Facilities: very new 5-star hotel; clean & spacious; booking the deluxe ocean room was truly worth it; you can just lie on the bed & look at the clear blue waters of the pool & the ocean; we booked rooms 709 & 710. on the 2nd night, i was able to watch the fire dance from my room's balcony. THe hotel provides free shuttle service in the a.m. & afternoon to & from Cebu City (SM & Ayala Malls). On our last day, we went by shuttle to SM & bought our pasalubongs (dried fish & squid). Near SM is CNT resto where you can get Cebu lechon. They can pack your lechon orders in a small box, ready for transport by plane. But be ready for a queue for this much-touted Cebu lechon. Taxi driver also recommended Rico's lechon Cebu.

Shangri La has already established a name for itself as it is already a common knowledge for everyone that it is a 5-star hotel. So already expect a good service from its staff, which I can attest to, nice, clean and spacious rooms with a great view of sunrise and sunset as well, great food, great facilities and everything that is to be expected of a 5-star hotel to have. But what made it stand out? It is actually their beach. I have been traveling all over the Philippines for quite some time now and have not actually adored Mactan's beaches since sand is not as fine as the one's in Boracay or Bohol, but Shangri La turned this around by actually developing their beach front. Yes its sand is not as fine, but hey, I haven't been to any hotel who need not to hire a boat to go somewhere to go snorkeling. It is readily available right at your door step as Shang has taken care of the reefs. Aside from that, they have outstanding beach beds. Oh yes, none that I have seen in most resort hotels that I have been to. Words would not be enough to describe how I felt about our stay in Shangri La, So I guess, you should just see it for yourself, it is a gem in Mactan, Cebu which I highly recommend that you visit.

Every member of staff is friendly and willing to asist you, the food is exceptional and has a wide variety form many different countries, the pool is amazing and I loved the large bed type sofas in front of the beach bar. The staff will serve you wherever you are, at the beach, pool, etc. There is a large variety of watersports available as well as pool and badminton inside, there is also a gym. The only negative i have is the shallows of the sea are very rocky and not suitable to paddle in

Mandarin Plaza Hotel

I've stayed in 5 stars hotels in Philippines for my business trips and I must say Movenpick Mactan tops the best in hospitality. You are welcomed and greeted at all times throughout the stay. In comparison to facilities, I hope they could do better and service at the Ibiza Beach Club could be improved. Overall we had a splendid stay!

They were able to help me on all of my inquiries during my stay. The room is spacious, clean, and bright. You have your own veranda to chill if you prefer. Their front beach is a must VISIT! - even if you're not staying in their resort, you can still walk up there and check it. The sand is so fine and white(Boracay still no. 1), and well maintained. The water is so clear and fortunately not many people swimming during I was there. The food in their restaurant is good. Breakfast was really nice. Now, this resort is not in Alona Beach so make sure you're aware of that. If you like to bar hop, then you have to take a habal-habal to get to the Alona Beach which is around 10-15mins away. Overall, This resort is one of the best in Panglao. Will definitely book it again.

As a frequent business traveler to Cebu City for the past 10 years, I would highly recommend the hotel for both the leisure and business traveler. For the most part the hotel staff are very friendly and attentive to the guests needs. The food preparation and taste is above average with the hotel serving a very good breakfast buffet each morning in Cafe Uno. The hotel has free wifi acess throughout the hotel which is unusual for most Philippine hotels which charge the guest for the service. If you are arriving at Mactan International Airport I would recommend contacting the Waterfront guest services staff in the arrival lobby and telling them you want a normal airport car to the hotel. The charge is approximately 295 pesos ($6.00) for the 30 minute drive to the hotel. There is no need to take a more expensive hotel lemo which is much more expensive. The Waterfront Hotel is equal in service and cheaper in price than the other major brand named hotels such as the Cebu City Marriott, Hilton Mactan Island or Shangri-la Mactan Island Resort

I finally found a nice hotel in Philippines. This hotel is relatively new. Just walking distance to Ayala mall. I did not eat there when I was informed that the buffet breakfast was $18 US. Never had a breakfast that good. This is probably why I just booked only the room originally. I would definitely stay here again. The staff was great.

For sure we will go back.

We had two children with us. A third adult could also fit in and sleep on the long sofa along the window. There's an extra blanket but no extra pillow provided. The bathroom is separate from the toilet which is a PRO for us, but our room has no bathtub. I mean, this is a five-star hotel right? A bathtub is a must. Good thing the swimming pool is not a disappointment. The kids had a really good time. The temperature and height of the water was just right for both the kiddie and adult areas. Best time to swim is on early morning. But the CONS are: (1) we were charged for making an outside domestic call. It's so petty of them, it's not even an international call. (2) WiFi is not free on all rooms, just in the check-in lobby. (3) no free coffee. everything must be bought. No near convenience stores, you have to cross to go to MOA. (4) outside food are not allowed in the pool area. (5) cable tv does not include Disney Jr nor Nick Jr. But overall, we had a great staycation in the metro. we would definitely come back. All thanks to their pool.

Fantastic location across the road from creature comforts provided by Resort World. Staff extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel was clean and well equipped with gym and pool. Great starting point for travels around the Philippines, hotel was able to effortlessly manage my party of 10 people as we all arrived at different times under one booking. Free shuttle bus from airport is also available, no issues with noise/ excessive pollution from main road, felt very safe walking around hotel at all hours of day. My only reservations: -value for money - not for long term stay if you're watching your pesos -very commercial and modern which is comfortable - but no Filipino flavour in the decor, no authenticity -card access to use the lifts and floor restricted access became tiresome especially when trying to visit friends on different floors. Helpful hint - there is a blind available in the shower so you can choose whether your partner watches you shower or not from the bedroom....

With the amount that i have shelled out, i should say that it is one of the best values there is. The place is just like one of those five star hotels and it seems that Bayfront has been rated below as what it should be. The room is very spacious especially if you are travelling solo, internet is fast, breakfast is great. Everything there is in a hotel is here. If they could in a bath tub and a walk in closet its a suite not just any room anymore.

It is a recent hotel so everything is clean and good quality. Bedrooms are large with all luxury equipment. The hotel is located at the city center (do not go there for isolated/remote holiday type); very easy to go out and enjoy many restaurants. Beach is a little bit crowded as it was not private to the hotel. But enough sunbeds for people who want to lie on the beach. Plenty of diving centers at foot range. Our reservation would be on the food at the hotel restaurant. Though it is better than other Philippines hotel, it was still disappointed. Breakfast was a buffet and could satisfy almost any culture. But food was not very tasty (but better than other hotels). Overall one of the best hotels!

One of the best places to stay in Manila. This hotel has it all, and more. The breakfast selection is beyond compare, and really makes you feel like they went all out to please every possible palate. Only a few minor gripes... But apparently western style bacon is a mystery to this part of the world. Even at the 5 star level their seems to be an amount of mistrust over minor things like paying cash for room service. Then even came back to demand 5 pesos after being given a 100 peso tip. This sort of thing cheapens the experience, and makes me fall short of giving them a full 5 stars. The drug or bomb dog when checking in makes you feel a bit uncomfortable, but I guess it's better safe than sorry in a country that has random attacks. We heard about a bombing of a popular tourist area while we were there. But I don't think you can find a more comfortable hotel in this part of the world. So overall, I would give the Midas top marks for being about the best hotel you can find in Manila, or any part of the Philippines for that matter.

