Check What our delighted customers are saying about our services

We have just arrived at our next destination in Thailand, and our Malaysian friends have arrived back home in Penang.

Thank you so much for all the arrangements, which was initiated over 4 years ago and disrupted by the outbreak of Covid 19. I am especially thankful that you have accepted my frequent request to add additional participants which eventually increased from 2 to 4 to 6 and finally to 7.

The tour itinerary was very comprehensive covering not just Tibet itself but also the two cities where Tibetans have strong influence, namely Xining and Shangri-La.

The only regret we have is not being able to take the train from Xining to Lhasa as this was to be one of the highlights of this trip, but the flight between these two cities was an excellent one with a beautiful view of the snow capped mountains.

I would certainly recommend China Discovery to anyone who would wish to visit China, especially the Tibetan region.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Tibet Tour

Thank you for the arrangement last time, my family had great times.

Apologies for my delay in responding. We only came home last week and have been busy with work getting back up to date.

We had a fantastic tour. David was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable about the area and responsive to our needs. He helped us with recommendations for food and shopping and we really enjoyed his company for the 8 days. He knew when to give us information about the area and also when to give us some space and quiet to enjoy the views.

The itinerary suited everything we were looking for. David also adapted it to the weather for the best views and experiences and arranged extra stops, at our request. We couldn't have asked for a better tour or guide. The driver and car was also excellent, very clean and comfortable. The hotels met our expectations and were really well located. Overall the tour exceeded our expectations and I would be happy to share my experiences anywhere you would like me to. I'll send on some photos separately this weekend that you can use as you wish.

In terms of any suggestions, it is just to give some extra information before your guests travel, as many things are quite different in China than in Europe or the USA. I suggest giving the following advices to clients when they book the tour:

• Bring a small backpack to carry snacks and water each day.

• There are limited food options within the national park, so you may wish to bring some favourite snacks from home. You can purchase snacks in the local town, however they may not suit your taste so it is good to have some familiar snacks to hand. Some fruit, chocolate, crisps and nuts are available locally.

• You will walk quite a bit during the trip (including steps), so make sure you have good walking shoes with you.

• Hotel rooms typically do not have travel safes in them, so be prepared to carry your cash/ valuables with you each day.

• Coffee is not popular in this region of China. There may be days that coffee is not available. We suggest bringing some coffee sachets with you if this poses a difficulty for you.

• We suggest to download the 'WeChat' app before travelling to China to communicate with your guide. WhatsApp, Google, Instagram, Facebook and many other apps and websites do not work in China.

• We recommend having some local currency with you for purchases in rural villages, as not all accept card payments or your card may not work as it does at home.

The final recommendation I would give is to include the fox fairy show and Huanglong cave in itineraries. Both were amazing and unlike anything we had seen before. Also on the coffee piece, Europeans drink a lot of coffee. In Furong there was nowhere in the old or new town to get coffee in the morning. It might be an idea for the guide to have some coffee that they could give to the tourists to make their own.

I hope that has been helpful and thank you again for making this trip one that we will never forget. I'll send the photos in a few days.

We have ended our private tour today with you. Thank you so much for the wonderful arrangement.

All the 3 drivers and guide are very experienced and knowledgeable. We really get a deep understanding of Xi’an, Chengdu and Chongqing.

Feedback as below:

Leo was the fastest to reply. Efficient, patient and very responsive. He is very hard working!

Tour arrangements went smoothly. We appreciate the suggestions and the itinerary.

Definityly! 100% would recommend your service to our people.

The reviews online were exactly what we had experienced. If I were to travel China (Yunnan), I would like move off the beaten tours not major tourist attractions.

High-tech tours in NYC

Smartphone scavenger hunt adventure.

Tap into your competitive side for an Amazing Race -style scavenger hunt through Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Just grab your team, open the app on your phone and get ready to compete. You’ll have to crack clues, complete challenges and listen carefully to the instructions in order to follow the route through some of Midtown’s most famous landmarks. Once the final score has been tallied, you’ll be able to see where you stand on the city leaderboard.

Grand Central Audio Tour

Grand Central Audio Tour

Yes, audio tours are nothing new. This one really does revolutionize the way you experience the space, though. Grand Central Terminal typically feels crowded, overwhelming and overwhelmingly loud, thanks to all the travelers rushing between platforms. But once you put on a headset and press play on this audio tour, all that disappears. You’re free to learn about the station’s history, take in the Beaux Arts architecture in all its splendor and even discover a few little-known secrets.

