To much scams…please READ!

So whenever I use this app/ Safari it get these trackers and scammers to get my location and this is making me nervous. I installed ad blocker I think it’s called and I blocked some trackers which made me feel better. Every time you search something you usually get a scam or tracker. I do not like when people track me down. I rarely use this app because of the scams and risks. I think it is an OK app in general because it’s the people making these small BAD websites. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it could use work but it is pretty much like google. I use google way more because I feel like it is much safer than safari. I could be wrong… Safari could use some work with all these BAD websites. Can you block these bad websites? I would love to block these websites cause they are scary. Also watch out for nine anime/ 9anime websites… I searched up 9anime on safari and clicked a link. It looked safe but then these inappropriate pop ups kept coming. I immediately got off. I checked my ‘ How much trackers we have prevented’ or whatever it’s called it said that it had prevented 14 trackers from getting my IP address. This was good and bad news. I’m glad that safari and google can prevent these trackers but it is bad because this is dangerous. BE CAREFUL ON SAFARI!!!

Your Underrated Prince, Safari

In my humble opinion, Safari is the underrated king among multiple web browsers on the market. I was a PC devotee from ‘95 to ‘16, since then, it’s been all Tim Cook 🍎 all the time. My only regret is not purchasing a smartphone back in ‘07 from Steve Jobs. Presently, I own an iPhone 6s Plus in rose gold (2016), iPad Mini (2016), iPad Pro (2019) & MacBook (2018) in rose gold with matching Beats By Dre headphones. All four are set up with Safari, not Chrome, TOR, Brave, Edge, or DDGo. I love the ability to quickly save favorites, add to reading list & share content to other platforms. My favorites are alphabetized for quick reference & the reading list keeps all articles & pages in chronological order for quick recall. Also, I learned Safari quickly because it’s extremely user friendly. The browser helped my navigation of Apple when switching from PC. I’ll admit, learning MacBook isn’t easy, but, Safari keeps things familiar for me on the desktop. When lost, just go back to Safari & start over. It’s surprising no one in tech media mentions Safari more often as a go to source for navigating the internet. Chrome is the reigning king of, Land Of Browsers, without an heir apparent. I nominate Safari as the prince with future king potential. Citizens of Land Of Browsers don’t like their chrome-plated dirty laundry aired, sold or tracked.

I have been using this for years and had no problems with it. I ran over my phone with my lawn mower and was without my phone for over a year due to having to fight with the insurance company. However when I finally got a lawyer involved the insurance company finally replaced it for me. I DID not lose anything and I mean anything. I like the cards better because they are easier to clear out. You have to back everything up to your cloud every day or every other day so that you don’t have to worry about losing anything. As I always make sure that I back everything up just in case. It is not apples fault if you lose your any of your information it is yours for not backing up your phone to your cloud. So most of the people who write bad reviews either don’t back up or they just don’t or they just don’t care. Apple doesn’t charge a lot to add more space to your cloud so there is no reason why you can’t back you things. This is better than anything that google has. By far. If you want your information used by third parties then use google’s and quit complaining. You can change your browser in safari so that you don’t have to use them get with it you bad reviews and learn how to use safari.

Keeping safari updated, how to update safari in system preferences.

It's a good practice to keep your web browser constantly updated for security reasons , but Apple Safari on Mac doesn't have an update button. Here's how to keep Safari updated.

Every year, Apple releases new features for Safari, and you usually install them without realizing it because they're linked to macOS updates that you get in System Preferences.

But because Safari is a browser, Apple often lets you update to the latest version of Safari without installing the next big OS release. For example, while Safari 14.0 came bundled in macOS Big Sur , macOS Catalina users can still update to it. Apple also provides regular security updates to older versions of Safari, which is the main reason why  we recommend that you keep it updated .

To update Safari, you'll have to use the Software Update feature in System Preferences. To get there, click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen.

In the menu that appears, choose the "System Preferences" option.

In System Preferences, click "Software Update."

The Software Update panel will show you whether there are any software updates available for your Mac. If there are, you have two choices.

