Here's a first look at Disney Cruise Line's upcoming 'Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge'

The Disney Wish features an adults-only Star Wars bar to transport guests to a galaxy far, far away.

Disney Cruise Lines will transport "Star Wars" fans to a galaxy far, far away with a new Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish in 2022.

Hoping to make a titanic splash in the luxury cruise market and make thirsty " Star Wars " fans eager to jump aboard, Disney's upcoming ocean liner named the Disney Wish comes fully equipped with a stunning adults-only "Star Wars"-themed bar called the "Hyperspace Lounge."

Disney Cruise Lines released the first concept art images of their sparkling new ship and high-end bar last week and the enticing promotional images have admirers of that galaxy far, far away excited for the big boat’s maiden voyage in the summer of 2022.

In an interview with StarWars.com , Danny Handke, Senior Creative Director of Disney Imagineering, explained their goals in creating an immersive “Star Wars” experience for adults.

"We always talked about the fact that kids get to immerse themselves in Star Wars," said Handke . "But as a grownup, and a parent, I’m jealous that I don't have my own space on the ship where I can immerse myself in 'Star Wars,' since 'Star Wars' is multi-generational. So we pitched the idea, 'What if we did a lounge that's for grownups only at night? It becomes an adult playground for the world of 'Star Wars.'' And everyone just loved that idea."

As guests sip an assortment of sci-fi cocktails from Tatooine, Mustafar, Endor, and Batuu inside a fictional "Star Wars" party spaceship, they'll blast through space and time courtesy of a special seven-panel viewport offering widescreen cosmic scenes.

"The visual effects are all-new for the Disney Wish," Handke adds . "We worked with ILM. Each sequence is almost like a mini-storyline that plays out. You'll see iconic ships, you'll see really cool things happen. ILM adds so much eye candy and they take it to a whole other level for us, which is so awesome. They work in all sorts of Easter eggs and little details."

Handke admitted that Endor was his favorite destination in the space yacht simulation.

"You see the forest moon from 'Return of the Jedi' and Kef Bir, the water moon from 'The Rise of Skywalker,'" he said . "When we designed this scene, we were talking about, 'What should it be? Do we see Death Star debris? Let's do the First Order era for that.' So I asked the Story Group and ILM, 'Could we do like, a little bit of 'Star Wars?' What happens if we have some Resistance cruisers, and the First Order shows up? Can we do a little battle?' They said, 'You can do a little skirmish. Not a full-on battle, but a skirmish.' And so we staged this really cool skirmish scene, where the Resistance and the First Order are fighting each other. You get the laser fire, you get the TIE fighter explosion, and then at the very end we have these three X-wings that come down in front of our screen and protect us. I am so stoked about it."

The Disney Wish and its gold-accented "Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge" set sail in 2022.

EVERYTHING We Tried At Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge on Disney’s New Cruise Ship — The Wish!

By Samantha Kendall 3 Comments

We’re taking in all the sights and sounds of Disney’s newest cruise ship, the Disney Wish!

star wars bar cruise ship

Welcome aboard the Disney Wish!

That’s right — we’ve set sail on Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship! This ship is massive , and there are so many fun activities and attractions we want to show you. So today, we’re inviting you to come with us on a galactic adventure to the Hyperspace Lounge !

We’ve entered the  Star Wars -themed Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish!  This lounge features “otherworldly concoctions” and interactive tasting experiences , all in a sleek space that looks out of this world.

Welcome to the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge!

star wars bar cruise ship

Hyperspace Lounge

The second we walked in, we felt as though we were transported onto a lavish star cruiser , similar to Dryden Vos’ ship in Solo .

star wars bar cruise ship

It’s very  Star Wars , but also very lounge-y, too. Although the bar is small, there is plenty of seating inside, both at the bar and at tables with chairs, as well as booths.

star wars bar cruise ship

Thanks to the virtually-enhanced “windows, ” we were able to journey through different planets, like Tatooine, Batuu, Endor, Coruscant, and Mustafar.  A new planet is shown every 7 minutes! Oh, and did we mention the “windows” show you over 40 different spaceships from the  Star Wars  franchise?!

star wars bar cruise ship

When the “ship” jumps into hyperspace to travel to a new planet, you see that in the window as well.

star wars bar cruise ship

Jumping to hyerspace

At Hyperspace Lounge, guests have the option of purchasing three different souvenir cups . The cups look very similar to the souvenir cups on the Galactic Starcruiser, but these are Wish branded for  $12 each . The two cups on the right are for alcoholic drinks, while the Porg cup is made for non-alcoholic beverages.

star wars bar cruise ship

Souvenir cups at Hyperspace Lounge

There are some interactive drink experiences here as well, and we got to check out this fancy smoking contraption before trying one of our drinks!

star wars bar cruise ship

Fancy drink contraption

Of course, we didn’t just come for the theming. We also came for the galactic drinks!

star wars bar cruise ship

“Otherwordly concoctions” are served here!

We dove right in!

You’ll find a variety of interesting cocktails here, all themed to  Star Wars .

star wars bar cruise ship

Each cocktail is based on a planet in the Star Wars universe.

star wars bar cruise ship

There’s also a  Hyperfuel Drink — Coaxium Trio for  $250 . You’ll also find several non-alcoholic options here, one of which comes in the Porg Souvenir Glass.

star wars bar cruise ship

The $5,000 Kaiburr Crystal  is also on the menu (more on that later). A variety of wines are available here, too, including wines from Italy…

star wars bar cruise ship

…and France.

star wars bar cruise ship

There’s a selection of wines from Skywalker Vineyards — a flight is available.

star wars bar cruise ship

You can even drink some  Star Wars inspired  Brews.

star wars bar cruise ship

So let’s order some drinks!

