5-Star Sightseeing Tours in Sintra & Beyond

We booked this tour as an afterthought because someone told us that Sintra should not be missed on a trip to Lisbon. They were correct, and Jose was a great guide. We made several stops on the way to Sintra, and Jose never rushed us.

I was so pleased with the tour. Our driver was outstanding, knowledgeable, friendly, safety-conscious, and had great sense of humor. I will highly recommend your company to those who inquire as you exceeded all expectations.

Have a good breakfast and get ready for a non-stop day. Jose was high energy, super knowledgeable, and an excellent driver. We saw everything promised and more. Jose was great about keeping us on time so we could make some unexpected stops on the way back to our hotel late in the day which was a wonderful bonus. Highly recommend this tour with Jose.

This was a great trip to Sintra which accomodated our half day timing. You really need a full day to do everything. We got to see the outsides of most of the main palaces. We managed to tour the Regalaira which was fascinating with its gardens and alcoves. Unfortunately no time for the Pena Palace.

Tour today was wonderful!! Andre was very informative and shared so much good information not only about the tour sites but was very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal and its popular sites. He also gave us recommendations on restaurants and things not to miss while we are here, a very good day!!

Ken. M | Feb. 2022

Tripadvisor.

Loved everything about this tour, my only regret was that I didn’t book it earlier in the week and that we didn’t book our other tours with this company. Andre was a fantastic guide, he was able to give us an overview of the history of everywhere we went but we were also given enough time to independently visit the palaces, gardens and small towns included in this tour. Sintra is a magical place that was made even better for us by the great food recommendations from Andre. I highly recommend this tour. Do it early in your visit and listen to any recommendations you get, we visited a couple of restaurants in Lisbon based on our guides recommendations and they were fabulous. The current climate makes it necessary to note that all covid regulations were followed. The vehicle we were in was large, masks were used at all times and hand sanitiser was in evidence in the vehicle and freely available for our use at all times.

Kaima M. | July 2021

I highly recommend Andre! He was personable and knowledgeable. You can tell that he actually enjoys what he does. The tour was jampacked with must-see attractions and monuments, especially for a first-time visitor like myself. Not only was he very accommodating, he was so helpful, answering any questions we had and also making many recommendations or suggestions outside of the scope of the tour. I am so thankful I booked!

Adam R. | Mar. 2019

Filipa was our guide and she was nothing short of phenomenal. Tour was excellent and she pointed us towards excellent food spots multiple times. Probably the best tour of our two week vacation. Also a great way to see multiple spots near Lisbon in a single day.

6. Pena Palace, Cascais, and Natural Park Day Tour

Sintra National Palace

On this six-hour morning tour, guests can opt to explore a number of the city’s most prominent symbols, like the Moorish Castle, the National Palace, or the Convent of the Capuchos before heading into the hinterlands.

The Sintra Natural Park offers a variety of scenic gems that include impressive boulder fields, sweeping ocean views from the continent’s westernmost location, and the rugged landscape of Cabo da Roca.

Tours begin and end in Sintra and include a relaxing lunch in a traditional restaurant.

7. The Inquisition’s Hand Private Walking Tour at Night

Sintra at Night

The Inquisition was a particularly dark time in the history of Spain, and according to historians, thousands of residents lost their lives in purges designed to uphold the country’s Catholic traditions.

Thankfully, those days are long gone, but there are a number of attractions in Sintra that are tied to events from the 15th century.

This private night walking tour begins in Sintra’s historic center and includes the services of a local guide-historian, who’ll take guests to relatively obscure corners of the city and regale them with fascinating tales of life back then.

Highlights include the Pena, Royal, and Seteais palaces.

8. All Monuments and Cabo da Roca Self-Drive Tour

Cabo da Roca

Regardless of whether you’ve got just a few hours or a whole day to spare, this self-drive tour from Sintra would be a great way to see the Portuguese countryside at your own speed.

Before the tour begins, guests can plan their route and the things that they want to see, so when they get their electric car, they can set out without wasting valuable time.

From historic villages and impressive monuments to castles, palaces, and large tracts of undeveloped coastline along Cabo da Roca, there are options for participants of nearly all stripes.

Tours meet at a central location and include an overview of local driving laws and a tutorial on how to operate their e-car.

9. Sintra Half-Day Trekking Tour

Sintra Trekking Tour

There’s definitely no shortage of activity options in and around Sintra for those who value physical exertion as much as they do sightseeing and cultural immersion.

This half-day trekking tour begins at the National Palace, where guests will rendezvous with their guide and get an overview of the day’s events.

