • Able to upload a digital passport photo and pay with a credit or debit card
  • They are in possession of their passport and it’s not damaged
  • You have no international travel plans for at least 8 weeks from the date of your application

If your passport has been expired for more than five years, you won’t be able to renew it online, said Verma.

This shift to online renewal marks a significant step in modernizing the U.S. passport renewal process, which had remained largely unchanged for decades. The convenience of online applications is expected to make the process more accessible to busy travelers, especially those in remote areas without easy access to a passport office or post office. The State Department estimates that around 50% travelers will renew their passports online in the near future.

Is online passport renewal faster?

While renewing a passport online might be easier and more convenient, travelers will still need to plan ahead. The State Department notes that the time it takes to get a passport renewed online will be the same as the old-fashioned way of renewing by mail.

Current processing times for routine passport renewal are 6 to 8 weeks. This is up from 7 to 10 weeks for travelers who applied for routine passport renewal between November 6, 2023 and December 17, 2023.

Expedited processing isn’t available for online passport renewals at this time. So if you need it faster, you’ll want to opt for expedited renewal by mail, which takes 2 to 3 weeks. If you have an international trip planned within 14 days, you can make an appointment at a passport agency for an urgent renewal .

Cost of online passport renewal

As for cost, online passport renewals won’t save travelers any money—the standard $130 fee applies, whether you choose the convenience of renewing digitally or stick with the traditional mail-in process.

Fed Announces Big Rate Cut

“We concluded that this was the right thing for the economy and the people we serve,” the Federal Reserve chair, Jerome Powell, said, referring to the central bank’s decision to cut interest rates by half a point.

Takeaways from the Fed’s rate cut decision.

Federal reserve cuts interest rates for the first time in four years, jerome h. powell, the fed chair, said that the central bank would take future interest rate cuts “meeting by meeting” after lowering rates by a half percentage point, an unusually large move..

Today, the Federal Open Market Committee decided to reduce the degree of policy restraint by lowering our policy interest rate by a half percentage point. Our patient approach over the past year has paid dividends. Inflation is now much closer to our objective, and we have gained greater confidence that inflation is moving sustainably toward 2 percent. We’re going to take it meeting by meeting. As I mentioned, there’s no sense that the committee feels it’s in a rush to do this. We made a good, strong start to this, and that’s really, frankly, a sign of our confidence — confidence that inflation is coming down.

The Federal Reserve cut interest rates on Wednesday by half a percentage point. Here are some takeaways from the decision and from remarks by the Fed chair, Jerome H. Powell.

The Fed’s decision lowers rates to about 4.9 percent, down from a more than two-decade high.

Fed officials lowered interest rates because they are confident that inflation is coming back down to their 2 percent goal, and now they want to prevent the job market from softening further.

Central bankers expect to cut interest rates more in the months to come, but they are not on a preset path, Mr. Powell said. They could speed up if the economy is weak and slow down if it’s strong.

The Fed is keeping a wary eye on the uptick in unemployment, but for now it thinks the economy is basically strong.

The Fed is feeling “growing confidence” that it can pull off the soft economic landing by lowering interest rates.

In short, the Fed has pivoted to its rate cutting era, and there is more to come.

The S&P 500 and tech-heavy Nasdaq both closed roughly 0.3 percent lower, a modest drop, after rising earlier in the day on the news of the half-percentage rate cut. Overall, the market doesn’t seem spooked by the larger-than-usual rate cut. Investors had already bet on this bigger move, and the Fed’s messaging – that it wasn’t an emergency cut – also offered reassurance.

Vice President Kamala Harris is out with a statement that makes clear she is not ready to declare “mission accomplished” on inflation. “While this announcement is welcome news for Americans who have borne the brunt of high prices, my focus is on the work ahead to keep bringing prices down,” she said.

Powell has finished his press conference. We'll be right back with a few big takeaways.

Lydia DePillis

Lydia DePillis

Ryan Sweet, chief U.S. economist at Oxford Economics, is in the camp that the Fed is making up for not having started to cut in July. “The Fed also doesn’t like to admit policy errors, but some of the decision for a larger cut in September is likely to get caught up as the central bank found itself behind the curve by one meeting,” he wrote in a note. “Therefore, the September decision is a preemptive strike to increase the odds that the central bank can pull off a soft-landing.”

Michelle Bowman, the one committee member who wanted a smaller cut, seemed concerned about a resurgence in inflation as recently as last month. “I still see some upside risks to inflation as supply conditions have now largely normalized and any further improvements to supply seem less likely to offset price pressures arising from increasing geopolitical tensions, additional fiscal stimulus, and increased demand for housing due to immigration,” she said in remarks to the Alaska Bankers Association .

Ben Casselman

The Fed’s last meeting, in July, came just two days before a disappointing jobs report that showed rising unemployment and slowing hiring. Many economists said at the time that the report showed that the Fed should have cut rates — and Powell just suggested he agrees with them. If they had gotten the jobs report before their meeting, he said, “we might well have” cut rates.

