Oasis defined a generation. Oasis have undoubtably been one of the single biggest influences on my life. They influence the way I walk, talk, dress, the other bands I listen to, the mates I hang around with and the misspent nights/weekends I've lost!
Seeing Oasis live was always an event (usually a big stadium or arena show due to their popularity). Its something you'd look forward to for weeks/months well basically since you first managed to secure your ticket.
The gigs themselves, I honestly find it hard to put into words a description that does this justice. From the moment they stepped on stage how could anyone fail to be transfixed by the greatest frontman in the world ever LIam Gallagher. The sheer euphoria of thousands of people singing every word of various anthems back at the band with as much passion, if not more as you'd find most of the same audience singing to their football teams on a Saturday afternoon.
Oasis were us and we were Oasis, a working class band with a laddish working class following. That may be sneered at by sections of the media (the term 'lad-rock' was banded about) but when your standing in a field/stadium/arena with thousands of like minded individuals watching Oasis the world pretty much starts and ends there.

The remaining dates on U.K. rock act Oasis’ 2009 world tour were scrapped, following the Aug. 28 departure of guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher. London-based Ignition Management, which represents the band, declined to comment on the cancelations. Frontman Liam Gallagher’s ill health was blamed for the band’s absence from the Chelmsford leg of the U.K.’s V Festival on Aug. 23 (Billboard.biz, Aug. 24). Headline appearances at Germany’s Rock Am See Festival (Aug. 29) and Italy’s I-Day Milano Urban Festival (Aug. 30) were also canceled, following Gallagher’s initial Aug. 28 announcement that he had quit the group. I-Day was to be the band’s final date of its 13-month world tour, according to Oasisinet. In an Aug. 29 statement on the site, Noel Gallagher claimed he was “forced” to leave the band after a disagreement with brother Liam. He continued: “The lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.” Oasis was formed in 1991 by Liam Gallagher alongside Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll, with Liam the only remaining original member. Noel joined shortly after and became the band’s lead songwriter. The band’s remaining line-up comprises Liam, guitarist/keyboardist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock, although its future is unclear.

Gallagher brothers look back in anger as Noel storms out of Oasis
Some might say it's been on the cards for a long time, but with a few choice words on the band's website last night Noel Gallagher announced he was quitting Oasis and bringing to an end one of the most famous partnerships in British rock history.
In typical style he did not mince his words about the cause of the split: his notoriously combustible relationship with his brother.
"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight," he said. "People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets to the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."
The news came swiftly after the band stunned fans by cancelling their second big festival show in a week.
They were due to play last night at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. But according to reports, the Gallagher brothers were involved in a fight backstage minutes before they were scheduled to go on stage.
The bust-up, which is said to have involved broken guitars, followed more mayhem last weekend when Oasis pulled out of the V Festival with Liam reportedly suffering from viral laryngitis.
Noel's announcement followed months of speculation that the band might be splitting and years of squabbling between the brothers.
In an NME interview last week, Liam said the pair weren't currently speaking. "It takes more than blood to be my brother," he said.
There followed a stream of abusive comments on social networking websites, the pair goading each other with insults.
Liam's postings also revealed that the pair were now travelling separately on tour and only saw each other on stage.
Following last night's announcement the band's fans took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express their sadness.
"Noel Gallagher leaves Oasis? Gutted, no more Oasis then I guess, they were one of my favourite bands," posted PsychedelicAdam. Wolvolass said: "I feel sick, sooo many good memories and gigs seeing Oasis over the years." MattGriffin added: "This is the worst day ever."
As news of the split spread, the band's website crashed as fans desperately logged on to verify the announcement.
Scottish singer Amy Macdonald, who was playing in the French festival last night, wrote on her Twitter page shortly after 9pm: "Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noel's guitar, huuuge fight!"
She later updated the page saying "Noel's quit".
At Rock en Seine the crowd were told by Bloc Party, who were due to perform before Oasis, the Manchester band would not be taking the stage. Many of the crowd thought it was a joke, until the big screens at either side of the main stage showed the message "as a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled".
Ben Clover, 28, who travelled from south London for the festival said: "I was hoping to see the band on the top of their game – now I am not sure we will ever see them perform live again.
"There are a lot of British Oasis fans who have come over for this gig and they are very disappointed." The brothers have enjoyed a publicly rocky relationship since the band formed. In 1995, Liam famously refused to join the band on a crucial American tour, leaving Noel to take on lead vocal duties.
But despite a series of fall-outs, neither brother have ever officially left the band before. After the band's formation in 1991, they released their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994, followed by What's the Story (Morning Glory) the following year.
The acclaimed records and live performances quickly established the band as the biggest rock act in Britain. But never far from the critical acclaim were reports of a tempestuous relationship between the brothers and tales of late night brawls marring the recording sessions.
Despite their recent troubles, Liam has sought to reassure fans that Oasis would not be splitting up. At an outdoor gig on 11 July at Wembley Stadium, Liam addressed the crowd and said: "There's been rumours that we're going to be splitting up. Let me tell you now, we're not splitting up, we've only just fucking started."
Oasis have enjoyed phenomenal success. By June this year they had sold more than 50m records worldwide. They have had eight UK number one singles.
They have also won five Brit awards, nine Q Awards and four MTV Europe Music Awards.

NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Oasis have just dropped the biggest hint so far they’re about to reunite

Since Oasis split in 2009, fans of the hit Britpop band have been praying for a reunion.
While there has been the odd rumbling of a comeback over the years, either Noel or Liam Gallagher , who aren’t on speaking terms, have been quick to dash them.
However, for the first time in 15 years, the Wonderwall musicians have given the biggest hint yet that an Oasis return isn’t a distant dream.
On the band’s official X page, a cryptic video of a country house was posted with no caption or explanation.
Many users on X pointed out the property resembled Sawmills Studios in Cornwal, where Oasis recorded debut album, Definitley Maybe.
This sparked a feverish hope that Liam and Noel had finally buried the hatchet and were plotting an Oasis comeback.
One very excited fan @carrie_patino admitted: ‘A little pee just came out!’
Already contemplating snapping up tickets, @j_1702 exclaimed: ‘Imagine the reunion at Leeds omg omg.’
Alongside multiple fingers crossed emojis @marcus71931691 said: ‘Both brothers are in there arranging the tour they owe us.’
However, several X users suggested that rather than a comeback the clip was hinting at a re-release of Definitely Maybe to mark its 30th anniversary.
They did also speculate whether a re-release might contain previously discarded tracks from the vault and therefore new music.
Noel, 56, previously said that unheard Oasis music would be released to mark 30 years of Definitley Maybe.
He told the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera: ‘In the Sony archives we’ve found tapes dating to those sessions. We thought they were lost, but they were mislabelled.
‘They are wonderful versions of those songs, some acoustic versions.
The Live Forever singer did though sadly rubbish reunion rumours: ‘There won’t be a tour, we won’t come back to play them together.’
The band split in 2009 when Noel wanted to go solo after persistently butting heads with his brother since their band formed in 1991.
Reports suggested that the brothers struggled to work with each other for the 18 years they were in Oasis together.
Several incidents took place while they worked together including Liam questioning the paternity of Noel’s daughter, leading to a punch-up, and another fallout which led Noel to hit Liam with a cricket bat.
Fifteen years on since their split, the brothers are still not on speaking terms and still take opportunities to publically lash out at each other.

