London based indie pop artist Alex Amor released her latest single “Time To Smile” , a feel good anthem for positivity and pushing through the bad times.
“Time to Smile” has a simple premise: bad things will happen, but there’s always a good reason to be happy. Amor doesn’t negate the difficulties that arise in life, she offers the listener an invitation to regroup, take a deep breath and smile. The song is uplifting, emotional, and relatable; it’s like a comforting hug that helps you shake off the sadness.
The energetic melody is immediately inspiring, with a soft drum beat that explodes in the chorus. The track subtly incorporates some electronic elements to accentuate the positive vibes in the lyrics, while also adding to the bubbly atmosphere it evokes. It’s impossible not to sing along and, well, smile.

REVIEW: Scottish singer songwriter Alex Amor's captivating debut EP, "Love Language"
During the summer of 2018, Alex Amor withdrew herself from society and dedicated every second of her time to creating. She recounts this time as "wholly liberating," saying that it taught her patience and "the power of delayed gratification."
Amor's Love Language EP was one of the results of this period of intense creativity. The body of work as a whole is all about the complexities of romantic relationships - how, sometimes, both parties (or neither) are at fault for their destruction, how difficult it can be sometimes to communicate with one another. Communication is, most of the time, the driving force for relationships. If you can't talk to your partner about what you do or don't want/need/like, what can you do?
The first track on the EP, "The Part with Each Other," is slow and languid - dwelling, almost, on the nights that Alex describes in her lyrics, where she and her lover are together and can't ever imagine a moment when they're apart.
"Prove Me Right" has the makings of an instant pop classic. The instrumental track blew me away when I first heard it - so simple, yet so spectacular.
The third track on the EP is "Motion," a track which seems to be about that point in a relationship when you find yourself going through the motions. When being with your partner becomes exhausting and almost routine-like, rather than exciting or comforting. When you realize that you no longer want to be with this person, but you let it go on longer than you should because you don't want to hurt them. When Amor crooned "Blame it on bad timing / But, baby, maybe I'm / Always destined to be dissatisfied" into my ears for the first time, my mouth dropped in shock - I felt so seen.
Title track "Love Language" reflects back on that main theme of communication - if you communicate differently from your partner, rather than not at all, is that somehow worse?
"So Far" reminds me a little of early Taylor Swift, and as a closing track, it's really quite beautiful - it wraps the EP up perfectly, the lyrics a callback of sorts to track three's theme of giving up the gun, but only after you're too deep in it.
On the EP, Amor says, “Love Language, is a reference to Gary Chapman's book ‘The Five Love Languages’ which expands on the 5 different ways humans show affection in a relationship. The title track is about a relationship that fails to align in that way. Opposites can sometimes attract but in this case, they repel. I am obsessed with paradox and juxtaposition - calm and chaos, dark and light, serious and playful.”
For a five-track EP - and for Alex Amor's debut - Love Language is an incredibly moving, cohesive body of work. I've been sitting on this review since the EP's release simply because I truly couldn't find the words to explain how it makes me feel, because, honestly, I have quite a bit to learn from what Alex Amor has to say about love and its many intricacies. If you're looking for new, refreshing pop music, look no further than Alex Amor. There's no doubt in my mind she's got so much more to give us.

Alex Amor - Super Sonic
A showcase of sorts for alex amor, with a handful of slightly different directions taken..
Reviewer: Jessie Brown
Released: 3rd november 2023, label: young poet.
Although not her first extended release - she’s been bubbling under for some years now - ‘Super Sonic’ is a showcase of sorts for Alex Amor , with a handful of slightly different directions taken - and in turn, various results. Best of the bunch is ‘Like The First Time’, which takes the Scottish singer-songwriter’s obvious knack for a pop chorus - the one factor that plays into every song on the seven-track release - and pairs it with some Jack Antonoff-style synthy production that lands somewhere between ‘1989’ and Ellie Goulding’s early singles.
The disco bassline of ‘Wandering Eyes’ similarly hints ambitiously, while the bittersweet ‘Time To Smile’ is an enjoyable slice of summery alt-pop. If there’s a criticism, it’s that it all seems a little one-note: some oomph in the production to give more power to her smart choruses wouldn’t go amiss, while the Mac DeMarco-like guitar sound of the title track and later ‘Losing Me’ jars against the radio-friendly sound of the rest of the EP and wouldn’t be missed.

