Cult of Luna’s Johannes Persson comments:
“Not knowing what to expect when we got out from our unexpected and involuntary hiatus, we were blown away by the numbers of people that came to see us. The love we received was truly moving and it felt like the tour just started when it was over. But time moves quickly and soon it’s time to get out again. In these chaotic conditions that the world is in right now, we can’t do much than trust in music as a rewarding constant. A tool of power and comfort. We hope to see you out there next year.”

For over two decades Cult of Luna have forged a sound incomparable to others – ambitious, epic, visceral, and drenched in emotion. Earlier this year Cult Of Luna released their latest full-length; The Long Road North marks as a follow-up to last year’s The Raging River EP . As is the case with every album from the band in recent years, there is a lot of shifting of dynamics and sonic density, and perhaps more so than usual on The Long Road North . “ It’s a big and cinematic sounding album. I think one of the reasons why we have been able to be so productive the last couple of years is that we have been consistently writing from the heart. We have let our instincts guide us, and I think it’s getting clearer where we are heading ,” reveals vocalist/guitarist Johannes Persson, who has been one of the primary driving forces behind the band since their inception.
Persson continues, “ The long road north is a long road home. A direction dictated by a call that penetrates rock and echoes through the forest. It flows over every lake, accelerated by the wind. When it reaches you, you know it’s time. Time to move forward. You don’t know where it will lead but you put the trust in it. With eyes raised towards the midnight sun it pulls you closer. The road is long and the end is uncertain. “
The Long Road North features guest appearances from composer Colin Stetson, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz of French indie band Phoenix, and Mariam Wallentin (Wildbirds And Peacedrums).

Cult of Luna + Russian Circles
New schedule: doors 18:30 – show 19:00
Cult of Luna
The Raging River . Title of Cult of Luna ‘s last album, it’s also an ideal description of the intense sensations felt when listening to the tracks: 5 tracks, 38 minutes 33 seconds, a whole sequence of atmospheres projecting us in the depths of the band’s native Sweden. And then the voice of Johannes Persson wakes us up. A mysterious and exhilarating epic. A drowning from which one goes up.
Russian Circles
Do you like intense, almost cinematographic atmospheres, with a touch of drama? Welcome to Russian Circles . This trio from Chicago dismantles preconceived ideas with their smashing instrumental compositions. From album to album, the riffs follow one another, and we nod our heads very loudly.
Between two harmonies sung by Serena Cherry, Svalbard depicts in its tracks realities that are raw, sometimes poignant, without ever looking away. The single Silent Restraint , released in 2021, bodes well for the future, if we refer to the band’s pace: 4 albums in 5 years, the next one should not be too far away.
- Cult of Luna + Russian Circles + Svalbard
Leading post-metal bands will play two joint shows in Poland. Cult of Luna and Russian Circles are going for a cohedliner tour across the Old Continent, during which they will visit Krakow and Warsaw. British band Svalbard will play as a support.
Cult of Luna and Russian Circles are formations which don't have to prove anything on the post-metal scene anymore. These bands have been consistently following their own paths for years, but in both cases we can find a common element – emphasis on atmosphere and filling the songs with emotions. Their latest releases, The Long Road North (Cult of Luna) and Blood Year (Russian Circles), indicate that there is no question of a decline in form, and the compositions themselves are characterized by a high concert potential. Both concerts will be supported by a British band Svalbard, whose mixture of post-rock, black metal and d-beat is attracting attention of more and more people on the European scene.

