Horizon Zero Dawn Fast Travel - how to get the Golden Fast Travel Pack for unlimited fast travel

How and where to get your hands on the hugely useful Golden Fast Travel Pack.

Fast Travel in Horion Zero Dawn works a little differently to the standard method we've come to expect from open-world adventure games.

Unlike most, it's limited, relying on Fast Travel Packs - items carried by Aloy - in order to work. However, there is a way to unlock that mechanic and grant unlimited fast travel to any discovered Campfire, thanks to the Golden Fast Travel Pack .

So, exactly how does fast travel work , how do you get the Golden Fast Travel Pack , and how exactly do you unlock unlimited fast travel in Horizon Zero Dawn ? All of that is explained here in our guide, below.

How does fast travel work in Horizon Zero Dawn?

Fast Travel in Horizon Zero Dawn revolves around Campfires or, more specifically, Campfires you've already visited.

You don't have to have saved at them or even interacted with them, just have got close enough to have the text pop up on screen that it's been discovered. From then on, you'll be able to fast travel to that location, provided you have one other thing: a Fast Travel Pack.

In the early stages of the game, these are found from certain vendors or, if you're lucky maybe a random crate or slain human enemy.

These Packs act as one-time-use consumables, meaning you'll need to stock up, at a fair bit of expense to both your time and Metal Shards, if you want to fast travel often - and as the game progresses, you probably do.

How to get the Golden Fast Travel Pack in Horizon Zero Dawn

Enter, the Golden Fast Travel Pack. Narratively unexplained but nonetheless incredibly useful, this pack will let you travel an unlimited number of times, without worrying about stocking up your inventory.

It's obtained from a number of Traders around the world of Horizon, although for the record we sourced ours from the merchant just outside Meridian, by the big bridge leading into the city.

How much does the Golden Fast Travel Pack cost? Well, it's relatively cheap:

  • 50 Metal Shards - obtained from all kinds of sources but, most commonly, from slain machines or selling items to merchants.
  • 1 Fox Skin - somewhat harder, although far from impossible, to obtain. This drops randomly from wild Foxes you can hunt anywhere on the map. Forresty areas are generally the best, and we found one after only killing a handful, so it shouldn't take you long.
  • 10 Fatty Meat - this, again, is quite easy to find. It comes from any wild animal you can hunt, so you can normally pick some up from a quick trip into the wild where you can hunt Boar, Turkey, and Fox at your will.

For more tips, explainers and advice on Horizon be sure to check out our main Horizon Zero Dawn guide and walkthrough hub, which includes advice for things like Horizon Zero Dawn's override Cauldrons and which machines they let you control, getting hold of the Golden Fast Travel Pack for unlimited fast travel , finding and unlocking the very powerful Horizon Zero Dawn Shield Weave Armour and Power Cell locations , and then for DLC players there's our main Horizon Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds walkthrough and guide , a page on how to earn Bluegleam quickly , and finally, a page on the handy A Secret Shared quest and how to upgrade your spear in Horizon Frozen Wilds .

Once you have the required items, simply head to a general goods merchant, and it can be found at the bottom of the 'Resources' tab, shaded in purple for Very Rare.

That's all you need to know in terms of fast travel, but for more tips and tricks, take a look at our hub page, featuring a complete Horizon Zero Dawn walkthrough and guide for the main story, as well as our guide to all Power Cell locations for the secret Shield-Weave armour , too.

Horizon Forbidden West: How to Fast Travel

Image of Chris Jecks

The map of Horizon Forbidden West is absolutely massive. It’s also teeming with machines just waiting to engage Aloy in a battle to the death. This can make getting from one point to the next for a quest a rather time-consuming and arduous process, especially if you encounter some of the toughest machines roaming the Tenakth’s territory . Fortunately, you can make things a little quicker and more convenient with Horizon Forbidden West’s fast travel system.

Unlocking Fast Travel Points

Before you can fast travel anywhere, you’ll first need to have visited a location on the map. Any settlement or icon on your map can be fast traveled to once you’ve visited them once, though this will require a Fast Travel Pack to do so.

