Roxann was our winery tour guide and Holy moly what a fantastic day! Communication was great and when she picked us up for our tour she was right on time. She took the time to ask about our wine preferences and tailored the day to those. Her knowledge of the different wineries and surrounding areas, including some history about Grand Junction was so interesting and helpful. We felt like we spent the day with a friend. It was simply a perfect day, thanks to Roxann!

We visited Grand Junction and Palisade recently for five days. One of our main goals was to do a wine tour. Roxann exceeded our expectations. She was prompt, easy to work with, very knowledgeable about the wines and vineyards, and she knows the vintners. She is also a hoot! We had a wonderful time visiting 6 vineyards with lunch. Roxann did the driving so we could relax and enjoy ourselves. I highly recommend the personalized wine tour with Grand Junction Tours and Roxann. You will not be disappointed.

I can truly say that Roxann has been my favorite tour guide of all time! Not only was she very knowledgeable and reasonably priced, but she was also super fun and took great pictures of our wine tour! My friend and I wouldn't have had as much fun as we did without her! If you're looking for someone who knows the area and wineries well, along with being accommodating, personable, and fun, then Roxann is your guide!

We had a fantastic time with Roxann on our Grand Junction wine tour! We travelled from Virginia to Grand Junction and enjoyed having a private tour guide and driver for the day. Roxann was extremely informative about wine making, wine history, and wine tasting. She also provided insight into local history and attractions. Roxann has an outgoing, vibrant personally which makes you feel welcomed and made the day so fun! I highly recommend going on a tour with Grand Junction Tours! This was definitely the highlight of our trip.

This was my first guided tour and with a sommelier in training. High energy and great knowledge of the wines and the area that she was giving the tour. It really took the stress out and I could relax and enjoy the countryside. This is a much safer alternative to wine tasting and it's only $30 an hour we ended up tipping Roxanne an extra 15. I would definitely suggest doing the Grand Junction to her the next time we go wine tasting.

We had a great time touring the wineries with Roxann. We had six of us looking for a fun afternoon and saw Grand Junction Tours on Yelp. Called Roxann about 12 o'clock and she took us touring at 2. Thank you Roxann for taking us on short notice.

Your are oh so welcome! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and good luck today up at Cameo

My wife and I spent a wonderful morning with Roxann in the colorado National Monument. Although it was a rainy day Roxann provided us with an outstanding tour. She expertly navigated the road and made numerous stops to point out various rock formations. She pointed out the rain would be short lived which it was. This made for outstanding photos! Thank you...

grand junction winery tours

Last weekend, a friend and I had a 4 hour tour of the local wineries with Roxanne. Our tour exceeded all expectations and we had a wonderful day. Roxanne is so knowledgable about the wines and wineries that truly enhanced our experiences at each and every winery. She is completely professional and a lot of fun. I highly recommend her and am looking forward to my next tour with her!

You’re welcome Katie. I enjoyed you ladies and look forward to meeting up with you in Glenwood.

Photo of Jim S.

We booked Roxanne to lead the two of us on a wine tasting tour this week (Oct. 2018). She carefully asked about our preferences (I like white, my wife likes red, and neither of us are wine sophisticates). She also asked how long a tour we wanted to take. The tour is priced on a per-hour basis (and very reasonable) and she was careful not to 'run the meter'. With that she suggested wineries to try, giving us background on each of them -- their specialties, their history, etc. (she assured us she doesn't receive commissions from any of them). She accompanied us to the tasting rooms, introducing the staff, and answering our questions. She made the whole tour seem like a small, fun party. It was the highlight of our trip to Grand Junction and if we manage to go back next year, we'll absolutely do the whole tour again!

Oct 20, 2018

Thank you Jim! You and Meredith were a delight to tour. It would be my pleasure to tour you again next year!!

Wine Tasting in Grand Junction

Colorado may not be the first location that comes to mind when winemaking is mentioned, but the state does have a growing wine industry, and the heart of it is here in the fertile Grand Valley. Area wineries welcome visitors for tastings and sometimes tours, and most have picnic areas, so bring your lunch. Organized tours by van or limousine are also available. Most wineries are located in the community of Palisade , about 12 miles east of Grand Junction, up the Grand Valley along U.S. 6 (I-70 exit 42).

The state's oldest existing winery, Colorado Cellars Winery , 3553 E Rd., Palisade (tel. 800/848-2812 or 970/464-7921; www.coloradocellars.com), produces an award-winning selection of chardonnays, merlots, Rieslings, fruit wines, and port. In summer, tasting room hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, and Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Carlson Vineyards , 461 35 Rd., Palisade (tel. 888/464-5554 or 970/464-5554; www.carlsonvineyards.com), produces a variety of easy-drinking wines from Colorado fruit. Visitors are welcome year-round daily from 10am to 6pm. Meadery of the Rockies , 3701 G Rd., Palisade (tel. 970/464-7899 ; www.meaderyoftherockies.com), produces honey wine -- also known as mead, the "drink of the gods." Popular in medieval times, mead contains no grapes, but is made from orange-blossom honey. The tasting room is open daily 10am to 5pm.

Other Palisade wineries include Grande River Vineyards , 787 Elberta Ave. (tel. 970/464-5867 ; www.granderiverwines.com); Plum Creek Cellars , 3708 G Rd. (tel. 970/464-7586 ; www.plumcreekwinery.com); Garfield Estates Winery , located on a 100-year-old homestead at 3572 G Rd. (tel. 970/464-0941 ; www.garfieldestates.com); Canyon Wind Cellars , 3907 N. River Rd. (tel. 970/464-0888 ; www.canyonwindcellars.com); St. Kathryn Cellars , 785 Elberta Ave. (tel. 970/464-9288 ; www.st-kathryn-cellars.com); Debeque Canyon Winery , 3943 U.S. 6 (tel. 970/464-0550 ; www.debequecanyonwinery.com); and Amber Ridge Vineyards , 3820 G 1/4 Rd. (tel. 970/464-5314 ; www.amberridgevineyards.com).

Wineries in Grand Junction include: Two Rivers Winery , 2087 Broadway (tel. 866/312-9463 or 970/255-1471; www.tworiverswinery.com), and Whitewater Hill Vineyards , 220 32 Rd. (tel. 970/434-6868 ; www.whitewaterhill.com). South of Grand Junction about 7 miles is Reeder Mesa Vineyards , 7799 Reeder Mesa Rd., Whitewater (tel. 970/242-7468 ; www.reedermesawines.com).

The Colorado Wine Room , 455 Kokopelli Blvd., Fruita, (tel. 877/858-6330 or 970/858-6330; www.coloradowineroom.com), is located near the Colorado Welcome Center just off I-70 exit 19 in Fruita, west of Grand Junction. It offers tastings and sales of over 25 Colorado wines. It's open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5:30pm and Sunday from noon to 5pm. Maps to the wineries and additional information can be obtained from the Grand Junction Visitor & Convention Bureau and online at www.coloradowinecountry.com .

Palisade is just as famous for its fruit orchards as it is for its vineyards and wineries. Most fruit is picked between late June and mid-September, when it's available at roadside fruit stands. For a fruit directory, harvest schedule, and map, contact the Palisade Chamber of Commerce , 319 Main St., Palisade (P.O. Box 729), CO 81526 (tel. 970/464-7458 ; www.palisadecoc.com).
