Too bad the reviews aren't higher for this place- I suspect it's because it feels more corporate than quaint for the area it's in. However, on a Sunday evening, when the only other options open were take-out food and bars- it was the best open option in the middle of the old city with an easy parking lot nearby for travelers just stopping through. Food quality was great for the price. The Tour du Jour at 15€ was a great deal for salad, and meat and veggie dish, and a fruit cup dessert. Service was friendly and efficient, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Good place to enjoy some food and drinks We stayed in a nearby village on our way to Paris. For a quick snack we headed to Auxerre for a bit of sight-seeing. It was a sunday and the town was pretty much dead. This place here looked good and offered outdoor-seating with some shade and allowed dogs outside. Since it was so hot, we weren't overly hungry. First we ordered some Ricard with Ice, which was very refreshing. Our dog got a bowl of cold water, which the nice waiter brought. Then we shared a salad: Rustique XL. And that was surprisingly good. Greens, potatoes, tomatoes, bacon, cheese and poached eggs and bread. Really enough for us to share. It's more like a meal than a salad, in a good way! The price was fair, given the location and the nice outdoor space. A nice visit! Also one of the few places that were open for a meal on this sunday.

unfriendly waiters, daily special was really ugly and pathetic, afterwards had to call a waiter myself to get my table cleaned and asked for a coffee, felt like 15 min. after that it took him more than 10 min to bring the coffee to me, even if it was ready on the bar...

“Great Pizza” Review of La Tour d'Orbandelle

Just a great lunch stop for a quick Pizza. Cannot comment on any other offerings but we thoroughly enjoyed a Pizza and a coffee. It seems like it could be part of a chain of restaurants but I am not sure. It's not fine dining but a pleasant casual atmosphere.

I have been visiting France for over 40 years, and even had the pleasure of living in Paris for a year in my teenage years. Without doubt, eating (if one can call it that) at La Tour was the worse restaurant experience in this gastronomic country in all those years. My wife and I ordered the half pizza with salad. I chose the Calzone while my wife had a standard pizza. While her pizza arrived charred, mine was just outright burnt. I pointed this out to the waiter who agreed to re-fire the pizza. Within minutes I was presented with another charred pizza. Again, I pointed this out to the waiter. This time, the restaurant manager arrived. He explained that, as it was a Calzone pizza, I either had to have to burned on the outside or cold on the inside. Having eaten Calzone pizza on many previous occasions, this was news to me. I told him that I thought that the 'second' pizza was the first pizza and that they had simply returned the pizza to my table. On that accusation, he went off to the kitchen to return with the first burnt pizza. They shared a quite remarkable resemblance to each other. My bad for having thought that it was the same pizza returned when it turned out that the kitchen was perfectly capable of burning TWO Calzones almost identically. Somehow, this fact was supposed to make me feel better. Basically, if the outside is burnt, while the inside is cold, the oven is too hot! It might make for 'fast food' but at what price? Without doubt, avoid this 'restaurant' as there are so many better alternatives close by.

This is a very central location and has a bright and fresh feel to it The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. It is good value. There were many French diners in when we were there and it is open for most of the day so easier to find somewhere to eat if you want to eat supper early. However I would avoid the Steak Tartar as three of were ill after eating this and the one who didn't was fine......

First of all: it isn't a fast food-restaurant as you may know it. You get some great dishes: from classical french food to normal burgers and fries. But they are excellent. The service is nice and friendly, the prizes are good, and the food is just awesome. Fresh burgers, good desserts, really good coffee. Just perfect.

I guess the French call this a fast food place because you get faster service than in most French restaurants; however, the food didn't resemble anything I've eaten in a fast food restaurant in the US and I mean that in a good way. I had a Croque Madame and frites and my husband had duck breast and ratitoulle. He had a glass of beer and I had a demi botlle of wine (another wonderful French/European treat). Can't remember the price and haven't gotten our credit card bill yet, but it was inexpensive. Pretty good ambience for fast food and great sit down service.

It's always a good sign when a restaurant fills up. We arrived early and a. S our meal progressed the staff got very busy. I had a formule with some decent foie gras a nice pork chop with chestnut mash (I need a recipe for... this) and a fresh fruit salad. My wife enjoyed a burger and chips. For this we paid very little more than we paid for a rather inadequate snack at a motorway and services. More

Choice of restaurants in auxerre is limited on a Sunday evening, particularly if one has not booked. Only wanting a burger and pizza we chose here. Friendly staff, covid compliant. Terrace on the square. Beers on draught and an excellent Chablis for just €20. Pizza... very acceptable. Burger excellent, homemade and cooked perfectly. Good budget choice-2 mains, 2 large beers and the Chablis for €61. More

We had the plate if the day and it was a nicely cooked beef recipe with a very fair price. Big menu available. The location is not ideal but the balcony is cute. Overall it made a very good impression on us.

Decided on this restaurant for convenience for our night in Auxerre. Not got much to say about the food as it was average for what we paid. However, would not recommend anyone to go, due to complete arrogance and ignorance of a male member of... staff. While we were waiting to chose, he stood there rattling his pen off his notepad like a petulant child and tutting when we asked him any questions about the menu. When asking for the bill at the end he totally ignored us, started talking to a local gentleman and then walked away never to return. Although it did spoil our evening, we will not allow it to spoil the rest of our time in France, as up to now the service and hospitality we have received has been nothing short of excellence. More

