A top destination in Niagara-on-the-Lake for wine tours and tastings, Peller Estates should also be on your list for a bite to eat. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner, each of their dishes is thoughtfully paired with a vintage from the Peller Estates cellar. Yes, even dessert!

These delectable flavours are crafted by Chef Jason Parsons who has over two decades of experience in the culinary world. Peller Estates is proudly FeastON certified with 50% of the ingredients used sourced from the province and 98% of the ingredients sourced from Canada. Many of the items actually come from the Peller Estates kitchen “garden” which has now expanded to a 10-acre farm just down the road from the winery. It really doesn’t get much fresher than that!

In working with so many local products, this Niagara-on-the-Lake winery restaurant’s menu is updated frequently, reflecting the availability of produce. You’ll also find a variety of dishes on the menu from low-key, pub-style fare like poutine (with Cabernet gravy mind you) to more upscale eats like their lobster linguini. Rumour has it that you need to save room for desserts like their double chocolate cake, so don’t forget!

What really sets Peller Estates apart though is that they firmly believe food and wine go hand in hand. Winemaker Katie Dickieson works with Chef Parsons to create specific flavour profiles for their wines while Chef Parsons creates food pairings you just won’t find anywhere else. I’d say this is a big reason why Peller Estates’ restaurant is considered one of the best restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Trius Winery Restaurant

Trius Winery is the first to be recognized internationally as their 1991 Trius Red vintage took the title of Best Red Wine in the World. While it’s been three decades since then, Trius continues to innovate both in the winery and on your plate.

Chef Frank Dodd is the brains behind the menu . A skilled chef who cultivated his culinary skills at some of Britain’s finest inns, he has found his home at Trius. He’s always looking to transform the every day into something special. Take the Trius Burger for example as many wonder how a simple burger can taste so good. It’s just a matter of going the extra mile.

If you really want to experience this, check out their Black Glass Dinner. Starting with a guided tasting, you’ll enjoy a four-course meal using seasonal ingredients. The Restaurant at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery

A staple of the Niagara-on-the-Lake wine scene, the restaurant at Ravine Vineyard sits on a family-owned farm. It’s been in the Lowrey Family for five generations, since the 1860s. They’ve always been very cognisant of their impact on the land which is why they practice biodynamic and organic farming – one of the few wineries to do so in the Niagara Region.

They’re one of the few winery restaurants that bake their bread in-house, grow their own organic vegetables and raise their own pigs. Not only will you enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables in-season from the Ravine Vineyard garden, but Chef Proprietor Paul Harber and Chef Ross Midgley also preserve a number of these items to ensure “going local” isn’t just for what’s in season.

While you can enjoy the delicious eats from their menu year-round, Ravine Vineyard Restaurant is best known for its seasonal wood-fired pizza oven. Enjoy gorgeous views of the vines as you sip on one of their delightful vintages while you wait for your pizza. Walk through the double doors of their extravagant 16th Century Italian Renaissance-style building to find the tasting room and the winery’s restaurant, Kitchen 76. This Italian-inspired bistro features seasonal items inspired by their family’s favourite recipes. Chef Justin Lesso insists on sourcing their meats and fish from Niagara producers to ensure the freshest quality possible. Enjoy a taste of Siciliy here in Niagara with their Arancini (Melissa’s favourite) or try the flavours of Venice with the Baccala Mantecato (Angela’s favourite). The Farmhouse Cafe at Caroline Cellars

Caroline Cellars is four generations in the making, spanning both Germany and Canada. Their grapes sourced from not one but two farms in Niagara-on-the-Lake. You won’t find their vintages in the LCBO or anywhere else so you’ll need to pop by for a tasting… and a bite to eat!

The team at the Farmhouse Cafe make as many of their menu items as they can in-house, sourcing as many ingredients as possible from the local farming community in Niagara. On-site, you’ll find a gorgeous garden where Rick and Frieda still grow their famous tomatoes along with a number of other items including herbs and vegetables. While it’s not uncommon to see German dishes like schnitzel or spaetzle on the menu , they have a wide variety of dishes to please every palate.

OLiV Tasting Room & Restaurant at Strewn Winery

Located in a repurposed cannery from the 1940s, Strewn Winery has evolved into a popular wine country destination in Niagara. Utilizing grapes from their own vines as well as 16 additional local growers, Strewn has been making their remarkable wines for almost 25 years now. Stop in for a tasting and a tour or consider staying to enjoy a  meal in their beautiful restaurant overlooking Four Mile Creek.

Do you often have a desire to try multiple dishes? If so, you need to plan a visit to OLiV at Strewn Winery. Chef Alex Mahumuni utilizes Strewn’s famous balsamic vinegars and extra virgin olive oils in every seasonal menu. The unique flavours of these creations elevate each and every dish. Whiskey Bar Patio at Wayne Gretzky Estates

Hockey fans will recognize this name and it alone may entice you to visit but there are many more reasons to plan a trip to Wayne Gretzky Estates than just ‘The Great One’! It’s the first combined winery and distillery in Ontario and it offers unique attractions like their hockey rink in the winter months, making it a great spot to spend an afternoon enjoying Niagara’s wine country.

