The Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island is a world in itself with such an array of attractions - beaches, shops, water park, golf course and casino - that all cruise lines offer at least one tour to fully enjoy this iconic site of The Bahamas.

Aquaventure Water Park Day Pass

Until a few years ago, all cruise lines used to offer a basic shore excursion to the resort entitled Discover Atlantis Tour. This tour doesn't exist anymore. Instead, most cruise lines now offer the 'Atlantis Aquaventure Day Pass'. This consists of a 5-hour pass which includes access to Aquaventure Water Park, the beautiful beaches and pool of Atlantis, lunch, and transportation to and from the resort.

The Aquaventure Water Park is Atlantis resort massive 141-acre waterscape with pools, water coasters, body slides, rivers and more than 50,000 sea creatures where you will have a one-of-a-kind exciting day. For more information check the Atlantis Official Website .

The Aquaventure Tour is also offered in combination with two one-of-a-kind dolphin experiences - the shallow water interaction and the swimming with dolphins in a deep cay. You can choose to just enjoy any of the Dolphin Interactions or have this combined with the rest of the day at the beach. Celebrity, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean also offer a Sea Lion Interaction.

Shorex Combos

Disney Cruises is the only cruise line that offers the Aquaventure shore excursion combined with other experiences such as kayaking, snorkeling, or paddleboarding with Dolphins. Disney Cruises also offers a 6.5 to 7 Hour experience at the Ocean Club Golf Course for $599.00 including Green fees, clubs, golf cart and shoe rentals but not including beverages and meals.

Other excursions to Atlantis resort

Disney is the only cruise line that keeps the Discover Atlantis Tour and Beach Day cruise excursion - a 6-hour tour priced at $98.00 (ages 10, and up), and $83.00 (ages 4 to 9). The Shore Excursions Group offers a smiliar but shorter tour entitled Discover Nassau Town and Atlantis. This tour by Shore Excursions Group is just 2 Hours and 30 Minutes long, costing $57.00.

Shorex, online or on your own

As most cruise passengers that have booked shore excursions onboard will tell you, the great advantage of doing so is the peace of mind guaranteed by the cruise line. You will not have to look for transportation to Atlantis, negotiate prices with taxi drivers, and when you will be taken back to the ship on time. But you may want to look into other ways of exploring Atlantis.

Online Services

There is the possibility to book online with the many services that offer shore excursions to Atlantis. Prices vary and it is advisable to check what is offered on each tour.

The following online services are well-established companies that guarantee the returning of cruise passengers in good time prior to the departure of the ship. IQCruising does not endorse or get paid to mention any of these services. Direct Booking

Before deciding which is the best excursion for you and your cruising companions, whether it is better to book onboard or with an online service, you may also want to check directly with Atlantis.

Cruise travelers that wish to book a day tour directly with Atlantis will find that the resort will request proof that your sailing on a specific cruise line. Prices may, in some cases, be slightly lower but do not include transportation to Atlantis, located in Paradise Island. Therefore, the savings (if any) may be minimal. But you will be in charge of your own time. Atlantis Day Booking Web Page

How to get to Atlantis

Paradise Island (where Atlantis is located) is connected to Nassau by two bridges but is a bit too far to walk from the cruise terminal. There are two ways of getting to Atlantis on your own. Either by taxi - sharing a large van will cost around $10,00 per person (each way) - or with a ferry boat.

Next to the cruise terminal, on the right side, on Woodes Roger Walk, you will find a Ferry Boat (costs around $8.00 USD return). The ferry will take you on a short cruise through the harbor ending at a dock under the main bridge on Paradise Island. From here you are within walking distance to Atlantis.

What's nearby

If you decide to explore Atlantis on your own, and in particular if you go on the Ferry Boat you may like to walk around and check a few other places on Paradise Island.

The Bahamcraft Center is great for local gifts and souvenirs. A couple of popular restaurants - the Green Parrot Bar and the super famous Margaritaville Bahamas - are ideal for a quick bite or lunch before returning to the cruise ship.

