Taylor Swift coming to Toronto for six shows at Rogers Centre

By Michael Ranger

Posted August 3, 2023 10:05 am.

Last Updated August 3, 2023 5:26 pm.

Canadian Swifties rejoice, Taylor Swift is bringing her latest tour north of the border after all.

The pop superstar announced Thursday she will be performing six shows in Toronto as part of her Eras Tour. Rogers Communications is presenting Swift’s six Toronto dates with three shows at Rogers Centre from Nov. 14-16, 2024, and then three more shows at the venue the following week from Nov. 21-23, 2024.

Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era ???? Miami, New Orleans, Indy and Toronto: The Eras Tour is coming to you in 2024 with @gracieabrams ! Verified fan registration for all shows is open now – visit https://t.co/xw6YMN3GMc for more information pic.twitter.com/DCgFQb2U22 — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) August 3, 2023

“We’re thrilled that fans will enjoy six unforgettable shows with Taylor Swift,” says Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer for Rogers.

The upcoming dates will make Swift the first artist ever to perform a six-show stint at the downtown Toronto stadium. It will also mark her first Canadian tour dates since 2018.

The American singer made headlines earlier this year when there were initially no Canadian dates announced as part of her international tour. The perceived snub even prompted a personal invitation from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and saw an MP file an “official” grievance “ in the House of Commons “on behalf of all Swifties” in the country.

“Like millions of other Canadians, we’re fans of Taylor Swift and saw the national conversation where Swifties were wondering if she was coming to Canada. We reached out to her tour promoter, highlighted Rogers Centre as a world class venue and the partnership formed from there! We can’t wait to host Taylor for six big shows at Rogers Centre in 2024,” Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers Communications, says.

Verified fan registration is now open for the Toronto dates and fans can register until Saturday at 5 p.m. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 9, and only fans that receive an email confirming their access will be able to join the queue for the Verified Fan Onsale. More information can be found here .

Minutes after the announcement went live, Ticketmaster reported “heavy traffic” on their Verified Fan webpage, which the platform says is meant as a protective measure against online scalper bots.

TAYLOR SWIFT / THE ERAS TOUR CANADA

  • Nov. 15 – Rogers Centre, Toronto
  • Nov. 16 – Rogers Centre, Toronto
  • Nov. 21 – Rogers Centre, Toronto
  • Nov. 22 – Rogers Centre, Toronto
  • Nov. 23 – Rogers Centre, Toronto

Swift began her Eras tour earlier this year, performing songs from her chart-topping career against the backdrop of an elaborate stage design for each album.

The U.S. leg of the tour kicked off in March and wraps up this week with six sold-out shows in Los Angeles. The international leg of the tour begins in late August and continues well into next year with stops in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

The Toronto shows will take place at a new-look Rogers Centre. The stadium underwent significant renovations this past winter with another round of renos to lower bowl seating expected to be completed before the Toronto Blue Jays kick off their 2024 season next April.

Rogers Communications says it will offer fans and its customers an opportunity to win tickets, with more details on how to win coming later this month.

“We’re all about connecting Canadians and bringing them the best content and experiences,” says Tweddle.

“Beyond being a highly-acclaimed singer and songwriter, she is truly an icon and role model to people all around the world.”

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is finally coming to Canada with 6 Toronto shows

Taylor Swift is finally booking an Eras Tour stop in Toronto and making amends with a six-show stint in the city.

The “Anti-Hero” singer-songwriter announced on Thursday that she will be spending almost two weeks in Toronto in the fall of 2024.

  • The information you need to know, sent directly to you: Download the CTV News App

Her first string of concerts is booked at the Rogers Centre — a venue with a capacity of more than 50,000 — on Nov. 14, 15, and 16, followed by another stint on Nov 21, 22, and 23.

“Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era,” Swift teased on Twitter while announcing the second leg of her tour coming to Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto.

The mega pop star said tickets aren’t on sale yet, but they will be on Wednesday . In the meantime, verified fan registration for Toronto shows is now open.

American musician Gracie Abrams, who Swift has called one of her favourite friends while performing together in Ohio, will be joining her on stage in Toronto.

In June, Canadian fans were left in the lurch when Swift announced 40 new dates for her Eras Tour, including Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia – skipping Canada entirely.

It seems Swift is eager to smooth over the rough patch with Canadians – the only other cities that got six shows were Los Angeles and Singapore.

The original omission pushed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to tweet at Swift with paraphrased lyrics from her own songs, posting, "It's me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don't make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon."

