Going on a Putrajaya trip and want to know all the best things to do in Putrajaya? We have you covered! Below you will find our guide to all the best attractions in Putrajaya to plan your ultimate trip.
Putrajaya is a city often overlooked thanks to being so close to its big brother Kuala Lumpur, and many visitors to KL only see a glimpse of it on the motorway to and from the airport.
However, there are many places of interest in Putrajaya as well as things to do at Putrajaya that make it a great spot to visit.
Located just 25km south of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya was previously filled with plantations of rubber and oil palm. Today, it is the judicial and administrative capital of Malaysia. Putrajaya is a planned city and also dubbed an eco-city with over a third of the land reserved as greenery, making it one of the greenest cities in Asia.
Filled with stunning buildings, modern skyscrapers and manmade attractions, there are plenty of places to go in Putrajaya. Still, this is a quiet city and you won’t find many night activities in Putrajaya.
Below, you will find our Putrajaya travel blog with everything you need to know about what to do in Putrajaya as well as the best places to stay for your ultimate holiday! There is also a handy map of the best places to visit in Putrajaya Malaysia.

Top 14 Best Things To Do In Putrajaya Malaysia
Here are the best Putrajaya attractions. Read through and select the ones that fit your interests and timeframe.
Note that the things to do Putrajaya offers are more about stunning huge monuments, gorgeous gardens and interesting architecture rather than museums or other places to walk around and explore. Often, it’s more about seeing the outsides and taking some photos which is why the Putrajaya tourist attractions can be best visited on a tour.
This is the tour I took and recommend.
There is a section below which talks more about taking a tour.
What I also loved here is that the buildings were all designed by Malaysian architects and meant to represent this country. It’s really a unique place.
Putrajaya Lake
Putrajaya’s ambition can best be seen in one of the top places in Putrajaya, Putrajaya Lake. In our opinion, this manmade lake is the most impressive attraction in Putrajaya. This 650 hectare lake has become the centrepiece of the city with many of the impressive buildings and accommodation options located on its banks.
Believe it or not, fishing is popular activity here. There are also some beautiful gardens, jogging trails and cycling tracks.
From Marina Putrajaya, you can do a whole host of Putrajaya lake activities like stand up paddle boarding or zoom along the lake in a water jetpack.
You can also cruise the lank on a catamaran or wooden perahu (more details below).
It is also the best place in Putrajaya at night to take a walk.
Putra Mosque
From the banks of the Putrajaya Lake you can see the Putra Mosque – one of the Putrajaya places to visit.
Most of the population of Putrajaya are Muslim so the Putra Mosque is an important site in this city as well as one of the tourist attractions in Putrajaya.
This is a beautiful rose tinted mosque built for up to 15,000 worshippers at any one time. Non-Muslim visitors are permitted to visit outside of the designated prayer times.
Robes are provided on entrance if you’d like to step inside and appreciate the ornate decorations, or grab a moment of peace.
Address: Persiaran Persekutuan, Presint 1, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya
Perdana Putra (Prime Minister’s Offices)
As the administrative capital of Malaysia, one of the Putrajaya things to do is admire the Perdana Putra, or Prime Minister’s Offices.
It’s just steps away from Putra Mosque and can be appreciated from the outside only. Built is an Islamic architectural style, this building is lovely to look at and a mixture of both eastern and western influences.
You can admire the mint green dome, the east and west wings of the building, and see Dataran Perdana where the prime minister holds ceremonies and meets with dignitaries.
The walkways and surrounding garden are also beautifully kept and landscaped.
Address: Persiaran Sultan Sallahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Presint 1, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya
Perbadanan Putrajaya
Perbadanan Putrajaya is another example of the architecture of this city, with an enormous archway in the centre of the building. This tourist attraction in Putrajaya makes for a great photo opportunity, celebrating the modern architecture of this city.
The area is quite beautiful too with flowers and grassy areas perfect for a picnic or lunch.
