Generali Global Assistance Travel Insurance Company Review

Extra protection to cover your travel related expenses

Company Overview

In a perfect world, we would never have to change plans or delay a trip or vacation. Since plans do change and you may need extra protection to cover your travel-related expenses, there is travel insurance. One company to consider for your travel insurance needs is Generali Global Assistance, formerly known as CSA Travel Protection Insurance Company, which has been providing protection for travelers since 1991. Even though the company rebranded in 2017 to Generali Global Assistance, there are travel insurance plans that still carry the CSA Travel Protection name.

The company’s U.S. operations are based out of San Diego, California. Generali Global Assistance is owned by Europ Assistance Group (EA), which is a worldwide organization providing emergency assistance services and has been in business since 1963.

Financial Stability

Generali Group has an A (Excellent) rating with A.M. Best Insurance rating organization , as well as a stable A- rating with Fitch and a stable Baa1 rating with Moody's.

Better Business Bureau Rating

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) file was originally opened as the CSA Travel Protection Insurance Company in 1994 and has been an accredited business since 2009. Since the brand change, the customer service rating of Generali Global Assistance has since maintained its “A+” rating with the BBB. Also, of these complaints, 98 were resolved to the customer’s satisfaction. The company has a composite score rating of 1.03 out of 5 stars.

Available Plans

Travel insurance plans available through Generali Global Assistance are the Standard, Preferred , and Premium plans. You can review the information for each plan, receive a quote, and buy coverage right from the Generali Global Assistance Travel Insurance website. Generali Global Assistance Travel Insurance has a 10-day free look clause meaning that you can change your mind within 10 days and receive a refund as long as you have not yet left for your trip. There are three travel insurance plans with comprehensive coverage options, making it an easy process to find the right travel insurance plan and buy your policy online.

Generali Global Assistance provides its customers with a 24/7 emergency assistance hotline available from anywhere in the world. There are attractive optional service options including concierge, identity theft resolution, and telemedicine services.

Read your description of coverage carefully. If you have homeowners or renters insurance, those policies are considered primary and Generali Global Assistance will only pay what your primary insurance policy does not pay.  Some complaints from policyholders have stated that the policy language is confusing as to what is and is not a valid reason for canceling your trip.

The Bottom Line

It is a good idea to check and see how much coverage you have through other insurance policies before purchasing additional travel insurance. If you feel you need additional coverage than what you already have, Generali Global Assistance Travel Insurance is a good option to consider. CSA travel insurance is owned by Europe Assistance, an insurance company that specializes in providing emergency assistance services.

Launched in 1991, and headquartered in San Diego, California, CSA Travel Insurance has protected millions of travelers worldwide from common travel issues such as canceled trips and delays, as well as 24/7 assistance with emergencies such as hurricanes and medical evacuations by helicopter.

Whether you’re a single person traveling alone or a budget-conscious parent taking a family trip, CSA has options for you.

CSA Travel Protection

The CSA Custom Travel Protection Plan is designed to offer affordable trip cancellation insurance for travelers of all ages.

Coverage can be purchased per single trip and canceled within ten days of purchase if needed.

Their online cost calculator provides obligation-free travel insurance quotes .

CSA offers a variety of affordable coverage, and its range of service providers across the globe ensure that customers can travel with peace of mind, knowing that help is only a phone call away.

CSA received an A+rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and its underwriter, Generali , has high marks from A.M. Best and Moody’s.

Benefits of CSA Travel Insurance

CSA offers two types of trip insurance for travelers of all ages which cover trip cancellation, delays, and interruptions.

Customers have a ten day, obligation-free period to cancel their travel insurance should they decide they no longer need it, and get full reimbursement as long as they have not yet left for their trip.

Customers may purchase any one of the CSA Travel Protection Plans online for their convenience.

Medical assistance, baggage cover, accidental death, and group cover are available options, and children are protected under their parents’ coverage.

Travelers can have peace of mind knowing that 24/7 customer support is available from over 108,000 service providers internationally.

There are no exclusions on the CSA Custom Travel Protection Luxe Plan, and both CSA trip insurance packages offer extras that include return travel arrangements, rebooking assistance, lost baggage search, and legal aid.

CSA’s travel insurance reviews have been favorable thanks to exclusive services such as ‘Consult a Doctor’, which links customers to medical professionals anywhere in the world in case an emergency strikes while traveling abroad.

What’s Covered With CSA Travel Insurance?

