Starline Tours does not respond to…
Starline Tours does not respond to Better Business Bureau Inquiry or email inquiry. The Better Business Bureaus of Florida and Los Angeles, my travel agent, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), TD Visa, and Universal Studios all agree I should be refunded the cost of 2 tickets to Universal Studios by either Bedsonline or Starline Tours. Starline Tours has not responded to my email inquiry, or an inquiry from the Better Business Bureau. Bedsonline uses a Third Party, Starline Tours, to supply tickets to Universal Studios. Starline Tours Kiosk was not available May 5, 2023 due to a street closure for an event. A voucher from Bedsonline was to be redeemed for 2 Tickets to Universal Studios there. Starline Tours bus driver honoured the Hop On Hop Off tickets, but wasn’t able to exchange my voucher for Universal Studios tickets, or direct me to their Kiosk. Next day at Universal Studios, tickets were not valid. I paid another $248 USD to enter the park. My travel agent contacted Bedsonline, and eventually got this response: "Greetings from Bedsonline. We have contacted our supplier with this claim, but unfortunately, they are denying a refund for the mentioned services. Indeed, the guest was able to redeem the voucher (bus tickets) on May 4 at 3:51 PM with a Red Route Driver, but regarding the tickets, (Universal Studio) those were redeemable on Starline module located in front of the Dolby Theater (not inside the theater), which was open during the service date. We apologize for the inconvenience, but the reservation will not be able to be refunded this time. Please feel free to contact us with any other inquiry." I feel Bedsonline is responsible for my refund from Starline Tours. It’s up to them to resolve any problems with their suppliers. Bedsonline did not respond to a Better Business Bureau Inquiry. Starline Tours does not respond to a Better Business Bureau Inquiry either. Both BBB in Florida and Los Angeles have not been able to contact these businesses, and have since closed each case. I have also contacted the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), and their reply is: Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) can offer consumer assistance only if the consumer has booked through an Ontario registered travel company / tour operator. In this instance, your booking was made through xxxx xxxx but the complaint is against the end supplier. As such, your complaint, however valid, is outside of TICO’s jurisdiction as we do not regulate end-suppliers. (i.e., airlines, hotels, cruise lines or out of province tour operators). Universal Studios has also attempted to assist me, but they did not sell the tickets. TD Visa is now involved with an investigation. UPDATED NOTE : TD VISA has since reimbursed the entire amount I have claimed. Date of experience: May 4 / 5, 2023
Date of experience : May 03, 2023

About the Business
Welcome to Starline Tours of Hollywood, L.A.'s premiere choice in sightseeing and #1 in celebrity tours. Located in the heart of Hollywood, Starline Tours is the largest tour company in Los Angeles, offering a full range of tours. We have been featured on hit shows like Ellen, American Idol, the Muppet Movies, Iron Man 3, NBC's Today Show and showcased on the Travel Channel. We've also been written about in the LA Times, USA Today and other reputable newspapers and travel magazines from around the world. Starline originated as the Movie Stars Homes Tour when Mr. Sid Grauman, creator of the famous Chinese Theatre, gave his chauffeur (Bud Delp) the idea of driving people around Hollywood to see the homes of celebrities, back in 1935. We are still the leader in this tour today. For movie enthusiasts, we have the Warner Brothers VIP Tour and The Movie Locations Tour (presented with Turner Classic Movies), which recently has been added to our tour selection. Starline's City Sightseeing Los Angeles covers over 100 miles of route, with guided narration in nine different languages, making it the largest Hop-on Hop-off service in the world! Also included in our tour portfolio, are our Grand Tour of L.A, City and Beach tours, 1-Hour Fun Tours and Night Tours. We also have tours to take you to Southern California's major attractions like Universal Studios, Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm and Sea World... …

Does this tour have a live guide or is it pre-recorded? I see both being mentioned.
