Months After Dating Rumors, Tom Cruise And Hayley Atwell Hold Hands In New Mission: Impossible 7 Still

They're holding hands, but there is more to it.

Last summer rumors were running around that Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell were dating as they filmed Mission: Impossible 7 . However, the actress made it clear that she’s just really great friends with her co-star recently, and she got engaged actor Ned Wolfgang Kelly, who she was linked to last summer. Now, with Dead Reckoning Part One coming out soon on the 2023 movie schedule , the actress posted a photo of her and the franchise’s leading man on Instagram of them holding hands. 

Hayley Atwell Shut Down Rumors That She Was Dating Tom Cruise  

Atwell shut down these dating rumors about Tom Cruise in early May, telling Country & Townhouse that she was aware of the discussions about her and her co-star. She explained that she does love him and the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One team, but in a platonic way. She said:  

I felt like if I ever was worried about it, I could talk to him [Tom]. And I know that he would’ve said, ‘People say whatever they want to say, but you know who you are, I know who I am and I want you to feel safe in this environment.’

She continued to gush about her love for both Tom Cruise and the action movie’s director Christopher McQuarrie , saying:

What I feel is the truly extraordinary power of platonic love, which seems to be sometimes under-represented. And my love for Tom, my love for McQuarrie, my love for the process of this [Mission], and also the people who they keep very close to them and who are very present on set, has a wholesomeness to it. That for me, I just found so beautiful, so, yeah, I can freely say ‘I love this group of people.’

While Atwell read for Jack Reacher , and could have worked with Cruise sooner, M:I 7 is the first time she’s worked with the action star. She’s been open about working with Cruise, and everything that goes into filming one of these epic action movies including the delays on Mission Impossible 7 and 8 . Now, as the cast is getting ready to release Dead Reckoning, the MCU actress posted a fun photo from set of her and her co-star getting close during an action sequence. 

A New Mission: Impossible Still Shows Tom Cruise And Hayley Atwell Holding Hands

Hayley Atwell took to her Instagram to post a new still from Mission: Impossible 7 in preparation for the movie’s release on July 12. The photo shows the Captain America actress handcuffed to Tom Cruise, and they’re holding hands. Check it out for yourself:

This isn’t the first time Atwell has addressed the handcuff scene . She explained that it’s not just Tom Cruise pulling off wild stunts. The Peggy Carter actress got to learn how to drift race, she backflipped over a bridge, jumped off a moving train, and had to run “uphill in high heels while handcuffed” to the Top Gun : Maverick star. 

While the actress posted a fun still from the movie, the footage of the two cuffed together was shown at CinemaCon earlier this year. It appears the chase happens after Atwell and Cruise’s characters get into some trouble involving INTERPOL, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) cuffs himself to Grace (Hayley Atwell) in an effort to make sure she can’t get away.

Hayley Atwell addresses 'invasive' Tom Cruise dating rumors: 'It feels a little dirty'

A love story between “Mission: Impossible” newcomer Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise is pure fiction.

The British actress, who co-stars with Cruise in the upcoming action thriller “Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One,” opened up about past speculation that she dated Cruise in an interview with The Independent published Saturday.

Atwell, who is engaged to music producer Ned Wolfgang Kelly , said she views Cruise and “Dead Reckoning” director Christopher McQuarrie as "sort of two uncles."

" I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumors, and it feels base. It feels a little dirty, " Atwell told the British outlet. "It feels grubby. It’s not what I’m about. Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?"

Atwell added that she found the rumors "upsetting" because of the scrutiny it brought to her private life.

"It’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that," Atwell said. "It becomes invasive."

'Impeccably made': 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One' lauded for action-packed drama

Marking the seventh installment in the iconic "M:I" franchise, "Dead Reckoning Part One" follows Cruise’s secret agent Ethan Hunt as he faces off against "The Entity,"  an evolving form of artificial intelligence that threatens global security. Atwell plays enigmatic thief Grace in the film. The pair becomes an effective duo, navigating a wild car chase through Rome in a tiny Fiat and a hellacious train trip on the Orient Express.

"Dead Reckoning" has earned rave reviews from critics for its stunning action sequences and compelling performances. Erik Davis of Fandango called the film an "impeccably made action film that does not stop entertaining."

"Each action sequence is long, crazy and intense," Davis wrote on Twitter. "The story is big and sprawling, but I like how it both felt complete and left you dying for what comes next."

