Kawasaki Replacement Battery Chart

If your motorcycle battery is dead then you have come to the right place!

This motorcycle battery finder will help you select the right battery for your motorcycle. Whether you’re going for a cheap lead-acid battery, a better quality one, like a VRLA or AGM or whether you want to step into the future and buy a lightweight Lithium battery, this guide is for you.

We’ve listed every make and model we can find. For popular manufacturers you can click the link below to be taken to their dedicated page. If your bike isn’t in our ‘popular’ list, it’ll be in the table below.

We’ve used the popular brand Yuasa as our reference. If you don’t want a Yuasa battery, never fear, you can use our motorcycle battery cross reference chart at the bottom of the page to see the corresponding reference number for other popular makes including Exide and MotoBatt.

And if you want to switch to a lightweight Lithium battery (they also almost never go flat), then we’ve got a handy conversion table for you lower down the page too.

What are you waiting for? Ready, steady, CHARGE!

Now you know your battery model number, this handy battery cross reference chart will help you find the correct part number for three popular battery manufacturers: Yuasa, Exide and MotoBatt.

Lithium Battery Upgrade Chart

A lithium motorcycle battery is a worthwhile investment.

For me, the weight saving is brilliant but the main selling point is that, unlike a traditional lead-acid battery, they hold their charge for months and months. So even though they are slightly more expensive than a quality lead-acid battery, they will last far longer, probably twice or three times as long as a lead-acid.

Bikes tend to be used less frequently than cars and so it’s normal to go a few months without turning over your engine. The result? Your motorcycle battery dies and you can’t recover it. If this sounds like you, then go for a Lithium battery – you won’t regret it.

Both JMT and Shido are quality brands. They are both lightweight but cunningly they use the same physical-sized housing as a standard battery so you don’t have to mess around with foam padding. If you want the ultimate in compact size and weight saving, then go for an Aliant but you’ll need to pad out your battery housing box.

You’re looking at a weight saving of around 2kg and up to 5kg when you switch to a lithium motorcycle battery. MotoGP teams spend tens of thousands of pounds trying to find a 1kg weight saving and you can get a 2kg saving for around £70!

Frequently Asked Questions

My motorcycle battery is dead and won't charge A motorcycle battery is a ‘live’ product, that is to say, once it has been commissioned, it is giving off energy, discharging. A by-product of this process is sulphation, so if you don’t keep your battery charged (either by riding the bike or using a battery charger), it will eventually get to a stage where the sulphation causes a short-circuit and you won’t be able to start your bike - or recover your battery. You could try a motorcycle battery charger with a reconditioning mode or just buy a new battery.

What battery do I need for a 125cc motorbike? Every motorbike is different. See the battery finder on this page.

What's the longest lasting motorcycle battery? If you want a long-lasting motorcycle battery or one that will survive winter, go for a Lithium battery. They take 3 to 5 times as long to lose their charge compared to a lead-acid battery.

What's the best battery for my Harley? Your best bet is to go for a battery with a higher cranking amperage. If you have a large V-twin engine, definitely don't buy a cheap battery as it won't be able to handle many start cycles. It's a false economy. Either go for a high-cranking lead-acid battery, usually fitted to touring bikes or a Lithium battery which has around 50% more cranking power than standard lead-acid batteries.

My battery clicks but my motorbike won't start The noise you can hear isn’t the battery clicking but the starter solenoid. This solenoid is the first thing to receive power from the battery and it’s a relay that then opens the solenoid but there isn’t the power to turn the starter motor. The only good news in this situation is that the battery is probably still in a state where you can rescue it but you need to get it straight to A&E - dig out your charger, quick!

Do I need to top up my battery acid? The only battery you’ll need to top up is a non-sealed (flooded) motorcycle battery. The acid itself doesn’t evaporate but the water-element of the acid mixture does, leaving a more concentrated solution. Top it up using distilled water (boil a kettle, let the water cool then use that).

How long will a motorcycle battery last? Correctly maintained, a motorcycle battery should give you 48 months of use. However if you don’t ever charge it and rarely use the bike, it could be dead within 6 months. If you rarely use the bike and don’t have access to power where the bike is parked - it’s worth removing the battery and giving it a full charge every couple of months. Or even better - get out and ride!

Nothing for a ZX130R

Some of these are wrong. The KLE500 is a YTX12BS not a 14.