We had booked this room somewhat last minute because we wanted a place to stay during our last night in the Philippines after spending about a week on Siargao Island. We figured it was close to the airport (so traffic would be SLIGHTLY better) and it would be nice to "treat ourselves". We had visited the pool a week prior when friends stayed there so we fell in love with the hotel right away. That also swayed our decision to stay here. We got an amazing deal on Agoda (via Kayak) so we couldn't not stay here. The staff was exceptionally nice and welcoming! Everyone was super friendly whether working at the door, security, registration, front desk, restaurants, pool staff, housekeeping etc. The room was to die for! I kept saying that the detail put into every aspect of the room was perfect. Very clean and intuitive. I confess we had a hard time with the lights but we eventually figured it out and thought it was a smart idea to use keys to activate everything. Loved the digitized "Do Not Disturb" signs. I think my favorite part of the room was the bathroom. Not sure if it was because we were using facilities on a secluded island previously but all in all best hotel bathroom I've seen. Designed really well and the toiletries/amenities were super stylish. I loved that even the toothbrushes matched the overall decor. We are fans of fine dining so staying at a hotel with Nobu right there was a dream! We made dinner reservations and savored the Omasake tasting menu. Divine! The staff at the restaurant were my favorite. On pointe throughout dinner service, especially Marlon, our waiter. After dinner we made our way to the spa for a couples massage. Perfect way to unwind. I highly recommend trying out their spa facilities. And their options for 3 pools were great, too. Loved the ambiance in the pool areas, and the pool bar staff were delightful. Enjoyed and appreciated the poolside service all around with towels, complimentary water, and clean locker rooms. While M

perfect location, free fast-speed wi-fi (with its own router per room, unlike the other hotels i've been in), room space/s were used very smart, ergonomics furniture. great value for your money, considering that they have not opened yet, i was informed that they started operational opening in march 2012, but their grand opening is not until next month: july 2012. pool usage was not very strict (unlike with the 2 4-star hotels i've used in ortigas area for the past 12 months)and i've been going to philippines every 2-3 months with my family. the bsa twin towers has two 52-storey towers (tower a & b) with 2 types of pool at the 52nd floor (connected by a bridge, almost similar to petronas twin towers i've been in to in malaysia. the pool at tower a was a lap swimming pool while at tower b is a lagoon pool, which is still not operational, at least during my 2-night stay there.. they were cleaning it. each pool has its own jacuzzi on each sides. what i really really liked about this hotel is the location. sm megamall is just at a crosswalk from the main door of the hotel no need for taxi which was a great saving for us! bec. it's atleast 50-70 pesos each way for a taxi/cab for us, including tip. st. francis square (for bargain or whole sale shopping) is just outside on the left-hand side and the podium (for more upscale shopping) is on the right-hand side of the main hotel door. taxis/cabs are available at the crosswalk (megamall taxi bay). take note however that i've observed there were 1 or 2 working elevators at the time i visited and construction was still on-going, but tolerable (unlike from the reviews i've read) and the areas/hallways around the elevators are still not properly ventilated, because they are still obviously unfinished. they also used the pool area as a breakfast buffet and/or function area, which is kind of awkward bec. it would look like you were crashing someone else's party (but heck! one of the reasons why i chose the hotel was for its pool).

The Heritage Hotel Manila

Unlike many hotels in Philippines this one is like what you would get in the west. Clean large rooms where things all work, great service and done western style. A good location for the airport, which is why I choose it, but there is not a lot close by outside of the hotel. Good for 1 night. Not the cheapest in the area bur you only get what you pay for.

We stayed on and off in this hotel for the last 3 weeks between our trips around the country when we got back to Manila this is the hotel we stayed at. When we had first arrived in the Philippines we had stayed at a different hotel for 2 days which didn't even come close to the standards of the Antel Best Western Hotel. We reserved the 1 bedroom mini suite The room was great. Very clean, has all the amenities of small kitchenette, slippers, robes, toiletries, mini bar and safe. The living room has a flatscreen tv with many cable channels, a couch and coffee table. The bedroom has an extremely comfortable bed, another flatscreen tv. Each room has its own air-conditioning. The bathroom was modern and had hot water all the time. There's free wifi for each floor of the hotel. And the wifi worked very nicely in the rooms I must say. The room was cleaned and tidied every day. We also used their laundry service which was excellent and everything came back to us perfect and on hangers and folded. When we took our trips around the Philippines we were gone for 3-5 days at a time and they stored our luggage for us for free! Was very pleasantly surprised by that. We stayed in all 3 buildings of the Hotel. They are all OK but the Serenity Tower is the newest of the 3 buildings so I definitely recommend specifically asking for that building of the hotel when booking your room. The rooms are more modern in the Serenity.

it's a long drive from the airport to hotel sheridan, but when you finally get there you'll see that this is the perfect place to do nothing but relax. you're away from traffic and noise. all you hear is the beach. wifi works, but don't expect to do anything fast. it's basic internet access. globe data signal works too, but not 3g. once you're here, you won't want to work anyway. we had a small snag on arrival with our room - they gave us two twin beds instead of the single king we requested. this was resolved with transfer to a room that had a queen and a single. this was the point at which i knew sheridan staff was a special group of people trained to deliver excellent service. the food was better than average for the philippines. after a brief scan of the nearby establishments, it was obvious that sheridan was the best within walking distance. fortunately, it was also affordable. the food bill for a two night, three day stay came to p3000 with two adults. breakfast buffet was included, the lunch buffet was just p per head, and we made use of room service on both nights. hotel features were far above average for places in the philippines that call themselves a "resort". seems that term gets thrown around a lot, but sheridan's pool, exercise area, and sports bar show that they really care about giving you ways to relax. if all else fails, there's tv in the room with crystal clear picture and a few channels of cignal satellite. we met another guest who was disappointed that he wouldn't find diving nearby. this is not a dive location. this is place to come and not have to think about anything else. it's an island getaway that doesn't have all the riffraff and loud noise. we'll definitely be back.

Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Golden Phoenix Hotel. During our month long vacation in the Philippines, we went on several trips outside of Manila but always came back to stay at the Golden Phoenix Hotel for a total of four stays! I think that’s proof enough of how much we liked this hotel. The best part during each stay is the entire hotel staff. They are all so accommodating, friendly and always ready with a smile. The daily breakfast buffet is averaged with some variety but the service is great! Having the Sea Residences across the hotel, guests can avail themselves of the various restaurants, salons, Thai massage, laundry (really cheap!) and other services. Each time we checked in to the hotel, we’ve always been happy with the cleanliness of the rooms that we got. To top it off, this hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the Mall if Asia. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

At first we booked a place here on October 2016, but sadly our trip was cancelled because of the typhoon that hit the whole Philippines. Therefore we decided to rearrange the trip. July 2017, we finally came to this beautiful and wonderful resort. We are really happy here because the facilities are top-notch, the surroundings are really beautiful and the staffs are very kind and caring. I really cannot recommend this place enough. From the very friendly receptionist, the always smiling waiter and waitress in the bar, up until our friendly Private Tour Guide, this place is just the best. Value for money? Definitely! Location? Yes it is a bit secluded but perfect for relaxing and honeymoon. Cleanliness? Yes. There are some insects and sands here and there but it is expected since you're practically living in the middle of an insland. Staff? Super friendly, accomodating. They rearrange for my whole trip and stay here without even charging extra additional fee. How kind of them! Facilities? Top notch! Jaw dropping. Bluetooth speaker in the room, Water. Personal bar loaded with drinks. Bar. Infinity pool. Kayaking rental (for free), Gym, etc etc etc. You'll never be bored even staying here for several days! Stay here! You won't regret it!

