Vibration Tour 2018, the summer tour of free concerts, was a success for Vibration Radio, a private French music radio station born in 1981. Four free concerts in the Center-Val de Loire region, provided an opportunity to bring together the artists of the moment, along with more than 72,000 people in the Center-Val de Loire region: Tours, Blois, Le Mans, Orléans, and Châteauroux. Different cities, different atmospheres, different artists such as Amir, Bob Sinclar, Boostee, Tal, Emmanuel Moire, Dadju, Kendji Girac, Soprano, Jeremy Frerot, Joyce Jonathan, Boulevard des Airs, Kungs and many others.
Behind the mixer we found Greg, front-of-house engineer who drove the sound system on RDNet and mixed the concert on a Yamaha CL5 console, assisted by Nico.b. On the monitoring side on stage, managed by Julien.S, there were 10 NX 15 SMA wedges and two 4PRO as side fills. All were mixed by Nicolas F. from a Yamaha TF5.

Radio Station Tours
Since 2008, Jennifer Waits has been visiting and reporting back on her radio station tours , complete with historical information and countless photos of station spaces. Think funky couches, shiny audio equipment, hand-written warning signs, sticker-covered cabinets, and shelves full of music.

As of October 19, 2023, she’s written field trip reports representing more than 173 visits to stations all over the United States and Ireland. Included in her radio station tours are high school radio stations, college radio stations, community radio stations, commercial radio stations, pop-up radio stations, unlicensed radio stations, and more.
On the occasion of her 100th tour report ( to Princeton University’s WPRB ) in 2016, we celebrated the field trip series on the Radio Survivor podcast and Jennifer shared some fun facts and a list of the first 99 tours . As we approached the 150th visit, it was a fitting time to create a proper archive on Radio Survivor, so that one can easily revisit a decade’s worth of reports. As always, you can also see the most recent station tours here and see a list of radio station tours in numerical order here .

Israel Vibration (formed in 1970) is a popular Jamaican roots reggae band that rose to prominence in the late 1970s and opened for the likes of Bob Marley and Dennis Brown, hailing from Kingston, Jamaica.
Originally formed of members Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Cecil “Skeleton” Spence, and Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig, the trio met whilst recovering from polio at the Mona Rehabilitation Clinic in Kingston. Prior to Israel Vibration’s formation, Spence made his television debut alongside the band Hot Lickers at the age of 12. Spence subsequently began making music with Craig, later seeking the musical talents of tailor, Bulgin. The trio funded their excursions by performing on the streets for change, strongly developing Israel Vibration’s confidence and live performance skills.
In 1975 the trio recorded the track “Bad Intention” at Channel One Studios, however failed to find an official release. Despite this, a year later Israel Vibration earned their big break when they received a grant from the Twelve Tribes of Israel branch of Rastafarai and subsequently issued their debut single “Why Worry”. The record earned significant radio play and led the group to open for the likes of Denis Brown, Inner Circle, and Bob Marley. Alongside producer Tommy Cowan, the band followed the release with the single “The Same Song” released on Top Ranking Records in 1977. The full-length of the same name followed the year after, as did the dub counterpart CD “Israel Tafari”, the success of which led Israel Vibration to sign with the EMI imprint Harvest.
The full-length “Unconquered People” arrived in 1980, followed a year later by the recording of “Why You So Craven” with iconic dancehall producer Junjo Lawes, however due to disagreements the band walked out on Lawes. Following an enthusiastically reviewed performance at 1982’s Reggae Sunsplash, with the domination of dancehall in Jamaica and greater medical provision, the trio moved to New York City, U.S.
The move, initially a disappointment, was made fruitful in 1987 when the band approached RAS Records’ man Doctor Dread, who signed the group to his roster. Israel Vibration’s first album since moving to the U.S. “Strength of My Life” features contributions from the Roots Radics and is largely regarded as a return to form for the trio. The group continued to craft their brand of roots reggae well into the 1990s, most notably on 1990’s “Praises”, “Dub Vibration” and “Israel Dub”, the 1992 live album “Vibes Alive”, 1993’s “IV”, and 1995’s “On the Rock”. A pair of albums followed before Israel Vibration’s Craig left the group to go solo and later released the full-length “Another Moses” in 1999. Undeterred by Craig’s departure, Spence and Bulgin continued to please their loyal fan base by issuing a prodigious eight albums over the next 15 years, cementing their position as icons of the roots reggae genre.
Live reviews
With a name like Israel Vibration, you wouldn't naturally think Jamaican origin reggae yet that is exactly what these three talented musicians create. Achieving huge success in the 70s with their own take on the genre of roots, the group has been releasing and playing live for the past 35 years.
Due to the three instrumentalists suffering from various health ailments, they are not relentless touring artists yet when they do take to the stage it feels as though they haven't been away. The crowd is 100% behind them throughout the show with sing alongs and groove alongs to the irresistible reggae vibes. The three musicians onstage seem to still enjoy playing live with their accompanying band as they run through some of the best selections of their dancehall discography. There are a couple of highlights in the form of 'Pay The Piper' which brings the sunshine and 'Red Eyes' which has the crowd singing along to the ageing chorus with a force to make the band smile broadly.