Best shore excursions for Bahamas cruises

Melinda Crow

From lazy lounging on the beach to action-packed water adventures, cruise ship shore excursions in the Bahamas are packed with fun in the sun and sea.

Whether you're looking to get wet, get chill or get stuff, you'll find a way to do it on a shore excursion here. You can swim with pigs and dive with sharks. You can cruise the islands on ATVs or skim across the water on a wide array of vessels. Tours often include time to shop the straw markets, and many also include traditional Bahamian lunches, snacks and/or beverages.

The list of Bahamas tours and activities includes options to suit almost everyone. We sorted through the choices to find you the best Bahamas shore excursions. Ready? Let's dive in.

Prices for the same tours can vary across cruise lines and third-party sellers, so tours are listed below by price ranges, using the following shorthand (per adult):

$= $0-50. $$= $51-99. $$$= $100-199. $$$$=$200-499.

Best Nassau, Bahamas shore excursions

atlantis bahamas cruise excursions royal caribbean

Island food and culinary tour

3-3.5 hours, easy, $$.

Bahamas food and beverage excursions are an ideal way to immerse yourself in the culture of the islands. You'll feast on island specialties and favorites such as conch fritters or salad, rock lobster, traditional cornbread-like Johnny cakes and tropical punches laced with rum. Most cruise lines offer food tours that stop at multiple local eateries. There may be walking involved, so be sure to read your cruise line's description.

Blue Lagoon beach break

Varies, easy to moderate, $$-$$$.

Some of the best excursions in Nassau are to Blue Lagoon Island, a privately owned island with a beach, food, water sports and other activities. You can choose the standard beach break option with lunch, beach games and use of water noodles and tubes. Or you can upgrade to a tour that includes snorkeling or swimming with stingrays, dolphins, sharks and even sea lions. Additional activities can be purchased upon arrival on the island.

Scuba diving with sharks

4.5 hours, moderate, $$$-$$$$.

If you are a certified scuba diver and have ever considered diving with sharks, this is your excursion. The shark dives involve one reef dive, followed by a second dive with everyone kneeling in the sand on the bottom as the shark feeder doles out his goodies. You've heard the term "sharknado?" It's a real thing and being in one is an adrenaline rush you'll never forget.

I should warn the shark-timid among you that because Caribbean reef sharks are plentiful in the waters surrounding Nassau and because dive shops have been doing baited shark dives here for years, you may encounter sharks on any dive in Nassau, though at a bit more distance than during the shark feeds. In fact, I've never not seen a shark while diving here.

Paradise Island and Aquaventure Oasis Waterpark

All day, moderate, $$$$.

Excursions that include access to Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas seem to no longer mention the name of the mega-resort that made Paradise Island famous. If you've always wanted to go, excursions labeled Aquaventure are your ticket.

The day pass includes access to miles of beaches, the on-site casino, and the Aquaventure water park featuring 141 acres of slides, swimming areas, river rides, and wave areas. The pass also allows you to dine in the resort's eateries, explore a myriad of shops or even add an aquatic animal experience like a dolphin swim.

You can purchase Atlantis day passes independently, but the advantage of booking your visit as an excursion is that transportation will be included.

Best shore excursions in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

atlantis bahamas cruise excursions royal caribbean

Freeport island tour, beach and shopping

4 hours, easy, $.

Shore excursions that bundle a tour with a beach break and shopping are always a good choice in the Bahamas. You get to see a bit of the island, learn its history, shop for souvenirs and get in some coveted beach time, all with easy transportation. This kind of tour is especially useful if you've never been to Grand Bahama Island. For a small amount of money, you get to scope the place out for your adventures on your next Bahamas cruise.

Pirate's Cove beach, zipline and waterpark

4 hours, moderate, $$$.

If zip lining is your thing, this is a good place to get your fix. The beachside zip line has options for starting at 50 feet up or 30 feet, making it ideal for newbies wanting to try the experience. Since this excursion also includes time at the beach and floating water park, consider it a deal.

Glass bottom boat shark experience

3 hours, easy, $$$.

