Saying goodbye to someone who’s about to depart on a journey can be difficult. Even as a writer, I often struggle to find the right words to say.

I’ve searched books, song lyrics and inspirational sites to come up with this list of 65 safe journey wishes . You can say these out loud, or you can copy and paste your favourite into an email, use it in a caption on social media, or better still, jot it down on a hand-written note!

Tips for wishing someone a safe journey

Goodbyes are often emotional and can be overwhelming, especially when they take place at the airport or at the station. These tips can make saying farewell that much easier.

  • Don’t leave your goodbye until the last minute. If you want to make it meaningful, make sure you set aside enough time to say everything you want to say.
  • Focus on the next time you’ll meet. Whether it’s catching up for a meal or picking them up from the airport, make a plan and remind them (and yourself) that it’s only a matter of time before you see each other again.
  • Make a time to speak. If you know you’ll hear their voice when the flight lands or the train pulls in, you’ll feel much better about sending them off.
  • Remember, the person travelling is excited for the journey ahead – but they’re probably just as emotional as you!
  • Reassure them that you’ll be thinking of them. These safe journey wishes are perfect for just that.
  • It’s not only about what you say, it’s also what you do. Depending on your relationship, a warm hug or a hand on the shoulder can mean a lot.

Short and sweet safe journey wishes

These safe journey messages are thoughtful but to the point. They’re especially good for saying a quick goodbye on social media or by text message.

  • Best wishes for a safe, happy and fulfilling journey.
  • May the road be kind to you.
  • Go safe, move safe, leave safe, home safe.

A quote graphic.

This goodbye message comes from a Middle English phrase meaning ‘May you prosper’.

When NASA astronaut John Glenn made the first manned orbital flight in 1962, mission control used the word ‘Godspeed’ to wish him a safe journey.

  • Catch you on the flip side!

We often use this friendly way of saying goodbye in Australia. It comes from late-night radio DJs, who would use the phrase before they put on a vinyl record.

Listeners knew they wouldn’t hear from the DJ again until the record had played through and they had ‘flipped’ the vinyl to the B side.

  • Stay out of trouble!

A cheeky way of saying ‘Have a safe journey’, appropriate for someone you know well!

  • Smooth sailing!

First coined in the 14th Century, this phrase prophesied calm waters free from rough waves for someone who was about to set sail on the high seas.

It doesn’t just apply to water travel – nowadays, it can be used as a generic saying to wish someone a breezy journey.

  • “May the air be clear, your flight smooth, the plane ride safe, and the sky blue!” – Unknown
  • “May angels fly with you wherever you roam and guide you back safely to family and home.” – Traditional Irish blessing
  • “The more you weigh, the harder you are to kidnap. Stay safe. Eat cake!” – Unknown

  • “The world is waiting for you. Good Luck. Travel Safe. Go!” – Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race)
  • “I don’t want you coming back empty-handed – I want you coming back with a head full of tall tales, absurdities, and little moments of beauty. Have a safe trip!” – Unknown

  • Travel Tips

If your loved one is new to flying, then here are a few helpful tips to ensure everything goes smoothly

  • This is especially true for flying out of a major city hub. If you’re flying out of a major city and flying internationally, then you may want to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before the departure time.
  • If possible, consider bringing only a personal and a carryon for your trip and avoid checking a bag. This will save you money since most airlines charge you to check bags (some charge you for carryons as well). It will also save you time since you do not have to worry about dropping your luggage off at the gate.
  • Flights tend to dehydrate you, so do your best to hydrate well throughout the flight.
  • The mobile app allows an airline to send push notifications directly to your phone indicating you of any gate changes, delays, and more.
  • Checking into your flight online often saves you time and money. Then you can pull up your boarding pass directly on your phone without having to worry about losing your paper boarding pass ticket.
  • Some flights are hot and some are cold, I always bring an extra layer to keep me warm during a flight. If I get hot I can always take it off!

It sure was helpful when you said that you must do your best to do well throughout the flight since lights tend to dehydrate you. This is something that I will share with my parents since they mentioned that they are planning to rent a helicopter for a tour next week. They have been wanting to tour different places since last year, and they want to do their adventures before the year ends.

10 Professional Ways to Say “Safe Travels”

safe trip reply

Plenty of phrases work as interesting ways to say “goodbye” to someone.

Things like “safe travels” and “take care” are popular. Although, “safe travels” might not hold up as well in professional contexts.

So, it’s worth having a few alternatives prepared.

This article has gathered some synonyms to show you a better way to say “safe travels.”

Is It Polite to Say “Safe Travels”?

It is polite to say “safe travels.” Overall, it’s a very popular choice to use as a farewell when someone is going away for a while (i.e., on vacation).

However, it’s unprofessional in an email. You can say it in spoken situations, even if they’re formal, but we don’t recommend using it in emails.