It’s directly opposite the Palace of Justice and, through the centre of it, you can see the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque coming up next!
Address: Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya, 24, Persiaran Perdana, Presint 3, 62675, Putrajaya
Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque
Also known as the Iron Mosque, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque is one of the most unique mosques in the world and a must see among Putrajaya attractions 2024.
This is a modern and intricately constructed building taking inspiration from the past yet obviously looking towards the future. The mosque is constructed with metal wires and lacks any minarets, making it quite a unique design. Inside is airy and spacious, adorned with calligraphy from the Quran.
The mosque sits just opposite the Palace Of Justice, and there is also a green and luscious garden.
If you enjoy cutting edge architecture, this is the best place to visit in Putrajaya.
Address: 25, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Presint 3, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya
Istana Kehakiman (Palace Of Justice)
Just opposite the Iron Mosque sits the Palace Of Justice, another interesting place in Putrajaya.
The Palace of Justice can be appreciated from both inside and out. There is a spacious courtyard and Taj Mahal like architecture on the outside, and a museum on the inside.
If you’re interested in judicial history then the museum is one of the fun things to do in Putrajaya. You can see costumes and a stone monument known as the Batu Bersurat which lists Islamic laws and dates from 1303AD.
There’s also a justice hall of fame with biographies of Malaysia’s Chief Justices, and a mock high court. Look up and you’ll also see the decorative interior of the domes.
This is not always open to the public so check before travelling here.
Address: Persiaran Perdana, Presint 3, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya
Taman Botani (Botanical Gardens)
One of the best outdoor activities in Putrajaya is a visit to the Taman Botani. This is an excellent botanical gardens to visit with over 700 species of plants including many native to the region. There’s also beautiful trees, plenty of grassy areas suitable for a picnic, and a canopy bridge to walk over.
You can explore by hiring a bike at a reasonable price or walking around. Another way to explore is via a tram ride (which is more like a bus).
This is the best thing to do in Putrajaya if you’re looking for a peaceful setting. It is rarely crowded. Note, however, it’s best to bring food and drinks with you as there are limited options available for purchase.
If you’re looking for places to visit in Putrajaya at night, the Taman Botani is open until 7pm.
However, note that currently, there is some development happening in these gardens and it’s not at its best.
Address: Lebuh Perdana Barat, Presint 1, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya
Views From The Putrajaya International Convention Centre
An easy place to visit is the outside of the Putrajaya International Convention Centre where you can find views back over Putrajaya.
It only takes a moment to take a look and snap some great photos, and you’ll be glad you did.
Taman Wetlands
Another Putrajaya interesting place among this city’s unique attractions is the Taman Wetlands. What makes it so cool is its close proximity to the city – it’s less than 2km away.
This area is actually a man-made wetlands which has become an important ecosystem and home to around 100 species of birds. Plenty of other animals including mammals, reptiles and insects have also made this wetlands their home.
There are plenty of Putrajaya outdoor activities you can do here like jogging, cycling, picnicking and exploring gardens like the bamboo garden. There’s also a playground for kids.
It’s open until 7pm so a walk here can be one of the things to do in Putrajaya at night.
Address: Presint 13, Putrajaya
Putra Bridge
One can not write a Putrajaya what to do list without mentioning the Putra Bridge. This bridge is huge and a stunning piece of architecture.
From the bridge you can get great views of the lake, the Putra Mosque and the Prime Minister’s Office. The bridge also leads to another nice place to visit in Putrajaya, Putra Square.
Putra Bridge is also a Putrajaya night attraction with night time being the best time to snap a photo.
Address: Presint 2, Putrajaya, Selangor
River Cruise
From Marina Putrajaya there are a range of cruises you can do including a sightseeing cruise, a dining cruise and a more traditional wooden boat cruise similar to a gondola. There are also larger capacity, modern and airconditioned boats.
This is a great way to see and appreciate Putrajaya from it’s unique man-made lake – itself the Putrajaya best place to visit.
