How To Reset Trip Odometer On BMW 5 Series?

. The most important stage is now coming up: how do you reset the daily odometer on a BMW 5 Series? Although this step is frequently simple to carry out, some of you, such as new owners of the BMW 5 Series, might not be familiar with how to go about doing it.

We will now examine the several methods for resetting the trip odometer on a BMW 5 Series to zero:

  • Hold down the right button on your dashboard for a few seconds until the trip odometer reads zero.
  • If this button is inoperable, you can reset the odometer on your BMW 5 Series by pressing the button at its end for a short period of time on the right counter clock.
  • Finally, on some of the more recent models, you might have to go via your car’s center console and display and configure it to zero.

3. To reset the trip odometer to its initial value, press and hold the RESET button for a few seconds.

4. When the RESET button needs to be released, the information bulb turns on. Within 4 seconds, press and release the RESET button on the trip odometer.

5. An audible indication that indicates a successful reset.

6. The RESET button must be held down for a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 14 seconds if the trip odometer has already been reset.

7. To make sure the indication has been reset, turn off the ignition and then turn on the engine.

On a BMW 1 Series, how do you reset the trip odometer?

Just below the speedometer on the dashboard, there is a small knob. The trip odometer will reset if you press it.

How can I clear the trip meter on my BMW?

Additionally, for about three seconds, hold down the “BC” button on the turn signal stalk (while the trip odo is showing). It’ll restart

On a BMW x3, how do you reset the odometer?

Push the button at the end of the turn signal stalk to raise the odometer, then hold the button down. My own is programmed to restart each time I refuel.

Where is the trip odometer reset button?

Using the lever on the left side of the steering wheel, reset the trip odometer. By depressing and holding the RESET button on the left-hand steering wheel lever, the trip odometer TM’s mileage, average fuel consumption, average speed, and driving time can all be reset.

On a BMW i3, how do you reset the trip meter?

I’ll start with the simple one. The driver information screen has a trip reset button on the LHS that can be used to reset the distance display to zero. To reset, the car needs electricity. The other trip-related data can also be reset in iDrive Settings.

You must tilt the iDrive controller to the left in order to access the information in the map display sidebar. Following that, you can scroll up and down and select options like auto-scrolling the map or traffic information. There is information accessible, such as information on traffic delays, if an indicator in the sidebar is highlighted in amber.

Through the iDrive Navigation Page, you may verify the version of your maps. Navigating to the Navigation system version will require opening the Settings submenu. BMW releases twice-yearly map updates, however they are only free for the first three years. You can check for price updates by going to your account in Connected Drive Home. The 30GB of maps must be downloaded to a computer and then moved to a 64GB USB device in order to update. Place the drive in the USB port underneath the armrest, then wait for it to load.

Asking a dealer to perform the update on your behalf can cost you a lot of money in labor.

By logging into your Connected Drive Account, you can also check the map version. pick Remote Cockpit, then Control, and then, on the RHS, slide down to Map Update. After reading that, it would seem that my map has to be updated!

On a BMW F10, how can you reset the trip?

I’m curious if anyone is aware of the issue with the 2011 5-series trip computer reset. The trip computer can occasionally become “frozen” and cannot be reset unless the car is entirely stopped, the engine is switched off, and then the engine is turned back on after some time. Approximately 10% of the time, this occurs. Although not a major problem, it can be frustrating when trying to check the trip statistics on the highway only to discover that it has broken.

Well, I was first curious about how to reset the one on the instrument cluster (maybe you’re referring to the same thing). The cluster trip never zeroed out despite my repeated attempts to reset the trip computer in my iDrive. How do I restart it? (sorry, did not have enough time to study the manual yet, but I thought I was doing it right…)

By pressing “Menu,” you can choose “Vehicle Info,” “Trip Computer,” and “Reset.” Normally, this ought to function whether the automobile is moving or not. The trip computer usually does not respond to the reset sequence when it freezes until the engine is shut off and then restarted after some time (turning the engine back on immediately does not generally work).

Mine was never destroyed (the one on the instrument cluster). It was stationary at 620 km, and as it gets closer to 900 km, it is just adding kilometers. I’ve gone through that process two or three times in an effort to get the damn thing to zero out. I reasoned that the iDrive operation merely deletes the iDrive car information and does not affect the trip odometer displayed on the speedometer panel. I’m beat…

Oh, and to reset the one on the instrument cluster, simply press the tiny button in its lower-left corner (near the gas gauge).