Following the news of Swift's tour making it north of the U.S. border, the prime minister tweeted, "We're ready for it."

We’re ready for it.

TAYLOR SWIFT WILL HAVE ‘ENORMOUS’ IMPACT ON TORONTO

Destinations Toronto Executive Vice President Andrew Weir said Swift’s shows will have an “enormous” impact on the city’s tourism and hospitality industries when they need it most.

“That's a critical time for our industry, just as the time when a lot of business travel starts to subside, leisure travel for the holidays hasn't really picked up yet,” Weir told CP24.

As the only city in the country with shows booked, Weir said he expects the geographic radius of Swifties inundating Toronto will be significant, and in turn, reflect a substantial monetary value.

On average, Era Tour fans are spending U.S. $1,300 – equivalent to more than $1,700 in Canada – on tickets, merchandise, alcohol, food, parking and hotels, Canadian music correspondent Eric Alper told CP24.

toronto tour dates 2023

“You tabulate that, she could be raking in anywhere between $75 million and $100 million just based on these six dates alone,” Alper said.

He notes that several days linger between Swift’s Toronto shows, which could leave room for more dates to be announced, or even a quick visit to stages in another major city, like Montreal or Vancouver.

THE ERAS TOUR SO FAR

The first leg of the Eras Tour launched in March with the final date booked in Brazil at the end of November 2023.After a few months to rest her vocal cords, Swift will be back on stage in Tokyo in February 2024.

The three-hour concert takes fans through the eras of the Grammy-winner’s 17-year career, spanning from “Love Story” in her earliest era to her most recent “Anti-Hero.”

With the first stretch of the tour nearly in the rear-view, Swift wrote, “really blows my mind that we have one last city on the US leg,” on Instagram this week before heading to Santa Clara.

toronto tour dates 2023

While Canadian Swifties are rejoicing about the new tour dates, securing tickets could be a battle in itself. When tickets for the first leg of her Eras Tour were released, Swift broke Ticketmaster with insufficient supply to meet the extraordinary fan demand.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the U.S. and international dates and opening acts

toronto tour dates 2023

Taylor Swift opened the Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona — which rebranded itself as "Swift Cit y" for the March 17 and 18 concerts — with a triumphant return to live performance as the first act in the history of that venue to sell out two nights on the same tour.

By that point, she'd already broken the all-time record for most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day and passed Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour as the highest-grossing tour in history by a female artist.

And Swift rose to the occasion , leading her band through a marathon 44-song set that lasted more than three hours while delivering on her promise of "a journey through all of my musical eras."

So what does she do for an encore? Here's where the Eras Tour is headed next, adding two surprise songs to the set at each show. Here's a look at what she's played so far .

  • Look what you made her do: Taylor Swift announces 6 Toronto dates for 2024

Toronto's Version: Taylgate '24 will unite Swifties for a pre-show celebration for all six of Swift's Toronto dates, which run across two weekends at Toronto's Rogers Centre from Nov. 14 to 16 and Nov. 21 to 23.

The Taylgate event will run daily on those dates from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the nearby Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and will include sing-along spaces, a "massive friendship bracelet-building and exchange area" and a live DJ mixing Swift's hits, according to the press release.

Event co-producer Bram Goldstein credits his two teenage daughters for inspiring the idea, saying they wanted to meet with other Swift fans while staying out of the chilly weather and early winter sundown.

toronto tour dates 2023

The battle is still on to try to get tickets to Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour, with the singer performing in Toronto in November and in Vancouver in December. But some Canadians have taken matters into their own hands to celebrate "The Tortured Poets Department" artist, planning a fan experience titled "Toronto’s Version: Taylgate ’24."

Throughout all six dates of the Swift's sold out tour dates in Toronto (Nov. 14 - 16 and Nov. 21 - 23), fans can head to the city's Metro Toronto Convention Centre to take over the North Building. Set to run between 1:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. ET each day.

The idea is that fans with tickets can meet up and celebrate with other Swifties before the show, and those without tickets can still have a communal Swift celebration. Activities will include an area to make and exchange friendship bracelets, places to add a little more sparkle to their Eras Tour glam, and there will also be live DJ sets, sing-along spaces and Taylgate merchandise for purchase.

There are also plans to have a parent and guardian "waiting lounge" for anyone picking up Swift fans from the concert.

"I have two teenage daughters and they want a place to hang out with all their friends – not just the ones they’re sitting with at the show," a statement from event producer and co-founder Bram Goldstein reads. "With our venue being steps from the Rogers Centre, this event just made sense."