So what’s really cool about this lounge is that all the bottles being used for drinks here have Hyperspace Lounge-specific labels — with each being its own spirit. The theming here is ON POINT.

star wars bar cruise ship

Check out the labels!

If you’ve got plenty of cash laying around, there’s also a  $5000 drink at the Hyperspace Lounge . It’s called a Kaiburr Crystal comes served in a camtono, but that price gets you more than just a cool drink.

The $5,000 Kaiburr Crystal on the #DisneyWish is an experience that also includes a visit to Skywalker Ranch and a special themed escort off the ship. Here’s everything I was able to confirm: pic.twitter.com/Srm2IwNNat — Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) July 1, 2022

You also get the four silver cups that the drink comes with, along with a Star Wars backpack, water bottle, other gifts, and a room decoration that is themed to Hyperspace Lounge. PLUS you get a bottle of sparkling wine from Skywalker Ranch AND a voucher for 1 person to visit Skywalker Ranch. Note that we did NOT try this one!

star wars bar cruise ship

Comes With Some Special Perks!

However, we did try the other drinks, starting with the  Spire Sunset for $15 , which is made with Saigon Bagur, Kumquat, Lychee, and Coconut . We’re just going to tell you that this was the drink our whole team agreed on as the favorite! It’s both sweet and tart, but not to the point that it’s overwhelming. Very smooth and delicious!

star wars bar cruise ship

Spire Sunset

The Berken’s Flow ($16) has SelvaRey Coconut, Rumchata, Godiva Chocolate, and Coconut Water  in it — PLUS the Disney Wish is written on top of it in an edible ink that glows under a blacklight.

So it looks GREAT, but it was SO sweet, like WAY too sweet. If you like sweet drinks, this one might be for you, but it was a bit much for us.

star wars bar cruise ship

Berken’s Flow

We also tried The Chancellor for $20, made with Hennessy James, and Calvados Menorval 1972. Like the Chancellor Palpatine (later Emperor), it was smoky and harsh.

star wars bar cruise ship

Smokin’!

The  Golden One for  $15 is made with Belvedere Blackberry & Lemongrass, Amaretto Velvet.  This is basically an alcoholic, drinkable Creamsicle, so we thought it was great! It’s sweet, but not too much because you get a nice tang from the citrus flavors in it.

star wars bar cruise ship

The  Asteroid Belt for $16 is made with Código 1530 Artesenal Mezcal, Cointreau Blood Orange, and Bailey’s Salted Caramel. Interesting, right? Honestly, we thought we’d hate it, but it was actually pretty alright! It’s got some smokiness from the mezcal, but the Bailey’s smooths it out.

star wars bar cruise ship

Asteroid Belt

Finally, the  Freetown Reserve for $20 is made with Woodford Reserve Double Oaked . another fun drink. It starts with a blue sparkling ice cube (it’s an ice cube with edible glitter in it!).

star wars bar cruise ship

How it started…

Then it’s poured over the top of the cube and it gets SMOKY. It’s another drink that looks cool, but flavor-wise, it was very biting and HARSH.

star wars bar cruise ship

How it ended!

Whew — that’s a lot of drinks, but we had to try everything to get you all the deets!

Overall, we think adults will love this spot! You get to jump through different planets while sipping on otherworldly concoctions . It doesn’t get much better than that. The drinks are fun, and there should be something here to please just about anyone who likes cocktails. If you want a little taste of the Galactic Starcruiser but don’t want to pay for that experience, this was pretty similar in feel.

My party of 3 spent $100 at the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish, and it's totally worth it

  • I spent $100 at Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge aboard the big, new Disney Wish , and it was amazing.
  • It's worth a visit for anyone who likes well-made cocktails and immersive environments.
  • I loved it more than Oga's Cantina at the parks because of its theming and incredible drinks.

I recently sailed aboard Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, which is home to Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge.

star wars bar cruise ship

I recently sailed aboard the company's newest ship, the Disney Wish, which offers some exciting dining and lounge options at sea.

In addition to a Frozen-themed dinner theater, I was most looking forward to visiting the themed lounges, like the Bayou and Hook's Barbery.

But once I arrived on board, I couldn't wait to check out Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, the first "Star Wars"-themed bar at sea.

As a fan of Oga's Cantina at Disneyland and Disney World, I was looking forward to seeing how this compares.

As a freelance theme-park journalist, I was invited to ride the ship early for free, but I paid for extra experiences and specialty dining, like this, out of my own pocket.

My party decided to visit the lounge on the first evening of the cruise.

star wars bar cruise ship

Hyperspace Lounge is located on deck three across from the Bayou, a gorgeous lounge themed after "The Princess and the Frog."

Although the "Star Wars" lounge is open to all during the day , it's adults-only in the evenings.

When we visited on the first night of our cruise, we were able to walk right in. But the next day, the lounge switched to a reservation system.

The well-themed entrance puts you right in the middle of the action.

star wars bar cruise ship

The entryway, where multicolored potions line the walls, immediately puts you into a "Star Wars" story.

After a small hallway, guests push a brightly lit green button on the wall before a door dramatically opens — with a loud swooshing sound — to welcome you inside the dimly lit cocktail den.

Once inside, I was surprised by its upscale nature.

star wars bar cruise ship

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is much more high-end than Oga's at the parks.

Instead of a rugged cantina feel, it's more refined with elegant gold detailing.

There are also tons of little nooks enhancing the all-around intimate feel.

The lounge is decorated with relics from around the galaxy.

star wars bar cruise ship

Around the lounge, I spotted items from different planets in the "Star Wars" galaxy , like an idol from Batuu and a volcanic crystal from Mustafar.

These added a pop of color to the gold, minimalistic setting.