I booked a 10th Floor Grand Bayview Corner Suite for one night at Solaire. The staff are highly trained Filipinos who are very polite, accommodating, energetic, sharp and they seem to love their jobs. Excellent Management. The room was very spacious, with two (2) large Flat Screen TVs, Long L-Shaped Leather Sofa, Las Vegas Style Bar, King Size Bed, Digital Safe, Writing Desk, SPA-like bathroom with tub and a mesmerizing view of The Manila Bay. I strongly believe that Solaire has got the best views of the Manila Bay even in their Restaurants. They Have the best property location in the developing Entertainment City Manila. They offer 24-Hour Energetic Room Service. You would not be shy to call at 3am. The food and cocktails were really great and World-Class. The pool bar area was just wonderful and very relaxing as they also play modern - classic - chill-out / lounge music. Although I used to be a self-proclaimed professional poker player, I never sat at the tables nor played any Casino games available in the hotel during our stay. But definitely, Solaire is a haven for finesse gamblers. Maybe next time I'll try for old times' sake. Solaire will make you feel like a High Roller even if you are not a gambler. They have a newly opened Private Karaoke Villas which are exclusive for Members Only. The membership is a deposit of Php. 1,000,000 with a consumable bonus reward of Php. 200,000. However, they still entertain Non-Members with a Villa Rate of Php. 30,000 Consumable for 4 Hours Karaoke stay. Because of this, we just decided to sing in our bathroom. They also offer Massage Services for USD 100 for 90 Minutes. Breakfast at Fresh was indeed fresh and yes, refreshing. We were very lucky to have been given a 4PM check-out time which gave us a chance to swim one last time after brunch and enjoy our suite longer. It was a wonderful stay at Solaire and we hope to do it again soon. They will make you feel like A Million Bucks. Cheers to Don Enrique.

I am an American who lives a pretty good life in the Philippines, used to nice hotels and great food. I read many reviews about the Bayview Park Hotel, many of which were negative left by foreigners. I am going to attempt to set the record straight from a foreigners perspective. 1. If you are thinking that the Bayview is a 5 star hotel, expecting a 5 star experience, then you are going to be severely disappointed. 2. If you are expecting a very nice hotel for $50 a night with everything you need, then you will be very happy. Lies and Rumors: 1. #706 on the Superior Room Rate without Breakfast. 2. The Staff are wonderful. The people who said that they were rude must not have grumpy because they were extremely nice to us and everyone else. 3. The Hotel does NOT smell, it smell just fine. 4. The rooms are NOT small, they are very large. 5. The bed was a little hard but not too hard. Nice bed. 6. Additional comforters and pillow are available on request for free. 7. The rooms are older but newly updated. They have a fridge, a nice bed, newly painted walls, a really nice bathroom and everything you can want. 8. The AIRCON / Air works GREAT. We had to turn it down because it was so powerful. 9. The location is perfect. We were going to the embassy which is literally steps away from the hotel, but it is also central to everything. 10. Starbucks is in the same building. 11. Chowking, 7/11 and Yellow Cab are about 75 steps away 12. WIFI is available in more expensive rooms but ours was turned on for free. Typically 350 per day. 13. Breakfast was not included in our room because we got the $60 after taxes rate but typically 450 per person in the morning. It seems like a bit steep for the selection so I would NOT get the breakfast package.

Cheap places to stay in Philippines

This is not a place for travelers, unless they are on a really tight budget. The dorms are crowded, there are children crying every now and then and the light will be switched on and off even after midnight. However we were happy that the staff still gave their best to accommodate us and people who lived there. It was not a pleasant but a very interesting experience.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, this is good. But the location is poor. My taxi driver had trouble finding it. There are no decent restaurants nearby. Initially my reservation was cancelled without any notice on the day of our check-in.. But when I replied to their email, they were able to reply around pass 1 in the afternoon. The wifi is slow inside the rooms, so if you plan to upload your collected photos during the trip you will do it outside the room. The staff was not even apologetic to what happened but instead of me getting mad, I just let it go. The hot water in the shower is not that hot, lukewarm I guess. Enough to take a bath early 3 in the morning. The air conditioning is good for those lying near it, but for those placed near the door its quite warm already.

Your Space Pensionne

The accommodation and facilities are basic, what you would expect for a budget place. The best thing about this place is the staff who are very friendly and helped me book transport and get a good price.

Anilao Dive Inn

Dean and Kuya Roger were very nice hosts. The place is clean and is just a few steps away from the beach where you can dive and swim. Also, within a few kilometers is the jump point for Mt Gulugod Baboy to test yourself in hiking. I would definitely go back..

What we liked the most is how accommodating the owners are and the view of Rice Terraces. Kuya Romy and Ate Ruby are very kind and they even gave us tips on how to commute around Banaue and Sagada. The rate for the room and tour is very affordable. We spent 1000 pesos for Tappiya Water Falls and Awa View Deck which is good for 4 persons - a lot of trekking is required to reach those places. They also have a 2-year-old dog named Digong who joined us during the tour! :) NOTE: No signal. No internet. Water and Food is kind of expensive, though the food taste really good. I suggest you contact the owner regarding the booking. All in all, it was a very nice place to stay in Batad!

I loved how it is homey that I quite felt homesick by the time we left on to the next hotel we're to stay for one more night. I'd much prefer staying there over the other hotel because it felt closer to home and you get to interact closely with the staff. They are very much helpful and kind for giving us local insider tips for the cheaper means to get to places, directions to and from places, and they also offered us to share their meals with them which is pretty much one of the best Filipino traits and practices I know. They have pets, too. A few dogs (Hi, Alex!) and some cats and it is relaxing to have them around. The place is pretty basic, typical Filipino-type place. There's a bed, a table, an a fan, with shared bathroom, though the water flow is pretty weak, I didn't mind though because I was able to bathe nicely anyway. This can be addressed properly and hopefully be developed further, I think. It is not the cleanest but I didn't mind because it is not in filth either. Just the average. I'd count on the people using it like myself to clean up after since it is shared The location is close to town proper, just a few minute walk away from the Capitol where you can just hail a multicab or a tricycle to wherever you want to go. It is also close to the aiport and some restaurants like Kinabuch. For 400+ Philippine Peso a night for two people, I'd say this is one of the cheapest place you can get and if you're a no fuss, cowboy type, budget traveler, this is the place you'd want because of the good value for your money. Thank you for your genuine niceness, Ms. Che and Nanay and all the staff. We felt welcomed and we are happy to stay here again in the near future. :)

Bamboo Garden Business Inn

great hotel and 5 stars with everything, If you looking for a nice clean hotel then this is the one...yes it is old and dated but your not paying 5 star prices ...staff are very nice and speak excellent english...

Edam & Ace Hostel

So the Agoda location is correct but google maps has it wrong. I enjoyed this hostel although I didn't stay long, there is space to sit outside, its fairly close to the main road although along a dirt track and the breakfast was good, 2 eggs with toast and ham. The bunks were ok and there are some single beds as well. This would be my first choice for the city.

They organised my 100 Islands tour - negotiated a very fair deal for the trip and provided lots of great tips, as well as transport and lunch - what more could one ask for? I highly recommend it - it was the highlight of my Philippines trip. There was such a warm friendly welcome and attention to a travelers' needs. Stay there if you can - you'll have a lovely homey, friendly and informative experience with Nick, Alma and their wonderful kids. Best place I stayed in the Philippines!

We checked in here since this is near the north bus terminal and we only needed a place to take a shower and nap. However, the only thing I hate is the towel they lent me stinks a lot!! Like it was never washed and dried properly. My bf’s towel smells nice though. I think they should be more attentive to those stuff. oh and their water supply in their CR seems limited. But enough for you to shower. Overall, the place is safe, i really like the service. They just need to improve that towel thing. After an exhausting trip, all you would want is to get a good shower and they failed at that part. 👌🏻 Keep improving! 🤗

BATAD CRISTINA'S Main Village INN & Restaurant

We stayed here for 4 nights, absolutely amazing! Christina and her family is super friendly, hospitable and make great food as well. Most central place to stay in Batad by far, in the middle of the rice terraces. Warm showers, great facilities, we can't say enough good things about the place.

You really feel like a part of the family when you are staying at this place, this is by far the best place I have stayed in while I have been in the Philippines, mainly because of the people surrounding it(Travelling for two months). In addition, it has everything that a Backpacker needs, free water, wifi, coffee(one cup for breakfast) and the cheapest bed in town.