Official Central Park App

Official Central Park App

  • Things to do
  • Walks and tours

There’s nothing better than getting a tour from a local—especially if that local just so happens to be a world-renowned celebrity. Download the Official Central Park App to hear Scarlett Johansson, Matthew Broderick, Whoopi Goldberg and other A-listers wax poetic about their favorite spots.

The Downtown Experience Powered by The Ride

Instead of the typical double-decker model, The Ride uses a $1.5 million coach with floor-to-ceiling windows, outward-facing stadium seating and flashing LED lights for all of its tours. It’s new Downtown Experience tour also adds VR technology from Timelooper to the mix. When your guides point out landmarks like Federal Hall, you can pull up the goggles for a 360-degree, full-scale reenactment of historical events. The tour also includes two live performances along the route, as if you needed any more entertainment.

American Museum of Natural History Explorer App

American Museum of Natural History Explorer App

  • Science and technology
  • Upper West Side

The American Museum of Natural History actually has nine separate apps, but the Explorer app is by far the most useful. It works just like your very own private tour guide: Select the topics that interest you most, and the app will curate a list of exhibits to visit and give you turn-by-turn directions. As you walk through the museum, you ’ ll discover more interactive quizzes and games, behind-the-scenes information and augmented reality technology that allows you to interact with the displays.

Passing Stranger

Passing Stranger

The East Village’s bohemian history as a hotbed of poetry, music and art comes to life in this free, downloadable MP3 tour created by poet, writer and radio producer Pejk Malinovski. The 95-minute tour covers about two miles of the neighborhood and includes stops at Tompkins Square Park and W.H. Auden’s former apartment building. Along the way, you’ll hear readings of poems, archival material and even interviews with local poets.

The Two Percent Tours

The Two Percent Tours

Both of the experiences offered at The Two Percent Tours— Audio Hop and Crash —rely on radio technology to give you a brand-new look at the New York City art scene. Groups of five to 10 people will want to sign up for Audio Hop. After some introductions and background information, you’ll don wireless transmitters and head inside a gallery or museum. The gadgets allow you to spread out and wander while still catching every word your guide says through the earbuds. Crash is a little more intense: Ticketed guests only receive the location and an audio file the night before, and enter the building one minute apart to stay completely undercover. You all experience the very same audio tour, just in quick succession. Past locations include Christie ’ s, the Museum of Modern Art and the Dia Art Foundation.

Aerial Photography Workshop in an Open-Door Helicopter

Amateur shutterbugs will geek out over this photography workshop–sightseeing tour combo that takes place high above the Manhattan skyline. A professional aerial photographer will teach you the basics of shooting from above, including camera settings, angles and lenses. You’re practically guaranteed to shoot some once-in-a-lifetime images of landmarks like Central Park, the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge out the door of your chopper.

  • Japan – A Technological Tour

Since at least the 1960s, Japan has been synonymous with technology. In the ensuing decades, the country’s international reputation for electronics, the automotive industry and robotics has grown exponentially. Japan has some of the biggest electronics conglomerates in the world, some of the most cutting-edge innovations and has more Nobel laureates in science than any other Asian country.

So if you’re a tech-lover saving for a holiday, there’s really nowhere like it as a destination. Here’s our guide to some of the best Japanese tech territories and experiences to plan a trip around.

high tech tour

Tokyo’s renowned technology district feels like Blade Runner at night—but, regardless of the time of day, its reputation for gadgets and sensory overload is well-deserved.

You can go to Yodobashi megastore to buy pretty much any gadget that exists—from phones to cameras to computers to any of their related accessories; you can go to SEGA for level upon level of amazing arcade games, old and new, where you might be compelled to stay for hours; you can duck down any of the alleys with electronic stalls and hawkers filled with obscure, specialised products, some of which you might not find anywhere else.

high tech tour

About an hour northeast of Akihabara by train is  Tsukuba , known as the Science City. Nearly half of Japan’s research and development budget is spent here, and you don’t even have to go too far to see the results.

Among the premier attractions of the town is  Tsukuba Space Center , where you can see exhibitions and take tours related to recent astronomical research and Japan’s role on the International Space Station.

But there’s plenty more – for example  Tsukuba Expo Center , which focuses on rockets, robotics and submarine vehicles but also has a terrific planetarium and a well-known robot in the foyer who plays an organ. There’s also Science Square, where the emphasis is on industrial technology and a truly fascinating glimpse into what the near future  might  be like, based on the rate of technological innovation at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (or AIST).

