As next of kin cancelling policy
As next of kin, I had to cancel a membership for an elderly relative who has Alzheimers and Dementia. The chap on the phone, Christopher was so helpful and understanding and heled me through the process. He showed a perfect example of customer service. A credit to the AA team

Absolutely awful company to deal with
Absolutely awful company to deal with. I notified them a number of times of my wishes to cancel the insurance. Three emails and numerous attempts on the phone. Girl called Nicole in customer care has stopped responding when I cancelled the insurance. Never ever again will I have anything to do with the AA. I'm contacting ombudsman.

Trying to cancel my car insurance
Trying to cancel my car insurance! Impossible to contact this disgraceful company... they do that in purpose so you get tired and give up.... They charged the car insurance that was canceled... they never returned my deposit. Horrible company to deal with. Never... never want to do anything with AA ever again!!!! Shame on you AA...

Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless! Signed up recently. Car breaks down and won’t turn back on. I ring the AA and give the guy on the phone my membership number (which should be active). He spends ~20 mins with me on hold says he can’t find my account and transfers me over to Memberships. They do absolutely nothing for me as it’s close to 6pm and they can’t help find my account now. Phone call over and I’m left stranded with a broken down car after spending over half an hour on hold to them.

Every time try and call them wait time over one hour and still no answer The service is good via email if you can wait a week for a reply My daughter got a new car and was really stressed to not be able get a reply on phone and live chat was one reply every ten mins It is not acceptable for how much money it costs for insurance I was going to renew but both of us are not wanting to deal with this problem I had car and van plus my daughter car and I wanted quote home insurance but was double other quotes and we both have breakdown but is so disappointing All 5 calls exactly same happened .. who can wait over one hour with the phone tied up on hold
I applied for European breakdown cover…
I applied for European breakdown cover over one month ago and even though my bank card has been charged I haven't received any confirmation of any sort. I tried to contact them via email and phone to get this resolved, but it's as if there is no one working there.

Ciaran from AA Cork is a star
Ciaran from AA Cork/Mitchelstown turned up in a timely manner in Charleville with great good humour, and fixed my self-caused problem putting the wrong fuel in the tank. He really saved my bacon. He did such a thorough job too and didn’t let me away without a test drive despite my impatience! Very impressive! Thank you again.

USELESS - Avoid at all costs
USELESS. Renewed my motor policy again this year. Had to battle with them for best price, original quote was 40% higher than the one they finally gave me. Robbers. Changed underwriters for this and was assured the old policy gets cancelled. Id did NOT. When I followed up they apologized for the oversight and told me it was now actioned. One month later a payment is taken from my bank for what appears to be a cancellation charge for the policy they assured me was cancelled when I moved underwriters. Currently on hold (47mins now- which is the norm, they have a pre-recording when you ring that always says our phone lines are exceptionally busy at the moment, HIRE MORE STAFF!!!!) to get a refund and resolution. USELESS customer service. Avoid at all costs, I have home, car and travel insurance with them and AA cover - I will have no business with them in the future. Absolutely atrocious customer service.
Ciaran in Cork came to our assistance…
Ciaran in Cork came to our assistance yesterday in Carrigaline when our Company Car was leaking Oil. He was prompt, very efficient and couldn't have been more helpful. We have been members of AA roadside assistance for years and would have no hesitation in recommending their service.

Have to give credit to Derek
Have to give credit to Derek, who is very helpful and responsible in March. He helped me jumpstart my car, which has been parked nearly 2 weeks in a shopping center, and did a test drive afterwards, Derek tested my battery making sure it’s a good condition before he went. He also offered to follow me to my garage. I am very happy with the assistance I have received.

Best experience.
I had a great experience with Charley who helped me get to understanding of my renewal policy, how to set up my membership for the new year, got me a great price for my insurance. She was beyond helpful I asked her to give me a call back the following two weeks once I had thought about my renewal policy and then the following week to help me pay my insurance I couldn’t recommend her anymore. She is very helpful, kind and understanding. Great person and wonderful at her job.

The worst experience with AA in my life
I call to pick up my car and drop it to garage . In an hour they set some one will be ther my car was on the middle of the road for 12 hours
Waiting on the phone for 40 mins today…
Waiting on the phone for 40 mins today and yesterday. It's urgent that I call but nobody answers the phone. Chat cuts me off. I've just about given up, I need to pay my arrears but looks like I'll be going elsewhere if they done respond to my email. The poor service means a loss of serval hundreds for the AA now.

Great service from Kieren
Broke down late last night on the M8 northbound 6k before the toll plaza, called my insurance breakdown assist, got called back but Kieren from Mitchelstown minutes later and he was there in 20 minutes , went above and beyond to do a short term repair , spoke to my mechanic and followed me until my own mechanic arrived. Great Customer Service
I had a few queries about an online quote so I phoned AA and spoke with Katie. She was very patient while I went through my list of queries before she answered all of them in detail, explaining all the options available to me in very clear and simple language. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Katie-she made the whole process of buying my new insurance policy as hassle free as possible

Reply from The AA Ireland
Thanks for the great review Cat!
AA car insurance.
Got call back from Sib (apologies on the spelling) after looking for online quote. Was very polite and informative. Discussed my option including discount for policy if I added AA Membership went through all the figures but wasn’t pushy in making me take membership. Purchased policy for the year. A+ customer service.

AA Ireland travel insurance policies explained
Published 19th January 2022 Read Time 3 min
When purchasing AA Annual or Single Trip Travel Insurance , there are three different policy options available; Value, Essential or Extra. Depending on the option you choose, the price of your insurance and the level of cover for things such as medical expenses, delayed departure or lost baggage will vary.
AA Value Travel Insurance
A Value Travel Insurance policy will be the most affordable level of cover and is available to anyone up to the age of 64. While this policy is more affordable it includes a lower level of cover across the board, including for emergency medical expenses (up to €3,000,000), personal accident (up to €15,000), missed departure (up to €500). If you’re travelling on a budget or only going on a short trip abroad, however, Value Travel Insurance may be right for you.
AA Essential Travel Insurance
Essential Travel Insurance comes at a slightly higher cost but covers anyone up to 79 years old. As well as this, you’ll receive a higher level of cover than you would with a value policy, including cover for emergency medical expenses up to €5,000,000 instead of €3,000,000 and up to €800 for missed departure. If you’re between 64 and 79 Essential Travel Insurance will be the most affordable option available to you. Meanwhile, younger customers should also consider an Essential policy if they’re likely to be abroad for more than a short period.
AA Extra Travel Insurance
Extra Travel Insurance will provide the highest level of cover for your time abroad and is does not have an upper age limit. Under this policy emergency medical expenses are covered up to €10,000,000, delayed or lost baggage up to €3,000 and missed departure up to €1,000. While an Extra policy will be slightly more expensive, because it offers the highest level of coverage it’s best suited for those who regularly travel or are likely to be abroad for a lengthy period.
How do the cover options vary in terms of cost?
Of the three policy options available a Value policy will be the most affordable, with Essential and Extra costing slightly more. However, when you take into account the additional cover you’re provided under these policy types it may be worth paying a little more depending on your needs. For example, AA Annual Value cover is available from €24.99 and covers one adult under 50 travelling to Europe, holding private medical insurance. Meanwhile, Single Trip Value is available from *€17 for an adult under 50 travelling to Europe for a duration of 3 days, holding private medical insurance.* Planning a trip abroad? AA Annual Travel Insurance is available online from just €24.99. *Prices correct as of 31/01/2022. For our Coronavirus Need to Know FAQ see here .