Oh, my God, how could I forget? I apologize, but my new vehicle orientation provided way too much information. I was aware that I couldn’t possible recall everything. I’m done now! Thanks one more.

How can the gas mileage on a BMW be reset?

Is there a method to reset the MPG and Ave MPH meters (on the dash) similarly to how you can reset the trip meter?

On the IDrive, you can calculate information for each trip, but I’d like to be able to estimate MPG/MPH for each tank fill-up. (and not each journey)

Naturally, I can determine my MPG based on the Miles Drive/Gallon filled at the gas station. I was simply curious as to if there was a way to have the Dash computer reset it each time I refuel. Although I tried depressing the reset needle, it didn’t seem to work.

I’m not sure how to reset Idrive, however in other vehicles, you do it by holding down the middle button on the turn signal stalk for a short period of time. On vehicles without iDrive, you can also reset it through the audio.

When you want to reset something (such as the average MPG or speed), repeatedly press the “BC” button on the turn-signal stalk, and then hold it down for two to three seconds.

Scroll down to MPG on your iDrive’s Car Data panel, then press the knob. It’ll restart at zero. Every time I fill up the tank, I do this to calculate my average MPG for the fresh tank. Push the button on the turn signal stalk to choose the average MPG to show in your instrument cluster, like someone else suggested.

How far are trips A and B on the odometer?

The mileage recorded on the trip odometer differs between Trip A and Trip B. You may determine how fuel-efficient your car is by using one to calculate the distance traveled between tank fill-ups and the other to calculate the distance traveled on each road trip.

Trip A and Trip B are not standard equipment on all vehicles, and vehicle owners occasionally select Trip A and Trip B for distinct purposes. Some specify Journey A for one driver’s trip and Trip B for another driver’s trip.

This may be a more effective method for figuring out the mileage for cars driven by a couple or other two persons. Resetting both trips multiple times will improve the accuracy of only one trip.

While Trip B calculates the distance between each oil change, Trip A might be used to calculate the distance between each refill. It largely is a matter of personal preference for the driver.

The tours can then be customized to meet your preferences. The most crucial step in maintaining precise and more accurate measurements and calculations is to keep track of what you set for both trips.

What place does the odometer have?

Owning an automobile necessitates maintenance and periodic inspection of specific components. The odometer, which shows how many miles a car has covered in its lifetime, is a crucial measure to keep an eye on. Although reading an odometer is very simple, if you have a more recent car with plenty of bells and whistles, such as a digital gauge cluster, it may be challenging to get the proper information. In order for you to use this tool to keep on top of your maintenance plan, we conducted research on where to find the odometer in your car and how to interpret what it is telling you.

Look for the little rectangle with typically five or six numbers in it to determine the reading of an odometer. It usually stands close to the speedometer. It might be digital if your car is more recent. If your car is more basic or older, the stats will be mechanical and physical. Simply note the number that is now visible once you’ve found it. This represents the total distance the vehicle has driven throughout its lifetime.

You undoubtedly have more inquiries regarding this tiny device now that you’ve located the odometer and noted the current reading. Please read on for more information about how odometers function, their significance, and their degree of accuracy in determining your vehicle’s mileage.

Let us first state that we hope you find the links provided here beneficial before you continue reading. We may receive a commission if you buy something after clicking on one of the links on this page, so thank you!

What does the car’s trip button do?

Your car’s trip computer maintains track of the time and mileage you’ve covered. Using the five-way controls on your steering wheel, you can access the trip computer’s various menu selections.

What is the BMW roller mode?

A supposedly Test stand mode or roller mode is not available on all vehicles. This is a unique mode for the brake test as well as for measuring test bench performance. For instance, if you drive a BMW car with the X Drive four-wheel drive off, the roll mode all-wheel drive on the front axle may be deactivated in particular circumstances. Or, to put it another way, just the rear axles are still powered. Additionally, all electronic aids like traction control and ESP are totally deactivated.

A power measurement is typically attainable in this mode without any issues, and the vehicle’s drive/power controls are not automatically made. A pure test result is also actionable. The role mode is frequently activated through a secret menu in BMW automobiles. As an illustration, take the BMW F30 335i. When you push the trip meter reset button on this car for a long time, the unique menu appears.