"We have a commitment to create the best possible experience for the artist’s fans and Torontonians; both those who did and didn’t get tickets to the big show," Joel Wolinsky, producer and co-founder of the event said in a statement.

Tickets to "Toronto’s Version: Taylgate ’24" are available for $55 at torontosversion.com for all six dates. While there haven't been any brand sponsorships announced yet, the event organizer have committed to supporting of two charities: Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada and Daily Bread Food Bank .

“We look forward to welcoming fans for Taylgate ’24, and we’re thrilled to be hosting this fantastic event,” Christine Tse, vice president of marketing and communications at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre said in a statement. "Special events like this play a crucial role in drawing out-of-town visitors to Toronto and generate such a positive impact on the local economy."

US singer and songwriter Taylor Alison Swift, also known as Taylor Swift performs on stage at the ... [+] Paris La Defense Arena as part of her The Eras Tour, in Nanterre, north-western France, on May 9, 2024.

Taylor Swift thrilled fans with the addition of performances from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department when she kicked off the European leg of The Eras Tour in Paris on Thursday, May 9, 2024. She jokingly called that section of the show Female Rage: The Musical . Most concertgoers already knew and sang along to every word of all the songs she sang from the album even though it was released just a few weeks earlier on April 19. Such is the power of Swift.

In her long career of riveting live shows, her stunning performance of “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” may very well be her masterpiece so far. Swift is enjoying unprecedented success with her latest albums and tour, which showcase how she can tell a story like no other artist. Both her singing voice and her literary voice are stronger than ever, and it’s joyful to watch Swift embody and embrace her mightiness as a performer.

It's no wonder many fans are willing to travel hundreds or even thousands of miles for the chance to see Taylor Swift perform live. Since tickets sold out so quickly for the few remaining U.S. tour dates and resellers are aware of the intense demand, some fans discovered it was more doable to attend one of her international shows.

So, many fans in the U.S. and other countries have decided to make a vacation out of going to The Eras Tour in Europe this summer. If you are among them, here’s some advice on how to make the most of your international adventure.

Consider Your Lodging and Transportation Choices First

Before buying a ticket, be sure that you will have accommodations available. If you can book a hotel that’s within walking distance of a stadium and know the area is safe, that is ideal. Otherwise, check bus and train schedules for the night of your venue, then look at hotels that might be close to bus or train stops.

With tens of thousands of fellow concertgoers leaving at the same time, transportation can get tricky. If you book a room that’s farther from the venue, try to get a rental car instead of vying for a taxi or rideshare after the show. If you do that, just be sure parking will be available. You may need to buy a parking pass from the venue.

Also be aware that hotel room prices skyrocket when Swift is in town because there is such a high demand. If you are renting a car and don’t mind a longer drive, you can save a lot of money by booking a hotel room that’s a longer drive from the venue.

Enjoy The Moment

Amy Wilkinson, a 49-year-old Swiftie from Tucson, AZ, went viral in December 2023 for her reenactments of The Eras Tour performances using Elf on the Shelf dolls. She posted them to her Instagram, @Tswizzle_Momma , and found thousands of people watching each time she posted her videos. Like many other Swifties in the US, she is flying to Europe for The Eras Tour.

Wilkinson told me she had this advice for fellow fans going to the show abroad, “Enjoy the entire experience, from the moment you get on the plane until the morning after. You may be going for the concert, but the memories are made in the details. See the sights. Enjoy the food. Meet other Swifties. This is at the heart of what international travel is about.”

Make The Friendship Bracelets

Rebecca Bartley, a Swiftie from Nova Scotia, Canada, is going to Sweden to see The Eras Tour. She advises bringing friendship bracelets to share with fellow concertgoers on the night of your show. Wilkinson suggested making friendship bracelets in the language of the country where you’ll be seeing the show.

It’s easy to learn how to make friendship bracelets. I had never dabbled in making jewelry before, but now I find great joy in creating friendship bracelets. I created dozens and handed them to fans at The Eras Tour movie.

To make friendship bracelets, I start by choosing the colors I want and which word or phrase I want the bracelet to express. Then I choose colorful beads and pick out all the necessary letter beads.

Next, I cut off elastic string. I find it’s best to use Stretch Magic elastic string because of its strength and durability. To make the bracelets, I cut off a piece of string that’s twice as long as I need so that there is ample room for cutting and tying multiple knots.