While a cruise itself is one of the activities to do in Putrajaya, they can also take you to many of the things to see in Putrajaya.
I highly recommend it.
You can do this as part of the half day tour from KL that I took and recommend here.
District 21
District 21 is located in the IOI City Mall, itself a large mall and the best place at Putrajaya for shopping.
This is the best place to go in Putrajaya for adrenaline junkies, and a visit is certainly one of the most interesting things to do in Putrajaya for kids.
There’s a whole host of attractions here involving sliding, jumping, climbing and more.
It’s themed as a post-apocalyptic world with activities for both kids and adults. There’s a maze, climbing wall and much more. A great way to spend half a day!
Address: AT 6, IOI City Mall, IOI Resort City, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya

Sunway Lagoon
If you’re looking beyond your Putrajaya to do list, consider a visit to Sunway Lagoon. This is an awesome outdoor theme park with seven different sections and a huge range of waterslides, rides and a whole host of other attractions.
Parks include the Sunway Lost Lagoon and Water Park complete with a man-made surf beach, erupting volcanos, many water slides and more. There’s also Wildlife Park zoo, X Park with go-carts, climbing walls and bungee jumping, Scream Park complete with thrilling (or terrifying) rides and an Amusement Park.
There is a great deal of variety and something to suit everyone, but particularly kids. It makes for an excellent day out and is located about a 40 minute drive away from Putrajaya.

Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is very easy to visit if you’re based in Putrajaya. The best way to get there is to hop on a train from Putrajaya & Cyberjaya and head to KL Sentral station. The trip just takes 20 minutes and is inexpensive.
Alternatively, a taxi ride from Putrajaya to KL will take about 40 minutes.
In KL, you can see all the main sites like the Petronas Towers, Merdeka Square, KLCC Park as well enjoy all the shopping, food, museums and markets that make KL such a popular destination.

Putrajaya Attractions On A Tour
While it’s possible to get to Putrajaya by train and there are electric buses and bikes around town, traveling around still isn’t super easy.
To make the most of the things to do around Putrajaya, I recommend a tour. This way all the transport and attractions are taken care of for you.
I personally took this tour on Klook . It was a super easy way to enjoy all the interesting places in Putrajaya in an easy format. I highly recommend it.

Best Place To Stay In Putrajaya
When it comes to where to stay in Putrajaya, there is a great range of hotels and some of the best value 5-star hotels I have seen anywhere. No matter what your budget, your holiday style or who you are travelling with, you’ll easily find a great place to stay.
Below I’ve listed a few different places to consider including a budget, mid-range and more luxurious option.
BEST – DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside Review
If you want 5 star luxury, I recommend staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton. This is an awesome resort and in keeping with Putrajaya’s reputation as a green city as there are 4 acres of gardens here.
This resort is also great for families with kids as there’s a playground and two kids pools.
Accommodation options include standard rooms, deluxe rooms, executive rooms and suites including two bedroom options sleeping up to 9 guests. There’s really an option for everyone.
The resort offers free WiFi throughout, there is a spa and a fitness centre, an infinity pool and five dining options including a bar. Marina Putrajaya is only a short walk away.
Click here for the latest prices.
MID-RANGE – The Everly Putrajaya Hotel Review
The Everly Putrajaya Hotel is a modern hotel offering spacious, comfortable and affordable rooms. This hotel also offers free parking for guests that are driving.
Room options include deluxe rooms, superior rooms and suites. Each room offers free WiFi, a kettle, air-conditioning, a safe and TV. It’s also possible to request an extra bed if needed.
The hotel has one restaurant onsite, Fuze Restaurant, which offers lunch and dinner, as well as the Nuevo Cafe. There’s also a fitness centre, currency exchange and 24 hour reception.
Both Alamanda Shopping Centre and Putrajaya Lake are a short walk away.
BUDGET – OYO 707 Ayuni Hotel Review
For budget friendly accommodation, OYO 707 Ayuni Hotel is our top pick.