Perri Nemiroff of Collider said the film is "another winner for the franchise," including the addition of Atwell’s character. "She can do it all. Action, comedy, a capable hero in many respects while trying to get her sea legs in others," Nemiroff tweeted.

USA TODAY film critic Brian Truitt gave the film three out of four stars , writing that while "Dead Reckoning" is chock-full of gloriously bonkers stunt sequences, its technological villain introduces some narrative obstacles.

"If you choose to accept this 'Mission' – and what action-movie fan or Cruise nerd wouldn’t, really – it’s the first half of a man vs. machine epic that doesn’t skimp in the thrills department," Truitt wrote. "Just don’t think too hard about it, though you’ll probably still give serious side-eye to your laptop."

Tom Cruise Is Once Again Rumored to Be Dating His Mission: Impossible Costar

Tom Cruise is once again rumored to be romantically involved with someone he met on the set of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

This time, the actor is said to be dating his costar in the film’s seventh iteration, Hayley Atwell. In photos published by The Sun , the pair were spotted holding hands at a recent London screening, as well as in between shooting scenes, kicking off speculation they’re officially an item. According to a source who spoke to The Sun , “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.” They added, “They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.”

While Cruise and Atwell could very well have a burgeoning new romance, this is hardly the first time the action star has been linked to someone he was starring opposite. In fact, this isn’t even the first time he’s been linked to a woman on this particular Mission: Impossible set. It was previously reported that Cruise and his other costar Vanessa Kirby had off-the-charts chemistry during both this most recent shoot and during 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, in which she plays his love interest. Kirby firmly denied the rumors during a 2018 interview with The View .

There were also stories about Cruise “falling for” his skydiving instructor Sian Stokes during filming. And then there are the recent rumors about Cruise’s off-screen love life, tying him to Elizabeth Moss and Michelle Dockery . So basically, if you’re a woman anywhere within Cruise’s vicinity, chances of dating rumors are extremely high.

He found love in a maskless place (a.k.a. the set of Mission: Impossible 7 .) Fans may be curious to know who Tom Cruise’s girlfriend Hayley Atwell is.

The Sun reported on Thursday, December 17, that Cruise and Atwell, his co-star in the upcoming Mission: Impossible film, are dating. A production source told The Sun that the two became close from their first day on set. “Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one,” the insider said. “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable. They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.” News of their relationship comes after a leaked audio clip of Cruise yelling at the Mission: Impossible 7 crew for breaking COVID-19 restrictions went viral.

Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent and the leader of a team of operatives, in the Mission: Impossible franchise. From the looks of photos from the set, which show Cruise and Atwell’s characters holding hands and close together, the two play love interests. Ahead is what we know about Tom Cruise ‘s rumored girlfriend Hayley at well.

How did Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell meet?

Cruise and Atwell met on the set of Mission: Impossible 7 , which started filming in September 2020. Photos from the set showed their characters holding hands. Cruise plays the main character of the franchise, Ethan Hunt. At the time of writing this, Atwell’s character hasn’t been revealed. Mission: Impossible 7 is set to premiere on November 19, 2021. Prior to the Mission Impossible franchise, Atwell was best known for her role as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She made her Marvel debut in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger as the love interest of Chris Evans’ Captain America. It’s unclear if Atwell is Scientologist like Cruise.

Who did Hayley Atwell date before Tom Cruise?

Before her relationship with Cruise, Atwell dated model Evan Jones. The two split in 2015 after two years together, according to Page Six . According to The Daily Mail , Atwell also dated an English doctor briefly in 2020. Cruise, for his part, has been married three times. He was married to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990. He then remarried with Nicole Kidman in 1990 before their divorce in 2001. His third marriage came in 2006 when he married Katie Holmes . The two split in 2012. Cruise shares son Connor and daughter Isabella with Kidman, and is also the father of Suri with Holmes .

It claimed that Tom was dating his co-star   Hayley Atwell  from Mission: Impossible 7 . In June 2022, another report came out that the pair broke up . Melissa Gilbert

Melissa Gilbert , 59, who played Laura Ingalls on the NBC series Little House on the Prairie , claimed that she dated Tom in the early 1980’s. This was at the very beginning of his career! “Actually, when I dated him he was Tom Mapother still. It was when he first moved to Los Angeles and I think I was 16, maybe, or 17?,” Melissa said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen   in 2017.