The most common claims covered are:

  • Trip cancellation: If you’re forced to cancel your vacation for any of the reasons covered by CSA Trip Insurance, you may be reimbursed in full. For more flexibility regarding cancellations for any other reason, make sure you add it to your travel insurance package when making your first deposit.
  • Trip interruption: Regardless of whether you fall sick with the flu or you’re forced to return to work due to unforeseen circumstances, the costs for a return flight or for unused accommodations could be covered by the trip insurance.
  • Travel delays and missed connections: Severe weather can interrupt flights for longer than expected, even if you’ve allowed for delays in your travel schedule. A holdup during the first leg of a trip can result in missing the next flight, cruise, or tour departure. CSA trip insurance provides ample coverage for delays and missed connections.
  • Baggage delay and loss: In the event that an airline loses your luggage, they won’t cover the lost items’ cash value, quite an annoyance when the luggage contains essential items such as clothes and much-needed toiletries. Likewise, the airline isn’t required to provide essential items if there is baggage delay. CSA’s Custom Travel Luxe Plan gives you $500 for replacing baggage whether it’s lost or delayed by the airline or for any other reason.
  • Medical expenses: The Custom Luxe plan provides generous coverage for a wide range of medical expenses while you are traveling. This high-end plan also covers accidental death and dismemberment, including funeral expenses.
  • Emergency assistance: The 24-hour travel hotline helps travelers transfer cash, find a doctor, rent a car in the event of an emergency, or make an emergency airline reservation. Concierge and emergency assistance services are also provided.

CSA Travel Insurance Plans

CSA Trip Insurance offers two different plans depending on your budget:

CSA Custom Travel Protection Luxe Plan

An ideal, comprehensive coverage plan for single travelers or groups, CSA’s Luxe Plan offers a range of high-end options such as full reimbursements for trip cancellations and comprehensive coverage in the event of trip interruptions, travel delays, or missed connections.

If baggage is lost or delayed, the plan may pay out up to $500 for items such as clothing and toiletries, even if your luggage is found later.

Coverage is also provided for medical emergencies, airline reservations, cash transfers, emergency car rentals, and for dependents through their parents.

CSA Custom Travel Insurance Plan

This budget-friendly policy offers several perks, although its reduced costs come with coverage limits.

Travelers enjoy coverage that includes concierge service and identity theft resolution as well as 24-hour emergency medical services.

In the event of lost or stolen luggage, CSA trip insurance covers its cash value.

Nonetheless, the CSA Custom Travel Protection Plan does not offer coverage for preexisting conditions.

Even with its limitations, customers still enjoy plan benefits such as reimbursement for trip cancellations and delays, lost baggage, and certain medical and dental emergencies (excluding preexisting conditions).

The following chart compares the covered reasons for the Custom Travel Protection Luxe Plan and the Custom Travel Protection Plan.

The following chart compares the limits between the Custom Travel Protection Luxe Plan and the Custom Travel Protection Plan.

Add-ons such as travel assistance services, return travel arrangements, and roadside assistance may also be purchased on the CSA Custom Travel Protection Luxe Plan.

Add-ons provide protection that goes above and beyond regular benefits.

On the other hand, the optional cover on the Custom Travel Protection Plan is limited to $9 per day for rental car damage.

csa travel protection cancellation

How Much Does CSA Travel Insurance Cost?

Travel insurance costs are based on factors such as destination and departure lag, and usually range between four and eight percent of the total trip cost.

CSA does not have age limits for travelers, and dependents are covered through their parents on both the Custom Luxe and Custom Travel Protection Plans.

However, the coverage is only valid for single trips.

Online quotes are based on the total cost of the trip and are available in real-time on the CSA website, allowing travelers to immediately determine the amount of travel insurance they’ll need.

All refunds and claims must be made within ten days of purchasing the policy, either full reimbursements for trip cancellations or unused accommodations and return flight reimbursement for trip interruptions.

Claims can be started online through the CSA website or through fax, email, or regular mail.

CSA Travel Protection Company Ratings & Reviews

Despite receiving some negative reviews, CSA Travel Insurance has an A+ rating from the BBB.

CSA strives to resolve all customer queries and provides feedback to its customers. Negative reviews are usually related to terms and conditions stated in the fine print on insurance contracts.

In 2017, CSA Travel Protection won two Stevie ® Awards for Sales and Customer Services. CSA Travel Protection was voted one of the best trip insurance companies in 2018.