Murray tours WSU Native American health center during Spokane visit
Washington tribal leaders yesterday [Thursday] thanked U.S. Senator Patty Murray for securing money for a project aimed at improving the health of American Indian people.
During a stop at Washington State University Spokane, Murray toured the Center for Native American Health , which houses WSU’s Native American Health Sciences program. She met one-on-one with a small group of American Indian and Alaska Native medical students.
Then she saw the space that will benefit from the new $1.47 million appropriation Murray inserted into the federal building. That will allow WSU to create an Indigenous Health Simulation Center, which will include state-of-the-art exam spaces for medical students who want to learn the nuances of treating Native patients.
Later, during a roundtable discussion, a small group of tribal leaders talked about how the center will help instructors teach medical students how to properly care for Native patients.
“What’s awesome about this school is we can grow our and they’re going to learn how to talk to our people,” said Andy Joseph, Jr., a council member from the Colville Confederated Tribes.
Joseph says communication with Native patients is sometimes difficult if the patients don’t trust their providers.
“Do you teach them communication as well so they get people to talk?” Murray asked.
Yes, said WSU officials. They say the center will provide interested students with information about Native medicine and healing practices.
Stephen Kutz, a Cowlitz tribal leader who directs the health clinic for the Suquamish Tribe, says Native leaders hope the WSU program will lead to better, more culturally appropriate care for tribal patients, both in Washington and around the nation.
“What we’re doing here, if other people start replicating what we have,” he said.
“If they see it’s successful,” Murray interjected.
“If they see it’s successful, some of the people from here will go and work elsewhere and they will take that skill with them,” Kutz said.
One university official told Murray that WSU hopes to have its simulation center up and running within a year.
While in Spokane, Murray also visited Maddie’s Place , a nursery for infants who are exposed to dangerous drugs, such as heroin and fentanyl, in utero. The transitional care nursery provides babies with the care they need as their bodies withdraw from the toxic effects of the drugs. She visited with staff and volunteers who care for the babies and the mothers who live there and bond with their newborns.

Maggie Rogers takes a nostalgic Southwest road trip with 'Don't Forget Me'

Maggie Rogers says her new album, Don't Forget Me , is modeled on a Sunday afternoon driving record.
Singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers describes music as the "most sacred and most spiritual thing" she's ever been a part of. "Whether it's being in the crowd at a show at an early age, or being on stage with my band when we're all jamming or playing music together," she says, "that, to me, is the closest thing I've ever felt to something divine."
In 2021, burnt out from the intensity of her early career, Rogers considered quitting music entirely. Instead, she took a detour — to Harvard Divinity School. Her studies focused on public gatherings and the ethics of power in pop culture.
"My master's degree is in religion and public life," Rogers says. "This program that I went to was specifically for people who don't work in religion, who want a greater understanding of religion and the way it works in the world to be able to inform their non-religious life."
Rogers' latest album, Don't Forget Me , features songs written from the perspective of a 25-year-old woman who's leaving home and embarking on a road trip through the American Southwest.
"The album is sequenced in the order that I wrote the songs in," she says. "I was sort of writing [the songs] like scenes in a movie that takes place over, like, 36 hours, and has a very Thelma & Louise -esque ride to it."
Rogers says she always makes the album that she wants to hear. "Maybe that's selfish, or maybe that's just intuitive." She adds, laughing, "Or maybe that's the understanding that I'm going to play these songs a million times over the course of my lifetime."