Want to see Caribbean reef sharks without putting your toes in the water? This excursion takes you on a glass-bottom boat ride to waters where Caribbean reef sharks have been fed. The boat has ample deck space for sunning when you aren't watching the action below the boat. It's a fun way to spend a day out on the water with an opportunity to see these predators and other colorful tropical fish without fear. Typical Bahamian refreshments round out the fun.

Blue hole snorkeling

5 hours, moderate, $$$.

My rule of thumb is to snorkel at every opportunity while in the Bahamas. It's a fun and easy way to take a peek beneath the waves at the colorful sea life found in these waters. When you book a snorkeling excursion in the Bahamas, gear is provided, including snorkeling vests to keep you afloat.

For the best Bahamas snorkeling, choose a blue hole snorkeling excursion. Blue holes are found throughout the Bahamas and are essentially open-topped caverns, so it's like swimming in a fishbowl. Some are landlocked, where they may be filled with either fresh or salt water, and inhabited by a wide range of aquatic life, including crabs, lobsters, octopus and fish. Others are offshore, below the surface of the ocean, creating a mini reef environment to explore.

This excursion involves a lengthy ride, but it's definitely worth it.

Swim with the pigs

1.5 hours, easy, $$$.

Swimming pigs are kind of a big deal in the Bahamas. Animal lovers can enjoy time in shallow water watching (and even feeding) these silly pigs. Most of the cruise line private islands also offer pig swims, but the one in Freeport does not involve a boat ride, which may make it more appealing to some. You'll also get time to hang out on Crystal Beach and buy lunch.

Best Bahamas shore excursions from cruise line private islands

atlantis bahamas cruise excursions royal caribbean

Snorkeling from shore or by boat

Varies, moderate, $-$$.

Cruise ship private islands make snorkeling easy. Most of the islands will offer snorkeling gear for rent, and you can snorkel right from the beach. (If you, like me, never miss an opportunity to put your face in the water, consider buying your own snorkel gear for future sailings.) Optional boat excursions to primo snorkeling spots are also possible from some islands.

1-1.5 hours, moderate, $-$$.

Kayaking from the cruise line private islands gives you a new perspective of these fun playgrounds. Tours are led by experienced guides who can point out sea life in shallow water while leading you along the shore of the tropical paradise. Beginners are welcome and life jackets are provided.

Stingray City Bahamas

1.5 hours, easy, $$.

While the Stingray City experience has been popular in Grand Cayman for years, it's relatively new to the Bahamas. Stingray City Bahamas is located among the Berry Islands, home to Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay and Norwegian's Great Stirrup Cay. You'll be taken on a short speedboat ride to a shallow sandy spot in a location where stingrays congregate. Your guide will provide fish to feed the rays, which swoop in and suck the fish from your hand. It's a fun outing if you haven't done it before and it doesn't take away too much of your beach time on the island.

Horseback riding by land and sea

1.25 hours, moderate, $$$.

Carnival offers a horseback riding tour from Half Moon Cay that includes a brief venture into the sea with your horse. The minimum age is 10. As the mother of a horse-loving daughter, I can tell you that riding in the ocean was one of her favorite cruise memories ever. No riding experience is required, but you must be able to follow directions and pay attention to your guide for your own safety as well as that of the horses and other riders. One other thing to know: There will be poo, both on land and in the water.

Bottom line

Bahamas shore excursions typically focus on activity in the water, but if shopping, food tours or sightseeing are more your thing, you'll find those options as well. The Bahamas is made up of a culturally rich collection of islands that have a reputation for welcoming visitors with arms wide open. From simple beach break excursions to full-day tours, you can easily find something that floats your boat in the Bahamas.

Plan A Vacation

Plan A Vacation

atlantis bahamas cruise excursions royal caribbean

If you are planning or have been on a cruise, then you are probably aware that one of the major stops for many Caribbean cruises is Nassau in the Bahamas. We were fortunate enough to go on another cruise that stopped in the Bahamas on our recent trip, and one thing I overheard was that there isn’t a whole lot to do in Nassau for kids. I might have agreed with that sentiment prior to this trip, but one surefire thing to do that kids will enjoy is visiting Atlantis.