If you’re travelling with any non-wine drinkers, Wayne Gretzky Estates is a great spot to visit as you can enjoy tasting their whiskeys as well as their beers. Just remember to indulge responsibly!

Chef Desharnais is the brains behind the Whiskey Bar Patio menu , offering delicious comfort foods and a number of cheese and charcuterie boards. He’s all about farm-to-table flavours that are sure to satisfy your palette.

One thing to note is that reservations are not available and it’s a first-come, first-served. It’s not uncommon to struggle to find seating, especially on weekends in the summer months.

BarrelHead at Pillitteri Estates

Soak up the sunshine and enjoy a bite to eat at BarrelHead, Pillitteri Estates’ outdoor restaurant. Specializing in wood-fired pizza, Chef Michael Zappitelli serves up traditional Italian classics and some savoury pies with a twist. And yes, they do offer gluten-free dough! All of the ingredients used are sustainably farmed and sourced locally to ensure the best quality possible.

Short Hills Kitchen at Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery

Some of the first grapes in Canada were planted where you’ll now find the Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery. With family ties dating back to the 1770s, this winery is six generations in the making! As one of six wineries in Ontario to be certified as following sustainable winemaking practices in all aspects of production, they go the extra mile to not only ensure great wine but that plants, helpful insects, animals and people will continue to thrive for generations to come.

In the summer months, enjoy a “localicious” lunch from the Short Hills Kitchen. You’ll be treated to gorgeous views of the vineyards from the patio. Envelop yourself in the al fresco atmosphere as your taste buds are treated to Chef Erik Peacock’s delightful eats. Peninsula Ridge Estate Winery – The Restaurant at Peninsula Ridge offers an elevated yet casual dining experience as you enjoy your meal inside a historic “Queen Anne Revival” Victorian mansion located on the Beamsville Bench. Enjoy seasonal eats that pair perfectly with their wines and tastes even better when enjoyed on their outdoor patio.

Westcott Vineyards – Located in Jordon Station, Wescott Vineyards has two locations in Niagara: their “Home Farm” located in the Vinemont Ridge appellation and their Butlers’ Grant Vineyards within the Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation. This allows them to harness the strengths of two distinct areas in Niagara! They utilize only local ingredients with their menu with many sourced straight from their own gardens and supplemented by neighbouring farms in the region.

Vineland Estates Winery Restaurant – Enjoy a wide variety of menu items from burgers to pasta in the beautifully renovated 1845 farmhouse or on the newly upgraded deck outside overlooking the vineyards.

Things to Do in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Chances are you didn’t head all the way to wine country just to eat at a winery’s restaurant and if you did, that’s totally cool by us. Just in case you’re looking for more points of interest, here are some of the great things to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the surrounding area!

• Take some time to explore the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake proper. Queen Street is adorably picturesque and will have you feeling as though you’ve been transported into the middle of a Hallmark movie set. Be sure to grab a drink from one of the local coffee shops for your stroll !
• Enjoy a drive along the beautiful Niagara Parkway towards Niagara Falls. There are a number of places to park along it to get out and stretch your legs along the paved path parallel to the road. It’s perfect for cycling too and definitely one of the top things to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake !
• Niagara-on-the-Lake played a pivotal role in a number of famous battles, including the War of 1812. Visit one of the national historic sites to learn about this history and take in some of the brilliant views of the area.
• Explore the gorgeous grounds of Queenston Heights Park just 15 minutes south of town where you find beautiful statues, the start of Ontario’s famous Bruce Trail and some great walking trails perfect for an afternoon stroll.
• As one of the oldest towns in Ontario (and even the country!), there are certainly some ghastly fellows that have left their mark on Niagara. Hop on a Niagara-on-the-Lake ghost tour to hear all about the ghouls that go bump in the night.

After the private winery tour, we drive you to the quaint town of Niagara-On-The-Lake. You will have free time to have lunch & walk around the quaint town of Niagara-On-The-Lake. There's something about this town that makes you want to linger. Although it's hard to describe, you'll feel it when you first set foot onto its historic streets. The Heritage District in Niagara-on-the-Lake is made for walking, with its boutique shops, cast-iron planters bursting with flowers, and horse-drawn carriages transporting riders to another time and place. Note: The price of the lunch is not included in the tour price.

To change or cancel your Winery Tour please call or email us. Customers will receive a FULL REFUND if they call at least 24 hours ahead to cancel. If you reschedule a tour, the cancellation policy is applied based on the original purchase time and original start date of the experience.

If a Winery Tour is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance NO REFUND will be provided.