Financial Stability

CSA Travel Insurance policies are underwritten by Generali , an Italian insurance company founded in 1831.

As of 2010, Generali was the world’s second-largest insurer (based on revenue) making it a financially sound international company.

Financial strength is essential since the insurer must be able to pay its customers’ current and future claims.

CSA has earned Moody’s Long-term Corporate Obligation Rating of Baa2 implying moderate credit risk, which is acceptable in the travel industry.

CSA’s A.M. Best financial rating is a+.

CSA Travel Insurance Customer Assistance Services

Travelers can call any of the more than 108,000 service providers available internationally for assistance ranging from emergency cash transfers, identity theft resolution services, eyeglass, and medication replacement, to return travel arrangements.

Help is available over the phone 24/7 eliminating time zone difference and providing peace of mind for travelers requiring assistance at any time.

CSA lacks basic digital options, as it does not have a mobile application, and their online experience only offers an online cost calculator that lets customers determine the cost of insurance per trip.

Furthermore, apart from commenting on review pages, customers can expect some delays receiving responses to emails or for an operator to answer their call.

Customer assistance does include help with rebooking, lost baggage search, lost passport/document assistance, emergency cash, translation services, legal assistance, and roadside assistance.

Additional benefits include medical assistance services, physician referral, medical case management, arrangements for medical payments, emergency prescription replacement, and eyeglass replacement.

Concierge services provided by CSA include restaurant referrals and reservations, event referrals and bookings, and ground transportation.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

We strongly recommend you consider purchasing trip cancellation (including medical emergency) insurance to cover your investment in case of injury or illness to you or your family prior to or during a trip. Because we must remit early (and substantial) tour deposits to our suppliers, we will not issue a refund when cancellation occurs outside of our cancellation policy as published in the itinerary (see our Cancellation Policy on this page ). (Most personal policies as well as government coverage such as Medicare do not provide coverage outside of your country of domicile.) Please note that you can purchase your travel insurance policy before you book your flights, as you will be able to add the price of your airfare at a later date and pay any supplemental premium at that time. However, we ask that you wait to book flights until we notify you that the tour is operational.

Should you choose to use it, our agent, CSA Travel Protection, will insure for trip cancellation and interruption, medical coverage, travel delay, baggage loss and delay, 24-hour accident protection, and emergency medical transportation. IMPORTANT REMINDER regarding CSA travel insurance: In order for  pre-existing conditions  to be covered through CSA, your insurance policy must cover all of your non-refundable travel arrangements, including flights. Also, you must purchase the insurance within 24 hours of paying the final tour fee (based on the date the check is written) or any time prior to making full payment. As noted above, participants covered by Medicare should be aware that Medicare does not provide coverage outside the US; a CSA Travel Protection policy does.

The following link will take you to CSA Travel Protection’s site, where you can read more about coverage, check rates, and purchase insurance. ( New York and Hawaii residents  see important note below.)

CSA Travel Protection trip cancellation insurance

We look forward to seeing you on a Field Guides birding tour soon!

Important note for residents of New York or Hawaii

Currently we are unable to offer CSA insurance policies to residents of New York and Hawaii. We have had clients from these states provide positive feedback after acquiring insurance using  InsureMyTrip  in the past and would suggest that as an alternative. When purchasing insurance with a company other than CSA, you will want to understand whether the timing of your purchase will affect coverage before paying your first deposit. Insurance purchase requirements can vary from company to company, and such requirements could limit your options if you do not look into this until making your final payment for your tour.  Please let us know if you have any questions about this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cancel for any reason insurance (also called CFAR coverage) is a type of trip cancellation insurance that lets you cancel your trip for a reason not listed as a covered reason in your plan. For example, you may decide not to travel due to an illness in your extended family or a specific financial issue you're dealing with. In either case, this time-sensitive coverage can help you get reimbursement for prepaid trip payments you have made toward airfare, hotel stays, tours and more.

CFAR coverage typically needs to be purchased within a sensitive period of time after making a trip deposit (usually ranging from 14 to 20 days after). Travelers only get back between 50% and 80% of prepaid travel expenses, depending on your policy, so this coverage won't lead to a full refund.

If you're worried how COVID-19 might affect your travel plans, you can purchase travel insurance that includes COVID-19 coverage . That said, CFAR protection can also be a good investment, particularly if you want the option to cancel based on last-minute disinclination to travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Some destinations pose less of a risk than others.