The easiest way to use fast travel in Horizon Forbidden West is by visiting the various campfires scattered throughout the world. Not only do these allow you to perform both a ‘Quick’ and ‘Manual’ Save to record your progress , but they also enable to you fast travel for free.

You can find the locations of campfires by opening your map and looking for the campfire icon. Visiting Tallnecks will remove the ‘fog’ covering the map, as will simply exploring these areas on foot or on the back of a mount.

Using Fast Travel in Horizon Forbidden West

This will open your map and you can move your cursor around with the left analog stick to select different areas.

Buying Fast Travel Packs

You can buy a Fast Travel Pack from any merchant in the game for 25 Metal Shards.

horizon fast travel reddit

While these are useful, we generally found that due to the sheer numbers of campfires dotted around the map, you can more often than not save your Metal Shards and fast travel for free using these instead.

That’s everything you need to know on how to fast travel in Horizon Forbidden West . For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki or see more of our coverage on the game below.

Horizon Zero Dawn: How to Fast Travel

Horizon Zero Dawn is a massive, sprawling game that requires a lot of travel, and as such, knowing how to fast travel can save players a lot of time.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released for PlayStation 4 in 2017 and PC in late 2020. With each release, players were floored by the sheer size of the map and the various biomes that accompanied them in Horizon Zero Dawn . But when a map is that large, the problem of quickly navigating it can hamper any game, no matter how great the rest of it is.

Fortunately, like many titles of its ilk, Horizon Zero Dawn and its DLC make use of a fast travel system. So, for players that eventually grow weary of traveling the vast landscape with its haunting beauty, they can take a break from the sights and quickly zip from one objective to the next.

How to Fast Travel

Fast travel around Aloy's post-apocalyptic wonderland is done via campfires. After finding the location of a campfire, its marker on the map (depicted as two crossed sticks with a flame above) will turn from white to green. So long as Aloy is close enough to the campfire, they can open the map to fast travel to any other discovered campfires. There aren't any restrictions on fast traveling, and there are no components needed to use it. So long as a player has found the campfire they want to travel to, they will be able to.

In addition to allowing Aloy to traverse the map quickly, campfires also serve as a point to save the game through either quick or manual saves. Merchants can also be typically found by campfires, and medicinal plants can often be found growing in abundance near campfires in the wilderness. While save spots or rooms will typically protect the player in other games, this is not the case in Horizon Zero Dawn . Dangerous machines can and will spawn near campfires and even wander toward them. However, players can exploit campfires as saving at one and reloading the came will completely restore Aloy's health.

As mentioned before, Horizon Zero Dawn is a gigantic game densely packed with all sorts of secrets, collectibles, harvestable items, and dangerous machines. Fully exploring it will take dozens of hours to complete, and using the campfires to fast-travel will save a lot of time.

Horizon Zero Dawn is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.

How to unlock fast travel in Forza Horizon 5

Image of Chris Studley

Much like in FH4, Forza players can acquire the ability to travel around the Forza Horizon 5 for free. In order to do that, you will need to unlock fast travel. Fast travel can be used by picking a particular event or outpost on the map, and tapping X on it to travel. This can be quite helpful, as it can save a lot time . But in order to do that, be prepared to grind.

In order to unlock fast travel in Forza Horizon 5 to Horizon festival locations, you will need to smash Fast Travel boards. Fast Travel boards are strewn across Mexico, and have those words on the board.

If you look on the FH5 map, you will see these boards listed with a purple icon and a tilted hourglass.

horizon fast travel reddit

50 of these boards exist in Forza Horizon 5. The more boards that are destroyed, the ability to fast travel to certain locations will be unlocked. Smash more, and the price will begin to go down.

Destroy all of those boards, and you can get free and fast travel across Mexico, without having to spend any CR or time.

To fast travel to any part of the road, you will need to purchase the Buenas Vista player house. It costs 2,000,000 CR.

horizon fast travel reddit

We should note that unless you purchased the Treasure Map, the vast majority of these boards will not populate on the map from the onset. Boards become discovered based upon the areas you have been to, and the amount of roads and areas you have visited.

