The hotel was great, the food excellent, but the staff was especially friendly. My husband was very ill and had to be taken to hospital and they extended all their help and resources in the best possible way. I especially wish to extend my thanks and appreciation to the management and housekeeping staff of the hotel for their help and consideration during these difficult moments.

By far the best hotel in Mysore not only in therms of service & food but even the rooms were brilliant. We visit Mysore once every quarter on work and have stayed at most of the other hotels in the same category but none have come close to the experience we had at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel. The business class rooms were heavenly and complete value for money. The check-in was handled really well by Bopanna and team. The dinner was excellent, definitely the best butter chicken I've had in Mysore. The room service was great and so was the housekeeping. Abin did a great job setting up our room. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to spend more time at the hotel. Would have loved to try out the spa and relax a little longer. Hopefully next time!

This is one of the best star hotels in Mysore. There is no doubt about it. And also the fact that it has excellent facilities and is situated in a great location. This is why I was surprised when the hotel was available for comparatively lower price(50% off) and booked it at once. The devil was in the details. For that price, it was mentioned that I must pay for Christmas Gala dinner too, which without any surprise, was same price as that of the room rent. And the people in the reception were neither empathic nor surprised. However, all other staff were professional and neat. The accommodation is also great. If one looks to stay in a star hotel in Mysore(for a price, of course), this is a good option. If you are a price sensitive traveller, just be careful about any offer that reduces the room rent. There will be some caveat.

This hotel was booked through Priceline which refreshed my search while booking, therefore booking it for incorrect dates and an incorrect number of guests. Since it was booked for the day after my initial booking date (instead of 2 months later, which is when I'll be in India) I couldn't cancel the reservations since it was already 48 hours prior to the reservation. After I contacted Agoda and Priceline, the hotel graciously did not charge me for the mistake. Thanks to this, I will be booking my stay in July with Sandesh The Prince and hope to give another good review. Thank you to the honest people/ management working there.

I stayed at the Southern Star for four nights as a solo traveller prior to attending a month's yoga course. The hotel was great value, there was plenty of choice at breakfast, and the rooms were clean and well serviced.Bathrooms are in need of an update but very serviceable with clean towels provided daily. The swimming pool is lovely, set in a well tended garden. For me,the best feature of the hotel was its staff, who were friendly and helpful at all times;nothing was too much trouble and any request was fulfilled with a smile.

I visited Mysore last week for the 1st time with family. it was really pleasant stay. the rooms were good, clean, tidy and nice view. the best part is location, you can reach the main tourist spots with 20 mins. the staff were very courteous and polite. they were prompt in tending to our requests. The buffet breakfast is self sufficient and nice with limited varieties. the only area of improvement would be on lunch and dinner, as the taste could be better and if they can include some fun and games for the kids. overall its was a very stay at a very comfortable and nice hotel - ginger

As a first hotel in our India's tour they provided us with all hospitality one could expect after tiryng 36-hours journey. And the morning newspaper was so cute! The on-roof pool is useless, but the rest area around it was helpfull. No complaints to the restaraunt. Check-in staff could be unknown about the Agoda's terms and conditions, so if your booking is prepayed and staff says it's not - just contact with the hotel's General Manager.

Had a great time at Quorum. Right from stepping in to checking out, the experience was well managed. The staff is very courteous and professional. The restaurants serve great food. The rooms are well designed, comfortable and very quiet. All in all, this couldn't have been a better experience. Matches with the best hotels I've stayed with in Europe.

The hotel is located next building of Sandesh Prince. I took a standard room which was compact but enough for us. Room was clean and tidy. You have 24 hours hot water supply. Dont expect much from the TV as you will get only free channels and the remote hardly works. As far as the location is concerned, it is well suited. Mysore Palace and St.Philomena church were nearby. You get complimentary breakfast for your stay and the items are really good. I tried their lunch buffet in Sandesh Prince which was 600+tax for non veg on Saturday and its good for its price. Also the car parking might get filled really quick even though the space is ample. Overall, i would definitely book again if im going. Pros: Location of tourist spots, car parking, clean room. Cons: The price of the food is a bomb. I aint paying Rs.400 for a chicken briyani. Best is to order from Swiggy and enjoy your meal.