When we went in November of 2018, it was a live guide, a gentleman who was very funny, informative, & entertaining. We wore earbuds so we could hear him easily. He did have a few pre-recorded bits too, like songs that matched up to the places we… more

I hadn't been to LA in 10 years and it had been even longer since I'd done all the cheesy tourist stuff, so when my friend and I were here in November, we decided to do the Starline Tour of Hollywood- and it was an absolute blast! I wish I could remember the name of our driver- he was so much fun. He was funny and engaging and interesting. You know he's given this tour thousands of times but he still had so much enthusiasm for it and his enjoyment was contagious. He showed us many of the famous (and infamous) parts of Hollywood and a few other sections of Los Angeles, including Beverly Hills. We saw lots of stars' homes and he pointed out places where famous movie scenes had been filmed. We were in an open air truck and the weather was just perfectly LA- bright and sunny without a cloud in sight. Driving around in the sunshine seeing all the palm trees was just glorious and such a mood booster. It was a perfect 90 minute excursion, and a must for all tourists.
We had the privilege of getting a free pair of tickets for the TCM Starline Tour. Starline Tours offer a variety of different tours depending on what it is you want to see. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of TCM they were offering free TCM tour which takes you through the classics of Hollywood. What is TCM you might be asking yourself? Well it stands for Turner Classic Movies. We met at the booth in front of the TCL Chinese Theater (formerly Grauman's Chinese Theater). Just walk up, sign-in with the person in the booth, and then wait until your tour guide has you gather together. Our tour guide Jimmy was super cool and 10 minutes before our tour time he led us to our bus. Jimmy led us through the many behind the scenes information that many might not know. Our tour took us to many famous locations including Echo Park (Chinatown), Union Station, 2nd Street Tunnel, Bradbury Building, and a few others. It was great to be able to stand where many famous people have stood as well as see parts of Los Angeles that you would never have known were transformed in the movies. The three hours went by quickly and by the end of the tour my son and I were quite impressed. A couple tips for this tour: sit on the left side near an open window, bring a sweater in case it gets too breezy, bring some cash to grab a snack at Olvera St or inside Union Station. I definitely recommend this tour!
Inside the bus!
After reading the reviews of the Starline Hollywood tours, we were a little hesitant to book but wanted an easy way to see different parts of LA. We were spending time at the Grove and realized it was very easy to catch the red tour bus outside and pay on the bus. After calling Starline, they told us the exact address to wait for the bus. It wasn't marked super clean but her directions got us there and after only waiting about 2 minutes, the bus was there to start the tour. The tour goes throughout different parts of LA including Beverly Hills, Hollywood and with the other buses, really anywhere you want. The passes come in 24hour increments so I would recommend using the whole day to see the sites. We had wanted to use the yellow bus to visit Santa Monica but realized we did not have time to get back to the Grove. In general, we enjoyed the information and seeing different parts of LA. It was a beautiful day so the top deck was great to sit and see! The bus drivers were nice and we really didn't wait for more than a few minutes per bus. Would recommend if you are looking for a fun and easy way to travel through LA!
I've been on this tour 3 times now and each time the vans get dirtier and dirtier. My last time taking the tour was yesterday and I would never book a tour with them again. No matter how good the tours may be it's hard to enjoy it while sitting in a disgusting, filthy van.
Wow was this an experience, one I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. It was so bad I'm writing this review as I'm stepping off the bus. The tour guide was awful, pointed out nothing of actual interest and was asking riders about their favorite movies. His mic feedback went off non-stop making it unbearable to listen to. We had 4 buses for our event, 1 of the bus drivers didn't know the route and was arguing with the guide on where to go. Do yourself a favor and do a self guided tour or just google some information about LA. It will be significantly more informative that using this company.