Additionally, there are some boards that can’t be accessed until you unlock PR stunts. Make sure to complete the Horizon Rush Canyon expedition to unlock ramps.

a white sports car next to a fast travel sign in Forza Horizon 5

Fast travel in open-world games is pretty typical, but in Forza Horizon 5 , it’s surprisingly limited. When you first start playing, you can fast-travel, for free, to a single house that you own, but fast-traveling to any other house or festival hotspot is gonna cost you thousands of credits each time. Not ideal.

There is a way around this, but it’s gonna require some upfront scratch and an hour or two of tooling around the map hunting billboards. That may seem like a lot of work, but trust me when I say it’s totally worth it.

The first thing you’ll want to do is save up at least 2 million credits . This may seem like a lot, but thanks to Wheelspins and events (and so long as you’re not buying every McLaren in the shop), you’ll soon find yourself drowning in cash.

With 2 million credits in hand, you’ll want to buy the Buenas Vistas house on Mexico’s western coastline (just north of the hotel). If you’re not seeing it on your map, you may need to complete the first Street Racing expedition in the main campaign, Guanajuato. Once that’s done, Buenas Vistas should be purchasable.

Buying Buenas Vistas unlocks the ability to fast-travel to any point on any road in all of Forza Horizon 5 . This is tremendously useful for getting around quickly, but it doesn’t solve the other problem: It’s still costing you thousands of credits each time you fast travel. Let’s fix that, shall we?

Throughout Forza Horizon 5 ’s map, there are fast travel billboards . If you get close enough, they’ll appear on your radar as small lightning bolts. There are 50 of these in total, and each one you destroy will knock down the price of fast travel by 200 credits. Hit them all, and all of your fast travel will be free!

a white sports car crashing into a Fast Travel board in Forza Horizon 5

In terms of tracking them all down, you can fork out $2.99 in a real-money microtransaction for Forza Horizon 5 ’s Treasure Map (:eyeroll:), which will make all 50 boards appear on your map. The better option: Open up this free interactive map and type “fast travel” into the search box, and it’ll give you all the locations you need. Your in-game radar will gray out the ones you’ve already broken, so you can focus only on the new ones.

Going in a lazy circle around the map, I was able to knock out all the fast travel boards in an hour or two. (There are only two tricky ones, located on top of buildings, but this video should help you nab those .) Toss on a podcast and pick your favorite offroad vehicle, and you’ll have it done before you know it.

Since doing that, holy cow, Forza Horizon 5 is a totally different game for me. I love doing batches of similar events one after the other. Previously, doing all of the Danger Sign jumps would have required a ton of driving (or a ton of money to fast-travel to each one). Now, I’m able to pop around from point to point instantly with my ideal car built for long jumps, and knock them all out in a flash. It doesn’t hurt that, on the Xbox Series X, it takes, like, three seconds to load to a new location anywhere on the map.

Moral of the story: While it may seem like homework, nab all those fast travel boards in Forza Horizon 5 . Your future self will thank you for it.

Horizon Zero Dawn: How to Fast Travel

Image of JosephYaden

With the release of Horizon Zero Dawn  — Complete Edition on PC, players are jumping into one of the best open worlds of the generation for the first time (or again after playing it on PS4). That said, you’ll probably want to fast travel around the world to make better use of your time.

In Horizon , fast travel works a little differently than you might expect, so in this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you’ll need to know. Keep in mind, fast traveling works the same, whether you’re on PC or PS4 .

How to Fast Travel in Horizon Zero Dawn

The Horizon Zero Dawn map showing a green campfire fast travel icon in the middle of the map.

To fast travel, open your map and hover over one of the green Campfires scattered around the world. On PS4, you can press “R2” while hovering on it to fast travel.

For PC, it works the same, but obviously, if you’re using a different gamepad or mouse and keyboard, the input will be something different than “R2.” The map menu itself will tell you which button or key to press.

When you do press the Travel button, a small menu will appear, letting you know fast traveling costs 1x Fast Travel Pack . This is to eliminate the ability to simply zip around the map with ease —  at least at first. If you don’t have a Fast Travel Pack, you can’t fast travel.

How to Get a Fast Travel Pack

An inventory screen showing the fast travel pack and the components needed to craft it.

