Turnpike Troubadours will perform at Fiserv Forum on Friday, Dec. 15 with special guests Ian Munsick and The Wild Feathers, proudly presented by Mammoth. 

Turnpike Troubadours formed in 2005, assembling a lineup that eventually included frontman Evan Felker, lead guitarist Ryan Engleman, fiddle player Kyle Nix, bassist R.C. Edwards, drummer Gabe Pearson and steel guitar and accordion player Hank Early. Their debut album, Bossier City , was released in 2007 and the first of five studio albums the group would release. Their self-titled 2015 album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 and was in the Top 5 on the U.S. Country, Folk, Rock and Indie charts. 2017’s A Long Way from Your Heart would peak at number 3 on the Billboard Top Country chart.

In 2019, the band announced their indefinite hiatus. Two years later, in Nov. 2021, the band teased their return and shortly after started announcing new shows starting in 2022, including two sold out dates at Red Rocks and an appearance at Bonnaroo.

The band’s new album “A Cat In The Rain” will be released on all platforms on Aug. 25 and features the singles “Mean Old Sun,” “Chipping Mill” and “Brought Me.”

It’s almost time for the Turnpike Troubadours with special guests Ian Munsick and The Wild Feathers! We can’t wait to see you at Fiserv Forum tomorrow, December 15! Doors open at 6:00 pm with the show beginning at 7:00 pm with The Wild Feathers and Ian Munsick, followed by Turnpike Troubadours. The Ticketmaster Box Office opens at noon.

Turnpike Troubadours Announce New Shows In Missouri And Kansas With Muscadine Bloodline & Morgan Wade

Two of the best independent bands in country music right now at one show? Sign me the hell up.

Turnpike Troubadours announced three new shows today, including an appearance at the inaugural Palomino Festival in Pasadena, California.

In addition, the band will be bringing their comeback tour to St. Louis, Missouri and Bonner Springs, Kansas. And they’re bringing a hell of a lineup with them for these shows.

Turnpike will be joined by Old 97’s and Muscadine Bloodline at The Factory at the District in St. Louis on August 19. And on August 20, they’ll be at Azura Amphitheater in Kansas, again with Muscadine Bloodline, and this time they’re also bringing along Gov’t Mule and Morgan Wade.

I absolutely love that Muscadine Bloodline is going to be on the road with Turnpike. It’s a pairing that just makes sense as “outsiders” in the mainstream country music scene, and especially after the killer album that Muscadine Bloodline dropped earlier this year,  Dispatch to 16th Ave.

And what’s there to say about Morgan Wade that hasn’t already been said. She’s just a phenomenal talent and her debut album,  Reckless,  just proves that the sky’s the limit – so it’s pretty cool seeing her get the opportunity to hit the road with acts like Turnpike and Luke Combs, who she’ll be opening for on his stadium tour this summer.

We said it the past few years, but country music needed Turnpike to come back and save it.

And with lineups like this, it seems like that’s exactly what they’re trying to do.

Seeing a folk, bluegrass, country band in NYC is an experience. Its great to see how many fans of that music genre there are in NYC. As soon as I walked into The Gramercy Theatre, I didn't feel like I was in the city anymore. There were flannels, cowboy boots and lots of Bud heavy. All that a bluegrass concert should look like.

I recently came across the band by discovering them on Spotify, so going in I only knew about 2 songs but I left the concert with so many favorites. The Turnpike Troubadours played their hearts out beginning with their biggest and my personal favorite, Every Girl. The energy onstage was contagious especially when the opening band, American Aquarium joined them on stage for 2 songs, drinks in hand, and you could see the chemistry between them.

I'm not going to brag, but they claimed that this NYC concert was the best one so far. I mean, who can argue with NYC. If you are looking for raw songs written by real musicians with a southern heart, go see Turnpike Troubadours.

They canceled 20 minutes after the doors opened only to reschedule for 3 days later which they would cancel again. Mind you Thursday's show was a show that was rescheduled when they canceled in November. They continue to announce new shows and sell tickets while steady canceling anything upcoming. Fans would be understanding if they were honest and canceled shows in advance when they know they won't be able to perform, but the constant bs excuses and shows canceled last minute are getting old.

I think the turnpikes were mildly surprised at the reaction they received from the crowd at the Oslo.it seemed they could do no wrong,

you cant help stomping along to Hillbilly

country rock,and we all did through the whole set. bit strange starting dead on 8pm and ending at 10pm and the sound was a little muddy after the Oslo boasting a great sound system.but the band were terrific and could play at a bigger venue hope they return soon

They were incredible. I so wish they had been able to play more than 4 songs. The songs are so well written, the vocals are perfect, & the musicians are stellar. It was such a pleasure to see The Turnpike Troubadours! We left when they were done. No interest in Little Big Town or Miranda Lambert. We gave our tickets to some nice people we meet.