Alex Amor – ‘Bad Tattoo’
Alex amor releases her new single, ‘bad tattoo,’ and announces her new ep the art of letting go.
July 6, 2022
Glaswegian singer-songwriter Alex Amor releases an upbeat and vibrant track, ‘Bad Tattoo.’
Scottish sing-songwriter Alex Amor, fresh off the road after supporting Thomas Headon on his recent UK tour, has released an upbeat and vibrant new track, ‘Bad Tattoo.’ The track produced by Gianluca Buccellati (known for his work on Arlo Parks’ Mercury Prize-winning album Collapsed In Sunbeams ) also comes with news of a new EP dropping in mid-October entitled The Art Of Letting Go .
Written with Manchester indie-folk group The Deep Blue ‘Bad Tattoo’ swirls with the recollection of a relationship gone bad.
Speaking on the lyrical inspiration of the track, Alex said:
“‘Bad Tattoo’ was written about a time when I wanted to forget someone. They kept making unwanted appearances in my thoughts across the day: while I was walking home, doing chores, lying in bed awake at night. I find it bizarre how it’s much easier to forget the good times but impossible to forget the bad times. It seems that our worst memories are stored somewhere deep inside of us and as much as I wanted to erase this person from my head, they persisted on my skin like a bad tattoo. Like one of those drunken tattoos you get in Ibiza at 3 am and regret for the rest of your life.”
Alex Amor’s new single ‘Bad Tattoo’ is out now. The Art Of Letting Go is set for release on 14th October via Young Poet.

Popular conservative host Tucker Carlson is planning a nationwide speaking tour this September featuring a range of newsmakers and political leaders leading up to Election Day .
Carlson announced his plans Monday morning and shared the full schedule with The Daily Signal, which is partnering with Tucker Carlson Live to provide our subscribers with early access to tickets starting Tuesday (details below).
Since launching Tucker Carlson Network last year, the former Fox News host has amassed a huge audience for his video interviews, podcast episodes, and social media posts. He now plans to build on that success with a 15-city tour at some of America’s most recognizable sports arenas.
“I can’t wait to take our show on the road in cities across America,” Carlson said in a statement to The Daily Signal. “We’re going to be talking about real issues with real people. You’d better believe the Establishment will be losing their minds.”
The Sept. 4 kickoff of Carlson’s tour will afford him an opportunity to comment on the latest developments of the 2024 presidential election and interview a wide range of guests, many of whom are household names or recognizable personalities from Tucker Carlson Network.
Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene , R-Ga., will join Carlson for the Sept. 26 stop at Bon Secours Arena in Greenville, S.C. Heritage previously sponsored Carlson’s live State of the Union special in March.
Carlson’s stops will feature actors Roseanne Barr and Russell Brand; musician Kid Rock; former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ; media personalities Glenn Beck, Dan Bongino, Alex Jones, and Megyn Kelly; and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s son, will close the tour Sept. 28 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Tickets go on sale starting Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster . Daily Signal subscribers will be able to purchase tickets tomorrow using a special code. Subscribe to our Morning Bell email newsletter or follow @DailySignal on X to receive the code Tuesday morning.

Youth Orchestras of San Antonio tours Germany
Yosa’s germany tour is the group’s first international trip since 2018.

SAN ANTONIO – Some of San Antonio’s youngest and best orchestra players are gracing German audiences with their talent this week.
Evelyn Lee is part of a group of musicians with the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) touring Germany.
Recommended Videos
“I’ve never been to Europe, and it’ll be really fun to travel with my friends and get through the tour experience, like performing in more venues around the world and just being, like, in a different country. I’m super excited,” Lee said days before her trip.
She said the audition process was difficult, but it’s helped her grow and gain experience.
“With all the opportunities that YOSA has given me, it’s challenged me to be more proactive and also, like, interpersonal skills, like engaging with professionals,” Lee said.
Troy Peters, music director of YOSA, said it’s the first time the group has been out of the country since 2018.
The group will go to Berlin and other German cities. About 60 members from the 500-member group are on the trip.
“The goal for YOSA is for young musicians to get a bigger sense of what’s possible for them so that they gain an understanding of their own potential,” Peters said.
Most won’t ever become professional orchestra players, but the experiences they gain will be with them as adults.
“They get better at asserting themselves and moving through life with determination and strength,” he said.
YOSA offers three weeks of summer camps for anyone interested in the program. Find more information about next year’s camp here.