Fast Travel Packs can be acquired in a couple of ways. Either you can purchase one from a merchant with the following materials:

  • 2 Metal Shards
  • 15 Ridge-Wood
  • 1 Rich Meat

Or you can construct them yourself with:

  • 1 Fatty Meat
  • 1 Bony Meat

Both are effective  — just make sure you take a look at your resources to determine which will work best for you. For us, it was much easier to simply trade with a merchant than to try and make one ourselves, due to the availability of the required materials.

We do recommend that you at least have one set of resources on hand to make one yourself, just in case you get caught in a spot in which you’d need to fast travel. You’ll be annoyed if you run out of packs and the materials needed to craft one, even if exploring Horizon  is a fun and rewarding experience.

There is one other way to fast travel towards the latter portion of the game, and it grants you unlimited uses. For this, you’ll need the Golden Fast Travel Pack .

Golden Fast Travel Pack

An inventory screen showing a hide bag, case, and pack for golden fast travel pack.

To acquire the Golden Fast Travel Pack, you have to purchase it from a merchant in Meridian City , but it will only be available once you’ve reached the “ Into the Borderlands ” quest.

It will cost:

  • 50 Metal Shards
  • 10 Fatty Meats

If you’ve explored thoroughly and taken the time to hunt animals, you’ll probably already have the 50 Metal Shards and the 10 Fatty Meats needed to purchase the pack. If not, Metal Shards are found on the corpses of machines, while Fatty Meats are best acquired from killing wild boars. Though, many animals will reward you with Fatty Meats, so keep hunting, and you’ll get 10 in no time.

The real challenge will be in locating and acquiring Fox Skin . It’s best to search for foxes in green areas of the map that contain grass . You can click in “R3” on PS4 to easily locate animals around you.

Do note that the Fox Skin won’t immediately drop for you. It’ll take several tries, but eventually, a fox will drop the skin. Luckily, you only need one.

That’s everything you need to know about fast travel in Horizon Zero Dawn , including how to get various travel packs. For more on HZD , please visit its hub page here .

There’s A Whole Set Of Hidden FF7 Rebirth Scenes You Probably Missed

One of the most unique co-op games ever is coming to xbox game pass may 14, fallout's permanent setting officially confirmed (& some fans won't be happy).

As Aloy traverses through the vast world of Horizon Zero Dawn , she may feel the pressing need to fast travel more and more, but fast travel packs are one-time-use items that quickly get annoying to restock. Fortunately for Aloy, there is an unlimited fast travel pack. Where can she get this golden fast travel pack?

Related:  All Power Cell Locations in Horizon: Zero Dawn

Fast travel isn't just a magical ability that allows Aloy to go anywhere though. First, she must traverse and discover campfires, settlements, cauldrons, and tallnecks throughout her travels. These spots will be her points that she can fast travel across the map.

How to Get the Golden Fast Travel Pack in Horizon Zero Dawn

As the standard fast travel packs are a one-use item and hard to find, players will likely have to stock up on them in the earlier stages of the game. At this point in time in the game, they can also be quite expensive as players will likely want to spend their metal shards on spears, bows , and other weapons to defeat the different metal monsters .

The golden fast travel pack is luckily not too difficult to get. This pack is available at any merchant that is above the second tier. This pack can be bought for either 50 metal shards, one fox skin, and 10 pieces of fatty meat in a regular game or 2,000 metal shards, three fox skins, and 30 pieces of fatty meat in a new game plus. While metal shards are the main form of currency in the game, they are often bolstered with an added trade item.

In this case, the fox skin and fatty meat. Obviously, the fox skin can be taken from any fox, but may not spawn with every one hunted. The fatty meat can be hunted from animals such as the badger, boar, fox, goat, goose, owl, rabbit, raccoon, salmon, squirrel, trout, and turkey. With this in mind, a player will just need to take part in a little flesh and blood animal hunting to get their extra trading components for the golden fast travel pack.

With this pack in hand, Aloy will now be able to travel from one end of her discovered map to the other without any need to hesitate and think over her finances. This pack can help out players who are challenging themselves often and fighting metal monsters that they aren't quite positive on how to beat. Whether Aloy needs an easy escape route or is simply tired of fighting her way across the land, the golden fast travel pack is incredibly useful.