If you want to install the latest operating system along with the latest version of Safari, just click the "Update Now" button and follow the process.

If you only want to install an update to Safari, click "More Info" under the list of available updates to see a detailed list of all updates.

After clicking "More info," a panel will appear listing the updates available for your Mac. Make sure that the "Safari" update is selected, and uncheck "macOS" if you don't want to install a system update along with it. When you're ready, click "Install Now."

After a while, the Safari update will be installed on your Mac.

Once the update process is finished, you can safely quit the System Preferences app using the red Close button in the corner of the window.

Since this process is somewhat confusing and non-obvious, we recommend enabling the auto-update feature to keep Safari and your Mac updated. Good luck!

Apple has released the latest version of its Safari browser for macOS Catalina and High Sierra, ahead of the release of Big Sur later this year. Safari 14 improves the browser’s tabs, adds a new privacy report feature, and offers new customization options for your start page. You can download it by heading to System Preferences app and clicking “Software Update.” 

One of the key improvements that’s coming with the latest version of Safari is improved tab management . The tabs themselves have been redesigned to be more space-efficient, display website favicons by default, and show a preview of each tab while hovering your mouse over them. There’s a new start page which you can customize with your own backgrounds and links, and a Privacy Report that highlights any cross-site trackers that the browser is blocking. Oh, and this version of the browser also removes support for Adobe Flash.

Some new Safari features will require macOS Big Sur to run, and aren’t available if you’re updating Safari on an older version of the operating system, 9to5Mac reports . These include support for 4K HDR video, and the browser’s built-in translation feature.

Yesterday saw the release of a swathe of Apple operating system updates , including iOS 14 for iPhones, iPadOS 14 for iPads, tvOS 14 for the Apple TV, and watchOS 7 for Apple Watches. You’ve still got a little longer to wait to update your Mac, but at least you can grab the new browser now.

Update Safari on macOS

This guide will step you through the process of updating the Safari web browser on macOS.

Do you need to know what version of Safari do I have?

macOS automatically looks for updates

macOS will regularly & automatically check for updates to Safari (and any other software you have installed via the App Store) and prompt you to install updates as they are found.

It should prompt you in the top-right hand corner of the screen when updates are found. If you want to manually check for updates and install them, follow these steps:

Open the App Store

Click the Apple menu icon in the top left-hand corner of your screen.

The system menu will appear, click the " App Store... " item.

This starts the App Store application.

Go to the Updates tab

Along the top of the App Store window which has just opened will be several tabs (or buttons). Click the one on the far-right named Updates

Find and activate the Safari update

The Update screen may look different to the one in the screenshots. Version numbers shown here are examples and may change depending on what is considered the latest version...

On this screen, the App Store will show you all of the updates which are available to you.

It will bundle all of the System Applications (eg iTunes, Safari, Security Updates etc) which have updates available into one main "Software Update" item - shown in the following image.

If you click the UPDATE button, it will install all of those updates in one go. Notice that in some cases this may also require you to restart your computer.

If you click the UPDATE ALL button, it will install all of the System Application updates, as well as any Third Party updates - you may be required to restart with this option as well.

It is generally a good idea to install all of the available updates, but be aware: this may change how some of your software functions in the future. You should always have a backup of your system before you install System Updates.

Upgrading just Safari

If you want to upgrade just Safari and install none of the other available updates, click the blue " More " link; this will expand the System Applications, allowing you to pick and choose which updates to install.

Choose which update/s to install by clicking either the Update or Update all button.

App Store will now update Safari on macOS

The latest version of Safari available for your system will download and install itself. This may take a few minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection.

You can see the blue progress bar showing how much of the installation has occured.

Safari is now up to date

Safari is now shown in the Updates installed in the Last 30 Days section of the App Store Updates.

If you chose to also install other App updates, these should be included there as well.

Congratulations, you have now ensured that your copy of Safari is up to date. Confirm this by using our page to check if your web browser is up to date .