It’s thrilling stuff, and makes for a fine day trip from Tokyo.

Elsewhere in Tokyo

high tech tour

There are many other technological attractions in Japan’s lively capital. For example, you can visit Odaiba, an artificial island that contains the  Miraikan National Science Museum .

Here you can see and interact with ASIMO, the famous Honda-built humanoid robot whose name stands for ‘Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility’. He resembles a small man in a space suit and is about as mobile as one, with skills in running, jumping, object recognition, memory, conversation and now bottle-opening. As well as his entertainment value, ASIMO represents a tremendous (and increasing) leap forward in robotics engineering and even the caring industry.

Elsewhere in the Miraikan, you can see android exhibitions and seize countless opportunities to interact with robots of different sizes and functions – highly recommended, and occasionally surreal.

high tech tour

Of course, no technology tour of Tokyo would be complete without a booking at the  Robot Restaurant  in Shinjuku, where you can witness colourful and gleefully entertaining robotic carnage in what is essentially a super-energetic interactive robot floor show; the price tag may seem hefty, but you’re unlikely to think so after you witness it!

But if you’re after a truly thought-provoking experience you should head to  Ruriden   columbarium , a digital cemetery operated by Koukoko-ji Buddhist Temple. It’s home to over 2000 digital funereal altars, marked by glass Buddha statues – an intriguing glimpse into yet another possible future.

Henn-na Hotel

high tech tour

Finally, if you’re travelling Japan by Shinkansen (itself a technological wonder!) and end up on the western island of Kyushu, it’s essential to visit  Sasebo in Nagasaki Prefecture . Here, Henn-na Hotel – a pun on ‘Strange Hotel’ – made international headlines as the world’s first guesthouse run by robots.

The robots at reception, which include a velociraptor, are all multilingual and efficient; the storage room is operated by a mechanical arm; and the business has dispensed with room keys, opting instead for facial recognition. All rooms are equipped with an AI-driven concierge unit named Tapia who performs tasks according to spoken commands, and while a few human employees are on-site at all times for emergencies, it’s almost completely an all-robot affair.

A second Henn-na Hotel now exists near Tokyo Disneyland, and another one is slated for Nagoya, but it’s the one in Sasebo that was recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. Whichever you choose, make sure you book in advance – it’s understandably popular!

career tours small

I was just amazed of all the computer science is used to get a package from order to ship...I know a lot of people say that computers are putting people out of jobs, but this tour shows young people that is not true. It helped them to understand the jobs might look different, because humans have to be behind all the technology.
“I struggle to find STEM resources that are actually interesting to kids, that they might connect with and set a goal. I want to motivate them to graduate and have a career because we have a low graduation rate, and I think this tour could be part of a program that leads to that.”
The video was very helpful, informational, and entertaining and I loved learning about how the packages are shipped.
I loved this experience! The videos were descriptive but not too heavy on technical terms, so my students were able to understand without issues. The addition of Kahoot trivia was genius! It kept my students so engaged, and we all learned a ton about Amazon! I also love the added teaching tool- the note catchers!
It was really entertaining actually - I didn’t realize how high tech everything was. My favorite part was the workers actually telling us about themselves it really shows how they are people just like us that we can one day become.
The students absolutely loved this tour! [They] really liked pretending to ride along on the conveyor belts. After, students kept discussing the tour and how much they enjoyed the experience. As a teacher, I appreciate how easy it was to prepare for the lesson.
My kids said things such as “This is so fun!,” “Can we do this more?,” and “I am learning so much! I did not know that!” They had such a great time working together, laughing, communicating, talking with one another and the teachers...The presenters were amazing! It was very engaging and well made!
It was wonderful that you included both students and STEM professionals to make the experience both relatable and inspiring...[There] was so much new vocabulary that was introduced but explained in a way that the students could grasp it. The Alexa technology really got their attention because they use it in many of their homes.

11 Best Tech Conferences and Events You Can’t Miss in 2024

high tech tour

With 2024 now underway in earnest, it’s time to start thinking about ways to turbocharge your business this year. One easy way to do this is by attending tech industry events, which bring many of the latest and greatest innovations together under one roof.

Look in the rearview mirror at CES this January, where things like the new Wi-Fi 7 standard were revealed alongside major developments in AI, and you start to get the idea.