It is appropriate to say “safe travels” as a polite farewell. So, feel free to use it in most situations (besides an email).

Here’s an example showing you how it works:

Safe travels , Jackie! I hope you have the best time out there with the others.

  • It’s very friendly and joyful.
  • It’s a great way to say goodbye to people you care about.
  • It’s a little too conversational for an email.
  • It doesn’t work unless someone is going traveling (meaning it’s limited).

Clearly, “safe travels” isn’t the best choice to include in a business email. Therefore, you should have a few professional alternatives ready to go.

Keep reading to learn what to say instead of “safe travels.” We will share some great formal synonyms to mix things up.

What to Say Instead of “Safe Travels”

  • Enjoy your trip
  • All the best for your trip
  • Enjoy your vacation
  • Have the best time away
  • Enjoy your time off
  • I hope you travel safely
  • See you after your travels
  • Best wishes on your travels
  • Make the most of your travels
  • Safe journey

1. Enjoy Your Trip

When people spend time away from work, it’s likely they’re doing so to enjoy themselves and relax. After all, work can get stressful and difficult. We all need to unload sometimes.

Therefore, “enjoy your trip” is a great formal alternative to “safe travels.” It shows you hope someone has a good time away from work.

We recommend using it when emailing clients . This phrase works well when your client is about to leave on holiday. It’ll put them in a good mood (providing they read your email before leaving).

Check out the following example while you’re here:

Dear Daniel, Thank you so much for getting back to me on such short notice. I hope things go well while you’re away. Enjoy your trip , Bradley Smith

2. All the Best for Your Trip

You can always use “all the best” at the end of an email. It’s a very common way to sign off a formal email . But you don’t have to stop there.

Try adding “for your trip” to the end of it when someone is going on vacation. “All the best for your trip” is a polite and friendly phrase that works as an email closer.

It shows you wish someone the best time away . Again, work can be stressful. So, any time people get the chance to get away from it should be the best time away!

Here’s an email example that should help you understand it:

Dear Duncan, I appreciate that you’re out of the office now until the 25th. However, I would like to say thank you for all your help. All the best for your trip , Dean Watmore

3. Enjoy Your Vacation

Simplicity is key in emails. Overly complicated language or long-form sentences can make your emails undesirable to read. People may even skip over them.

So, why not keep your synonyms simple like “enjoy your vacation.” It’s a better way to say “safe travels” that keeps things friendly and formal .

You can use it regardless of the connection you have with the recipient.

For instance, it works well when emailing employees . If they’ve booked some vacation time, use it when sending your last email to them.

We also recommend reviewing this email sample:

Dear Ailee, This is great news. I knew you were working on something big for us. I’m so happy you’re on our team. Enjoy your vacation , Brent Fikowski

4. Have the Best Time Away

Another great way to close an email is “have the best time away.” It shows you how to wish someone safe travels in a more polite and formal way.

It’s best to use this when emailing your boss . It keeps things civil and friendly , allowing you to wish them well when you know they have time off booked.

It’s highly effective in most formal emails, though. It doesn’t just have to work for your boss.

As long as you know someone has booked some time away, feel free to include it at the end of an email.

Don’t forget to review this sample email:

Dear Miss Adams, Thank you for reaching out to update me. Of course, I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information to share. Have the best time away , Brian Donovan

5. Enjoy Your Time Off

“Enjoy your time off” is a formal way to say “safe travels.” It works really well when someone has booked vacation time at work, and you want to wish them well.

Generally, this phrase works better when emailing employees . It’s quite a polite and friendly alternative, showing that you’re happy to grant them time off.

After all, if you’re the boss, employees usually have to ask you for vacation time. So, you’ll know when it’s coming up. If you remember it and wish them well, you’ll sound like you care more.

This email example will help you understand it better:

Dear Melissa, I will let you know as soon as I find out more about your application. I have high hopes for you. Enjoy your time off , Brenda Carlisle

6. I Hope You Travel Safely

“Safe travels” in itself isn’t a bad way to wish someone well before a trip. However, it’s too informal. A formal rewording should help to make it more appropriate in formal emails.

You can reword it to say “I hope you travel safely.” This is much more professional and works well when wishing someone well before a vacation.

Try it as an email closer when speaking to coworkers . It shows you want them to enjoy themselves while they’re away and get to their destination unscathed.

We also recommend reviewing the following example:

Dear Kylie, Of everyone in the office, you certainly deserve vacation time the most. So, I hope you enjoy yourself out there. I hope you travel safely , Jon Wells

7. See You After Your Travels

When someone goes on vacation, it’s usually only for a week or two at a time. Therefore, they’ll be back at work in no time. So, you’ll see them again soon.