I went with my family (wife, my daughter, my mom dad, sister and her 2 children) for a day trip to Mysore and booked 2 triple premium room for a night stay on 18th May 2017. I must say that the staff are very cooperative and provide you best class services. Not to forget the food was really delicious, the Cook being hired from Kolkata it tickled my taste buds as I too belong from Kolkata and thus am familiar and inclined towards the taste. as a whole we had a pleasant stay at the hotel.

Had a great time here. Staff were friendly and we were easily able to book extra nights when we fell sick. Best part about the hotel is the roof top garden. Spent most evening and mornings up there. Great views of the Catholic Church and surround by mosques which have a great atmosphere when the call to pray was heard

There was no hot water and a fly infestation in the bathroom, we got food poisoning from the restaurant and my husband had to go to the hospital to get some medicine. The sheets were washed but had old stains on them and house keeping was erratic, they didn't always show up when you call to request more items. This hotel is very over priced and wouldn't recommend to travelers, especially those who have only been in India for a short time. We also witnessed some other unhappy customers on two occasions shouting at the reception staff. Best probably to skip breakfast not worth the money and eat out, which we did after the first morning

Indian breakfast was very good, if you don't like Indian food, then you don't have that much choice - they had only bread butter, jam and cornflakes. First impression was not so good because I had to wait at the reception for a long time while the receptionist was explaining something to people who came to inquire about a room price while the other was doing not much. We were tired after a 4 hour journey and we had booked before so we didn't appreciate that. Room is a bit old and ran down, so is the bathroom. But I need to say everything was clean, soap, toilet paper and towels were provided. Wireless doesn't work in all parts of the room so you need to find a place where it works. But hot water was there and even though we had a toddler, we managed perfectly. Food in the restaurant upstairs was to amazing, awesome Indian breads and kebabs. The place was full on Saturday night and we liked it so much that we sent there also on Sunday. A lot of variety on the menu and good quality. Besides the hotel is close to economic RRR restaurant which is also a good experience (eating on the banana leaf instead of a plate) and walking distance from the palace. Downstairs there is a travel desk where you can order a car, which we did twice in a row and we never had any problems with the driver. The price for the taxi to see Zoo, Karanji lake, Chamundi Hill, Bull temple and palace was 2000Rs (AC taxi, non AC is 1500). Basically it's the price to see places in the city, if you go outside price is different. We went to Somnapur temple and to another place within the city and the price was 1500Rs (again, AC). In total, I'd gladly stay there again as it was convenient and OK for money.

We were a family of Six covering three generations visiting Mysore. The hotel is very conveniently located. The Executive rooms have been renovated hence were good. The Deluxe rooms are awaiting renovation and have dirty sofas and walls. The beds however, were comfortable with clean linen. The hotel has a buffet breakfast which is complimentary if in your package else you will end up paying Rs 250 per head. We took a decision to split and check out other options. Four members of the older two generations went out and had six dosas for Rs 240 while the youngest generation went for the complimentary buffet breakfast. They were utterly disappointed as there was hardly anything available at 9:00 am since a larger group had polished off most of the stuff. In my opinion going in for a breakfast inclusive package is not worth it.

Like so much in India, you have to be patient and hope things get better. By calling your hotel 'grand' in the title and not be ironic, you really do have to try without being pretentious. Many large modern hotels have gone down the same route, designer details everywhere, huge beds and mirrors, polished stone floors etc......but the problem is there's not enough travellers to fill any of them. its a large hotel but there were only 5 rooms booked when we left, meaning there was no buffet breakfast and few people to help with bags. We even had to pay for the stay by cash as they didn't want us to use the card machine nor did they want to book a taxi for us to get to the station ( "use Uber"!) . Building work at the site next door started very early throwing me back to the 60's when Spain had its first hotel boom. The rooftop swimming pool advertised is right next to the restaurant so not exactly private but is ok for young kids.