This hotel offers both standard and superior rooms, either with twin beds or a queen/king bed. Rooms are simple with a private bathroom, TV and sitting area.
The property is located far from Putrajaya’s attractions and is best if you need to be based in Bangi. This is simple accommodation with a 24 hour front desk and free WiFi throughout.
Kuala Lumpur is also not far away. You can see our top picks for accommodation in KL here.
How To Get To Putrajaya
It’s easy to get to Putrajaya from Kuala Lumpur by car, taxi or public transport. It is just a 40 minute drive from KLCC or you can take a train in just 18 minutes from KL Sentral.
It’s also easy to get here from the airport or elsewhere in Malaysia.

Putrajaya With Kids
Like most places in Malaysia, kids and families are made to feel welcome in Putrajaya.
Having said that, when it comes to what to do in Putrajaya Malaysia with kids, beyond District 21, there are not many places to see in Putrajaya that will interest kids. A visit here mostly involves looking at cool buildings and walking around. There are a couple of playgrounds, but not much more to offer kids for any longer than a day trip.
There are places to visit near Putrajaya like Sunway Lagoon, and of course Kuala Lumpur, that have lots more to offer.
Final Words
Whichever way you look at it, there’s no denying that Putrajaya is an interesting place to visit! It is modern, luscious, yet can be eerily quiet!
There are enough interesting places to visit in Putrajaya for a day trip, and it’s also a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of much bigger Kuala Lumpur.
Even if you only do a Putrajaya 1 day trip, I recommend you visit to this unique city.
Click here for more information on a tour I took to visit here and recommend . It visits many of the places above.

17 Things To Do In Putrajaya That Prove There’s More To The City Than Government Buildings
Things to do in Putrajaya
Putrajaya is home to almost all of Malaysia’s government buildings after it replaced KL as the nation’s federal administrative centre. So it’s racked up a reputation as a city most of us wouldn’t usually think of when scouting out fun activities to do in Klang Valley – case in point, when it was voted the least romantic state in Malaysia back in 2020.
But you’ll be surprised with the variety of attractions hiding out here – a thrilling skate park, romantic cruise rides, and ‘overseas’ photo spots included. So venture beyond your usual places in KL and Selangor and check out these 17 cool things to do in Putrajaya .
Table of Contents
– Attractions –
– sports –, – leisure –, guide of things to do in putrajaya, 1. explore a chinese garden at china-malaysia friendship garden.
The pandemic has undoubtedly dashed many of our travel plans. But there are attractions such as China-Malaysia Friendship Garden that bring scenic overseas places to our country.
This lesser-known garden in Klang Valley is part of the larger Anjung Floria Garden, a public park in Putrajaya comprising several smaller gardens. The Chinese-style garden was opened in 2015 to commemorate Malaysia’s diplomatic ties with China.
Boasting a Chinese pavilion, moon gate, and stone walls, the garden has plenty of spots that look straight out of a Chinese historical drama. Visitors can drop by to soak up the beauty of these traditional structures, and take enchanting ‘overseas’ snaps – the garden’s entrance with its dramatic, sweeping roof is an especially popular photo-taking spot.
Address: Anjung Floria, Lebuh Sentosa, Presint 4, 62250 Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya Opening hours: Mon – Sat 9AM-11PM (Closed on Sundays)
2. Dip your feet in a sandy beach at Pantai Floria
A new attraction at Putrajaya is Pantai Floria , an artificial beach in Precinct 4 that stretches 100 metres and is complete with sandy banks and water to dip your feet in.
The beach was opened to the public on 1st March 2022, and has quickly become a popular place to kayak, fish, camp and picnic along the beach.
You can rent two fishing rods for RM50/day , or go for a relaxing kayak (RM15/ride) ride on the lake’s wide expanse of water . There’s a small fee (RM3/adult and RM2/child) to pay to enter this family-friendly beach.