Updating in the future

In normal circumstances, the App Store will continue to check for updates and prompt you to install them. If for some reason App Store wasn't able to update Safari, please speak to your IT Support team for further help.

Upgrading to Safari 17.4.1 not working

I am using Monterey 12.7.5, and I want to upgrade from Safari 15.6.1 to 17.4.1. When I go to software update, it tells me that a new version of Safari is available. I have tried to "update now" three times after the usually restarting etc, and the download seems to download, but Safari seems stuck on 15.6.1, and I don't see a new Safari in Finder (meaning today's date).

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there, turn off your Mac and start it in safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support . Installing the Safari update might work better in this mode. Restart the Mac in normal mode afterwards.

By the way, the latest version of Safari is 17.5. This is the version the update will install.

I’m not sure what the issue could be. If you are using an antivirus or optimizing software, deactivate them. I doubt that it would help if safe mode didn’t help, though.

Another long shot would be to reinstall macOS first before upgrading Safari: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support .

In Safari, you can export the bookmarks (the article also includes a section to export bookmarks despite the title): Import bookmarks, history, and passwords in Safari on Mac - Apple Support . Then in the other browser, import them. The procedure might vary between browsers. An online search for a particular browser will tell you how.

For information, I installed Safari 17.5 on May 16 and this is also the date I see in Finder in the Applications folder. So you should also expect the date to be updated on your side.

Click on > About This Mac > System Report, go to Software > Installations, sort by date descending and see if you see any entry for Safari. I doubt you'll see any but I want to make sure.

Are you sure you were able to start your Mac in safe mode? A common mistake is to press the shift key and release it as soon as one sees the progress bar. You must keep on pressing the shift key until you see the password screen. This can take several minutes. The password field should also appear with a darker background.

If you’re unsure whether your Mac started up in safe mode, you can use the System Information app to check the mode:

• On your Mac, choose  > About This Mac.
• Click System Report.
• In the System Information app, select Software in the sidebar.
• In the System Software Overview, look at the value listed next to the item labeled Boot Mode.
• Safe:  The Mac is using safe mode.
• Normal:  The Mac is not using safe mode.

I made sure I was in Safe mode both times I tried that by checking "System Software Overview". I agree, I was surprised how long I needed to hold the shift key down, but I hung in there.

Thanks again, but that didn't work either. It's pretty frustrating because my bank won't let me do on-line banking without a new version of Safari.

I actually did reinstall the macOS three days ago, because when I was doing a Monterey upgrade it failed in the middle of it, and I was forced to do a re-install, for the first time ever.

Is there a way to just download the new version as a package and then install it?

The grey rectangle dialog box acts like it is working, and downloading, but very quickly switched to "Your Mac OS is up to date". You never get the sense that it does anything after the download. And the Safari file in Finder is from May 2nd. One would think that as of May 2nd I'd be at a higher version that 15.6.1?

Hello, now I’m just as puzzled as you are. It’s as if you had 2 versions of Safari on your Mac. I don’t think it’s possible, though. Yet in Finder, do a search for “Safari.”

Another puzzling thing is that you never had Safari 16 or earlier versions of Safari 17 installed. Your Mac is somehow stuck with Safari 15. Can you check the exact year of your version of Safari in Finder. I suspect it’s not 2024.

I’m not sure what to recommend at this stage. The easiest option would be to install another web browser such as Firefox, so that you can access your bank website. The more involved option would be to backup the Mac, wipe it (both system and data volumes), reinstall macOS and restore the backup.

Thanks for your help. The date of Safari in Finder is May 2nd, 2024. I was actually out of the country at that time, and the iMAC was powered off.

As long as I can import all my bookmarks to another browser, I am far more likely to do that than whip everything clean.

Apple’s AI plans for the iPhone just leaked. Here’s everything we know

A pple is the only major name in the world of Big Tech that hasn’t made its ambitious AI plans public yet. But that will change in a few weeks, with a focus on reimagining the iPhone experience. Bloomberg , citing internal sources, has detailed how Apple plans to integrate generative AI experiences with iOS 18, the next major build of its iPhone operating system.

