sacred scotland tour

After lunch we walk in silence through the Rosemarkie Fairy Glen to a pool and waterfall. In times gone by, locals say that children of the village decorated the pool with flowers as a way of thanking the fairies for keeping the water supply clean.

In the video below, you’ll see the glen and hear one of our spiritual pilgrims describing her experience:

The further up the path I walked, the more it spoke to me. There were no other human voices, so by the time I arrived at the fairy pool with its water sprites leaping over the boulders, I was hooked, I was there!

So, after just one day in this timeless land, the energy of the enchanted landscapes and sacred sites of Scotland will be working their magic on you.

Joining Jamie and Linda on the Scotland tour was a real pleasure for me energetically and spiritually. Linda’s profound knowledge of the Tarot is amazing and Jamie’s knowledge of the spiritual side of life is profound. It was lovely to spend time and share experiences with like-minded pilgrims . .. Malliga, Australia

Jamie is a wonderful guide – what I especially like is the way he places you in just the right spot at the right time and then steps back, completely out of the way, and lets you find your own relationship to each sacred place. Journeying with like-minded souls in these truly magical places, is worth every minute. Go whenever you feel the need for something to shift in your life – you won’t be disappointed and you may find something you never expected! … Kim, USA

Jamie George , Director of Gothic Image Tours , has been taking spiritual pilgrims on tours for over 30 years. “It’s been an honour to journey with so many interesting and inspiring people, helping them tune in to the history, mystery and magic of ancient sacred places, where every site has a story to tell. I imagine myself coming there for the first time, and if you put yourself in that position, all kinds of things can open up. For me, it’s a dance between memory and revelation. Some of the most memorable times are those when we’re just having fun. You find yourself laughing and joking because you’re opening up, you’re becoming much more at one with yourself and the land. I’ve had the pleasure of organising this journey many times over the years and look forward to warmly welcoming you to this magical land.”

Helen and Mark Woodsford-Dean

Helen and Mark live on Mainland Orkney, where, through their company Spiritual Orkney , they offer a range of sacred and spiritual services to visitors, guests, seekers and pilgrims, as well as to local communities. “We are the Scottish Pagan Federation (SPF) Local Organisers for Orkney and are active members of an interfaith dialogue group here,” says Helen. “We facilitate open rituals for the eight major Pagan festivals at The Ring of Brodgar, all of which are open to anyone with a warm heart and open mind.”

Helen is an experienced archaeologist and teacher, as well as a published author. Mark’s background is a combination of Druidry and shamanism. He is currently undertaking training through the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids , at Druid grade, and Shamanic training with Twobirds at Anam Cara, Inverness.  He has also trained with the Scandinavian Centre for Shamanic Studies. Mark is qualified as an arborist, health care professional and archaeologist. Helen and Mark join the Sacred Scotland tour on Orkney.

Kate and Corwen

Kate and Corwen are musicians and instrument makers who explore the sound world of our Ancestors. Their workshops cover various folk customs including Mumming, Guising, Wassailing, Lent Crocking, Country Dance and more. At a musical soiree at our hotel on Orkney, they entertain us with Viking, Saxon and Medieval music. For more information visit their Ancient Music Ancient Instruments website.

Jan Sutch Pickard

Jan is a published poet who delights in the music of poetry, from hearing it recited with passion, as a child, to learning it by heart and sharing it with her own children. She grew up listening to family legends from two grandmothers, while both parents relished and recited poetry. An early experience was telling stories to her six siblings, and together they made up and performed plays.

Jan is our guest on the last evening on Iona. Her wide repertoire includes stories of Saint Columba to tales of the Clearances and traditional tales of Iona where she lived and worked for six years. During this time, she helped to create a safe and welcoming place where storytelling played a vital role. She was also Warden of the Abbey before moving to the village of Bunessan on the nearby island of Mull, which, of course, has its own traditional tales.

Standing Stones, Machrie Moor, Arran

Freelance Guide. Steeped in Scotland’s history, culture, landscape & folklore. Sensitive to the energetics of people & places.

“Our time with Neil Wakeling in Machrie Moor was phenomenal!  Neil’s intuitive relationship with earth energies created the space for a palpable, transformative experience. I look forward to more… Your work is brilliant and radiating from heart consciousness! Erina Cowan (Blue Sun Energetics)

Whether joining you just for a day or as part of a longer tour, I offer a unique combination of local knowledge of Scotland’s rich culture & landscape, with a deep energetic sensitivity which offers insight into our wonderful variety of ancient sites, and powerful places in Nature, and how they can interact with the modern visitor.

My knowledge and insight are not found in guidebooks but are a culmination of a lifetime of personal exploration and widespread study both at home and abroad incorporating both formal and experiential education with spiritual teachers and indigenous peoples, and offered with a light-hearted humour.

My whole focus is on raising consciousness here on Earth. Many of these special sites and places offer us ways to assist in our inner transformation.

