#1 FLORIDA EVERGLADES AIRBOAT RIDE

Everglades Tours

The airboat was fun and it was exciting to see the wildlife! We saw an alligator, snapping turtle, and snake out in the water and the alligator and turtle came right up to our boat. Our guide, Captain Disco, also took the time to educate us on the Everglades!

Everglades Airboat Tours

I always wanted a ride on an air boat and it was a great experience...the company put on a good show and it was an enjoyable day.. nice staff and we saw crocodiles so everyone was happy...they have a cafe for quick eats and drinks, also an animal sanctuary!

Group at Gator Gazebo

We enjoyed the 30 min Airboat ride but also a visit to the reptile and wildlife area at the park. Captain Disco was friendly and informative. We got to see 2 gators. A good short tour and worthwhile experience when you are in the area.

Exceeded my expectations. We were lucky enough to see some alligators but even if we didn’t I still would’ve enjoyed the tour. Learning about the history, present and future plans for the Everglades was so interesting.

The trip was the perfect amount of time (30mins). We were able to see one alligator on our trip. The captain was knowledgeable, funny, and engaging. We also enjoyed the reptile zoo after the boat tour and were able to pet a baby alligator. Something different and fun to do for the whole family.

a man flying through the air over a body of water

What an amazing adventure. I have been on many airboats in the Everglades but the adventure at night is very different. Saw many many gators. Guide was wonderful!

an alligator in the water at night

It's true you may not see wildlife depending on the time of day or the time of year but the boar ride itself is not only entertaining and pleasant overall the guides are very knowledgeable and informative. Don't go on a rainy or extremely hot day and I highly recommend the Gator Nights tours. The photo souvenirs are reasonably priced, staff is friendly, good food at the food truck, and the homes they have provided for unreturnable to the wild animals is sweet the caretakers love the like pets. Good for kids, ask about the annual pass for residents.

We were absolutely happy about our time at Sawgrass Recreation! Check in was easy, and Captain Lauderdale was fabulous! We saw 4 alligators and got a great education on the birds and other animals in the area. Well worth the price of a private tour!

Touring/Riding/Exploring the Everglades

Airboats are a unique means of transportation that allow you  to go almost anywhere in the Everglades  by riding over mud, water, grass, and shallow trails. They are firm and propelled by a large gasoline engine and propeller.

Airboats usually draw only inches or less of a draft as they slide along mud and water. However, they do have their limits and not uniquely made for going long distances on hard ground.

As you make your way into the heart of the  Everglades you will see how the grass, water, and landscapes can change. Book your Fort Lauderdale alligator tour today.

If you're planning a trip to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Florida , visiting Everglades National Park should be on your to-do list. The South Florida national park is known for its expansive beauty, as well as its varied population of wildlife that includes everything from bobcats to alligators.

To see all the Everglades has to offer, sign up for a guided tour. U.S. News consulted both traveler sentiment and expert opinion to identify the top Everglades tours. Before you go, make sure you read through the National Park Service's Wildlife Viewing Ethics to keep both yourself and the animals safe during your time in the park. When choosing the best Everglades tours, we avoided recommending operators that promote wildlife shows or encourage feeding or holding the animals for photo-ops.

Visitors should plan to pay a fee to enter the park, as it may not be included in the price of the tour ticket. You should also keep in mind that many of these tour operators are located at least 30 miles west of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Tours that run on airboats – open-air vessels with huge fans at the back that propel the boat – can be very loud. Companies will generally offer ear protection, but if you or your companions are sensitive to loud noises, contact the tour provider to discuss options before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Like any other form of transportation, riding an airboat may come with some risks. To stay safe on your Everglades airboat tour, be sure to choose a company run by experienced, professional boaters (most of which undergo special training and are approved by the U.S. Coast Guard) and adhere to all rules set forth by your guide. Parents should keep a close eye on children and be sure they are properly fitted for their life jackets, and all passengers should protect against the heat by wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated. Commercial airboats typically do not exceed speeds of 30 to 40 mph to ensure a safe, smooth ride, and most operators will reschedule your tour in the event of lightning or other inclement weather. Tour companies will also generally provide riders with proper ear protection, as the boats are quite loud.

Typically, passengers will feel the most comfortable in lightweight, sleeveless clothing and shorts while on an Everglades airboat tour. If you are taking a wintertime tour, keep an eye on the weather – pants and long sleeves may be a better option, but you likely won't need a heavy jacket. Be sure to bring sunglasses, sunscreen and water to protect yourself from the effects of the sun; you may also want a hat to provide further shade and keep hair in place. Passengers with long hair are advised to wear it in a ponytail or bun to keep it from becoming knotted in the wind. Tourgoers may also wish to apply some bug spray prior to embarking on their adventure.

