Captain Parker Bambenek is a US Coast Guard Licensed Captain and MN licensed Fishing Guide for Lake Superior.  Captain Parker has fished out of Duluth on Lake Superior for lake trout, salmon, and walleye for over 15 years.  “Growing up in Duluth has given me an advantage of learning how to fish the lake any time of the year.”

Would you like to fish for Lake Trout, Salmon, and Walleye on the cold clear waters of Lake Superior?  Duluth has been one of the Midwest’s top sport-fishing destinations for anglers since the 70’s. We pride ourselves in being the oldest and largest charter fishing company on Western Lake Superior. Our 6 custom rigged, 32 1/2 foot Marinette cruisers, are available seven days a week, May thru September. We can accommodate large company groups, families, and couples. Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate with their families for a fun time on the lake. Seniors and veterans are always welcome. We have accommodations for the handicapped. Our staff is well trained and experience We work together as a team, to provide you and your guests with the best possible experience.

Customer service is our first priority!.  We offer the best value in the Duluth, Superior area. Lake Superior is a “big lake” and there is no substitute for “Large” well equipped boats with experienced professional captains. In a few months Spring Coho Salmon and Lake Trout fishing will begin. At Superior Experience Charters, we strive to make your trip up the North Shore exciting and memorable! We offer a variety of outdoor experiences from mild to wild and we’re adding new adventures all the time. If you’ve got a thirst for adventure and a passion for the outdoors, we’ve got a trip for you!

Lake Superior Charters

If you’ve ever wanted to take your own boat on Lake Superior and try your hand at fishing but didn’t know where to start, this is the perfect introduction to big-lake fishing. We fish out of a walleye-style boat; the kind that most anglers have at home. And it’s all hands on. Captain Coho Joe will show you how to rig the lines and after that, you’re welcome to give it a try. On most charter boats, you just reel in the fish when it’s your turn. We don’t see the fun in that. We want to make you an active participant. You’ll rig lines, reel in fish and get an earful of tips and information on how and where to find fish on Lake Superior. This lake is like no other. Temperatures can change rapidly, fish relate to open water and trying to find them over miles of water can seem daunting. We give you tips on where to find fish, advice on which equipment is best and information on all the things you’ll need for safety and legal compliance when fishing Lake Superior. Plus, we have the ability to trailer to where the bite is hot. We’re not stuck in one port. We’ll predominantly be targeting lake trout and possibly coho salmon, but we may also catch king salmon, pink salmon, steelhead, brown trout or even a rare walleye.  We’re currently limiting this trip to 2 or possibly 3 anglers. It’s a more affordable option than a large charter boat, and with fewer anglers, you get more turns to reel in fish! Be advised, however, that Lake Superior is no place to mess around. There are days when it’s simply not safe to take a small boat on the lake. We understand this fully. If the captain deems it unsafe, we’ll refund your deposit or try to reschedule. Fish cleaning is included. This is rapidly becoming our most popular trip!

Muskie Fishing

This is what started it all. We began guiding in 2013 as Muskie Doom Guide Service and we’ve been expanding ever since. We run very specialized muskie fishing trips. Our trips are catered to beginners. We especially love taking people who have catching a muskie on their bucket list, people who are thinking about getting into muskie fishing but want to give it a try before buying lots of expensive gear or kids who love to fish but are looking for a bigger challenge than panfish, bass and walleyes. When it comes to muskie fishing, there are two kinds of waters: trophy lakes and numbers lakes. We fish numbers lakes. These are lakes where you’re not going to catch a giant muskie, but you have a very good chance of catching something in the 30- to 40-inch range. On trophy waters, you may fish all day and only encounter one or two fish. On our trips, it’s common to see several fish each day. You’ll have follows and get chances to practice a figure 8 on actual fish. Our very best numbers lake is in Minnesota, but we also guide in northern Wisconsin on some lakes that have lower (but still high) muskie numbers but a better average size. We can fish any time during the summer, but we do most of our muskie fishing in the fall. That’s the best time to catch a muskie. On rare occasions, when we get an early freeze we may get a brief window to try ice fishing for muskies as well! If you’ve always wanted to catch the fish of 10,000 casts, this trip is for you!

Inland Trout Fishing

If your goal is to simply catch fish, this is the trip for you! We fish for wily rainbow trout on small inland lakes and success is all but guaranteed. It’s a great option for parents who have children who love to fish or anyone who wants to catch some fish to take home for the grill. They aren’t monsters, averaging about 10 to 12 inches, but they put up a spirited fight and they’re great grilled or smoked. All equipment is provided. All you have to do is sit back and reel in the fish! These trips are half-day only and limit catches are common. Bring your fishing license, trout stamp (not needed for anglers under 16), food and drinks and a cooler for transporting fish.

Winter Northern Pike Spearing

Want to try something different this winter? Come along and spear northern pike through the ice! We always say this adventure is more like hunting than fishing. We cut a large hole in the ice, then use a fish decoy to attract northern pike. These ravenous predators sometimes attack the decoy and sometimes come in warily, you just never know. But little do they know that right above them is the waiting angler, ready to spear a fish just a few feet below! The closest thing to compare it to would be shooting a deer from a tree stand. It’s thrilling and different. And obviously, it’s not catch and release. We may spear out of a portable shack or out of a permanent fish house, depending on conditions. A fishing license and a separate spearing license ($7 for residents, $17 for nonresidents) are required.

Lake Superior Ice Fishing

Ice fishing on Lake Superior is like nothing else on the planet! It's mostly sight fishing for coho salmon and lake herring. You may see schools containing hundreds of fish! This trip is extremely weather dependent. The season is generally February and March, if at all.

The trout (lake trout, browns, rainbows) and salmon (cohos, kings) have been a consistent and growing fishery for the past 20 years. The crystal clear waters of Lake Superior make them among the world’s best for eating and they provide a splendid fight for anglers.

The protectiveness of the Apostle Islands is a retreat for all species, with lots of structure, major feeder streams and plenty of food.

The fishing varies throughout the year when it comes to size, but when the sizes diminish the numbers pick up. Prime times are: Spring - cohos, Summer - lake trout, Fall - king salmon.

Fish Cleaning

Lake Superior fishing provides opportunities to catch multiple species . While Lake Superior always has chances to catch all the target fish, certain times of year are better for specific species. Spring time (May - June)  provides great chances for coho salmon.  Summer time (June - July) good chances at king salmon and trophy walleyes on the south shore of Wisconsin. Late summer and fall (August - September) provides excellent opportunities for bigger lake trout.

When you go on a Lake Superior charter fishing trip, being prepared is key!

He has been fishing his whole life and for over a decade has guided exclusively on lake superior 7 days a week during the open water season. He has the experience and knowledge to make your fishing trip a safe, fun, and successful outing.