You may have heard about Atlantis in the past but you may not entirely be sure what there is to do there. For those who are visiting as part of a day trip on a cruise, the biggest attraction is the Aquaventure Water Park. According to Atlantis’ website, the water park is spread out over 141 acres, much of which is lined with beaches. The park has a number of water slides as well as a “rapids river”, which is a combination of a lazy and not-so-lazy river.

Getting there from the cruise port is pretty straightforward. There are a number of taxis waiting just outside of the gate after you leave the port. We didn’t have any issues whatsoever with either of our taxi trips, and if you use one of the services that combine passengers from multiple cruise ships the price is only $5 per person each way. We liked that there were about 8 – 10 passengers with us each way, as it made us feel just a little bit safer in a foreign country. If you do feel like you want an additional amount of security you might check out Cheryl’s Taxi Service. We saw that they were highly recommended and had excellent reviews from various sites. I felt like the taxis waiting at the gate were absolutely sufficient, and I think there was an extra element of ease with their operation. We didn’t have to meet up or stay in contact with a particular service. The distance to Atlantis is approximately 2 miles from the port if you feel up to a hike. I would definitely NOT recommend this as the day trip is already short and there would be the least amount of safety with this route. Doing research on how to get there before you leave for your cruise is recommended. There is of course the option of going as a port adventure with your cruise, which will make the travel portion a whole lot easier, but it will also cost an additional amount per person and may restrict your time at the destination.

There was a little bit of a line waiting to purchase tickets to get into Atlantis. If you aren’t going as part of a port adventure with your cruise, buying tickets ahead of time would be recommended so you can skip this line. You can purchase tickets directly on their website so that there are no additional fees tacked onto the tickets by third parties. The website was a little confusing as to where to book the Aquaventure Day experience. It is currently located under Experience > Aquaventure and then scroll down to Aquaventure Day Pass Booking.

Once we got inside the resort there was a little bit of a walk to get to Aquaventure. There were people that helped guide us to the water park. There were also lockers available at Aquaventure for us to keep our belongings in, and we didn’t have any issue purchasing or securing these.

The water park itself is large so finding our way around was a slight learning curve. We finally locked down a beach chair that was between the Mayan Pyramid slides, the near-Pandora looking slides and the Rapids River. This made it easier for everyone to find each other at a somewhat central location.

I think the favorite activity among our family was definitely the Rapids River. It had a mix of calm, slow moving water and spots where you would go down rapids. The rapids weren’t too much for anyone in our group, and I would think that ages 8 and up would be great at a minimum. We also enjoyed the water slides but didn’t make it to the most challenging ones. There was also an awesome water slide among the Mayan slides that ended by going past a bunch of sea life through a clear tube.

A multitude of lunch options were available at the park itself, including grilled burgers, jerk chicken and adult beverages too. There were also restaurants inside the resort such as a pizzeria and mediterranean cuisine. If you are jonesing for Starbucks you can get that here as well.

Lastly, we did walk through a casino as we made our way in and out of the resort. We did not stay to play any of the games, but it was a large casino with slot machines, cards, roulette and the works. This part is definitely not for kids but if any adults are looking for a little gambling time on your cruise, this certainly fits the bill.

All in all it was a great day. We got to see parts of Nassau on the way to and from the resort and cruise port, and our family had a really enjoyable day. It is absolutely a worthwhile visit and one that can either be done as a port adventure through the cruise activities or on your own.

3 Thoughts on “Tips for Visiting Atlantis in Nassau (from a Cruise)”

This was helpful, can we walk?

I wouldn’t recommend walking from the boat to Atlantis as it would take up a good part of your day. It is possible to do however.

Also thank you for the compliment 🙂

When planning your budget, it’s important to consider any additional expenses that may arise during the excursion, such as meals, snacks, or souvenirs for children. It’s recommended to set aside a budget for these extras to ensure a seamless and enjoyable day at Atlantis for the entire family.