Days Two and Three

Standing Stone

You'll get some time in An t-Òban to stock up on items not available in the remoteness of the islands then we will take to the ferry across the beautiful Firth of Lorn to the wild and unspoilt Isle of Mull for a scenic drive through the mountains. We will visit the home of the Chief of Clan Maclean, Duart Castle , where I am clan bard. Another short ferry ride takes us over to the holy isle of Iona where we will stay for the next three nights. This evening we will stroll to the ruined nunnery with its sheela-na-gig.

Iona Nunnery

You will learn about Iona's connection with the goddess and saint, Brighid, Brigit or Bride , and gather reeds to weave her crosses. Then we'll take a walk up the holy hill of Dun Ì to Tobar an Aois the Well of Ages, to bless them in the holy waters. This afternoon you can take an optional-extra guided tour of Iona Abbey , founded by St. Columba and lovingly restored by the Iona Community. In the evening we'll walk to a known faery hill . There will be alone-time while on Iona for journaling, integration of the pilgrimage learnings, or meditation.

Scotland's West Coast

Contemplating the Beauty

We get remote today as we journey into a place known in Gàidlig as The Long Crooked Glen of the Stones, one of Scotland's hidden gems (which is why I don't give it its map-name here) with a dense collection of sites spanning several thousand year along the glen's thirty mile length, including one of the world's great, ancient trees . We'll visit standing stones with stories around them; we'll hear Tales of the hero warriors Fionn MacCumhal, Ossian and their magical hunting hounds ; we'll hike up into an unmarked site of great power, hearing of David Cowan's work on ley lines and telluric energy ; we'll translate local place names to uncover the early Celtic Christian settlements in the Glen.

Contemplating the Beauty

"...the choice I made to go with you and to wait two years to do so WAS one of the best choices I have ever made. Thank you for showing me a Scotland that is rugged and soft and bold and quiet and haunting and welcoming. Thank you for taking us/me to heart and soul places by using our soles to get there. Thank you for your depth, your perception, your humor and your tolerance. Scotland without Scot would have been so very different. It is through your eyes that it/we/I came alive again, am refreshed again, am emblazoned to seek the passion of living again." Christine Yanitelli 2022.

Andrew Harvey, world-renowned religious scholar, acclaimed teacher and author of over 35 books, teams up with his friend Raven Sinclaire, sacred tour guide and teacher of ancient hermetic wisdom, to share their ancestral land with you. Over our two weeks together, we will explore Scotland's natural beauty, sacred sites, and historical wonders while expanding through wisdom teachings, meditations and group sharings. This is a journey to uncover the magic in the mystery of these times.

Day 1, 2, 3:

3 nights in Edinburgh:

This city is a gothic delight with loads of history, mystery and breathtaking beauty. We begin our journey with ease, gathering for a Meet & Greet in the hotel on the evening of our arrival day. The next morning, we will deepen into our experience as a group, circling up for sharing, intentions and guided meditation. After lunch, we'll enjoy a tour of Edinburgh's Old Town with master guide, Fiona Scott, then you'll have some time to explore before our first group dinner. Our days here will be a lovely mix of group activities and free time to choose your own destinations. On our departure day, we will take a short ride to the enigmatic Rosslyn Chapel and Glen, a truly sacred experience that is always a group favorite. While in Edinburgh, our hotel home will be Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile, with an abundance of museums, restaurants and historical treasures within easy walking distance.

Day 4, 5, 6:

3 nights in Oban

Nestled on the west coast and surrounded by miles of dramatic shores and beautiful countryside, the seaside town of Oban promises to delight. Called the 'Gateway to the Isles', during our time here we will ferry to the Isles of Iona and Mull. In Iona, often called the most spiritual island, we'll visit its famous abbey, the holy mountain of the druids, holy wells and St Columba’s Bay. In Mull, we will contemplate at the Standing Stones and connect with Nature at a beautiful beach, while tapping into this island's ancient magic. The hotel for our 3 night stay in Oban is The Royal.

Day 7, 8, 9:

3 Nights in Inverness

This city on the river is one of Scotland’s prettiest places and it’s a short coach ride for us to take in Loch Ness and hike to the magical Fairy Glen Falls. We will also visit Clava Cairns Stone Circle and explore an area castle as we breathe in this beautiful part of the Highlands. Free time in this lovely city will give you choices such as Inverness Castle, Cathedral, High Street church and cemetery, the iconic Leakey's Bookshop, River stroll and Botanic Gardens. From our cozy hotel, Lochardil House, we will also immerse into a day of teaching, sharing and spiritual exploration.

Day 10, 11, 12:

3 Nights in Dunkeld

With new awareness in our hearts, we travel on to the lovely village of Dunkeld which sits on the banks of the River Tay. This is a friendly small town favorite of past tour groups. From our home base in the peaceful city centre, we'll visit historic Dunkeld Cathedral and Birnam Wood (which inspired Macbeth), meander small villages, take in waterfall hikes, stroll the nearby Hermitage, enjoy world class music and spiritual teachings in a natural paradise.

Day 13: Final night back in Edinburgh

We'll take the short drive back to where we began and you'll have a bit of time for lunch, shopping or sightseeing in Edinburgh before we meet in the hotel for a private farewell dinner, and sharing circle of our sacred time together.