You can easily get a tricycle to the city centre for 40 peso (bargain with them). Or 30 minute walk to the city. 5 minutes from the airport. Host was soo chatty and friendly. Places to eat about 10 minute walk away and Vietnamese restaurant around the corner. Good value for money :)/

You have your privacy, it's quiet, clean and safe. You can lock the door of the capsule if you worried about your belongings but not enough space to sleep with. Cold shower like almost every hostel in Philippines (and Asia in general but with 30° outside it's ok) Around 12 capsules I guess so it's easy to met other guest but it's not the kind of social hostel where you'll met you travel buddy. Ideal for a stop before take a flight or when you arrived. Very close to south bus station where you can take a really cheap bus to go everywhere in Cebu. It was less than 2€ to go at Oslob (3h30 by bus)

So from there it is very easy to travel around others island if you stay long in Philippines. You have an hospital just behind the hotel and market just near by the port. In fact everyone on the Island knows about Das Traum Guest House. 2- The value for money is very very interesting. that's true it is not a resort, but you will be installed in a secure place, clean and the building looking like a colonial one is just beautiful. The picture on the web site is unfair and doesn't reveal the real beauty of the Guest House. By the way that's true there are some elements could be improved like the connectivity. They don't lie, they is not Wi-Fi so it's a little frustrate when you need to post your beautiful picture. They could also propose service like breakfast or more details about the touristic places or boat time.... Nevertheless with my friend, we spent a good time there. Thanks.

If you want privacy, you can hang your blanket on the bed posts as what other bedspacers do. I especially booked this place for the hot shower! It was nice. Note for the taller girls, as I am 5' 3'' (considered tall in Filipino standards), it can be awkward at the bathroom stalls as you can tower above the doors... and your knees may not fit in the smaller spaced ones when you sit on the toilet (there's one big enough on the corner, you can't miss it). Although the bathroom facilities were not catered for taller girls, I was glad I fit just right on the bed.

Bluewater Beach Resort is an outstanding place to spend a few days outside the chaos of the city. It's peaceful and the staff will make sure you have nothing to be worried of. The surroundings and buildings (2 floors maximum) are convenient and will give you a cozy feeling. Unlike some neigbouring resorts with huge buildings. The place is not too big, so I assume a getaway from 2-3 days is enough. If you plan to stay longer, I suggest you move to another resort after those days, so you see different things. The food is simply said: amazing. I have been living in the Philippines for almost a year now and always been disappointed with the food. Not in this resort! It starts with an amazing intercontinal breakfast buffet (from Croissants to Korean/Japanese soup, from kanelbule to rice). In the evening you can choose between various places and there is always a buffet with a theme. Everyday day another theme with a band/singer. Since it's a resort, the prices are above avarage (compared to the city), but still very acceptable compared to back home. I read somewhere that you should not stay on this island and that all places are like fortresses! Well, if that is so, then lock me up in those fortresses forever :)

I happenned to come across The Best Western and liked the pictures and the price. The rooms were very modern and the hardwood floors were much cleaner that the carpet at the InterContinental. The breakfast buffet was great and was included in the price of the room. The staff is extremely cordial, almost bending over backwards to assist you. For the price of a night(that includes all taxes) you can't beat the value here. The only drawback is they are about a mile away from the shopping mall, but the taxis are so cheap. They are still finishing up with constrauction, but all the major features of the hotel are working. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to the Philippines.

My first time in Philippines and i was so glad i choose this hotel. Because it is new, the cleanliness was the best, the hotel was located in just the best spot of the entire street, the room layout was fantastic, toilet was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The front office staff, bell boys were extremely professional and friendly. Everything was perfect..... until.....you start going to the restaurant or cafe on the 31st and 32nd floor. Although the greetings and friendliness was all so perfect, but the speed of the service was APPALLING! On one of the days, i had to wait 35 mins!!( yes 35 minutes!) for my breakfast to be served to me, and in that 35 mins, they took 20 mins to serve me a cup of tea. Truly disappointed with this as they are all so perfect in greeting and being friendly and professional but when it comes to the actual service, they are way way behind in standard. Be prepared to wait for at least 10 mins for everything and anything you request for. I would definitely choose to stay in this hotel again in a heartbeat but the only thing that would make reconsider is their service.

Although I don't imagine there's much in Alabang for the tourist, Azumi is definitely the best option for someone needing to be in Alabang, who doesn't want to spend megabucks on one of the huge chain hotels. Azumi is fresh a new with a very modern feel. The staff (who seem to to be great in number) are as friendly and professional as you would find in a 5-star hotel. The queen room was larg and had a little kitchenette with sink, jug and microwave, and also a large fridge (but no cooker), so we were able to eat at home when we were busy and just needed a quick heat-n-eat snack. The pool was nice, but although we had no trouble using it, as the penthouse was not booked, it seems to "belong" to the penthosue - i.e. the penthouse rooms look out onto the pool. The Wifi was good and usually fast. We only ate room service, but the Romulo restaurant always seemed to have customers. The two cocktails I had seemed very weak. Overall, if ou have reason to be in Alabang, there isn't much better than Azumi for the price (FYI, we had 30% off the rack price on Agoda).

Everything was put together so well and it was so organized. The staff I would give a million stars to. They were always happy and helpful. The food, drinks, vibe was just perfect. We took advantage of all the activities they had to offer and each was just as good as the one before. Best massage of my life was here. We can’t wait to go back again. If I had to give any criticism it would be to find ways to have us stay longer. After our three day trip we probably did and saw everything. Which was perfect. But if we were to stay longer I could see some days repeating itself. Which would not be a bad thing at all. But I would love to stay there for two weeks next time with ways of avoiding repetition entirely. Besides that, this destination should be a bucket list location for anyone reading this review. 1000 stars.

Check in: I made a big mistake i by mistake had the booking in wrong date and arrived a day early. the lady simply said, "Don't worry, we will take care of it". So helpful..... The rooms were not the best for price. But then again it i felt you will not really stay in that room if you are in that resort. So much to do out side. The aircon was leaking water in the veranda area. So there was a little puddle of water on the corner. (but not in the way). I felt they can improve one their cleaning up. But acceptable. One thing i really disliked that they don't have "hand shower" on the toilet. They should all hotels in Philippines has it. People are very very friendly and accommodating. When they saw my mom struggling to get down because of her feet problem. 3 wonderful ladies came running to lend their helping hand. So caring. Only in Asia (if not Philippines) this happens. Overall it is a nice place to spend time. Pool is big enough. View is BEYOND AMAZING. And they have so much water activity. It's just fun exciting and serene at the same time. I also liked their food. I did not find it extremely expensive like other closed gate resort. We regretted that we booked just one night. Worth a visit.

Rooms and bathroom clean, good shower, nice size rooms, buffet food downstairs is really good, The steak house upstairs not so good, they don't know the difference between savory food and dessert. A lot of restaurants in the Philippines has the same problem, they think sugar is a secret ingredient that makes everything taste better, not realizing it destroys the food that is suppose to be savory. Now for the complaint: the buffet is good and on the weekends if you don't have a dinner reservation you probably will not get a place to sit and eat. The hotel should show a little courtesy and give a little priority to their guest and inform them at check-in that the dinner buffet is busy on the weekends and offer to make dinner reservations for them so they will have a place to eat. Not to do so is being extremely rude and unprofessional to their hotel guests. I booked dinner each night for the rest of my stay at ACE at the Shangri-La, a little expensive but awesome food.

I enjoyed the view of the sea and sunset from my room and this was even better from the restaurant/bar area (as it was a higher vantage point). The drinks were excellent, the bar staff were friendly and I loved the mellow live music every night. The food was very good - I had better food during my stay in the Philippines but also much, much worse. Basically the food was above average for the area but not the best, I think for the price they could do better. But having said that I thought the breakfast was delicious. The room was excellent - high celing, well decorated, spacious, king sized bed and big TV with good channels available. The room was pre cooled when I arrived and I didn't see one mosquito during my stay. I enjoyed sitting on the terrace outside my room, taking in the nice view of all the beautiful plants and trees. My favourite aspect was the pool - amazing to look at and swim in, especially at night when the stars come out. Location was great too - away from all the noise and heat of Coron but it was still possible to walk into town and only 15 pesos on a tricycle. I would definitely recommend staying here!

close to perfect hotel with phenomenal service. The staff an service made my stay incredible. The hotel is a little pricey for when compared to other hotels in Philippines however for what you get and for the service offered it is well worth it. from the onsite dive shop to the organised day trips and onsite pools and restaurants. Definitely recommended.

