  • This tour visits the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands (plus Germany on the tour extension). In order to enter these countries, U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport with an expiration date extending at least six months beyond the date of reentry.
  • We recommend having at least one blank passport page for entry stamps.
  • Beginning in 2025, U.S. and Canadian passport holders must register for an ETIAS travel authorization in order to enter many European countries.
  • Passport holders from over 60 visa-exempt countries (including the U.S. and Canada) will need to apply for an ETIAS travel authorization in order to visit 30 European countries. That means that even if you’ve previously traveled to any of these European countries without a visa, starting in 2025, you’ll need to get ETIAS authorization to visit them again. If you’re traveling to multiple countries with this requirement, you only need to complete the form once. All Go Ahead travelers are responsible for obtaining their own ETIAS travel authorization before departure. For more details, please visit our Help Center .
  • If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact each country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.
  • You can see the most up-to-date entry requirements for the destination(s) you’ll visit on tour by going to goaheadtours.com/entry-requirements and searching the code LPN
  • You will walk for at least 1.5 hours daily across mostly flat terrain, including paved roads and cobblestone streets, with few hills or stairs.
  • Travelers should be healthy enough to participate in all included walks without assistance. Adding optional excursions may increase the amount of walking on your tour.
  • You should feel comfortable managing your own baggage at times, as well as getting in and out of trains.
  • Go Ahead Tours and the Tour Director who accompanies your group are unable to provide special, individual mobility assistance to travelers on tour. The responsibility of the Tour Director is to ensure the group as a whole enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing, individualized assistance to any one traveler.
  • If you have any mobility concerns or physical restrictions, please contact our Customer Experience Team.
  • Round-trip flights booked through Go Ahead Tours arrive in London and depart from Amsterdam (or Berlin on the tour extension). When you first arrive in London, a driver from a private chauffeur service will be standing at the arrival gate with your name on a message board. If you do not see your driver, please remain in the arrival lounge, as the driver may be escorting one of your fellow travelers to the shuttle at the time of your arrival. For more details, please reference the London transfer information included in your Go Kit.
  • Transfers to and from the airport at your destination are included for travelers who have purchased their flights through Go Ahead Tours. Travelers who purchase their own flights may request airport transfers with Go Ahead Tours for an additional cost.
  • Train rides from London to Paris and from Paris to Amsterdam are included in the price of your tour. (The tour extension also includes a flight from Amsterdam to Berlin.)
  • All other included transportation on this tour is by private motor coach.
  • Please note that our travelers are limited to one checked bag and one personal item per person due to storage limitations on motor coaches and other transfers, which may include train connections or flights.
  • Contact your airline(s) for baggage size and weight restrictions for your flights, which may include on-tour flights in addition to your round-trip flights to and from tour. Please note that your included on-tour flights may have more restrictive baggage limits.
  • Some airlines may impose additional charges if you choose to check any baggage or exceed baggage size and weight restrictions. Be advised that you are responsible for any baggage fees incurred on all flights.
  • Make sure you label your baggage and keep valuables, medication, and documents in your carry-on bag.
  • Porterage is not included for the train transfers. Travelers must be comfortable lifting and carrying all luggage over steps, onto platforms, and into luggage storage. The storage space on the train is extremely limited, so we recommended traveling with only one suitcase per person (and a personal item such, as a backpack or purse).
  • We recommend lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered to accommodate varying temperatures, as well as a light jacket or rainwear.
  • A sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is recommended for sightseeing.
  • You may want to pack dressier attire if you plan to visit a high-end restaurant or attend a special performance.
  • It is preferable not to visit churches or other religious sites with bare legs and shoulders (and entrance may be denied on this basis).
  • At least 60 days prior to departure, check with your doctor or healthcare provider for the latest updates and entry requirements, or visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website at cdc.gov .
  • If you have medication that you take daily, be sure you have enough for each day of the tour as well as any possible delays encountered.
  • If you have dietary restrictions and/or food allergies please notify Go Ahead Tours at least 30 days prior to departure by logging in to your account and updating your traveler info. To update this information closer to your departure date, please call our Customer Experience Team.
  • For traditional English fare at a reasonable price, try a pub meal of fish and chips or bangers and mash. Stilton cheese, steak and kidney pie, and Cumberland sausages are also worth a try.
  • Modern-day London boasts an array of diverse international restaurants. Popular options for the adventurous palate include Indian, Thai, Chinese, Indonesian, Greek, and West African cuisine.Sip afternoon tea with delicious finger sandwiches and scones at Harrods for the ultimate in English tradition.
  • For a picnic with French flair, stop at a small grocery store for cheeses, pâtés , cured meats, fresh-baked bread, and fruit. In the cities, sidewalk vendors are known for their steaming crepes, while mouthwatering pastries and hot café au lait beckon from cafes. In restaurants, the prix fixe option is a popular way to enjoy a set three- or four-course menu for a good price.
  • Although lunch is generally served from noon until 2pm in France, dinner is served from 7:30pm onward. Those wishing to eat earlier can stop at a cafe, where light entrées and sandwiches are available throughout the afternoon and evening.
  • In the Netherlands, simply prepared meat and fish dishes, substantial soups, and hearty stews are local staples. Snack food traditionally features fish—you might try maatje , raw green herring served with onions—but pancakes, french fries, doughnuts, and waffles are just as plentiful.
  • On the tour extension, German food is hearty and substantial. Among the specialties are dumpling stews, sauerkraut, sausages, smoked cheeses, and dark breads. Bavaria produces some of the world’s purest beers, and white German wines are exceptionally good.
  • The United Kingdom operates on the European standard 220-240 volts and uses a Type G plug with three large, flat pins.
  • France and the Netherlands (plus Germany on the tour extension) operate on the European standard 220-240 volts and use Types C, E, or F plugs with two small, round pins.
  • We recommend packing a universal adapter, as well as a voltage converter if you plan on using your own hairdryer or other electrical device without a built-in converter.
  • The strength of the air conditioning in European hotels is often not as strong or as cool as what you might be used to in the U.S. or Canada. When air conditioning is available, it is usually regulated seasonally and controlled centrally by the hotel.
  • Some of the hotels on this tour will provide hairdryers, irons, and other small appliances, but these amenities cannot be guaranteed.
  • Wi-Fi is available in most hotels, though some charges may apply.
  • There is no Wi-Fi on any of the motor coaches.
  • Please contact your mobile service provider for information on roaming charges.
  • The United Kingdom is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is five hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET).
  • France and the Netherlands (plus Germany on the tour extension) are one hour ahead of GMT and six hours ahead of ET.
  • When it’s noon in New York, it’s 5pm in the United Kingdom and 6pm in France and the Netherlands (as well as in Germany on the tour extension).
  • You will use the Pound sterling in the United Kingdom and the euro in France and the Netherlands (as well as in Germany on the tour extension).
  • Better rates of exchange are usually available overseas, but you may choose to order some currency from your local bank to use when you first arrive.
  • We strongly advise that you take debit/bank cards and credit cards, which can be used to withdraw cash at local banks as needed.
  • You can use most debit/credit cards at ATMs on the international networks Cirrus and Plus, but make sure to check with your home bank about withdrawal fees.
  • Inform your bank and credit card company of your travel plans so that they won’t confuse your international purchases for fraudulent charges.
  • International banks and businesses primarily accept debit and credit cards that work with the EMV chip system. If you do not already have at least one debit or credit card with a chip in it, we strongly recommend requesting one from your bank prior to your tour.
  • At the conclusion of your tour, it’s customary to offer your Tour Director and driver a gratuity in local currency. Please keep current exchange rates in mind.
  • We recommend tipping the equivalent of $10USD to $12USD per person per day for your Tour Director and the equivalent of $3USD per person per day for your driver.
  • If applicable, we also recommend the equivalent of $2USD per local guide.
  • Tips can only be paid in cash.
  • Most optional excursions will be available for purchase while you are on tour.
  • Your Tour Director will only accept cash (in USD only), Visa, or MasterCard as payment for excursions.
  • Please be advised that if you pay for an excursion by credit card while on tour, it may take up to three months for your card to be charged.
  • Some optional excursions may only be purchased in advance. See page four of your tour itinerary for more information.

Lady’s Exciting London, Paris, and Rome Itinerary

Today I want to share my London, Paris, and Rome itinerary for 14 days in Britain, France, and Italy with you. 2 weeks is a great amount of time to see the highlights of these famous capital cities. From world-class landmarks to great shopping, dining, and entertainment, there are plenty of things to do and see in all three places. Whatever your interests, you can find lots of ways to fill your time while experiencing the best of these amazing cities.

London, Paris, and Rome itinerary

London, Paris, and Rome Itinerary

One of the things that brings me the most joy from running a travel blog is helping people plan their trips. Whether it’s through my blog posts or my travel planning services , I always love hearing how my readers have had a richer experience on their journeys.

A lot of my readers and clients ask whether you can do London, Paris, and Rome in one trip. Once I tell them how easy it is, they ask me how many days you need for a trip to all three cities.

I tell them I recommend spending 14 days in London, Paris, and Rome. It’s the ideal length of time to see each city without feeling rushed. It will even allow you to take a day trip or two if you’d like to see more.

To fill in the details, today I want to share the official A Lady in London itinerary for visiting the British, French, and Italian capitals.

Rome Street

How to Use The Itinerary

There’s no right or wrong way to spend your time on an itinerary in London, Paris, and Rome. My guide offers a mix of the big sights and the local places Londoners, Parisians, and Romans frequent.