You can use “see you after your travels” as another way to say “safe travels.” It suggests that someone is going away for a few weeks , but you plan on seeing them after they return.

For instance, you can use it when colleagues book time off . It shows you’re happy to see them getting away from work and can’t wait to hear about what they get up to on their return.

Here’s a useful example to show you how it works:

Dear Maria, I have contacted our client to see what they want to do with the system. I’ll be in touch when they reply. See you after your travels , Ben White

8. Best Wishes on Your Travels

Generally, “best wishes” is used as a formal email closer. It’s similar to writing things like “all the best” and “best regards.”

You can extend it, though. Add “on your travels” to create “best wishes on your travels.”

This is a very polite and friendly way to close an email. It shows you hope someone makes the most of their time off .

Check out this example if you still need help:

Dear Mitchell, This is the only time I can arrange the meeting. Don’t worry; I’ll provide notes for you on your return. Best wishes on your travels , George Marshland

9. Make the Most of Your Travels

It’s all too easy to get caught up at work and let stress consume you. It then becomes easy to also forget to take the time to enjoy yourself when you book time off work.

However, with “make the most of your travels,” this problem tends to disappear. It’s a great way to close a friendly and formal email .

We recommend using it when you want someone to have the best vacation . It reminds them to enjoy themselves because they won’t be at work for a few days.

Perhaps this email sample will also help you:

Dear Bryan, Opportunities like this don’t come up often. I’ll let you rest for now, but we’re going to need to work together when you return. Make the most of your travels , Melanie Beau

10. Safe Journey

The problem with “safe travels” is that “travels” makes it a little too conversational. You can eliminate this issue by switching “travels” with “journey.”

Now, “safe journey” is a more professional alternative. It helps you to sound more polite and respectful in an email and is a better way to say “safe travels.”

You can use it when emailing employees who are planning a trip. It’s highly effective and allows you to retain a formal tone.

Here’s a great email example to help you with it:

Dear Stuart, Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate you’re busy trying to sort out your trip, but I’ll have a few answers for you when you return. Safe journey , April O’Neill

Saying your trip went ‘well’ or was ‘good’ to your close friends is simply not enough and they deserve better answers than that.   These 10 questions will help you to better answer “How was your trip?”:   1. What was your favorite part of the trip?   2. What did you learn on this trip?   3. How are you going to use what you learned from this trip in the future?   4. What is one thing that surprised you most on this trip?   5. Tell them about the best meal or drink that you had while traveling   6. What is the difference between how people live there and here?   7. How did you get around?   8. Is there anything you wish you had packed?   9. What advice would you give to anyone going there for the first time?   10. Would you go back?   Once you can answer these questions for yourself, you can use these responses to curate more detailed and better answers to “How was your trip?”

How to reply to a “be safe”

Behind a “Be safe”, “stay safe” or “take care”, there is a person that means well to you. Even as a simple act of courtesy, a “be safe” can show positive attention from the person who’s saying it, so the best way to reply to it is to correspond to those feelings .

You will never be wrong with a friendly “Thank you” as a reply to the phrase “be safe”!

safe trip reply

It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture; after all, it’s only a farewell response. And of course, everything has its context, so you want to consider that too.

Worry no more because in this article, we will try to build a sensible explanation of what the phrases “be safe” and “stay safe” mean and we will give you ideas on how to reply to them. Let’s get right to it!

What could “be safe” mean?

The expression usually falls into one of the following meanings, or a combination of them: as a way to show affection, as a sign of concern from the person saying it, or as a common courtesy from a stranger.

As a way to show affection

It could be a way for a protective person to say “I love you” , “I take care of you and your wellbeing” , or “Stay strong” . For this reason, it is usual to hear a “be safe” from an elder family member or a special other.

When it comes from a person who is otherwise far from your close friends and family, it could mean that person is developing positive feelings towards you.

As a sign of concern

If a person bids you farewell with a “be safe” and that person didn’t use to do that regularly, it could also point out a feeling of worry . If that’s the case, it could be a common way of saying goodbye, especially when the person parting ways is going on a long trip, to an unknown destination, or somewhere the person deems unsafe.

When we care about someone, we generally want them to be fine, and some people make efforts to protect their loved ones.

However, when the situation escapes our grasp, all we can do is hope that they stay safe, and “stay safe” is a way of expressing it.

As mere courtesy

Of course, for some people, saying things such as “be safe” or “take care” could be a matter of habit and politeness. This is true especially if the person is used to hearing that from their upbringing. When that’s the case, the more observant person will notice that “take care” or “be safe” comes from the person saying it as a common courtesy to everyone around them.

It is essential to point out that, when it comes to these expressions, context is vital. The way to interpret a “be safe” or “stay safe” could vary between cultures.

For example, it’s common in Latino households to hear it as a farewell, along with a “God bless you” or “May God / the Virgin keep you safe”.