“I did not have sex with him,” Laura added. “We made out, but, honestly, there was no sex. He was a good kisser. But, you know, he was, like, a struggling, starving actor. I actually bought him his first set of dishes.” Melissa even reminisced on her friendship/past relationship with her fellow “Brat Pack” pal, Tom, in a throwback Instagram post shared in Oct. 2019.

Heather Locklear

Heather Locklear , 61, was never Tom’s girlfriend, but she did go on one (sort of) date with him. It didn’t go well, according to her recollection. The Melrose Place  star explained in a 2013 interview on Chelsea Lately  that they had both “auditioned for something” together, back when Tom “didn’t have friends” in Hollywood in the early ’80s. So, they went dancing.

“You know in ‘Risky Business’ where he does that dance in his underwear and does the splits? We were dancing at a club and he went into that. He starting doing the splits,” Heather said. “You just kind of stand there and don’t know what to do. Do you dance around him? So, I was like, ‘I’ll just sit down and you can.'”

“And that was the only date you had?,” Chelsea Handler then asked Heather, to which the actress said, “I think so.” Tom and Heather are pictured above together in 1981.

Rebecca De Mornay

Rebecca de Mornay and Tom played lovers in Tom’s breakthrough film, Risky Business , which came out in 1983. Their on-screen chemistry turned out to be real! Although Rebecca joked that Tom was “extremely annoying” at first, she admitted, “He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film” in a 2018 interview with Celebrity Page .

Tom Cruise famously made Cher ‘s “Top 5” lovers list, which she revealed on  Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen  in 2013. “I had just the greatest lovers ever. Not a long list. It’s just a good list,” the 77-year-old singer had said.

Cher explained how she and Tom connected in a separate interview. “A bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic. We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there,” Cher told the  Mail on Sunday   in 2018. She added, “Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Mimi Rogers

It was during this relationship that Tom infamously joined the Church of Scientology, which he is a prominent figure in to this day. When Tom met actress Mimi Rogers , 67, she had been a few years divorced from Scientologist Jim Rogers . “I met her at a dinner party about a year ago, when I was developing Top Gun. She was dating a friend, and, uh, I thought she was extremely bright,” Tom recalled in a 1986 interview with Rolling Stone .

However, Mimi had a conflicting story. “I wasn’t seeing anybody, he wasn’t seeing anybody, and they thought, ‘These people should be going out with somebody — let’s see if they want to go out with each other.’ And we said, ‘Aw, what the heck. OK’,” Mimi told the Sun Sentinel  in 1987.

Tom sounded smitten in another Rolling Stone interview, which was published mere days before his split from Mimi was announced in 1990. “I’d never been in love before. Since I’ve been with her, it’s opened me up a lot. I think it’s helped me be a better actor. We live a lot of life together. We share everything,” he gushed, later adding, “I care about my wife more than anything in the world. She’s my best friend. I just really like being with her, you know? I love her.” The divorce was finalized in February 1990, three years after they got married.

Nicole Kidman

Tom Cruise moved on to his next marriage, which was with Moulin Rouge!  star Nicole Kidman , 55. They met on the set of their movie Days of Thunder , in which they played lovers, in 1990. By the end of the year, they were husband and wife. Tom and Nicole adopted two children amid their 11-year marriage : Isabella in 1992, and Connor in 1994.

During the marriage, Tom and Nicole also filmed another movie together, Eyes Wide Shut , in 1999. Nicole even looked back at their time filming together in a rare interview in Oct. 2020, telling the  New York Times , “We were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to.”

Nicole famously never joined Tom’s Church of Scientology, which even their children went on to be active members in. Tom and Nicole’s split was announced in Feb. 2001, and Tom filed for divorce two days later. To this day, the exes have minimal interactions with one another. “Tom has had little to no contact with Nicole in the 18 years since being married and that is fine by him,” a source close to Tom EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife . “He really does not miss her much at all.”

Penélope Cruz

Tom took a break from the married life and started dating Penélope Cruz , 49, whom he met on the set of the movie Vanilla Sky  in 2000. They enjoyed a three-year relationship, which the former couple’s reps confirmed ended in 2004. “They remain good friends and still talk often. There is no other person involved,” Penelope’s spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time.