There's both table seating and bar seating.

star wars bar cruise ship

I was also surprised to find both table seating and bar seating — unlike Oga's Cantina , which is largely standing room only.

My party opted to sit at the bar, which had prime viewing of "space" via a large screen made to look like a window.

I felt like we were really part of the storyline.

star wars bar cruise ship

Star Wars: Hyperspace lounge is themed to be a party ship that cruises through the galaxy to seven different locations.

As you're looking at the window, the "ship" periodically goes into "hyperspace" and onto the next locale, like Batuu or Coruscant. Plus, it travels to different time periods, like when "The Mandalorian" takes place on Tatooine.

The scenes depicted include views of X-wings, TIE fighters, and other ships from the "Star Wars" universe.

Going into hyperspace was my favorite part. The state-of-the-art screens are very realistic, so it was fun to play along.

There's an epic cocktail menu that ranges from $15 to $5,000.

star wars bar cruise ship

The drinks are completely different from those found at Oga's Cantina and, much to my delight, aren't premade mixes.

The made-from-scratch cocktails are wildly inventive and themed to different planets. It also serves beer, wine from Skywalker vineyard (owned by George Lucas), and zero-proof mocktails.

Most cocktails were between $15 and $20. But there's also a $5,000 cocktail , the Kaiburr Crystal, which is described as "the galaxy's rarest and valuable cocktail."

The four-serving drink experience is elaborately presented in a Camtono (from the original trilogy films) and includes Camus Cognac 4.16 and Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23-year bourbon.

It also comes with "Star Wars" gifts, a bottle of wine from Skywalker Ranch, a visit for one to the ranch, and a special send-off from the ship.

I tried the Freetown Reserve.

star wars bar cruise ship

Priced at $20 and inspired by Tatooine, the Freetown Reserve is made with Woodford Reserve double-oaked bourbon and served smoked over a glittering blue ice cube.

This was very booze-forward and reminded me of an old-fashioned.

It was so good I ended up ordering a second one. It ranked as one of the best cocktails I tried on the cruise.

We also tried a beer.

star wars bar cruise ship

We tried the Mustafarian black ale ($10) inspired by the dark, volcanic history of the location of Darth Vader's personal sanctum, Fortress Vader.

This was a delicious and excellent stout. It looked like it might be heavy, but it tasted lighter than expected.

At 8.5% ABV, the alcohol shines through as it's a higher percentage than the average beer (typically closer to 5% ABV).

The Spire Sunset was a fruiter option.

star wars bar cruise ship

We also tried the Batu-inspired Spire Sunset ($15), which was fruit-forward with kumquat, lychee, and coconut.

The drink was pretty, and it's a good option if you don't like the taste of alcohol as it wasn't overpowering.

My party ended up ordering a second one.

There's no food at the bar, but we got some free snacks with our drinks.

star wars bar cruise ship

The lounge doesn't serve food, but we were offered complimentary bar snacks, including chocolate-covered pretzels and other sweets.

The drinks were better than those at Oga's Cantina in the parks, and I can't wait to return.

star wars bar cruise ship

With standout cocktails and incredibly immersive theming, Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge now ranks as one of my favorite Disney bars.

I love Oga's Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at the parks, but overall, I thought the drinks were much better at Hyperspace Lounge.

If I'm paying close to $20 for a cocktail, I expect it to be made fresh and not pre-batched. Plus, I really enjoyed watching the bartenders tinker over the elaborate cocktails.

My party of three ended up spending $100 on five drinks, but we had an absolute blast and thoroughly enjoyed our time.

The cocktails are wonderfully balanced, and the staff was extremely friendly. Even those who aren't fans of the films can likely appreciate the fun atmosphere.

Come to Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish With Us!

star wars bar cruise ship

Star Wars hotel , who?? It’s time for ANOTHER Star Wars lounge — on the Disney Wish !

star wars bar cruise ship

We were invited to a media event to preview everything the newest Disney Cruise Line ship has to offer — from restaurants to decor to characters and LOTS more. We paid a visit to a spot Star Wars fans won’t want to miss on the Disney Wish — so find out what we thought!

The Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is a bar/lounge that’s available to families (including kids) during the day and adults-only at night. It’s located on Deck 3.

star wars bar cruise ship

We visited during the afternoon, so our experience is exclusive to that time period. During the day, there is typically more John Williams score music playing, while nighttime will have a Cantina vibe.

Atmosphere & Decor

The entrance of the Hyperspace Lounge is shaped like classic, rounded doors you see in all kinds of Star Wars content. You walk into a dark space and hear a big “woooosh” sound like an airlock release, and there you are!

star wars bar cruise ship

The ship’s design is inspired by Dryden Vos’s ship in  Solo: A Star Wars Story , and there’s a lot of sleek, metallic detailing throughout the lounge.

star wars bar cruise ship

But the biggest thing we noticed was the SCREEN! There is a BIG screen that functions as a “window,” and it gives guests a look into “space.” Over 40 different spaceships from the Star Wars  franchise can be spotted on this screen!

star wars bar cruise ship

Previously, we learned that the screen to “space” was so large pixel-wise that they had to work with Industrial Light & Magic to create the scenes! There are special angles of ships and worlds that no one has ever seen in the  Star Wars  movies.

star wars bar cruise ship

While you’re in the lounge, you could travel to up to seven different locations in the galaxy, with places you might recognize from the original  Star Wars trilogy and the sequels. You might see Tatooine, Mustafar, Batuu, Coruscant, or the Moons of Endor, and there’s also an Ace Squadron scene inspired by the animated  Star Wars  series, Rogue Squadron .

star wars bar cruise ship

Each “world” gets about 7-10 minutes on the screen, so depending on how long you visit, you could potentially catch all the scenes. There’s a hyperspace jump in between scenes, and it moves in sync with the movement of the ship.

star wars bar cruise ship

In terms of seating, there’s a bar along one wall with a long table near the center of the room. There are also booths and other seating areas available, with four spots where “space oddities” are displayed.

star wars bar cruise ship

The back of the lounge is raised up so that even if you end up in the back of the room, you can still get a good view of the screen! The back is also where you can find the holotube , which is a large, cylindrical container that displays holographs of passing ships!

star wars bar cruise ship

Cast Members wore costumes designed in collaboration with Doug Chiang from Lucasfilm.

star wars bar cruise ship

Now let’s get into the menu!