Airboat tours last about an hour, though duration will depend on the tour company.

An airboat's top speed is about 30 mph.

Not normally, but you run a small risk of getting misted with water. If you take a tour when it is raining, expect to get wet.

In winter, you'll want to time your visit for midday, when it warms up. In summer, you'll want to visit in the morning or later afternoon when it's coolest. Visiting at these times can increase your chances of seeing wildlife, but you'll likely see all kinds of critters no matter when you visit year-round.

EXTENDED PRIVATE AIRBOAT TOUR

Take a private airboat tour with room for up to 15 people in one party! Learn all about the natural wildlife in the beautiful Everglades and get general admission to the park.

AT EVERGLADES ALLIGATOR FARM

South Florida’s oldest alligator farm, the Everglades Alligator Farm, is located near the entrance of Everglades National Park and contains more than 2,000 alligators.

A trip to the Everglades Alligator Farm includes an exciting airboat tour, an alligator show, and an alligator feeding demonstration! If you are headed to Key Largo or Key West, this is an attraction you absolutely won’t want to miss.

BEST AIRBOAT RIDE IN SOUTH FLORIDA

I went here today with my husband and paid about $60 for both of us, and that is already including airboat show in the package which I highly recommend. This is a great spot to check out when in South Florida. We spent about three hours in the place. Staffs are friendly and shows were very entertaining.

A quick adventure, not too long but enough to get a feel for the land. We loved the 360 turns, even got soaked (or a little wet) depending on where you sit. You can feed an Emu, see the anaconda and fun gift shop too. We loved the baby alligator pen and holding a baby alligator was unforgettable! The alligator feeding and alligator show was great, the gentleman who hosted was even better. Very friendly, patient with kids and informative/educational.

We had a lot of fun here, the animals look like they are taken good care of and Liz was great, she did all the shows on this day (gator, snakes, feeding) and we thought she did an amazing job! The airboat tour was also great, it’s loud but you get ear protection and we saw gators!

As an animal lover, this was just about the best part of our 5 day trip here. I loved the great info from both shows and got to hold a baby alligator too! Over 250 alligators to see of all sizes. If you cant decide whether to add the boat ride, think no more, add it. Very fun, safe and once in a lifetime experience. All so affordable.

Highly recommend visiting this place. It was one of the best experience on our holiday. We booked an animal experience tour which was great, we all loved it and many thanks to our great guide! He was so nice and knowledgeable and made the tour really enjoyable for the kids too. Thank you!

I hadn't had high expectations because the price was lower than other options I had looked into. Tyler was engaging and informative for the alligator feeding and show. Jose was a great tour guide on the fan boat through the everglades. There is a reptile exhibit among other animals to view included with the general admission. My two young kids had a great time as well. It's couple and kid-friendly!

Not just a roadside attraction - but also very educational. The folks who gave the talks where very informative about the reptiles and conservation starts with education. The airboat ride was very fun and VERY wet - too short though. Spent about 3 hours there.

They keep adding to it and it's grown substantially since my last visit. Well worth the admission fee of $27.00 USD which does not include the swamp bait ride. I think it was $32.00 all inclusive. This place does a great job through it's alligator feeding and taming exhibitions. In addition to alligators, they have crocodiles, bobcats, parakeets, large turtles, a snake exhibit, and much more. On this trip, there was no snake show with used to be part of the schedule. I'm not sure if it was discontinued or just not available on the day we went. You are free to bring in your own food and enjoy a nice picnic at one of their many picnic tables. Your entire experience takes about three hours. It's quite educational and I highly recommend it.

You can do the whole thing (feeding demo, airboat ride, show) in around two hours. They have over 400 alligators and a variety of other animals on exhibit. There are several enclosures with baby alligators. The airboat ride is 20 minutes of fun if you get the right guide. Ours was awesome. You actually learn a lot that you may not know about gators.

Rows upon rows of sawgrass line the calm waterways as hundreds of species of different animals roam freely. Mangroves line the coast, undisturbed by the hectic speed of our day to day lives. We’re of course talking about the Everglades. The largest wetlands on the planet, the Everglades is practically untouched and barely explored due to its sheer size. Nearly one million people visit the Everglades yearly. With little solid ground, the Everglades would normally be rather difficult to see. Everglades & Airboat

Everglades, situated in state of Florida is one of the biggest swamp areas in USA. The swamp was over centuries of water pouring from lake Okeechobee. What makes Everglades special is a rich animal and plant world ( from aligators to bears and a variety of different types of plants).