I’ve spent years living in the UK capital, I lived and worked in Paris for a time, and I’ve visited Rome numerous times, so I know the cities well. I hope this blog post gives you a solid overview of what you can experience in each one.

When you’re planning your trip to London, Paris, and Rome, you can adjust the schedule to fit your personal interests and tastes.

Best Time to Visit London, Paris, and Rome

As far as what the best time of year to travel to London, Paris, and Rome is, there’s no right or wrong answer. Much depends on your preferences for weather, daylight hours, tourist crowds, and seasonal events and festivities.

That said, keep in mind that a lot of restaurants and other businesses (especially in Paris) close for summer holidays in August, so you’ll want to be aware of that if you visit at the end of summer.

How to Pack for Your Trip

In terms of how to pack for a trip like this, the three cities have a fairly similar climate. You can use my guide to what to wear in London to help you. Italy can be warmer than France and the UK, so bear that in mind.

There are plenty of options for hotels, apartment rentals, and other accommodation in London, Paris, and Rome. Whatever you prefer, the cities have a lot of good places to choose from.

Given how big all three cities are, basing yourself in a central location is a wise idea. You can see my blog posts about the best area to stay in London and the best area to stay in Paris for more ideas.

You can also find deals and book accommodation in London here , in Paris here , and in Rome here . With so many options, you’re sure to find a place that fits your style.

Rome Hotel Lobby

Day 1: London – Buckingham Palace and Westminster

After you’ve arrived and gotten settled into your accommodation in the UK capital , start your 14-day London, Paris, and Rome itinerary at Buckingham Palace.

You can time your visit to watch the famous Changing the Guard ceremony, or just admire the monarch’s London residence from outside the gates.

If the dates of your trip coincide with the seasonal opening, you can tour Buckingham Palace . It’s a great way to see the state rooms, gardens, and annual exhibition while you’re visiting. You can book tickets here (you’ll need to book well in advance).

Buckingham Palace Guards

When you’re done at Buckingham Palace, walk through the green expanse of St James’s Park, over to Horse Guards Parade, and into Whitehall and Westminster . These areas are home to some of the most iconic London landmarks .

Westminster Abbey is beautiful, Big Ben is a must on any London itinerary, and the Houses of Parliament are stunning to see. If you have time, you can tour the abbey and parliament . You can book tickets here .

You can also do my free self-guided walking tour in Westminster if you want to explore more of the area than just the main attractions. It will show you around the side streets and local places Londoners spend time in.

Westminster Abbey and Big Ben

In the evening, you can eat dinner near your hotel if you’re feeling jet lagged or if you had to get up early to travel. If not, you can see my recommendations for restaurants in London to find a place you like.

If you still have energy left after dinner, you can take an open-top bus tour to get a feel for the city. It’s a great way to get an overview of what London has to offer visitors. You can book tickets here .

Day 2: London – South Bank and the City

Start the second morning of your London, Paris, and Rome trip by exploring the South Bank .

Right on the Thames , this is an ideal place to take in the views from the London Eye, browse the book market, or soak up the scene on the river. You can get London Eye tickets here (it’s best to buy them in advance, as they can sell out).

There are always pop-ups, street performers, and other entertainment going on along the South Bank, so it’s fun to walk beside the Thames and see what’s taking place while you’re in town.

South Bank, London

As you make your way from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge, you’ll go by Tate Modern and Borough Market. They’re two of the UK capital’s most famous landmarks, and they’re both worth a detour.

The museum is a fun place to discover, and the fact that it offers free entry means you can go in for as little or as long as you’d like to. There are panoramic views from the top of Tate Modern’s Blavatnik Building as well.

A bit farther down the river, Borough Market is the ideal spot to pick up something for lunch. It’s fun to meander through the stalls to soak up the colors and scents as you make up your mind.

Borough Market in London

After eating lunch at Borough Market, cross London Bridge and make your way into the City of London . Don’t miss the sweeping views of Tower Bridge as you go.

From the iconic dome of St Paul’s Cathedral to the historic lanes by Bank station, this area has amazing architectural history . You can take my free self-guided City of London walking tour if you want to see the highlights.

If not, head east to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. You can tour the tower and the bridge, or just take them in from the outside. You can book Tower of London tickets here .

Tower Bridge, London

When the sun starts to sink, walk across Tower Bridge and over to Bermondsey Street . This place is a favorite of Londoners, and there are great pubs and restaurants with delicious food and drinks here.

Whether you want a classic pub meal of fish and chips, a heaping bowl of pasta, or an excellent tapas dinner, you can find it on Bermondsey Street.

Day 3: London – Notting Hill or Bloomsbury and the West End

If it’s a Saturday, I recommend starting the third day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary in Notting Hill . With its vibrant shops and lovely mews , this west London neighborhood is always a treat to explore.

You’ll be able to discover the iconic Portobello Road Market in all its glory on a Saturday, too. I recommend arriving early to avoid the crowds, particularly if you’re in town during the busy summer months.

Away from the market, my self-guided Notting Hill walk is a great way to discover the local highlights of the area. It will show you around to see everything from the high streets to the secluded corners and mews.

Colorful Houses in Notting Hill

After eating lunch in Notting Hill, you can meander down into Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park for the afternoon.

There’s no shortage of things to see and do in these expansive green spaces, from boating on the Serpentine to browsing the art galleries and touring Kensington Palace.

If it’s not a Saturday or you’re not keen on Notting Hill, I recommend spending time in Bloomsbury today.

You can go to the British Museum (it offers free entry), or walk around and take in the area’s many squares. My free self-guided Bloomsbury walk will lead you to the best places in the neighborhood.

When you’ve finished exploring, you can take the Piccadilly line of the tube from Russell Square to Hyde Park Corner and walk around the green spaces and gardens.

Bloomsbury Pub

When the sun starts to go down, walk or take the tube through Mayfair to get to Soho and Covent Garden . They’re some of the most exciting places in London.

There’s no shortage of fun spots to find dinner in the West End. Whether you go to a timeless classic like Rules or opt for one of the many new restaurants opening all the time, you’ll be spoiled for choice in this part of London.

After dinner, you can see a show. There are always lots of plays, musicals, comedy acts, and other entertainments on, and they’re enjoyable ways to cap off a day of sightseeing in the city. From dramas to comedies and farces, you have plenty of options.

Harry Potter Theater, London

If you’re still up for going out afterwards, the bars and pubs in Soho and Covent Garden are a lot of fun.

My favorite one is Cahoots, a London Underground-themed speakeasy just off Carnaby Street in Kingly Court. It’s one of my favorite travel-themed bars in the UK capital.

If you just want to wander around, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, the Covent Garden Piazza, and Leicester Square are always fun places to walk around London at night .

The National Gallery is also open until 9pm every Friday, so you can take in the collection after-hours if you’d like to. It offers free entry, so you can see as much or as little as you have time for.

Soho, London at night

Day 4 in London: London Neighborhoods or Day Trip

On the fourth day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary, you can either explore some of the prettiest areas in central and west London, or take a day trip.

If you choose the former, start your morning in Belgravia . This luxurious central London neighborhood is known for its cute cafes and shops, particularly those on Elizabeth Street .

You can follow my self-guided Belgravia walking tour to see the highlights of the area, or just meander through the elegant streets and quiet mews. My top picks include Motcomb Street, Belgrave Square, and Pimlico Road.

Building in Belgrave Square, London

From Belgravia, walk over to Sloane Square and the King’s Road in Chelsea . This is a fun place to go shopping and have lunch, and you can eat at one of the many cafes and restaurants here.

If it’s a Saturday , you can explore the food market in Duke of York Square. If it’s not, there’s still a lot to do here. The King’s Road is one of the best shopping streets in London , and the Saatchi Gallery is free to pop into.

If you want more direction, you can take my self-guided Chelsea walk to see more of the neighborhood’s beautiful side streets and riverfront area.

Chelsea Embankment, London

From Chelsea, make your way to upscale Knightsbridge to go shopping at department stores like Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Alternatively, you can go to South Kensington to visit some of the museums.

The Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and V&A are right next to one another. All three of them offer free entry, so you can spend as much or as little time as you’d like exploring their collections and temporary exhibitions.

In the evening, you can go to dinner at one of the many restaurants outside the South Kensington tube station. There are plenty of different cuisines on offer here, so you’re sure to find something that appeals to your taste buds.

If you’re up for ending your day in style, there are lots of good nightlife spots around Walton Street and the King’s Road. From pubs to clubs, you have plenty of options to choose from.

South Kensington Restaurant

If you’re more interested in taking a day trip from London , you also have a lot of options.

If you’re a fan of the English countryside, my favorite is a day trip to the Cotswolds . You can go independently with or without a car , or take a guided day tour . If the latter appeals, you can book a tour here .

There are lots of towns and villages in the Cotswolds you can visit. My top picks include Painswick , Bibury, Upper Slaughter , and Castle Combe.

Arlington Row, Bibury, Cotswolds

If you want to go to the seaside, Brighton , Deal , and Hastings are my top recommendations. They all have fun beaches and lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy.

If history is your cup of tea, Winchester , Windsor Castle , Bath , Stonehenge , Canterbury and Dover , Lewes , and Amersham are ideal places for you. Amersham is so close you can even do it as a half day trip from London .

If you want to see famous university cities in the UK, look no further than Oxford and Cambridge . These two are some of the most popular day trips from London by train .

Radcliffe Camera, Oxford

If you’re up for traveling further afield, you can take a York day trip from London . It’s a beautiful city in the north of England, and it’s worth a special trip.

And if you really want to get out of town, you can take a day trip from London to Europe . From Lille to Amsterdam , there are plenty of options.