‘It’s a Revenge Tour!’ Axios Political Reporter Marvels At Trump Trying to Take Out House Freedom Caucus Chair
A xios political reporter Hans Nichols joined a CNN panel on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming Virginia primaries, in which House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA) is fending off a stiff challenge backed by both former President Donald Trump and ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
“Congressman Bob Good won his Virginia House district by 15 points in 2022. Just two years ago, he chairs the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus. And yet, he may be on the verge of getting a pink slip from Republican constituents in his ruby red district. Now, why have they turned against him? It could have something to do with this,” began anchor Dana Bash before showing a clip of Goode’s floor speech voting to oust McCarthy last October.
“That was Good speaking about Kevin McCarthy, just before he joined seven other Republicans in ousting the now former speaker. But it could go back even further to this decision from last spring,” Bash continued, introducing another clip.
“Just want to congratulate and thank Governor Ron DeSantis. America is hungry for courageous conservative leadership, and that’s on display nowhere else like it is in the state of Florida,” Good says in the clip.
“Now. Donald Trump endorsed Good’s challenger, John McGuire , and campaigned for Maguire last night in a tell-a rally just ahead of today’s primary,” Bash added, before playing a clip of Trump bashing Good:
Yeah, if he’s reelected, Bob Good will stab Virginia in the back, sort of like he did with me. As you probably know, he was against me for numerous years. And then, after I won the primaries, he became a big fan. But, that’s not good enough, because those are the people that they tend to leave you very quickly.
Bash then turned to Nichols for his take who joked about them both wearing tan suites and added:
Look, this is so clear what’s happening. For those of us that follow politics and, are interested in it, there’s such a personal dynamic here. And, I suppose I should do the throw-clearing and say, well, let voters decide. But, boy, we all know what this is about. It’s about Donald Trump. And his, lots of it is revenge. And it’s a revenge tour!
“And Kevin McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy. Yeah, yeah,” joked the rest of the panel.
CNN’s Lauren Fox added, “Yeah. He picked to be on the wrong side of multiple people here. Right. And Donald Trump it’s so interesting because he endorsed DeSantis. His whole argument was he wanted DeSantis to be president because he believed that it gave the Republicans a clear path for not just four more years, but potentially eight more years. And then as soon as he was out of the race, that statement that he supported Donald Trump came very close.”

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones cut from Fiserv Forum event with Tucker Carlson
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been dumped from a September event at Fiserv Forum featuring former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson following heavy criticism.
The website for Carlson's tour now says the Sept. 16 event in Milwaukee will feature Carlson "with special guest TBA."
The news that Jones had been cut was first reported by conservative radio host Mark Belling .
The arena's social media accounts originally said Tuesday that both Carlson and Infowars founder Jones were coming to Fiserv Forum. But by late afternoon that day, the caption on Fiserv's Instagram post had been edited to remove mention of Jones. Its post on the social platform X had been deleted.
Carlson's tour website initially still said Jones would join him as his special guest in Milwaukee. But as of Thursday afternoon, Jones' name was gone.
Fiserv Forum officials could not be reached immediately for comment Thursday. They previously declined requests for interviews and directed questions to a staffer for Carlson, who did not respond to a request for comment.
The announcement that Jones was being featured at the Milwaukee tour stop was met with backlash on social media, with many particularly upset the venue would host Jones, who was ordered by a judge to pay $1.5 billion to Sandy Hook victims' families after he promoted conspiracy theories that the elementary school shooting was a hoax.
Extremism experts warned of the dangers of amplifying the voices of conspiracy theorists like Jones, who used his Infowars show to promote theories like "Pizzagate," which falsely accused Hillary Clinton of being involved in a child sex trafficking ring in the basement of a pizzeria, or claims that yogurt company Chobani was "importing migrant rapists ," which he later retracted to resolve a defamation lawsuit.
Jon Lewis, research fellow for George Washington University's Program on Extremism , said when theorists like Jones are platformed at popular venues like Fiserv Forum, their views and rhetoric becomes increasingly normalized.
"All it does is create the conditions for violence," Lewis said.
Lewis said it is important to note that Jones and Carlson remain close. On Thursday, Jones posted several clips of an "exclusive" interview with Carlson in which the former Fox News host spoke about the country living through a "totalitarian moment" and plots to "extinguish humanity."
"Even though Jones is the more overtly conspiratorial of the two ... Carlson is certainly not shying away from the conspiracy theories here," Lewis said.
Research by the National Institute of Justice found that the number of far-right attacks continues to outnumber all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism.
Carlson will be making more than a dozen stops on his tour, with different guests in each city. His guests include Marjorie Taylor Green, Donald Trump Jr., and Megyn Kelly.
His stop in Milwaukee is scheduled between the 2024 Republican National Convention in July and the presidential election in November.