That’s not all. As highlighted by a study commissioned by Skift, the vast majority of businesses say they can benefit from the networking (82%) and learning (71%) opportunities offered by industry showcases.

With all this in mind, we’ve put together a guide to the best tech conferences, events and shows taking place over the next 12 months, spotlighting those coming up first before giving you the essentials of the biggest ones later in 2024.

Best Tech Conference and Events in 2024: January to June Spotlight

Here are the top industry events businesses should add to their calendar this year. We’ve selected these based on over 10 years experience trudging show floors and events from San Francisco and Las Vegas to Seoul and Taiwan.

January Tech Conferences: CES Still Reigns Supreme

Kicking things off every year, the annual Consumer Electronics Showcase (CES) in Las Vegas is the absolute glitziest tech event around. With more than 4,300 exhibitors and 135,000 attendees, the 2024 edition may be in the books but such is the demand around CES that you should already be thinking about booking for CES 2025.

Surfshark logo

Things like hotels and flights only get more expensive as the calendar turns, so with the dates of CES 2025 confirmed as January 7-10, you can get booking. Note that, based on our experience attending previous versions of the show, many announcements will be made before doors open to the public.

With January 7 next year being a Tuesday, you can roughly expect the action – including media and networking events – to get underway at the weekend.

Tickets aren’t yet available, but you can register your interest in CES 2025 to make sure you’re front of the line.

February 2024 Tech Conferences: MWC Steals the Show

GSMA official speaks on stage during MWC keynote, one of the biggest tech conference events

Following hot on the heels of CES, February’s annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is the world’s biggest and most influential mobile tech event. For those who find Vegas too in your face, it’s also the ideal conference to attend, as the Catalan setting means the vibes are way more relaxed than they are on the Strip.

At MWC, it’s all about slipping out to one of the open air terraces at the Fira Gran Via for a small beer and plate of luxe Spanish cold cuts, rather than circumnavigating slot machines and overpriced steak houses.

That’s in addition to the jampacked keynote schedule and vibrant show floor. For businesses in particular, there’s lots that’s relevant, with the overarching theme of connectivity meaning areas like VoIP are well served and there are industry-specific programs for manufacturing, fintech, mobile commerce and more.

In case you couldn’t tell, MWC’s something of a personal favorite when it comes to the annual tech extravaganzas, so act fast and get your pass today. MWC 2024 takes place Monday, February 26 to Thursday, February 29  this year. Again, you’ll find plenty on (and might be even be advised) to arrive the weekend before the main show opens.

March 2024 Tech Conferences: SXSW and London Tech Show

In the US, SXSW in Austin is where the action is this March. From Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 16,  the already buzzy Texan city is taken over by the cultural phenomenon that is SXSW.

A totally unique mix of music, film, the arts, and tech, SXSW (or South by Southwest, for the uninitiated) has spawned dozens of imitations but is yet to be matched, let alone bettered.

To give you an idea of the mix that’s on offer, this year’s keynotes range from The Black Keys to AMD’s CEO Dr Lisa T Su. Yes, really. It’s on our bucket list and should be on yours, too, so register yourself today.

For something more lowkey and strictly B2B focused, the London Tech Show takes place in the UK capital on March 6-7.  As an event, it’s more of an overall umbrella and is “co-located” at the city’s ExCeL Centre with Cloud Expo Europe, Big Data & Ai World, Data Centre World, Cloud & Cyber Security Expo, and more.

Perhaps best of all, it’s free to attend .

April 2024 Tech Conferences: Google Cloud Next and Running Remote

Google sign

If you’re anything like us, chances are at least part of your business relies on Google and its products. That’s why Google’s Cloud Next ’24 conference has practically universal appeal, as so many of us use the web giant’s technology to complete our day-to-day jobs – software like Google Meet being just one example.

Taking place April 9-11 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas , it promises three days worth of keynotes, breakout sessions, and deep dives covering everything from IT security issues to generative AI. As such, we’re excited to see what’s next for Google Bard this year, as it’s already one of the best AI chatbots.

Outside of that, a relatively new conference called Running Remote has us intrigued this April.

As you may know, we’re big advocates or remote and flexible working here at Tech.co Towers. Whether or not you’ve find the fully remote job of your dreams, chances are you could benefit from the event, which takes place April 22-24 in Lisbon.