The company plans to push new AI-powered capabilities not just in such in-house apps as Safari and Maps, but also in experiences like the notification system and a supercharged Spotlight search. Notably, Apple will push the bulk of AI processing to the iPhone’s silicon, and only a minor portion of it will be pushed to the cloud.

The likes of Google have been marketing processing as being on-device, allowing the Gemini Nano model to run natively on the Tensor silicon inside the Google Pixel 8 series phones for tasks like summarization, transcription, and smart reply. And it appears that Apple’s new AI tricks won’t stray too far off from what Google has showcased for Android phones.

Per the report, the AI push by Apple will open the doors for capabilities like transcription of voice memos, mirroring what Google has served up with its excellent Recorder app. Moreover, Apple will also leverage AI for media editing, a trick that is already available under banners like Magic Eraser and AI Unblur on Android phones via the Google Photos app.

The company is also said to be improving Spotlight’s capabilities while also enhancing the Safari web search experience. But the most notable upgrade will be to Siri, which is miles behind Google Assistant, especially in its new Gemini era.

“The Siri personal assistant will get an upgrade as well, with more natural-sounding interactions based on Apple’s own large language models,” says the Bloomberg report. Notably, Apple will lift the Siri experience not just on iPhones, but will also introduce a more powerful version for smartwatches.

On the fun side, Apple will leverage AI to let users create emojis on the fly, likely using the text-to-image pipeline. An automated version of this trick will also be available, one that dynamically reads the messages and suggests custom emojis tailored for the ongoing conversation.

Another notable upgrade that Apple has developed is related to notifications, something we haven’t seen so far. Using AI, the company aims to offer summarized recaps of notifications. This doesn’t just cover app notifications, call alerts, and messages, but will also include support for documents, news alerts, news articles, and webpages with different media formats.

A notable miss will be Apple’s own take on an AI chatbot, along the lines of Google’s Gemini or OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Instead, the company has reportedly partnered with OpenAI to create custom experiences built atop the GPT foundations. Interestingly, Apple is said to be still in talks with Google to offer Gemini tricks in a more meaningful way.

Apple is expected to announce its big AI plans at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 in just a couple of weeks.

Apple today released Safari 16, with the new update bringing some macOS Ventura features to macOS Monterey and macOS Big Sur while we wait for the October launch of the new operating system.

Safari 16 introduces new features, even faster performance, and improved security, such as: - Tab Group start pages let you add different background images and favorites for each Tab Group - Pinned tabs in Tab Groups enable you to pin frequently visited websites for each Tab Group - Tabs in the sidebar let you see a list view of your open tabs - Settings you've set for specific websites now sync across devices - Strong password editing lets you adjust strong passwords to meet website-specific requirements - Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices.

The update also addresses several WebKit vulnerabilities that could track users through web extensions, lead to arbitrary code execution, and lead to UI spoofing. None of these vulnerabilities were known to have been actively exploited, but it is still worth updating to the new browser to get the Safari 16 functions.

Honest question: why does Apple always provide older versions of macOS with the most recent Safari, but not any other app? Why the exception for Safari? They could just include it in a regular macOS update instead of separating it.

Reason for lack of extensions is the $100 a year cost for the Apple Developer Program. Chrome lets you publish with a one time $5 fee while the Edge, Firefox and Opera stores are free. But Apple has made it easy to convert a Chrome extension to a Safari one with a simple terminal command.

In the movie, which was filmed on location in Malta, Walker plays an American archeology professor who follows a lead to the Mediterranean island, where he meets Eva, a local beekeeper played by Margaret Clunie. They soon discover that the spot where a beehive is hiding may hold the clues to a local archaeological mystery.

"It's unlike any Hallmark movie I've done," says Walker, 44, who has starred in more than 25 movies for the network. "It's the closest thing to Indiana Jones meets a Hallmark movie. It's adventure all the way, fast-paced, we're on the road constantly, it's a treasure hunt. Also, then you add in the landscapes and the history."