One interpretation of today’s half-point cut is that it is making up for the quarter-point cut the Fed didn’t make in July. Powell hasn’t endorsed that interpretation, but he hasn’t exactly rejected it either.

Joe Rennison

Stocks have eased and the S&P 500 is now down for the day.

The real problem when it comes to housing, Powell says, is the lack of supply — a long-term problem that is outside of the Fed’s control.

Powell is asked about housing inflation, which has proved stubborn even as other consumer prices have risen more slowly. He says that the process has been slower than expected, but that data suggests that rents are easing, and that he is confident housing inflation will ultimately cool.

The ‘dot plot’ shows more rate cuts are coming, but disagreement on how many.

Federal Reserve officials agree that Wednesday’s rate cut is unlikely to be their last. They are much less united on how far or how quickly they will decide to lower rates moving forward.

The chart below, known as the “dot plot,” helps tell the story. Each dot represents one Fed official’s forecast for where interest rates will be at the end of each year.

Where Fed Officials Expect Rates Will Be

travellers rest forum

target rate

projections

Each dot represents what one Fed official thinks the target rate should be at the end of this year and the next.

travellers rest forum

In 2024, for example, nine of the central bank’s 19 officials expect rates to end the year at about 4.4 percent, half a point below where they stand after the jumbo rate cut on Wednesday. That suggests those officials expect to make more modest, quarter-size cuts in each of the two meetings they have scheduled for the rest of the year.

But seven policymakers expect just one more cut this year, and two officials expect none. At the other end of the spectrum, one official expects the Fed to cut rates by another three-quarters of a point this year, suggesting another supersize reduction in either November or December.

All 19 officials expect rates to be lower at the end of next year than they are now. But their estimates of how much lower vary widely, from about 2.9 percent (two full percentage points below where they are after Wednesday’s action) to 4.1 percent (just three-quarters of a point below where they are now). There is an even wider range of views in 2026 and 2027.

Eventually, most officials expect interest rates to settle between 2.5 percent and 3.5 percent. That’s higher than in the decade before the pandemic, when the Fed’s target interest rate never topped 2.5 percent — suggesting we may not soon return to the era of ultralow rates that prevailed after the Great Recession.

Powell tries to make clear that the politics of cutting rates right before a presidential election is not something the Fed thinks about, even though Trump has said any move ahead of November would be political. “This really concentrates the mind,” he said. “We don’t put up any other filters. If you start doing that, I don’t know where you stop.”

Jim Tankersley

Jim Tankersley

No surprise that Powell was asked about the political optics of this decision. And no surprise his answer is, what we care about it doing the best thing for the American people and the economy.

Is the era of ultralow interest rates gone for good? Powell seems to think so. “We’re probably not going back to that era where there are trillions of dollars of sovereign bonds being issued at negative rates,” he said, adding: “My own sense is that we’re not going back to that.”

Powell is asked about whether he would be content if the economy continued to add around 100,000 jobs a month, and he responds that it depends on how many people are entering the labor market. The high rate of immigration in recent years has raised that so-called “breakeven rate,” which is the pace at which employers need to add jobs to prevent the unemployment rate from rising further — some have estimated it’s now about 175,000 jobs a month.

Powell is making very sure to emphasize that the job market is still strong today. He’s walking a tricky line here. There were some concerns coming into this press conference that investors would read a big rate cut today as a sign that the Fed was freaking out about the job market. Powell is pushing back on that with all of this confident talk.

It’s striking how many of the questions in the news conference so far have focused on the job market, rather than inflation. It’s another sign of how the narrative around the economy has shifted.

Talmon Joseph Smith

Powell mentioned that average wage growth for workers is still somewhat above what most officials see as being “consistent with price stability.” One of the things I’ll be watching in the next several months, though, is whether inflation continues to slowly cool even as wage growth remains strong . That may be viewed as a pleasant surprise .

Seema Shah, chief global strategist at Principal Asset Management, said markets “can and should only celebrate today’s move – and will continue to celebrate over coming months.” The S&P 500 hovered near its record high this afternoon, and the index is now up roughly 0.5 percent as Powell speaks.

Powell notes that layoffs are still low. But as I explained in a story last week , low layoffs don’t necessarily indicate a healthy labor market. It is the rate of hiring, more than the rate of layoffs, that often drives fluctuations in unemployment.

Powell is leaning into the argument that a strong labor market is a good time to cut rates. “There is thinking that the time to support the labor market is when it’s strong, and not when you begin to see the layoffs,” he said, noting that initial claims for unemployment insurance are pretty flat.

Powell acknowledges that the labor market is, by many measures, weaker than it was immediately before the pandemic. But he pushes back against suggestions the labor market is weak, arguing that it is more akin to its state in 2017 or 2018, which was strong, albeit not as strong as on the eve of the pandemic.

Powell notes that plenty of other central banks have already started cutting rates. “We’ve waited, and I think that patience has really paid dividends,” he said.
