This tour takes you through the idyllic villages, charming churches, and historic manors where the fictional crimes of Midsomer county unfold, blending the quaint beauty of rural England with a hint of mystery.
Starting in London you will head to the towns and villages of the deadly county of Midsomer which are actually situated across several English counties including Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
The tour includes a visit to the historic market town of Wallingford in Oxfordshire, which doubles as the fictional town of Causton, the heart of Midsomer. Here, you can visit the familiar sights from the series, such as the Corn Exchange and the Town Hall
The village of Warborough is another iconic location. Warborough’s church, The Church of St. Laurence, and its surrounding graveyard have been used in numerous episodes. The village green, complete with a traditional English pub, is another familiar sight where many community events (and crimes) in the series have taken place.
The tour also includes a visit to Dorchester-on-Thames, a picturesque village that appears in several episodes. Here, you can explore the Abbey Church of St Peter and St Paul, whose ancient, atmospheric interiors have provided the perfect setting for many a Midsomer mystery.
Lunch is held in Henley-on-Thames, where the River Thames adds a scenic backdrop to some of the more dramatic episodes. Walking along the riverbanks and through the charming town, you’ll recognize several spots where pivotal scenes were filmed.
You’ll be getting on and off the bus a number of times so you can take pictures of the pretty locations or crime scenes, depending on your point of view.