As beautiful as the world of Horizon: Zero Dawn is, walking from one place to another may not seem like a bad idea. You’ll, however, soon realize that it can get hectic fairly quickly. That’s where the ability to fast travel comes into equation. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about how to fast travel in Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Horizon: Zero Dawn Fast Travel

There are 2 different methods of fast traveling in the game and both of them require a bit of legwork.

The first one involves finding campfires/settlements located around the game’s world. Once you’ve discovered a settlement, it should be marked in green on your map. You should then be able to simply click on it and instantly fast travel to it. As you might’ve guessed by now, this method only involves fast traveling to settlements/campfires only.

The second method, on the other hand, allows you to fast travel to anywhere (not just settlements/campfires) but requires valuable resources. This method requires you to find or buy Fast Travel Packs. You can find them as quest rewards or simply buy them from merchants for resources i.e. 2x Metal Shards, 15x Ridge-Wood, 1x Rich Meat.

Since these are valuable resources, it can get pretty expensive to fast travel in HZD. Luckily, you won’t have to rely on buying Fast Travel Packs for long.

After completing “The City of the Sun to Meridian”, you’ll be able to buy the Golden Fast Travel Pack. Unlike the normal Fast Travel Packs, this one allows you to fast travel an unlimited amount of times – anywhere.

Buying the Golden Fast Travel Pack can be pretty expensive considering it’s a one-time investment.

It requires 50x Metal Shards, 1x Fox Skin, 10x Fatty Meat. Since there’s a bit of RNG involved in finding these items (especially the Fox Skin) it might take you a lot of time farming them. With all these items in your inventory, you’ll need to head over to Meridian and speak with a Hunters Goods vendor to buy the Golden Fast Travel Pack.

That’s how you can fast travel in Horizon: Zero Dawn. If you are interested in learning more then you can check out our guide on how you can override machines . For more help on the game, you can check out our detailed Horizon: Zero Dawn wiki guides .

Fast travel is one of those game mechanics which are a must-have for modern games. Horizon Forbidden West’s map is 5 miles long. Meaning it can take quite some time to get from one end to the other.

To put that into retrospect, it takes 30 minutes on a land mount and 12 minutes on a flying mount. Thankfully, Horizon Forbidden West’s fast travel is well thought-out and makes moving around much easier. This is especially useful when trying to collect items for secret weapons like Regalla’s Wrath or the Wings of the Ten .

Let’s dive into Horizon Forbidden West’s fast travel mechanics without further ado!

  • Horizon Forbidden West features a Fast Travel System utilizing “Campfires” spread across the map.
  • Two ways to fast travel: easily between campfires or using resources with Fast Travel Packs.
  • Obtain fast travel ability early in the game through the mission “To the Brink.”
  • Within 20 meters of an unlocked campfire, use it for fast travel (indicated by a white icon).
  • Fast Travel Packs can be used from anywhere to a campfire, available for purchase (25 metal shards) or crafting (3 Wild Meat, 10 Ridge Wood).
  • Maximum of 50 Fast Travel Packs can be held at once.
  • The Base serves as a hub for quick travel without consuming Fast Travel Packs

How to Fast Travel for free

  • Two methods of travel: free (between campfires) and resource-exhausting.
  • Free travel is restricted to initiation from a campfire, not possible from anywhere on the map.
  • Fast travel limited to campfires or settlements with campfires that have been visited before.
  • Campfires are made available for fast travel by being within 20m of them, turning the icon white.
  • To initiate fast travel, approach the unlocked campfire and hold down the circle button to access the menu.
  • Choose a campfire near the desired location to complete the fast travel process

Campfires in shelters also have another use, changing the time of the day. You get to pick between the four options:

  • Morning (4 Hours)
  • Afternoon (9 Hours)
  • Evening (15 Hours)
  • Night (19 Hours)

Though do keep in mind this feature comes a little later in the game and not as immediately as Fast Travel.