Address : Sisiran Floria, Presint 4, 62675 Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya Opening hours: 9AM-6.30PM, Daily Rekreasi Air Sisiran Floria Putrajaya Facebook
3. Take photos in a Moroccan pavilion at Astaka Morocco
Another well-known photo spot in Putrajaya is Astaka Morocco . This eye-catching pavilion features delicately crafted pillars and archways by Moroccan artisans, celebrating Malaysia’s diplomatic links with Morocco.
You’ll want to take your time to explore every corner of this marvellous structure located at the edge of Putrajaya Botanical Garden. Here, you’ll find a myriad of delightful subjects and backdrops for your photos – from a stone fountain in the centre of the stunning tiled courtyard, to the many carved doors, walls and arches inside the pavilion.
This slice of authentic Moroccan architecture will transport you to the grand palaces of Marrakech, Morocco, without a flight involved.
Tickets: RM3/adult and RM1/kid
Address: Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Presint 1, 62000 Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya Opening hours: Wed – Mon 9AM-6PM (Closed on Tuesdays)
4. Catch stunning night views of bridges in Putrajaya
Spend enough time driving through Putrajaya and you’ll find yourself cruising over multiple bridges – the city happens to have eight unique bridges that connect its 20 precincts.
One of these bridges is Seri Gemilang Bridge , an elaborate European-style bridge modelled after Pont Alexandre III bridge in Paris, France. It’s even flanked by four decorative towers with elegant gold and marble trimmings.
The bridge is even more captivating at night when it lights up, making it an ideal spot for romantic strolls along its designated pedestrian lanes and a charming subject for photographers.
In contrast to the old-world charm of Seri Gemilang Bridge, Seri Wawasan Bridge in Precinct 2 is a futuristic, asymmetric bridge that looks like the bow of a ship. This bridge lights up in vivid colours from evening till midnight, and has a pedestrian lane right down the middle where you can take amazing symmetrical shots.
The longest bridge in the city, Putra Bridge stretches 435-metres long and is three storeys tall. Its top level is used as a vehicle crossing, while its lowest level is a pedestrian lane that leads out to scenic piers by the lake. A monorail track is planned for its middle level.
For a fun fact, this bridge is modelled after the Khaju Bridge in Iran.
5. Check out a pink mosque on a lake, Putra Mosque
It’s hard to miss Putra Mosque in Putrajaya. This iconic waterfront landmark is a sacred space for Muslims in the country, and an architectural attraction due to its unique pink exterior comprising nine pink-coloured domes crafted with rose-tinted marble.
It’s one of only a handful of well-known pink mosques located around the world.
Non-muslims are welcome to visit during non-prayer hours to explore the Main Prayer Hall, where soft, rosy sunlight is reflected off the pink interior walls and massive dome.
Hooded robes are provided free-of-charge to all women, as well as anyone who is not in proper attire for their visit.
As Putra Mosque is a fully-operating place of worship, visitors should keep in mind and observe religious protocols when here. These include removing shoes when entering the Main Prayer Hall and refraining from talking loudly.
Visiting hours for non-Muslims are as follows:

6. Climb up unique steps for elevated photo ops
Flights of steps may not sound like much of an attraction. But throw in vibrant paint and manicured foliage, and they instantly turn into eye-pleasing areas for urban photography.
Take Alamanda Steps for example. These colourful steps connecting Alamanda Shopping Mall to a riverside area was given a fresh coat of paint and geometric designs in 2019, and it has since become popular location for photo ops in the city.
A new landmark in Putrajaya is Tangga Putrajaya Steps , another set of steps in the city that has been attracting attention online. It was opened to the public in October 2021 as a recreational area for residents, as well as a new spot to catch panoramic views of Putrajaya.
The flight is about 30-metres in length and comprises 248 steps. Its design is inspired by well-known steps from abroad such as Spanish Steps in Italy, and also one closer to home – Batu Caves.
When the hotter months of March and April are around the corner, visitors can expect to see pink and white Tecoma trees in bloom along the steps.