The uncrowned leaders of post-metal from Sweden are bringing a new album to Prague and their tour-company couldn't be more enticing. Cult of Luna's long road from the North has brought them together with the legendary Chicago post-trio Russian Circles.
CULT OF LUNA is one of those bands that represent an overall vision of a concept thought out in detail. As a result, their albums are an experience that takes concerts to an even higher level because of their visual sophistication. The sound and lighting design, the timing and synchronisation, the on-stage positioning. Everything connected by an idea. The Swedish sextet, which includes a duo of drummers, wants to come up with something fresh and untried every time, and to reveal previously unexplored places in order to push the boundaries of a genre that has been diminishing over their 25-year career. Last year they ventured North and once again created a sound that is unmatched by any other. Ambitious, epic and saturated with emotion that, in songs often over eight minutes, explode not just at the precise moment, but resonate with every moment. With "A Dawn To Fear" (2019), they perhaps brought the pinnacle of their career and continued the journey started by that record on the EP "The Raging River" (2021). But every journey has an end and a final destination. That turned out to be North. On last year's "The Long Road North", one of the most dynamic and beautiful works of the atmo-metal genre ever, the uncrowned leaders of post-metal bring the concept to perfection. On the tour for the current record, the Swedish hegemony joins forces with the instrumental post-trio RUSSIAN CIRCLES. On their previous seven albums, these also legends have got through a diverse topography of sounds, moods and approaches, mixing drone meditation, progressive approach, powerful riffing, captivating balladry and tension-filled noise rock. But always while maintaining consistency. However, on their latest album Gnosis, due to the circumstances of isolation in the covid period, RUSSIAN CIRCLES rethought the songwriting process and instead of composing from scraps of ideas, the songs were written and recorded separately before the writers shared them with the other members. With the new method, the Chicagoans have created their most thrilled and concentrated work to date - an album that favors the exorcism of two-year-old tension over the melancholy and a certain restraint that have often tinged their past efforts. And it's a force! Also sharing the line with both bands are England's SVALBARD, who settle their atmospheric musical visions, complete with two voices, into a d-beat rhythm, and you can detect more euphoric black or post-rock passages in their sound.

Russian Circles Announce New Album ‘Gnosis’, Share “Conduit” & World Tour Dates [Listen]
Russian Circles on Thursday announced details of Gnosis , the band’s first new album in three years. Along with the announcement, the instru-metal trio shared the lead single, “Conduit”, and a slate of world tour dates. Gnosis is out on August 18th via Sargent House .
“Conduit” is a relentlessly heavy, riff-driven track that chugs through barrier after barrier. The song is the first preview of the new writing style Mike Sullivan (guitar), Dave Turncrantz (drums), and Brian Cook (bass) employed on their eighth album. Partially a response to COVID-induced social distancing, each member brought fully-formed compositions into the studio, rather than the old method of fleshing out rough concepts as a group. This approach allowed the writers’ initial vision to remain intact as the band sifted through the range of styles presented and plucked out the most “physically cathartic pieces.”

Russian Circles will take Gnosis on the road in the fall with a headlining tour of the U.S. with Rezn as support for the second leg of dates beginning in October (the band has not announced an opener for the first leg in September). In March 2023, Russian Circles will travel to Europe for a co-headlining tour with Cult of Luna .

CULT OF LUNA + RUSSIAN CIRCLES + Svalbard
In March, two of the most prominent and most respected post-metal bands of all time, the legendary Cult of Luna and Russian Circles, return to Kino Šiška. They will be supported by the flagbearers of the current British hardcore scene Svalbard, so we can look forward to an evening of contemporary roaring the likes of which we haven’t experienced in our parts before.
TIMELINE: 19.30 doors 19.45 Svalbard 20.45 Russian Circles 22.15 CULT OF LUNA
Despite the cancellation of their 2022 tour, which would also have brought them to Šiška, atmospheric sludgers Cult of Luna didn’t waste their time. They released their eighth solo album The Long Road North , a mature record that confirmed what those of us who had caught them live before already knew well – the band belongs in the very top of musical experiences, especially those based around unstoppable slow-moving sonic masses. In addition, founding member Johannes Persson also worked on a high-profile collaboration with Perturbator , one of the highlights of the famed Roadburn festival. The band is heading out on on tour next year even stronger and accompanied by another legend of the genre.
It has been more than seven years since Russian Circles last rocked our venue. The Chicago trio released two great new records in that time, the last, Blood Year , in 2019 via Sargent House and under the production guidance of Kurt Ballou ( Converge ). Work on a new release for 2023 is already underway. During the two decades of its existence, one of the most esteemed metal bands has remained faithful to an opulent instrumental sound, always surprising with the originality of their compositions, mastery of their musical instruments and the richness of their sound. Live, they go even further, so we have all reason to believe that the upcoming concert will shake the foundations of Kino Šiška to the core.
When Svalbard ‘s third album When I Die, Will I Get Better? made it to the top 10 albums of 2020 at both Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, it merely confirmed an open secret of the British underground. The Bristolian band is one of the most vital bands in the Isles, and their vortex of aggressive, relentless, no-holds-barred music contains influences from all over – from hardcore to post-rock, from crust to black metal.