The menu for Hyperspace Lounge was described by Disney to include “otherworldly concoctions” and interactive tasting experiences. We pulled up the menu on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, and it had cocktails from various planets…

star wars bar cruise ship

…which may look familiar…

star wars bar cruise ship

…non-alcoholic beverages…

star wars bar cruise ship

…a $5,000 cocktail(!!!)…

star wars bar cruise ship

…wines…

star wars bar cruise ship

…The Flight of Skywalker (an intergalactic wine flight)…

star wars bar cruise ship

…and some galactic brews.

star wars bar cruise ship

We decided to try out some of their cocktails!

star wars bar cruise ship

We tried the Berken’s Flow from Mustafar ($16) …

star wars bar cruise ship

…the Golden One from the Moons of Endor ($15) …

star wars bar cruise ship

… Pickled Mynock from the Asteroid Belt ($16) ….

star wars bar cruise ship

…and the Spire Sunset from Batuu ($15) !

star wars bar cruise ship

We enjoyed all of our drinks, but we do need to warn you — they’re pretty sweet. So if you enjoy a sweet drink, this lounge is definitely for you. Our favorite drink was the Spire Sunrise. It was sweet and tart, without tasting too strong.

But overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks at the Hyperspace Lounge!

Disney Wish – Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

During Disney Cruise Line reveal of the Disney Wish during the  Once Upon a Disney Wish grand reveal prevention , Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge was announced as high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship offering a space-jumping tour of the Star Wars galaxy. This richly themed, immersive experience will be reserved for adults every evening, offering interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by the films.

Disney Wish Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge

The venue’s sleek interior design and metallic detailing is inspired by lavish star cruisers similar to Dryden Vos’ ship in “Solo: A  Star Wars  Story.” While guests sip their galactic concoctions, this space-faring voyage will transport them to iconic locations from the eras of the Republic, Empire and First Order, employing hyperspace jumps to travel from planet to planet while sensational scenes unfold just beyond the ship’s panoramic viewport at each stop.

Disney Wish Hyperspace Lounge

Ranging from serene vistas to action-packed encounters, the spectacles seen through this virtual “window” into the galaxy will feature famous space ships from the films and fan-favorite locales like Batuu, Tatooine, Mustafar and Coruscant. The experience will be amplified by surround-sound audio and a holotube that presents holographic models of nearby ships.

StarWars.com revealed some additional details which included an interview with Imagineer, Danny Handke who is spearheading the Star Wars lounge project for the Disney Wish. Handke told StarWars.com , “the idea came, simply, from wanting to hang out in  Star Wars .”

“We always talked about the fact that kids get to immerse themselves in  Star Wars ,” Handke says, having overseen the  Star Wars -themed kids spaces on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. “But as a grownup, and a parent, I’m jealous that I don’t have my own space on the ship where I can immerse myself in  Star Wars , since  Star Wars  is multi-generational. So we pitched the idea, ‘What if we did a lounge that’s for grownups only at night? It becomes an adult playground for the world of  Star Wars .’ And everyone just loved that idea.” (Parents, don’t worry: the lounge will be open to your younglings in the daytime, with plenty of non-alcoholic drinks.)

Ideas for the lounge began to flow around the time of The Last Jedi and Solo. According to Handke, brainstorming with where the lounge would be set from a cantina, on a planet, or somewhere strange in the galaxy. Ultimately, based on the fact the venue would be aboard a cruise ship, it was decided to make the lounge in the form of a  Star Wars  ship.

Hyperspace is more than just a name, guests should think of the lounge venue like a party ship through the galaxy. Guests will be transported to different locations and all while getting a tour of space, and sampling amazing drinks from those different planets – and also, time periods.

“We want to see a little bit of Empire-era Star Destroyers and TIE fighters,” Handke says. “And we want to see the Resistance from the First Order era, the prequel era, a familiar ship from  The Mandalorian , and  Rogue One .” The illusion will be created via the bar viewport, a widescreen, seven-pane window to the stars.

Imagineering collaborated with Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) to create the visual effect sequences which are in themselves, mini-storylines all filled with rich detail and occasional Easter eggs.

DCL Disney Wish Hyperspace Lounge 1

Details on the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are still under wraps, but it has been confirmed the drinks are being created from scratch and not replications of the drinks found around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Gold features prominently throughout  Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge, from chairs and bar stools to accents on columns to the frame of the large viewport into space (which happens to show a certain bucket of bolts passing by). The vertical lighting, utilized on walls, the floor, and the ceiling, is classic  Star Wars . The taps are an elegant cylindrical cluster, again in gold casings. But if you look closely, there are stories to be told…and Easter eggs for keen-eyed fans.

As for the viewport behind the bar…. Skyline on the Dream and Fantasy may have been a starting point for Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, but those are in a completely different galaxy. According to StarWars.com, there are over 40 starships guests will encounter in the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge aboard the Disney Wish. While passengers travel the galaxy, they’ll be treated to spectacular views through the lounge’s widescreen viewport — including encounters with starships of all kinds. So far, five planet destinations have been announced by StarWars.com which includes the following fighters, freighters, cruisers, and more featured at these stops.

