Anthony Hamilton Announces Spring and Summer 2023 Tour Dates

Anthony Hamilton is scheduled to hit the road for a string of dates, beginning May 12 at Rochester Auditorium Theatre in Rochester, New York.

Along the way, Hamilton will perform at the Soul Beach Music Festival in Aruba, as well as in various U.S. cities such as Detroit, Atlanta, and San Jose, California.

Hamilton plans to bring The Ton3s , formerly The HamilTones , for the upcoming stops. He will also play dates featuring J. Holiday , Marsha Ambrosius, Stephanie Mills , Calvin Richardson, Leela James and J. Howell on the bill.

With all these shows on the books, Hamilton’s setlist is bound to include songs from his stacked catalog. He will also tie in material from his 2021 album, Love Is The New Black .

Love Is The New Black was Hamilton’s first album since 2016’s What I’m Feelin’ . It included features from Jennifer Hudson , Lil Jon, Rick Ross and the hit single “ You Made A Fool Of Me ,” which reached No. 3 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in October 2021.

In a 2021 interview with Rated R&B , Hamilton shared what he hoped his audience would take away from Love Is The New Black .

“We are all worthy of love, and Black love is still beautiful and powerful, no matter what they try to paint around us. We’re still worthy of self-love. This music that we call R&B, soul music or Black music, it’s ours. We’re so unappreciated by most of the world, but to us, we’re legacy within ourselves. Keep shining, melanating and creating,” Hamilton stated .

Love Is The New Black was among Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 .

The following year, Hamilton supported the album on Maxwell’s The Night Tour , featuring additional support from R&B gent Joe.

Ahead of joining Maxwell on tour, Hamilton won Outstanding Male Artist at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards . He was also nominated for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Traditional) for “ Complicated (Remix) ,” on which he joined Leela James for her See Me single.

Up next for Hamilton is tributing this year’s Black Music Honors recipients. He is part of the star-studded performance lineup, including Tamar Braxton , Dave Hollister, Kenny Lattimore , Lil’ Mo, Tweet , The Shindellas and more. Hamilton is taking the stage with The Ton3s.

The eighth annual Black Music Honors will be taped on May 19 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

The celebration salutes SWV (Urban Music Icon), Evelyn “Champagne” King (R&B Music Icon), Jeffrey Osborne (Legends Award), Missy Elliott (Music Innovator Icon) and The Hawkins Family (Gospel Music Icon).

The ceremony will air Saturday, June 3, with national broadcast syndication from June 10 – July 2. It will also air on Bounce TV on June 19.

During an interview, Hamilton explains the concept of his latest effort, “We are all worthy of love, and Black love is still beautiful and powerful, no matter what they try to paint around us. In 2016, Hamilton dropped his sixth studio effort, What I’m Feeling. The album peaked at numb 15 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In 2011, Hamilton released his Grammy-nominated studio effort, Back to Love, which was produced in collaboration with Kenneth Edmonds, a.k. Baby Face and Dre & Vial. The album featured several notable singles, including “Woo,” “I’ll Wait (To Fall In Love),” and “Pray for Me.”

During the early 2000s, Hamilton released several R&B hits, such as “Charlene” and “Can’t Let Go.” Both singles entered the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B Songs charts. In addition to studio releases, he also dropped several soundtrack singles, including “Struggle No More (The Main Event)” from Daddy’s Little Girls,” “Do You Feel Me” from American Gangster, and “Freedom” from Django Unchained.

Hamilton’s three-decade career has resulted in numerous accolades, including a BET J Cool Like Dat Award, three NAACP Image Award nominations, and four Soul Train nominations. In 2009, he won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for participating in Al Green’s “You’ve Got The Love I Need.”

Anthony Hamilton Announces Nationwide Spring & Summer Tour

Multiplatinum singer, songwriter and producer, Anthony Hamilton will make 14 city stops for his upcoming tour. The first stop takes place at the Rochester Auditorium Theater in NY on Friday, May 12.

According to Rated R&B , the tour will receive support for the The Ton3s, formerly The HamilTones, for the upcoming stops. Hamilton will also feature artists such as J. Holiday, Marsha Ambrosius, Stephanie Mills, Calvin Richardson, Leela James and J. Howell at select stops.

With a 30-year career span and timeless records, Hamilton is guaranteed to draw in an enthusiastic audience. “Charlene,” “Can’t Let Go,” “The Point Of It All,” and “Best of Me” are only a few top-charting hits from his stacked catalog. The tour will also support his most recent album, Love Is The New Black , released in 2021.

Outside of the tour, Hamilton will be performing at the 8th Annual Black Music Honors taking place on May 19. The star-studded two-hour event will honor artists and musicians who have influenced and made significant contributions to music.

Anthony Hamilton was   born in Charlotte, North Carolina and is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame with his platinum-selling second studio album Comin’ from Where I’m From (2003), which featured the title track single and was followed up by "Charlene". Nominated for 17 Grammy Awards, he is also known for the song "Freedom" from the soundtrack album of Django Unchained co-written and sung as a duo with indie soul singer Elayna Boynton.

The Grammy-Award-winning singer has collaborated with a bevy of artists including Nas, Rick Ross, Carlos Santana, Jill Scott, Tupac, and Al Green to name a few. With a talent that is recognized by some of the most profound figures of our time, Hamilton has performed at the  Smithsonian Salutes Ray Charles :  In Performance at the White House.

In addition to his multiple chart-topping albums and singles, Hamilton earned a BET Award and has been praised by a plethora of outlets including  The New York Times, USA Today, Rolling Stone ,  Entertainment Weekly, ESSENCE, and Billboard  and more. Standing at Concerts

Standing and Dancing at Concerts: DPAC is proud to welcome all types of concerts to our stage. Sometimes during the course of a concert performance, audience members will show their enthusiasm by standing and dancing, especially when encouraged by the performers to do so. Unless directed by the show, we do not ever enforce a must sit policy at concerts. For most concerts, this would not be acceptable to the performers on stage who often love it when the crowd is moved enough by the performance to stand. This is especially true for rock shows and for seats closest to the stage.

Please know that DPAC does not have a “no standing” policy and in most situations will allow guests to stand even if they block the view of the stage for other guests. If your view is ever blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please contact an usher and we’ll attempt to find alternative seating.

Video Screens

Currently, this event has approved using our video screens.

For many concert, comedy, and special events at DPAC, we offer added views of the stage with two big screens (size: 16’ x 9’) hung to the sides of the stage or above the stage. These big screens can add to the visual experience of our concert, comedy, and special events and give guests seated farther from the stage what we like to call “a tenth row view”. Approval to use these screens always rests with the visiting show and about half of all concert and comedy events do use these screens.

The newly arranged concert suites include music from GLADIATOR, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, THE DARK KNIGHT, INTERSTELLAR, THE LION KING, THE LAST SAMURAI and DUNE, for which Zimmer received his second Academy Award® during his previous tour stop in Amsterdam.

I cannot say enough about how great this concert was. If you are in for a treat, this is a must see. Anthony Hamilton was wonderful. But Mrs.Fantasia set it off. That girl can sing anything and has the best energy on stage. She really interacted with her audience even so much so that she came into the audience. It was all the way turned up. I may go see them again in Texas....that's how much I enjoyed their show.

THIS WAS A GREAT GREAT CONCERT, VERY ENTERTAINING. GREAT SINGING AND INTERACTION WITH THE AUDIENCE BY THE PERFORMERS.
