"The 35’ Deluxe Catamaran “Cadillac of the Caves” was AMAZING! Do not miss this when you’re in Kauai. Brian and Capt. Nate were fun, kind, knowledgeable, patient…all the things. They personally made sure every single person was comfortable and having fun the whole time. They shared tons of knowledge about Kauai and the Napali coast, played music, made us laugh, and were obviously capable and at ease on the ocean. The deluxe catamaran was big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to fit in caves and be an exciting ride. My husband and 7 year old sat in bench seats in the middle of the boat, while my 10 year old and I rode up front for a more exciting ride. We stopped to snorkel and they provided good equipment. They also put out snacks and drinks while we were in the water. They made sure everyone had enough time in the water and didn’t feel rushed back. Our family all took Dramamine the night before and again about an hour before we got on the boat, and we all felt fine the whole time. Do take similar precautions if you’re at all worried about sea sickness. I cannot recommend this company and experience highly enough. It was one of my favorite days ever! It was the experience of a lifetime to take in the gorgeous scenery in such a fun and exciting way. The experience and memories are worth the price. Book it!

Best Napali Coast Boat Tours

Holo holo charters – napali sunset dinner tour.

Price: Adults from $210; kids from $190 Duration: 3.5 hours

If a sunset sail is at the top of your Hawaii to-do list, consider this cruise. Aboard the company's 65-foot catamaran, you'll be treated to views of a sunset, rocky cliffs, sea caves and local sea life while gliding along the Napali Coast . Cruises are limited to 49 passengers. The tour also includes a hot dinner, as well as mai tais, beer and wine. Tourgoers describe the crew as exceptional and say the views are fabulous. Reviews for the food are more mixed, with many describing the dishes as average. Several travelers also warn of choppy waters and advise taking motion sickness medication ahead of your cruise.

Amazing day!!! High seas closed part of Nā Pali coast at the last minute but these guys got up early and scouted out an alternate and probably even more amazing trip for us. Na Pali Catamaran tours are a fantastic way to see the Na Pali coast. The boat tour offers views that are not available on the helicopter tours. We especially enjoyed the sea caves and getting to enter one of them. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and made the tour very entertaining. I highly recommend this tour.

We have toured the Na Pali coast several ways (top of Waimea Canyon, a sunset cruise from the west side, powered hang gliders when they were operating) and this experience outdid them all. Captain Lance and Crewman Miguel gave an astounding tour, complete with wildlife sitings, great history and information, and wonderful snorkeling with the turtles. We could tell Capt. Lance loves the sea and is very knowledgeable about ocean conditions. He was able to take us into three sea caves safely. We had a delightful afternoon. We highly recommend this activity for anyone visiting Kauai. Totally worth the time and money.

The Holo Holo Super Tour combines Kauai’s iconic Napali Coast boat tour experience with an offshore excursion—traveling 17 miles across the Kaulakahi Channel to Lehua Crater Hawaii State Wildlife Sanctuary and the neighboring “Forbidden Island” of Niihau, then back to Port Allen– all in one epic, awe-inspiring, senses-stimulating day!

It will be dawn when you come aboard Holoholo, our company’s namesake 65-foot power catamaran that was designed and built right here on Kauai, specifically for these daily trips across the channel to Lehua, Niihau, and back. Holoholo is clean, spacious, comfortable, and capable– fitted with powerful twin Cummins QSB diesel engines that make it possible for us to cover more than 60 ocean miles on this tour. Holoholo’s hull design and low center of gravity provide for a safe and secure ride with less bouncing and less rolling than on more top-heavy, double-decker boats.

We’ll enjoy a continental-style breakfast of cheesy scrambled eggs, pastries & muffins, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juice as we cruise along Kauai’s arid & beachy westside and towards the world-renowned Napali Coast. Your Captain will narrate the journey with history, legends, stories, and information about the island as we travel further north and get into the heart of Napali where we’ll witness her symphony of 4,000-foot sea cliffs, sea caves, sea arches, deep, rich emerald valleys, distant mountain waterfalls, up-close waterfalls that splash right into the bright blue ocean, serene beaches, glowing rainbows, light, shadows, mists, and all the other amazingness that’s somehow different and somehow magical every single day, without fail.

Of course, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled all day for ocean wildlife including green sea turtles, Hawaii’s endemic monk seals, playful Hawaiian spinner dolphins, and seasonally (December-April) North Pacific humpback whales that have migrated from their feeding grounds in Alaska, over 3,000+ miles to Hawaii for their winter breeding and calving season.