How to Fast Travel with Fast Travel Packs

  • In Horizon Forbidden West, Fast Travel Packs are essential for traveling from any location on the map to a specific campfire.
  • Unlike the first game’s Golden Fast Travel Pack, which allowed unlimited fast travel, regular Fast Travel Packs are now used upon each travel.
  • Fast Travel Packs enable travel even during battles, offering a convenient escape option.
  • While they cannot be used when falling or during story sequences, Fast Travel Packs provide flexibility in various situations.
  • To use Fast Travel Packs, open the map, hover over the desired campfire, press R2, and confirm or cancel the use of a Fast Travel Pack

Travel Packs to save time

The Fast Travel Packs also allow you to travel to other discovered locations such as Ruins, Tallnecks, and Melee Pits.

How to acquire Fast Travel Packs

You will most likely want to keep some Fast Travel Packs on you for emergency purposes. To acquire them, you can either craft or purchase them.

Merchants in the wild and in settlements sell these Fast Travel Packs for 25 metal shards . Although at a low price, shards also have a more important use case in upgrading weapons and buying the best armors . So, your next best bet is to craft them yourself.

Fast Travel Pack From Merchant

Crafting a Fast Travel Pack simply costs 3 Wild Meat and 10 Ridge Wood . With both the resources being vastly available throughout the map, crafting seems like the better option. Wild Meat can be harvested from boars, whereas Ridge Wood is literally everywhere. Ridge Wood is the same item used for crafting arrows for regular or best bows and looks like small dead trees.

Fast Travel Pack Crafting

Regardless of whether you buy the item or craft it, you can hold up to 50 Fast Travel Packs. If you’re not in the middle of a treasure hunt, 50 is an ample amount for regular playthroughs.

With that, we wrap up all there is to know about Horizon Forbidden West Fast Travel. Make sure to utilize the campfires as much as you can to zip around the map freely. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions!

Horizon Zero Dawn: How To Get Unlimited Fast Travel | Beginner’s Guide

Only on PS4: Here's how fast travel works in Horizon Zero Dawn. You'll need materials for each trip -- unless you unlock an infinite supply of travel packs.

The post-apocalypse of Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t exactly a friendly place. With massive mechanical beasts and crazed cultists, there’s plenty of reasons why you’ll want to safely skip out on those long treks back to civilization. The only problem? It’ll cost you — fast travel doesn’t come free in Horizon Zero Dawn , and you’ll have to pay in the long-run, or drop a lot of scrap early to unlock an unlimited amount of fast travel.

Below, we’ll describe how to craft Fast Travel Packs, and how to get the special Golden Fast Travel Pack that unlocks an infinite amount of fast travel tokens. Either way, you’re going to have to save some parts / materials.

Fast Travel — How It Works

Similar to any other open-world adventure, you’ll be able to travel to-and-from any campfires or settlements you’ve discovered in the world. Bring up the map and select the icon to initiate fast travel — if you’ve got a special item called a “ Fast Travel Pack “.

The Fast Travel Pack is what you’ll need to move around freely (and quickly) in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. These packs can be crafted anywhere if you’ve got the ingredients.

Fast Travel Packs aren’t cheap. You’ll need to save up plenty of materials to stay stocked on fast travel, especially if you plan on using it regularly.

  • Scroll down to “Travel” and Select the Pack Icon
  • x15 Ridge-Wood
  • x1 Fatty Meat
  • x1 Bony Meat

There’s another way you can fast travel without crafting endless Fast Travel Packs — you can purchase the Golden Fast Travel Pack using in-game currency from a vendor.

How to Unlock Unlimited Fast Travel

If you’re planning on fast travelling early and often, you can purchase a Golden Fast Travel Pack from a vendor. Buying this item completely replaces Fast Travel Packs, allowing you to infinitely travel without using precious crafting materials every time. It isn’t that expensive, and can be unlocked fairly early in the game.

  • Location: Go to the Meridian settlement and talk to the merchant in the market square to purchase a Golden Fast Travel pack in the Resources tab.
  • x50 Metal Shards
  • x1 Fox Skin
  • x10 Fatty Meat

One Golden Fast Travel Pack costs a lot more than a simple Fast Travel Pack, but the investment is worth it. It’s easy to overlook this enhanced item at the bottom of the merchant’s resources list.