On the other hand, we have the Chinese, who have no similar expression to “be safe” as Westerners use it. On the rare occasion, they would say “take care” or “be safe”, it would show deep concern and would involve a signal of real risk or danger.

It’s also important to differentiate the treatment between friends and family from the politeness of a stranger. Especially, if someone is developing feelings for you, they might say something like “text me when you get there / back home” or “give me a call sometime”, if you’re about to do a long trip.

A person’s upbringing, culture , and current relationship with you could point out to what, how, and why they say what they say. This distinction will tell you how to act accordingly, using the set of options you will find below.

How should I reply to a “be safe”?

There are many ways to reply to “be safe”; although they are limited to the farewell situation. It is vital to keep in mind to be as courteous and affectionate as the other person is to you.

Here are some options to reply to such a beautiful farewell.

A terrific way to correspond to someone elses’ good wishes is to state you appreciate those feelings. A friendly “thank you” is good enough to say goodbye in that situation.

Variations are also welcome, such as “Thanks”, and “I appreciate it”. Another way of showing gratitude for those feelings is our next option.

Replying with an “I will” or a “Will do” is another good way to answer. It shows the other person you are listening to them and that you care about them caring about you . “I will do my part” is a more heartfelt way of delivering your reply.

Other ways to express the same sentiment would be “no big deal” or “Don’t worry, I got this”.

These expressions can give the other person the sense of security they might be seeking.

As stated before, sometimes a “be safe” could mean “I love you” and “I deeply care about you”. And oftentimes, when people express their feelings, they expect to receive some kind of feedback from the other person.

Letting them know you also care about their safety and well-being could be an affectionate way to say goodbye.

You can try saying things such as “You take care too”, “Stay safe yourself” and for those in love, something more elaborate like “I can’t wait to see you again, so you stay safe too” can be very romantic.

It’s okay to reply by saying “Thanks, I will!” Or “I will do my part, make sure you do too!”. Whatever comes naturally to you at the moment will do just fine.

Go beyond words

For some people, answering with words could feel like an overstatement or might be necessary. A tender glance into the other person’s eyes might suffice as a reply.

Also, a hug, a friendly handshake, or a pat on the back could work if the situation allows it. Remember that person means well to you.

How not to reply to a “be safe”?

There are good ways to reply to a well-meant goodbye… and there are not-so-good ways.

Again, it all depends on timing and context. Perhaps you don’t want to come across as rude or cold; but also, you don’t want to sound inappropriate or overly affectionate.

If any of those is your case, here are a few pointers to the replies you want to tread lightly on:

As previously discussed, body language and physical gestures can go a long way to correspond to a good wish.

For this reason, it is important to consider what we do if we go the non-verbal route: turning your back on a “be safe” could come across as dismissive and rude.

Even if you feel patronized by the “be safe” thing, do the right thing and answer, even if it’s out of politeness. Any of the ways to reply above are short, polite, and sound natural and sincere.

Even if you’re not the talkative type, there are ways to show affection and keep it short and sweet.

However, too short might also be misinterpreted. A plain “OK” could sound cold and dismissive. But then again, context and even the voice tone can change a dull “OK” into a friendly way of answering.

If you answer with “Okay, I will!” it makes a difference in how your reply is interpreted by the other person.

It might sound like the right thing to say in a “goodbye” scenario, but as discussed before, a “stay safe” could be slightly more important than that. A plain, stern goodbye could sound to the other person like an “I don’t care” or a “leave me alone”, leaving the person even more worried for you.

Remember to keep your interactions as courteous and affectionate as possible in the way you receive them.

Even though “be safe” is an affectionate phrase to part ways, and it’s okay to express your feelings for the people you care about, remember that for some people, saying goodbye in that manner is only a courtesy.

It would be weird to say “I love you” to your boss or someone you have a strictly professional relationship with out of the blue.

For this reason, let’s keep this particular reply in the “comes with context” bin.

Final thoughts

It is true that a farewell such as “be safe”, “stay safe” or “take care” can catch us off guard if we’re used to a plain “Bye!” or “See you around!”.

For some of us, it can be hard to follow every social cue and understand them to a tee. Not knowing what to do or say can make us feel anxious.

So, a little bit of thought and preparation can go a long way, even for those situations that might come naturally to others.

Why i refuse to say "have a safe trip".

“HAVE A SAFE TRIP!”

She was just being kind — I know that. I’d told my friend I was going to spend the week in Costa Rica, and when we finished our conversation, she said what nearly everyone says to someone about to depart on a trip.

“Have a safe trip!”

I immediately chafed. I hate it when that’s used as a farewell. But she was just being kind — so I didn’t call her out on it. I just smiled, thanked her, and walked off, feeling slightly annoyed after what had been an otherwise pleasant conversation.

