A Special Birthday Trip to Remember
For my 70th birthday I decided to treat my immediate family to a luxurious day trip out. From 6.50am to 11pm We were spoilt with superb food and by efficient curtious staff. The Midland Pullman train has been refurbisheded to an exacting standard and we were no worse for wear after the 700 mile round trip. 12 days later and we are all still on a high from our trip. Well done 10 out of 10.

Non-existent customer service
Contacted the company by email to ask about timings and itineraries as I’d be booking a trip for my elderly parents. Received the most blunt, unhelpful response. For a company charging this kind of price, I’d expect customer service to be more existent! Doesn’t bode well. Wouldn’t recommend even considering Midland Pullman.

Train Travel at its Finest
Yesterday I had a great experience on one of Midland Pullman's tours. The train itself is fantastic - first class throughout with comfy seats, the legendary BR Mk3 carriage ride quality and big windows for enjoying the view. Didn't hurt that the other passengers were such good company, too. The onboard staff were top-notch - friendly and professional with regular at-seat service and a generous provision of food and drink. An operation this good was never going to come cheap but the quality makes it worth every penny.

A memorable day trip.
Went on the Midland Pullman from North Wales to Paignton and what a wonderful experience it was. The food was first class and the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Not a cheap day out but well worth every penny.

‘Luxury’ train from the 1960s to whisk passengers along the Cumbrian coastline
Calling all train fans...Britain’s first luxury high speed diesel-electric train will whisk passengers along the Cumbrian coast this weekend.
The Midland Pullman is embarking on a tour on Saturday June 22 that will take guests on a circular route from Wales to Carlisle.
With tickets costing around £195 or more, the journey will take around 15 hours from boarding at Holyhead to disembarking.
Billed as an ‘experience’, the tour boast ‘elegantly refurbished carriages’, a ‘welcoming and professional’ team, as well as stunning views and onboard dining provided by an executive chef.
The train has been refurbished and restored after running between Manchester Central and London St Pancras in the early 1960’s.
This weekend the Settle to Carlisle and Coastal Pullman is scheduled to leave Carlisle at 4pm and shortly pass through Dalston, providing the subsequent passing times:
- Wigton at 4:16pm
- Maryport at 4:36pm
- Workington at 4:49pm.
- Whitehaven at 5:06pm,
- St Bees at 5:16
- Sellafield at 5:33pm.
- Bootle at 5:48pm
- Silecroft at 5:53pm.
- Millom at 5:57pm
- Askam-in-Furness at 6:18pm.
- Barrowat 6:36pm
- Ulverston at 7:04pm.
- Carnforth at 7:40pm.
The train will carry on to Holyhead in Wales where it will end the journey.

Brilliant day out on the Whitby Jet tour on the Midland Pullman. We travelled on the Pullman Dining option. The train was beautifully presented, the catering was first class, and the service excellent. We had a very good breakfast with fruit, yogurt and granola followed by a choice of full English or smoked haddock and poached egg.
The train trip will allow passengers to have a three-day weekend break in Scotland, with the Friday a travel day to Scotland, Sunday being a return trip back home and the Saturday being a trip between Fort William and Mallaig on the Jacobite line. Given that this trip cost in excess of £1000 the standard of food and service should be considerably higher. As a previous review stated it seems that the staff can't wait to get rid of you.