We had selected Apulit as our starting point to our 3 weeks in Philippines to rest and relax as we had to travel for 24 hours to reach the country. Initially we had planned to stay for 3 nights, but opted to extend to 4 nights once there as we really didn’t want to leave this place. We traveled to the hotel by using ITI and from the moment we step out of the taxi at their private terminal we started 4 days of pure relaxation. I would recommend using ITI as the trip to the hotel in itself is a experience in it self (unless you are nervous about flying with small planes) and offers some beautiful sights from air and boat as well as a hassle free transfer. The resort itself is a beautiful paradise with 6 star service and exceptional staff, that really gives that little extra to your holiday. If you don’t like lying around in the sun all day there’s plenty of activities that can be booked (most of them are free). A nice surprise was that all food was included, something that we hadn’t realized when we booked. My girl friend is a vegetarian and although they lacked any tofu or beans in general, once the chef learned about this he prepared something special for her each evening which was much appreciated. The only hick up was the private van that we booked through the resort, that was going to take us to El Nido town after our stay didn’t show up so we had to wait for 1-2 hours in Taytay until they could find a replacement. But 2 guides from the resort stayed with us the whole time and gave us a tour of the old fort there, which just shows the level of services you can expect. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for and we are definitely going back if we visit the Philippines again.

That was the only downside. Staff are excellent. And at last, for a Philippines hotel, very good wifi.

They gave me a receipt as to be expected though. Our room was on the 9th floor, consistent with my online request for a higher floor accommodation. We encountered no problems with our room contrary to other reviews about some odor. All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, especially those assigned at the restaurant during our stay last September 29 to October 01, 2017. Some reviews complained about noise but I tried to investigate and I found out that the noise was no the fault of the hotel but of the construction at the front and rear of the hotel. A massive construction boom is in the city and I'm sure many establishments experience noise and couldn't do much about it. We also didn't experience hearing noise from adjacent rooms, unlike one or two reviews accusing this hotel of paper-thin walls. This is the Philippines, for goodness' sake. Walls here are constructed using concrete, unlike in the US where walls are made of wooden slats and plaster. It was when we checked out that we noticed the odor of cigarette smoke near the elevator at the 9th floor. I complained to the front desk and suggested that they should closely monitor guests' compliance with the no smoking policy. Check out took sometime considering that we were the only ones checking out that time and that there was no one other guest at the reception.

Having stayed at Pan Pacific, Manila, Dusit, Mandarin and Pen., Linden will always be my first pref as teh value for the money is the best in Manila. Most appealing about Linden is the spacious rooms and apartments which help to make you feel a great deal more comfortable that a pokey hotel room. Room furnishings are more like a home environment with very good desk(s) and ergonomic chair, stylish but not uncomfortably lavish living furnishings and excellent kitchen facilities. As a regular visitor to Manila I would be disappointed if I was unable to stay at this venue. It is clearly the best available in the 4 and 5 star bracket but without the unnecessary glitzy extras. I feel at home at Linden, and that is a great feeling to have in Manila. The staff at Linden do exactly what is required ... without fuss, bother and redundant glam. The only concern... breakfast. The only misgiving.

Was told we cant check in early. Came back at 2.30pm and the room was still not available. Went absolutely ballistic and then they magically had a room available. Left the room next morning at 9am and told the cleaning staff they could do our room. Arrived back at 4.30pm and still not done. Harsh words again and the room was serviced. I dont think they have enough room cleaning service staff to cover the hotel. Food is very good albeit a bit expensive even for a 5 star in the Philippines. Very noisy with a lot of children running around the hallways. Might be better on week days.

Ocean Adventure is just a few minutes from this resort. Zoobic Park is a 15 minute drive away you have to arrange your own taxi and quite expensive. We spent 1200php both ways to and fro. Beds are very comfortable. The TV channels are mostly Philippines and in tagalog and since we were visitors couldnt understand. Breakfast buffet included each morning and my daughter loved breakfast. The beach and activities offered are really good although we didnt try them due to commitment to the Zoo and Ocean Adv. The water was awesome and we swam until evening. .Had we stayed longer, we would have tried them. We had a short but lovely stay. A shuttle bus provided to get back into town 30 minutes drive. Will definitely come back again for a weekend getaway.

Shopping places and restaurants were just walking distance from the hotel. My friends in the Philippines met me at the hotel and was easy for them to find the place. My girlfriend always had a pleasant experience in Dusit. I recomended this hotel to my friends who are going to the Philippines. Had stayed in different hotels every time I go to the Phil but Dusit had top them all. Am planning to go back on Feb. 2009 and I definitely will book in Dusit. I used Agoda .com for better price compared to booking directly with Dusit Philippines. There were many amenities in the hotel spa, health club. etc. but I was not able to use time because of time limits. Transportation to the airport was arranged by the hotel. Highly recommended hotel.

Everything is highclass, not much people, you almost can have the public pool all by yourself. Also very instagramable, so many nice views for pictures! But this place is too healthy and natural that they only serve vegan food...in a high price, taste...not so good, mostly bland. They also don’t have sodas and canned drinks available....and their service such as spa and massage are very costly, but gym is free. And there’s many things you can do without paying a fortune. Great place over all

Imagine waiting for 30 minutes then just to go your seats and the food is bad...I can just imagine. Tried the bar on the penthouse. It was ok. The menu lacks food. They should have more selections since the restaurant at the ground floor closes at 10pm. 10pm is just like, you just got out from the office. If they want to position themselves as a five star hotel, they should have a 24 hour food service. Or just place a 711 beside your hotel so your guest can have an option. Room is ok, bathroom is GORGEOUS. The is the best bathroom so far. It has a single bathtub and a shower beside it. I will copy this design in my house. Everything is ok, maybe next time, they need more training on handling a fully booked hotel. I think they were overwhelmed and ill prepared for the number of people and kids that checked in.

Taal Vista Hotel

I recommend a stay in that place, our rate was quite affordable at this time. Room was clean and spacious even so the shower didnt function perfectly, For that amount we paid for sure a very good deal for philippine hotel standards. I will return for sure, staff is friendly breakfast is various and good.

We had been into different hotels and resorts and yes, the rooms may not be a cozy carpeted 5 star type, but hey-it is a resort type and the floor tiles will always be wet and sandy coming home from pool or sandbar outside. Plus complimentary banana boat, sandbar access, kayak, stand paddle, access to floating restaurant, free use of billiards and dartboards, free use of gym and bikes. However, they keep the room clean everyday and will always povide you with fresh towels. Moreso, i dont know why the other reviews state few food choices, this is by far the best breakfast buffet with a lot of tasty variants compared to other 4 or 5 Star we have been in other countries. No other hotels nearby or in Puerto Princesa Palawan can match what this hotel has to offer in terms of amenities, courteousness and service. You can even see their amazing landscape thru the plane window before landing. Highly recommended for families with young children. Just enjoy the view, the pool, food and your stay at the hotel, explore what they have to offer and have great bonding moments with your kids. Not recommended for loners/ backpackers and for those who have several tour itineraries everyday, better find a lodge or inn to sleep at night to get the best value for money. Will surely come back soon. They deserved my 9.5/10 rating, 0.5 for the other facilities they can still improve.

John and his team as always know how to look after his guests and make sure you are fully juiced up giving no reason to leave the pool area. Typical Henann surroundings, amenities and hospitality which makes me come back every year to stay in their resorts. I have tried them all and this could well be my favourite Henann in Boracay. But... the breakfast was disappointing as less variety than others. No mango on offer, which is a must for any Philippine resort and the menu was made up of the strangest food combinations which simply doesn’t work. Please Henann... keep it simple, don’t be stingy with food options and Crystal Sands could be the only place to stay in Boracay. It’s easy to criticise when they have raised the bar so high with their other resorts. Saying that, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!!!