Language is important

Look, let me acknowledge this up-front: this is a quibble. It’s not a hill I particularly want to die on, and if friends and family say “have a safe trip!” when I leave for my next vacation, I’m not going to tear them a new asshole. Because if I did that, I would be an insufferable turd.

But our language matters. It tells us, in subtle ways, what we really think about the world. When I was younger, I heard “have a fun trip” more frequently. I like “have a fun trip,” because it’s exactly what I want to do when I go on a trip: have fun. And when someone says, “have a fun trip,” they are basically saying they see the world as a fun place. It’s a place where you can have adventures, have new experiences, see new things, meet new people, eat new foods.

“Have a safe trip” is, likewise, a very kind thing to say. But it betrays a different worldview. It’s a worldview that says, “the world is dangerous, and I hope it doesn’t hurt you.” It still comes from a place of kindness — but it also comes from a place of fear. It comes from a place of xenophobia. The implication is that here, at home, you are safe. There, abroad, you are not.

This isn’t how we talk about other risks

Imagine for a minute, that you are sending your kid off to school. What do you say to them?

“Have a great day at school!”

“Learn something new!”

What would you be saying to them if, for a day, you said, “Have a safe day at school!”

Children are sensitive to this sort of thing — saying, “have a safe day” implies that there is a possibility that their day will not be safely navigated. It implies, so, so subtly, that their safety is at risk. If I had heard that from my mom as I left for school in the fourth grade, I would’ve felt a mild sense of dread.

“What does she know about school that I don’t?”

The thing is — school shootings have been on the rise for a couple of decades now. We understand that schools are not an ironclad safe place for kids to be. But, while the number of school shootings is shamefully high, we also understand that our kids are still not at all likely to be involved in one, and that we shouldn’t have that threat color the entire educational experience.

The understanding is that there are risks inherent in living, and that a life spent fixating on the risks instead of enjoying and exploring the wonders of the day-to-day is a life poorly spent.

The world isn’t that dangerous

Undoubtedly, there are risks when you travel. You can be mugged, robbed, pickpocketed. You can be assaulted. You can be hit by a car, your plane can crash, and you can trip on a set of stairs that doesn’t have a railing and fall and break your neck. But the proper response to these risks is to simply take precautions — read up on which neighborhoods in your destination city have higher crime rates. Be careful when you cross the road. Pay attention on strange stairways. The response isn’t “never get on a staircase.” “Never go near a car.”

The news depicts the world as a dangerous place. And that’s because it’s the nature of the news — it’s just not newsworthy to publish the headline “EVERYTHING’S STILL OKAY IN PARIS.” We may say we’d like the news to be more positive — but we wouldn’t read that article.

So we get news that emphasizes violence, war, terror, and want. It paints a scary picture. But it’s an incomplete one.

Steven Pinker, a Harvard psychologist, has looked at the numbers over the course of human history, and he says that, worldwide, violence has declined significantly in recent decades. There are parts of the world that are unsafe — Syria’s not the best place to be hanging out right now, for example — but as a whole, there has never been a safer time to be alive.

Say “have a fun trip!”

It’s incredible what a small change of words can do to our way of thinking about the world. For example, next time you’re dealing with a problem in your personal life, try changing the label “problem” to “puzzle.” See? That problem is an opportunity, now! It’s a challenge that is specifically designed to be solved! The world is your oyster!

10 Ways to Respond to Someone’s Bad News

T he first thing you say when someone tells you their bad news determines where the rest of the conversation goes—and, sometimes, where the relationship goes. Responding in a less-than-ideal way can prompt your conversation partner to pull back and decide, “‘Well, I’m not going to bring that to you anymore,’” says Jenny Dreizen, an etiquette expert and the Scotland-based co-founder of Fresh Starts Registry , a website that offers dozens of scripts in order to provide words for moments that leave you at a loss. “We all get blank-page syndrome,” she says. “None of us know how to do this.”

With that in mind, we asked Dreizen and other experts to share their favorite ways to respond to someone who’s sharing bad news, from the trivial to the unimaginable.

“The disappointment is so real. I’m here to validate that for you.”

Imagine a friend just told you their vacation plans fell through, and they’re crushed. Your gut reaction might be that it’s a minor concern—it’s not life or death, right? “But we don’t dictate what upsets people,” Dreizen says. “And we don’t know what that vacation would mean to somebody.”

That’s why she employs the VASE Method, which helps you present your words to someone as though they’re pretty flowers in a vase, she says. The acronym stands for: validate (recognize that their experience is real and true), acknowledge (show that you understand what they’re going through), support (offer to do what you can to lighten their load), and express (tell them how you feel, emphasizing your pride, love, respect, and compassion). In this case, after validating your friend’s disappointment, you might add: “How can I help you pivot a little? What can we do?” Or, you could offer to reach out to the airline and hotels to cancel reservations. “And then tell them how you feel—‘I love you so much and I know this is a bummer, but I’m here for you,’” Dreizen suggests.