Still, if you mess with bees, you might get the stinger (that is the phrase, right?) — and the bees in Malta, according to Walker, "are known to be feisty bees. They transplant these bees into different countries, especially Canada, because they can withstand the cold. They're very, very frisky, very fiery little bees."

He learned that the hard way on his first day on the film when he, his wife Cassandra, Clunie and some of the producers went to an apiary to meet with the woman who was to be the beekeeper on set and to see the hives.

"We all have our bee suits on, and they're showing us the honey and the bees and everything, and I decided I'm going to take my phone out of my suit and record this," Walker recalls. "I back up and turn my back, open up the zipper to my suit and of course, a bee flies into my suit. 

"I'm not too worried—I've been stung in the past—but I was like okay, it's just one bee, I'll try to blow it out. So I opened my suit a little bit wider and I start blowing to try to get the bee out and two more bees fly into my suit. So I got three bees in my suit at this point."

It gets worse: "Now they're flying all over my head," he continues. "They go into my hoodie and at this point I tell the beekeeper like, 'Hey, I got three bees in my suit.' We go down to the car where there's no bees and I take my suit off, and one bee is stuck in my hood and it stings me in the chin."

Luckily, Walker sports a beard for the movie, so fans won't see a welt (or makeup attempting to hide one). 

"From what I hear, people pay top dollar for these things these days," jokes Walker, who has launched a skincare company called SkinMason . "I really got my money's worth that day."

PEOPLE: How was filming in Malta? Had you ever been there before?

ANDREW WALKER: Never. I heard about it through Lacey Chabert , but it wasn't on my radar at all. She and Will Kemp shot their movie there, Dancing Detective . I was like, "One day, maybe I'll go there." But now that I've been, I couldn't imagine not visiting. It is an absolute gem of a place. They shot all the King's Landing stuff there from Game of Thrones , so it's castles and cliff edges looking out into the Mediterranean. This movie takes you all over Malta. We shot at basically every corner of that island.

You did A Safari Romance last year — you've been pretty lucky with the location movies lately.

I've been very, very lucky. I feel like I put my time in. I shot six movies in Winnipeg before I was given Safari !

This is Margaret Clunie's first Hallmark movie. Aside from the fact that she's British and appeared in a few episodes of the Star Wars series Andor , what do fans need to know about her?

She is incredible. Hopefully you'll be seeing a lot more of her in these Hallmark movies. I love the staple of incredible females that work for Hallmark, but it was so nice to see a new name coming in. These British actors, they're all classically trained. She is so adaptable and captivating, and she was ready to play. We were weathering all kinds of different weather patterns. We had lots of wind, her hair was all over the place, we had hot days, we had cold, cold mornings. She's such a talented actress and I just feel really fortunate that we were able to nab her up for this.

Tell me about SkinMason. How did that come about?

The bane of my end of my day is washing my face, taking soap and water or some sort of cleanser, having to wet my face and then do some sort of routine. That's too many steps. My wife always yells at me for using too much of her $200 serums, so I thought, "This is great because I'm the consumer." [My partner and friend, Dr. Hussein Kanji, and I] took a year and a half and met with different formulators, and we came across this serum and mild acid exfoliating pad formula. These pads have a special peptide... Both formulas are patented, and the peptide actually eliminates a bacteria that forms acne.

Basically, it's just a two-step system and it's super simple. Our two pillars are simplicity and efficacy, and we've had some really great success. I've been using it now for almost a year, and it's been great. And we officially launch in June.

Is there anything you can share about your next Curious Caterer movie with Nikki DeLoach?

I haven't read the script yet. I know we're shooting another Curious Caterer. I know we're shooting potentially a few more because of the [viewership] numbers on this last one. Every one, for that matter. It's been such a dream — and Nikki manifested this all. It's been a wild ride and I just feel so privileged and grateful that I'm able to do this with her, with arguably one of the best, kindest human beings I know.

And what about the Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel, Three Wiser Men and a Boy ?

This one is going to be — yes, I'll say it — I think this one is going to be better than the first one.