After a last-minute flight cancellation last year, I'm making travel insurance a priority this summer

  • When my flight was canceled last year, I had to get a layover and lost my more expensive seat.
  • This year, I'm getting travel insurance, which will cover me if my flight is canceled.
  • My travel insurance was just $36, and I'll get hundreds back if something goes wrong.

Insider Today

Last year, I got the chance to attend the charity video game marathon Summer Games Done Quick in person for the first time. I had been a longtime viewer of the event through its online streams, and I was excited to finally go there in person.

The event was held in downtown Minneapolis, and I decided to fly there from my home in Virginia. I knew that travel insurance was valuable, but I opted to forgo it. I've never felt comfortable squeezing into most airplane seats, and I was happy to pay a bit extra for several more inches of legroom, but I didn't really want another expense on top of that.

That turned out to be a big mistake.

My flight got canceled at the last minute

Games Done Quick — which hosts two major events each year, one in the winter and one in the summer — is a weeklong event raising money for charity, running from the afternoon on a Sunday to the end of the following Saturday. I planned on flying out on Saturday and returning on Monday, so I'd have a little bit of time to get settled in before the event started and time to recuperate once it was over, and I had direct flights for both legs of the trip.

The first leg of the trip went great. I arrived right on time, and I caught a ride to the hotel where one of several friends I was sharing a room with had already checked in. I had a great week, even if my sleep schedule suffered. And I figured since I'd given myself an extra day after the end of the event to recover, I'd be fully refreshed once I got back home. When Sunday rolled around and the final tally for the event came in — over $2.2 million raised for Doctors Without Borders — I was sad that the week was over but ready to get home.

On Monday morning, while I was packing, I got an email letting me know that my flight had been canceled, and the flight suggested as a replacement wouldn't leave until Tuesday. There was no way that would work. Thankfully, the employee I spoke to over the phone was very helpful, but the only available flight had a long layover in Dallas — and no open seats in the section I had originally planned on sitting in.

I didn't really have much of a choice at that point. I couldn't spring for a last-minute extra night at a hotel. I had to take the layover and sacrifice the leg room.

This year, I'm getting travel insurance

I was thankful to finally get home close to midnight, but I was barely functional the next day, and I was frustrated that there wasn't a better solution. The fee for the section where I had booked my ticket wasn't very expensive at $43, but it was less about the money and more about the fact that I had more or less been locked into a bad deal with no real way out.

That's why, when I bought my plane tickets for this year's event, I opted to get travel insurance. I booked my flight through Delta, and while checking out, the website quoted a price of $36 for Allianz travel insurance . I opted to take that offer.

My coverage includes up to $300 if my trip is delayed, and I can get a full refund if it's canceled. If I have another flight cancellation, instead of having to take whatever replacement is available to me, I'll be able to take some time to figure out my best option. My travel insurance also means the trip is fully covered if it's canceled outright due to illness, and I'm also covered if my luggage is lost or damaged.

Obviously, there's never any guarantee that travel will go perfectly — any number of unforeseen problems could make a trip go poorly, and travel insurance won't cover all of them. But there's nothing quite as frustrating as a last-minute flight mishap, and I'm relieved to know that if anything goes wrong, I'll have a bit more leeway to make sure I'm getting the best solution.

How Travel Insurance Can Help with Trip Cancellation

One of the most common reasons people consider travel insurance is the worry that they may have to cancel their trip and lose money they’ve already paid for it. If you think you're spending more on your vacation than you can afford to lose, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance with Trip Cancellation coverage.

What is Trip Cancellation Insurance?

Trip Cancellation insurance is designed to make you "whole" again, reimbursing you for unused, non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you’re prevented from taking your trip due to a covered reason.

If you’re forced to cancel your trip, how much of that pre-paid trip cost could you get back? There are often cancellation penalties tied to travel purchases and you could get a portion of your trip costs back or none at all. Those penalties tend to get more severe as the departure date gets closer. This is where travel cancellation insurance can help you.

Many things can happen between the time you book your trip and the start of your vacation that could affect you, your traveling companions or family members and force you to cancel your trip—sickness, job loss, and even flight cancellations due to adverse weather or an airline strike. Luckily, travel insurance is a small investment against the full cost of a trip and usually includes Trip Cancellation coverage that can provide reimbursement for a canceled trip.

When Trip Cancellation Insurance Can be Used

Trip Cancellation is the only travel insurance coverage that can be used before a trip begins. Travel insurance can help protect you from certain unexpected events that are out of your control, but only specific events are covered.