Then I tape one end of the string to my workspace, string the beads I have set aside until I feel like the bracelet is complete. Being careful to not let any of the beads slide off the string, I then wrap it around my wrist to see how it fits and then consider whether I am making the bracelet for a wrist that’s likely larger or smaller than mine. (Also, with elastic string, there’s room for a flexible fit.) I adjust accordingly.

As a last step, I make four to five knots in the string to tie off the bracelet. Many fans choose to add a dab of fabric glue to the end of the knot, but I found that got really messy and wasn’t necessary if you make multiple knots. Then I tuck the knots into one of the beads so that it doesn’t show on the bracelet. Then the bracelet is concert-ready!

Keep in mind that there are a lot of other ways to make friendship bracelets that are for more involved and creative that mine. And, if the idea of making friendship bracelets doesn’t sound fun to you, don’t worry. You can buy premade friendship bracelets on Etsy. Some Etsy shops like RainFoxx13 and BonniesBracelet have elaborate, beautiful friendship bracelets that you may want to keep for yourself. Others sell packs of friendship bracelets in bulk.

If you don’t want to trade friendship bracelets, that’s okay, too. The Swiftie community is accepting and supportive, and you still may get several bracelets as gifts.

What To Wear To The Eras Tour

There are no rules for what you should wear to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour beyond the guidelines from the venue. Some fans go casual, and others choose to dress to the nines for the show. Some fans choose to wear merch from Taylor Swift’s official store . Many fans choose to dress up in costumes inspired by Swift’s songs and lyrics.

With the release of The Tortured Poets Department and its video “Fortnight,” some fans are choosing to imitate some of her looks from the video. Others are wearing their interpretation of the incredible costumes she wears during The Eras Tour concert. Others look at past eras for inspiration. You are likely to see every era represented in fan costumes at a show.

What You Should Bring To The Eras Tour In Europe

Wilkinson advised me that the number one thing to bring is a portable phone charger. If you plan on recording video and taking photos, your phone’s battery may die down quickly, and a phone charger can ensure you can keep capturing the memories all night.

Earplugs are a good idea if you’re sensitive to loud noise. If you’re bringing kids along, they are a must. They ensure you can enjoy the music while protecting your ears.

Bring along a cardigan or jacket. Layering is a good idea for a concert during the summer. Although it may be hot in the stadium, you might be chilly on the way home from the show.

You can’t go wrong bringing along hand sanitizer and a travel pack of tissues. Even if you can get through “All Too Well” without tearing up, you may cry at the sheer excitement of the experience. It can be intense in the best way.

If you have tickets that are far back, bring along binoculars to see close-up details.

What To Avoid At The Eras Tour

Don’t come to the stadium with a big bag. If you haven’t attended stadium concerts before, you may not know that you need to carry a clear bag if you want to bring a purse. It also has to fit within the measurements allowed in the stadium, so you can’t just buy a clear backpack and expect to get in the show. Check with your show’s venue to make sure you follow their rules for what you can bring.

How To Get Taylor Swift Tickets In 2024

Tickets have already gone on sale for the rest of the currently confirmed dates of The Eras Tour for 2024. However, you can get secondhand tickets from resellers. It’s usually not a good idea to buy from individuals in Facebook groups offering to sell tickets. That’s hard to verify, and many are scammed that way. Instead, check with the individual venue to see how their resell process works. It varies throughout Europe depending on the country and the individual stadium.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour schedule: How 2024 tour dates compare to Chiefs schedule

The NFL’s top power couple is making its long-awaited return to the field in 2024.

Travis Kelce’s courtship of Taylor Swift captivated some and riled up others. In the end, it was one of the most talked-about elements of the 2023 NFL season. And its impact wore on from the first quarter of the year to the last — ending with Kelce, Swift, and their families celebrating a Super Bowl win.

Only time will tell if such a result will greet the pairing come the end of the 2024 season. Nevertheless, people will be tuned in, hoping to see if there is additional overlap between the couple’s seemingly mutually exclusive lifestyles.

Kelce and Swift are global superstars. They’ll each have a chance to showcase their talents to their wider audiences in 2024: Kelce via his exploits with the Chiefs; Swift with her highly-touted Eras Tour.

Could either partner feature at their significant other’s showcases come 2024? Find out below as The Sporting News examines Kelce's and Swift’s respective schedules.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour schedule

Swift will take her talents across the United States during the fall, setting up shop in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis from Oct. 18-Nov. 3. She then heads to the Great White North, performing in Toronto and Vancouver during the tail end of the year.