In Everglades National Park, if you're bored then you're doing something wrong, join a park ranger for an hour walk along various paths or photograph alligators just a few metres away from them, enjoy an evening campfire with your friends.

Everglades is the 3rd largest National Park in the USA and is visited by more than 1,000,000 people every year. When people mention Everglades they mostly think on alligators, and for a good reason. Swamp areas are heaven for alligators and that's what makes them thrive in that ecosystem, but not only alligators but a large number of birds is also attracted to it because of very good feeding locations.

To sum up, Everglades is a beauty to behold, if you're there for the animals, plants or just the sightseeing you will be amazed.

Located in Florida near Fort Lauderdale.  Everglades or Swamp as it is called by tourists flows south from West Palm Beach To Miami. The Everglades has been around for thousands of years and has a rich Native American culture. An Everglades swamp tour is one of the top attractions in Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale airboat rides provide private swamp tours, as well as private airboat tours daily. Join us today for an adventure, as well as one of the best boat tours in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Everglades Swamp Tours Fort Lauderdale

The Native Americans named the everglades Okeechobee meaning “river of grass” and the everglades are exactly that. It is classified as one of the widest rivers in the world.  Only in the more recent decades have we realized the importance of the natural beauty and ecological balance of keeping the swamp preserved, and since then Florida has started to protect its land. Airboat tours can be fun although they are very educational and interesting.

The thrill of an airboat ride

Airboat Rides are about more than just visiting. They are also about having a fun time whilst doing it. Our airboats glide above the water surface, and they can go fast! Airboat rides are a truly exciting time, a fast-paced trip across the swampland. Comparing airboats to traditional boats would be doing them disfavor. Airboats have speed, they move very smoothly and are very mobile. It brings a very welcome breeze, but never enough to feel uncomfortable. The best way to imagine it is to visualize a fast ride in a theme park. Don’t worry though, your head won’t be placed upside down, it’s all smooth riding. Also, and this is a big also, airboats don’t cause sickness. They don’t sway around, so even if you are susceptible to this sort of discomfort, you will actually be able to enjoy an airboat ride without any downsides to it. You and your family, especially your kids, will be able to enjoy being on an airboat. This is what makes airboats so great: they are flexible, making them the ideal vehicle for all sorts of people. From younger to older, almost everyone will be able to have a good time.

Superb nature, awesome animals

The ecosystem of the Everglades is big and imposing. Plants and animals thrive across many acres of marshes and swampland. You might well witness an American alligator or even an American crocodile. Just close your eyes for a second and imagine the feeling of witnessing such a scary yet awesome beast. Reptiles are only the tip of the iceberg, the icing on the cake as they say. You will also find many native and unique bird species, mammals, fish, insects… the list goes on. Traveling the Everglades is the perfect opportunity for bird lovers to finally encounter species such as the Roseate Spoonbill and many more. Now, of course, can’t always say 100% that you will come across the exact animal you are looking for. It is nature after all, and we can’t always foresee where every creature is going to be at any given time. However, we know the Everglades very well as if it were our own garden. We will always take you to the best spots to maximize your chances of witnessing as many of the superb creatures as can possibly be.

Abundant wildlife attracts people from all over the globe, throughout, an airboat tour is nothing short of fascinating.  To experience an airboat ride in Fort Lauderdale contact us today, even if you just want a joy ride. We specialize in Airboat rides with a one on one experience that is private with you and nature. You will not be disappointed to read our 5-star reviews of  Fort Lauderdale airboat rides . Worst rainfall that triggered floods in Florida is over as affected residents clean up

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Although more rain could trigger additional isolated Florida flooding on Friday, forecasters say the strong, persistent storms that dumped up to  20 inches (50 centimeters)  in southern parts of the state appear to have passed.

Some neighborhood streets in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas still have standing water, although it is rapidly receding, officials said.

“The worst flooding risk was the last three days,” said Sammy Hadi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Miami. “The heaviest rainfall has concluded.”

The  no-name storm system  pushed across Florida from the Gulf of Mexico at roughly the same time as the early June start of hurricane season, which this year is  forecast to be among the most active  in recent memory amid concerns that climate change is increasing storm intensity.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a media briefing in Hollywood, south of Fort Lauderdale, and said while more rain was coming, it’s likely to be more typical of South Florida afternoon showers this time of year.