Consider these scenarios that might cause you to cancel your trip and could be covered by trip cancellation insurance:

Sickness, Injury and Death:  You or a traveling companion become sick or injured and can’t travel. Or a non-traveling family member is hospitalized or passes away and you are unable to make the trip.

Adverse Weather:  You experience flight cancellations due to adverse weather such as a hurricane or snowstorm.

Job Loss:  After at least one year of employment you are laid off and can't go on your trip.

Extension of School Year:  Your son or daughter attending school must complete a new operating session that was extended beyond the pre-defined school year.

Military Duty:  Due to a natural disaster, a traveling companion has been called into active military service to provide relief efforts and must cancel his or her trip.

Home Uninhabitable:  A flood, fire or other natural disaster renders your home residence uninhabitable.

These are some of the common situations where you could be reimbursed for trip costs if you have trip cancellation insurance, but not a complete list of possible covered situations. See our full list of covered reasons for trip cancellation

If you’re worried that you might lose your vacation investment if you’re forced to cancel your trip, travel cancellation insurance might be right for you.

In addition, Holland America Line (HAL) automatically assumes an additional $500 (USD) of liability for lost, damaged or delayed baggage of guests who purchase the CPP Standard Plan still subject, however, to the limitations in our baggage policies. For example, we do not cover losses while baggage is in the custody of airlines. Please review our  Baggage Policy .

It may be added to your reservation to provide you with trip cancellation protection for up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel. It provides no rights other than those explained above. For example, it does not protect double-triple-quad occupancy rates should one or more members of your party cancel, nor does it cover expenses for unused services due to trip interruption.

The CPP Standard Plan is available for purchase prior to the date on which cancellation fees begin to accrue. Payment is due at time of purchase. The cost of CPP Standard is non-refundable once cancel fees begin to accrue. The per person, per cruise cost is listed with the cruise fares. Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I purchase one of Holland America Line’s Cancellation Protection Plans (CPP)?

CPP may help protect your cruise payment in the event of unexpected occurrences that may affect your travel plans. You may also want to consider purchasing this coverage to ensure you have medical protection while traveling. Some medical policies, like Medicare, may not provide coverage for medical expenses incurred outside of the United States.

One of Holland America Line’s Cancellation Protection Plans could help reimburse you for unforeseeable losses if:

  • You should need to cancel before departure for ANY reason
  • Your luggage is lost, damaged, or delayed
  • A family member back home becomes ill and you must return from your vacation early
  • The flight on which you were scheduled is delayed or cancelled and you miss your cruise departure
  • You become injured or sick during your vacation

What is the difference between the two plans?

The Standard Plan (Cancel for Any Reason Waiver) offers the opportunity to receive a refund from Holland America Line beyond the published refund policy for the otherwise non-refundable cancellation fees. This waiver allows you, for any reason, to cancel up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel arrangements made by Holland America Line and receive a money back refund equal to 80% of the prepaid, non-refundable cancellation fees applicable to your cruise vacation.  Please refer to the brochure for your cruise for the applicable cancellation fee policy. CPP Standard (Cancel for Any Reason Waiver) is available to all guests, regardless of residency (excluding permanent residents of the United Kingdom), and is a non-insurance feature provided by Holland America Line.

The Platinum Plan provides a 90% cancellation fee reimbursement and extends the cancellation waiver period up until the start of your scheduled travel arrangements made by Holland America Line. CPP Platinum's Cancel For Any Reason Waiver is a non-insurance feature provided by Holland America Line. The Platinum Plan also provides travel insurance coverage underwritten by Nationwide® for trip delays and interruptions, medical expenses and more. Worldwide 24-hour emergency assistance, non-insurance services provided by CareFree Travel AssistanceTM , are included as well. CPP Platinum is not available to residents of New York State, Quebec, British Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the United Kingdom.

If something comes up or I test positive for COVID-19 and I need to cancel before my cruise, am I protected?

Absolutely. Under Holland America Line's Cancel For Any Reason Waiver, no matter the reason, you can cancel by providing written cancellation notice up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line with CPP Standard (or right up to the start of your scheduled travel with CPP Platinum). What's more, you'll get a money back refund. Other programs may not refund cancellation fees if the reason for cancellation is not a "covered" claim.  Written cancellation notice should be sent to: Reservations, Holland America Line Inc., 450 Third Avenue West, Seattle, WA 98119. Cancellations may also be sent via email to [email protected] or faxed to 1-800-628-4855; please retain your fax confirmation.