Most of Swift's international travel will have receded into the background by then — she'll have completed her journeys to other continents when she performs at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

Although it looks like a menacing set of matchups, there is some good news for those hoping to see Kelce and Swift out in public. Swift's tour schedule is littered with a few week-long breaks — perhaps enough time to see her beloved Kelce in action. Either way, since she'll be in North America, it's entirely possible she can get away as needed as long as she doesn't have a concert on Kelce's game day.

Here's a look at Swift's Eras Tour schedule at the end of 2024.

Kansas City Chiefs schedule 2024

While we don't know the Chiefs entire schedule yet (we'll update when we do), Swift will easily be able to attend Chiefs' games through at least Week 6. Weeks 7-9 are out if the Chiefs have a game on Sunday, but they're in play if Kansas City has Thursday or Monday night games. The same goes for Week 11 and Week 14.

Bottom line: Expect to see plenty of shots of Swift on your TV screen at NFL games again in 2024 — whether you like it or not.

Here's what the Chiefs' 2024 slate looks like.

Johnny Marr rocks out on guitar.

Manchester will be united in the States this year.

Johnny Marr and James — both natives of the aforementioned England city — are embarking on a 20-concert North American co-headlining tour this fall.

Along the way, the pair will stop in for one night at Brooklyn’s newly opened Paramount Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

This won’t be their first time touring together either; James opened for Marr’s band The Smiths on the group’s 1985 ‘Meat Is Murder Tour.’

“We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set,” Marr said recalling the tour in a press release. “I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing.”

We look forward to making magic together,” James’ lead singer Tim Booth added.

And if you can’t wait to see these ’80s icons reunited, tickets for all Marr and James shows can be scooped up as early as today.

Fans can now purchase tickets on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, May 10.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Johnny Marr tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Johnny Marr set list

Most recently, Marr took his ‘The Spirit Power Tour’ to Nottingham on April 14.

Here’s what he brought to the stage that night, courtesy of Set List FM :

01.) “Sensory Street” 02.) “Panic” (The Smiths song) 03.) “Generate! Generate!” 04.) “Spirit Power and Soul” 05.) “New Town Velocity” 06.) “This Charming Man” (The Smiths song) 07.) “Somewhere” 08.) “Walk Into the Sea” 09.) “The Answer” 10.) “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want” (The Smiths song) 11.) “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before” (The Smiths song) 12.) “Get the Message” (Electronic song) 13.) “Bigmouth Strikes Again” (The Smiths song) 14.) “Hi Hello” 15.) “How Soon Is Now?” (The Smiths song) 16.) “Easy Money” 17.) “Getting Away With It” (Electronic song)

18.) “The Passenger” (Iggy Pop cover) 19.) “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby” (The Smiths song) 20.) “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” (The Smiths song)

James set list

In late October 2023, James headlined at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

According to Set List FM , here are the 15 tracks the band played that evening.

01.) “Sound” 02.) “Ring the Bells” 03.) “Curse Curse” 04.) “Walk Like You” 05.) “Interrogation” 06.) “Tomorrow” 07.) “Come Home” 08.) “She’s a Star” 09.) “Johnny Yen” 10.) “All Good Boys” 11.) “Sit Down” 12.) “Beautiful Beaches” 13.) “Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)” 14.) “Sometimes (Lester Piggott)” 15.) “Laid”

Johnny Marr new music

Last year, Marr dropped a Best Of compilation featuring all the hits from his storied career.

What we’re most interested in though is his 2022 release “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4.”

Comprised of 16 pulsing tracks, Marr shows off his gifts for straddling the line between hard rock and jangle pop.

While the record is “no skip” level good, we can’t help but recommend three standout tracks that showcase Marr’s musicianship- the soaring “Lightning People,” the rocking yet danceable “Sensory Street” and nimble, poppy “Night And Day.”

Don’t sleep on the opening track “Spirit Power and Soul” either; it’d fit right in at a haunted house/crossfit hybrid if that makes sense.

Want to hear for yourself?

You can find “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4” in its entirety here .

James new music

Just this year, James released their 18th studio album “Yummy.”

Unsurprisingly, the veteran rockers haven’t lost a step.

Album opener “Is This Love” is a feel good singalong that sets the tone for an inventive, dreamy, atmospheric record that sounds like a bizarro world version of The Killers.

Piano heavy “Shadow Of A Giant” is a surprise diversion from the band’s straightforward indie pop sound as they land on something that sounds brand new and familiar all at once; “Mobile God” evokes otherworldly bombasity.

Make sure to stick around for the album closer “Folks,” too. It’s the perfect melancholy capper to the unpredictable yet always satisfying “Yummy.”