Thanks John. I think a 12 and 14 are the same size – there are just more cells in a 14, so it cranks harder.

Hey Guys. What brand of battery are we replacing the VV original battery with, and where are we finding the best price? Thanks

kawasaki voyager battery location

Well I'm still running a 7 year old battery in my voyager which came out of my older 08Suzuki that I traded in on the voyager. Anyway I know this battery won't last much longer so I have ordered a dry battery that comes with acid in a separate container. This way it will be fresh when I'm ready to activate it. The one I got was a "Powersports Battery" that I ordered from Amazon for about $60. The p/n is YTX20CH-BS. It's the exact same size and is a good price.

Batteries Plus. More CCA at $80.

When the time comes... Odyssey if they make one for the Voyager. The last battery you will every buy. After 10 years they were still going great on my scoots that had them. Also you have easier starting. Comes with a 5 year warranty... Yes they are pricey,,, but if you keep your scoot for 10-20 years like I do it is far cheaper in the long run... If you trade every other year... anything will work...

I won a gift card at a dual sport poker run so I bought an AGM battery at the dealer. No special brand name that I recall.

Well guys let me ask another question. With car batteries I've found they always crater right after the warranty. Also a car battery will be showing approx. 12.7 V prior to start, and 12.1 V or higher during starting if good. Does anyone know if this applies to the bikes? Currently mines showing 12.7 prior to start, but drops to 10.7 V during starting. On a car battery this would usually mean your fixin to be walkin. Has anyone tried this method to test their bike batteries? Thanks.

Just got one for mine last week Got A yuasa for mine set me back 100.00 My original was 5 years old and didn't sound right after sitting all winter in the garage I trickled it every month.

Under the fake tank. Two screws on the sides at the back, then underneath the forward edge are two half-turn thumbscrews. Lift off the cover and the battery is right there.

Voyager charging system/Battery

  • Add to quote

I have a 2002 voyager and want to use an AGM battery, specifically the Westco and was wondering what the charging voltage should be to the battery. My bike puts out about 14.1v at 2000rpm at the battery but when I read it at the alternator output it is about 0.3v higher. The wiring read 0 resistance from the alternator to the battery so I don't know why there is the drop. Anyone heard about an aftermarket alternator that may put out more current that is available for the voyager XII. Thanks

Northshore, You can have the alternator rewound where it will put out more current. Exact amount I'm not sure, but many do when they start adding the driving lights and other accessories. Go to the American Voyager Association site or AB Bike Board they will have all the information. I think the place that does it is in Morton Grove, Illinois and cost around $175 if they use your alternator take about two weeks. Buddy G. This is the information you need. REWIND UPGRADE (1200) (from stock 35 amp to 55 amp output)- Morton Grove Auto Electric ( 500 S Arthur Ave., Arlington Heights, IL- (847) 965-0372 ) has gained a good reputation for upgrading stock Voyager XII alternators to produce 55 amp output. Price is appx. $185.00- not including shipping (as of 1/29/08)-check current pricing, and it takes about two or three weeks after receipt of your stock alternator. Please tell them you were referred from the American Voyager Association website. REWIND UPGRADE (1200) (from stock 35 amp to 55 amp output)- A&M Alternator Service, 2419 E. Jackson Street, Phoenix, AZ 85034, (480) 267-0891. The owner is Manuel Olivas. Price as of 3/15/2007 was $100 plus tax and shipping. Thanks to Dennis Lawrence for this info.

Thank you Buddy for the quick reply...that sure beats the price of a new unit. Paul

Reason is the battery instrument panel light's power is cut when the ignition switch is off. Chevyman's idea of splicing into the lighting circuit is a good option, as it is a clean way to splice into wiring without having to come up with an extra large spade lug to battery post. You'll find the info on how to do in Tech Tips: https://www.amervoyassoc.org/techtipsXI ... y%20Sensor And thanks, Chevyman for the tip on using a 100 Ohm dropping resistor in line to +12 Volts, to mimic the internal resistance of the electrolyte. When battery fluid level is above the add water mark, the battery electrolyte touches 2 internal contacts, completing the circuit from the Sensor wire to the battery's +12 post. Actually the resistor is not a bad idea, as with unknowns with the circuits in the black boxes helps to preserve them by limiting current flow. That will be another of my projects when I work on installing an aftermarket CB.