It’s a lovely time of year to visit the Portuguese capital, which is already a favorite among startups and digital nomads for its favorable government policies and affordable living. Billing itself as the world’s “premier conference” for remote-first and hybrid teams, it’s the one you’re probably most likely to bump into us at, so grab yourself a ticket.

Alternatively (or as well), you can apply for its “workation” program , which is an invite-only affair that can be roughly described as a breakout residential leadership summit. Take a look for yourself and pray to both the old gods and the new, as we’d imagine demand for the still-vacant places will be extremely high.

May 2024 Tech Conferences: Google I/O (TBC), RSA Conference and Dublin Tech Summit

As spring blooms in full, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that May is typically the month when Google holds its annual I/O developer conference.  Because it’s almost always accompanied by some new flagship hardware, specifics of the event are usually kept under wraps until much closer to the time. However, I/O 2023 was held on May 10, to give you an idea. The official I/O website is currently still promoting 2023 highlights, but that’s where to look for the latest info.

In terms of confirmed May 2024 tech conferences, look no further than RSA 2024 in San Francisco , which takes place May 6-9.  It’s one of the world’s most important cybersecurity events and this year is themed around: “The Art of Possible.”

Tickets aren’t cheap but discounted pricing is currently on offer. Assuming you can convince your boss to let you register , get ready for an action-packed three days in sunny San Fran. Last year, RSA welcomed more than 40,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors, featuring no less than 650 speakers across 400 different keynotes.

Lastly, the Dublin Tech Summit takes place May 29-30 and features speakers from big name companies like Microsoft, Logitech, Oculus, Pinterest and many more among its keynote line-up. Tickets are at the relatively affordable end of the spectrum at a few hundred bucks and there’s a dedicated track for startups.

June 2024 Tech Conferences: London Tech Week and WWDC (TBC)

Apple HQ

Perhaps unsurprisingly, summer is when the tech conference calendar really starts filling up. In June this year, that’s going to be somewhat inevitably headlined by Apple’s WWDC , which is the iPad maker’s annual developer shindig.

The dates and final details of WWDC 2024 are still to be confirmed, but last year’s June 5-9 window may well prove instructive. Things normally get under way the first day with a blockbuster keynote, when Apple CEO Tim Cook reveals the newest versions of it software – this year, iOS 18 and macOS 15.

It’s also where we might finally see if the company’s Vision Pro headset is anything more than an overpriced bit of bandwagon jumping, as presently most the apps it’s going to be running look like little more than iPad ports.

Elsewhere this coming June, London Tech Week  takes place across the UK capital from June 10-14  and is expected to feature more than 45,000 participants and over 750 different events. Cobra's new PGA Tour trailer is a high-tech golf center on 18 wheels

W earing a pair of gray golf pants and a blue patterned shirt, and with his hat pulled down low on his forehead, no one stopped Rickie Fowler as he walked on a cart path between the driving range and the third fairway at Quail Hollow Golf Club to ask for his autograph or a selfie. It was the Monday before the start of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship, and no fans were at the course yet, which meant Fowler could leisurely stroll, uninterrupted, to his new home away from home.

That home weighs about 60,000 pounds, has 18 wheels and is packed with some of the most technologically advanced golf equipment and club-building tools on the PGA Tour. It's Cobra-Puma Golf's new PGA Tour trailer, a customized truck that is designed to act as a support center for Cobra staffers like Fowler, Gary Woodland, Justin Suh, Jason Dufner and others.

Cobra brought the truck to the PGA Tour for the first time at the Wells Fargo Championship in May and was thrilled to show it off. With draws filled with driver, fairway wood, hybrid and iron heads, along with the latest shafts, grinding wheels and customizing tools, the company's PGA Tour reps and fitters builders can build clubs steps away from the practice area at tournaments. There is a locker room in the back where players can try on new apparel and footwear, meetings can be held, and VIPs can be shown the latest gear.

Golfweek was given an exclusive tour of Cobra's new trailer and spoke with the team tasked with keeping Fowler and his stablemates happy and ready to contend at the highest level. This video takes you behind the scenes and shows you the level of detail and the thought that goes into creating a world-class golf equipment facility on wheels.

The futuristic 165,000-square-foot media facility — home to the largest golf footage library in the world — will house all PGA TOUR Media operations, including live production for PGA TOUR LIVE, PGA TOUR Champions and Korn Ferry Tour, as well as the social media, digital operations and international media.

