Division of Infectious Diseases

  • Travel Medicine

The Division’s International Travel Clinic offers unique services to individuals planning to travel abroad.

Division faculty with expertise in travel and global infectious diseases provide advice based on a traveler’s destination about preventative practices, including:

  • Immunizations for viral hepatitis, typhoid fever, meningococcal, Japanese encephalitis, etc.
  • Prophylactic antibiotic therapy, such as malaria prophylaxis
  • information about how to avoid infections

Travelers should plan to seek consultation at least three weeks before departure  to ensure that all appropriate immunizations can be administered and become effective. However, patients can also be seen on shorter notice. Patients with post-travel health concerns may likewise seek consultation.

Payment is required at the time of service. Exact prices will not be given over the phone as the pricing structure fluctuates and pricing will be determined based on immunizations needed at the time of the visit. We accept cash, checks or charge cards. Most insurance companies will only reimburse charges if it is medically necessary. We do not send claims to your healthcare provider. If you would like to submit the charges yourself, please do so and we will provide you with the receipt.
