Travellers Rest Public House
Traditional drinkers pub in between Chesterfield & Sheffield, serving up to 9 real ales plus 10 ciders & perries. Light bits of pork pies & cheese are available as bar snacks. Outdoor seating provides beautiful views of the Derbyshire countryside. Winner of numerous Dronfield CAMRA awards, including summer pub of the season 2013 & Dronfield CAMRA cider pub of the year 2013.

1 Review of Travellers Rest:
Kas 27th may 2017.
This place is one of our local haunts and we have never had to complain before now. We visited for a drink on the 24/05/2017 around 7pm. When leaving we had to mention to a woman who was blocking the car park entrance/disabled car parking space with her car that we wouldn't be able to get our car out, to which she replied "I work here", so in other words you can take a running jump. She was very nasty in her approach to us. Not seen her before & don't want to come across her again. Can not understand why the Travellers Rest would employ someone like this, as all other employees are very pleasant.

Traditional pub
It was quiet as we went in midweek afternoon so got the nice cosy window table . Between 2 of us we shared the huntsman pork pie at 拢8.75 topped with chicken & stuffing which was big and delicious with this we had the melted cheese hot pot with a toasted ciabatta at 拢6.95 again delicious. We was stuffed after this but it was nice to have something different than the normal pub food offering in this nice country pub.
Came here based on recommendation. Fabulous setting, good old fashioned pub,quirky due to the vast choice of cheese. We all had pies, with mash and peas. Only the homity pie got a positive comment. Portion size is small, probably reflected in the price, but the steak and the chicken & leek pies were very bland, no seasoning, and not helped by the lumpy mash. I would rather pay double the price for something tasty and filling. Decided to fill up with a dessert, went to order only to be told there would be a 30mins wait! For two apple crumbles & custard? Really? Most customers seemed to be eating pork pie and cheese platters, they did appear very good portions and arguably what the pub is most famous for.
What a gem of a find!!!!! Absolutely wonderful country pub with fantastic views!!! We had the 3 cheese platter with a large Huntsman pork pie. You are spoilt for choice with the vast range of delicious cheese's all amazing. The platter was huge and the two of us struggled to eat it all. "Not a problem," said the lovely waitress, " you can take it home with you if you wish?" Winner, winner, fabulous 'cheese n pork pie dinner!!!". Can't wait to return.
Lovely pub with great food. I appreciate this is a dog friendly pub which is fine. The problem is we witnessed several bar staff serving food and drinks petting and stroking dogs then going behind the bar serving drinks not having washed their hands. Surely this lack of hygiene is unacceptable and reflects badly on the pub and makes you wonder what happens behind the scenes as obviously staff pay no importance to washing of hands. After covid I find this very surprising.
Excellent menu, spoilt for choice. Great selection of ales.Served by very welcoming staff and spoke with friendly locals. The pub is in a great location and the decor is warm and comforting
This is one of our new favourite places to eat out. We affectionately have nicknamed the cheese pub to our friends because the choice of cheese in unreal! We have tried several items from here such as pie, cheese boards and melting pots. All the food has been so tasty and really great value. Highly recommend!

Cheese board at the Travellers rest
Wow this is the best pork pie and cheese board anywhere in derbyshire, loads of cheeses to choose from an local suppliers of pork pie , just yummy and will definatey recommend to all x
It may be grim and cold outside but their hearty beef stews and spicy goulash will certainly bring a warmth to you.
Been to this pub a couple of times. Food is excellent, great portions which you can take home if you can鈥檛 manage it all. Beers are good and service is friendly and good.
Just arrived yesterday to the area for a short break, we drove past the pub on arrival and said it looked a nice cosy pub and we would give it a try, we ended up going yesterday tea time the food was amazing we had a beef stew and a goulash which were served in a big bread cob they were packed with meat. It is a busy place and full of lovely friendly people! Wish it was nearer home will definitely return before we leave.
Just been up to the travellers for the mezze night with friends. Absolutely amazing food. Huge portions and well presented. Even took home a doggy bag! Can't recommend highly enough!
Lovely old fashioned pub. Great selection of beer and cider. Dog friendly pub. As everyone sayes the cheese and pork pie platters are awesome. Very generous portions at a great price. Outstanding place for food