“Please remember to just keep breathing. One breath at a time.”

This response works well when someone you love is going through something unfathomable, like pregnancy loss, Dreizen says. “In those horrible moments, you can really forget that you’re a person who still needs to breathe, who still needs water,” she says. “It seems almost goofy to remind somebody just to breathe, but it's also reminding them, it's not just one step in front of another. That's too much. It's one breath after the next, just to get through the next millisecond and then the next one.”

“How is this landing for you?”

People often ask Christine MacInnis, a therapist in Torrance, Calif., how she seems to always know the exact right words to say. She believes it’s because when someone shares news about a divorce, job loss, or other setback, she first asks how it’s landing for them. “In order to proceed appropriately with the right words of comfort, you need to know how it feels for them,” she says. “Maybe the divorce is a relief, or their job made them miserable.” She remembers comforting a close friend who had just lost her job—and the woman gave her a strange look and said, “I’m not sad at all! I hated that place. I told you so you could introduce me to your friend who works at XYZ company and I could share my resume.” Even therapists, she jokes, can sometimes read the room wrong, which is why gauging someone’s spirits can be so helpful.

“You are doing such a good job at being strong and brave, and I wish you didn't have to.”

When our loved ones experience hardship, we naturally want to protect them. That’s why Dreizen likes this line, or a slight variation: “I am so sorry this is part of your story now.” It’s essentially saying, “I know that you’ve got this, but I wish you didn’t have to,” she says. “It’s holding someone in their vulnerability and saying, ‘I see that you're being strong, but I wish that you could just be vulnerable and soft and lie in a bed.”

“Remember that rejection is a part of life, and it does not define your worth. Keep pushing forward, a better opportunity is waiting for you.”

As a recovering perfectionist, Dreizen understands the heartbreak that can be triggered by losing a dream job or promotion. That’s why it’s important to emphasize that professional rejection usually isn’t personal. “Things like that can feel like they’re about you, and they so rarely are,” she says. You could even send your message of support written in a card, along with flowers or a gift card, she adds—and let the other person know you’re there if they need to vent.

“We will figure this out together.”

When a work-related issue recently popped up for Dreizen, a friend told her: “We will figure this out together.” “I cried because I was like, ‘I didn’t think that was your problem,’” she recalls. “But we are responsible to each other in that capacity—we get to take care of each other. We don’t have to, but we get to, when we build a community.” Showing someone that they’re not alone can greatly bolster their resilience, she adds.

“This is a lot to handle. Would it help if I helped with [specific task]?"

Sometimes people don’t know what they need—or don’t want to ask for it, says Cassandra LeClair, a clinical associate professor of communication at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, who specializes in communication in relationships. “By offering specific help, you show you’re ready to help,” she points out. Perhaps you could walk your friend’s dog, pick up their groceries, mow their lawn, or assist with an errand. “Make it clear you’re ready and willing, but they’re not obligated to take you up on your offer,” LeClair says. “And if you offer, mean it.”

“I promise you, your story is safe with me, and we can move forward however you're comfortable, at your pace.”

It’s scary to share something that's vulnerable, embarrassing, or potentially shameful, Dreizen emphasizes—and then to feel like that story has traveled to husbands or sisters or mothers. So if a friend discloses something serious to you, like abuse, let them know they have your confidence. Make it clear that “their secrets are safe with you, and they're not going anywhere and aren't going to be fodder in any capacity,” she says. It’s also important to establish that you’re not going to push them on next steps or ask for more details than they’re ready to reveal. “We want to empower the sharer to know that, ‘I’m not going to decide what this means for you,’” Dreizen says. “I’m just here to support you and love you in this moment.”

"I'll check in with you from time to time to let you know I’m thinking about you. You don’t need to respond; I just want you to know that I’m here for you."

When Shari Leid was diagnosed with breast cancer, the comments that rolled in ranged from supportive to insensitive. People told her she was a warrior and that she’d fight the disease—both of which were meant to be encouraging but “felt empty.” Others—“Well, you get a free boob job” and “At least they caught it early”—struck her as dismissive.

The most meaningful support came from simple, thoughtful check-ins, rather than assumptions about her strength or prognosis, says Leid, a mindset coach in Seattle who’s the host of the podcast Life Unscripted . It was also non-intrusive. Next time someone you love is going through a hard time, let them know you plan to check in, she advises—but remove any pressure to respond, so that they have one less thing to worry about if they’re not up for a conversation.

“You don’t need to put on a brave face with me.”