“…it has been confirmed the drinks are being created from scratch and not replications of the drinks found around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.” Wow. Disney does not get it. Why do they continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. Sure, make some new drinks but also offer the Galaxy’s Edge drink menu as well. Having a Fuzzy TaunTaun on The Wish would’ve been awesome. While Batuu is not a Star Wars locale, at least they didn’t put planets in this from the ST. When Batuu comes on screen I’ll use that time to take a viewing break.

' src=

Why do people like you come and complain about the sequels. Batuu is amazing plus it was talked about in solo. Just enjoy this and stop being a fandom menace sh!thead

' src=

I’m surprised that this site allowed you to post your lame response. Go away, shill.

Our experience on the Ships and bars in the Disney Resort is that any bartender can recreate any drink from any Disney location. As long as you know the exact ingredients, it can be made. On the WONDER, I had the bartender make a Smoked Turkey we get at the Grand California hotel and on the Fantasy, we got the Shipwreck drink from Trader Sam’s. Unless there is some exclusive ingredient, these bartenders can make any drink that you can ask them about. I have found that it helps to speak to the bartender directly to see what they can do. They really like to “show off” their skills.

Why do you need a reservation?

As of now, yes.

Here are over 40 starships you'll encounter at disney cruise line’s star wars : hyperspace lounge - exclusive.

StarWars.com Team

You won’t just be enjoying a space cocktail in the Disney Wish’s Star Wars bar.

This is going to be a Star Wars journey you won’t forget.

As shared last week on StarWars.com , Disney Cruise Line’s Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge will bring Canto Bight-like flair and fancy galactic beverages to the Disney Wish . But that’s not all fans will experience when the ship sets sail in 2022.

While passengers travel the galaxy, they’ll be treated to spectacular views through the lounge’s widescreen viewport -- including encounters with starships of all kinds. So far, five planet destinations have been announced and StarWars.com is thrilled to reveal the full list of fighters, freighters, cruisers, and more featured at these stops.

Your browser does not support the video tag.

You’ll see ships iconic (the Millennium Falcon ), fan-favorite (the  Razor Crest  from  The Mandalorian ), obscure (Coruscant freighter), and everything in-between. They’ve all been brought to life by the wizards at Industrial Light & Magic; you can get an idea of what these encounters will look like in the concept art and video featured above, which find the Resistance fleet engaging the First Order near the moons of Endor...and  very  close to the bar. (So sip your drinks with care!)

As for why you’ll be seeing these starships, you’ll just have to experience Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge yourself to find out…

Disney Wish Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge Bar Menu – The Experience You Have Been Looking For?

Sharing is caring!

One of the most highly anticipated features of the new Disney Wish is the Star Wars-themed bar.

If you want to be transported to a Galaxy Far Far Away then the Hyperspace Lounge Bar is the place to be on the Disney Wish.

As you would expect from the Disney Imagineers, the theming is amazingly done.

disneywishstarwarsbar

Even walking through the door of Hyperspace Lounge on the Wish is an immersive experience. That distinctive swish sound makes you want to go through the door more than once!

Located on Deck 3 this Star Wars Bar on the Disney Wish is a relatively small space. In fact, it’s an incredibly small space.

But everyone on the Wish really should step inside this innovative bar at least once – if only to experience the sound of that swishy door!

How Do You Get Into Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish?

The Lounge is located on Deck 3 on the port side, next to The Bayou.

When Disney Wish was first launched this bar was so popular that a reservation system had to be developed.

Its popularity has waned since those early days and now, you can just walk in at any time and see for yourself if a table is available.

star wars bar cruise ship

Most times I have done this there has been some seating available, particularly at the bar, which is one of the best places to sit as you can see the huge screen behind it, and also watch the bartenders make those interesting cocktails.

Are kids allowed in Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge? Yes, but only before 9 pm when it becomes an adult-only space.

Hyperspace Lounge Impressions – What is it Really Like?

I know I keep saying this but the bar is small. And I was disappointed.

I really think that this was a missed opportunity and the design just isn’t quite right.

The screens are the focal point of the bar and there are some interesting scenes on there. But the novelty of this soon wears off.

And the screens themselves just weren’t all that impressive as they are chopped up so this doesn’t help with any sense of immersion.

starwarsbardisneywish

The seating itself really isn’t very comfortable. The seat groupings are all for larger parties so it doesn’t make for the most effective use of the space either.

For me, the promise of the outside with that fabulous sliding door really leads to less than what I had hoped for.

Disney Wish Star Wars Bar Menu

For those who do go to the lounge, you have the chance to spend almost as much on a drink as you would on a stay in the Disney Star Wars-themed hotel in Florida.

If you have $5,000 spare you can indulge in a Kaiburr Crystal which is described as the “galaxy’s rarest and valuable cocktail”.

What is the Kailburr Crystal?

One of the most talked about elements of the Disney Wish Star Wars Bar as soon as it opened was the Kailburr Crystal Cocktail which has a $5,000 price tag.

Fortunately for $5,000 you do get more than the drink and the experience of it being served.

Firstly the “vessel” that the drink is served in is apparently known as a camtono. This can be seen The Empire Strikes Back ,  The Mandalorian  and  The Book of Boba Fett . There is it shown to be used as a safe – which is appropriate for your $5,000 drink!

Anyone wanting to keep this highly individual container after shelling out such a huge amount of money is going to be disappointed. You do not get to take this home.

You do get some other souvenirs to pack in your suitcase though:

  • A  Star Wars  backpack and water bottle
  • A Hyperspace-themed room decoration
  • A bottle of personalized sparkling Skywalker Vineyards wine.
  • Four silver plated glasses that arrive with your cocktail.

I can tell you are probably still wondering where the value is going to kick in.