Remember to check with Royal Caribbean or your travel agent for the most up-to-date pricing and availability for children on the Atlantis Shore Excursion. They will be able to provide you with the specific details and options for your chosen cruise, allowing you to plan your budget accordingly.

Additional Expenses to Consider

While the cost of the Atlantis Shore Excursion covers the base package and provides access to various amenities, there are additional expenses to consider when planning your day at Atlantis. It’s important to factor in these extra costs to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience without any unexpected financial surprises.

Here are some of the additional expenses you may encounter during your Atlantis Shore Excursion:

  • Meals and Snacks: Within the resort, there are a variety of dining options ranging from casual eateries to upscale restaurants. Depending on your preferences and whether meals are included in your package, you may need to budget for meals and snacks during your time at Atlantis.
  • Souvenirs and Shopping: Atlantis boasts a vibrant shopping scene, offering everything from clothing and accessories to local crafts and souvenirs. If you’re interested in purchasing keepsakes or gifts, it’s worth budgeting for shopping expenses.
  • Additional Activities: While the base package of the excursion provides access to certain attractions, there may be additional activities or experiences that come at an extra cost. These can include spa treatments, water sports, or even interactions with marine life. Consider whether you’re interested in any of these optional activities and allocate a budget accordingly.
  • Photography and Memorabilia: Capturing memories of your day at Atlantis is a wonderful way to remember your experience. However, professional photography services or purchasing commemorative items such as photos, photo books, or keychains can carry an additional cost.
  • Transportation: If you’re staying at a hotel or renting a car, you may need to factor in the cost of transportation to and from the port or the resort. Some packages include transportation, but if it’s not included, consider the cost of taxis, shuttles, or other transportation options.

It’s essential to plan and budget for these additional expenses to ensure you can fully enjoy your day at Atlantis without any financial surprises. By accounting for these costs, you can make the most of your time at the resort and indulge in all the experiences that interest you.

Remember, the specific expenses may vary depending on your preferences, the package you choose, and any current promotions. Checking with Royal Caribbean or your travel agent for the most up-to-date information will help you plan your budget effectively and enjoy a stress-free excursion at Atlantis.

Tips for Saving Money on the Atlantis Shore Excursion

While the Atlantis Shore Excursion is undoubtedly an incredible experience, it’s always great to find ways to save some money without compromising on the enjoyment of your day at the resort. Here are some tips to help you save money on the Atlantis Shore Excursion:

  • Book in Advance: By booking your Atlantis Shore Excursion well in advance, you may be able to take advantage of early booking discounts or promotional offers. Keep an eye out for specials or packages that can help you save on the overall cost of the excursion.
  • Look for Package Deals: Check if there are any package deals that include the Atlantis Shore Excursion as part of your overall cruise package. Sometimes, combining multiple excursions or activities can result in cost savings compared to booking them separately.
  • Consider Non-Peak Time: Traveling during non-peak times or shoulder seasons can often lead to lower prices. If your schedule allows, consider visiting Atlantis during less busy times to potentially take advantage of reduced rates.
  • Opt for a Partial Day Pass: If you’re primarily interested in experiencing a specific attraction or part of the resort, consider choosing a partial day pass rather than a full-day pass. This can be a more budget-friendly option if you don’t require access to all areas of Atlantis.
  • Pack Your Own Snacks and Drinks: Bringing your own snacks and drinks can help save money on dining expenses at the resort. Pack some light snacks and a reusable water bottle to keep yourself fueled throughout the day.
  • Research Local Dining Options: While dining at Atlantis can be a fantastic experience, it can also be pricey. Consider venturing outside the resort to explore local dining options that may offer more affordable meals without compromising on taste or quality.
  • Take Advantage of Free Activities: Atlantis offers various free activities and attractions that you can enjoy without spending any extra money. Take advantage of these opportunities, such as exploring the marine habitats or lounging on the public beaches.
  • Share Expenses with a Group: If you’re traveling with a group or other families, consider sharing the expenses for certain items such as transportation or meals. This can help reduce the overall cost per person and make the excursion more affordable for everyone.
  • Check for Discounts: Keep an eye out for any special discounts or promotions that may be available for the Atlantis Shore Excursion. This could include deals for loyalty program members, credit card holders, or certain demographic groups.