Katie Holmes

Enter Katie Holmes , who to date remains one of Tom’s most famous exes. Ironically, Katie , 44, she once told Seventeen Magazine   in 2004 that she “used to think that [she] was going to marry Tom Cruise,” which didn’t turn out to just be wishful thinking. The two came together the very next year.

Katie and Tom’s first public appearance as lovers happened in April of 2005. Tom was with the Dawson’s Creek star in Rome, where he was visiting to collect his David di Donatello Award for lifetime achievement. The very next month, Tom was jumping on Oprah Winfrey ‘s couch and proclaiming that he’s “in love” (to which Oprah said, “The boy is gone”).

The relationship quickly advanced. When Katie stepped onto the  Batman Begins  premiere in June of 2005, the actress revealed that she’s converting to Scientology (Tom’s religion) and her engagement to Tom was announced that very same month. By October, the couple was expecting, and in April of 2006 they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Suri .

Katie and Tom tied the knot in Italy in Nov. 2006, and all seemed happy until June of 2012, when Katie filed for divorce. A settlement for custody of Suri was decided on a month later. A year afterwards, Tom admitted that he “didn’t expect” that divorce in an interview with German television network ProSieben.

Katie reflected on the time after the divorce in an April 2020 interview with   InStyle . “That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it. We had some funny moments out and about in public. So many people I didn’t know became my friends and helped us out, and that’s what I love about the city,” she said.

Hayley Atwell

Tom reportedly started dating Hayley Atwell  — whom you may have seen playing Peggy Carter in the Captain America  movies — in 2020, according to a report from The Sun that surfaced in Dec. of that year. Hayley and Tom filmed Mission 7: Impossible  together amid the pandemic.

“Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one,” a source told The Sun , who added, “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.” Tom and Hayley did not confirm this report, but he hasn’t confirmed any romances since his marriage to Katie, and on June 12, 2022, it was reported he and Hayley had split . It was the second reported split since back in Sept. 2021, they reportedly also called it quits but reconciled a short time later.

“Tom and Hayley’s relationship was genuine,” a source told The Sun . “In spite of some rumours to the contrary, it was never just for the cameras. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out for them. They get on really well, and have fantastic chemistry, which is why they decided to quietly give the relationship another try earlier this year.”

In mid-2023, multiple outlets reported that Tom had quietly started dating the model and socialite.

“They’re very happy,” a source told Us Weekly in December 2023. “And Tom’s extremely confident about it working out for the long term. Tom is going into 2024 totally energized, excited and feeling healthier and happier than he has in years. This is a very special time for him, and having a serious relationship in his life that he can build on is the icing on the cake.”

"Today is a magnificent day for me," says Cruise, who proposes to Holmes atop the Eiffel Tower

After a brief and very public romance, Tom Cruise has proposed to girlfriend Katie Holmes , he announced at a Paris press conference Friday morning, with Holmes – flashing a large diamond ring on her left hand – at his side.

“Yes, I proposed to her. … It was early this morning at the Eiffel Tower, so I haven’t slept at all,” said Cruise.

“Today is a magnificent day for me, I’m engaged to a magnificent woman,” he added.

Cruise proposed after a candlelit dinner at Le Jules Verne restaurant at the Eiffel Tower around 12:30 a.m., Entertainment Tonight reports on its Friday broadcast.

Asked why he chose the famed Paris landmark, Cruise answered: “I’ve never been to the Eiffel Tower. It’s Paris, it’s a beautiful city, it’s very romantic.”

The press conference at Le Train Bleu at the Gare De Lyon train station was actually for Cruise’s upcoming movie, War of the Worlds. It opens in the U.S. on June 29. Holmes’s new movie, Batman Begins, opened Wednesday.

Wearing a black denim jacket over a black T-shirt, Cruise arrived at about 10:22 a.m. Paris time, with Holmes, sporting a black top, behind him.

In the course of the conference, Cruise and Holmes never touched but repeatedly made happy faces. (Cruise’s sister and publicist, Lee Anne Devette, sat with them.) Holmes’s ring, which Cruise said he bought “a while ago,” had a tear-shaped diamond.

Asked by PEOPLE privately if they plan to have children, Holmes paused and then said, “Yes,” as both she and Cruise broke into smiles. (Holmes, however, did not speak during the press conference.)

As for setting a wedding date, “We have to discuss that,” he said. “We’re taking it one step at time.”