Well fortunately it does as the Kailburr Crystal comes with a voucher for one person to visit Skywalker Ranch.

This is a pretty exclusive and valuable trip as Skywalker Ranch is not open to the public. Note that this is a voucher for one. The only way a friend is coming along with you is if they also have $5,000 to spend.

The Kailburr Crystal is probably also the only cocktail to include a  Star Wars- themed escort off the ship.

For those who perhaps have a little less to spend than that, the Cocktails start at $15, wines from the Skywalker Vineyard start at $14.50 per glass and a Galaxy Brew beer is available for $10.

This is also a great chance to upgrade to a Star Wars-themed souvenir cup for $12 each. There is a choice of 3 different designs including a Porg cup.

Walking in - after reading so much about the Hyperspace - we were prepared to be amazed. The drinks were fun and delicious - the theming was fun, but it was not the over-the-top, immersive experience we expected. If there hadn't been so much hype - from both DCL and cruise reviewers - we probably would have been more impressed, but overall the lounge fell short. Were we glad we went - absolutely! Did we feel the need to return after our first visit - no. And I agree 100% with all of your comments.

The New 'Disney Wish' Cruise Ship Will Have a 'Star Wars' Bar and a 'Frozen' Dinner Theater Experience

Disney is also debuting the first-ever Marvel restaurant on their newest cruise ship.

The Disney Wish is on track to sail in summer 2022, and the ship will be home to immersive dining experiences that have never been seen before on Disney Cruise Line's fleet.

Perhaps the most notable addition is the Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge, a galactic-themed bar designed to look like a space ship that will "travel" to different planets from the Star Wars universe. At each stop, guests can sip cocktails themed around that respective planet.

Other adults-only options on board are Palo Steakhouse (a Disney Cruise Line staple that has been "reimagined" for this ship), Enchanté (a fine dining restaurant from acclaimed chef Arnaud Lallement of the Michelin-starred L'Assiette Champnoise in France), and The Rose, a cocktail lounge that connects the two restaurants. Each of these spaces is subtly themed around Disney's Beauty and the Beast .

For family-friendly dining locations, there are three new restaurants offering new and immersive experiences.

The first is 1923, an old Hollywood-themed spot designed to "pay homage to the golden age of animation," according to a press release. The restaurant will be adorned with over 1,000 drawings and props that show the evolution of Disney animation over the years, with cuisine that is California inspired.

Also new to the ship is World of Marvel, which will be an interactive dining experience bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life around guests. The restaurant will have a "worldly menu," with dishes inspired by African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia and the Avengers' home base of New York City.

Finally, the characters of Frozen will be front and center at Arrandale, which is a theatrical dinner experience featuring Elsa, Ana, Kristoff and Olaf. The menu will have "world-class cuisine infused with Nordic influences," the press release states.

In addition to the new dining options, Disney has revealed that the ship will be home to The AquaMouse , touted as "the first Disney attraction at sea." The water ride will have 760 feet of winding tubes that suspend over the ship's upper deck and promises to give guests an "audio and video immersion" experience into The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse , an animated short series streaming on Disney+.

The first sailing of the Disney Wish is not until June 9, 2022, but guests can start booking on May 27, 2021.

Concept art of the bar

The lounge was developed by a Walt Disney Imagineering team lead by senior creative director Danny Handke , who conceived of the bar as a place for adult Star Wars fans in contrast with the other Disney cruise ships' Star Wars -themed areas aimed at children. The bar was inspired by the sophisticated styles of Dryden Vos 's First Light yacht and the Canto Bight casino . [2]

The concept included having the lounge simulate a ship jumping through hyperspace to different locations, using a video screen " viewport " made to look like a widescreen, seven-pane window to create the affect. In order to reference various Star Wars sources, different settings throughout the timeline are visited as well. [2]

The Disney Wish also features an immersive children's experience known as Star Wars : Cargo Bay . [4]

US$5000 Star Wars cocktail on new Disney Wish cruise ship

CruiseMapper logo

The Hyperspace Lounge aboard the 2022-inaugurated Disney Wish cruise ship is serving the "rarest"/most "valuable" cocktail from the Star Wars galaxy, but it will set guests back US$5000.

The big-ticket beverage appeared on social media, showing exactly what DCL-Disney Cruise Line passengers will be getting for all of those credits. The new drink arrives at the table encased inside a camtono (a security container used for storing valuables in The Mandalorian/The Book of Boba Fett). It is unveiled with a button touch and a twist of a rotary cylindric handle.

Much like the prop that is used on-screen, the side panels of the carrier fall open granting the recipient access to the contents. Inside, there appear to be 3 shot-style glasses serving the US$5000 concoction, officially popular as the Kaliburr Crystal on the Hyperspace Lounge menu. The ingredients are not listed.

There have been speculations about what might be in the cocktail for the hefty price tag. One popular hypothesis is Remy Martin's Louis XIII cognac, which costs $3000-4000 a bottle, or some other high-quality liquor, though it is also possible that it is a more standard top-shelf liquor presented in a novelty way.

Disney Wish cruise ship

However, there are a wealth of regular-priced drinks on the Hyperspace Lounge's cocktail menu, starting at US$15 for a Spire Sunset containing a refreshing mix of Saigon Bagur, Kumquat, coconut, and lychee.

With the purchase of any cocktail, guests can take home a Hyperspace Lounge Glass as a souvenir for an additional US$12.