By implementing these money-saving tips, you can maximize your enjoyment of the Atlantis Shore Excursion without breaking the bank. With a little planning and research, you can ensure a memorable experience at Atlantis while staying within your budget.

The Royal Caribbean Shore Excursion to Atlantis is a fantastic opportunity to explore and experience the wonders of this iconic resort in the Bahamas. With its stunning beaches, thrilling water slides, mesmerizing marine habitats, and world-class amenities, Atlantis offers something for everyone.

While the cost of the excursion may vary depending on the package and additional expenses, the convenience and exclusive benefits offered make it a worthwhile investment. Planning and budgeting for the Atlantis Shore Excursion is essential to make the most of your experience. Booking in advance, considering package deals, and looking for ways to save on dining and additional activities can help you stay within your budget without compromising on enjoyment.

Also, what is the best way to get to the Atlantis from the dock that Royal Caribbean ports.

' class=

Go to this website, very reputable:

http://www.bahamasdaypass.com/

Three ways to get there.

1. Water Taxi, $4pp each way. Starts 9:30 ends 6PM.

3. van/taxi multiple groups, $5 pp.

See details below

http://www.bahamas-treasures.com/bahamas/Nassau_Taxi_Fares.html

Thanks Tigervette. Do you think it is better to order from that website or go directly to the Atlantis site? I believe the prices were pretty much the same.

atlantis bahamas cruise excursions royal caribbean

It is very pricey. It is a good time though especially for the kids, the slides are a lot of fun, pools are nice and fish tanks are great. Food is not cheap so keep that in mind too.

It all depends on the price you pay. You could look at booking a room at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island. They offer passes to Atlantis. Confirm when before you book. That would likely be cheaper.

If you choose to book a room at Comfort Suites which entitles you to full access at Atlantis, with 2 adults and 3 kids over 4 you would have to book TWO rooms as the local law only allow FOUR to a room over 4 years old.

Continue walking straight ahead until you reach the crosswalk. Don’t cross the street but instead turn right. Follow the sidewalk along the waterfront. You’ll see a bank across the street on your left and if you keep walking, eventually you’ll be across from the Straw Market.

The ferry boat sign to Paradise Island.

Within about 100 steps, you’ll see a blue and white stand on the sidewalk with someone selling tickets for the ferry,  Be sure to bring cash with you from the ship, including several $1 bills. They don’t take credit cards.

How Much is the Ferry from Nassau to Paradise Island

The ferry charges $4 for one-way and $8 round-trip. Put your round-trip return ticket somewhere where it won’t get blow away.

Aboard the ferry boat from Nassau to Paradise Island and Atlantis Resort.

Once you have your ticket, you’ll be shown to the ferry to board. If you like sun, go up the narrow ladder to the top deck. The views are beautiful from up there.

Keep in mind there’s no covering so if you don’t have sunscreen, this might not be the best place to sit for the 15-minute ride to Paradise Island. Also, hold on to your hat; it gets pretty breezy up top, too.

What to Bring to Paradise Island

  • Cash in small bills for tips
  • Bottles of water
  • Comfortable shoes or sandals
  • Your ship’s ID card AND your driver’s license or government photo ID

During your short ferry boat ride from the Nassau Cruise Port to Paradise Island, a local Bahamian will provide a guided narration and point out homes of notable celebrities and quirky points of interest. It’s customary to tip the guide, usually $1-$2 per person. He’s not an official employee and this is how he earns a living.

Directions From the Nassau Ferry Dock to Atlantis Resort

Once your ferry is docked, it’s a 10-minute walk to the entrance of the Marina Village and Atlantis. Here’s what to do:

From the ferry, follow the crowd. We docked to the left of Margaritaville and then walked under the toll bridge that connects Nassau with Paradise Island.

Walking to Atlantis Resort from the ferry boat dock on Paradise Island.