It s the first time to visit Philippine , I guess this country was dirty before but change my mindset after stayed in south palms , it was a wonderful hotel Although Bohol was a bit far away to Cebu , if you want to select Bohol , you should accept it s far location. I took the business class for speed boat and it s nice I request for the resort shuttle for 1st day pier to resort and last day resort to pier, and when you need to go alona beach , you better prepare a local driver contact because resort shuttle was a bit experience , such as double and triple price This resort enjoy a excellent beach view and was clean and tidy , I stayed in the sea view villa and the room was big and nice , just need to walk 30 seconds to restaurant and walk 10 secs to the pool ... I remember it s the most expensive room for couple Our plan which included breakfast and dinner which was a delicious buffet with different meal everyday, the waiter welcoming was polite with warm smile , they could remember my surname and my favour . There was one point that I don't like , but I guess happened for all hotel in Philippine, they need to charge all every minor thing , and I expected some of them should included in service because I paid a high price ~ E.g resort shuttle to pier , every washing service.... Etc Finally , resort had provided a nice travel tour plan , but the price was high such as double when compare with alona beach , you can reach alona at the first night and seek for local boat supplier with a lower price It s the truth , I finally took the resort boat because I need service , privacy , 1 to 1 guard service to my wife in the sea , the guard was from the diving centre in resort which is professional and he was able to swim in the sea with is on big wave , which the local boat supplier won't do it ( my wife can't swim well) That's why It s worth for me to pay a double price , it s for your reference Thanks

Me and my fiancée have just departed after a 7 night stay. If you are looking for a central Makati location then this is the place to go. Just across the street from Greenbelt 1 so all the shopping you can want is right there on the doorstep. The staff are very friendly and helpful with a great range of languages spoken so they really understand you. They will go out of their way to make you comfortable, be it booking a grab taxi or helping with weather reports, essential at this time of year. Non pushy and very accommodating from the reception staff through the servers and even the cleaners and maintenance staff. I can honestly say that the staff and service is up there with the best we have ever received not just in the Philippines but across all continents. Rooms are spacious and clean, free mini bar is a welcome bonus, and any issues however small are dealt with promptly. The wellness spa, I am informed by my fiancée, is amazing. She enjoyed great treatments and wished we were there longer to try more. The restaurants serve tasty food at a competitive price and the staff will recommend places to eat out rather than just promoting their own which was nice to see. Overall a 5 star performance by the Makati Diamond Residences. Can heartily recommend a stay here and will be our go to place to stay when in Makati.

We stayed with my husband two nights in this hotel for the last part of our honeymoon in the Philippines. The hotel was great! First as it was our honeymoon they upgraded us to a room with a beautiful view, offered us a bottle of white wine and some mangos and prepared the room with a special honeymoon set up. We usually got a present in other hotels for our honeymoon but never 3! The staff is very friendly professional and helpful. The facilities of the hotel are very good. The pool is nice and has an extra jacuzzi. There are two gyms. The small one has a nice view and no one was there when we went. You also have the usually free water and fruits. You even can do classes in the bigger gym. The breakfast is served on the top floor and has a great view. The buffet is huge and delicious! That was probably the best part of our stay, the breakfast! The in-room service is good, we took salads and they were very good just a bit too small. The room had a lot of space, was modern and very comfortable. The only bad point was that the flash button of the toilette didn't work well. I would definitively advise you to stay in this hotel. Its a 5 stars hotel with all the quality that it should have but with very good prices.

The airco gives a cool breeze throughout the room, which is definitely sufficient, also for sleeping. Some people complain about the distance between airport and resort. It is indeed more than 2 hours driving. But just consider it as sightseeing, as part of your vacation. What is wrong in exploring the native life in the Philippines? Just relax, sit back and watch. Or take a nap. My enormous respect definitely goes to the owners of this resort, who pay a lot of attention and give a lot of care to the local island community, by giving job opportunities, health care, utility provisions, etc..... RESPECT!!

Comprising of more than 7,000 islands, the Philippines lies at the far eastern edge of Asia. Boasting the world’s longest coastline, it inevitably packs in a wealth of wonderful beaches, secluded lagoons and watersports. Its megacities are overflowing with culture, home to museums, historical landmarks and a huge array of shopping malls. This awe-inspiring archipelago is a nature-lover’s paradise, home to picturesque beaches such as Boracay and El Nido, and the coral reefs of the Tubbataha Reefs National Park. Beautiful trekking spots can be found amongst the many mountain ranges, such as Mount Pulag and Mount Kanlaon, with rare wildlife such as Philippine eagles and water buffaloes found amidst the flora and fauna. The beautiful Banaue rice terraces in Batad are not be missed, where you’ll encounter stunning mud-walled terraces chiseled into the hillside. Island-hopping is the surest way to take in the country’s best sights and activities. On Coron, you’ll be able to dive amongst ship wrecks, while Donsol is known as the ‘whale shark capital of the world’. The culture-filled capital of Manila is dominated by soaring skyscrapers looming over mega malls and artisan markets. Its historic centre (known as Intramuros; Spanish for ‘within the walls) is surrounded by a long circuit of gigantic stone walls and forts. You’ll encounter the main landmarks of Fort Santiago and Manila Cathedral inside this age-old district. The most common accommodation options are hotels and apartments, with many a short distance away from popular beaches. In more rural areas you’ll find a good selection of villas, lodges, campsites and farm stays.

My life and business partner, Tim, and I had a great time! I booked a 10-day tour through Guide to the Philippines. At first, I just felt that handing over our precious holiday to someone else was a bit uncomfortable, but we are so glad we did! This team of passionate professionals did everything they could to ensure we had an incredible holiday! The tour itself was extraordinary. We traveled to Bohol, Cebu, El Nido, and Puerto Princesa, beautiful places here in the Philippines, where we got to partake in some great activities like island hopping, folk dancing, lunch while river cruising, snorkeling, volleyball, kayaking, swimming with whale sharks and feeding monkeys; possibly a bit too wild, as we also bolted on all of the additional extras like mangrove boating, zip lining, and hiking, but that was more us, biting off more than we could chew but we don’t regret a thing! All the staff, from the airlines to the hotel and the tour itself, even those I only talked to through email whenever I have questions, are outstanding at doing their job! They took care of us like we were friends for a long time. To share why I need to have this vacation, I struggled to produce creative thoughts for the past few months (March to April), and I had to postpone some of my plans due to my lack of motivation to accomplish many important agendas. During the vacation, however, after doing some cleansing, grounding, and centering works in El Nido and thanksgiving offerings to nature (we are animistic), both during our easy and free time and a 10-day business with a leisure getaway, I'm always fired on by ingenious and innovative thoughts. And the thing is, I don't feel drained and exhausted physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I can still work early in the morning until evening without checking my pulse to see if it is still beating. And everything I do is yielding positive results! I'm more than happy than ever! Knowing how a tour like this can help you escape challenging times is incredible. I actually like this routine and my newly gained stamina. I'm just amazed by myself now. So once again, thank you, Guide to the Philippines, for giving us such an adventure! I'm planning to take my whole team to El Nido next year, so I expect we will book another tour through your site!

Transfer were smooth and straight to the point! 10/10 would try again!

The country is also well known for having warm and hospitable locals.

Whether you want to swim in the crystal clear waters of Boracay and Palawan, or to try surfing at La Union or Siargao, or enjoy a food trip at Binondo, or go white water rafting at Cagayan de Oro, or simply explore its heritage sites in Manila or Cebu, exploring is more fun in the Philippines.

Languages: Filipino, English

The nationalities of 157 countries including those from Australia, European Union, and the United Kingdom are allowed to enter the Philippines without a visa and can stay up to 30 days. Meanwhile, those from Brazil and Israel can stay up to 59 days.