I visited Ride1Up’s e-bike factory to find the secret behind good quality, low-cost e-bikes

Avatar for Micah Toll

I’ve been riding Ride1Up e-bikes since just about their first model. Over the many years since I first threw a leg over that bike, I’ve watched the company roll out an ever-increasing lineup of diverse e-bikes that all shared one common trend: great bang for your buck.

So when I was recently touring Asia to visit micromobility factories for a peek behind the curtain, I knew Ride1Up’s factory would be high on my list. They invited me out to join the company’s founder, Kevin Dugger, on a tour of the factory so I could see just how Ride1Up goes about ensuring they can keep the quality high and the prices low.

Like nearly every other e-bike company in the US, their bikes are produced in China. But you can get a wide range of quality across such a large country with vast manufacturing facilities. If you cheap out, you get cheap products. But if you design a production system with triple and quadruple quality-assurance inspections, you get well-made products that treat their owners right for years to come.

That’s the calculation Ride1Up made, and it’s paying dividends for the company in reducing customer issues and thus, customer complaints. And when you have as generous of a return policy as Ride1Up, you darn well better make sure people get their bikes in good shape and that those bikes last as long as riders expect them to.

My tour of Ride1Up’s factory took me straight onto the factory floor where parallel production lines were busy cranking out Ride1Up’s ultra-affordable $995 Portola folding e-bike on one side of the factory, and the company’s budget-priced $2,295 CF Racer1 carbon fiber road/gravel e-bike . And yes, when it comes to carbon fiber road and gravel e-bikes, 2 g’s is crazy low-priced.

To see a tour of the factory and learn the secrets behind making high-quality e-bikes, check out my video below. And don’t forget to keep reading below for even more detail!

Before parts get to either of those lines though, they first go through pre-check. Wheels are built up around motors and front hubs using automated lacing machines that then feed into automated checking robots to ensure they’re properly laced and tensioned.

Any wheel that doesn’t come out exactly right is shunted off to a side chute where a human inspector can evaluate it and send it back for reworking until it’s perfect.

The process combines both manual and automated tasks, drawing from the best of both types of resources.

high tech tour

Frames are inspected at this point too, having been sent in from another off-site welding and painting building (as Ride1Up’s factory is located in a lower-emissions area).

The frames are inspected for any paint knicks or imperfections, and any frames with issues are marked for repair before being sent off for assembly.

The rest of the frames move on to the assembly line.

high tech tour

Those pre-inspected frames are hoisted off to the initial assembly area by an elevated conveyor, where initial assembly will begin.

On the other side of the conveyer, a worker receives the frame and sets it up at its first station so that lights can be installed on the rear rack and internally run cables can be passed through the frame tubes.

Controllers are then installed into the frames, but only after being scanned into an intelligent management system that digitally pairs each component with the bike frame. This is used for accountability in the future. If a component is ever found to be defective, such as if a controller manufacturer reports back that a certain batch of 20 controllers has an issue, Ride1Up can instantly know which bikes may be affected and can trace that exact bike and controller to its owner, even months or years later.

high tech tour

For the Portola folding e-bikes, the frames are then ready to be loaded on the assembly line’s conveyor system, which slowly moves down the line to each worker’s station.

The first step is to install the pedal drivetrain, which includes the bottom bracket, chainring, cranks, and pedals. Next the folding hardware is installed, followed by the kickstand and the rear wheel with the motor. Each component is held on using specially treated hardware designed for corrosion resistance, with bolts having thread locker compound applied to ensure they don’t shake loose.

The handlebars are then mounted to the frames along with the front fork. With the handlebars mounted, the wiring, shifter cable, and brake hoses can all be routed up to the bars. Wire wraps are applied to make the wiring hardness look neat and tidy, and then a battery is installed. Just like the controller, major parts like the motor and battery are also scanned and recorded so that documentation exists for each e-bike to maintain a record of its entire parts list.

The tools used in each step are also regularly calibrated using sophisticated electronic tools, ensuring that if a bolt requires 10 Nm of torque to be applied, the torque wrench is truly outputting 10 Nm of torque.

Reaching the end of the automated conveyor system, the e-bikes are flipped onto their wheels and rolled over to a finishing station, where another worker indexes the shifter, calibrating it so that all of the gears shift crisply and without jumping.

high tech tour

On this day, the parallel line was assembling the carbon fiber CF Racer1 e-bike. Only the most experienced workers are put on this assembly line due to the higher tolerances of carbon fiber bike work. There also aren’t any power tools used on this line; all of the assembly steps are performed using precision hand tools to avoid applying too much stress to the carbon fiber frame.