When told by reporters that he seemed like a changed man, Cruise replied: “It’s definitely love and France. I’ve never felt like this before. She’s an extraordinary woman and I love her very much. My family is doing well and I’m just very happy. Then you come to Paris … But it’s definitely Katie.”

He then added to TV’s The Insider : “I’ll be jumping on couches for a very long time.”

Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26 – who left the Paris press conference to board a train for Marseilles, for another War of the Worlds premiere – first announced their relationship in April, with both of them declaring their love at press conferences and in TV appearances.

In May, Cruise’s behavior on Oprah Winfrey ’s sofa – jumping up and down – prompted the host to declare, “The boy is GONE.”

“I’m in love! I’m in love,” Cruise yelled, throwing his hands in the air. “I can’t be cool. I can’t be laid-back. It’s something that has happened, and I feel I want to celebrate it. I want to celebrate her. She’s a very special woman.”

He and Holmes began dating after Cruise split from actress Penelope Cruz, and Holmes and actor Chris Klein called off their long-standing engagement. Cruise was previously married to actresses Mimi Rogers (1987-90) and Nicole Kidman (1990-2001), with whom he adopted two children.

But early last year, she told a friend a shocking secret: She's always had a crush on him. She had no idea word would get back to Tom and it would bring them together."

However, the actress not only debunked that story, but also the photo of the woman who appeared to be her. She said on Watch What Happens Live , "I saw it on the cover of one of the gossip magazines and I was like, 'I've never had that haircut. It was supposed to be a picture of the two of us and I was like, 'I've never styled my hair like that.' Tom Cruise and his girlfriend, Elsina Khayrova , have called it quits shortly after debuting their romance.

“They weren’t gelling and realized they weren’t romantically compatible,” a source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly , on stands now.

According to the insider, Khayrova, 36, was the one to put an end to the their relationship. “There’s no bad blood between them,” the source tells Us . “They just had different ideas of what their relationship was going to be.”

The actor, 61, and the Russian socialite, 36, were first spotted cozying up to each other at a December 2023 party in London’s Grosvenor Square, though a source exclusively told Us  at the time that the pair had been dating for “a while.”

“They’re very happy,” the insider added. “And Tom’s extremely confident about it working out for the long term. … They’ve hung out at Tom’s favorite private members club and regularly enjoy afternoon tea and gourmet dinners out in London.”

The two met through mutual friends in the city’s social scene. “What started as a basic friendship quickly turned into something more special ,” the source said.

Cruise’s eldest children, Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29 — whom he shares with ex-wife Nicole Kidman — thought Khayrova was “great and [were] so happy to see that their dad [had] love in his life again,” the insider noted, revealing that Cruise was waiting to pursue a romance once he found the right person. “He wanted to take his time and not rush into any relationships just for the sake of it.”

As for Khayrova, she was “very supportive of Tom and his work” and knew that he had “a lot of demands and obligations” on his plate.

In February, a second source told Us that Cruise was “very relaxed and content” with Khayrova. “They’re both happy in London and settled with a well-heeled social circle, all of whom believe it’s a great match.”

Tom, 61, was nowhere to be seen and is currently filming for a new project in London with no word on whether he sent any birthday wishes.

Their relationship is said to be so strained that Suri has decided to ditch her last name, going instead by Suri Noelle — her mother’s middle name.

In 2016, a US outlet reported the teenager  has a huge rift with her father and the pair have not been in contact for years.

Tom, who has two more children, hasn’t been pictured with Suri for years but is believed to have been paying child support as per his and Katie’s divorce settlement.

Was Tom Cruise involved in Suri’s childhood?

In April 2006, Katie and Tom revealed to the world they had welcomed a baby girl and five months later they graced the cover of Vanity Fair with Suri in their arms.

They married in a Scientologist church months later and lots of pictures of Tom out and about carrying his newborn cropped up.

‘My whole life I always wanted to be a father,’ he gushed to the publication at the time, having adopted Connor and Isabella with Nicole Kidman previously.

‘I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.’

Things seemed to be going swimmingly until six years later when the Dawson’s Creek star filed for divorce while Tom was away filming Oblivion.

When was Tom Cruise last seen with Suri?

Around the time of the divorce was the last time Tom was publicly pictured with Suri, taking her to Disney World in 2012.

At the time, a spokesperson for the Top Gun star said: ‘Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children.’

The high profile split was said to be in part due to Katie’s fears around Scientology, after members of the group moved into their home.