List of the countries that can enter the Philippines without a visa can be found here: http://www.dfa.gov.ph/list-of-countries-for-21-day-visa.

However, some nationalities need Visa Upon Arrival (VUA) to enter the Philippines. VUA can be filed by foreigners at the Philippines Bureau of Immigration Head Office. VUA is valid for business travel, international seminars, transit to go to another country, tourism, and some other reasons for a short visit. It is also valid for 30 to 59 days.

How to Get There

There are four main international airports in the Philippines: Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Manila, Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) in Cebu, Fransisco Bangay International Airport (DVO) in Davao, and Clark International Airport (CRK) in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Getting Around

Getting around the Philippines using their public transport is very cheap, though not always the best option. Jeepney is the most common mode of transportation throughout the country. In big cities like Manila and Cebu, jeepneys’ route appear on the windshields, but in small cities, you need to ask the drivers first.

There are also trains like the Philippines National Railways (PNR), Manila Metro Rail Transit System (MRT), and Manila Light Rail Transit System (LRT). The first type operates in Luzon, serving two main lines: southrail and northrail. Meanwhile, the MRT and LRT is used in Metro Manila for intercity commute. There are also taxis and buses available. Other alternatives include vans or minibus in some areas.

For barangays and small towns, tricycles are commonly used. Depending on the size, it can accommodate up to five passengers. And if you’re going from one island to another, you’ll have to ride a ferry, a motor boat, or a bangka, which is a small boat with outriggers.

Things to Do in Philippines

With 7,641 islands, there’s something for you to do and to discover in the Philippines. The country is made up of three major islands: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Luzon is the largest located on the northern Philippines. As the main group of islands, many important sectors are built in Luzon such as the main international airport, business centers and many tourist attractions like Intramuros (Walled City) and Binondo, the world’s oldest Chinatown.

One natural wonder in Luzon is the Banaue Rice Terraces. The rice terraces is a 10,360 square kilometres area carved out by Ifugao people more than 2,000 years ago without any modern equipment. Hiking into the terrace is visitors’ most favorite activity. Bring your picnic basket and find a peaceful picnic spot.

Located between Luzon and Mindanao, Visayas is divided into three parts: Western Visayas, Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas. This group of islands is famous for its beautiful beaches including the renowned Boracay Island. Located 350 kilometres away from Manila, this small island is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the world.

Mindanao, on the other hand, is the second largest group of islands in the Philippines. It is famous for its tropical rain forests. While trekking in the jungle, you can see the endemic animal, Philippines Eagle, known as a monkey predator.

Only in the Philippines will you also discover the Chocolate Hills. Located in Bohol, it is a unique group of hills spanning 50 square kilometres. In the summer, 1,000 green hills change color to brown, that is why this place is called Chocolate Hills. From the top of the hills, you can see beautiful landscapes of nearby cities.

Meanwhile, Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is the perfect place for diving and snorkeling. In 1993, the tourist attraction was listed as one of the best diving spots in the world by CNN Travel. UNESCO also listed this marine park as one of the world heritage sites. The best time for diving in Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is between mid March to mid June. At that time, the weather is nice and you can get the maximum underwater visibility.

Where to Stay in Philippines

Whether you are planning to stay in Metro Manila or one of the country’s provinces, you won’t lack for choices. There are many different types of accommodation you can choose from including five-star hotels, budget-friendly lodging houses, inns, guesthouses, hostels and more.

Make sure to book in advance so you can take advantage of great deals and more room options.

You’ll find swanky rooftop bars with spectacular city skyline views, speakeasy bars, grungy and private clubs as well as lively nightclub featuring international and local DJs.

Philippines Travel Tips

The Philippines imposes a travel tax on every local and foreign tourists who leave the country. Travel tax is paid when you depart from the territory of the Philippines at the counter of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) in international airports.

Taking a taxi? Make sure to use metered taxi or negotiate with the driver prior to riding when exploring. Taxi drivers in Manila and several areas in the Philippines are notorious for setting higher taxi fares to foreign tourists.

Bring enough cash. It is difficult to find money changers and ATM machines in small towns.

What it’s like to stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel in Malaysia

What it’s like to stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel in Malaysia

LEGOLAND MALAYSIA. The LEGOLAND Hotel in Malaysia can easily be spotted from afar with its colorful exterior.

LEGOLAND Malaysia

MANILA, Philippines – Looking for an out-of-the-ordinary hotel experience? This hotel is made of bricks – but not the ones you’re thinking of. Picture big, bright yellow, red, blue, and green bricks put together to make a huge castle that looks like it came straight out of a cartoon.

philippine trip hotel

This is the LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

To put it simply, it’s an interesting experience in and of itself. It’s the first fully-themed hotel in Malaysia and also the first LEGOLAND Hotel in all of Asia, so you can already expect that every corner of the building will scream LEGO.

For one, instead of the crisp white sheets and plain walls you would usually see in standard hotel rooms, all of the rooms in LEGOLAND Hotel Malaysia take on different themes – with a total of five to choose from.

During a media trip organized by Tourism Malaysia and the LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, I had the chance to check the hotel out myself and experience what it’s like to stay there.

Jam-packed lobby

The ground level of the LEGOLAND Hotel is conveniently packed with everything you might need during your stay.

Heading into the lobby, you’ll immediately be greeted by a play area equipped with large interactive LEGO pirate ship and tower installations. The play area also comes with loose LEGO bricks that can be played with, so if you have kids with you, it’ll be sure to keep them busy while you check in at the front desk.

philippine trip hotel

From time to time, LEGO mascots also make appearances in the lobby to interact with the kids (and kids at heart!) and have their photos taken with them.

Right in front of the check-in area is the gift shop, which is open from 9 am to 9 pm. Here, you can purchase basic LEGO sets, keychains, bags, and plush toys, among others. Most of the products sold in the hotel gift shop are more general, so if you’re looking for certain themed LEGO sets like the BTS or Harry Potter ones, you’ll only be able to find these in the gift shops situated in the theme park itself.

A few steps away from the gift shop is Bricks Family Restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s a buffet that serves a mix of Western and Asian cuisine. My personal favorite part of the restaurant is the outside area where you can have pasta cooked to your liking, as well as satay served fresh off the grill!

philippine trip hotel

Breakfast is included with the hotel room, so that’s when the restaurant is usually the most packed. I noticed that the line to enter the dining area tends to get long at around 9 am, so it’s best to come earlier if you want to be seated right away.

If you’re looking to eat meals from a specific cuisine, though, there’s also Kai’s Sushi, which serves Japanese dishes like sashimi and donburi; Di Mattoni Restaurant, where you can have Italian dishes like pizza and pasta; and Coffee@Bricks, a deli that serves salads, pastries, and cold sandwiches.

Is ‘everything awesome’ in the hotel rooms?

Everything on the ground level is only a part of the amusing features you can find at the LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel. The hotel rooms themselves offer a totally different experience.

Each hotel room can fit five to eight people. According to the LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort website, rates start at RM 1,090 or P13,628.08 per night. I suggest having at least three people in your group so you can make the most out of what you’re paying to stay there.

When booking a room, you can choose from five different themes: Pirate, Ninjago, Kingdom, Adventure, and LEGO Friends.

We stayed in the Pirate-themed room that can house two adults and three children. The adults’ sleeping area comes with a king-sized bed, while the children’s sleeping area has a bunk bed with a pull-out mattress. If you have an extra adult with you, I recommend that they sleep on the pull-out bed because it’s a lot more spacious compared to the bunk bed.

Staying true to the Pirate theme, the bunk bed and the king-sized bed were lined with striped red and white sheets with a skull on them. The entire room was also adorned with pirate-themed tapestry and decor made of LEGO.

philippine trip hotel

The children’s sleeping area comes with a TV and a container full of LEGO bricks that can be played with.