Just follow the sidewalk (and the crowd) until you reach the traffic light. Cross straight ahead, turn right and cross again. The entrance to Marina Village will be on your left, about 200-ft ahead.

Walking along the path following the signs to Atlantis Resort.

Turn left into in Marina Village and keep walking straight ahead. The path winds a bit to your left.

Keep walking and pretty soon you’re at Atlantis. On your right is Murray’s Deli and straight ahead is a wide stairway leading into a side entrance to the hotel.

How to Get Inside Atlantis Resort

You’re allowed into Atlantis but you can’t do much except pay a visit to the Casino, the designer shops and the restaurants. If you’re not doing any of those things, plan on maybe 20-30 minutes inside, just to take a look around.

Outside, it’s easy to spend another half-hour ogling the spectacular yachts in the marina. But don’t lose track of time. If you’re running late, you can always catch a taxi from Atlantis Hotel back to the port.

It’ll run about $8-$10 for the ride but traffic at rush hour in downtown Nassau can come to a stand-still.

Going Back to Nassau by Ferry

Simply retrace your steps from Atlantis to the ferry boat. You might want to leave an hour or so for a snack and a drink at Margaritaville. The location is perfect – just a 5-minute walk to the ferry boarding area – and plenty of shade to relax and wind down your day.

Margaritaville at Paradise Island, near the ferry boat dock.

Depending on how many ships are in port, there will probably be a long line of people at the ferry boat for the return trip to Nassau. Remember…the ferry only runs every half-hour and the last ferry is at 6:00 p.m. Watch your time.

Back at Festival Place in Nassau, you will need to show the security guard your ship’s ID card and a government-issued photo ID.

That’s all there is to know to go from Nassau to Paradise Island and Atlantis Resort by ferry boat. Have a fun day at Paradise Island and Atlantis Hotel!

Cruise travelers who waited months for their vacations were excited for the return of ships to Baltimore over Memorial Day weekend.

The embarkations are the first cruise ships to depart Baltimore since the March 26 collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge , which closed the main channel.

"This is just a wonderful day for us. It's been a wonderful weekend and we just can't thank everybody for making this happen to get us cruises back in Baltimore," said Cynthia Burman, the deputy director for business development and cruises for the Port of Baltimore.

"We are so happy, and it's probably one of the most visible signs that everybody can see. Cruise is back. Baltimore is back. Royal and Carnival, they're looking forward to being able to engage their itineraries out of Baltimore -- not only this weekend, but well into the future," Jonathan Daniels, the executive director of the Maryland Port Administration, told 11 News on Saturday.

The Key Bridge collapse forced the cruise lines to temporarily move ships to Norfolk, Virginia. The Carnival Legend was supposed to return to Baltimore in April but was rerouted to Norfolk, where Carnival provided buses back to Baltimore.

On Saturday, Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas returned to and departed from Baltimore for a five-day cruise to the Bahamas.

"It's excitement, you know, it's a great day for Baltimore, a great day for the community here, a great day for Royal Caribbean, as well, and we're looking forward to continue cruising out of Baltimore," Mise Tevsic, the captain of the Vision of the Seas, told 11 News on Saturday.

Cruisers were excited to get on board for trips they've planned for months.

"It's a relief. I mean, we spent weeks wondering and feeling a little bit guilty because we're wondering how it will work for us, knowing everything there were doing (to clear the Dali container ship ), so it was a relief that, OK, the port is back, all these people are back at work," John Carney, a Royal Caribbean cruiser, told 11 News on Saturday.

The Carnival Pride returned Sunday to Baltimore after setting sail from Norfolk. The Pride then left Baltimore for a 14-day cruise to Greenland.

"We're very thankful to the city and the port of Baltimore, as well as the first responders that helped with all the operation, and we're very happy to be back here on a beautiful sunny day," said Moises Clarena, Carnival's regional manager. "We weren't sure how long it was going to take originally, but with all everybody involved, they were able to make it happen quickly."

Carnival said the Pride will then continue its previously planned sailings, currently scheduled into the spring of 2026.