The general steps are similar to those seen on the first assembly line, but performed with an even higher level of sophistication. Frames are first visually inspected to weed out any imperfections before being hoisted along a hanging conveyor system to the assembly line. From there, workers install the controllers, batteries, wheels, handlebars, shifter, pedal drivetrain, and any other hardware.

After reaching the end of the assembly line, the bikes are rolled off to their own finishing area, where the brake lines are bled and the shifter is calibrated.

high tech tour

Once fully-assembled, both bike models are rolled off into their own corrals, where they await visual inspection. Quality testers go over the bike to inspect dozens of points and ensure they are assembled correctly.

Any issues are marked and the bikes are rolled off into a side corral for remediation. The intelligent tracking system also correlates the issue to the worker who performed that task, allowing the factory to root out systematic issues by immediately addressing any mistakes that a worker might make. Workers with few or no mistakes also get monetary bonuses to their salary, providing further incentive for the bikes to be assembled perfectly the first time.

The approved bikes are then passed onto the next stage of ride testing.

At this point, none of the e-bikes have any saddles. That’s because they’re all ride-tested to ensure all functions are working properly, and these workers use the same seats that are switched from bike to bike. The actual saddle that ships with the e-bike is added just before packaging, ensuring that when a customer eventually opens their e-bike, theirs are the first cheeks to grace that saddle.

high tech tour

Once the bikes pass their ride testing, they are considered complete, though they aren’t yet ready for packaging.

Before the e-bikes can be packed up, they first must go through a series of third-party inspections. These outside contracted inspectors aren’t Ride1Up’s factory employees, but actually work somewhat antagonistically with them. Their job is to redo all of the inspections and find anything that was missed in the several previous rounds of inspections.

Because they are technically not Ride1Up’s factory employees and instead come from an outside inspection agency, they approach the inspections differently and are better positioned to find any issues that could have slipped through the previous several rounds of in-house inspections.

Only once the e-bikes pass third-party inspections are they considered ready for boxing up. At that point, they head to the last conveyor belt of their journey, which sends them along a packaging routine that has been meticulously refined by Ride1Up over several years. The company has applied the experience of shipping tens of thousands of e-bikes to find ways to best protect the bikes while also minimizing the amount of plastic and foam used in the process.

As I looked through the packaging steps, I couldn’t find any foam traditionally used in bicycle packaging, and the only plastic I saw were the cable ties and a single piece of soft plastic used to protect the fork.

high tech tour

Interestingly, there was still one final inspection point applied even after boxing up the e-bikes. The entire box is precision weighed, which ensures it comes out to the exact right weight.

If a single component or piece of packaging was forgotten, the box would be too light and the factory would know there was an issue.

It’s just the cherry on top of an entire system full of redundant safety and quality inspections performed before, during, and after the assembly process.

I’ve seen a lot of e-bike factories in my years covering the industry, but it’s rare to see this many spot checks and quality assurances built into so many different areas of the production and assembly process.

high tech tour

The tour was a fascinating look behind the curtain of how Ride1Up builds its e-bikes, and helps answer the question of how they can offer so much value.

As a direct-to-consumer company, they have to offer e-bikes that work well right out of the box. These e-bikes are being shipped largely to private customers, not bike shops and professional assemblers. So they have to be ready to roll, without the need for repairs, right from day one. Anything else would result in a costly return process for Ride1Up.

Over the years, they have refined their system for building quality e-bikes that are built to last while still offering a reasonable price point for riders.

I’ve long touted the company’s quality and performance from my own testing of their various e-bike models. But that was always merely the end of the story – riding the finished product. Now, having seen the assembly and quality inspections firsthand, I can finally vouch for their professionalism from the very start of the process.

Here is more on how the tournament works:

What is the difference between the Division I baseball tournament and the College World Series?

The NCAA Division I baseball tournament is a 64-team tournament that starts in May. After two rounds of play (which each consist of multiple games), there are just eight teams left. These eight teams then head to Omaha, Neb. for the College World Series. The CWS is the culmination of the DI tournament, where the teams compete in two brackets, with the winners of each meeting in the CWS finals, a best-of-three series to decide the NCAA champion.

When did the College World Series start?