This band is smoking hot. The Troubadours do not disappoint, they weave a show of fun and interaction with the crowd, along with some serious kickin music. Evan Felker, RC Edwards, Kyle Nix, Ryan Engleman and Gabe Pearson, put in the energy and work to create a show worth seeing anytime and anywhere. Do not miss this band.

Show was awesome. They had plenty of energy despite this being the last stop on their tour. They even played two encores, because the crowd was so into it. We've seen them twice now, and are never disappointed. The opener, Mike and the Moonpies was also outstanding, and Slim's in SF is a pretty cool place to see a show.

First time seeing them live. One of the best shows I've ever been to. Having it in a small venue like the Maze made it that much better. Was able to speak with a few of the band members after the show and they're great guys. You can tell this is something they do for the sheer joy of performing.

Great show, as usual. These guys are excellent musicians and make all their opening bands sound like amateurs. The sound quality is top notch. This is the 6th time I have seen them live. Loved hearing songs from their new album. I highly recommend taking any opportunity that see them live!!

Heck of a live show! Great crowd hype and involvement. Extremely high energy. Acoustics were on point. I would definitely see them again! Minglewood Hall was a suitable venue for the crowns size with plenty of standing room. Drinks were pricey at $6 a 16 oz beer, $7 mixed drink

Apparently the folks at SongKick are hiding under a rock and they asked me to review The Turnpike Troubadour show that was cancelled along with all the shows in November. You guys (songkick) really need to get better at what you do.

Turnpike Troubadours & Trampled By Turtles Turn In Tremendous Roots Celebration In Kansas [Photos]

Coming off  Trampled by Turtles ‘ show the previous night at Kansas City’s 1,700-capacity Uptown Theater , I was curious to see how the band would translate to their arena date in Wichita, KS supporting Turnpike Troubadours . In the smaller venue, the energy was high but it was still fairly intimate. Even if your seats were at the top you could still clearly see details of the members on stage. With the  INTRUST Bank Arena full of people, Trampled by Turtles laid out a setlist that justifiably leaned more heavily on their rock influences. Cuts from the band’s most recent album, 2022’s Alpenglow , dotted the setlist including the opening “It’s So Hard to Hold On” and were interspersed with more well-known songs like “Codeine” and a warmly-received cover of Warren Zevon ‘s “Keep Me in Your Heart” late in the game. Their resiliency and diversity in genre-bending are evident not only through their origin story—formed in Duluth, MN in 2003 after frontman Dave Simonett was ransacked of all his musical equipment save for an acoustic guitar—but they know how to curate the perfect vibe no matter where they are.

The Turnpike Troubadours are a honky-tonk neotraditional boot stomp country band based out of Oklahoma. They originally formed in 2005 and released their first of six albums in just one month, gracing the Billboard Country Top Album charts three times and scoring two Top 10 hits throughout the ensuing years. Springing back into action in 2021 after a two-year hiatus with a clean slate, The Turnpike Troubadours have proven that they are not only skilled musicians but a true testimony to perseverance, brotherhood, and a distinct love for all that music is. Their red dirt rock roots lay a foundation for this heavy-hitting band. As they played their set in Wichita, KS on Friday night, the uproarious crowd erupted with gratitude and cheers for this six-piece group of sheer talent. Their energy is unrivaled, the connection between bandmates is evidence of genuine love, and their sound is unmatched.

Fresh off the release of their first new single in more than five years, “Mean Old Sun,” and premiering it live at Stagecoach, the Turnpike Troubadours have announced a string of tour dates for late summer and throughout the fall. The tour, which will follow the August 25 release of their album A Cat in the Rain , includes a run of arenas and amphitheaters across the Midwest and Southeast, as well as stops in New York and Washington, D.C.

The Troubadours, who discussed their return to touring and the making of A Cat in the Rain with Rolling Stone this week in an exclusive interview, will kick off the headlining tour on August 24 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Turnpike Troubadours are hitting the road once again this summer, with a range of shows lined up across the US.

The eclectic, alt-country band will be bringing their electrifying suite of fan-favourites to states such as New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Texas and more throughout 2023.

In addition to a selection of headlining dates in support of their upcoming album, A Cat in the Rain , the Turnpike Troubadours will also be appearing at a handful of festivals, including FairWell Festiva l in July and Born & Raised Music Festival in mid-September.