Random question - i have a 2010 335D with iDrive. The car also has the basic digital information information in the gauge cluster as well. I'm curious how to reset the trip miles readout in the gauge cluster. Holding in the button on the end of the turn signal stalk doesn't seem to do it. Anybody know? iDrive also has an entire screen dedicated to trip details, but that is independent of the trip mileage on the dash.

Isn't there a button on the cluster itself like every other car, or is the 335d missing that?

BMW changed the way the trip meters get reset sometime after the early years. The old bikes have the rubber button to the right of the panel to toggle and reset. The newer ones use the menu and scroll wheel to toggle and reset.

If memory serves me correctly, the thumb wheel only resets the fuel mileage. There are two to choose from. I use one for fill up to fill up. The other I use for the long haul.

Tapping the button scrolls through trips and holding down the button for a couple seconds clears it. At least that what I remember from my 2013…..agree with alta drifter

The higher the mountains tower around us, the more we start looking forward to the discoveries this mountainous world holds. We take our time along the way, for example, for a stop in Val de Funes. This valley in the South Tyrolean Alps has an east-west length of 24 kilometres and is quieter than the neighbouring valleys, where there are more tourists. Our route takes us along blooming mountain valleys and through small villages until we reach Puez-Geisler Nature Park at the end of the valley. This region has wonderful views in store, as well as inviting huts for hikers. The hiking trail Alta Via Dolomiti no. 2, which is 185 kilometres long, also runs through the park and offers fantastic opportunities for varied hikes and climbs in addition to cultural highlights.

Our next stop is the small village Carezza on the eponymous lake. Its impressive colours have also earned it the name “Rainbow Lake”. We didn’t meet the mermaid who, according to a legend, lives in the lake; however, the beauty of small Lake Carezza – 300 metres long and 130 metres wide – was impressive enough as it was. It takes about 20 minutes to walk around the lake.

FOUR PASSES, ONE TRIP.

Image 1

Sella Pass, one of the most spectacular passes in the Alps, awaits us. With a length of 53.4 kilometres, it takes us up to the top of the pass at 2,240 metres above sea level. It is one of four passes that make up the round trip around the Sella Group massif known as the Sellaronda. In the winter, we could manage the Sellaronda on skis in about six hours, and in summer it is equally popular among motorists, motorcyclists and cyclists. The 66-kilometre trip takes about two hours by car or motorcycle. Very fit cyclists should plan at least 5 hours.

Gardener Pass, or Passo Gardena in Italian, follows on it heels and spirals up to a height of 2,121 metres, impressing us with a fantastic view of four massifs at once: the Pizes de Cir in the north, the summits of Badia Valley in the east, the Sella Group in the south and Langofel in the west. Gardener Pass is also one of the four passes in the Sellaronda. Many hiking trails and climbing trips start here. There is limited parking available, so we recommend arriving early.

HIGHLIGHT: GARDENER PASS.

DAY #2: OVER FALZAREGO PASS – 141 KILOMETRES.

Falzarego-Pass

The most direct route to the next hotel would be only a bit over 50 kilometres long. But if we took that, we would miss some gorgeous sites: The longer route’s 141 kilometres are also easily manageable and allow time for excursions. First we’ll drive over Falzarego Pass with its 38 hairpin curves. But we don’t want to drive up and back down in one go: we’d much rather enjoy the view of Marmolada, the highest mountain of the Dolomites which towers up to a height of 3,343 metres and is covered in glaciers. The Cinque Torri (“Five Towers”) are five strikingly shaped buttes we can see to the south.

Image 1

Next, we’ll get the wonderful curves of the 2,233-metre-high Giau Pass under our wheels. The view during this rough section of the Dolomites with rugged cliff faces is astounding.

OFF TO THE PEAKS.

Another place that is worth a stop is gorgeous Lake Misurina, which is one kilometre long and 300 meters wide, but only five metres deep at most. From Lake Misurina, you can catch a glimpse of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (“Three Peaks of Lavaredo”), which are among the most sought-after climbing cliffs in the Alps and one of the most famous emblems of the Dolomites. We had to decide whether to get up early or come in the afternoon. That’s the only way we have a chance of getting a free parking space at Rifugio Auronzo hut, which is usually extremely crowded the rest of the day. After walking 30 minutes, we reach the outlook point Cadini di Misurina, which is also an ideal place for a sundowner.

ACTIVE YET TRANQUIL: 5-STAR HOTEL ALPEN TESITIN.