"Every vessel that calls this port, you're looking at a million dollars of economic impact. Last year, we handled 109 vessels -- $109 million worth of economic impact, so it's a very significant impact to the port and community, it's a significant part of the hospitality and tourism spectrum that makes Baltimore so special," Daniels said.

Breaking news, why royal caribbean does not have to share details of passenger who died on world’s largest cruise ship.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

The public may never know the full details surrounding the death of a passenger who reportedly jumped from the world’s largest cruise ship earlier this month.

Under maritime law, Royal Caribbean is not obligated to release the findings of its investigation into the death of the passenger on the Icon of the Seas.

The law allows the company, and other cruise lines — to downplay details that might cast them in a negative light, said Florida-based lawyer Keith Brais, whose firm specializes in injuries and incidents at sea.

A man died on Sunday during a voyage on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas.

“They wouldn’t even need to report on how much alcohol might have been involved if it makes them look bad,” he told The Post.

Royal Caribbean has not commented on the specific details of the incident and has only expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased.

The US Coast Guard in Miami said it assisted with the search, but it is not involved in the investigation into the passenger’s death.

Deaths on cruise ships are rare — but unique circumstances of a floating city in international waters — the Icon of the Seas can carry up to 7,000 people — means that they are not handled like deaths on land.

What happens to someone who dies on a cruise ship?

When an unidentified man jumped from Royal Caribbean’s new 1,200-foot-long Icon of the Seas on the first day of a seven-day voyage on Sunday, a rescue boat from the ship found him and brought him back aboard.

Passengers were initially told that the man was in the intensive care unit, but the Coast Guard confirmed to The Post that he died.

The man's body was retrieved by the cruise line with help from the US Coast Guard.

The Icon of the Seas proceeded on its voyage around the Gulf of Mexico after the incident.

It’s not clear where the man’s body is now, but it was likely taken to the ship’s morgue until it can be transferred to authorities on land, Brais said.

The ship has stopped in Honduras and Mexico, and is set for one more port of call in the Bahamas before it returns to Miami on Saturday.

Who investigates deaths at sea?

While the US Coast Guard assisted Royal Caribbean in the search and rescue of the man who fell overboard, officials said it was the cruise line’s rescue boat that ultimately found and transported the body, and it would be up to the company to investigate the case.

Brais said Royal Caribbean is not required to release its findings to the public, adding that it is rare for a company to publish anything that could make them seem liable for the death.

“As a result, the cruise line is likely to find that the passenger’s death resulted from ‘natural causes,’ even if the totality of the circumstances at hand suggests otherwise,” according to his law firm.

Braise noted that in his decades of experience in the industry and law, alcohol is involved in the majority of cases.

Royal Caribbean did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Royal Caribbean is investigating the cause of death.

Does the family have any recourse about the investigation?

The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety act, which was passed in 2010, mandates that cruises not only follow strict regulations to ensure passengers are safe, but to also track crimes aboard their ships.

In regards to Sunday’s incident, Brais said the man’s family should look at whether Royal had the proper barriers in place to keep people from falling overboard and if they had Man-Overboard cameras installed that alerted them to the incident.

Even if Royal Caribbean was found to be negligent in the man’s death, the compensation could be limited to just covering funeral expenses under the Death of the High Seas Act, Brais added.

Boats were deployed to search for the man's body on Sunday.

How common are deaths on cruise ships?

It can be difficult to determine how many deaths have occurred on cruise ships as it’s up to the companies to report such incidents.

According to the Department of Transportation’s Cruise Line Incident reports, there have only been four deaths aboard major cruise lines between January 2020 to March 2024.

Despite these numbers, Brais said it’s not rare for such man overboard stories to make headlines once every three weeks.

According to cruise expert Dr. Ross Klein, who maintains a master list of media reports of incidents where passengers have gone overboard, there have been at least 410 people who have fallen off cruises or ferries in the last 24 years.

Icon of the Seas death is the second so far this year aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise. In April, a drunk 20-year-old passenger reportedly jumped to his death from the Liberty of the Seas following a dispute with his father.