If you want my recommendations for seasonal trips, you can take a look at my blog posts about spring , summer , autumn , and winter day trips from London for more ideas.

House on Portugal Place, Cambridge

Day 5 in London: St James’s, Mayfair, and Marylebone

Start the fifth morning of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary in St James’s . This elegant part of the city is known for its stunning royal palace , men’s shops, luxury hotels , private members’ clubs, and art galleries.

You can walk down Jermyn Street or Piccadilly and go into legendary department stores like Fortnum & Mason.

When you’re done, you can walk across Piccadilly to get to Mayfair . This high-end neighborhood is home to luxury goods shops, fine-dining restaurants, and the curving stretch of Regent Street.

You can take my Mayfair walk if you want to see the side streets and mews, too.

Mayfair, London

Mayfair is a great place to enjoy a meal or afternoon tea . Whether you opt for a laid-back place on Heddon Street or splurge on a tasting menu at a Michelin-starred restaurant, you have a lot of options for lunch.

When it comes to tea, I recommend Brown’s Hotel afternoon tea or the awe-inspiring yellow room at Sketch.

After lunch or tea, walk across Oxford Street and make your way into Marylebone . This is another of my favorite London neighborhoods , especially because it has one of the best high streets in London .

Marylebone High Street Pub

There are plenty of shops to keep you busy on Marylebone High Street . They’re ideal places to get a taste of London’s famous retail therapy scene.

From boutiques to high street names, this road has it all. My top pick for a place to shop in Marylebone is Daunt Books. It’s one of the best independent bookshops in London , and it’s a treat to see the Edwardian interior with its stunning oak galleries.

If you’re interested, you can take my self-guided Marylebone walk to see more of the area. It will take you around to see pretty mews, more shopping streets, and gardens.

Marylebone Mews Houses in London

After you’ve explored Marylebone, make your way over to Regent’s Park . This is one of the most beloved green spaces in the city, and it’s a delight to walk around. If you visit in summer, the rose gardens are beautiful.

When the sun starts to sink, you can head back to Marylebone High Street for dinner, or leave via one of the other exits from the park to eat dinner in pretty Primrose Hill , alternative Camden , or classic Fitzrovia .

Day 6: London to Paris – The Marais and Riverside Sightseeing

Start the sixth day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary with an early train to the French capital. You’ll arrive mid-morning, and once you’ve checked into your hotel in Paris you can start exploring the City of Light.

Paris Carousel

I recommend spending your first day in Paris in the Marais . This historic quarter is known for everything from its Jewish heritage to its stylish shops, delicious restaurants, and pretty Place des Vosges.

The Picasso Museum is here, too, and the famous Centre Pompidou modern art museum is on the border of the neighborhood.

There are lots of great places to eat here, so it’s easy to find a spot for lunch as you discover the area. My favorite for a quick meal is L’As du Fallafel, a casual spot with delicious Middle Eastern food.

Place des Vosges, Paris

When you’re done in the Marais, you can stroll down to the Seine and cross one of the bridges to get to the Ile Saint-Louis. This island in the river is home to fun shops, historic streets, and scenic views.

It’s a treat to walk down Rue Saint-Louis en l’Ile, browse the shops, and get an ice cream cone at legendary glacier Berthillon.

From there you can cross the Pont Saint-Louis bridge to get to the Ile de la Cite. This island is home to the world-famous Notre Dame cathedral.

Notre Dame, Paris

It’s also the site of the Sainte-Chapelle, a 13th-century Gothic chapel with awe-inspiring stained-glass windows. It’s worth a special trip to see the stunning interior. You can book a ticket for the Sainte-Chapelle here .

When the sun starts to set, you can take a river cruise on the Seine to get a feel for the city. It’s a scenic way to get an overview of what Paris has to offer visitors. You can book tickets here .

After the cruise you can head to dinner in the Latin Quarter. This vibrant part of the city is home to fun restaurants and bars, and it’s a great place to spend an evening out in Paris.

Paris River Cruise at Sunset

Day 7: Paris – Champs-Elysees and Iconic Landmarks

Start the seventh day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary in the Jardin des Tuileries gardens. They’re beautiful for walking and people-watching. You can admire the Louvre from the grounds as well.

Walk up to and through the Place de la Concorde, which has a large Egyptian obelisk in the center. Once you’ve soaked up the scene, walk northwest up the legendary Avenue des Champs-Elysees.

As you head towards the Arc de Triomphe, you’ll pass landmarks like the Petit Palais and Grand Palais as well as gardens and shops.

When you get to the arch, you can go up to the top to take in the views, or go down to the Seine to get to the Eiffel Tower. Again, you can admire this famous structure from the ground or head to the top to see the panoramas. You can book a ticket here .

Eiffel Tower in Paris

After seeing the tower, walk down into the Champ de Mars park and over to Rue Cler. There are lots of classic restaurants and cafes here where you can eat lunch.

After eating, you can make your way to Hotel des Invalides to admire its ornate dome. You can go inside to see the army museum (or head over to the adjacent Rodin Museum if you like art). You can book a ticket here .

The Thinker Sculpture in Paris

From the museum you can walk or take the metro to the 6th arrondissement to explore your choice of places like the Luxembourg Gardens, the streets of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, or the 17th-century Eglise Saint-Sulpice church.

When evening comes, beat a path to Rue Mouffetard. This street is famous for its crepe stands and restaurants. It’s a fun place to eat in Paris.

There are plenty of bars around here, too. If you want to get a taste of the Paris nightlife scene, it’s a great area to do it.

Day 8: Paris – 1st Arrondissement and Montmartre

Begin your day in the 1st arrondissement today. From the beautiful buildings lining Place Vendome to the gardens and grounds of the Palais-Royal, it’s hard to go wrong here.

Palais Royal in Paris, France

There are famous cafes like Angelina on Rue de Rivoli, and great shopping on Rue Saint-Honore. I came here once with a personal shopper and it was amazing.

There’s no shortage of spots to get something to eat around here, either, so it’s an ideal place to have lunch before the next stop on your itinerary.

From the 1st, you can pop up to see the stunning Palais Garnier opera house, or hop on the metro and head to Montmartre (or do both if you have time).

Sacre Coeur in Paris, France

Montmartre is one of the most picturesque quarters of Paris, and there’s a lot to see here. From the Sacre-Coeur basilica on the hill to the pretty restaurants and streets, it’s a photographer’s dream.

Make sure to explore the side streets while you’re here as well. There are loads of small surprises to discover.

When the sun goes down, you can settle in at one of the many lively restaurants in Montmartre. There are fun bars in the area if you’re looking for after-dinner entertainment, too.

Paris Restaurant

If you’re interested in seeing a cabaret show, the famous Moulin Rouge is here. I went once and I really enjoyed the performance. You can book tickets here .

Day 9: Paris – Museums or Day Trip

On the ninth day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary, I recommend either seeing some of the famous museums or taking a day trip from Paris.

Most people are interested in seeing either the Louvre or the Musee d’Orsay while visiting, so you can take your pick or see both (they’re both big, so make sure to pace yourself). You can book Louvre tickets here , and Musee D’Orsay tickets here .

Sculpture gallery at the Louvre in Paris

Paris has plenty of other museums, too, so you can visit another one or two if you want to. Some of my favorites are the Centre Pompidou, the Musee Jacquemart-Andre, the Musee Marmottan Monet, and the Musee Nissim de Camondo.

There are always plenty of exhibitions on, too, so you can check out what’s showing when you’re in town before you travel.

If one museum is enough for you, there’s no shortage of great parks to discover in Paris. My top picks are Parc Monceau in the 8th arrondissement and Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in the 19th. They’re both home to beautiful grounds and gardens.

If you decide to take a day trip, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Options include royal palaces like Versailles and Fontainebleau, wine regions like Champagne and Burgundy , chateau-littered lands like the Loire Valley, and historic cathedrals like Chartres.

If you enjoy art, you can even take a day trip from Paris to Giverny to see Monet’s gardens. They’re as lush in real life as they are in his paintings.

I’ve done all these day trips and more, and I recommend them from personal experience. You can go independently by train or car, or take a guided tour. You can get ideas and book a tour here .

Art galleries in Giverny, France

Day 10: Rome – Famous Lunch and Big Sights

Start the tenth day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary with a flight to the Italian capital. You’ll arrive mid-morning, and once you’ve checked into your hotel in Rome you can start exploring.

But first, lunch. There’s no better place for it than Antico Forno Roscioli. This famous deli in Rome is the perfect place to sample classic Roman pizza.

In the afternoon, you can walk around to see the historic Piazza Navona, the famous Caravaggio paintings in San Luigi dei Francesi church, and the Pantheon.

When evening comes, you can watch the sunset at a rooftop bar in Rome. You can enjoy cocktails and aperitivo before heading to dinner.

Rome View

Day 11: Rome – Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Food Tour

Start the eleventh day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary at the Colosseum. You can save time by pre-booking skip-the-line tickets to avoid the crowds.

After you’ve taken in the ancient amphitheater, it’s a short walk to the Roman Forum. As with the Colosseum, you can pre-book your tickets to save time. Once inside, you can see the ruins and discover what life in Ancient Rome was like.

In the afternoon you can take a food tour with a local guide . They’ll take you around to sample some of the best food in the city (and show you the sights as you go).

Rome outdoor restaurant tables

After the tour you can spend time walking around, shopping, sightseeing , eating gelato, or taking a rest at your hotel. When evening comes, there are all kinds of restaurants to choose from in Rome.