Reunion or reissue? Fans are getting excited by the new Oasis teaser
"This is as cryptic as the Gallagher relationship"
Oasis have shared a mysterious new teaser video online, sparking excitement and speculation among fans.
A brief, vintage-looking clip was posted on the Britpop band’s official social media channels yesterday (May 20) without a caption or any further information.
- READ MORE: Noel Gallagher: “The world is a beautiful place – it’s just inhabited by c**ts”
Some followers have suggested that the aerial footage shows the picturesque setting of Sawmills Studio in Cornwall – where Oasis recorded sessions for their seminal debut album, 1994’s ‘Definitely Maybe’.
This has led some fans to believe that the teaser could be signalling an upcoming reissue to mark the record’s 30th anniversary. Last year, Noel Gallagher confirmed that a new edition of the LP would be arriving in 2024 to mark the milestone.
His estranged brother and former bandmate Liam , meanwhile, is due to embark on a special ‘Definitely Maybe’ UK and Ireland tour next month . He’ll also play the album in full when he headlines Reading & Leeds in August.
In the comments section of the new teaser, one fan wrote: “That’s the place where it all started.” Another said: “It’s where they recorded ‘Definitely Maybe’, it will be something to do with the 30th anniversary.”
A third user added: “It’s Sawmills Studio where most of the album was recorded…”

Other fans, however, are holding out hope for news on an Oasis reunion – which the Gallaghers have spoken about extensively in recent years.
“Please tell me it’s happening,” wrote one person, with another saying: “Surely it’s not happening.” Someone else commented: “This is as cryptic as the Gallagher relationship.” A fan said: “Come on, don’t play with my feelings.”
Sharing a similar sentiment, another user posted: “Don’t do that. Don’t give me hope.” Elsewhere in the comments, someone asked “WHAT IS THIS????” while a second person wrote: “Please be happening.”

The clip has blown up on X/Twitter too. Many followers on the platform have noted that the location in question is that of Sawmills Studio – although some remain optimistic regarding a comeback.

Last month saw Liam Gallagher respond to Andy Bell’s recent comments about a potential Oasis reunion . Bell, who played bass for the band between 1999 and 2009, said Oasis would “probably” get back together at some point in the future.
Liam then said that Bell “should really not be getting people’s hopes up”, adding: “It’s not big and it’s not clever.” He also replied to a fan who argued that the Ride musician was “just saying what you’ve said a million times already” – referring to Liam’s many past comments about Oasis’ future.
The singer replied: “I’ve never mentioned [an] Oasis reunion it’s over we must all really move [on] for our own mental health.”
Re-posting Liam’s message, Bell said: “Apologies! Didn’t mean to get anyone’s hopes up, nothing to see here! X.”
Last October, Liam claimed that Noel had been asked to participate in his ‘Definitely Maybe’ UK and Ireland tour, but he “refused” . He previously teased that he’d be playing some “naughty” B-sides at the shows , and ruled out airing any of his solo material .
Speaking to NME in 2020 , Liam said an Oasis reunion was “gonna happen very fucking soon”, with Noel revealing in early 2023 that he would “never say never” to the idea . LG subsequently argued that his older brother had “done a lot of damage to Oasis as a brand” .
Noel then discussed the possibility of an Oasis comeback during an interview with NME last summer . He said he would “inevitably” be approached about a tour, but added: “There’s never really been a serious offer about ‘The Big O’ getting back together, but there you go.”
In October, the High Flying Birds frontman accused Liam of trying to “rewrite history” regarding Oasis’ “dreadful” final year together ahead of their break-up in 2009. “The last tour was not happy,” he explained.
Former Oasis guitarist Bonehead has said that he would like a reunion to go ahead because of what it would mean to the “younger fans” of the band.
More recently, Noel revealed that he would be “bang up” for an Oasis hologram show after watching ABBA ‘s ‘Voyage’ concert.
During an interview with NME in April , Liam said an Oasis return was “not happening” around the ‘Definitely Maybe’ anniversary. He was asked if fans could expect a reunion to celebrate the two-decade milestone of ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ in 2025.
“I don’t know – I don’t think that’s happening either,” he responded. ‘It’s not happening at this moment in time.”
Last month, Oasis shared an early live recording of ‘Supersonic’ to mark the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut single .