It’s important to encourage authenticity, whether you’re talking to someone who’s going through a divorce, grappling with a scary diagnosis, or dealing with an entirely different set of unfortunate news. That’s why Leid likes reminding people that it’s OK to have tough days, and that she’s there to support them without judgment. While it’s fine to send this note via text, calling or video-chatting can help you “see or hear your loved one’s voice,” she says. That way, you have a more accurate sense of how they’re processing the situation—and can follow-up accordingly.

Or is it better/safer to take a taxi? There will be two females traveling.

It's not an issue of safety, although pickpocketing is an issue in every large city and tourist area, pretty much throughout Europe.

You might consider the taxi for convenience, the fixed fare is just 18 euro, all inclusive (although fair warning, taxi drivers are known to make a small scene about this, you are entitled to this fare no matter how much they complain).

The Alibus to the metro works fine for just 5 euro each, but be sure to purchase your ticket inside the airport as the ticket purchased directly from the driver does not also include the metro while the tickets purchased inside the airport do. It's a short walk (350 meters/two-tenths of a mile) from the Dante metro station to your hotel.

The fixed fare chart for taxis can be downloaded from the city's website here: https://www.comune.napoli.it/flex/cm/pages/ServeBLOB.php/L/IT/IDPagina/1193

Thank you. I appreciate your response.

Okay, let’s face it no matter how safe an airline or airport might claim itself to be, there are still some things that are not taken care of as they should be, like not taking care of your stuff in your absence. So, in such cases, your solution becomes travel insurance benefits.

Be it a small damage, a big damage, or a theft, the benefits of travel insurance make sure that you are not worried about them while travelling. And the amount of travel protection you are eligible for usually depends on the amount of premium.

4. Travel Delay Coverage

Next up, let’s talk about delays. Yes, those delays cause frustration and anxiety. However, luckily for you, the benefits of travel insurance balance out those emotions. They examine the delay, its cause, and the amount of time wasted and accordingly give you your compensation.

Now, not all benefits of travel insurance firms recognise these delays but the ones that do pay you for the hotel expenses, travel expenses, and other additional costs. And having such trip protection helps you maintain your sanity during those hours of disappointment.

5. Coverage for Adventure Activities

So, if you’re the kind who dares big and loves to explore adventure then the benefits of travel insurance add to that thrill. These insurances cover high-risk activities like sky diving, scuba diving, skiing, etc. which are otherwise not covered by normal health insurance.

Additionally, as more adventure sports spawn, these companies are making an effort to make sure that you enjoy safety while taking risks. And as we all know an injury during such an activity can easily put a dent in your pocket, so using the benefits of travel insurance is your safe bet.

6. Rental Car Coverage

Okay, adding up to the previous benefit of travel insurance, we can safely say that if you intend to rent a car to explore the nook and crannies of your abroad destination then travel insurance benefits must not be ignored. And the reason is that while driving you never know when an accident might happen and assuming you are safe but the car is still going to be damaged.

And sadly, most car rental companies will be motivated to over-exaggerate the damages and then you’ll end up paying more than necessary. So, to enjoy trip protection while having a memorable drive, opt for travel insurance benefits.

7. Support During Global Emergencies

Now, as we all are well aware of the geopolitical conflicts happening around us, for most of us, the violence doesn't directly concern us but imagine that you’re on a business trip and the country you’re in gets engulfed in a war. Well, such an incident is very much possible in today’s time.

So, what would you do in such a situation then? And we know your answer, try your best to get out of the conflict and hope for the best. Well, what if somebody could do that heavy lifting for you? Travel insurance plans do just that by ensuring your safe evacuation.

8. Assistance with Lost Travel Documents

So, this travel insurance benefit is going to be more relevant to you if you’re a student or a tourist who’s new to the country and is carrying important documents like your passport or your student loan papers. These documents are more important than your ticket back home and losing even one of them would mean complete disaster. But like all problems, this too has a solution.

And it’s that you enjoy the benefits of travel insurance plans to ensure that if any of such documents are lost, they’re going to coordinate with the local authorities to help you find them as soon as possible.  Despite this benefit of travel insurance, we’d still advise you to ignore it and safeguard your documents at all times.

Enjoying the benefits of travel insurance is a smart choice, and so is enjoying smart stays. Find your ideal student home with us!

9. Legal Assistance and Personal Liability

Okay, imagine that you've got into trouble with some local gangs or have been wrongfully convicted of crimes that you didn’t commit. Yes, this might seem straight out of a movie but nevertheless, it’s still a big possibility.

And in such a case you are going to be unaware of the legalities you will be facing and the consequences of those. So, in such a case the benefits of travel insurance become your saviour by protecting you against claims for bodily injury or property damage you may accidentally cause to others.

10. Peace of Mind

Last but not least; opting for the benefits of travel insurance plans helps you stay away from unnecessary worries that might hamper travel protection while travelling abroad. And if you’re constantly worried there is no way you can enjoy your mental well-being .