Day 12: Rome – Museum and Sightseeing

I recommend starting the twelfth day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary with a tour of the Galleria Borghese. Set in the stunning Villa Borghese Pinciana, it’s one of the city’s best art museums.

It’s worth pre-booking a guided tour to fully appreciate the collection (and because tickets sell out in advance). You’ll see the main rooms of the museum and learn about everything from the important Bernini sculptures to the Caravaggio paintings.

Galleria Borghese

From there you can walk over to the Spanish Steps. This eye-catching Rococo staircase was built in the 18th century. It ascends from the Piazza di Spagna to the church of Trinita’ de’ Monti, and it’s stunning to see.

From the steps you can shop your way down the luxurious Via dei Condotti on your way to the Trevi Fountain.

Nicola Salvi’s 18th-century masterpiece is one of the most impressive fountains in the world. It takes up the whole side of a building, and the sculptures are beautiful.

Trevi Fountain

Afterwards, you can walk around, shop, do some more sightseeing at places like the Piazza del Popolo and Altare della Patria, or have a drink at an open-air cafe before heading to dinner in the city center.

Day 13: Rome – Vatican City

Start the last full day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary with a trip to Vatican City. You can pre-book skip-the-line tickets to the Vatican Museums and head inside to see the amazing art collection.

From the ancient Roman sculptures to the Renaissance masterpieces and the Sistine Chapel, the museums are truly impressive. With artworks by everyone from Michelangelo to Raphael, it’s hard not to be awed here.

Vatican Museums

From the museums it’s a short walk to St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. This is the most important church in the Catholic world, and it’s beautiful both inside and out.

Highlights include Michelangelo’s Pieta, which is often considered the most famous work of art in St Peter’s.

After visiting, you can walk down Via della Conciliazione to the River Tiber, admiring the hulking form of the Castel Sant’Angelo as you go.

When evening comes, you can enjoy a final dinner in Rome. Whether you choose an acclaimed restaurant or a casual cafe, it’s hard to go wrong here.

Rome Cocktail

Day 14: Rome – Departure

On the final day of your London, Paris, and Rome itinerary, I recommend spending the morning (or afternoon, depending on your departure time) doing any last-minute shopping you didn’t have time to do or filling in any gaps in your sightseeing agenda.

You’ll probably have heard about some additional places while you’re in the city, so this is a good opportunity to tick them off your list.

Whether it’s a local market, a museum, or a famous gelato shop, there’s plenty to keep you busy before you depart Italy.

Roman Forum

I hope you’ve enjoyed my London, Paris, and Rome itinerary. These three capitals are world-class cities, and there’s a lot to discover in each one. I’ve spent years exploring them, and I still don’t feel like I’ve seen everything. Happy travels!

Countries Visited

Places visited, suggested duration, customizable itinerary, london – tip top london.

London is the capital of Britain and once the center of the entire British Empire. The magnificent ambiance of the city continues to inspire visitors from around the world. Parliament lines the River Thames and the Crown Jewels sparkle underneath the display lights in the Tower of London. History is tangible whether walking down the cobbled streets near the old city walls of the East End or strolling through the immaculate displays of collected cultures at the British Museum.

The aroma of pasties, a traditional Cornish dish of beef and, or potatoes stuffed into filo dough, drifts out of small cafes. The smell of blossomed flowers swirls around Hyde Park. People sip tea in the cool afternoon.

Your private transfer meets you at the airport and escorts you into the city center. Settle into your comfortable accommodation in the heart of London.

What's Included:

London – A Spot of Brilliance

London is a true metropolis, showcasing the cosmopolitan nature of having been the center of an expansive empire for centuries, along with brimming with British cultural history. The herbaceous scent of freshly brewed tea accompanies your full English breakfast. After your meal, the city awaits and is filled with locals and visitors alike stepping out into the crisp morning air.

Buckingham Palace emanates the iconic image of London and England. The palace was constructed in the 18th century for the Duke of Buckingham and became the monarchy’s official city residence in the 1830s. The current east wing façade was remodeled in the early 20th century to create the picture-perfect palace the world sees today.

Redstone tile is at the forecourt. You see the Queen’s Guard dressed in bright red coats with golden buttons lining the front. Their bearskin hats are tall and lined with fur, reaching 18 inches top to bottom. Every day at 11:30 am from April to July the Foot Guards need to be replaced, known as the Changing of the Guard. As the new guards arrive, the old guards carry the Standard and Trumpeters sounding the Royal Salute. It is a spectacle experience that has become quintessential to any Buckingham Palace visit. When the trumpets sound, the new guard is instated, the old guard marches away, and the unique vision of the tradition remains.

London – The City’s Outer Rim

The day is yours to experience the wonders of London and its surroundings, whether strolling through the sensational paintings hung in the National Gallery showing Paul Cézanne and George Seurat. Or, leaving behind the historic pubs Dickens frequented to venture out of the city for the day.

The cherry trees blossom in Hyde Park creating an illusion of snow when the petals taper through the gentle breeze. You venture out of the city and into the countryside to find lush hills rolling into the horizon. Sheep graze on the grassland. Villages rise over the citadels with homes sporting thatched roofs. You arrive in Wiltshire, home to the famous Neolithic and Bronze Aged monument of Stonehenge. Archeologists believe the structure was built between 3,000 and 2,000 BC. When you step onto the grounds, you feel the undeniable mysticism all around you. The grass is soft under your feet and the sample stones outside of the visitor center allow you to feel the smooth texture and temperature of the earthen building material.

The reasons for the structure and the method of its erection remain a mystery. The granite glints in the sunlight highlighting the size of the four-ton blocks taken from South Wales. The stones were placed in two concentric circles. The cropped landscape makes the stones look even bigger. The inner horseshoe marks the sunrise during the summer solstice. The mysteries of the site continue to captivate people from around the world.

London – University Grounds

There is inherent charm in the university cities that have educated some of the most brilliant minds of the world. In the morning, you once again depart from the wealth of herbaceous aromatics from the endless tea selection at breakfast. You make your way to your choice of cities, Oxford or Cambridge.

The university was established in the 13th century and the medieval architecture creating the cityscape creates an enchanting environment. The River Cam flows gracefully around the gardens shaded by jade trees and crossed over by arched stone bridges. Leafy meadows encompass the historic stone buildings adding to the historic rivalry against Oxford.

The amount of writers, poets, artists, and politicians seem to permeate the cobbled passageways. Locals glide down the narrow walkways on bicycles, drifting underneath the dangling leaves. Punters meander down the Rive Cam causing ripples in the current. King’s College Chapel was built in the 16th century and maintains its grandiose appearance of staple Gothic architecture. The fan-vaulted ceiling stretches 262 feet and reaches upwards before erupting in a network of stone tiers. The acoustics are incredible, making every footstep resound. You can imagine the captivating voices of the choir calling through the cavernous space.

Amsterdam – Rolling into Amsterdam

When the sunlight rises over the horizon, it shimmers on the classic bends of the River Thames and glints off of the glass of the modern architectural beauty of 30 St Mary Axe, a stunning building in the Financial District that resembles a Faberge Egg. After breakfast, your private transfer escorts you to St. Pancras Station where you board your luxurious first-class train cabin. The high-speed railway rushes you out of the city and into the countryside en route to Brussels, Belgium. The scent of coffee and pastries fills the cabin.

Soon you pass underneath the Channel, traveling along the famed Chunnel, one of two tunnels connecting England to mainland Europe. The Belgian countryside is colorful and level. The leaves range from green to rustic orange. Your ride continues northbound into the Netherlands until arriving in the treasured city of Amsterdam. Your private transfer meets you at Amsterdam Central Train Station and guides you to your lavish hotel situated near the bright and elegant city center.

Amsterdam – Northern Enchantment

Amsterdam effortlessly blends its vibrant past with an eclectic present, with 17th-century buildings lining the tranquil canal. The waterways meander around the city turning neighborhoods into serene islands. The facades are as mesmeric as the Renaissance art hanging in the celebrated museums. In the morning, the scent of rich, strong coffee filters through the air. Boats drift down the canals and locals cycle to work along the cobblestone streets.

Your guide meets you at the hotel ready to escort you through the wonders of the city. The Jewish Historical Museum is located in the Grote Synagogue, which was constructed in the 17th century, and sits in the heart of the Jewish Cultural Quarter. A large sculpture of a tree, symbolizing the Tree of Life, frames the window. Green bookshelves brighten the library, encircling a graceful chandelier dangling from the ceiling. The aroma of leather-bound books fills the classic room. In the galleries, you see the glinting frames of a silver Torah headdresses and ornate robes. The museum connotes a rich connection to the city’s Jewish population up until the 1940s. A monument outside the museum commemorates the 1941 strike when workers refused to cooperate with the expulsion of their fellow citizens.

Amsterdam – Day and Night

In the morning, the sunlight washes over the colorful facades of the cityscape. The canals rush underneath the series of bridges with a slow current. The scent of fresh coffee returns with breakfast. In the evening, you will have a guided tour of the history and evolution of Amsterdam’s famous Red Light District. However, the daylight hours are yours to delight in the city however you wish.

When you reach the Museumplein, the sign “I Amsterdam” stands in front of the entrance to the Rijksmuseum. Trimmed grass flows through the square offering lushness to a city of stone and water. The Van Gogh museum celebrates the 19th century artist by displaying his paintings over three floors of sensationally curated space. The museum opened in the 1970s and is the second most visited museum in the Netherlands. Over 200 paintings hang in the various galleries of the museum. Natural light filters through the main floor. The vibrant colors burst from the paintings with swirling texture. The modern design blends in with the Impressionist art. The famous painting, Yellow House, was painted in 1888 and recorded the artist’s surroundings when living in the house.