“We are going to get some more rain today, maybe throughout the balance of the weekend. Hopefully it’s not approaching the levels that it was, but we have a lot of resources staged here and we’ll be able to offer the state’s assistance,” he said.

DeSantis said the state has deployed about 100 pumps in addition to what cities and counties are using to try to clear water from streets.

Florida Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie said while flooding was extensive, there were no reports of destroyed homes and very few of severely damaged homes. No deaths or serious injuries have been reported.

“We don’t think there’s going to be enough damage to necessarily qualify for a federal disaster declaration,” DeSantis said. But he added the storms may have affected enough business to qualify for Small Business Administration assistance.

The downpours hit Tuesday and continued into Wednesday, delaying flights at two of the state’s largest airports and leaving vehicles waterlogged and stalled in some of the region’s lowest-lying streets. The main problem was hundreds of vehicles that were stranded on streets as people were unable to navigate the flood waters.

“Looked like the beginning of a zombie movie,” said Ted Rico, a tow truck driver who spent much of Wednesday night and Thursday morning helping to clear the streets of stalled vehicles. “There’s cars littered everywhere, on top of sidewalks, in the median, in the middle of the street, no lights on. Just craziness, you know. Abandoned cars everywhere.”

Rico, of One Master Trucking Corp., was born and raised in Miami and said he was ready for the emergency.

“You know when its coming,” he said. “Every year it’s just getting worse, and for some reason people just keep going through the puddles.”

On Thursday morning, Daniela Urrieche, 26, was bailing water out of her SUV, which got stuck on a flooded street as she drove home from work Wednesday.

“In the nine years that I’ve lived here, this has been the worst,” she said. “Even in a hurricane, streets were not as bad as it was in the past 24 hours.”

WEATHER ALERT

A flood watch in effect for 4 regions in the area

Crew begins demolishing parkland classroom building where 17 were killed in 2018 shooting.

Hannah Yechivi , Reporter

Terry Spencer, Associated Press

PARKLAND, Fla. – A crew on Friday began tearing down the three-story classroom building where 17 people died in the 2018 mass shooting at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The victims’ families were invited to watch the first blows and hammer off a piece themselves if they chose to. Officials plan to complete the weekslong project before the school’s 3,300 students return in August from summer vacation. Most were in elementary school when the shooting happened.

“Obviously today is a very, very sad day. It’s a reminder that I don’t have my little boy here,” Max Schachter, whose son, Alex, was killed in the shooting said.

“The fire alarms, the screaming, the police coming in with the hands drawn hands in the air -- very traumatic,” former student Bryan Lequerique said.

SKY 10 OVER SCENE OF DEMOLITION:

The building had been kept up to serve as evidence at the shooter’s 2022 penalty trial. Jurors toured its bullet-pocked and blood-stained halls, but spared him a death sentence. He is serving a term of life without parole.

“I just kept thinking about my daughter, Alyssa, who was murdered in that building and the pain that I go through every day,” Lori Alhadeff, who is now a Broward School Board member, said.

Alyssa, Alex and 15 others had their lives cut short on Valentine’s Day six years ago after a former student walked in and fatally shot the students and staff members.

“I’ve been through that building over 10 times, and every time it’s excruciatingly painful to see Alex’s blood all over the chair,” Schachter said.

On Friday, parents, friends, teachers and community members gathered outside the school to witness the demolition.

“And for my family and this community, Parkland and Coral Springs, to be able to move forward and heal and for the students that go to school here -- so they don’t have to pass this building where the shooting happened,” Alhadeff said.

Destroying the building is one step in their healing process.

”When I brought people through that building, it changed their lives and they never will forget walking through the site of the Parkland school shooting,” Schachter said.

Once the walls are down, the area will be turned around for students to create newer and happier memories.

“We are going to absolutely honor the memory of the 17 at this legacy field, but we want it to be a usable space,” Alhadeff said. “This is a school and we want the students live the legacy of the students -- remember them.”

Broward County is not alone in taking down a school building after a mass shooting. In Connecticut, Sandy Hook Elementary School was torn down after the 2012 shooting and replaced. In Texas, officials closed Robb Elementary in Uvalde after the 2022 shooting there and plan to demolish it. Colorado’s Columbine High had its library demolished after the 1999 shooting.

Over the last year, some victims’ relatives have led Vice President Kamala Harris, members of Congress, school officials, police officers and about 500 other invitees from around the country on tours of the building. They mostly demonstrated how improved safety measures like bullet-resistant glass in door windows, a better alarm system and doors that lock from the inside could have saved lives.

