Luke Days Air Show is back after 6 years. How to see the USAF Thunderbirds in AZ for free

G et your flight gear on and prepare to be dazzled with the long-awaited return of the Luke Days air show, the first one since 2018 . The every-other-year air show was canceled in 2020 and 2022 because of the pandemic .

If you're saying to yourself "airplanes aren't really interesting to me" you might want to reconsider. Experiencing military and stunt planes doing amazing flips, turns, nosedives and more in perfect unison is a thrilling way to spend an afternoon.

Here's everything you need to know before you head out to Luke Air Force Base for the highly anticipated return of the Luke Days air show.

Luke Days 2024 schedule

Luke Air Force Base's annual Luke Days takes place 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 23-24. Performances begin at 11a.m.

There will be military demonstrations from:

• USAF Thunderbirds.
• F-35 Demo Team.
• C-17 Demo Team.
• KC-135 Stratotanker.
• A-10 Demo Team.

Plus, additional performances from:

• Team Red Bull Air Race World Champion Kirby Chambliss.
• GhostWriters .
• Ace Maker Aviation .
• Mini Jet Airshows.
• Folds of Honor.

Visitors will also be able to see on-the-ground displays military and civilian aircraft.

General admission guests must buy a $40 per car pass to park on the base. Parking passes can be purchased at lukedays2024.com .

How to visit Luke Air Force Base

All guests over the age of 17 will need to show a valid ID to enter Luke Air Force Base.

Visitors are welcome to bring portable chairs or blankets to watch the show.