With A Cat in the Rain en route to streaming platforms on August 25th, we're expecting the country-rockers to introduce a few new tracks into their 2023 setlist as the release date approaches.

They've already been performing the new album's title track and the lead single, ‘Mean Old Sun’, along with classics such as ‘7 & 7’, ‘Pay No Rent’ and ‘Kansas City Southern’.

Although their Stagecoach 2023 set was slightly shorter than usual and therefore didn't feature all the staples, the hugely popular group have also been performing their much-loved cover of John Hartford's iconic track, ‘Long Hot Summer Days’, during other shows.

Turnpike Troubadours’ RC Edwards Talks Triumphant Return To The Road And New Music

The Turnpike Troubadours have become one of the leading country rock ensembles that has ever arisen from the heart of Oklahoma. 

Within the decade, the six-piece Red Dirt group comprised – Evan Felker [lead vocals], RC Edwards [bass], Kyle Nix [fiddle], Ryan Engleman [guitar], Hank Early [accordion/ steel player], and Gabe Pearson [drums] have made waves with their gritty vocals and folk stomping smash hits. While changing the trajectory of Americana music in 2019, the Turnpike’s announced an “indefinite hiatus.”

It wasn’t until recently the beloved band got back on the saddle and returned to the spotlight in full force in Tulsa. The Turnpike Troubadours, best known for their impeccable harmonies and raw production – has confidently persevered forward with a profound perspective.

Instrumentalist RC Edwards, sat down with CMT ahead of their highly anticipated set at Windy City Smokeout in Chicagoland to give an update on their life out on the road and to talk about a project on the horizon.

“It’s been awesome to be back,” Edwards said full of enthusiasm. “We kind of timed our break about right. We quit playing shows a little bit before COVID-19. So, we were already on break and had nothing planned when it happened – we couldn’t have toured if we wanted to. We got a good couple of years of rest, and now everyone’s fired up to be back out doing it again.”

During the unprecedented times, Edward explained that every member of the Turnpike Troubadours went in their separate direction to pursue different projects or to prioritize their health and family.

According to Rolling Stone , Felker became sober and welcomed his daughter with his wife, Staci. As the frontman started a family, Nix released a full-length solo album titled “ Lightening on the Mountain & Other Short Stories .” The fiddle player even formed his own band, the 38’s .

Turnpike drummer and close friend Pearson, jumped on board and toured with the bandleader. When Pearson wasn’t keeping the beat for Nix – he was hitting the books at Oklahoma State University, where he worked towards a bachelor’s degree. Edwards on the other hand, channeled his creativity into his side gig, Rc and the Ambers .

“Everyone definitely got to spend more time at home with their families, friends, and a lot of ranching,” he pointed out. “It was very nice to reset and just get back to normal. Some of us got into other musical projects. Kyle and Gabe worked together, and I focused more on my band. Both of us put out records. As much as we love it… it’s just not the same as this band, the Turnpike Troubadours.”

Shortly after reuniting, Edwards said that they all had a new mindset and appreciation for their craft.

“I think we’re older, smarter, and maybe a little more focused on the right things,” the chart-topping artist clarified. “It’s going great! We definitely kind of got our heads on a little more right now.”

Despite unexpected travel complications, Edwards shared that they picked up exactly where they left off and has not faced any additional hurdles while touring.

“Travel obstacles are about the only thing that gets in our way,” he said, touching upon the pilot shortage. “We got a great crew now, not that we didn’t before. The crew has done a great job of just going from not being on the road, to touring seamlessly. I don’t think we could have pulled it off without these guys,” Edwards added.

Although the Turnpike Troubadours have secured their spot within the genre, they just recently scored the opportunity to headline Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium. He said it was a “surreal experience” and served as a career milestone.

“We have never played there before. That was our first time. I think I took a tour of it once when I was younger, just to see it all,” the musician recalled. “It’s a church, and it felt like it. Lots of friends and family were there. It was just a couple of magical nights.”

As the “ Diamonds & Gasoline ” singers hit iconic venues on their summertime trek, Edwards wants fans to know that they are also busy in the studio creating new music. 

The group has not confirmed a release date, but said that a full-length album is in the pipeline. The new material will follow their latest project “ A Long Way From Your Heart ,” which peaked at No.3 on the Billboard Top Country chart in 2017.

“We have done some studio work and a lot of writing,” he exclusively told CMT. “We’ve got a record in the works. There will be singles rolling out when we get that planned out, but that’s the next big thing this year – a new album and a tour supporting that.”
