Further details

Tom Cruise joins Graham in the studio - for the first time outside his film bubble - to chat about his new film Top Gun: Maverick .

Asked why after 35 years he is reprising the role of Maverick, he says, "For years the studios and audiences wanted me to do it and then Jerry Bruckheimer wanted to do it, so we talked and came up with some good ideas. It was just that moment when I thought, 'if I'm going to do this, now's the time.'"

Talking about not using a green screen and doing all his own stunts, he says, "I am a very physical actor and I love doing them. I study and train and take a lot of time figuring it all out. I have broken a lot of bones! The first time of any stunt is nerve wracking but it also exhilarating. I have been told a few times during shooting a stunt to stop smiling!"

Asked what he has been doing during lockdown, he says, "Being here is the first time I have been out of the film bubble - this is just incredible.

"From the moment we were in lockdown I have been working seven days a week almost around the clock because we were finishing Top Gun and prepping Mission Impossible . They shut down Mission and said we wouldn't film for another year, so I had to figure it out. We worked with governments, doctors and our crew to keep everyone working - I haven't had that banana bread moment yet!"

Tom's Top Gun co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller join Graham for a chat from New York and LA respectively.

Jennifer, talking about working with Tom, and asked if it was a dream or if there was added pressure, says, "Both actually. It was extraordinary and such a privilege. I had such a great time and did things I have never done before. But I wanted to get everything right - I didn't want to be that person that dropped the ball.

"I was actually afraid to tell Tom at the time that I had only just recently talked myself out of a crippling fear of flying. When I signed on for the movie there was no flying for my character. I then found myself taxiing on a runway in a tiny plane with Tom and he said, 'Have you been a plane like this before? Have you ever done any aerobatic flying before? I started to get very nervous when he said, 'It will be very graceful and very elegant,' and that's how I found out I would be up in the P51 with Tom flying it!"

Miles, who wasn't born when the first Top Gun film came out, jokes, "I told Tom he had been waiting my entire life to work with me!"

Talking about his character - Goose's son - he says, "The storyline taking place 35 years after last film is really wonderful because my character is a man now and there is a lot of history with Maverick. The film is phenomenal."

Asked if he knew there would be no green screen and that he would be doing his own stunts, Miles teases Tom and says, "I think that was in the fine print somewhere." Adding, "I did know, but underestimated the training that was needed to withstand the g-force. It is no joke to get in those jets. It was intense. You don't need green screen when you've got Tom - it was a real pleasure working with him."

Felicity Jones , talking about her character in the new romantic drama The Last Letter From Your Lover , says, "I played her as though she has a permanent hangover, she's drinking too much, and she's lost a bit of hope and perspective. It's a bit like living through COVID times."

Asked about being a producer on the film, she says, "You get to a point when It's so nice to be involved as early on as possible and have a little more input. Traditionally, as an actor you come in at the last minute and it's much nicer to have bit more of a say in what you are making."

Talking about what she did during lockdown, she says, "I made banana bread three times and burnt it each time." Adding, "I had a baby in the first one. It seems ages ago now in the really scary lockdown when we were all advised to wash our groceries and we didn't know what was going to happen. It was pretty intense, but having kids is intense anyway. The pandemic just added a little extra."

Wunmi Mosaku joins Graham from LA to chat about her BAFTA-nominated role in horror thriller His House .

Asked if she likes horror TV and movies, she says, "I don't like being scared just for the sake of it. I don't get it and it's not my cup of tea. I don't know why I find myself in them. I much prefer love stories and musicals. I did forget it was a horror because there is so much heart and humanity in it."

Talking about the BAFTA awards ceremony, she says, "I won't be going, it will be by Zoom, which I don't mind. I'm not a fan of high heels so it's great that I can just be glammed up from the waist up in my slippers. I love it!"

Asked about her upcoming role in Marvel's Loki , she says, "I show up at the beginning of the series, and I don't think I can tell you who I play. Actually, I don't think I can tell you anything! You know what it is like with Marvel. I am terrified!"

John Bishop , talking about his upcoming tour Right Here, Right Now , he says, "It's the tour I was doing it before lockdown. We've moved everything to September to allow time for people to be allowed back in. What was meant to happen was me going to the States, Scandinavia, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Now, I think I might get to Scotland!"

Asked about his role in Doctor Who , he says, "That was my lockdown experience. I am the new companion to the Doctor. I'm allowed to say that, but that's about it!"

Years & Years performs Starstruck live in the studio, before Oli Alexander joins Graham for a chat. Confirming that Years & Years is now just him, Oli says, "Nothing bad happened. We just decided to go our separate ways. It surprised some people, but for us it was a long time coming."

Talking about the phenomenal success of It's A Sin , he says, "It's amazing and I am so blown away. I had no idea how the audience was going to respond to such a sensitive topic. I loved doing it so much and I am so overwhelmed by the reaction and the conversations it has started."

Asked if will be doing more acting, he says, "It's music for the time being and there will be an album sometime this year. I've written a lot of songs."

The episode was originally scheduled to air at 10:45pm on Friday 9th April, but was postponed due to the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.