Amsterdam – Never Say Never in the Netherlands

The flower markets blossom in the morning emitting the floral aroma of famous Dutch tulips. The bright yellow and pink hues create a jovial atmosphere in the early hours of the day. Today, you can experience the life and beauty of Holland outside of Amsterdam, venturing to Haarlem, a city only 13 miles away, but feels like light years. Haarlem is smaller and maintains its town-like charm in its history, dating back over 1,000 years. The city is classically Dutch.

The streets are paved with cobblestones, and the skies are lined with church spires. Duck under the stone crossbeams and find cozy bars. Friendly cafes line the canals. Continue on to Lisse to find the nearby legendary Keukenhof Garden, open from March to May, where you find 80 acres of blossoming tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths, creating a sea of flowers. When the breeze comes and ruffles the petals the entire gardens ripple, sweeping across the landscape with unparalleled life.

Paris – Southbound to Masterworks

In the morning, the main plaza known as Dam Square becomes filled with locals on their way to work. The Palace of the Queen helps border the square. Food stalls open up in the afternoon filling the square with the aroma of delicious Dutch pancakes. Your private transfer meets you after breakfast to escort you to Amsterdam Central Train Station where you board your first-class luxury cabin.

When the train departs, the scent of fresh coffee and pastries feels familiar. The cushioned seat lets you sink into the ride with comfort. You look out the window and watch the level plains of the Netherlands and northern Belgium turn to the undulating hills of northern France.

Once in Paris for your tour of France , you arrive at Montparnasse where your private transfer helps you get situated at your centrally located hotel. The City of Lights has an undeniable energy stemming from its vibrant past and unforgettable architecture.

In the afternoon, you can stop in at Angelina, known as Audrey Hepburn’s favorite café in Paris, and famous for its decadent hot chocolate. Whether dining in the classic décor with polished tile floors and dangling chandeliers, or taking your hot chocolate and black currant macaroons into the Tuileries Garden to sit by fountains and listen to the soothing trickle of the water your day will feel complete.

Paris – Embracing the Seine

When the sunlight brushes over Paris, the entire city comes back to life. The glow of the evening fades away, replaced by the tranquil current of the Seine River coursing through the city. Houseboats anchor against the cobblestone walkways bordering the waterway. The scent of freshly baked croissants practically fills the city.

At breakfast, you can sip on a frothy cappuccino and people watch, like the Parisian’s do, until you feel read to explore. The day is yours to revel in the treasured city at your pace, taking in the beauty of the architecture and indulgent flavors of the cuisine at your whim and desire.

The Arc de Triomphe stands at the edge of renowned Champs Elysee, at the center of a large roundabout. The massive structure was completed in 1836 and contains larger than life reliefs decorating the sides. The inside walls contain 660 names commemorating those who defended the First French Empire. One of the most notable friezes is known as La Marseillaise, “The Departure of the Volunteers of 1792.” France is depicted as a winged woman leading her people into a battle for freedom, a visual interpretation of the national anthem. No matter where you wander to in the city, it always feels like you have found a captivating monument and a quiet gem meant just for you.

Paris – Indulging in an Indulgent City

The aroma of butter blends in with the flaky crust of a morning croissant. The city comes to life around Montparnasse and people wander along the streets past the façade of the popular Shakespeare and Company Bookstore near Notre-Dame. The day is yours to relish the wonders of Paris, taking time to truly experience the city.

There are few better ways to dive into the luscious culture of Paris than with a cooking class, learning how to recreate some of the dishes that entice chefs, foodies, and gourmet travelers from around the world. Your class takes you up into the hillside of Montmartre where the Bohemian lifestyle thrived during the Belle Epoc, and continues to filter through the storefronts in the shadow of the pearly façade of Sacre Coeur. The sweet aroma of delicious desserts drifts from the state-of-the-art kitchen hidden inside a classic façade.

You meet your personal chef who is passionate about French cuisine. The atmosphere is relaxed but informative. Your chef explains the ingredients and their importance. You follow her lead through the process of mixing almond meal and confectioner’s sugar, along with beating egg whites until they become frothy. In the end, you have produced a rainbow of macaroons, each one a sumptuous flavor.

Paris – A Palatial Allure

The strawberry and raspberry flavors of your macaroons linger in your thoughts in the morning light. You can’t help but think of tasting your macaroon and looking out over the encompassing view of Paris from the Montmartre hillside. After breakfast, your guide meets you at the hotel and escorts you about 12 miles southwest of the city to the extravagant Palace of Versailles. A gravel forecourt leads from the wrought iron gate to the lavish, almost golden yellow façade.

The tiled floors have a polished sheen. Many of the walls have gilded edges. The Hall of Mirrors has 17 mirror-clad arches reflecting the 17 windows that look out to the immense gardens totaling over 56 acres of land. Marble pillars frame the mirrors, each adorned with a symbolic depiction of France. Gold tinted statues hold up light fixtures intermittently between chandeliers. The painted ceiling glistens with a gold tint when the light ushers in through the windows and is reflected in the mirrors.

Paris – Classics Carry On

The sun rises over the Eiffel Tower, and you can’t help but think of the glittering décor of the Hall of Mirrors and the staggering fountains in the Gardens of Versailles. People crowd Marché aux Puces de St. Ouen on the weekend. The area covers 17 acres with over 3,000 traders selling antiques, from jewelry to furniture and even a collection of records.

Soon your private transfer will meet you at the hotel and take you to the Charles De Gaulle Airport for your flight home. For now, you can sit back and savor the timeless charm of Paris.

When my mom and sister revealed their zealous plans for their 15-day London, Paris, Rome Itinerary, I was curious how they planned their European trip (and, to be honest, I was skeptical that they would be able to pull it off). Creating a 15 Days in Europe Itinerary to these top three cities is no easy feat.

Although we have visited all three destinations over multiple trips, we have never been to all three in a short two weeks. Intrigued by their ambitiously planned London, Paris, Rome tour, I wanted to know exactly how they devised their route and the details of their day-by-day itinerary.

Why Plan a London, Paris Rome Trip?

A London, Paris, Rome vacation is a bucket list trip. These cities rank as top worldwide destinations – alongside places like New York City , San Francisco and Bangkok . The difference is that London, Paris and Rome are relatively close together, which allows travelers to see all three in a short amount of time…but only with a solid trip plan.

Unlike me, who wants to travel to eternity, my family approached their trip as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit these cities. It would be Tracy’s (my sister) first trip to Europe and Dianne’s (my mom) second trip (although, it would be her first time to London and Rome). They packed their 15-Day London, Paris, Rome Itinerary to the brim…and then heaped on a bit more for good measure.

London, Paris, Rome Itinerary: Pre-Trip Preparation

Pre-trip preparation is key to planning a trip to London, Paris and Italy – and they shared some of the steps they took to ensure their trip went off without a hitch.

How did you decide where to go and how much time to spend in each place?

Our European vacation was nearly three years in the making. A year and a half prior to the trip, we started checking out travel books from the library. Tracy read them cover-to-cover. Eight months out, we began researching flights. Five months prior to departure, we were booking accommodations.

We discussed our itinerary at length. We were constrained by Tracy’s limited time off work, but were determined to fit as much as we possibly could into our trip. We focused on the must-see cities and their best-known sights.

We originally created a London, Paris Italy Itinerary that included Florence and Venice. However, in the planning stages, we felt the time we would have to spend actually traveling between the cities was too much. We settled on Europe’s Big Three: London, Paris and Rome – with five nights in each city.

What luggage did you carry? Were you happy with what you packed?

We debated whether a backpack or suitcase would be better to tour London, Paris, Rome. Although I have traveled through Europe with a backpack before, we decided to use roller suitcases for this trip. We each had one large checked roller bag and a carry-on backpack. Our carry-on backpacks served as a daypack as we explored the cities.

We knew our 15-Day London, Paris, Rome Itinerary was ambitious and wanted to make sure we were as prepared as possible, so we ended up bringing things that we didn’t use. In our packing list , we packed too many shirts and warmer clothes (as we traveled in the autumn) and a lot of just-in-case medications. However, we are still glad we had them with us and wouldn’t have left anything behind.

Did you buy or use any specific travel gadgets or guides?

We purchased adapters and a converter. The adapters were essential, but the converter did not work properly and it turned out we didn’t really need one.

We always used our money belts and bra stashes and were glad we purchased them for our trip. Since we are not seasoned travelers, it made us feel more safe to have our money and important documents with us at all times and concealed beneath our clothing.

The guide book we used was Rick Steves’ Best of Europe . We tore out and carried only the information we needed for the cities we were visiting.

Of the entire trip, what were you most looking forward to?

We were really intent on checking off all the sights on our list. It might end up being my (Dianne’s) last trip and Tracy’s only trip to Europe. We didn’t want to miss a single sight that appealed to us.

London, Paris, Rome: Experiences By City

Travelers who plan a 2-Week London, Paris, Rome Itinerary will want to consider what they want to experience in each city.

What London sights did you see?

The British Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Tower of London, The Monument, Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, Thames River Cruise, Greenwich (Royal Observatory and Maritime Museum), Big Ben, Westminster Bridge, London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Soho, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Houses of Parliament (and viewed sessions), 10 Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Covent Garden, Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park (including the Princess Diana Memorial), Wellington Arch, Westminster Cathedral and the National Library.

We did not see the Natural History Museum or walk Abbey Road. We could not Visit The Sky Garden because, while it is free to enter, prior reservations are required and we hadn’t made them.

What was the food like in London?