Alamanda Steps Address: Jalan Alamanda, Presint 1, 62000 Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya Opening hours: 24 hours, Daily
Tangga Putrajaya Steps Address : PPJ 277 Laman Perdana, Persiaran Sultan Sallahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Presint 1, 62000, Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya Opening hours: 24 hours, Daily
7. Visit an Iron Mosque, or Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque
Another equally impressive mosque here is Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque. Dubbed the “Iron Mosque” by locals, this open-concept mosque is constructed mainly of stainless steel, giving it a futuristic look that sets it apart from more traditional mosques.
The mosque is open to visitors during non-prayer hours, so architectural buffs can check out its stunning interior influenced by Chinese and German architecture. This mosque’s charms include its many symmetrical arches and minimalist dome.
As with all places of worship, visitors are expected to dress and act appropriately. Women and anyone not dressed accordingly can loan hooded robes for free.

- Top Putrajaya Attractions
You might want to know what are the Top Putrajaya Attractions if you are thinking of visiting Putrajaya,
Putrajaya , Malaysia's federal administrative capital, is a modern planned city with construction having started in only the late 1990s and no expense has been spared in creating a world class modern living and working environment.
It might not be the most exciting city on the planet but it sure is pretty. About 38% of the city's 4900 hectare area has been set aside as green areas and indeed its parks are, in my opinion, the top Putrajaya attractions.
A central feature to the city is a man-made 650 hectare lake whose tentacles extend into wetland zones, boating and water sports areas. The lake is designed to cool down the city as well as help with flood control and water purification.
Spanning these stretches of water are some spectacular bridges which are illuminated with changing coloured lights at night.
Add to this a number of grand Government buildings, mosques, palaces and monuments and you have a visually appealing cityscape.
Here is my list of the Top Putrajaya Attractions
Cruise Tasik Putrajaya
One of the best ways to see the city's sights is by taking a 45 minute daytime or evening sightseeing cruise on a comfortable air-conditioned 76 seater cruise boat. Gondola-style boat rides are also available.
Marina Putrajaya
With a musical fountain, extreme water sports, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and much more there is plenty to do at Marina Putrajaya.
Putrajaya Botanical Garden (Taman Botani)
Putrajaya has some of the nicest urban parks in the country and my favourite is the Putrajaya Botanical Garden, a beautifully manicured park showcasing tropical plant and tree specimens.
Wetlands Park (Taman Wetland)
This is said to be the largest man-made freshwater wetlands in the tropics. Here you can learn how wetlands act as a natural filtration system and see some of the creatures that live in wetlands habitats.
Agriculture Heritage Park (Taman Warisan Pertanian)
Here is where you can see examples of traditional Malaysian crops such as rubber, palm oil, fruit trees, cocoa, herbs and spices.
Taman Wawasan
Taman Wawasan is a tranquil park in the heart of the city with bicycle and jogging paths, lotus ponds, splendid views and even a pebble beach.
Taman Saujana Hijau
This is a hilltop park planted with pines and conifers and designed to have a more European feel.
Rimba Alam Park
This is a forest park with horse riding paths running along the ridges and hilltops on the eastern edge of Putrajaya.
Putra Mosque
One of Putrajaya's top landmarks, this imposing pink granite mosque is capable of accommodating 15,000 worshippers. Elements of its basement design have similarity to the King Hassan Mosque in Casablanca while the minaret is thought to resemble the Sheikh Omar Mosque in Baghdad.
Prime Minister's Office Perdana Putra
This huge Moghul-style green domed building is the seat of power in Malaysia and contains the offices of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and various other arms of government.
Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC)
This is a massive convention centre with a distinctive architectural design said to be shaped like a royal belt buckle. It is not utilised as much as it could be but is worth visiting if only for the fine views from its hilltop position.
Bridges
Bridges might seem an unusual choice for top Putrajaya attractions but the city's unique and distinctive bridges are something special. They include the Putra Bridge, the Seri Perdana Bridge, the Seri Bakti Bridge, the Seri Gemilang Bridge and the Seri Wawasan Bridge. Some of them are brightly illuminated at night. Malaysia's premier annual flower and garden festival, Putrajaya Floria, has a new permanent site near the Seri Saujana Bridge.