But the best feature of all is the Treasure Hunt. On the table in the adults’ side of the hotel room, there’s a paper with a list of prompts that you have to answer to be able to figure out the combination of the treasure chest positioned just across the bunk bed. Once you unlock it, there are two small LEGO sets that you can keep!

philippine trip hotel

Meanwhile, our room came with one bathroom, which had a shower, a toilet, a sink for the kids, and a sink for the adults.

However, the rooms that can hold up to eight people have two bathrooms, which come with both a bathtub and a shower.

philippine trip hotel

Although the bathrooms come with the usual amenities like cotton buds, cotton pads, a comb, and a dental kit, among others, there’s only an all-in-one liquid soap that doubles as shampoo and shower gel, so it’s still better to bring your own toiletries.

Hotel rooms aside, if you’d like to go for a swim without having to go to the water park, you can head over to the pool area, which is open until 5 pm.

Overall, however, LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel is a dream for any LEGO enthusiast looking for a different staycation. While the hotel does mostly cater to kids, I can attest that it can be fully enjoyed by adults as well. There are tons of things to build and explore, so the fun doesn’t really seem to end. – Rappler.com

Grand Westside Hotel: a mega boost to Philippine tourism

The grand westside will have 1,530 hotel rooms spread over two towers and will be connected by an impressive bridgeway to the casino and mall complex across the road.

A mega-boost for Philippine tourism

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. joined Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Tan in inaugurating the Grand Westside Hotel at the Megaworld Westside City in Parañaque, on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

6.jpg

Upon its completion, the Grand Westside will have 1,530 hotel rooms spread over two towers and will be connected by an impressive bridgeway to the casino and mall complex across the road.

5.jpg

Special guests at the late Saturday afternoon ceremonies included House Speaker Hon. Martin Romualdez; DOT Secretary Cristina G. Frasco with her husband, Deputy Speaker Hon. Duke Frasco; DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual; and PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco. Representatives from the hotel associations and the tourist operators group were also on hand to witness the dotting of the eye of the dragon and the ceremonial unveiling of the hotel’s facade and entrance.

1.JPG

During his speech, the President joked about how he would have to confer with DOT Secretary Frasco and happily recalibrate their projected incoming foreign arrivals with the entry of this new hotel into the Philippine tourism landscape. With the Grand Westside as a significant part of their portfolio, the Megaworld Hotels and Resorts Group not only runs the single hotel with the most rooms in the Philippines but also, combined with their other hotels and resorts, has the largest hotel room capacity for a single group.

8.jpg

The opening of the Grand Westside is a strong endorsement of the future of tourism in the Philippines and reflects Megaworld's steadfast commitment to providing the infrastructure and employment opportunities needed to make tourism growth a near-future reality.

TOKYO -- Singapore-based Philippine chain Hotel101 is planning to launch one of its first overseas facilities at the northern Japanese ski resort of Niseko based on a model of fast-food-style standardization, its global CEO told Nikkei Asia.

Hotel101, aiming to list on the Nasdaq later this year, currently operates solely in the Philippines but is planning to rapidly expand abroad, targeting 25 countries in the short term. It intends to achieve that by holding down costs.

Do You Have Food Allergies? Here’s How to Travel Safely.

Airlines, restaurants and hotels are all making travel easier for people with sensitivities to foods like peanuts, wheat and milk, but it’s still critical to be your own advocate.

An illustration shows a woman walking down a path wearing a big sun hat and pulling a suitcase. The path leads through stalks of wheat, a herd of cows and trees bearing fruit.

By Lisa McCarty

For the 33 million Americans managing any of the most common nine food allergies — including milk, eggs, nuts, wheat, soy, sesame and different types of fish — traveling safely can be challenging, but it’s becoming easier.

In the air, where carriers say they can’t guarantee fully nut-free flights, the recently enacted Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act will, over the next two years, add epinephrine injectors on planes and provide additional medical training for crew members.

On the ground, hotels and restaurants are also customizing meals, providing menus with allergen symbols, enhancing staff education and instituting better processes for food handling.

But still, it’s critical to speak up for yourself. As a person who is gluten-intolerant and a parent of a child with a serious peanut allergy, I’ve learned simple and effective ways to eat safely and reduce the risk of a reaction while away from home.

Pack to protect yourself

Consider packing allergy-friendly snacks for your trips. Some of the reliable brands without peanuts, tree nuts, gluten and dairy are MadeGood, Goodie Girl , Enjoy Life and Simple Mills . These portable products include snack chips and granola bars . For travel within the United States you can also store fresh fruit in resealable bags with reusable mini-ice packs, which are permitted in carry-on luggage, but the ice packs must be placed with other liquids when you’re passing through security.

If you travel with an epinephrine injector, insert a tracker like an Apple AirTag or Tile in its case and place it in your carry-on. Then, set an alert to notify you if you forget it at home or misplace it during your travels, so you will never be without it. The Transportation Security Administration limits passengers to two injectors, which should be kept in the original box with a visible prescription label.

The Food and Drug Administration also suggests packing cleansing wipes. Unlike hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes can remove up to 99 percent of allergens, including peanut residue , from surfaces. This can help protect you from cross-contamination. Be sure to wash your hands afterward to avoid direct contact.

Tell your hotel what you need

The Americans With Disabilities Act helps to protect those with food allergies by giving them the right to ask for necessary changes in hotel policies or conditions that place them at a disadvantage. However, hotels and rental properties can’t always guarantee allergy-conscious accommodations. When booking, prioritize establishments rated highly by other travelers with dietary sensitivities in online tools like the Spokin app and blog. The service allows you to search allergy-specific reviews of hotels and restaurants. Walt Disney Resorts, Hilton, Marriott, Fairmont, Kimpton and the Four Seasons are a few highly rated global hotel chains . Additionally, all Kimpton Hotels around the world offer a Forgot It? We’ve Got It program, in which they stock nonallergenic toiletries and snacks.

Most hotel booking apps allow you to limit your search to rooms with a kitchen, should you prefer to have the control that comes with preparing your own meals. If you can’t book a room with a kitchen, you may be able to ask the front desk for a microwave and a mini-fridge to store and reheat your own meals. When you book, personalize your profile with details of your dietary sensitivity and confirm with managers upon arrival. Be sure to ask them to also make their staff aware.

Airbnb and Vrbo properties typically come with a full kitchen, but remember to wash cookware and service items with hot soapy water before use to reduce the risk of contamination.

Fly allergy-friendly skies

The Air Carrier Access Act , like the A.D.A., protects airline passengers with dietary sensitivities by permitting early boarding for travelers to clean the seats and other surfaces. Although many airlines do not currently serve peanuts, a common allergen, there is no guarantee that onboard snacks do not contain traces of peanuts, which could set off a reaction. Some flights have designated areas called buffer zones, where peanut products are not served or eaten by passengers. Contact the airline before booking to learn about the specifics of your flight.

At the airport, Spokin can help locate nearby suitable meal options in 80 countries. You can filter by your specific dietary restriction and view thousands of user reviews for each establishment. The FindMeGlutenFree app searches worldwide airports for celiac-friendly options.

Talk to the chef

It seems simple, but filtering a Google Maps search with the keywords “specialty markets” can reveal a world of allergy-friendly options as well as helpful reviews. Organic markets or health stores are often good alternatives for people with food intolerances.

If you’re planning to eat out, platforms like OpenTable allow you to make direct requests for accommodations in 80 countries. The AllergyEats app lets you search for restaurants with dietary restrictions by state , but it is available only in the United States.

For international destinations, consider carrying a downloadable chef card from the nonprofit group Food Allergy Research & Education to convey, in any of the 10 languages besides English offered on its website, what foods a restaurant must avoid serving you. The iTranslate app can translate from a photograph of a menu or a sign to help you convey your needs to the restaurant staff.

For U.S. getaways, when possible, choose off-peak hours to dine — typically between 2 and 4 p.m., versus during the lunch or dinner rush. At those times, the chef is more likely to be able to speak with you about special meal requests. Also, without orders piling up, the kitchen staff can lower the risk of cross-contamination by taking more time to prepare your meal carefully.