Having the safety net of travel insurance plans is like having a guide along a path that you’ve not travelled yet; it makes you feel safe and secure, keeping your stress levels in check and in turn promoting a state of mind conducive to exploration, business, study, etc.

To conclude, we must say that the benefits of travel insurance protect you from all the potential dangers and pitfalls of travelling. But with that being said, you must make all efforts to safeguard yourself against all these mishaps and resort to the benefits of travel insurance only as your last option because it is always better to be safe than to be sorry.

8 Helpful High-Income Skills That Are Safe From AI In 2024

What skills are safe from AI in 2024?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is generating buzz both for what it can do and who it might replace, but certain high-income jobs remain firmly in the domain of human expertise. These roles demand a unique blend of social and emotional intelligence, creativity, and critical thinking.

Artificial Intelligence has certainly unburdened a lot of the tasks and helped tremendously in simplifying the workload. For example, salespeople are using AI to analyze sales calls faster, bloggers and content creators are already using AI to streamline the writing process, and customer support reps are bringing customers faster solutions. Despite being so good with almost all job roles, there are still some jobs that AI can’t replace. These include jobs that require creativity, empathy, critical thinking, and human interaction.

8 Skills That Remain Safe From AI Takeover In 2024

So which jobs should you consider if you want to prepare yourself financially for the AI revolution? Here are a few options.

Software Development: Work With AI

The field of software development, often regarded as a hotbed of AI advancement, is a profession where humans and machines need to work together. While AI can draft code, creative problem-solving and innovative thinking are where you need humans. AI can code to a certain degree like writing short command line programs and raw codes but creating hardcore coding is out of its range.

Also, you know that – Humans build AI; it’s not the other way around. Now that we are in the era of AI advancement, now is the time when skilled developers are needed the most.

Designing: Essence Of Human Touch

AI may do everything. But it cannot be as creative as humans. Humans possess the prerequisites of good design; perspective, vision, creativity, and feelings which a machine can never learn.

Yes, AI can generate visuals based on data, but it lacks the capacity for artistic expression, evoke emotions and the ability to give unique branding to a product.

Human Resources: A Human Response

Navigating workplace dynamics, understanding individual needs, and fostering a positive work environment are uniquely human skills

HR professionals excel in understanding people, resolving conflicts, and maintaining a positive work environment. While AI can assist with other administrative tasks, it cannot replace the interpersonal skills essential for HR.

Mental Health and Counseling: Providing Conversational Support

Therapists provide emotional support, coping strategies, and guidance to individuals dealing with mental issues. This can only be understood by another human with feelings.

They provide mental health support and require empathy active listening, and emotional intelligence – skills that AI currently struggles with.

Legal Professionals: The Nuances of Judgment And Advocacy

Legal experts, such as lawyers, advocates, and paralegals, engage in complex human judgment, intricate arguments, and ethical considerations. While AI can assist with legal research and fast-track law-reacted research, it cannot replicate the courtroom actions of judgment.

Legal expertise involves understanding context, cultural norms, and the art of persuasion – areas where human judgment excels.

Education: Shaping Minds with Human Learnings

Educators inspire, educate, and shape future generations. It has been this way for generations. Moreover, education isn’t only about what’s written in books. It is also empathy, compassion, respect, attitude and more.

While AI can facilitate personalized learning, it falls short of establishing the human connection that educators cultivate with their students.

A teacher not only builds the career of a child but also the character. However, even if it is all about bookish knowledge, every student needs different methodologies, which can only be met by a human.

Marketing: Strategic Insights And Emotional Intelligence

This is where storytelling and brand management become critical and hence, marketers occupy a distinct role. This is, again, one of the most important jobs that AI can’t replace.

AI may streamline data analysis and automate certain tasks like giving stats and results, yet it falters in understanding human emotions and constructing powerful brand narratives.

If you’re a marketer, you know how the decisions are based on human responses more than data. Also, marketers use their strategic thinking and brand ideas to build campaigns for the audiences, which is something can’t do.

Healthcare Professions: Mix of Compassion And Expertise

AI serves as a valuable auxiliary tool in healthcare, aiding in diagnoses and treatment recommendations. It has already fastened multiple healthcare operations like analyzing patient base, predicting future scenarios, etc.

The delicate nature of surgery and other medical procedures, combined with the need for human judgment and bedside manner, make these jobs irreplaceable by AI for now. It cannot replace the compassion and expertise of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff.

As AI continues to thrive, these high-income jobs will remain secure due to their reliance on uniquely human skills. While technology enhances efficiency, it cannot replace the essence of what makes us human. In case you feel threatened by AI, you have two choices:

  • Upskill and build your brand
  • Change your career

I’d recommend the first.