Putrajaya Challenge Park
This is a park for adventure and thrill-seekers with a giant indoor rock climbing centre, an extensive concrete BMX and skate-board park and cross-country mountain bike trails. Definitely one of the top Putrajaya attractions.
Millennium Monument
The Millennium Monument features a path way which wraps around the lower levels of the column features a timeline of engraved glass panels which trace the important milestones in Malaysia's history over the centuries up to the year 2000.
Seri Perdana
Seri Perdana is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. This sprawling complex with extensive landscaped gardens comprises three main blocks - one for receptions and protocol, one for banquets and one as the residence. It used to be open to the public but no longer.
Putrajaya Equestrian Centre
This facility is not very well known but has a riding school open to the public at reasonable rates with packages for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. The centre also has equestrian and polo fields, dressage arena, grandstand and paddock and hosts the occasional racing and show jumping event.
Cycling in Putrajaya
Cycling in Putrajaya is a pleasure. There are many places to choose from but here is my suggested route map for the best urban bike ride in Malaysia.
For those rainy days there are a couple of small museums in Putrajaya which are worth seeing. There is the Justice Museum which gives information on how Malaysia's legal system developed. Then there is the Museum of Nature where you can find stuffed examples of endangered Malaysian mammals and a collection of exotic insects.
Skyrides Festivals Park
At Skyrides Festivals Park in Putrajaya you can enjoy a tethered helium balloon ride or test your Ninja skills on Sky Warrior Rainforest Challenge.
Royal Floria Putrajaya
This is the number one happening in Putrajaya's events calendar. Held annually since 2007, this world class flower and garden show attracts huge crowds and gets better and better each year. Read full details of this year's event here.
Ayer@8 Promenade
This lakeside dining, shopping and commercial development is the latest addition to the city's retail therapy centres.
More Top Putrajaya Attractions Are Coming Soon.

"Federal Territory of Malaysia"
Putrajaya tourism.
Located in Malaysia, Putrajaya also referred to as the Federal Territory of Putrajaya is a city situated towards the south of Kuala Lumpur. Putrajaya is known for its well built late 20th-century architecture of the Putrajaya Mosque and Iranian style architecture of the Putra Bridge which overlooks the famous man-made Putrajaya Lake.
In Sanskrit, ‘Putra’ means prince or male child and ‘Jaya’ means success or victory. The city was named Putrajaya after the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. It is based on the theme of a garden city which is modern, exquisite, futuristic and Malaysian but is in absolute harmony with the natural environment. The streets of Putrajaya provide a European feel while the government buildings provide a blend of modern architecture and Islamic Arts. In the north of the city is the Putrajaya Botanical Garden, the biggest botanical garden in Malaysia (covering an area of 92 hectares) which contains Asian and African plants. The China-Malaysia Friendship Garden is a lakeside park which is home to varied flora. The man-made 650-hectare lake provides scope for water activities and boating and the spectacular bridges are illuminated with changing colour lights providing beautiful views at night. Almost 38 per cent of Putrajaya is covered with green areas and wetlands meant to preserve its ecosystem while imparting a retreat from the strain of a modern lifestyle with its atmosphere and incredible attractions. The palaces, mosques and monuments in the city are other visually appealing settings.

Cops hunt for suspect who delivered fake bomb to Tourism Ministry building

KUALA LUMPUR (June 27): Police are hunting for an individual believed to be the suspect who delivered a fake bomb package to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) in Putrajaya on June 5.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said a sketch of the man wearing a face mask was captured at the office of a delivery company in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, on the same day the package was sent to Motac.
He urged anyone who has seen the man, who was wearing a red shirt, jacket, and black head covering, to come forward to assist the police.
“Investigations show that the suspect carried out the package delivery process using another person’s identity.