-Sterne-Hotel Alpen Tesitin

We’re spending the night in the 5-star hotel Alpen Tesitin. The family-managed luxury hotel is in tranquil surroundings yet close to various active adventures. We enjoy the exceptional food – traditional dishes with international influences – and visit the hotel’s own panorama indoor swimming pool. The outdoor pool is heated to 34 degrees and can be reached through a double door, so guests can swim here with a view of the Dolomites all year long.

DAY #3: FROM LAKE PRAGS TO ALTFASSTAL VALLEY – 185 KILOMETRES.

The best of the beautiful..

Image 1

After breakfast, we head straight for another highlight on this route: Lake Prags, or Lago di Braies in Italian, is located in the middle of a romantic mountain basin and is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. It takes about an hour to walk around the lake on foot. You can let a wooden boat there as an alternative. There’s going to be a special traffic regulation from 10 July to 10 September 2024: during this period, you can reach Pragser Valley between 9.30 am and 4.00 pm only using public transit, on foot, by cycle or – with an advance online reservation – by car.

A ROAD WITHOUT TRAFFIC.

Lüsen-Tal.

Now we head through Toblach Valley and past the earth pyramids of Platten and St. Martin in Thurn to Würzjoch Pass. This pass is 1,982 metres high and takes us through very different landscapes. In the south, the slopes of Würzjoch located in Puez-Geisler Nature Park climb to Peitlerkofel Mountain; in the north, you can marvel at the mountain meadows, which are full of colourful blossoms in the spring. You don’t want to miss the drive via Lüsen, also known as Wandertal, German for “Hiking Valley”, owing its name to the many different trails. A very narrow and isolated road with nearly no traffic runs through this valley. It’s both wild and romantic!

4-STAR TRATTERHOF MOUNTAIN SKY HOTEL: FIRED UP FOR SAUNAS.

4-Sterne-Hotel Tratterhof

Our hotel for the night is the 4-star Tratterhof Mountain Sky Hotel. It’s located at the entrance to Altfasstal Valley at an altitude of 1,500 metres, and we admire the marvellous view of the forest and Dolomites. After that, we take some time to relax in the hotel’s wellness area, which covers 4,000 square metres and features eight saunas, two infinity pools and much more. It gives us an oasis of tranquillity before we return to Munich the next morning.

DAY #4: From ALTFASSTAL VALLEY TO MUNICH – 235 KILOMETRES.

Luscious luxury..

On the fourth day, we drive back to Munich via Innsbruck and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The Dolomites provide an impressive setting of dramatic cliff formations and idyllic Alpine valleys that delight all nature lovers. The wide range of activities in this region promise unforgettable experiences, whether you choose to hike, climb, ski or – like us – drive to discover the spectacular curves and mountain passes, which are among the most beautiful in the world. A visit to the Dolomites combines enjoyment of nature with cultural highlights, luxury and the culinary delights of South Tyrolean cuisine.

WELL PLANNED.

During this road trip through the Dolomites, you must keep in mind that many mountain passes are closed in the winter. These winter closures normally last from October/November to May/June. Additional fees may be due for certain sections of the trip.

EXPERIENCE M ROUTES.

BMW M Routes are more than just road trips – they promise unforgettable experiences. The trips combine luxury, gourmet cuisine and driving pleasure to create incomparable moments. Pack your bags and immerse yourself in the marvellous world of the Alps and freedom on four wheels.

Luxury at sea: First ride on the all-electric TRIDENTE boat from Maserati and Vita Power [Video]

Avatar for Scooter Doll

Part of my recent trip to Northern Italy with Maserati included a riveting cruise around Lake Maggiore on the all-electric TRIDENTE boat. Designed by Maserati and propelled by Vita Power, this luxury day boat is as swanky as it is fast… and comes with a price tag to match.

Earlier this month, I packed up my passport, some white sneakers, and my sunglasses for a trip to Lake Maggiore in Italy, located about an hour and a half Northwest of Milan, near the border of Switzerland.

That is where I got the chance to test drive Maserati’s latest BEV model, the GranCabrio Folgore. You can check out those driving impressions and review video here , but another aspect of that trip included an up-close look at Maserati’s first all-electric boat, the TRIDENTE.

We got our first official look at the all-electric day boat in Puglia this last April during Maserati’s “Folgore Day,” where it officially debuted the previously mentioned GranCabrio EV. At the time, we learned that the 10.5-meter boat was conceived as a collaboration between Maserati and  Vita Power .