• You are responsible for arriving on time at your pickup location. NO REFUND will be provided if your tour is missed (No Show). ToNiagara will specify your tour time and location through email.
• If for any reason your tour is cancelled (due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances), you will be notified as soon as possible and receive a FULL REFUND to your credit card or any other method of payment as applicable.

Q: How long is the winery tour?

This tour is approximately 4-5 hours in length (including time for pickup and drop off of guests).

Q: If there is bad weather what happens?

If the weather is bad, a vineyard tour may not be conducted. There will be no refunds in such cases.

Q: Where do the tours pick up?

We pick up from Downtown Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake Hotels and Bed and Breakfast places.

Q: How many people are on your tours?

We carry a maximum of 9 guests so that you can get the most out of your winery tour experience. However, on occasion, we may take more guests.

Q: How soon can I expect an email confirmation once I have placed an order?

ToNiagara will usually send a confirmation within 24 hours of your Winery booking being placed.

Q: I'm travelling from Toronto, where can I meet up with the tour?

We have another winery tour experience that picks up from Toronto. However, if you would like to come from Toronto on your own and then join this tour, we can pick you up from any of the hotels in Niagara Falls or Niagara-On-The-Lake.

Q: Are these tours wheelchair accessible?

At 2:45 PM, our next destination could be Between the Lines, or another family-owned winery known for its outstanding wines and delicious pairings with cheese and charcuterie boards. This stop emphasizes the fusion of local and international flavors, creating a gourmet experience amidst the vines.

By 4:00 PM, we might find ourselves at the renowned Pillitteri Estates or another historic estate, where a walking tour complements the tasting experience. Here, you’ll explore beautiful vineyard grounds and learn why these estates are celebrated in Niagara’s wine scene.

She was incredible, very knowledgeable, friendly, funny and made sure that we were all having the absolute best day. P.S if you book the wine tour with a chocolate dipping strawberry package it was an incredible way to end an amazing day and the staff at the chocolate factory were amazing as well.

This was not my first wine tour in NOTL, but it was certainly the best! Our tour was organized by Eddie and Melissa and it was superb. We were treated like gold from the very beginning and had a wonderful time. Melissa was a very courteous and knowledgeable guide. She brought us to a great variety of wineries, large and smaller scale, took photos for us and kept the day on track. The lunch we got as part of the tour was also fabulous. No complaints here!!!

Being new to drinking wine, we wanted to take a wine tour to give us some knowledge about wine and how it is produced. Found this company on the internet and decided to book a tour. We had a fabulous time We visited 4 different wineries and sample some great wines. We never knew how much wine is produced in Ontario. Our tour guide, Dave E., was fantastic. He engaged with all the people on the tour. Dave was very knowledgeable on the history of the industry and of the wineries we visited. I highly recommend this company and I highly recommend getting Dave E. as your guide. If we come back out this way, I would do this tour over again.

This was my first wine tour. Melissa was our bus driver and guide. She was excellent! Very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. We saw 3 wineries, made a stop at a chocolate factory and enjoyed a variety of cheeses. I'd definitely do a tour with them again (hopefully with Melissa as my guide)!

The pairing includes four wine tastings per person, accompanied by a selection of three artisan cheeses, a variety of charcuterie meats from local sources like Smoke and Barrel Niagara, and assorted accompaniments such as roasted nuts, dried fruits, and a selection of crackers. Please note, the specific winery hosting this pairing may vary, ensuring a unique and memorable experience each visit.

Why do I need to give 72 hours' notice for cancellations?

We require a 72-hour notice to ensure there is adequate time to inform our partners, including wineries, tour guides, and drivers, about the change. This notice helps us manage the logistics smoothly.

Cancellation

• To cancel or reschedule your booking,  please notify us at least 72 hours before your scheduled tour.  Small fees may apply due to arrangements with local wineries.
• For peace of mind, consider our refund insurance at $9.99 per person, which allows for a full refund on cancellation. Please note that the cost of your cancellation insurance will  be deducted  from the refund.
• If you don’t opt for refund insurance but need to postpone your tour, we’re happy to help reschedule if you notify us 72 hours prior to your tour start time.

• Option 2 Car Pool, Glendale, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0, Canada There are lots of free parking spots available when you off the QEW highway 89 on Glendale Ave exit. Follow the signs and go around the circle, then you will see Petro-Canada and Tim Hortons on your left hand side. ( car pool is at the back of it.)
• Pickup times start between 10:30 AM -11:00 AM. We usually reserved 15-20 minutes for preparation before heading to the wineries.
• Not wheelchair accessible
• Confirmation will be received at time of booking
• Not recommended for travellers with back problems
• Not recommended for pregnant travellers
• No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
• Most travellers can participate
• Minimum drinking age is 19 years old

The shuttle picked us up at the hotel and took us around 4 wineries. We got to see the vineyard, the production and bottling facilities. The tastings we great too. Each winery would let you sample 3-4 wines (red, white and ice wine). It was very informative and fun to say the least.We even went through the town Niagara-On-The-Lake.