After a casual walk around the park, trekkers will pass several key attractions, like the Palacio da Pena, Sintra Castle, and the National Palace.

Along the way, you’ll benefit from your guide’s interesting insights and have ample time to take photos, ask questions, and relax at a café with a traditional pastry and cup of coffee.

10. Private Half Day-Tour of Key Highlights

Guincho Beach

The stretch of coastline between Sintra and Cascais is one of the most scenic areas on the coast and features an impressive array of historic attractions and amazing views of rivers, the ocean, and the cliffs just inland.

Guincho Beach is popular with wind, kite, and body surfers. It is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, where the bulk of the tour will take place.

Along with their guide, guests will visit palaces, castles, and a number of vista points, as well as sample traditional Portuguese food in a quaint village.

Tours can begin and end in either Sintra or Lisbon and include round-trip transportation.

11. Sintra Full-Day Road Bike Tour

Sintra Road Bike Tour

The hills and winding roads leading out of Sintra along the coast are perfect for bikers intent on seeing things from a street-level perspective.

After meeting their guide at the train station in central Sintra, energetic bikers will head toward Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, where they’ll get up close and personal with Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, and some of the most stunning scenery in the region.

Tours include a nice mix of hilly and flat terrain, picturesque villages, undeveloped natural areas, and a visit to Cape Roca—the westernmost tip of the European continent.

12. Guided Sightseeing Tour by Tuk-Tuk

Tuk-tuk in the old town of Sintra

Sintra’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site means that lovers of history and culture can spend days exploring and never run out of new attractions to see.

Though walking, biking, and bus tours are plentiful, many guests agree that seeing the city by tuk-tuk is definitely the way to go.

Tours meet at a convenient central location and include stops at many of Sintra’s most impressive historic sites that include castles and palaces featuring Egyptian, Moorish, and Renaissance architectural influences.

Two-hour tuk-tuk tours include the services of a local guide and are available in multiple start times and four languages.

13. Legends and Medieval Stories Private Walking Tour

The Castle of the Moors

Not every tour of Sintra includes the services of a guide who’s also a historian; that’s exactly what makes this legends and medieval stories private walking excursion such great value.

Starting in the city’s historic center, participants will set out to explore Sintra’s history and culture while hearing interesting and obscure tales of intrigue, war, corruption, and long-standing family feuds from their chaperone.

14. 2-Hour Private Surf Lesson at Praia Grande

Beach of Praia Grande

For those who’ve never climbed onto a board and hit the waves, learning to surf may seem a bit intimidating.

Though it’s not something that can be mastered in just a few hours, this private surf lesson experience offers participants of most ages and levels of physical ability the chance to get up to speed relatively quickly.

Everyone will get a board and wetsuit and be paired with an experienced and patient instructor, who’ll give them an overview of basic safety and surfing techniques before taking to the water.

Tours meet at a convenient location, take place at Praia Grande, and are laid back and stress-free.

15. Sintra Life and Death at the Capuchos Convent Guided Tour

Capuchos Convent

For those who prefer to sleep in and spend the morning relaxing before taking in Sintra’s sites, this early afternoon guided tour of the Capuchos Convent would be a great fit.

Located in the Sintra Mountains, the convent is steeped in history, legend, and lore, and many guests are surprised to learn that it was far from an idyllic setting where dedicated monks prayed, mediated, and worked for the good of the common man.

The convent’s history stretches back centuries, and the tour features both in and outdoor portions.

Tours last about five hours in total, three of which will be spent on-site before guests are returned to the original starting point in town.

Subject to change. Updated November 17, 2023.

November 13, Thursday Day 1:

Welcome to Lisbon, and the start of your Portugal small group tours. I’ll pick you up at the airport and take you to our hotel. Your room will be ready when you get there if you wanna take a nap or freshen up. The rest of the day is all yours.

Meet in the lobby of the hotel to go over to our Welcome Dinner! We’ll be enjoying a traditional Fado performance with our dinner. Fado is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list and is something not to be missed when you’re visiting Portugal.

November 14, Friday Day 2:

After breakfast (which is included all week), I’ll be giving a walking/tram tour that will include a tour of the Castle of St. George.

Audio guides will be included where they are available. We’ll also be able to check out the Santa Justa Lift.

In the evening, we’ll be heading out on a Food and Wine Walking Tour! The best way to experience a new place is through their food!

November 15, Saturday Day 3:

Today we head out of Lisbon on a day trip to Sintra, Pena Palace and Cabo da Roca!