We were on a personal visit to mysore e for a 2 night stay and found this on Agoda. Must tell you that it was something much more than what we expected. The hospitality of the staff is definitely a plus unlike you find in lot of other hotels. Room was neat and clean with recommended bathroom fittings and accessories. We tried dinner at the restaurant and food was very good with both south and north choices. breakfast was ideal too I would highly recommend this hotel for short stays

The location is good, 3 minutes walk from the central bus station. Other than the hot water timing that is from 6am-10am only, and the breakfast too quite some time to get done, it is a good place to stay. I don’t mind staying here if I come to Mysore again.

Mysore hotel complex is a km away from the palace with ample parking space. I stayed at the hotel with my elderly parents (74 & 72 yrs age) and found all staff very warm and helpful. Our stay was on navami & dusshera 2016 , thus the location of this hotel was a major plus. In the category of budget hotels, this place takes the top spot. Suggestion for the hotel would be to include a restaurant because the order for tea we had placed with the adjacent hotel, wasn't satisfactory. The restaurant staff was rude & lacked etiquette. I recommend Mysore hotel complex for budget travelers.

Overall our stay was good. The main issue we faced was with the booking going through Agoda seemed to have been for single occupancy and we needed double occupancy. The staff attended to our request for additional beds (although with a little delay). Rooms were clean, well maintained and fresh. A/c, TV were in good working condition. Our request to move to rooms with kind size beds was also quickly accommodated. Toilets could have been a little cleaner, but ok. The bath curtains were not long enough, making the bathroom floor wet and messy. Room service was good and prompt. Restaurant staff cheerfully accommodated our special requests, this was a big deal for us and made our stay/food requirement especially easy. Another suggestion is to be a little better on car booking. It was not readily available and the front desk was happy to give the cab company phone nos, but did not help otherwise in getting us cabs for intra city travel.

I stayed here for five nights. It's was pretty good. I thought staff were friendly without being overly intrusive. I was moved into a different room to get better wifi. The rooms at the front of the hotel have better wifi and are brighter but they are also noisier. If you don't care about wifi or noise so much, you might be better in the back (although the rooms in the front are nicer). The restaurant seems to be closed in the afternoon until 6:30. It's close to the bus station and palace.

Very clean hotel. Decent breakfast included (with idly, bread, sambar, etc.) though some may expect more options. Dinner was limited menu.. meals only, but the food was decent. Dining folks only spoke Kannada... so the communication was interesting as I spoke Tamil and Hindi. The reception staff held us up at check-in because the ages of children were supposedly not included in the agoda booking. We had two rooms... so this is something that could have been resolved after we were checked in. We were tired and reception staff should have just welcomed us and taken care of logistics after. In any case, overall clean hotel and worth staying.

Constructed in Indo-Saracenic style, the magnificent Mysuru Palace also known as Amba Vilas is the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysuru. Its exquisite interiors – replete with carved mahogany ceilings, stained glass, gilded pillars and glazed tiles – epitomizes royalty and grandeur. The palace, illuminated with 97,000 lights, turns into a glorious spectacle at dusk on Sundays and public holidays. It is arguably the most visited palace in India.

History: Mysuru Palace was built in the early 14 th century by the royal family of Wodeyars. Mysuru palace was originally built in wood and was destroyed once by lightning (in 1638 AD), once by Tipu Sultan (in 1739 AD) and once again by fire in 1897 AD. Current Mysuru Palace is the fourth reconstruction, completed in 1912 and designed by British architect, Henry Irwin.