Are my airfare and pre- and post-packages protected as well?

Yes. If you purchased Holland America Line's Flight Ease Plan and/or our pre-/post-packages, you'll get 80% of your air and package cancellation fees refunded when canceling up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (90% with CPP Platinum when canceling right up to the start of your scheduled travel). Any Future Air Credit generated by the airline will be owned solely by Holland America Line and cannot be redeemed.

If an emergency occurs during our trip, will I be able to see a doctor who speaks English?

If you have chosen CPP Platinum, you'll have access to a 24-hour emergency assistance hotline whose staff will refer you to local doctors who speak your language.

Does CPP Platinum cover my medical expenses if I become ill or should develop COVID-19 during my cruise?

Yes, if you become sick or a pre-existing condition suddenly worsens or becomes acute during your vacation, the plan provides reimbursement for eligible medical expenses for any illness, including COVID-19.

Are there exclusions? I have a history of back trouble. What if my back goes out on the trip and we have to cut it short?

There is no exclusion under the Platinum Plan for pre-existing conditions that cause a trip interruption or a medical expense-related claim.

Does CPP Platinum cover me if I am injured on shore?

Yes. You could be reimbursed up to $10,000 (USD) for covered emergency medical, surgical and dental care should you become sick or are accidentally injured while traveling.

What if I am isolated in my stateroom for part of my voyage due to COVID-19?

CPP Platinum provides reimbursement for any days that you are confined to your stateroom if the confinement is ordered by a medical professional.

What happens if I become ill and must leave the ship?

If you must disembark the ship for a covered reason, including COVID-19, and you incur extra expenses to get home in addition to the lost days of the cruise, CPP Platinum reimburses your covered expenses, up to 150% of your total vacation cost.

What is the cost for CPP?

The plan cost is based on the total cruise fare (including Alaska Tour Supplement) paid, and is the same price for all ages.

How do I enroll in the CPP Standard or CPP Platinum Plan?

The CPP Standard and Platinum Plans are optional. You may enroll by paying the appropriate plan cost in addition to the required cruise deposit payment.

When is payment for the plan due?

Either plan is available for purchase prior to the date on which cancellation fees begin to accrue. Payment for the plan is due at time of purchase. The plan cost is non-refundable once cancel fees begin to accrue.

When does the protection take effect?

The Cancel For Any Reason Waiver is in effect once you activate enrollment by purchasing the plan, up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line with CPP Standard, and up to the start of your scheduled travel with CPP Platinum. Other benefits and services provided with the Platinum Plan are effective once you depart on your trip.

Will I need to file a claim if I have to cancel?

No. If you cancel 24 hours before departure with the Standard Plan or prior to departure with the Platinum Plan, you do not need to file a claim. Holland America Line will reimburse 80% - 90% of the eligible amounts paid (minus the plan cost). Written cancellation notice should be sent to: Reservations, Holland America Line Inc., 450 Third Avenue West, Seattle, WA 98119. Cancellations may also be sent via email to  [email protected]  or faxed to 1-800-628-4855; please retain your fax confirmation.

How would I file a claim (for something that occurs while I was traveling) if I purchased the Platinum Plan?

Participating guests who incurred a loss while on their cruise vacation may initiate a claim at:  www.travelclaim.com .

  • Cancel Your Plan

If you need to cancel your health or dental plan, you can do so by  logging in to your Covered California account .

Covered California requires at least 14 days advance notice to process this request. It is strongly recommended that you request plan termination to be effective at the end of the month. For example, to end coverage on June 30, you would need to call Covered California by June 16 to request the cancellation of your plan.

It is not recommended to request a mid-month termination. This is because your health or dental insurance company is not obligated to refund prorated premiums. So if you call on June 1 and request to cancel your plan on June 15, your insurance company may not refund you for the remaining days of June.

Additionally, you may also have a gap in health coverage because your next health plan or dental plan will probably start on the first day of the next month. For these reasons, if you need to terminate your plan, it’s highly recommended to request a cancellation to be effective at the end of a month.

If you need to cancel your health or dental plan with fewer than 14 days advance notice, please call the Covered California Service Center at (800) 300-1506 or contact your health or dental insurance company directly. These requests are handled on a case-by-case basis.

If you need to cancel your vision plan, please call the vision insurance company directly.