We have used Starlline tours before in London, Miami and Toronto. They are a decent way to get the lay of the land if you don't have much time. I also like siting up top and looking down on the sights. We drove up to Hollywood and parked near the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We paid $20.00 to park for the whole day as we figured we would be there awhile. We took our first bus around 9:00 AM, this was the red route. The red route hit a lot places on Sunset and they have a recorded tour that you can listen to explaining all of the sights and history from the bus. They supply the head phones also. On some of the other StarLiine tours they had a person on a speaker doing the the guide and I missed that interaction. We also went through Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, The La Brea Tar Pits and the Beverly center. The tour was about 2.5 hours. We got back to start point at 1:00 and the next route we wanted to take, the Purple was at 2:00 PM. We killed the hour by grabbing something to eat at the mall on Holllywoood Blvd. The Purple route took us by Parmaount studios and into down town Los Angeles. I was pretty excited about this as I wanted to see historic section, Union Station, The Bradbury Building, The Angel Flight, etc. We didn't realize unlike the Red route, that has another bus every 20-30 minutes, the Purple only comes every 1:40 minutes. So sadly we did not get off the bus to see these sights as that would have put us back in Hollywood past 6:30 PM. We did get some nice views of China Town, the Staples Center, etc. I wish we had more time. The two routes weren't bad and again these tours are a good way to get a quick look at the city and give you an idea what to see and what to come back for. The Red route with its 20 minute next bus time is a good way of getting around also. I heard it is a 2 hour ride to get to the transfer bus to go to Santa Monica so that is something to consider if you want to see Venice beach, etc. LA is a spread out city with a lot of traffic so that also effects the tours. We paid about $39.00 per person for the one day/24 hrs.

I bought two tickets for friends and payed $80 in total, looking at the website I thought they could do the yellow and red line that covers from Santa Monica to the Hollywood area, my friend complained to me that the driver who was driving the yellow line never stopped the bus at any of the bus stop, only to pick up a couple, when they got at the stop number 7 to change to the red bus I found out that the $80 that I payed for them covered only one line. I definitely don't recommend this company.
We decided to do the Hop on-Hop off tour with Starline and were very disappointed. First, the first bus we were on (yellow line) took a 10 minute detour. No explanation, just an announcement saying that if we were listening to the audio, there wouldn't be any for 10 minutes because we were taking a detour. Finally, the audio came on, but then the lights all went off! Again, no explanation. Then, we stopped at stop 7 with zero instructions and finally were told to get off to transfer to the Red Line and this Yellow line bus was taking a 25 minute break, this stranding all the Yellow line riders. Finally got a Red bus and went to Hollywood. It was uneventful, but not much info on the audio tour. Upon returning to stop 7 to head back to Santa Monica, the worker at the stop was down the street on her phone so we could not ask any questions. New bus pulls up, we all get on...NOPE.. gotta get off and wait on another bus going the same direction! Then, we have to wait for yet another bus before we can leave. Bus never comes. We finally leave. Zero audio all the way back to Santa Monica. Again, no explanation. I found this whole experience unbelievably unprofessional and disorganized. We chose this option in order to learn about the city and the buildings and history and such. I feel like this company preys on tourists and stole my money. The city bus would've been more informative and interesting. Don't waste your money! $98 wasted today. One more thing.. I am a travel agent and was checking this out for clients. I will NOT be sending them to this company.
LOL- You'd think two UCLA students would be too experienced to need a tour of Los Angeles after living here for four years. Well apparently not... I never realized how cool that guitar store was on Sunset, or the fact that Kermit the Frog stood on top of a building, or the fact that all people think of LA is Pink's Hot Dogs. But seriously, it was all in good fun. My friend and I paid $25 each for a one-hour (but it was more like two) tour of Hollywood, Sunset, and Wilshire. It was the cheapest package deal, so unfortunately there was no tour guide... only an audio recording. So of course this adventure wouldn't have been much fun if we hadn't been pre-partying before hand ;) If I was really a tourist, I would shell out a bit more for a more interactive tour. Sure the double decker bus was fun, and getting a free tan on top of a sunny day was legit, I would have opted for some more entertainment. Starline Tours also does stops at every landmark and in theory, allows people to get on and off to see the sites. The bus comes every half an hour, but with LA traffic, you can pretty much guess that it will take much longer. As a helpful tip, when you're about to get off at the Chinese Theater where this begins, I would recommend getting off a stop earlier if you see that Hollywood is full of traffic. We spent a good twenty minutes on top of the bus between two stops cause traffic was so bad. If you are not a tourist and you drove here to experience Starline Tours like I did, there is a lot behind the Chinese Theater that you can park in. It will cost you $10 for the day.
Watch for the sign
Can't rate Starline highly enough, the private tour of the Hollywood sign was awesome and the hop on hop off buses are a really handy way to see the city, choose places to go back to and get from one place to another
Best views from a great guide who knew a quiet trail up to the sign