Here’s the Deal with the $5,000 STAR WARS Cocktail

Nerdist joined the christening cruise for Disney’s newest cruise ship, the Disney Wish , on Wednesday. One of the first places we visited was the new Star Wars bar on the ship, Hyperspace Lounge . It’s the first-of-its-kind-bar on a Disney cruise ship. Mysterious liquids bubble in vessels in the corner. Jars showcase oddities and relics throughout the lounge. And the vast screen behind the Dryden Vos’ yacht-inspired bar takes guests throughout the galaxy. The screen takes hyperspace leaps between familiar locales. The travel features imagery crafted by ILM. The cocktail menu samples beverages across the galaxy, with both characters and locations inspiring various drinks. The menu includes the “Kaiburr Crystal,” a $5,000 Star Wars cocktail. And no, Kaiburr crystal is not a typo. It’s a Star Wars object that dates back to Alan Dean Foster’s Splinter of the Mind’s Eye .

Disney Wish Star Wars lounge

But what is the $5,000 Star Wars cocktail? It wasn’t easy to find out.

The menu describes it as “the galaxy’s rarest and valuable cocktail” with no other details. On our first night in the lounge, the server couldn’t share any insight, only mentioning it wasn’t yet available. We interviewed a Walt Disney Imagineering representative and a bartender, but they would not share any details about the $5,000 cocktail. They asked if I’d heard about it from spies. All they would confirm is that, yes, it is real. We saw in the below video that the cocktail is presented in a camtono that opens to reveal multiple shot glasses.

Then I heard details from friends and a bartender elsewhere on the ship (the bartenders cross-train for all the various bars aboard) that the cocktail is more than a cocktail. It includes a trip to Skywalker Vineyards, which is not open to the public, as well as some pricy alcohol. Theme park journalist Arthur Levine heard this information as well and shared the details in About Theme Parks . The $5,000 Star Wars cocktail includes the following:

The galactic beverage is primarily made with Camus cognac. It also includes the Japanese citrus fruit, yuzu, as well as kumquat. Apparently, ritzy cocktails can never have enough cognac, because the Kaiburr Crystal also features Grand Marnier Quintessence, which is considerably pricier than Camus cognac. Speaking of pricey, the bartenders add shots of ultra-expensive Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23 Year bourbon and Taylor’s Fladgate Kingsman Edition Very Old Tawny Port.

Guests ordering the Kaiburr Crystal also get a bottle of Skywalker Vineyards wine delivered to their room. Plus, they receive a trip to Skywalker Vineyards. We don’t know how many people the trip covers. Skywalker Vineyard is located within George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch property in Marin County, California. We also don’t yet know how booking that trip works. I also heard from a bartender that ordering the $5,000 Star Wars cocktail comes with a character moment with stormtroopers , but I haven’t been able to verify that.

I’ve reached out to confirm details, but Disney declined to make an official statement on the Kaiburr Crystal cocktail.

Disney Wish Tour: The Images That Will Leave You Breathless

Disney Cruise Line recently announced details on its newest ship,  Disney Wish.  When it debuts in 2022, it will be ten years since Disney came out with a new ship — with Disney Fantasy  having arrived onto the scene in 2012.

In the spirit of showcasing some of the beautiful renderings that Disney Cruise Line has provided all in one place, we thought we’d put together this tour of some things we know about  Disney Wish  so far.

First, we’ll start with a classic exterior aerial image. As is the case with all of Disney’s vessels,  Wish  will feature a classic ocean liner-esque black exterior, with red and yellow accents a la Mickey Mouse.

Did you know that before Disney Cruise Line launched, it had to ask special permission from the Coast Guard to use yellow lifeboats instead of the standard orange? That was to keep with the Mickey Mouse color palette. Thankfully, the Coast Guard said yes!

Next, let’s move onto a rendering that you’ve probably already seen before, as it’s one of the very first images Disney released of the ship! But in case you haven’t, here’s the Grand Hall atrium. The best part in my opinion? A secret slide with a hidden door can be found here, and it’ll lead straight down into the kids-only area called Oceaneer Club.

Speaking of Oceaneer Club, let’s take a look at the themed spaces that will be found there. Up first is the Fairytale Hall. There, kids can do art projects at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read in Belle’s Library, and unlock their icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.

Another space in the club will be Marvel Super Hero Academy, where young recruits can train to be the next generation of Super Heroes.

Last, but certainly not least in the Oceaneer Club (in fact, this is probably my favorite and I wish I was a kid again to experience it!) is the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab. There, kids will discover the secrets of Disney Imagineers through hands-on activities and experiments. Kids will even be able to create their own rollercoaster through the Ride Studio, then hop into a ride vehicle to virtually experience their creation.

Let’s move onto the main dining rooms aboard  Disney Wish.  Like the other ships in the fleet,  Wish  will feature rotational dining, meaning guests will be on a rotating schedule that allows them to experience all three main restaurants throughout the cruise.

First up is 1923, an elegant venue named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded. The space will combine classic Hollywood glamour with a dash of Disney whimsy, and feature over 1,000 drawings, props, and other tools of the trade that provide an inside look at the evolution of Disney animation.

Another main restaurant will be Arendelle, a Frozen Dining Adventure. Here, guests will be invited to attend a royal party celebrating the engagement of Queen Anna and Kristoff, and enjoy live musical performances as well as activities at the table.

Lastly, Worlds of Marvel will be what Disney describes as a “cinematic dining adventure,” where passengers will play a role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around them. The restaurant will take patrons on a flavorful tour of the real and fictional settings of the Marvel universe, with dishes inspired by African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia, and the Avengers’ home base of New York City.

Disney Cruise Line’s popular AquaDuck water coaster will be getting an upgrade onboard  Disney Wish,  and be called AquaMouse. The fun upper deck attraction will include its own storyline called “Port Misadventures,” told through show scenes as well as lighting and audio effects. At the coaster’s conclusion, riders will be treated to a sweet sendoff message from Minnie and Mickey.

Now let’s take a look at a great spot to relax on the ship. The adults-only Quiet Cove sundeck area will feature an infinity pool for the first time on  Disney Wish.  And as before, the space will also include the popular Cove Bar and a redesigned Cove Café.