“Find the colorful Pena Palace hidden behind the tallest trees of Sintra! This unique masterpiece seems to make all the fairytales come true. Allow yourself to wander around the palace’s yards and gardens and take the chance to explore its lavish chambers.

Next, head over to the center of Sintra and get time to wander on your own. Take recommendations of the city’s must-see locations as well as the best restaurant options for delicious traditional Portuguese dining from your guide. Find Sintra’s local flavors where time slows, and every corner reveals a slice of the town’s magnificent gastronomy. Immerse yourself in the town’s romanticism as you explore its cobblestone and picturesque squares.

Continue to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Continental Europe and amaze yourself with the impressive views of the ocean crashing against the high rocky cliffs. Enjoy the harmony between the sound of the waves and the fresh breeze, where “earth ends, and the sea begins”. Allow yourself to be embraced by the Portuguese Riviera, while enjoying a short walking tour around the charming Cascais.”

November 16, Sunday Day 4:

After breakfast this morning, I’ll be taking you on quick tram trip to Belem! We’ll be able to see the Jerónimos Monastery, the Belem Tower and most importantly taste the famous Pasteis de Belem!

You’ll have the evening free any last-minute site seeing or shopping you have on your list as our final day will be full to the brim with a very exciting day trip!

November 17, Monday Day 5:

On our final day, we’ll be venturing further into Portugal on a day trip to Fatima, Batalha, Nazare and Obidos!

“Follow in the footsteps of Catholic pilgrims on a full-day sightseeing tour of Central Portugal from Lisbon. Transfer from the Portuguese capital, and drive through a vast variety of landscapes on your way to the towns of Fátima, Nazaré, and Óbidos.

Travel in an air-conditioned van to the extraordinary town of Fátima, where an apparition of the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared before 3 children every month between May 1917 and October 1917. Visit one of the major shrines of the Catholic faith, a complex that contains the tombs of 2 of the young shepherd children, the crown of the Virgin in the Chapel of the Apparitions, and a section of the Berlin Wall. Buy lunch in a local restaurant far from the tourist crowds and taste authentic Portuguese food.

Continue to the fishing port of Nazaré for panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Popular with surfers, Nazaré was where Garrett McNamara surfed a 79-foot wave. Finally, tour the picturesque town of Óbidos, taken from the Muslims in 1148. Forming part of the dowry of numerous Portuguese queens, Óbidos maintains its medieval feel inside the old city walls, with cobblestone streets and flower-bedecked houses.

After our day trip, we’ll go to our Farewell Dinner, where we can exchange stories, pictures and enjoy each other’s company for one final night.

November 18, Tuesday Day 6:

Sadly, we will all go our separate ways today but I’ll get you back to the airport so you can start your trip home.

Safe travels as you head home! Until we meet again!

PGA TOUR taps Andy Weitz for new role leading marketing, communications, investor relations

Andy Weitz announced as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer and Executive Vice President, Investor Relations, for the PGA TOUR’s global operations.

Andy Weitz announced as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer and Executive Vice President, Investor Relations, for the PGA TOUR’s global operations.

Former Aon CMO brings more than 20 years of global public affairs, marketing expertise to the PGA TOUR

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida – The PGA TOUR today announced that Andy Weitz has been named Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and Executive Vice President, Investor Relations, for the TOUR’s global operations. In the role, Weitz will be responsible for positioning the PGA TOUR brand for current and future investment while communicating its global strategy and performance to the TOUR’s stakeholders and beyond.

“As our business continues to evolve and grow, Andy will be an invaluable addition to the PGA TOUR given his experience as a trusted advisor to many of the world’s largest and most influential companies,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “With his track record of helping global companies tell their stories and engage their stakeholders, as well as his deep knowledge of the business community, Andy will be instrumental in further elevating the PGA TOUR brand and helping our organization grow.”

In addition to overseeing marketing and communications for the PGA TOUR, Weitz will take on a newly created investor relations role that is responsible for developing messaging and communicating strategy for PGA TOUR Enterprises, a for-profit subsidiary of PGA TOUR, Inc., incorporated earlier this year. In January, the Strategic Sports Group (SSG) made an initial investment of $1.5 billion – with up to $3 billion available – into the new commercial venture, and this funding will allow the PGA TOUR to make significant strategic investments to enhance the PGA TOUR experience for fans and players, and benefitting tournaments, sponsors and other constituents.

“With the launch of PGA TOUR Enterprises and the investment made by SSG, the PGA TOUR’s business has grown significantly in value, opportunity and complexity,” said Joe Gorder, PGA TOUR Enterprises board chairman. “This new role is important to the PGA TOUR’s ability to successfully execute its strategy and deliver an engaging, satisfying future product for fans.”