Very poor service. Waited 20 minutes for the drinks! Got the wrong meat and a very short and unfriendly answer by the female waitress who stated to be the “Responsable”. Steaks served with fries on a plate but without any decoration, not a single vegetable!... 90€ for this was far too expensive!!!! On our fortnight trip, the worst Restaurant by far!!! Never ever! Bummer for lunch. Very cheap plastic covered pages in a hard-bound book. No authenticity. The food was terrible- all of us left half our meal on the plate. Having skipped breakfast, we checked out a number of places nearby for an early lunch. La Tour seemed the most inviting and it starts serving from 11:30. We were almost the first in, but it was busy by 12:15. The menu is mostly burgers, pizza... and salads. A good lunch menu. We opted for burgers. Very tasty and nice chips. We struggled to find anywhere to eat. Between Covid and places closed on a Tuesday and not having a reservation we ended up at La Tour. Well, we ate. But it wasn’t great. Two plat du jour, two starter salads, a birder and a steak;... 3 soft drinks and a carafe of wine. A cool E100 which was a rip off. And then our burger was seriously not ‘medium’ but raw. We asked for it to be cooked a bit more and an upset chef sent it back charred (like black). The waiter just shrugged and walked off... so we left. Advice would be to try and book something decent if you’re planning to be in town. And ironically the really nice places do E25 pp for a great 3 course choice! Won’t be back and would suggest you avoid this place if you can. More

We ate here because it was a bit early for other restaurants and we were tired. It really wasn't great, my salmon was over-cooked and my husband's carbonara was huge but dull. You can do better!

Return visit that didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly and provided seating in air conditioned area during a heatwave. Plenty of choice available on the menu. Food was good and priced fairly

It was late and we couldn't find anywhere nicer. Modern, no atmosphere. Avoid the fish on the set menu; I wouldn't give it to my cat 🐈

It's always a good sign when a restaurant fills up. We arrived early and a. S our meal progressed the staff got very busy. I had a formule with some decent foie gras a nice pork chop with chestnut mash (I need a recipe for... this) and a fresh fruit salad. My wife enjoyed a burger and chips. For this we paid very little more than we paid for a rather inadequate snack at a motorway and services. More

Choice of restaurants in auxerre is limited on a Sunday evening, particularly if one has not booked. Only wanting a burger and pizza we chose here. Friendly staff, covid compliant. Terrace on the square. Beers on draught and an excellent Chablis for just €20. Pizza... very acceptable. Burger excellent, homemade and cooked perfectly. Good budget choice-2 mains, 2 large beers and the Chablis for €61. More

We had the plate if the day and it was a nicely cooked beef recipe with a very fair price. Big menu available. The location is not ideal but the balcony is cute. Overall it made a very good impression on us.

Decided on this restaurant for convenience for our night in Auxerre. Not got much to say about the food as it was average for what we paid. However, would not recommend anyone to go, due to complete arrogance and ignorance of a male member of... staff. While we were waiting to chose, he stood there rattling his pen off his notepad like a petulant child and tutting when we asked him any questions about the menu. When asking for the bill at the end he totally ignored us, started talking to a local gentleman and then walked away never to return. Although it did spoil our evening, we will not allow it to spoil the rest of our time in France, as up to now the service and hospitality we have received has been nothing short of excellence. More

Very poor service. Waited 20 minutes for the drinks! Got the wrong meat and a very short and unfriendly answer by the female waitress who stated to be the “Responsable”. Steaks served with fries on a plate but without any decoration, not a single vegetable!... 90€ for this was far too expensive!!!! On our fortnight trip, the worst Restaurant by far!!! Never ever! Bummer for lunch. Very cheap plastic covered pages in a hard-bound book. No authenticity. The food was terrible- all of us left half our meal on the plate. The burger supposedly cooked medium well was raw and bloody. The pasta carbonara was not even as... good as Kraft Mac n Cheese. I would avoid unless you are desperate. More

Having skipped breakfast, we checked out a number of places nearby for an early lunch. La Tour seemed the most inviting and it starts serving from 11:30. We were almost the first in, but it was busy by 12:15. The menu is mostly burgers, pizza... and salads. A good lunch menu. We opted for burgers. Very tasty and nice chips. Dishes on other tables looked good too. Friendly and efficient service. Excellent coffee. More

We struggled to find anywhere to eat. Between Covid and places closed on a Tuesday and not having a reservation we ended up at La Tour. Well, we ate. But it wasn’t great. Two plat du jour, two starter salads, a birder and a steak;... 3 soft drinks and a carafe of wine. A cool E100 which was a rip off. And then our burger was seriously not ‘medium’ but raw. We asked for it to be cooked a bit more and an upset chef sent it back charred (like black). The waiter just shrugged and walked off... so we left. Advice would be to try and book something decent if you’re planning to be in town. And ironically the really nice places do E25 pp for a great 3 course choice! Won’t be back and would suggest you avoid this place if you can. More

We ate here because it was a bit early for other restaurants and we were tired. It really wasn't great, my salmon was over-cooked and my husband's carbonara was huge but dull. You can do better!

In the centre of Auxerre next to a large car park this place was a real find. We had pizzas and salads during our stay. They have a great offer if you are dieting- half size pizza, any pizza on the menu, and salad. Wine... was decent and good value, service was informal and efficient More

We have eaten here a couple of times now. It is one of the few restaurants in Auxerre that opens on a Monday. We are surprised at the negative reviews it has received. It is not a place for fine dining but the food is... pleasant and very reasonably priced. On both occasions service has been prompt and friendly. More

Very average pizza and incredibly rude service from a waitress who could not care less about working there.

Return visit that didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly and provided seating in air conditioned area during a heatwave. Plenty of choice available on the menu. Food was good and priced fairly

It was late and we couldn't find anywhere nicer. Modern, no atmosphere. Avoid the fish on the set menu; I wouldn't give it to my cat 🐈

You can choose from pizzas, burgers, salads and other items. Service is with a smile and good suggestions. Price is reasonable.