PGA Tour returning to calendar-year season in 2024, per reports: Winners and losers of the schedule

The PGA Tour schedule will see many changes in 2024, including a return to a calendar-year season and an increase in no-cut events, according to Golfweek . Here’s what you need to know:

  • The tour will return to a calendar-year season for the first time in a decade after it transitioned to a wraparound schedule in 2013 that started a new season each fall, per Golfweek.
  • The 2024 calendar will reportedly feature 39 regular-season events and eight events in the post-playoff fall series.
  • The Players Championship, the Genesis Invitational, the Memorial Tournament and the Arnold Palmer Invitational will reportedly be the only designated tour events to feature a 36-hole cut.

Notable tournament dates and changes

The season will open with the Sentry Tournament of Champions on Jan. 4, 2024, and finish at the Tour Championship on Sept. 1.

The Memorial Tournament will be held one week before the U.S. Open (June 13-16) instead of the typical two weeks before the major. Additionally, the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs will each be pushed back by one week because of the Paris Olympics, reports Golfweek.

The tour will reportedly have no halfway cuts at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the RBC Heritage, the Wells Fargo Championship and the Travelers Championship in 2024.

Who wins in this schedule?

The clear winner is AT&T, which sponsored two non-designated events in 2023 but ended its deal with the Byron Nelson. Now it has one event, but Pebble Beach will be a designated event in 2024. That makes total sense — Pebble is one of the premier golf courses in the United States, and for it to have a field strength the same as the John Deere Classic (per DataGolf.com’s measure) made absolutely zero sense. Now it’ll have the best players, and one of the PGA Tour ’s top sponsors is no doubt happier.

Keep that last part in mind with all of this — the tour asked sponsors for more and more when it was seeking to increase purses and fight off the LIV threat, but it cannot make everyone happy. The tour is going to have to move around who gets designated events, in order to keep sponsors in the boat. — Kellenberger

Who loses in this schedule?

The WM Phoenix Open loses its designated event status, which stinks. But with its stadium hole and unique scheduling (Super Bowl weekend, with the final round leading up to kickoff), it may be the rare non-major that has enough else going for it to lose some field strength. We’ll see.

Moving the Memorial Tournament to the week before the U.S. Open is of note, and I’m interested to hear what Jack Nicklaus has to say about that.

But it’s also the first of three “must-play” events in a row (Travelers Championship is the week after the U.S. Open at Pinehurst, and also designated). What that stretch does is squeeze out the events before and after it, the Canadian Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic. They’ll have a harder time attracting top names that are not there out of sponsor obligations. — Kellenberger

Taylor Swift is, at long last, headed back on the road. Following this week’s monumental chart debut of Midnights , her tenth studio album, Swift announced the U.S. leg of her 2023 Eras tour on Tuesday morning (Nov. 1), confirming her first official tour in nearly five years following months of rumors.

“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on GMA . “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

Taylor Swift Is ‘IN SHAMBLES’ Over ‘Midnights’ Dominating the Hot 100 Top 10

Swift said that after kicking off in the U.S., the tour will go on an international swing, with those dates to be announced soon.

Support on the tour will come via a rotating cast of opening acts including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, Muna, Haim, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn. The public on-sale date for the tour will be 10 a.m. local venue time on Nov. 18. Swift has partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, with fans able to register here for the TaylorSwiftTix presale now through Nov. 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Registered fans will get a code with exclusive access to purchase tickets on Nov. 15 starting at 10 a.m. local venue time.

Previous Lover Fest Verified Fan purchasers will get preferred access to participate in the TaylorSwiftTix presale; make sure to register with the same Ticketmaster Account as your Lover Fest purchase. Capital One cardholders will have priority access to purchase tickets on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. local venue time through Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. local venue time or until supplies last.

Swift’s planned follow-up to the Reputation tour, Lover Fest, was scheduled to take place in 2020 following the 2019 release of her Lover album, but was canceled due to the pandemic. Since the Reputation tour, Swift has released four original studio albums — Lover , 2020’s Folklore and Evermore , and Midnights — as well as two re-recorded albums, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) , both in 2021.

This week, Midnights blasted in atop the Billboard 200 albums chart with 1.578 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Luminate — the biggest week for any album in nearly seven years. Meanwhile, Swift made history on the Hot 100 by becoming the first artist to claim the chart’s entire top 10 in a single frame, with “Anti-Hero” debuting at No. 1 to become her ninth career chart-topper.