The boat was merely on display inside the event center , and we only got some brief specs, but seeing it up close was still a marvel. At the time, we were promised we would soon be able to test drive the GranCabrio Folgore and the TRIDENTE in Italy, and Maserati quickly made good on its word. Check out my video below to see the Maserati TRIDENTE electric boat in action.

Maserati’s first electric boat is stunning… and expensive

After a brief walkthrough with the GranCabrio Folgore, we strolled down the coast of Lake Maggiore to a dock where the all-electric TRIDENTE awaited our arrival. Maserati’s global head of design, Klaus Busse, was there with us, walking us around the boat. Per Busse:

TRIDENTE is a luxury all-electric powerboat that extends Maserati’s electrification  strategy from the road to the water, born from Maserati’s collaboration with marine  technology company Vita Power. Maserati and Vita Power share the same vision on  electrification and both build the vehicles of the future, based on reduced  environmental impact, improved customer experience, advanced technology, high  quality and sophisticated materials. Our creations are both finished to the highest  standards of craftmanship, enhanced by beautiful and functional design, without  sacrificing performance and elegance. Maserati Folgore is the standard bearer of  our full electric production, and we are proud to extend our new course to the sea,  collaborating with a company synonymous with passion, excellence and luxury in  the new electric era.

My first impressions of the vessel are how sleek and manicured it is—a design genuinely worthy of the Maserati logo (which is abundant throughout). The boat features luxury yacht materials from US boatbuilder Hodgdon Yachts and an advanced powertrain from Vita Power, complete with dual electric motors.

Those motors are powered by a 252 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, enabling future owners to cruise for up to 43 miles on a single charge, depending on your speed. Speaking of speed, the TRIDENTE can cruise at 25 knots (~29 mph) and reach a top speed of 40 knots (46 mph).

Vita Power’s technology also enables DC fast charging (where available), allowing the Maserati boat to recharge from 10-90% in under an hour. Other features include room for eight passengers, a rear sundeck, and a lower cabin complete with a bed and sink.

My impression of the TRIDENTE is that it is a well-designed boat with plenty of room for passengers to cruise comfortably. As an all-electric model, the TRIDENTE is both smooth and quiet, especially at low speeds.

However, when you get it out on open water, you’ll want to grab hold of something because its instant acceleration and up to 600 hp cannot be denied. This expands its capabilities as a leisurely day boat into a certified speeder if you need to get somewhere fast—or if you just want to show off.

Speaking of showing off, this all-electric Maserati boat is definitely more of a status symbol than anything, as it starts at 2.5 million euros ($2.86 million). The TRIDENTE is on sale now, but the one I rode on is currently the only one in existence. I’m sure we will see more in the future; however, I’d expect only a select few buyers around the world will buy one.

Until then, check out my experience on the Maserati day boat in the video below.

Why is my car losing the time/date/trip meter settings?

bmw trip meter

  • Add to quote

I don't drive my car a lot, but I do try to start it every other day and drive it once a week. It always starts right up without a problem. I will start my car and it will show the correct time. Then, I will start my car again (maybe 60 minutes later) and it will give me a message to reset the time. Sometimes, I will need to reset the date as well. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to lose the time when I start the car every other day. It only seems to lose it when it is started again a short time later. Today, I started the car to move it out of the garage to wash it and the time was fine. When I started it again to put it back in the garage an hour later, I had to reset the time. When it loses the time, it also always loses the mileage on the trip meter. What is causing this to happen? Thanks in advance for your help.

Might be either a low battery or IBS problem. Tom

I am out of warranty, but I do have the BMW Platinum extended warranty. I am fairly sure it won't cover the battery, but I wonder if it will cover the IBS (if that is indeed the problem). I have attached a copy of the brochure for the warranty which lists what is covered. Can someone more knowledgeable that I am with matters like this let me know if the warranty would cover the IBS? Thanks.

These cars are battery hogs Unless you are doing several hours on the highway every week ,on a highway that isn't congested you will not be putting any charge back in the battery. The car is , as is the case with a lot of modern cars always using some electricity, even when parked. It's a good idea to get a battery tender and use it a couple of times a month to keep the battery in good health. Also locking the car and keeping the fob away from it will let the car go into sleep mode where it will use less electricity between drives. When you wash the car with the Fob in your pocket it keeps a lot of stuff powered up and awake because the fob is in range and drains the battery .