Oasis set off reunion rumours once more as cryptic video is posted
Oasis have sparked rumours of a reunion or an anniversary edition of 'Definitely Maybe'.
The defunct Britpop group's Instagram account posted a video of what looks like Sawmills Studio in Cornwall, where they recorded tracks for their iconic album ‘Definitely Maybe’, which is turning 30 on August 30.
And it has led to fans predicting a reunion is on the cards or more likely that it's something to do with the milestone.
The cryptic clip was left without a caption sending the rumour mill wild.
Former frontman Liam Gallagher - who has been at loggerheads with his brother, the group's guitarist and chief songwriter, Noel Gallagher, since a backstage bust-up between the pair at their final concert in Paris in 2009 - is already embarking on a sold-out 'Definitely Maybe' 30th anniversary tour, which kicks off next month.
Liam said his estranged brother turned down his offer to reunite with him on the jaunt.
When a fan asked if Noel would be taking part, Liam replied: “He’s been asked and he’s refused."
As he has at many of his solo shows, the 51-year-old rock 'n' roll star will be joined by Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, 58, for the arena run.
The tour starts in Sheffield on June 2 and includes dates in London, Cardiff, Glasgow, and Dublin.
The 'Supersonic' hitmaker said: “I’m bouncing around the house to announce the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour.
“The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it, and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x."
As well as performing hits including 'Live Forever', Cigarettes and Alcohol' and 'Supersonic', he'll sing fan-favourites ‘Whatever’, ‘Fade Away’, ‘Listen Up’ and ‘Sad Song’.
Meanwhile, Noel, 56, recently hinted he would be keen to have an Oasis hologram show after being impressed by ABBA's lucrative 'ABBA Voyage' extravaganza.

Oasis ignite reunion speculation after sharing cryptic post on social media
L egendary Mancunian band Oasis have ignited reunion speculation after they shared a cryptic post on social media on Monday (20 May).
The group split up in 2009 amid a bitter feud between brothers and bandmates Liam and Noel Gallagher . This February, Oasis were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame , but were snubbed following Liam’s angry reaction to the group’s nomination .
Now, a post on the official account for the group has prompted talk of a long-awaited – but much-denied – reconciliation. The post features a video showing aerial footage of a large house on the banks of a countryside river, surrounded by hills.
The 14-second clip was released with no caption or context on X/Twitter. Alongside the footage, some hazy music can be heard faintly in the background.
The video has been viewed over 1.5 million times in the 24 hours since its release, with fans begging the band for an answer.
“Oi Liam, what does it mean? You and Noel drunk called each other yesterday with [Manchester City football team] winning the league and planned a reunion?” pleaded one fan.
“What the hell is this supposed to mean?” and “What does this mean lads come on?” begged others.
Some people were more optimistic about the prospect of the band reuniting, as they wrote: “Imagine the reunion at Leeds omg omg”.
However, more eagle-eyed fans noticed the home looked similar to the English music studio where Oasis recorded their first album, Definitely Maybe . The band released their first hit record on 30 August 1994, with this year marking 30 years since its debut.
“Oh okay they’re just teasing a Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary album...” said one fan as he shared a picture of the studio in the comments section. “It’s where [they] recorded Definitely Maybe ..nothing to see here it’s for the anniversary.”
“Calm down they’re probably just releasing the demos of Definitely Maybe ,” said another.
Liam, who recently collaborated with The Stone Roses guitarist John Squire, told The Guardian in an interview earlier this year that there was “no way” Oasis would disappear into obscurity.
“There’s no way I’m letting Oasis turn into one of these [bands] where you just wrap an album in cellophane every 10 years,” he said, appearing to pour cold water over the idea of an anniversary record.
In October last year, Liam announced that he would be commencing a solo tour around the UK and Ireland to mark the album’s 30th anniversary. Noel, the elder brother, is said to have been ignoring calls for a reunion since the pair’s almighty bust-up backstage in Paris in 2009.
Appearing on the Pub Talk podcast in October 2022, Noel claimed that “a set of extraordinary circumstances” would be needed for Oasis to reform.