“In our search, Andy’s experience and clear ability to use a mix of techniques to reach and engage everyone from Main Street consumers to Wall Street investors stood out,” said Ed Herlihy, PGA TOUR Policy Board chairman. “I am confident Andy will contribute enormously to the organization’s future success.”

Weitz comes to the PGA TOUR following a decade at Aon plc, where he most recently served as chief marketing officer for the global professional services firm. During his tenure at Aon, Weitz led the integration of the worldwide marketing and communications team and the unification of its global brand strategy, including a rationalization of its sponsorship portfolio, which included properties across Premier League football, Formula One racing, Major League Baseball, the National Football League and international rugby. While at Aon, Weitz was also responsible for leading the firm’s widely recognized brand building efforts, especially advancements in its use of digital strategies to engage the firm’s colleagues, clients and investors.

In 2019, Aon established an Official Marketing Partnership with the PGA TOUR, beginning with the award-winning “Aon Risk Reward Challenge” that launched simultaneously on the LPGA Tour and was the first program to offer equal prize money to winners on the men’s and women’s tours. At that time, Aon also became a worldwide partner of the Ryder Cup and introduced the “Nicklaus/Jacklin Award presented by Aon,” which recognizes the player that best represents the spirit of each Ryder Cup competition. More recently, Aon evolved its PGA TOUR relationship to include naming rights to the new eligibility paths for Signature Events, known as the Aon Next 10 and the Aon Swing 5, and transitioned the Aon Risk Reward Challenge into “Aon Better Decision Breakdowns” to emphasize the use of real-time data during in-telecast segments to analyze player decisions. In parallel, the firm has continued its successful Aon Risk Reward Challenge program with the LPGA.

“I’ve seen the power of the PGA TOUR brand firsthand, as both a fan and a partner, and am truly excited to play a role in growing its global impact at this transformative moment,” Weitz said. “As the organization evolves, it’s critical that we stay focused on fan priorities, aligned with player interests and accountable to partner and investor expectations. I’m looking forward to listening to and learning from all our stakeholders.”

Prior to joining Aon in 2014, Weitz was U.S. president and chief executive officer of Hill+Knowlton Strategies, a leading global strategic communications consultancy in the WPP portfolio. While there, he also served as chief operating officer of the U.S. region and as vice-chair of the global Corporate Advisory Practice, which included the financial, internal, corporate communications and public affairs practices of the global firm.

Weitz holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Weitz and his family will relocate to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, this summer, and formally begin his work with the PGA TOUR in mid-August.

The PGA TOUR thanks its partners at Korn Ferry for the successful completion of this important executive search.

So long, London.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift left her third and final Eras Tour show in London hand in hand, as seen in a fan video .

The Kansas City Chiefs player, 34, was spotted waiting for the pop star in an all-white outfit and a bucket hat as she chatted with someone on Sunday.

After wrapping up her conversation, Swift stepped into frame in a pink dress and heels, reaching for her partner’s hand as they walked down a ramp.

“THEY ARE DRESSED NICE WHERE ARE THEY GOING?!” one X user asked.

Another gushed , “going on a date after a 3+ hour show?! and they say love is dead.”

Taylor Swift

Swift, also 34, kicked off her England performances on Friday and rolled right into another show on Saturday.

Kelce was spotted at Wembley Stadium for all three concerts, even making a surprise onstage appearance for the final show.

He joined two of her backup dancers during the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” transition, fanning himself during the songwriter’s subsequent wardrobe change.

Swift will have a few days off before hitting the stage in Dublin next week.

The couple stayed in a luxurious private villa , which cost $21,000 per night, and he filmed his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast from somewhere “in Europe.”

The tight end gushed about Swift’s “unbelievable” skills while urging listeners to catch her upcoming tour stops.

“It has her new ‘Tortured Poets Department,’ a handful of those songs in the new show, which means  there’s a new segment , new lights, new dancing and everything,” Travis said at the time. “I enjoyed every bit of it.”

The three-time Super Bowl winner hadn’t met Swift when he first attended an Eras Tour show in Missouri in July 2023 — although he did try to give her his phone number on a friendship bracelet.

While he was “disappointed” Swift didn’t talk to him at the time, news broke two months later that the duo were dating .

When the “Catching Kelce” alum next attended one of her shows in Buenos Aires in November 2023, the couple were caught on camera embracing and kissing .

He has since watched Swift perform in Singapore and Sydney, showing PDA both times.