Speaking to  the Daily Mail before his death, founder Ron Miscavige said the decision ‘didn’t sit so well with Katie, of course, and it hurt the marriage.’

When the divorce was settled, the Batman Begins star was granted sole custody plus $400,000 (£315,456) per year in child support until Suri turned 18.

It’s reported that Tom has not seen Suri in the 10 years since, with the pair being no contact for the last three years.

A source told Heat magazine: ‘Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life, but insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time.’

Has Katie Holmes said anything about Suri and Tom’s relationship?

Katie has not commented on Tom’s relationship with their daughter but has been incredibly open about how protective she feels over Suri’s privacy.

‘What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,’ she told Glamour last year.

‘I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.’

‘I love her so much,’ the mom-of-one told InStyle in 2020. ‘My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality, to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident and able.

‘And to know it. She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.’

Suri's decision to drop her 'Cruise' surname is thought to be a moment of rebellion, according to a US psychiatrist. In an exclusive interview with The Mirror , expert Carole Lieberman, M.D. explained: "Children ‘drop’ their last name to rebel against their parents. They’re angry and resentful over some hurt from childhood."

She continued: "When they get older, they get back at their parents by ‘dropping’ them as a way to punish their parents for all the painful memories they’ve held onto and obsessed over for years," and added: "These memories could be something as seemingly minor as their parent not coming to all their games in high school, or something major like their father divorcing their mother and going on to have another family."

Tom's estrangement from his daughter Suri comes after Katie was awarded "sole custody" of her in during the famous pair's divorce settlement back in July of 2012. After the settlement, a source later revealed to Heat Magazine that Tom had made a deal to "allow her [Suri] and her mother to live their own lives because that was what Katie wanted."

Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise’s Daughter Suri’s Latest Outing Shows Another Cool Hobby of Hers

Let’s face it, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri Cruise is already so talented! Throughout this year, she’s made headlines for her theater roles , and how she’s changed her stage name to Suri Noelle. Before, she made headlines for singing in her mom’s films, and now, she was pictured walking around NYC with something that hints to fans what her focus is on: music!

We’ve known forever that Suri is a musically inclined child, and now, we see that she’s continued that passion as an adult. On May 24, in photos obtained by DailyMail , we can see Suri hanging out with a buddy, with a guitar on her shoulder.

For those who don’t know, Holmes and Tom started dating in early 2005, and within a year, they welcomed their daughter Suri Cruise on April 2006 (and married seven months later). Later, Holmes filed for divorce from Tom in 2012.

Now, Suri recently turned 18, and she’s showing off her acting chops, musical chops, and her fashion sense . With college around the corner, many are wondering what career path she’ll take, and all of these hobbies have people guessing.

Throughout her life, she’s taken ballet lessons, guitar lessons (!!), singing, and acting lessons. Per DailyMail , she’s considered majoring in either music or fashion when she enters college, and so many pics and stories have shown that could definitely be the case.

The actors who had a fairytale romance on the sets of their film Days of Thunder , tied the knot in 1990 and seemed to have the perfect life until their shocking divorce in 2001. Despite being very young, the Oscar winner has openly admitted that her marriage to the Mission: Impossible star happened out of love for each other. Having said that, Kidman in an interview few years ago, elaborated on the repercussions of continuing to talk about her failed relationship with Cruise.

For over 11 years, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were couple goals. The two superstars who began courting on the sets of Days of Thunder which was their first film together, sealed their romance by tying the knot a year later when Kidman was only 22 years old. The celebrities also extended their family by adopting two daughters.

Unfortunately, the fairytale was not meant to be and the couple officially called it quits in 2001 . The Hours star went on to marry country singer Keith Urban in 2006 and continues to be in a rock-solid relationship with him after 18 years together.

Suri Cruise turns 18 and is still estranged from Tom: ‘Not a Scientologist, never will be’

Suri Cruise was once the most famous baby in America.

The arrival of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter on April 18, 2006, sparked a global frenzy for the first glimpse of the A-list infant.

But it wasn’t until five months after her birth that she made her debut — on the cover of Vanity Fair, wrapped in the arms of her doting parents, in glossy photos taken by photographer to the stars, Annie Leibovitz.

Now she turns 18 on Thursday and faces a choice: Whether to return to the level of fame she had as a kid — when there were blogs devoted to her fashion — or maintain the carefully-guarded life Holmes has built for her since she blindsided Cruise by filing for divorce.

