Edwin McCain is a singer-songwriter hailing from Charleston, South Carolina. In 1997, the alternative rock artist released his breakthrough hit “I’ll Be” off his sophomore album Misguided Roses . The song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album charted on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. In 1999, the singer scored another Top 40 hit with the Diane Warren-penned “I Could Not Ask For More,” which was included on the soundtrack for the 1999 film Message in a Bottle starring Kevin Costner, Robin Wright, and Paul Newman. McCain is often closely associated with close friends and frequent tourmates Hootie & the Blowfish.

Edwin McCain is opening for Hootie & the Blowfish on their Summer Camp with Trucks Tour. The tour begins May 30, 2024 in Dallas, Texas and will continue across the U.S. through September, making one stop in Toronto, Ontario. 

Before hitting the road with Darius Rucker and co., McCain will also play three solo dates in South Carolina and Florida in December and January.

I've seen Edwin McCain probably 25-30 times over the past 30 years. Never seen a bad show. We laugh, we cry, we sing. Always entertaining, always polished. So much talent. Thank you, Edwin and Bandmates for all the years of sharing your gift with us.

Edwin McCain’s fantastic concert

I originally got tickets because my daughter selected his song “Walk With You” for our father/daughter dance at her wedding. The lyrics will crush any father. To our pleasant surprise, he played with a full band and they rocked! The entire band was great, the lead guitarist was outstanding! Edwin makes many comical and appropriate comments throughout the show and he has many great songs that touch the heart. For the encore they did Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” - great ending to a great show!

Edwin gave a great performance

Edwin McCain sang great, the music was fantastic and his band was equally as good as he was. Great evening except for a dozen or so immature, loud, unpleasant people in the audience who were complete morons. They were yellling out at McCain, singing very loud off key, just generally people who apparently could care less about everyone else in attendance. Even Edwin was put off several times by their noise, and responded in kind! McCain gave them the freebird!

Edwin’s music is so very entwined with lives of my family. Since our children were babies we have always enjoyed his music and song writing. our children, now in their 30s have a very special relationship with Edwin’s music as do my wife (for 36 years now) and I. His banter and stories between songs truly make us feel as if he is speaking directly to us! I can’t say enough about how this man and his songs have shaped our lives and we love to give that appreciation and support back, whenever he is preforming anywhere near us so we can attend his shows. As with a million other dad’s I suppose, my daughter and I danced at her wedding to “Walk with you” and the meaning behind the lyrics made our hearts swell the entire dance. Never ever miss an Edwin McCain performance if you can help it. It is an epic experience and we always feel special to be in his presence, as humble and congenial as he is. Thank you for sharing your music Edwin McCain! Keep it coming and we will keep listening. Show was phenomenal as was the venue and the ticket acquisition process.

Not Our Usual Edwin

I flew from Seattle to Virginia to introduce my sister to the magic of Edwin McCain. I had seen him three times before and each time he was nothing short of spectacular. Unfortunately, this time he was short. Edwin has one of the most powerful voices I have ever heard live. Combined with a wonderful guitar playing talent and a terrific band, crowds always beg for more. But this show was different. His usual trio featured two more members. Not to say they were not talented in their own right, they were. But in this show, he had a tendency to harmonize his songs rather than sing with the passion I had grown used to. The change in tempo did not go over well with me. It was more of an experimentation concert. For example, my favorite song is Solitude. Which is kind of an angry song about a boy's Mom, who puts him in a mental institution when he is clearly well. The song was originally sung with Darius Rucker but has been featured as an encore solo that Edwin sings such veracity you would think he was the one who was once locked up. This time he sung it at a slower tempo with a new bandmate joining in. It did not work for me. The audience did not give him the love that usually is given after the song is played. All of us were clearly disappointed. Last time I saw Edwin play, it was in an auditorium that had no acoustics. He sung a George Michael song in closing. It may have been One More Try. I never thought anyone could challenge George Michael when singing one of his songs, but Edwin was magnificent. He was clearly on another level. This concert he chose a song I believe was from Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. It didn't allow him to show off the chops he clearly has. Though I know he always sings at least two encore songs I left after this one and called it a night to avoid traffic. Edwin McCain is still one of the most talented acts in the business, but he needs to be greedy and be the primary singer. It was perplexing why he changed tempo to allow another to sing with him when he is the powerful voice we paid for. I will always catch Edwin when it is convenient because he is one of the best out there. But I am keeping my fingers crossed that the next time I venture out to see him he realizes that it is he who we want to show off. No one else needs to be in his spotlight.

I have seen Edwin before, but not in such small venue with the full band. He and they were absolutely amazing and awesome!!! Can't wait to see them again!!

Edwin McCain, originally from Greenville, South Carolina is a singer songwriter best known for his hit singles “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More”.

McCain’s career started out when he embarked on a tour with Hootie and the Blowfish. This fortunately led to him attracting the attention of Atlantic Records, whom he signed with in 1994. He entered the studio the same year to record his debut major label release, “Honor Among Thieves” on the same division, “Lava Records” as Matchbox Twenty, Kid Rock and Jewel. He released his second album, “Misguided Roses” On June 24th 1997. The album went to number 73 on the Billboard 200 chart, and spawned the hit single “I’ll Be” which made it to number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has since been featured in the TV show “Higher Ground” and the motion picture, A Cinderella Story.