“The individual whose identity was used has confirmed that he did not go to the delivery office in Sungai Buloh and is unaware of any delivery transactions,” he told a press conference at the Brickfields district police headquarters here today.
Information about the incident can be conveyed to the Putrajaya district police headquarters or the Kuala Lumpur Police hotline at 03-21159999.
On another matter, Rusdi said police have identified four locations in the capital city being used as prostitution dens offering cheap sexual services to customers.
“Kuala Lumpur police vow to eradicate places and activities of prostitution. I do not want to see street prostitution attracting people to stop by the roadside just to look at them.
“Police will take continuous action not only at those locations but also at other identified spots,” he said.
He said 409 raids were conducted to combat prostitution activities in six districts here from January to June 23 this year.
From these operations, 1,691 individuals from various countries were arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution activities. – Bernama

Visitor attractions closed, abandoned, or overrun by tourists
Posted: 26 March 2024 | Last updated: 6 May 2024
The ubiquity of travel has led to overcrowding by tourists at some of the world's best-known vacation destinations and visitor attractions . Historically, bad planning and economic recession has led to the closure or abandonment of a number of fine buildings. And at the lowest end of the scale, wanton vandalism has been blamed for the destruction of several natural landmarks. So, what's going on?

ITC PROMOTES MUSLIM-FRIENDLY TOURISM AND ISLAMIC TOURISM MONTH AT MALAYSIA HALAL EXPO 2024
PUTRAJAYA, 26 JUNE 2024 – The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is pleased to announce its participation at the Malaysia Halal Expo 2024. The event will be held from 28 to 30 June 2024, from 10 am to 10 pm at the Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC).
ITC’s participation in the expo is three-fold:
- i) to sign an MOU with Malaysia Budget and Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) for the provision of MFTH training and adoption of MFAR among its members
- ii) to create awareness for the various Muslim-Friendly tourism products and services offered by its strategic partners in tourism
- ii) to promote its upcoming signature events, the home-grown Islamic Tourism Month and World Islamic Tourism Conference
En. Nizran Noordin, Director-General of ITC says: “The Malaysia Halal Expo is an excellent platform to reach out to the consumer market and share with them the Muslim-friendly tourism offerings available in Malaysia. We are also here to create excitement for the Islamic Tourism Month just around the corner beginning 16 August to 30 September, during which we hope more partners will come on board to provide great offers and promotions that showcase Malaysia as a culturally rich, inclusive, and exciting destination for all.”
Demonstrating the breadth of Muslim-Friendly Malaysia as a tourist destination that supports the faith-based needs of Muslim tourists, ITC has invited 11 of its Muslim-friendly partners from various business sectors to join the Malaysia Halal Expo 2024. These partners include:
Visit ITC’s booth at the Muslim-friendly Malaysia Pavillion (H11) or contact our representatives, Fitra ( [email protected] ) or Syed Muneer ( [email protected] ) to tap into the Muslim tourist market with ITC.
About the Islamic Tourism Centre
Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is an entity under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia, tasked to develop the Islamic Tourism segment for Malaysia. It advocates for Muslim-friendly tourism (MFT) by offering research and market intelligence, training, industry development consultation, Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH) services standards and recognition, and information exchange.
Malaysia was named the top country in the region in the MFTH sector by the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2022. The country also retained the top-ranked destination in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2024, a position it has defended since the launch of the Index in 2015. Malaysia was recognised as the Top Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year (OIC) and the Top Muslim Women-Friendly Destination of the Year in Halal in Travel Awards 2023.
In addition, ITC was named the recipient of the Strategic Business Alliance Award at The BrandLaureate World Halal Best Brand E-Branding Awards 2021. It is a recognition of ITC’s efforts and endeavours in formulating new strategies to meet the new normal of the business environment to ensure business continuity and sustainability, notwithstanding its role in developing and growing the Islamic tourism segment in Malaysia.
These recognitions are an added motivation for ITC to continue to strengthen its efforts in being a prime mover and leading institution to ensure Malaysia is at the forefront of MFTH.