After sufficiently exploring and basking in all the glory of the Napali Coast, instead of turning around and going back the same way, as most Kauai boat tours do, the Super Tour points it west and lets it rip—17 miles offshore we go!

The destination is Lehua Crater, an uninhabited crescent-shaped crater that’s a designated Hawaii State Wildlife Sanctuary. At Lehua, there are thousands of pelagic sea birds, including several endangered and native species, as well as a really cool “keyhole” rock formation that we’ll check out. Bring the binoculars if you have them.

After some sightseeing, we’ll find the best place to hang out, typically between Lehua Crater and the island of Niihau—Hawaii’s mysterious “Forbidden Island” that’s home to a private colony of Native Hawaiians that live there, off the grid. It’s illegal to go ashore at Niihau, however, it’s a fantastic place to anchor respectfully offshore for snorkeling and lunch!

Because of the unique underwater topography between the islands, the fact that there’s very little human and boat traffic, and due to the much drier climate, the waters off Lehua and Niihau are teeming with life! These are some of the clearest accessible waters in Hawaii and can offer 100+ feet of visibility on the best days. Here, amongst the underwater lava cathedrals, is the opportunity to see more elusive ocean species including fishes, monk seals, and manta rays, than you normally see on Kauai. Bring the GoPro!

We have all the snorkeling gear–masks, fins, snorkels, flotation devices– and our crew members will provide basic snorkeling instructions before jumping in the water with you on paddleboards to be sure everyone has a safe and positive experience. Depending on the day’s conditions, we’ll spend up to an hour snorkeling. Anyone that doesn’t want to swim is more than welcome to stretch out, relax on the boat, and simply enjoy being in nature.

Post-snorkeling, we’ll renourish with a colorful, satisfying, delicious lunch of with all the fixings to make your favorite sandwiches, a noodle salad, crisp veggies with ranch & hummus, freshly baked cookies, sodas, and juices. With lunch, we also offer a nice selection of quality domestic and Hawaii craft beers, hard seltzers, and wine spritzers that you’re welcome to enjoy for the remainder of the trip back to Port Allen.

After the tour, you should be all smiles and ready for an afternoon nap!

We got up close and personal - but not too close - to about 5 green sea turtles. The two spots we visited were great, the 1st was a hangout for turtles and the 2nd a reef closer to shore schooling with fish... We really loved this trip and the great sea life we saw, and enjoyed Davey and Dave as our guides.

So nice to get up close and personal...none of this 50 people to a boat business. Very knowledgeable staff. JC and Jon were amazing! Found the whales right away and shared some very interesting facts on the trip. Highly recommend!

Kauai’s stunning napali coast.

The Na Pali Coast is one of the most recognizable and beautiful coastlines in the world.  “The cliffs” up to 4,000 feet high, provide a rugged grandeur of deep, narrow valleys ending abruptly at the sea.  Spanning 17 miles along Kauai’s North Shore, the Na Pali Coast is a sacred place defined by extraordinary beauty.

The rugged terrain appears much as it did centuries ago when Hawaiian settlements flourished in these deep, narrow valleys, existing only on the food they could grow and the fish they could catch. Extensive stone-walled terraces can still be found on the valley bottoms where Hawaiians once lived and cultivated taro.

Fern Grotto Tours on Kauai

During the two mile river journey, you’ll hear songs and stories of ancient Hawaii — like the King’s Highway , sacred Mount Kapu , and the First Hau Tree . In addition, guests enjoy learning the hula during a lesson provided by one of our cousins. Everyone gets into the act during the river cruise!

Smith’s famous Wailua River cruise boats are powered by an ingenious rear-engine system invented by Walter Smith, Sr. The spacious, open-air boats provide excellent views from either side during the trip upstream.

The Wailua River is known as “the only navigable river” in all Hawaii. The river’s fresh water pours down from Mt. Wai‘ale‘ale, one of the wettest spots on the planet. Lands along the river were the sacred capital of ancient Kauai and the birthplace of the island’s ali‘i , or royalty.

At the Fern Grotto landing, you’ll enjoy a short nature walk through the rainforest to the lush Fern Grotto.

The Fern Grotto is a geological wonder of Kauai. Ferns grow upside down from the roof of the grotto, which was formed millions of years ago. Native Hawaiian plants and colorful exotic tropical plants provide a rain-forest atmosphere.

The entire tour takes one hour and 20 minutes round-trip .