We ate a variety of food in London , from high tea to street food. We most enjoyed the food in Chinatown. Our high tea experience (which included sandwiches, sweets and a prosecco finish) was one of our most memorable dining experiences.

Where did you stay in London?

We stayed at the European Hotel for its close proximity to King’s Cross Station (which provided access to the entire city and even the Chunnel to Paris). The hotel offered a complimentary traditional English breakfast that included a lot of protein, which was a nice way to start the day. The rooms were much smaller than we had anticipated…and the bathroom was shockingly small, but sufficient. Also, the electricity and wifi were sometimes unreliable.

Any other recommendations for London?

The best way to see a lot of the city in an economical way is to purchase a weekly National Train paper pass. It allows visitors to use 2-for-1 vouchers for all the major sights – as well as transportation on the Tube and buses.

What were your highlights of London?

The Tower of London (with the Beefeater’s Tour), Kensington Palace and high tea.

Paris, France

Sacre Coeur Basilica in Paris, France

What sights did you see in Paris?

Musee du Louvre, Tuileries Garden, Musee d’Orsay, Musee de l’Orangerie, Place de la Concorde, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Versailles Chateau and Gardens (including the Grand and Petit Trianons of Marie-Antoinette’s Estate), Moulin Rouge (including a show), Notre Dame Cathedral and Tower, Sainte Chapelle, Conciergerie, The Latin Quarter, The Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, St. Sulpice Church, Seine River Tour, Trocadero Gardens, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, Parc du Champs de Mars, Hotel des Invalides (Tomb of Napoleon), Musee Rodin, Montmartre, Sacre-Coeur, Pigalle (red light district) and Saint-Martin Canal.

What was the food like in Paris?

We ate quick food on-the-go a lot in Paris. Our favorite place to grab breakfast and lunch was at Paul, a bakery which has multiple locations. We had street crepes a few times and especially liked the Nutella crepes at Montmartre.

The Saint-Martin Canal neighborhood offered a wide variety of quaint cafes and restaurants. Our two favorite meals in the area were a savory buckwheat crepe at Lulu’s Creperies and a wild boar and chestnut stew at La Patache.

Where did you stay in Paris?

We stayed in a charming flat in an old building on the Saint-Martin Canal, which we found through Airbnb . It was nice to have the extra space and a washer/dryer (as we needed to do laundry by then!). It was well-situated in a residential neighborhood, but close to Gare de l’Est where we could access the Metro.

Any other recommendations for Paris?

We highly recommend the Paris Museum Pass (not to be confused with the Paris Pass). It offers entry into all the major sights in and around Paris at a reasonable cost. With the pass, we could enter certain sights to see just the highlights and not feel like we had to stay to get our money’s worth.

The best value for transportation around Paris is the weekly (calendar week only Monday through Sunday) Navigo Pass, which was good for the Metro, buses and trains (even the train to Versailles and the airport!).

What were your highlights of Paris?

Sainte Chappelle, Conciergerie, Musee Rodin, and the Tower of Notre Dame.

Rome, Italy

St. Peter's Basilica on St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, Rome, Italy

What sights did you see in Rome?

Piazza del Popolo, Villa Borghese Gardens, Villa Medici, Circus Maximus, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Victor Emmanuel and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. John Lateran, Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs), Capitoline Museum, Bocca della Verita, Trastevere neighborhood, Piazza Santa Maria, Basilica di Santa Maria, Tiber Island, the Old Jewish neighborhood, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona.

We did not make it to Ostia Antica nor Ostia di Lido (the beach on the Mediterranean).

What was the food like in Rome?

Hello Gelato! We ate gelato every day, because when in Rome… We also ate a lot of pizza, both at sidewalk cafes and where they scissor-cut the slices and sell them by weight.

Our best meal was at a little family-run restaurant in the Trastevere neighborhood. The chef used family recipes that had been handed-down through several generations.

Where did you stay in Rome?

We stayed in a small B&B in a very safe neighborhood, Salario, on the north side of the city. It was recently renovated and spacious. However, due to our delayed flight and unclear directions to the B&B, our late arrival (after midnight) resulted in a deplorable welcome from the host. Unfortunately, encounters like that are carried throughout the rest of the stay and sadly gave us a negative impression of Romans in general.

Any other recommendations for Rome?

What we would NOT recommend is the OMNIA Pass. We thought it would speed up our sightseeing by eliminating standing in long lines, but it never worked out that way. It was expensive ($109), included things we didn’t use and although it promised front-of-line entry, required longer waiting times than those with regular entry tickets.

Alternatively, we could have purchased the combo pass to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill (Cost: $13.50) from the shortest ticket lines at the Palatine Hill entrance on Via di San Gregorio and then we could skip the ticket line at the Colosseum.

In addition, we could have bought our ticket to the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, online (Cost: $22) and skipped the lines there, too. (The OMNIA Pass could possibly be to an advantage in the high season, though).

What were your highlights of Rome?

St. Peter’s Basilica and the many ruins throughout the city, although the most impressive were those at the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. We really enjoyed the time we spent walking through the Rome neighborhoods and piazzas.

European Trip Thoughts

Before planning your London, Paris, Rome tour, these are a few things you might want to consider.

How much did you spend on your European Trip? Did you have a budget? Did you stick to it?

The total cost of our trip was $2550 each, just $50 more than we had budgeted. That amount includes everything we spent during our vacation – the flight and all transportation abroad, accommodations, food, drink, tours, passes, entertainment, souvenirs…everything!

We researched and carefully determined how to do our trip on a budget without missing any of the sights we wanted to see. For hardcore sightseers, like us, we found the city passes to the sights and public transportation passes to be quite beneficial financially.

We also were able to find entertainment deals on major websites (like Viator  and Get Your Guide ). We weren’t on a mission to spend as little as possible, but we were budget conscious and feel that the price we paid was well-worth the trip.

It should be noted that we found majorly discounted airline tickets from Toronto rather than from our home city in the United States. Therefore, we tacked on a mini-vacation to Canada on each end of our European trip, which is also included in the total cost of the trip (which, all-inclusive, was still less than if we had paid the more expensive airfare from our home city).

What about your European Trip exceeded your expectations?

We were pleasantly surprised that everything went pretty much according to plan, but perhaps that is because we were so diligent in our planning. The specific sights that exceeded our expectations (although, not necessarily top-of-the-list things to do) are:

London – The British Library, the National Gallery, House of Commons session, afternoon tea

Paris – Sainte Chapelle, Musee Rodin, Conciergerie

Rome – Palatine Hill, Capitoline Museum

What were your biggest disappointments on your European Trip?

London – Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace. We spent too much time there and even though we arrived an hour and half before the event, we were unable to get close enough to really see. While standing in the sea of people, we felt like prime targets for pickpockets!

Paris – The interior of Versailles Chateau. It was over-crowded with a lot of people elbowing their way through. The rooms everyone was pushing to see were pretty, but not all that impressive to us for the hassle involved in seeing them. However, the Mesdames section, the gardens and the Trianons were worth seeing.

Rome – The Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. After spending several hours in the Vatican Museum, we were underwhelmed by the time we got to the Sistine Chapel. The small area was packed and a booming voice coming from speakers reminded guests that pictures were not allowed (although many blatantly disregarded the message and took photos anyway, which we thought was quite rude). We were expecting to be wowed, but instead felt like cattle being corralled. It wasn’t the experience we were anticipating.

What did you find difficult about traveling in Europe?

The language barrier in Paris and Rome made communication in those cities trying, especially as we were there for such a short time and had a full itinerary planned.

Rome was also an extremely difficult city to get around in using public transportation. The buses were always crowded and the Metro stations were few and far between. It would have been better if we had stayed closer to the sights or near a Metro station.

What was easier than you thought it would be?

The lines to get into the sights were not as long as we had anticipated. Of course, it helped that we were traveling in the shoulder season (mid-October).

What would you have done differently on your Trip To Europe?

We would have planned our travel between cities for early morning as it would have made getting acquainted with the new city much easier. More specifically, we would not again plan to arrive to a city after dark.

Also, it would have been extremely beneficial to have been able to use our mobile phones. We should have purchased an international data plan or purchased a WiFi pocket device for our time abroad so that we could have used them when we really needed to.

Additionally, we wish we had planned more time to simply walk the neighborhoods, relax in the parks and piazzas and enjoy people-watching from the cafes.

Top Tips For Your London, Paris, Rome Trip

Planning a 15 Day Europe Itinerary to London, Paris and Rome is not an easy task. Although we have outlined a detailed trip plan, we have a few more tips that will help make planning your trip to Europe just a little bit easier.

City Sightseeing Passes

City sightseeing passes can offer substantial savings for travelers who want to visit the top ticketed attractions. London, Paris and Rome all offer a variety of sightseeing pass options (and some are better than others).

London Sightseeing Passes

The National Rail 2-for-1 vouchers are a fabulous way to see London sights on a budget …unless you are traveling solo (or with an odd number of people) and not using public transportation. The London Pass is another city pass that might save you money.

In lieu of using public transportation, consider getting around London using Big Bus Tours , which makes stops at all the top London attractions.

Paris Museum Pass

We highly recommend buying the Paris Museum Pass while sightseeing in Paris , as we think it is well worth the money and added bonus of skipping the line.

Alternatively, look at the Paris Pass , which includes the Paris Hop-On Hop-Off Bus and free public transportation, and might provide savings for your Paris trip .

Rome Sightseeing Tips

We have yet to find a Rome sightseeing pass that we can recommend, as they don’t seem to offer the convenience and savings promised. Instead of spending money on a pass like OMNIA , organize your Rome sightseeing on your own.