Graham Norton Admitted He's No Longer The Best Talk Show Host

  • Norton is known for his unique hosting style, often having multiple guests interacting on his show at once, making it entertaining for both guests and the audience.
  • Despite some hosting hiccups, Norton's ability to get celebrities to share secrets has solidified his reputation as one of the best late-night hosts.
  • Norton has started being more selective with his guests but also stopped doing the nice things he used to as a host.

Graham Norton has been hosting his wildly popular Graham Norton Show since 2007. Despite Norton's questionable hosting habits , his talk show remains the number one show on the BBC at 10:40 PM on Friday nights. It is this popularity that has allowed Norton to build an insane net worth as well as interview dozens of celebrities.

Some interviews have not gone well, like the disastrous interview Norton had with Daniel Craig . Most, however, have gone off without a hitch. This has led to celebrities returning to the show more than once, a lot of which has to do with show's unique formatting. Unlike other talk shows, Norton had multiple guests on at one time who not only interacted with one another but with Norton as well. The Graham Norton Show is entertaining for both guests and the audience alike.

Norton's changed habits have not affected the audience, nor does it appear to have affected the celebrity guests either, as they continue to come to the show whenever possible. But, this article will reveal why Graham Norton's bad hosting habit changed everything about the show . Following that we will reveal just why Norton is so popular and how this popularity has led Norton to whittle down who his guests are in the later years of the talk show.

Graham Norton Admitted He Has To "Change His Ways" With Guests

When Norton came to Late Night with Seth Meyers he praised Seth Meyers for making each guest feel special . What was funny, however, was that years ago, Norton used to do things that were personalized for his guests as well.

But, as the years went on, that fell to the wayside. After receiving the special treatment, Norton decided it may be in his best interest to resume his old practices in the future.

"I have to say, already now, I have to go back to London and I may have to change my ways, Norton explained. "A handwritten note from Seth Meyers."

Meyers admitted that he learned to write handwritten notes from Jimmy Fallon . Because of this, Meyers leaves handwritten notes for all of his guests to this day.

Norton admitted that he used to do the hand-written notes but eventually stopped.

"So this isn't a thing you didn't know about," Meyers said. "You just stopped."

Norton then went on to say that he does not even stop by to greet the guests when they are in their dressing rooms, preferring to see them when they come to the set. He even joked that he would not talk to the celebrity guests if he passed them in the hallway. However, this proved to be untrue.

Graham Norton Completely Embarrassed His Guest Revealing His Crush On Mila Kunis In Front Of Her

"What's the other thing I don't do? Oh. Talk to them afterward," Norton joked. "No, no. If I bump into them in a corridor, I'll say hello."

Given that Norton has become more particular about the guests on his show, and has built up a rapport with them, it would not be surprising if he did more personalized things for guests in the future.

Graham Norton Has A Reputation Of Being One Of The Best Late-Night Hosts

Norton has a reputation for being one of the best late-night hosts in the industry. His ability to get celebrity guests to spill secrets that they would not normally talk about is part of what makes Norton's talk show so entertaining.

Be it because celebrities want to outdo one another, or because they have shared experiences, fans get to see a side of their favorite actor or singer they normally would not. This keeps viewers coming back for more and singing Norton's praises , nearly 500 episodes and 34 seasons later.

"Graham by far is the best for me the sense of humor and how he is spontaneous and not stressful or like cringe in the way he is dealing with his guests!" one fan said.

Another fan admitted that Norton was the one that was watched the most often due to how "fun and interesting" the talk show was.

Norton was even called the "king of interviewers" by other fans both in the UK and in the US, who feel like there is no equal to Norton or the show that he hosts on BBC.

Cher Left Graham Norton And Tom Hanks Shocked After Making A Weird Revelation About Her Music

Despite the fact that fans adore the way Norton runs his talk show, Norton has admitted that there are only certain guests who get to come back more than once, on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Graham Norton Has Started To Whittle Down His Guest List

Since Norton has been doing his talk show for nearly two decades , he has had more guests on the show than he can probably remember. During the early days, there were those Norton really wanted to get on the show.

After that happened, Norton got a feel for those who were not only good guests but guests that he wanted to have back on for future appearances. The celebrities who come on The Graham Norton Show these days are more or less, hand-picked by Norton and his team.

Meyers knew exactly what Norton was talking about and the two discussed what it was like with some talk show experience under their belts.

"When you started this show, there were probably guests you really wanted to get," Norton said on Late Night with Seth Meyers . "Now, not so much."

Meyers agreed with Norton, who began to admit that only certain people are invited to come back season after season.

"You start repeating people and other people sort of get dropped off the ledger," Meyers stated.

Fans Were Loving The Chemistry Between Sofia Vergara And Kevin Hart On The Graham Norton Show

Over the years, there have been many guests on Norton's show who have been on nearly every season . It is clear who Norton's favorites are and which celebrities were the absolute worst guests Norton has ever had.

Some of the celebrities who have appeared on The Graham Norton Show frequently include:

There are many more celebrities that have been on the show five and six times . It's clear which celebrities that Norton enjoys on the panel and is happy to have back when they have a project to promote. This is because not only are the celebrities good with interacting with one another, but they open up on the talk show as well, which makes for good TV and good ratings.