The first-ever NCAA Division I baseball tournament was in 1947, and would barely be recognized as the same tournament nowadays. The 1947 tournament featured just eight teams, which were divided into two four-team, single-elimination brackets. The two winners — California and Yale — then met in a best-of-three final in Kalamazoo, Michigan. California would go undefeated through the inaugural CWS and beat Yale to capture the first title.

How are teams selected for the NCAA Division I baseball tournament?

Since 1954, the NCAA Division I baseball tournament field has been split into two qualifying groups: The automatic berths, and the at-large selections. Since 2014, that in a typical year split sees 31 conference champions receive automatic berths, and 33 teams receive at-large bids, decided by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.

Men's College World Series champs since 1947

California defeated Yale in the first-ever Men's College World Series, the first of two played in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Texas put itself on the map as the first back-to-back champions in winning the only MCWS ever played in Wichita, Kansas in 1949. The following season Texas won its second championship, opening Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha.

Here's a complete list of all the College World Series finals in the 73-year history of the event. Ole Miss won the 2022 Men's College World Series in two games over Oklahoma.

HIGH ON FIRE comments: " HIGH ON FIRE legion! We are stoked to take the stage in a city near you as we bring 'Cometh The Storm' to life. Looking forward to a triumphant run of shows and reuniting with friends. See you soon!"

Tour dates:

May 04 - Orlando, FL - Conduit May 05 - Columbia, SC - The Senate May 07 - Greensboro, NC - Hanger 1819 May 08 - Richmond, VA - The Broadberry May 10 - Baltimore, MD - Baltimore Soundstage May 11 - New Haven, CT - Toad's Place May 12 - Jersey City, NJ - White Eagle Hall May 13 - Cambridge, MA - The Middle East May 15 - Albany, NY - Empire Live May 16 - Cleveland Heights, OH - Grog Shop May 17 - Detroit, MI - The Magic Stick May 18 - Chicago, IL - 3 Floyd's Brewing (Dark Lord Day feat. HIGH ON FIRE, ABBATH, FUGITIVE, 1349, SPIRITWORLD)

"Cometh The Storm" will be released on April 19 via MNRK Heavy . The Grammy Award -winning group, celebrating its 25th anniversary, recorded the LP at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts with producer Kurt Ballou . The 11-song effort — the band's ninth studio album — marks the release of the first new HIGH ON FIRE music since 2018's "Electric Messiah" and the first to feature drummer Coady Willis ( BIG BUSINESS , MURDER CITY DEVILS ),alongside bassist Jeff Matz and guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike .

"Cometh The Storm" is advanced by the lead track "Burning Down" and a haunting, fever dream video, directed by Lars Kristoffer Hormander . Check it out below.

" 'Burning Down' kicks off with a classic Pike riff," says Jeff Matz . "I think this song harkens back to the early HIGH ON FIRE sound, but infused with fresh, new elements. It has a killer groove that you can really sink into. The body of the song took shape in our PNW rehearsal space, and we came up with the bridge/solo section and finalized the arrangement while we were at GodCity . Kurt Ballou 's input as a producer was also hugely helpful. His keen ears and fresh perspective were invaluable in making this album."

"I think this band's always had a really good drive," states Pike . "It's a different entity. It's its own thing. Which, I think, makes all of us very proud to be a part of it. It's not an average band."

"Being a fan of each other's bands for a long time, it feels like all bets are off and anything goes which is a liberating feeling," shares Willis . "That feeling of making something out of all of these imperfect parts and it becomes this magical, weird, new idea that none of us ever anticipated. Against all odds. That's the joy of it."

"It's interesting, whenever there's a lineup change in a band," offers Ballou . "It can take a little while to rebuild. But it's also an opportunity to reinvigorate the band and I think that's what's happened here."

"Cometh The Storm" track listing:

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, HIGH ON FIRE creates dynamic metal that merges primal fury and aggression, hesher bombast and hall of fame heaviness. Described as "a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume," HIGH ON FIRE has rewritten the hard rock rule book since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both critically celebrated and unique. The group features vocalist and cult guitar hero Matt Pike (also a founding member of the famed underground band SLEEP ) singular bassist Jeff Matz and powerhouse drummer Coady Willis .

HIGH ON FIRE 's most recent studio album, "Electric Messiah" , was released on October 9, 2018, and won a Grammy for "Best Metal Performance", placing HIGH ON FIRE among the ranks of groups such as BLACK SABBATH , MOTÖRHEAD and METALLICA as winners of the prestigious award, presented by The Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry.