Use the money you saved from buying a city pass and join a guided tour of the sights that are of most interest to you, like St. Peter’s Basilica , the  Vatican Museum , or the Colosseum . To get around the city, use the Rome Big Bus , public transportation or walk.

As stated before, save time and money by purchasing the combo pass to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill (Cost: $13.50) from the shortest ticket lines at the Palatine Hill entrance on Via di San Gregorio and then use your combo ticket to skip the ticket line at the Colosseum. Additionally, buy your ticket to the Vatican Museums , including the Sistine Chapel, online and skip the lines there, too.

Where To Stay in Europe

Choosing the type of accommodations and where to stay for a 2-week, multicity European trip can feel overwhelming. With 5 days in each city, travelers can opt to stay in a hotel, but a short-term apartment might be a better option.

The main factors to consider when making your decision are location, cost, ease of check in, cleanliness and comfort. For any short stay in a city, location is key. It is optimal to be either in the city center or close to a public transit line.

Airbnb in Europe

In general, we have found that staying in apartments is often less expensive than hotel rooms – but that is not always true with short stays where fees can add up in a hurry. However, it may be worth it for the added benefit of a kitchen and, usually, more space. Airbnb is our go-to site for finding the best Europe holiday apartments.

Europe Hotels

That said, we would not discount staying in hotels. At most hotels in Europe, the front desk staff speaks English and – with long days of sightseeing – a kitchen may not be necessary. When looking for hotels in London , Paris and Rome , we always start our search on Booking.com . Budget travelers can search for Hostels in London , Paris and Rome .

Pro Tip: Before you get started, read our top tips for Booking the Best Hotels .

All three cities – London, Paris, Rome – are easily accessible via plane, train, bus or car.

Our preferred method of getting anywhere is by flying (we are JetSetting Fools, after all!) and when we do need to purchase plane tickets, we start our search for the best deals on airline tickets on Skyscanner .

Pro Tip: Read all our Tips for Cheaper Airfare .

Getting Around Europe

To get from city to city when flights are not possible, we usually rely on public transportation and take trains or buses. In Europe, we use Rail Europe to find train tickets and our preferred bus company is FlixBus – as it is economical, clean and comfortable (sometimes with on-board wifi, seat-back entertainment, refreshments and a toilet).

Renting a Car in Europe

For this Rome, Paris, London Itinerary, it is not necessary to rent a car. In fact, when bouncing between any big cities in Europe, it is best to use public transit. However, for travelers interested in seeing sights outside the city center,  renting a car can often save time and money (especially when traveling with more than two people).

Top Tip: We share tips for getting the Best Car Rental here .

Before You Go To Europe: What You Will Need

We have a few final tips on what you will need for your London, Paris and Rome trip! You can find our Packing Hacks and other advice on our dedicated Travel Packing blog page.

Comfortable Walking Shoes

Anyone planning a 2-Week Trip to London, Paris and Rome will need a good pair of walking shoes to most comfortably see the sights. The best travel shoes are lightweight and comfortable. I like wearing versatile sneakers , while Kris prefers Merrell trail shoes .

Travel Camera

We’re certain you’ll be snapping tons of photos during your trip. Rather than relying on your mobile phone to capture the sights, upgrade to an actual travel camera for higher quality photos. We travel with a Canon Rebel (which takes amazing photos and is a great budget camera for beginners!) – and use an everyday 18-135mm lens .

Maps and Guidebooks

It’s easy to get turned around in any foreign city! Make sure to have a good city map for London , Paris and Rome . Additionally, some travelers (like my mom and sister) like to use a trusted guidebook – like Rick Steves’ Europe .

European Trip Insurance

Travel insurance may cover lost luggage and trip delays, as well as illness or injured abroad . If you haven’t already obtained travel insurance for your trip to Europe, consider traveling protected with World Nomads .

Map for the Amsterdam, Paris & London tour

Board your overnight flight bound for London. Your adventure begins tomorrow, so sit back, shut your eyes, and do as the English do and try and catch some “zeds.”

Welcome to London. Home of the royal fam, tea, a wonderfully different form of the English language, and the largest city in Western Europe. Brimming with history and unique architecture, you’ll soon understand why it’s one of the most visited cities in the world.

In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner of local cuisine and drinks with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot. Afterwards, you’re free to take the party elsewhere!

Today's highlights:

  • Land at the airport and meet a waiting EF representative.
  • Transfer to your hotel to check in and check out your room.
  • Get familiar with the area around your hotel with an introductory walk with your Tour Director including the River Thames, Trafalgar & Leicester Squares, and Convent Garden.

Go big and go British today as a local guide takes you all around town for the inside scoop on London’s iconic palaces, churches, castles, and yes, even a big old clock.

  • Dive into thousands of years of London’s secrets with a local guide.
  • Immerse yourself in London’s rich history at gorgeous landmarks from the Tower of London and St. Paul’s Cathedral to Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.
  • Experience a royal ritual during the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace.
  • Wave hello to Big Ben, the bell inside the famous clock tower.

Free time suggestions

Abbey Road: Want to walk in the literal footsteps of greatness? Head over to this famous thoroughfare and make your way to its southeastern end. There you’ll find the studio where the Beatles recorded their final studio album and the crosswalk they made famous with its cover. Harrods: You don’t have to buy a ticket to get into the world’s most famous department store, but once you’re inside, all bets are off. At over a million square feet with 330 departments, its motto of “all things for all people, everywhere” makes complete sense.

Ride Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel for panoramic views before enjoying a traditional English tea. This excursion is  pre-book  only; if your trip is less than fourteen days away, please call 800-766-2645 to purchase.

Use this free day to check out and check off anything you may have missed in one of the world’s greatest cities. Dive in and act like you belong with some local slang, try some famous fare (looking at you fish and chips), and explore until you’re too knackered (tired) to continue.

The British Museum: Discover over 2 million years of human history at this free museum. With over 8 million objects and counting, it is one of the largest and most comprehensive collections in existence—so don’t expect to see it all. Westminster Abbey: This historic, royal church is the traditional place of coronation and burial for British monarchs. The mainly Gothic façade leads to a gorgeous array of paintings, stained glass, and artifacts. Get yourself a ticket and you’ll be treated to more than just a house of worship.

Bonjour, France! Today you’ll take an underwater train ride to the City of Light, also known as the capital and most populous city in France. Get ready to feast on croissants, baguettes, and any other deliciousness you can get your hands on while enjoying every moment as a temporary Parisian.

  • Follow your Tour Director on a walking tour of the city and its sights including the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral.
  • Float down the River Seine during a scenic boat ride that makes its way through the true heart of the city.
  • Watch the world-famous lights of the Eiffel Tower sparkle (every hour, on the hour after sunset).

Take the best bus ride of your life on this guided bus tour around Paris. See famous sights like the Arc de Triomphe, explore on foot during a couple of planned stops, and hope that there’s enough time to stop by Le Marais—the trendiest shopping area in the city.

Please note: The Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays. If Day 6 falls on a Monday for your departure, this optional will take place on Day 7.

  • Saunter along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Known for its theatres and cafes—you may also recognize it as the finish line of the Tour de France.
  • Get the inside scoop on Parisian culture from fashion to snails for dinner, learn about it all.
  • Find inspiration from the local fashionistas, royals, revolutionaries, and intellectuals that shaped the City of Light.

Moulin Rouge: The original version of this famed cabaret burned down in 1915, but the birthplace of the modern can-can dance lives on. Just look for the large red windmill on the roof, buy yourself a ticket, and then send your friends the pics to prove it. Montmartre: Once an artists’ village and the stomping grounds of Picasso and Dalí, this charming hilltop district is now home to numerous nightclubs and the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur. Walk its steep, winding streets for sweeping views of the city below.

Versailles (extra cost)

Walk through the landscaped gardens, and tour the living quarters of the famous over-the-top palace of Louis XIV. This is where French royalty reveled in their extravagant lifestyle in the decades before the Revolution. Please note: The Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays. In the event that the itinerary day containing this optional lands on a Monday for your departure, the optional will take place the following day. This excursion is  pre-book  only; if your trip is less than thirty days away, please call 800-766-2645 to purchase.

Oui! A free day to wander the city of love. Get inspired, get lost, and get your fill of new foods like coq au vin (chicken braised with wine). At over 40 square miles there’s always something new to discover, so keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready.

Catacombs of Paris: Dare to step through the “Gate of Hell” on your way below the city streets and you’ll be greeted by walls of stacked skulls and bones of past Parisians. Once only considered a novelty, this absolutely eerie attraction is now designated as an official museum. The Louvre: Once the home of French kings and now the largest art museum in the world, this astounding collection of art from around the world is not to be missed. From the Palace to the glass Pyramid to the Mona Lisa itself, you’ll be surrounded by history and beauty at every turn.

Trade croissants for canals, you’re on your way to Amsterdam. Arrive by train at the elegant, Renaissance Revival-style Centraal Station. Then it’s off to explore the city that’s home to the Van Gogh Museum, the infamous Red Light District, and a boatload of floating houses.

  • Add another stamp to your passport as you arrive at the ‘Venice of the North.’
  • Join a local guide for a walking tour of the city that includes stops at Damrak and Neumarkt Squares.
  • Find your way to the narrow canals and streets of the trendy Jordaan neighborhood for indie boutiques, hip eateries, and antiques galore.