Those who have taken the tour have called it gut-wrenching as something of a time capsule of Feb. 14, 2018. Textbooks and laptops sat open on desks, and wilted Valentine’s Day flowers, deflated balloons and abandoned teddy bears were scattered amid broken glass. Those objects have now been removed.

U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, an alumnus of the school, said in a statement Friday that the community was forever changed by the shooting.

“I never thought I’d see the high school where I graduated from turned into a war zone. What I’ve seen in that building is truly haunting — windows with bullet holes, homework scattered everywhere, blood in the hallway,” Moskowitz said. “The people of Parkland will no longer have to pass by this horrific reminder of our grief. The families of those innocent lives taken that day will never be able to move on, just move forward.”

The Broward County school board has not decided what the building will be replaced with. Teachers suggested a practice field for the band, Junior ROTC and other groups, connected by a landscaped pathway to a nearby memorial that was erected a few years ago. Several of the students killed belonged to the band or Junior ROTC.

Some parents want the site turned into a memorial.

Tony Montalto, whose daughter Gina died that day, said in a statement that the demolition is “a necessary part of moving forward.” He has advocated for school safety programs and a memorial site.

“My beautiful daughter Gina was shot here. In my family, we have a difference of opinion. My son is afraid people will forget if the building is gone,” said Montalto.

“While we can never erase the pain and the memories, we can create a space that honors their legacy and fosters hope for a safer future,” he said. “That’s why we fight every day to pass meaningful legislation that keeps our family members safe in their school.”

Demolition will take place on weekdays until 4:30 p.m. and must conclude before the start of the school year in August. The school district says they are working with the families to figure out what to do with the site moving forward once the demolition is completed.

South Florida storms cause public office closures; delays and cancellations at MIA, FLL, continue

MIAMI (WSVN) - For the third consecutive day in a row, two of the state’s major airports, Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport experienced significant travel delays as heavy rains and severe thunderstorms swamp the region.

On Wednesday, MIA and FLL had more than 1,200 air travel disruptions , leading the nation in canceled and delayed flights.

A bit of sunshine peeked through on Thursday morning allowing flights to leave and enter South Florida, but showers and widespread flash floods are still expected throughout the duration of the day.

The threat to air travel remains and is expected to continue throughout the remainder of the week.

Travelers are strongly advised to  confirm their flights  with their airlines before heading to either airport.

Authorities at MIA say they’ve had 47 flights delayed and 187 canceled. The area is currently under a flood watch and authorities are stressing the importance of not driving through any flooded roadways and continuously checking the status of your flight.

⚠️ #WeatherAdvisory (06/13/24) ⚠️ Inclement weather will affect flights. If you're traveling, please contact your airline for the latest updates. We’re also under a flood watch. Before heading to the airport, please check local conditions and avoid driving through flooded areas. pic.twitter.com/UTgKtOcMd3 — Miami Int'l Airport (@iflymia) June 13, 2024

At FLL, the airport traffic and delays are a bit lighter as planes were seen taking off this morning. Officials say they expect 29 delays including departure and arrivals and roughly 77 total cancelations.

#WeatherAlert3 : Due to heavy rainfall over #FLL , motorists should exercise caution on the airport's terminal roadways. Flooding at the entrance & exit is slowing traffic flow in and out of the airport. Several flights are delayed/canceled, so check with your airline for updates. — Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Int'l Airport (FLL) (@FLLFlyer) June 12, 2024

In addition to flight disruptions, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava also issued a state of emergency for Miami-Dade County.

The City of Miami Beach declared a state of emergency on Thursday because of flooding conditions and additional rounds of thunderstorms and rain.

Due to the inclement weather, Broward County’s 17th Judicial Circuit is closed on Thursday and expected to resume on Friday. Shelter hearings and juvenile detention hearings are happening via Zoom. First appearances are on a weekend schedule.

We are expected to get an update about how officials expect to move forward the rest of the week.

The 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida will be closed on Thursday, June 13, 2024 due to inclement weather. Operations will resume on Friday, June 14, 2024. pic.twitter.com/8ZhpJOv9JF — 17th Circuit (@17thCircuit) June 13, 2024

Broward College announced they were cancelling classes and closing its office for Thursday night. Normal operations are expected to resume on 8 a.m. on Friday.

Heavy downpours and flooding are still a major concern for much of South Florida throughout Thursday evening and into Friday. The moisture causing the storms is expected to slowly shift out of the area by Friday, it can carry over into the weekend with multiple locations getting scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Travelers and residents alike are urged to stay out of the waters, remain informed about  weather updates , and heed all advisories to navigate the severe weather conditions safely.