On June 15th 1999, Edwin McCain released the album “Messenger” which made it to number 59 in the Billboard 200. It featured the hit single written by Dianne Warren, “I Could Not Ask for More” which reached number 37 in the Billboard Hot 100. Still on the Atlantic Record Label, McCain released the album “Far From Over” which unfortunately didn’t make it into the top 100, but it did however, feature the single “Hearts Fall” which made it to number 27 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

Unfortunately, between the release of “Lost in America” in 2006 and “Mercy Bound”, McCain didn’t have any commercial success, but he still tours nationally, including performing on board USS John C. Stennis, whilst it was on a Western Pacific deployment in Guam.

So, I actually got to meet Edwin McCain at a charity golf tournament last year, but I’d never had a chance to see him in concert until now so when one of my friends got tickets, I jumped at the chance.

We saw him at the Tillman Auditorium in Clemson, and it was the PERFECT place to see him. The acoustics were amazing, and the concert felt way more intimate than I would have ever expected. I was surprised that his voice is even better in person than on a CD or on the radio-the man can flat out sing! I’m so used to studio alteration and autotune that it was so nice to hear just a great, smooth voice that didn’t need anything to be perfect.

He was really entertaining throughout the show, making jokes and talking to people in the audience-it made the show feel more personal and really enhanced the experience for me. One of the coolest things was that he would tell little stories about his life and give details about the meanings behind his songs.

It really made me feel like it was more than a concert-it was almost like getting to know an old friend. My favorite song was an a capella version of “I’ll Be” that was so beautiful it literally brought tears to my eyes. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever gone to, and I’ll definitely see him again if I have the chance!

Edwin made a joke before the show started that he was going to give 30% and go home. Let me tell you that 30% would've been good enough. He gave 100% and it was amazing. I've NEVER seen him give anything less. The guy is so talented and such a great songwriter. There were no drums at this show. It was just him, lead guitar and sax.

It was a small venue and I told my wife that it was either going to be horrible or the best. It was the best. The only way it could've been better was if the "Woo" girls (girls that yell "Woo" throughout the quiet songs) and the drunk woman stubbornly yelling "Romeo & Juliet" throughout the night would've not showed up.

We definitely won't forget this show.

Edwin McCain never disappoints! So incredibly talented, and always has the very best musicians in his band. I’ve seen him live once before with the full band. Last night’s performance was an acoustic set and did not disappoint. He’s so humble, down to earth, and funny as well. Not only do you get some incredible music at one of his shows, but you also get a lot of hilarious and jokes and from him, and he shares some funny experiences. Definitely go see him if you ever have the chance, he’s outstanding! 5 stars hands down! Thanks Edwin, and please come back to Kentucky more often!

If you haven't seen Edwin in concert you REALLY should! He puts on a fantastic show! This was the first time we've seen him at an acoustic show and it was stellar! Intimate, comfortable venue plus talented musicians plus entertaining storytellers make for a fabulous evening!

My husband and I really enjoyed his opening act, Luke Wade, too! Luke's heartfelt lyrics and comfortable stage presence coupled with his beautiful voice put him on the list of artists we'd definitely like to see again!

We have seen Edwin many times and he killed it last night. City Winery was a Terrific intimate venue with a wonderful staff and wonderful sound. Edwin and the band still amazes us playing 2.5 hours non stop without a break. The Playlist was wonderful (only missed Romeo and Juliet) and loved all the personal stories.

We can't wait to see him again and come back to City Winery.

Edwin McCain has been one of my favorite artists for a long time. Misguided Roses album - love it! Center for the Arts in Homer, NY was the perfect venue for his concert. He not only has an incredible voice but he's a great storyteller and has a great sense of humor. I would go see him again in a heartbeat! 10 stars for sure!

The opener was Humming House and they were amazing. I love Edwin MCCain and his stories are very entertaining but one slow song after another was a little sleepy. It felt a little redundant but the venue was amazing and will go there again for sure.

Awesome Evening! Edwin McCain and group did an amazing job, Enjoyed his testimony at the end about mother/birth mother and the song he wrote to them. "The Blue Note" was nice place, great service, however they need to work on the food...not very good!

Fantastic show never disappoints. Always great to see him play. Was great that he cane out after show for photos and autographs. Only wish he came to Minneapolis more often. Can’t wait to see him again.

Love Edwin, have for years. The Boathouse was A perfect venue, almost like having my own back yard concert. He's a great entertainer for young and old alike. Just can't say enough good things about him

Edwin McCain is opening for Hootie & the Blowfish on their Summer Camp with Trucks Tour. The tour begins May 30, 2024 in Dallas, Texas and will continue across the U.S. through September, making one stop in Toronto, Ontario.

Edwin - always leaves us wanting more!!

After waiting over 6 years for Edwin to come close enough for us to see him again, we could not have been happier with his performance. We only wish the concert would have been longer as we would have been happy to stay all night and listen to his amazing songs and touching and entertaining stories. He is tops in our book and we just can't wait for him to come back.

This was our first time seeing a concert at the Bears Den and we were plesently surprised. What a intimate venue ! We were in the back row and still felt like we had great seats, 10 rows back at the most. Sound was incredible, clear powerful and dynamic. Edwin was phenomenal ! Great seection of songs, excellent wth the crowd, great storey teller, funny, and what a voice and guitar player. Very impressive ! We walked out of there completely satisfied. Only complaint was it was not long enough, we could have listened to a couple more of our favorites even after two encores. All in all a very enjoyable evening. Thanks Edwin and thanks Seneca Niagara Casino !