Anne Frank: Explore the life and times of Anne Frank in this preserved canal side house-turned-museum. See the secret annex where Anne, and her brave family, hid from Nazi persecution during WWII. But plan ahead, tickets have to be purchased months in advance. Bloemenmarkt: Looking for flowers? Head to what was once the only floating flower market in the world. Today, you’ll find it bobbing on the city’s southern canal belt selling fresh flowers, gifts, and an assortment of the famously pretty Dutch tulip bulbs.

Take advantage of your free day in one of the most diverse and bike friendly cities on the planet. Walk or ride across the countless bridges, wonder what it’s like to live in a houseboat, and maybe even stop by one of the coffeeshops that don’t just sell coffee.

Heineken Experience: Whether you’re a big beer fan or just thirsty, this is a stop you’ll want to make. Once the main brewery for this green bottled beer and now a museum, you’ll take a self-guided interactive tour to learn the history of this brew before getting to enjoy two of your own. Poffertjes and Herring: You’ve heard of chicken and waffles, but what about pancakes and fish? No, not together, but we do recommend trying them both. Nibble small, fluffy pancakes called Poffertjes, try some fresh herring, served raw with onion. Van Gogh Museum: Enter the world of Vincent Van Gogh at this museum dedicated to his life and work. The quintessential tortured artist and arguably the greatest of the post-impressionists, if you’re an art lover—buying a ticket is a must.

Farewell Dinner Share some last laughs and revisit the best moments of the trip at this included farewell dinner with the group.

Dutch Countryside Bike Tour (extra cost)

Bike like a local into the stunning Dutch countryside. Ride through rural landscapes past picturesque windmills and 17th century villages, then enjoy pancakes and a drink in the quaint Waterland region by the sea. Why wait? Save money by booking this optional excursion before your trip departs.

Dag vrienden! Your next destination awaits—home. Before you head to the airport, make sure to take one more group photo and grab that final drink. But this isn’t goodbye because you can always get the gang back together for another trip soon. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, we have a couple ways to keep your vacation going.

EXTEND YOUR TRIP 2 WAYS 1. Double the fun A lot of our trips line up back to back! Give us a call—we can help you add another and save big while you're at it. 2.

If you do not see your driver, please be patient and stay in the arrivals area. They may be assisting another traveler who has also just arrived and will be back shortly.

Please keep in mind that trains may only be stopping at the stations for a few minutes; speed with loading and unloading may be imperative

  • We recommend packing a reusable water bottle to cut down on single use plastic waste.
  • We recommend packing a universal adapter, as well as a voltage converter if you plan on using your own hairdryer or other device without a built-in converter.
  • We recommend packing your Insurance Card (from your primary insurance provider) in your carry on luggage.

  • For traditional English fare at a reasonable price, try a pub meal of fish and chips or bangers and mash. Stilton cheese, steak and kidney pie, and Cumberland sausages are also worth a try. Sip afternoon tea with delicious finger sandwiches and scones at Harrods in London for the ultimate in English tradition.
  • Modern-day London boasts an array of diverse international restaurants. Popular options for the adventurous palate include Indian, Thai, Chinese, Indonesian, Greek, and West African cuisine.
  • For a picnic with French flair, stop at a small grocery store for cheeses, pâtés, cured meats, fresh-baked bread, and fruit.
  • Roman food is typically freshly prepared and varies depending on the season. Must-try bites include cacio e pepe (a simple dish of pasta, cheese and pepper) and supplí (a fried rice ball similar to Sicily's arancini).
  • For more authentic meals, try local trattorias, small restaurants set away from the main piazzas. A typical Italian meal includes wines and the occasional beer, followed by a few sips of after-dinner drinks like grappa or limoncello.
  • In Spain, on the tour extension, breakfast like a local with just a pastry and coffee. Then, tuck into a three-course lunch featuring a Spanish staple like savory seafood paella or grilled meat and fried potatoes. Dinner is less hearty than lunch and is served late, between 9pm and midnight. Snack on small plates called tapas any time of day.
  • At the conclusion of your tour, it is customary to offer your Tour Director and driver a gratuity in local currency.
  • If you are traveling to multiple countries with different currencies and the same Tour Director, ask them what currency they prefer for their tip.
  • The cost of porterage is included in your tour price, and it is not necessary to tip baggage handlers.
  • You will use the Pound sterling in the United Kingdom and the euro in France and Italy (and Spain on the tour extension).
  • Plan ahead and bring cash to tip your tour director, local guides, and bus drivers. We also recommend keeping coins in the local currency on hand, as some public bathrooms may charge a fee for use.

  • There is no Wifi on any of the motor coaches.
  • Please contact your mobile service provider for information on roaming charges.
  • Your Tour Director will be leading your group throughout your journey. You will have the same Tour Director throughout your tour.
  • The role of the Tour Director is not only to provide information and context on the destinations you visit, but also to confirm services, coordinate inclusions, prepare each days’ activities and support travelers while on tour. As such, they must focus on the success of the group, and cannot provide individualized assistance to any one traveler.

In addition, the team is dedicated to supporting and facilitating communication between travelers and families in the event of an emergency while on the road or at home.
  • The United Kingdom is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET).
  • France and Italy (and Spain on the tour extension) are 1 hour ahead of GMT and 6 hours ahead of ET.
  • When it’s noon in New York, it’s 5pm in the United Kingdom and 6pm in France and Italy (and Spain on the tour extension).
  • When you travel with EF Go Ahead Tours, you’ll make a positive impact on the places you visit, and the people and animals you meet along the way. • Travel, when done responsibly, can make an enormous socio-economic impact to communities. To maximize your impact, eat at locally owned restaurants and shop at local businesses. Ask your Tour Director to point out restaurants they recommend.
  • Prepare for your trip: be aware of the monetary norms such as tipping and negotiating in a market, learn about the destination’s forms of etiquette, and take some time to learn a few words in the local language.
  • When interacting with locals, make sure to ask people for permission before you take their picture, and approach cultural differences with empathy and an open mind.
  • EF Go Ahead Tours encourages our travelers to limit their waste while on the road, especially single use plastics. You can avoid single use plastics by packing your own toiletries, using electronic documents, and bringing a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. If you need to use plastics or paper, please recycle.
  • Environment: On this tour, we recommend the use of a reusable water bottle, as the local drinking water is safe for travelers. Your Tour Director can provide additional guidance on local water standards. Make sure to bring a reusable water bottle to cut down on single use plastics.

Paris is regarded as one of the most dynamic cities in Europe, and for good reason: the city assaults the senses; demanding to be seen, heard, touched, tasted, and smelled. Gaze at impressive monuments and savor its gourmet cheeses, chocolates, wines, and seafood. Paris is relatively small as capitals go, with many of its major sights and museums within walking distance of each other. A world of discovery awaits in every hidden corner and at all the famous sites, there is so much to explore. Visit the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Jardin des Tuileries, Latin Quarter, Avenue des Champs Elysees, Musee d'Orsay, Place de la Concorde, Arc de Triomphe and so much more!

With sumptuous palaces and romantic waterways, Venice is straight out of an 18th-century Canaletto masterpiece. No matter how many times you have seen it in movies or TV commercials, the real thing is more surreal and dreamlike than you ever imagined. Its landmarks, the Basilica di San Marco and the Palazzo Ducale are exotic melanges of Byzantine, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. It is full of secrets, ineffably romantic, and - at times - given over entirely to pleasure. You must walk everywhere in Venice and where you cannot walk, you go by water. Explore Piazza San Marco, Stroll Across the Rialto Bridge, Get Lost in the Endless Canals, Admire the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute, Visit the San Giorgio dei Greci, Walk Around the Jewish Ghetto, Learn About Venice's Musical History, Tour Venice's Unique Architecture at Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Celebrate One of Venice' Many Festivals, Go Window Shopping, and so much more.

We will soon leave our hotel in the Rhine Valley , where we will board a riverboat in Rhine Valley, and enjoy a refreshing drink on our complimentary cruise. From St Goar to Boppard, sail down the Rhine River to your hotel and enjoy the view as you pass.

This historic region boasts many castles, hills, vineyards, and German medieval cities. Why not take a relaxing stroll along the river this evening, after a delicious German dinner, or enjoy the hospitality of the locals?

German food is usually mischievous and hearty. You may have the opportunity to try saurkraut (fermented cabbage), sauerbraten (beef sausages marinated in vinegar before cooking), or schweinbraten (beer roast pork, usually wheat beer) at dinner this evening. There will be a vegetarian alternative, too.

Day 9: Rhine Valley – Amsterdam

Amsterdam Canals

The Dutch cheese-making tradition goes all the way back to the Roman era. Typical Dutch varieties like Gouda, Edam, Maasdammer (a nutty cheese with large holes), Boerenkaas (raw milk cheese), goat’s cheese, smoked cheese, and Frisian clove cheese (made with cumin and cloves) can be tried at the cheese-making demonstration.

See the city float by as you sail along, and listen to your tour guide for tips and insightful insights into the city. These canals and huge harbor, reclaimed from the sea, give a truly unique way to see some of the highlights of the region. Why not join your tour guide afterward for a walking tour of the notorious Red Light Area? Explore the canals and Dam Square and enjoy your time in this fascinating place.

Day 10: Amsterdam – Bruges – London

Already the last day of your European tour ! We bid farewell to Amsterdam after breakfast and make our way back to London via the Belgian city of Bruges .

Renowned for its beer, waffles, chocolate, and Moules et Frites, this is definitely a great place to be if your appetite is brought. An incredibly common medieval town with no lack of cobblestone streets, historic old churches, and elevated towers , this is a perfect town to visit and a decent place to pick up some last-minute souvenirs. It’s back to the coach for the final leg of our journey back to London, once you’ve had a look around.