Staterooms on  Wish  will feature an updated color palette while still offering features that families love including the pull-out couches, pull-down beds, and privacy curtains. 70 percent of the cabins will include balconies, and many will also include the very-popular split bathroom concept — where one side has a toilet and sink, and the other has a shower and sink.

Cabins will also feature stunning murals that capture the essence of Disney stories both classic and contemporary.

Now that we’ve talked about standard cabins, it’s time to discuss the most luxurious accommodation on the entire vessel — the Disney Wish Tower suite. This nearly 2,000 square foot suite has been inspired by Moana, and will feature a children’s room, a library, two bedrooms, and a whopping 4.5 bathrooms. And get this — it will be in the ship’s forward funnel. Yes, you read that right! Below are two gorgeous renderings of the space.

Moving into some bars, one of the coolest things that’s been announced about this ship so far has to be the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge. It is set on a spaceship, and a large screen behind the bar acts as a window so you can see where you are. Throughout the day, the spaceship visits various planets, and you’ll even see some familiar space vehicles fly by along the way. The experience will be amplified by surround-sound audio and a holotube that presents holographic models of nearby ships.

And of course, the bar will offer tasting experiences and cocktails inspired by the world of Star Wars.

As an introduction to both of the specialty restaurants on  Disney Wish  (or as a spot for an after-dinner cocktail), passengers can head to The Rose. This bar, as well as the two specialty restaurants onboard, are all inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Knowing that, the inspiration behind The Rose is quite obvious given its name. The venue will feature high-end wines and liquors as well as light bites.

The first specialty restaurant will be Enchanté, the most luxurious dining experience on the ship. The intimate venue will evoke the dazzling candlelight and lavish hospitality of Beauty and the Beast’s candelabra maitre d’, Lumiere. The menu will feature high-quality and seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world to create a menu of exceptional international dishes.

The other specialty restaurant will be a spin on a favorite Disney Cruise Line venue — Palo.  Disney Wish ‘s version will be called Palo Steakhouse, combining the sophistication of authentic Italian dining with the refinement of a modern steakhouse. The elegant setting was inspired by the film’s enchanted clock, Cogsworth.

Lastly, let’s head over to the Walt Disney Theatre — the space where such shows as Disney’s Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular will be performed. The elegant, 1,274-seat space was designed to be reminiscent of an enchanted forest, and will span three decks with orchestra and balcony seating.

Well, that’s it! We hope you enjoyed this tour of what Disney Cruise Line has revealed about  Disney Wish  so far!

There's a $5,000 'Star Wars' drink on Disney's new cruise ship — but its contents are a mystery

Summer Hull

Like Boba Fett searching the galaxy for fugitives with huge bounties on their heads, once I caught wind of a rumored $5,000 "Star Wars"-themed drink on the new Disney Wish cruise ship, I went on the hunt. I've experienced the $5,000-per-stay "Star Wars" hotel , so I had to know if there was truth to this smokey liquid rumor.

I deduced the most likely spot for the drink was at the "Star Wars"-themed bar on Disney Cruise Line 's newest ship. I quickly learned that the Hyperspace Lounge was unquestionably the hottest spot on Disney Wish .

I waited 90 minutes to get in last night and see if I could find signs of a $5,000 cocktail.

And if it were real — would it be made of space dust? Would it come with gems from another world that you get to keep?

I was one of the lucky ones that eventually got inside the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge a few strokes before midnight. Was there a $5,000 drink on the menu? Here's what I found.

The $5,000 'Star Wars' drink on Disney Wish

star wars bar cruise ship

Just before the space bar made another jump through hyperspace, I bellied up to the bar, ordered a normally priced drink and asked the bartender if the lounge's menu actually contained a $5,000 drink. With a sly smile, he confirmed the rumor was true.

star wars bar cruise ship

Indeed, if you keep scrolling down the menu past the cocktails and zero-proof drinks, there it is. The Kaiburr Crystal rings up at a cool $5,000.

Its description is frustratingly vague, as the menu merely says it's "the galaxy's rarest and [most] valuable cocktail." That's not much to go on when you're about to spend more on a drink than on an entire Disney cruise in an inside cabin.

I would need some serious Jedi mind tricks to uncover just what was inside — or came with — the otherwise nondescript drink.

It's not just a drink — it's an experience

star wars bar cruise ship

While I know that the Kaiburr Crystal is an actual drink (or maybe three?), I wasn't able to use any Jedi skills to learn what the drinks actually contain — though I was told they are "amazing."

What I did learn is that the pricy cocktail is "not just a drink." A Hyperspace bartender told me emphatically and excitedly that it is an experience. A wild (and expensive) experience.

I heard something about codes or puzzles involved to open the box the drink is served in. I spotted what might be the magical drink box in the corner — and even saw Disney Imagineers testing the box with some smoke the day before, while the bar was still closed.

But it's not just a smoke and box presentation. I also heard rumors that actual Stormtroopers might be involved when the drink is ordered.

While that was the end of what I could glean about the $5,000 drink on Disney Wish from my time at Hyperspace Lounge, I got a strong impression that there's more to the drink experience than the whispers I managed to hear.

In the meantime, I thoroughly enjoyed the $15 - $20 cocktails on the menu (some of which also include smoke).

Bottom line

star wars bar cruise ship

The $5,000 "Star Wars" drink on Disney Wish is real.

What exactly it's made of — and, more importantly, what happens if you order it — is still a bit of a Mustafarian mystery. Word is that no one has actually ordered it yet, but I'll have my datapad, er phone, ready to capture what space chaos ensues if someone does take the leap and plunk down a credit card ready to earn a ton of "space credits" on the purchase.