Interview highlights
On performance as therapy
I'm always working through something energetically on stage, and I find performing to be a kind of resonant therapy. You think about your body as this big combination of living, breathing organs and singing. It's resonant. I mean, you send vibration through your body for two hours straight every day and you're going to knock some things loose.
On art as a vessel for nostalgia
I think about songwriting a lot as a form of archiving. I mean, obviously I'm a nostalgic person if my record is called Don't Forget Me . There's so much beauty in life, and so much detail, and so much memory, and I do worry about forgetting it all — or being able to, like, get my arms so full of detail that I don't drop anything. Putting it into my art feels like one way of being able to just keep holding it. It's really a part of who I am.
Maggie Rogers: Tiny Desk Concert
My dad always tells the story of the night I turned 5 — he found me sobbing. I was just completely overwhelmed at the fact that I would never be 4 again ... this idea of time, the way that it slips through your fingers and not being able to go back. The thing about being on stage is the second it's awesome and you're like, something is really happening here , it's gone, and you can't hold it. You can just be present in it and hope that you remember it.
On her songwriting process
Songwriting, to me, is like a word puzzle. I always have the melody and the layout of a song first; sometimes, certain vowel sounds or certain words will come with the melody. There is a sort of shape to that current: You inherently understand how many syllables and the shape of what should go there. So it's like doing building blocks and a crossword puzzle in the same breath.
On the viral video of Pharrell Williams hearing her demo "Alaska," and becoming a star overnight
It was really, really scary when it happened. I was incredibly overwhelmed. It was complicated because I got the job that I had trained for and that I'd always wanted – exactly in the moment when I needed a job. And yet, it was so deeply and wildly out of my control. It felt like something that was happening to me, even though it was something I had prepared for, like, a decade at that point.
Part of me wishes that I got to upload that song and present my artistic statement. But I think what's really special about that video is how unguarded I am, and Pharrell is. If it happened any other way, it wouldn't be what it is. And I feel actually really lucky that the version of me that got introduced to the world is and was the most authentic version of myself.
Do I wish that I brushed my hair and put on a real outfit? That's the thing that's sort of funny about it: When I suddenly became a pop star, I needed a lot of clothes — suddenly I needed colorful, glittery outfits. I was like, "What do you mean I can't wear my jeans and boots?"
On learning music production to get around gatekeepers
I was writing songs in high school, and I couldn't get the guys to play my arrangements. So I learned how to program. I learned how to play the songs by myself and create the arrangements for drums and bass and synth and all these things on the computer. And when I got to school and I could learn about engineering and software and production and microphones and drum technique, it became something that allowed me to protect my vision. They were tools that allowed me to get the thing that I heard in my head down onto paper. The democratization of music software and the way that the internet has changed the power that gatekeepers within the industry have is something that is really inspiring to me.
On writing the song "Light On" about grappling with success
The sort of wild thing about fame or success is that it lifts you up, but also it is incredibly lonely. And I was having this experience that was everything I'd ever wished for, yet felt kind of uncreative. I really missed my friends and missed my life, and I just didn't know how to handle all of it. I had this Cinderella story [and it] felt really vulnerable to sort of say, I'm struggling with this. It doesn't feel as amazing as it looks. And that doesn't change how much I'm grateful for it. There is a complicated nuance in the middle.
It was really scary when I had to say all these things for the first time. But now it's been replaced by all of the joy that I've felt as a result of that decision, to stay in it and to find a way to make this thing feel like me.

2024 Charles Schwab Challenge live stream, watch online, TV schedule, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage
Players take on a revamped colonial country club this week on the pga tour.
An annual stop on the PGA Tour calendar has received a makeover since players last saw it. Colonial Country Club once again played host to the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge and Scottie Scheffler trails Davis Riley heading into Sunday's final round of this year's event which featured the debut of its newly renovated layout for players to tackle.
Scheffler, the world No. 1 returns to Colonial following a tumultuous week in Louisville that ultimately resulted in another top-10 finish. While Scheffler was unable to continue his quest for the calendar grand slam, he did continue his stretch of top-10 finishes, which now stands at nine straight.
During this run, the Texan has collected four trophies and will look to make it five at a golf course that has treated him kindly in the past with a third-place finish a year ago and a playoff loss to Sam Burns in 2022. Another player who has fond memories of Colonial is Scheffler's fellow Texas Longhorn, Jordan Spieth.
A winner at this golf course nearly a decade ago, Spieth has made it a habit at contending at this place with eight top-10 finishes to his name. While his form is in question, Spieth's love for the property is not. Both Scheffler and Spieth are joined in the field by a number of their U.S. Ryder Cup teammates, including Collin Morikawa, Max Homa and Brian Harman.
Tony Finau, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim, Si Woo Kim and Min Woo Lee round out a strong crop of players teeing it up in this full-field event. With the summer months fast approaching, the Charles Schwab Challenge presents a great opportunity for players to launch into the meat of the PGA Tour season with a hot start in Texas.