What to see in Mysuru Palace

  • The Dolls’ Pavilion: The Gombe Thotti was originally meant to display dolls during the Dasara festivities. It is a tradition in Mysuru to worship dolls during Dasara, a tradition which was inherited from the Vijaynagar times. During these festivities, in every house, dolls were tastefully arranged. This tradition continues even today. During the time of Maharajas, this area was opened to the public (during Dasara festivities). Today, the bays of the western part of Gombe Thotti houses a collection of various objects of art including European marble sculptures acquired by the royalty.
  • Golden Throne: In the northernmost bay of Gombe Thotti is the Golden Howdah also called the Ambari. It is the major attraction of the Mysuru Palace and it is the Royal Seat of the rulers of the Mysuru Kingdom. The core of this Howdah is a wooden structure in the form of a mantapa, which is covered with 80 Kgs of Gold Sheets having intricate designs consisting of scrolls, foliage and flowers. It is the focus of the Dasara Procession’s grand finale, a tradition that continues to this day also the idol of the presiding deity of the Mysuru city, Goddess Chamundeshwari, is taken in procession in the Golden Howdah.
  • Public Durbar Hall: Most gorgeously decorated hall with a harmonious composition in colours where the king and his closest advisers would meet to discuss the affairs of state. The Golden Throne is placed in the octagonal pavilion on the western end of the hall and the descendant of the Mysuru Royal Family holds private ceremonials and sits on it during the Dasara Festivities.
  • Paintings Gallery: Between 1934 and 1945, the Wadiyars commissioned five of the finest artists in Karnataka to paint the glory and grandeur of the Mysore Dasara Procession. 26 panels based on actual photographs were created and are displayed here.
  • Marriage Pavilion: It’s an octagonal shaped hall where all royal weddings, birthdays and ceremonial functions were celebrated. Dome supported by clusters of pillars is of cast iron. There are 26 paintings, which depict Dasara procession. The stained-glass ceiling has a rich tapestry of peacock motifs and floral mandalas held in place by metal beams. The design of the glass and framework was created by the artists of Mysuru and manufactured in Glasgow.
  • Portrait Gallery: Many valuable paintings and photographs of the Royal Family are exhibited in the portrait gallery on the southern part of the Kalyana Mantapa. The portrait gallery also exhibits two works of the famous royal artist Raja Ravi Varma dated in 1885.
  • Wrestling Courtyard The Kings of Mysuru were great patrons of wrestling and here wrestling competitions were conducted.

Mysuru Palace Temples

  • Sri Lakshmiramana Swami Temple is one of the oldest temples in the city and is located towards the western part of the fort, inside the Palace.
  • Sri Shweta Varahaswamy Temple is located beside the south gate. It’s constructed in the famous style of the great Hoysala Empire, which controlled most of Karnataka from the tenth until the fourteenth centuries.
  • Sri Trinayaneshvara Swami Temple is an ancient temple and is located outside the original Mysuru fort, on the bank of Devaraya Sagar (Doddakere).
  • Sri Prasanna Krishanswami temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The Mysuru dynasty claims its descent from Yadu Vamsa (Yadu Race) of Sri Krishna. Therefore, Krishnaraja Wadiyar III felt sad that there was no temple dedicated to Krishna. To fulfil this, he started the construction of Sri Prasanna Krishna Temple in 1825 and according to the inscription, it was completed in 1829.
  • Kille Venkatramana Swamy Temple – During the time of Tipu, the Mysuru family was still in Srirangapatna. Queen Lakshmammanni, wife of Krishnaraja Wadiyar II was deeply worried about the dynasty and its future. Then lord Venkataramana is said to have appeared in her dream and directed her that his statue which is in Balamuri should be consecrated in Mysuru. By this pious act, her dynasty would get salvation. She, therefore, proceeded to Balamuri without the knowledge of the Sultan and brought the image of Venkataramana, consecrated it in the temple, and offered continuous worship. This is said to have helped the family and after the fall of Tippu, the Kingdom was restored to the Wadiyar dynasty.
  • Sri Bhuvaneshwari Temple – located on the northern side of the Palace Fort corresponding to the Varahaswamy temple in the south, thus providing asymmetrical structure in the fort complex.
  • Sri Gayatri Temple – located in the south-east corner of the fort directly corresponding to the Trinayaneshara Swamy temple constructed by Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar in 1953. Three shrines are here dedicated to Savithri, Gayathri and Saraswathi.
  • Kodi Bharravasvami Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Bhairava.