The dark-haired teen has grown up in Manhattan largely shielded from the spotlight by her loving and highly protective mom, 45, far removed from her 60-year-old father’s Church of Scientology.

As Page Six revealed last year, Suri is estranged from her famous father and the pair have no relationship.

An industry source told us this week that the “Mission: Impossible” star has not seen Suri since 2012. “Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the source said.

“This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Holmes told Glamour magazine in 2023 that she likes to “protect” Suri from the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person. She’s my heart,” she added.

Being the only daughter of a protective single parent is a stark contrast to how Suri’s life began, of course.

“My whole life I always wanted to be a father,” Cruise gushed to VF back in 2006.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.

“I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”

He already had two adopted children, Bella, now 31, and Connor, now 29, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman and after her Vanity Fair debut was happy to parade Suri for the paparazzi.

Cruise had famously declared their romance by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in May 2005, yelling “I’m in love!” 

But when Suri was just 6, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage with the help of her dad, Martin Holmes, a fierce attorney, and through a secret plan that entailed using burner phones.

Cruise was taken completely by surprise by the filing while he was on the set of “Oblivion” in Iceland in June 2012.

He and Suri were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.

In November 2013, during a deposition in his $50 million court battle against a pair of tabloid magazines, the “Top Gun” star admitted that Holmes had filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed.

Despite not having a relationship; as per their divorce agreement, Cruise, who has an estimated $600 million fortune, agreed to pay Holmes $400,000 a year until Suri turns 18 as well as future “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs”.

Scientology lies at the heart of the question over Suri’s future.

Holmes, who rose to fame in the TV hit, “Dawson’s Creek,” is believed to have signed multiple non-disclosure documents that will prevent her from ever talking about her marriage to Cruise — and her time inside Scientology.

But when Suri turns 18, NY state declares that she is at the age of majority, when an individual is legally considered an adult.

That would allow her to speak about her father, his beliefs and their rift.

Tony Ortega, who has covered Scientology in depth for decades, told Page Six, “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”

We have reached out to reps for Cruise, Holmes and the Church of Scientology. 

“Part of why Katie left when she did when Suri was 6 was that Katie would have seen Isabella and Connor going through Scientology,” said Ortega.

Cruise is of course Scientology’s most famous follower and seen as one of its most powerful figures, possibly second only to its leader, David Miscavige.

That power has led Ortega and former Scientologists to question what action Miscavige and other top Scientologists may have taken against Holmes and her daughter.

Regular members who quit are declared “suppressive persons (SP)” and those who stay in Scientology are told to completely cut them off.

“We don’t know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP,” Ortega said.

“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s  the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff.

“Your average member would be kicked out, but David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”

Both Mike Rinder and Jeff Augustine, two high-profile former Scientologists, agreed with this claim.

Augustine is married to Karen de la Carriere, who was one of the highest-ranking church leaders until she left in 2010 and told Page Six, “The situation with Suri is a larger story about Scientology and the subject of how they make people no longer useful to them or threats to them non-persons.

“It’s like they cease to exist and that’s what happened to Suri.”

Back in August 2020, Leah Remini — one of the most famous celebrities to leave and speak out against Scientology — told us that she believed Cruise, who now lives mainly in the UK , was waiting until Suri is older so he could indoctrinate her into Scientology.

Remini, who attended Cruise and Holmes’ November 2006 Italian wedding at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle, said, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Suri has tiptoed very gently into her parents’ showbusiness world while attending her exclusive Manhattan day school, singing “Blue Moon” in the opening credits of Holmes’ 2022 movie, “Alone Together.”

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said. “So I asked her! She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.”

Suri also sang in the film “Rare Objects,” which Holmes also directed.

Holmes will this year return to Broadway in a revival of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town”.

She has not remarried but had a six-year romance with actor Jamie Foxx which she kept under the radar before their split in August 2019 and went on to have a brief fling with  Nolita restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. in 2021.

Holmes is careful not to speak out too much about her daughter, who is now preparing for college, once saying, “She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.”

But she is now getting ready for her daughter to leave the nest.

“You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they’re going to go,” she told Town & Country in 2017.

“And that’s going to be very, very sad for me.”

As for the future, former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder, who has not seen his own two eldest children since he quit the organization, told Page Six, “Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be…she deserves love and sympathy.”
